PWA: Started from nothing, Ending with everything

North Of The Border Pro Wrestlings Victoria Stone has filed for divorce against Sean McFly. No reason has been given at this time although if rumours are to be believed then Sean McFly and Jenny Playmate have been more than just work colleagues. More details if and when we get them I can't believe McFly would throw away his marriage to fool around with Jenny Playmate. Surely things will be difficult for him now at NOTBPW...then again Dan Stone might just turn a blind eye to the personal issues and keep pushing McFly in the NOTBPW main event....never know if McFly get's his pink-slip perhaps he will think about conquering the un-tapped potential of the UK market and coming over to Britain's No.1 fed PWA, but then again there would be more chance of Watford staying up in the Premiership and that's not likely to be happening.

A video showing the events of last few weeks. It shows the confrontation and beatdown of Jack Giedroyc at the Pay Per View and Adam B's attempt at vacating the title last week resulting in being attacked. It ends with a lingering close up of Adam Matravers looking possessed. Rating for this segment: C-

O.o.c . 2 TV shows 1 PPV left. Any predictions on the ending? Erm...let's see. The returning Mr Popularity declares his undying love and admiration for his teacher Adam Matravers. Rod 'The God' Todd, having found God, becomes a vicar on the open university and carries out a ceremony to 'wed' the two men. But Menace, as the only openly homosexual wrestler in the Cornellverse, is not happy with this turn of events and wrecks the ceremony in a fit of rage. This brings out Jack Giedroyc, who is miffed at Menace for getting a 9 minute match on the last tv show when Giedroyc's main event only ran a measly 6 minutes. Finally Adam B comes out to restore order and books himself and the other 5 men in an Elimination Chamber match on the PPV, thinking that's probably the best chance he's got of getting the title off Matravers. What do you mean, that's not it?! Ok, how about...Adam B is fed up with Matravers and arranges a match for the PPV against Matravers where both Matravers' title and Adam B's position of power are on the line. Matravers wins the match and takes control of the company going into TEW 07. Or...Same scenario as above, but this time Adam B gets the win when Mr Popularity turns on Matravers for not being there for him through his injury (I'm presuming he wasn't really injured and was actually out that length of time for a gimmick change). Or...Adam B books an elimination 4v4 match between the 2 stables for the PPV. If Matravers' team wins, he gets to keep the title and takes charge of the company. If Giedroyc's team wins, the title is vacated and Adam B stays in charge. I don't know. I like my first prediction best. :D

In my head (and the way "I" feel the story is going" it was the next logical step to take. The one thing i hate about doing a dynasty is that if you get a really good idea you cant get feedback on it to improve it, or just debate it without giving it away

Good stuff. Looks like Mr Evilness is on the way in from the description and comment. He's someone I've somehow never ever signed but come close to doing so on many occasions. Looking at the battle royal line up you've built a pretty good roster given what the UK Cornellverse has to offer. I'm just wondering how The Reason managed to win a match he wasn't even in (check the listed 15 men)! Am interested to see how this ends...and then how you continue on in to 2007.

The card for PWA Uprising:

Nina The Psycho Ballerina has her eye on the Womens Championship. Will Stephanie Hazel carry on her recent good form or is it time for a new reign to begin.

Rod 'The God' Todd has been bugging Glen Ward with his religious talks. And both men have a win against the other in recent weeks. Time for one more match to break the deadlock. Two weeks back he tried to reason with his former mentor Adam Matravers and got a beating for the hell of it." Kevin: "And he had only just come back off the injury list" Adam: "Put there by the man he faces tonight. At Honour be Damned, Jeff Nova and Jamie Anderson were the first two in a Lethal Lockdown match. By the time the rest of them got in. Nova had wiped the floor with Anderson" Kevin: "Quite severely indeed. The medical team was called in, he was stretchered out and the match was abandoned" Adam: "I spoke to Jamie Anderson yesterday about this match. He says this match isn't about revenge. Its about confidence. He told me that when he returned a few weeks back, his confidence was shot and that he needed to face his demons if he is ever going to do well here again." Kevin: "So ladies and gentleman. Mr Popularity vs UK's Strongest man" Rating for this segment: C-

