THE CCW STORY (With the great fun I had with my 05 CCW Diary and failed attmpts in the past to keep a good diary going I have decided to start fresh with the 07 TEW game and hopefully finally have a nice long diary I can be proud of. As always, doing this for me but If everyone else enjoys, awesome!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- My father's death was hard, real hard! I was very close to my "old man" and he taught me a lot in my 28 years. He was also a very secretive man who had a lot of powerful people as friends. He was away on business meeting for much of my early childhood and always seemed to have a million deals on the go. One of those deals was currently resting one of my father's old briefcases by my feet. I looked down as I remembered first finding it. I had been given the task of cleaning out my father's office when I found a bunch of papers locked in one of his desk drawers. After close examination I discovered it to be a contract of some sorts. It was clearly a few years old now but it had peaked my interest and I hung onto it. "He will see you now" the pretty blonde behind the desk said as she looked up and glared at me without a smile. "Is there a secretary in the world who can give a warm smile anymore?" I thought as I leaned down to pick up the briefcase and headed for the door to the left. A polite knock is answered by a gruff but warm response. I let myself in and put on my best fake smile at the well dressed man standing behind the desk. Preston Holt was his name and it took me a long time to find him. I didn't know much about the man other than what I managed to find out through old newspaper and magazine columns. He was some former big shot in the wrestling industry who had a decent career as a wrestler before becoming a mildly successful promotor. All I knew for sure was that his name was signed at the bottom of my contract and that ment that him and I had some business to take care of. "Mr. Mike Lima, pleasure to finally meet you, please, take a seat" He gestured to the leather chair opposite his across the desk and politly waited until I had sat down before doing the same. "I am deeply sorry for the loss of your father, although I did not know him well, he seemed like a good man." I could tell that Mr. Holt was reading me and being a rookie in these types of meeting I could feel the sweat already running down my back. "Thank you sir, he was indeed a good man, father and husband. It will be a long time before the family can fully recover from the loss". I tried to act as cool as I could and thought I pulled it off. Preston Holt saw right through it and uncrossed his arms. He leaned against the desk on his forarms and glared at me, a cunning smile etched across his face. "I am sure you did not fly all the way here to California from your hometown of Ontario, Canada to talk about your father, shall we get to the heart of the matter?" He was blunt and caught me by surprise. I hesitated a minute before collecting my thoughts and then bent down and pulled up the briefcase, setting it gently on the desk. "This is my chance" I thought, "don't blow it!" With that, I snapped open the locks and lifted the lid ... (We have a week to wait for the full release of TEW 07 so expect a long backstory to this one folks)

The cunning smile was still on his face and a small chuckle rose from his aging body. "I had forgotten all about this little deal your father and I had put together." He didn't even touch the contract but rather sat back in his chair and gave me a long hard glare. "I take it you want to know what it was all about?" This was my chance. He had opened the door for me with that comment and it was my chance to step right in and seize control. "I know exactly what it is Mr. Holt. I had a lawyer look it over and advise me on my options." "Oh you did, and your options are, Mr. Lima?" His smile had faded now and his voice had taken on an edgier tone. I realized my mistake right away. Preston Holt was a seasoned businessman who has seen and experienced it all and to have a young punk come in and make a stand like I just did wasn't going to sit well at all! I tried not to show fear as I took a quiet breath and leaned forward, ready to present my case. "It is clear that my father and you, along with a number of minor third parties, had an agreement to start up and operate a professional wrestling company. It is clearly written that you were the majority owner, however, but I am sure my father had a bigger stake in this deal than the rest if he had possession of this contract for all these years. As sole collector of my father's estate and belongings, It has come to my attention that I have every right to replace my father in certian business matters my father was involved in at the time of his death." Preston Holt didn't say a word for a few minutes, just sized me up. he drummed his fingers on the desk and it was clear to me that he was weighing his options. After what seemed like an eternity, Preston's tone softened and he shifted his weight as he replied. "That was well said, Mr. Lima, and I am pretty sure you are here with a desire to put this contract in motion. Let me first fill in some blanks for you. Your father and I met through mutual friends. This contract was written up 4 years ago during a time when the professional wrestling world was at an alltime high. Your father and I signed on as the majority owners, but with my extended knowledge of the business you father accepted a 40% stake as apposed to my 50%. The 2 other "third party" owners made up the remaining 10%. Shortly after the contract was signed, however, our 2 minority owners backed out of the deal and funds for this little project fell through. Instead of terminating it, it was agreed by your father and I to keep the contract in the hopes that we could do something a little down the line. One thing led to another and soon your father and I had other business deals on the go and we both left the professional wrestling world behind us" He stopped to catch his breath and to make sure I had understood everything he had just said before continuing. "Mr. Lima, I can understand your desire but in all honesty, I have been burned by the professional wrestling business too many times in the past and have no desire for it again. Not to mention no time for it as other business matters are more urgent at the moment." Anticipating this moment, I was ready. Digging into my briefcase I pulled out papers and tossed them in Preston Holt's view on the desk ...

