  1. Honestly...I'm guilty of advertising at least one show on this thread. What I suggest is maybe the creator of the thread weigh in his thoughts on this.

I cannot say that I am the creator of the concept of the Diary Previews And Questions Thread. But I am the originator of the one here on this board so I am assuming you are looking for my thoughts? In my own personal opinion, the thread title says Diary Preview, not Show Preview. If someone wants to make an advertisement thread, then that's fine. But this thread is basically for throwing ideas against the wall and seeing what sticks.

  2. E-V,

Typing this at work so it's going to be quick and painless, I think. I completely understand connecting with a particular company. After all, I was known as Mr. USPW for awhile because that was a promotion that I have continued to come back to. I am still working on a diary with USPW as we speak. But I can tell you that you are going to have a following no matter what promotion you use or how long it might take you to write out a show. You are an amazing writer and have earned the respect of many, myself included. If you need to bounce some ideas, you know that my pm box is always open. So if you feel like you need to return to SWF, I say to do it because it is a major calling that I know all too well.

  3. I'm sure more then you and a couple others here want to see it as well, just saying I don't know anyone personally that does.

I want Roman to succeed, I think he has a ton of potential. He's just pretty green, and his promo's seem to be getting worse (wish he wasn't talking so much). In ring he can be protected obviously.

I was just reading your new USPW diary before catching up here, lol.

That's the one thing he doesn't need help with, Roman has the look. He just lacks everywhere else, although he improves steadily in the ring.

I think the majority can get behind Roman. The problem isn't Roman, the problem is WWE and ultimately I guess Vince. WWE is taking someone that has had up to great momentum in the past, and killing it by making bad decisions. He isn't ready, and too many people know he isn't ready, and these decisions can put him in the same shoe's Batista had to wear last year (which wasn't Batista's fault).

I think Reigns has plenty of potential, he's just green. However, your probably right about the fans.

Nothing wrong with being his fan. As I said, my problem is with them knowing he isn't ready, and yet book this match anyways.

First of all, thank you for reading the USPW diary. Always love to have a reader. :)

That being said, I would argue about whether or not Roman Reigns is that green. He has been around the business his entire life (being part of the Anoa'i family). To me, he doesn't botch moves that I've seen. Or it's a very rare thing if it does happen. He has the look. He's never going to do all the flippy moves that some wrestlers do. He's never going to be a spot monkey. He is what he is. He is a big man wrestler that uses power and power spots and that is enough to make me a fan of his.

I do feel bad for Batista last year and for Rey Mysterio (who suffered the brunt of being number 30 in the Royal Rumble last year). The Daniel Bryan movement was really swelling last year and those two suffered because of it.

  4. Will it be a big moment if the fans reject it like they did tonight though? I mean, a lot of people may boo Cena now, but I seem to remember the crowd at least being behind him through him winning the title at WM for the first time. That the fans are already rejecting Roman doesn't seem a good sign to me.

I also think it's inaccurate to say that the crowd wasn't going to give a chance to anyone but DB. (Not that that's what you were saying necessarily.) They would've been very much into Ambrose or Ziggler winning, among the guys who were there near the end and could feasibly win that match (so no Cesaro.) It wasn't DB or bust, but I think one of the biggest reasons that the crowd died once he went out is that they knew he was the only one other than Roman who had a legitimate chance at winning. Once he went out the result was academic, and it was a result they didn't want to see.

This reaction was painfully obvious to anyone, but so was Roman winning the Rumble, or at least that's how it felt to me. I'm honestly not sure why people are upset or even surprised. The McMahons don't see Bryan as "the guy." He doesn't have the size or the pretty face they're looking for in their top guy. Roman does.

The crowd in Philadelphia is definitely not representative of a typical WWE crowd. I went to TNA Bound For Glory in 2011 in Philadelphia so I saw the fans that are there. They are a more hardcore smark type segment, which is why ECW got so popular there. They are anti-establishment so anyone who they see as having the backing of the McMahon's is going to be booed by them simply on principle.

I do believe it was DB or bust with that particular crowd because he has become synonymous with anti-establishment. And you say it yourself with no one else having a reasonable chance of winning, including Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose. Though, I do see one of them getting their opportunity next year. Either them or Bray Wyatt or maybe even Rusev.

And I think that Reigns and Lesnar will be able to win over the crowd at WrestleMania with a good match and a series of near-falls. If they have a good-great match and people still complain then those people would have complained no matter what.

A lot of them will cancel. I hope enough for WWE to take note.

The ones who cancel are missing out on so much more than just future pay-per-views. It will be their loss. I don't have the WWE Network simply to watch future pay-per-views. I have it to watch the old WCW PPV's, as well, since I was always more of a WCW fan than a WWF/E fan.

  5. Roman Reigns sucks, that simple he is a crappy and boring wrestler. Reigns Vs Lesnar will suck. In all odds the fan will boo the whole match or just cheer Lesnar.

You are entitled to your opinion. I'm guessing that you prefer Ring of Honor style matches to the WWE. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, either. But I am a fan of Roman Reigns and have been since his debut with The Shield. And you're not going to convince me otherwise. Just as I am not going to convince you to give anyone a chance that's not Daniel Bryan (who I am getting a little sick and tired of, to be honest). But Daniel Bryan had his big WrestleMania moment last year. This year it belongs to the Roman Empire.