He did pretty well out there. Jeff Nova locked in his Worlds Strongest Bearhug to try wear Anderson down but there seems to be hidden reserves tonight. Just not enough to put away Nova. Jeff Nova hit a Glasgow Kiss then set Anderson up on the table. He did a rare thing and climbed the turnbuckle, then flew through the air putting Anderson straight through the table. After the bell sounded he helped Jamie Anderson to his feet and raised his arm as well followed by a handshake. Winner: Jeff Nova Match Length: 9:33 Match Rating: C+
Adam: "Hows thats for respect between athletes" Kevin: "Well lets just see if Anderson will stick to his new found ways" Adam: "Our next match is a regular confrontation from the recent feud between Adam Matravers & Jack Giedroyc. Former 2nd in commands Donny Damage & Stevie Stoat have been put together one last time mainly due to that last match we just saw" Kevin: "Thats not to say that this match isn't going to be anywhere near as good. These two have been blowing roofs off for a while now" Adam: "And this time the TV Title is on the line" Rating for this segment: D
... Match 5: Donny Damage (C) Vs Stevie Stoat PWA TV Title Match Quite possibly the match of the evening. Donny Damage & Stevie Stoat went striaght at it without any regard to personal welfare and the crowd loved it. It was only when both men had become worn down did the submissive moves come out. Stoat locked one in for what seemed like forever but Damage never tapped. Then Damage his his finisher and locked in his own submissive move forcing Stoat to tap out, Winner and STILL Champion: Donny Damage Match Length: 9:40 Match Rating: C+
Kevin: "Phew just how are we going to beat that. Im taking annoucing duties on this next match alone. Adam B is getting ready for his match against PWA Champion Adam Matravers next." Kevin: "Where to begin on this one. Adam Matravers stable: Matravers School of Excellence seems to have fallen from grace recently, focusing more on getting the gold and keeping it than training the next generation of athletes. He was behind the abduction of Phoebe Plumridge during the match at Down at the Docks costing Jack Giedroyc his shot at the title" Kevin: "This prompted our boss, to come out and disband the school and vacate the PWA Championship. However Adam Matravers declined and beat him down. Since that day he has appeared at the bosses home and attacked him again" Kevin: "This has prompted our boss to make what was probably a silly declaration. He claimed he would face Adam Matravers even if he had to give up his position of power. Matravers accepted that offer and they face off tonight. If Matravers loses, he loses the gold and may never get another chance to wear it; if Adam B loses then he has to abdicate his position and PWA Management are going to be putting a job in the paper come tomorrow" Kevin: "You know what. They really should have put together one of those vignettes that you see on the other shows for all of that" Rating for this segment: E

Adam B really has improved since his match with Nate Manchester a while back. Matravers started off easy taunting his boss into attacking him, each time countering and hitting his own move. This prompted Adam B to use his speed to get round behind Matravers and put the hurting on him. Suddenly all the lights in the arena go out. When they come back on the black and white man is in the ring with a steel chair. His first blow is to the head of Adam Matravers spraying blood and putting him over the ropes and straight to the ground. Adam B turns around after hearing the chair strike just in time to take a strike to the knee sending him to the mat screaming in agony. The black and white man speaks: ????: "He who does not punish evil, commands it to be done." Winner: No-one Match Length: 8:27 Match Rating: C- (Plus F & C for the attacks)
A video plays, showing action from the last year. It also shows the fight between Adam Matravers stable and Jack Giedroycs, It also shows Rod 'The Gods' return, Barry Griffin's recent rampage and the appearance of the Black & White man. It seems Ring Of Fire has closed down citing financial problems. 3 years after getting fired by them, i finally see them shut down. Admittingly its closure was inevitable after i had plucked all there best workers but it was still sad in a way. I never got around to commenting on this diary but now that it's over (for '05 at least) I feel I should tell you that I've really enjoyed reading this right from the beginning and I'll definately be reading the '07 diary when it starts (and maybe even commenting on it every once in a while :p). This diary has also inspired me to finally start all the way down at the bottom, once '07 is released. Also; I hate Donny Damage and I am very dissapointed in my fave Stevie Stoat not getting the duke. :( Luckily you have the chance to change that in '07 ;)