"I have already went ahead and got the money I need on my end of the deal, plus extra If needed. My father's entire estate is right there and I am willing to sell it all to get this going. It is something my father would have wanted me to do Mr. Holt and I know it can work. I am prepared to run everything and that will give you the freedom to turn your attention to more important matters you may have." Preston Holt picked up the bundle of paper and sat back in his chair again. He took a few minutes to look through it all before tossing it back on the desk. After a deep sigh and a long, hard glare at me he looked ready to decide. "Mr. Lima, I like you. You have no idea what you are getting into and you have no idea what you are talking about but you have shown a lot of guts coming all this way to confront me with this. The way we have it is that you have everything to lose If this falls apart, you do realise this?" "Yes, sir. I am fully aware of the problems I face should this venture fails!" I tried to sound as confident as possible, keeping my fear of losing everything due to failure as far down as possible. "This is what we will do, Mr. Lima. As majority owner, this contract rests on my willingness to proceed. I will be willing to proceed with this If you agree on the following conditions that I will have drawn into a new contract." Preston got all serious as he sat up and satrted using his fingers to check off everything he said. "First thing is that this new business will be opened in Ontario, Canada. This allows you the advantage of using familiar surrounding to boost interest. Also, I want you to base this promotion around a more realistic point of view. "No superheroes" or "supernatural beings". Also, keep the hardcore matches low and watch how risky you make the storylines. I want nothing that can bring a black eye to this company. The last thing I demand, Mr. Lima, before we agree is for you to back off the 45% stake in the company and accept a 10% minority share instead!" The last condition hit me like a slap across the face. A 10% stake? Had this old man gone insane on me? Anger was clearly showing on my as Preston began explaining his actions right away. "The reason I ask for this, Mr. Lima, Is because I am fronting the most money to get this project started. I also want the freedom and the choice to either terminate the business, should it fail, or bring in someone new to try and save what is left. If you are in control of 45% of the company, the option to replace you, should the need come up, would be evry difficult! The one catch I offer in the clause Is If I have enough of the business than I will offer full 100% ownership to you before seeking other buyers." I didn't like It but I I knew I was way out of my league If I tried negotiating with this man. I may lose most of my stake in the business but I wasn't planning on failing anyway and besides, I can get the chance to buy him out later on. "Although harsh to swallow, Mr. Holt, I feel my hands are tied in this matter. I do desire to open this business and I am willing to accept all conditions you have spoken." A smile cracked on Preston's face as he stood up and extanded his hand. I took that as a cue to leave and did the same. "Excellent. It was a pleasure meeting you Mr. Lima. I bet your father would be proud of you right now and I look forward to a long and profitable partnership with you. You have a long flight home to look forward to so I will get the new contract printed out and have my secretary send you a copy, then we can get the small matters out way!" I had done it, I now had my own wrestling promotion. I may have Preston Holt as a boss but he will be across the world in California while I run the company in Canada ... what can really go wrong anyway? ...

THE CCW STORY The following 2 months I made another 2 trips to California to see Preston Holt. The first one was for looking over and officially signing the new contract and to go over a bunch of little matters. The second trip was entirely different and I came home extremely angery. This new venture must have sparked some fond memories for Preston of the past because he had changed ALL of the rules to the game. "You mean to tell me that my money is no longer good now?" My voice was rising and I could feel myself starting to stand as I leaned into a smiling Preston, calmly seated behind his desk. "Money is always good, Mr. Lima. The cold hard fact if that I have grown excited about this new adventure and mearly wish to take every procaution to keep it running smooth. You should be happy, I am giving you back your money, your father's estate and your memories. By using my own funds and supporting this venture solely on my own, I avoid unwanted decisions being made in my absense." He was a smooth talker and knew exactly what to say at the right times. "Mr. Holt. I came into your office over 2 months ago with a contract that stated my family had a 45% ownership of a new professional wrestling company. You have succeeded in stripping me of everything, including my dignity!!" If my yelling was bothering him in the least, he never showd it. "I am sorry you feel that way, Mr. Lima, and you are free to walk out of the contract right now If you like without any ramifications. I never set out to rob you and I strongly feel that I have protected you from a potential disaster if it were to fail. I am still counting on you to see to the everyday running of the business and you are still my #1 guy, the only thing that has changed is the fact that I am more your boss now than your business partner." He paused as he carefully studied my facial reactions to his words. After a minute of contiplating his next move, Preston Holt continued. "Now, you can take the wrong approach to this and walk out that door for the last time, leaving a secure and good paying dream job behind or you can accept your fate like a man and sit down so we can begin hammering out this new business venture!" He was stern and right to the point. There was no smiling and no warm feelings between us, just cold, hard facts. As usual, the S.O.B was right and he had masterfully painted me into a corner. I took a deep breath and took the only option I could really take, I sat down and tried to relax! ...

The CCW STORY ----------------------------- When all the meeting were finally complete, I came home to Ontario 3 weeks later with about $50,000 of Preston Holt's money. I had also signed a 2 year contract loaded with clauses and bonuses. One of those being that the company's popularity needs to improve from where it is now (0.0% everwhere, local) I picked the name Classic Championship Wrestling and quickly trademarked it. The Windsor Arena Hall held a monthly farmers market on the last wednesday of the month and I was able to get a verbal deal with them done that allowed us to set up our ring in the middle of the market and put on events. We would charge $2 a ticket, with the arena getting 15% of our earnings. Preston Holt was a big believer in not drinking and banned me from hiring anyone who has a drinking problem. That wasn't problem, the real thorn in my side was when he told me "amateur wrestling is a joke. Do not hire anyone who doesn't have good basic skills!". That basically meant that anyone with a B- and over in Basic skills is open to us, anyone else is off limits. This really cut our choices down drastically since I did not want to hire anyone who already had a job, trying to work around someone else's schedule was too annoying!!!! After many calls and many negotiations, 3 men I tried to sign either wanted title reigns I couldn't promise them or too much money. I did manage to sign free agents ... Bob Casey - Journeyman who has jobbed to the best of the best and now comes to CCW to maybe get a main event push, maybe!!! "Trademark" Thomas Morgan - Very lucky to be abkle to sign him to a "decent" contract. Doubt I will be able to keep him long but I will use him as much as a can until he is gone! Cal Sanders - Looking for work and ready to contribute. Should get a good push! After striking out on the rest of the free agents I was forced to make 2 more signings from guys who are already employed by someone else. Air Attack Weasel - Chose him over others in 4C as I doubt he will be picked up by bigger promotions anytime soon and thus I can use him longer. Marc Speed - Always wanted to work with him and hopefully I can build him up a bit. This is when I came up with a great idea. Instead of promoting an entire mens wrestling company or an entire womans wrestling program, I am going to combine the 2 and have both the men's World title and the Womans world title as the main event titles in the company. I quick search showed that there was infact many talented female wrestlers out there who know how to work a ring. I ran it by Preston and he liked it. I went about looking for talent and signed the following 5 females : Eva Grunge - Looking to use her muscial past in a future storyline and like how she works a ring. Agent 69 - What a look, what a name, what a gimmick..what more can I say? Candy Floss - She wanted work badly and signed for only $100, how could I say no? April Appleseed - Has some great moves in the ring, could be our top babyface in the female section of CCW. Ginko Kuroda - Just to add some foreign spice, great in the ring, or so I am told! All that work and now only 2 days away form our first show....how is it all goin to go down?

You backed into a sweet deal and then act indignant about it? :p Great backstory! I found myself wanting to smack you at times (45% down to 10?!? Your risk isn't mitigated!!) then I read further and again....want to smack you (Quitcherbitchin'!). Love it! :) And your signings are pretty good. Well, 'cept for Candy Floss. Ugh, I hope she works out for you better than she ever has for me. April & Ginko or Eve could be your Flair-Steamboat or Ogiwara-Ichihara (i.e. a feuding combo that'll boost your promotion majorly). Definitely keeping an eye on this one! :)

1. Working around schedules isn't that hard. Just got to remember when to use people. I have 12 workers in my dynasty 8 of which are in other companys, some are in two others but you just need to look into when those companies have shows and work around it. 2. Beware of Bob Casey. In my Dynasty he has complained of being tired in a 8 minute match against Air Attack Weasel. 3. You need more people in both divisions. I will keep reading.

POST SHOW NOTES - Eva Grunge broke 2 fingers during her championship match but still managed to fight through it and get the win. She should heal enough in the coming months to be able to defend the title at next month's show. - Preston Holt was very pleased with the main event and has talked me into doing a rematch for next month's show. I was going to go with a mixed-gender match of champions VS. challengers but that match can wait I guess! - We originally had a 3rd match booked but scraped it at the last minute. We want to see how much this half hour show cost us with using 5 talents and maybe then we will add another match or 2 next month. - Talks are to bring in some new talent to bolster a roster that many feel should be bigger. Rumours of Masked Couger is in serious talks to join the CCW roster. - Expect a rematch for the Woman's championship next month between Eva Grunge and either April Appleseed or Agent 69. Ok, this diary will return to daily action once I get the full version of the game next week. For those wondering why I don't have it RIGHT NOW, well, ... A certian someone (my wife) has banned me from spending any money (that I work hard for) until we get a certain bill paid that she says is important or something like that (the Rent) .. sometimes she just doesn't get it .... :( so...see you VERY soon!!!!

He welcomes everyone to more exciting CCW live action. He tells everyone to please give a warm welcome to the new Womans World Champion , Eva Grunge. The 12 people in the audience were, of course, men and all they wanted to see was for Eva to strip but the new champion kept her smile and managed to ignore them as she enters the ring and shows off her new title. Damage starts off by asking her how her health is after suffering 2 broken fingers last month? Eva says she is 100% fit and ready to get her revenge on the woman who broken them on her, Agent 69.