PWA - Behind the scenes special Part 1: Working the storylines... When i first started my diary (back at ROF), one of the main reasons i picked ROF was the fact that it was a Pure company. I wouldn't have to make storylines up and could concentrate on putting workers against each other. But i got bored of things quite quickly. For a small company, you could only put together certain combinations for the cost of a show. So when i left ROF and started PWA i pondered over what type of promotion to be. I check out the unofficial FAQ and compared the promotion types:
Traditional: 80% matches:20% angles Cutting Edge: 90% matches: 10% angles Pure: 100% matches: 0% angles Hybrid: 100% matches: 0% angles Hardcore: 80% (perhaps 75%) matches: 20% (perhaps 25%) angles Sports Entertainment: 75% (perhaps less) matches: 25% (perhaps more) angles Lucha Extreme: 80% matches:20% angles Family Friendly: 75% matches:25% angles Underground: 90% matches:10% angles
So i decided it would either have to be Cutting Edge or Underground. But the Cons of Underground said you wouldn't be able to grow very big. So Cutting Edge we become. My first story was for the PWA Championship Belt. And i just couldn't find one that i liked. So i unchained it. Once i finished that one, i made one up for Bullet Bob Cronin (remember him) but a few segments into it, i put in a segment that didn't quite fit the plot (i think it had subject instead of target). When that happened i kinda lost a week and had to hide it in a preshow segment the next show. Then i got up to the Jamie Anderson storyline. I started the story off using a premade story but again i missed a segment and then unchained it from then on. These stories were thought about on the night of the show and the only planning was in my head. I think it showed. Maybe thats why Anderson gets so much hate. I gave the title over to Matravers and sat there wondering just who to feud him with. I had no heels that seemed to do the trick. So i had to turn one of my face Main Eventers. Which really was only Adam Matravers and Jack Giedroyc at the time. There was always Jeff Nova but i had him working for the TV Titles. So either Adam or Jack. Jack was a relative unknown at the time while Adam Matravers was the guy that everyone was routing for. It had to be him. But rather than just do an attack angle i dragged it out over a few weeks till the next ppv. A bodged finisher first, then some shoving, Andersons special referee match, and THEN finally the turn. At that point i had almost no idea where to take it. All i had was a notepad file with the words: Championship Feud – Matravers Vs Giedroyc After that PPV i sat there and looked at that notepad file for a while. I put down Shows 1-4 and PPV1. I just needed to fill them. I looked through my roster and thought a tag match was the best bet for the next PPV and worked backwards through the shows to get there. And it wound up looking like this:
TV Show 2 – Matravers & Anderson beat down Stoat TV Show 3 – The school interfere in jacks gang match TV Show 4 – The School get a women member PPV 1: Evolution – Tag Match – Matravers/Anderson Vs Giedroyc/Stoat
After that i worked up an idea for the next ppv and worked backwards again
TV Show 1 – Phoebe Plumridge debuts by distracting Matravers and joining Giedroyc TV Show 2 –Giedroyc gains 4th member – possibly nova TV Show 3 – Matravers accepts challenge for PPV TV Show 4 – The school gains 4th member – possibly damage. Massive stable brawl PPV 2: Honour Be Damned – The School Vs Jacks Gang Lethal Lock down - draw
I think it was at this point when i realised that Jamie Anderson was kinda dragging it down so i worked in an "injury" at the end of the ppv to sideline him for a few weeks. He still went up against Adam Matravers, Jack Giedroyc, or Jeff Nova on the preshow to see if i could train him up. Thats one reason i dont put up preshows. The other due to the possibility of non debuted workers training. I then had to work in the 3rd month which i thought at the time would be the final month. I thought that longer than that would make it a little boring. So month 3 could worked in like this:
TV Show 1 – Response to Andersons injury TV Show 2 – 2 of each stable tag match TV Show 3 – TV Title defence TV Show 4 – Intergender Tag Match PPV 3: Down At The Docks – Matravers Vs Giedroyc – Title match – Matravers win
But then a few days before i didn't like the thought of Giedroyc just losing i i changed the PPV to:
PPV 3: Down At The Docks – Matravers Vs Giedroyc – Title match – Matravers win by having Damage & Anderson beat down Plumridge causing Giedroyc to leave the match.
At this point i needed an end point to this diary. So i added another month to this story.
TV Show 1 – Adam B strips Matravers of championship. Matravers beats him down TV Show 2 – Adam B finally has enough. Matravers offers him a positional matchup TV Show 3 – Matarvers accepts the Ownership of PWA match TV Show 4 – The school lose & show signs of cracking PPV 4: Uprising – Matravers takes ownership of pwa
But those are just the general plot points. As you can tell, the ending of Uprising is a lot different to what was written And thats how i plan storylines. To write them i copy and paste the results into a seperate notepad file and then dump them onto it and rewrite them. For instance, The show before uprising looked like this:
PWA Wednesday 4 October 2010 J. Nike Leisuresport Complex Attendance: 1,776 Viewers: 174 Pre: Jeff Nova defeated Ali Bloxsome, Jack Giedroyc, Adam Matravers, Joey Beauchamp and Mr. Evilness in 6:42 when Jeff Nova defeated Adam Matravers by pinfall with a Glasgow Kiss. (B-) Nevada Nuclear defeated Martyn Staddon in 6:37 by pinfall with a Mushroom Cloud. (C-) Main Adam and Kevin Jordan Hype the upcoming match between Jack Giedroyc, Jeff Nova, Donny Damage, Joey Beauchamp and Mr. Evilness from the comfort of their announcers table. (C-) Joss Thompson defeated The Minor Annoyance in 5:31 by pinfall with a Clean Cutter. (D) Stephanie Hazel comes out and fires T-Shirts into the crowd. (A) Stephanie Hazel defeated Nina The Psycho Ballerina in 4:50 by pinfall with a Princess Drop. Stephanie Hazel makes defence number 6 of her PWA Womens Championship title. (C-) Glen Ward is walking backstage, turns a corner, and bumps into Rod 'The God' Todd. Rod The God says something that Glen Ward doesn't like, and they start arguing. After some heated words, Rod The God challenges Glen Ward to meet him in the ring for a match. (C-) Glen Ward defeated Rod 'The God' Todd in 7:24 by pinfall. (C-) Keith Adams was backstage and cut a promo demanding a re-match. (D) Kevin Jordan is joined in the ring by Adam B and Adam Matravers who will face each other in a match. After throwing insults at each other, Adam B signs the contract. Before Adam Matravers can, Donny Damage runs to the ring and attacks Adam B, beating him to the ground! Adam Matravers laughs at the misfortune of his opponent while signing the contract. (C-) Stevie Stoat defeated Donny Damage in 12:19 by pinfall. (C+) *hidden* is shown arriving backstage, much to the surprise of the announcers. (C) *hidden* cuts a promo hyping up his skills. (C-) Final Rating: C
I used the Tahoma font for a cleaner look and fleshed it out a bit. And thats about all there is to it.. Its how i write. Now im off to work out just where PWA goes from here. I know thats a LOT to read but i hope someone got something from it