  6. Daniel Bryan is not main eventing when he should be. Reigns Vs Lesnar will suck and I hope the fans boo Reigns out of the building. Daniel Bryan not in the title match ruins Wrestlemania.

Personally, I see Roman Reigns as a bigger threat to Brock Lesnar than Daniel Bryan. If I were to meet one of them in a dark alley, I would rather meet Daniel Bryan than either Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar. So, to me, Roman Reigns makes a more legitimate opponent for a beast like Brock Lesnar

    go to bed vince

Maybe that's why I enjoy USPW in the Cornellverse of TEW so much. Big man wrestling.

  7. Just no... Reigns vs Lesnar could be worst match of the year. If people find out Lesnar is leaving the entire WM crowd will shit on that match.

As long as Lesnar doesn't tank it like he did against Goldberg, I think they can win the crowd over. But we all have our own opinion. I think that both of them have the wrestling and fighting ability to make a match of the year candidate hitting big power move after big power move and scoring near-fall after near-fall.

  8. I am a very happy man now that Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble. Roman Reigns versus Brock Lesnar should make for a great match, in my opinion, at WrestleMania. It will give Reigns his WrestleMania moment pinning the Beast.

I think Daniel Bryan was put in for a short period of time because of the previous injuries. They wanted to make sure he would stay healthy for the WrestleMania season.

I don't like that they are looking to build Rusev versus John Cena. Cena does NOT need to be the man to end Rusev's undefeated streak. He cannot gain anything from that where a wrestler like Dean Ambrose or Jack Swagger or Cesaro or many others can gain something from ending Rusev's streak.

The Royal Rumble surprises were great. I enjoyed seeing Diamond Dallas Page, the Boogeyman and Bubba Ray Dudley. A little disappointed we didn't see any NXT guys like Tyler Breeze or Adrian Neville or Sami Zayn.

  9. Another little preview of my upcoming PSW diary. The first segment of the first PSW Extreme Wrestling television show. This is the first rough draft.

[PSW Extreme Wrestling is coming to you live from the Pennsylvania Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The building is packed with fans ready to see the first ever live showing of Extreme Wrestling. A 'PSW' chant fills the arena and inside the ring stand the two announcers for this evening: Mitch Naess and Alex Braun! The camera pans around the crowd for a moment, catching sight of different fans in the arena before it zooms in on the two commentators in the ring.]

[Mitch Naess:] "Good evening everyone and welcome to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Welcome to the Steel City! Welcome to PSW Extreme Wrestling! I'm Mitch Naess alongside Alex Braun and tonight is going to be a night that no one will ever forget as we bring you live wrestling action like we will be doing every single week. Alex, tonight, we are going to have a very interesting main event."

[Alex Braun lifts the microphone to speak but he is immediately cut off by the house music of the Supreme Dream Team. The crowd immediately moves into a chorus of boos as PSW Champion Greg Black and Grandmaster Phunk swagger their way down to the ring. They step inside and Black raises the PSW Championship title belt up in the air. The crowd begins a 'You Suck' chant. Black looks toward the two announcers and then steals the microphone from Braun. Braun eyes him for a moment but lets him have the microphone.]

[Greg Black:] "You two need to shut your mouths. This time is for the PSW Champion and for the Grand Master himself, the Supreme Dream Team. But especially for me because I am the PSW Champion. That means that I am the best wrestler in this [CENSORED]. Since I am the PSW Champion, I cannot believe that I am being forced into a match with a mystery opponent tonight. So, Mitch, I know that you know who I will be facing and you better tell me. Or I am going to mess you up right here and right now."

[black grabs Naess by his jacket and yanks him in closer. He gets right up in the face of the PSW Owner. Alex Braun tries to step in but Grandmaster Phunk moves in and shoves Braun to the mat. Black looks like he is ready to throw a punch. Instead, he releases Naess when the house music for Johnny Martin begins to play. The former DaVE Icon Johnny Martin comes out from the back with a Singapore cane in his right hand. He looks toward the ring for a moment and then waves his hand toward the back. All of the attention turns to the entranceway to find out just who is going to be Johnny Martin's partner this evening.]

[it's The Hardcore American Chris Caulfield! Caulfield has not been seen since he was in United States Pro Wrestling! Caulfield has a chair in hand and he nods to Johnny Martin. They charge the ring! The two men slide inside underneath the bottom rope and Caulfield ducks a belt shot from Black and then cracks Black with the chair across the head! Black goes down hard! Grandmaster Phunk takes a couple of cane shots from Johnny Martin before he escapes the ring. Black joins him outside the ring, staring up into the ring where Chris Caulfield raises his chair in victory. Johnny Martin raises the cane as the two men stand tall. Mitch Naess and Alex Braun head to the commentary area.]

    ...December 2013...

"You don't deserve to win our World title."

For some people, those would be some strong motivating words, especially coming from the man who personally oversaw you signing with his promotion years earlier. In Sam Strong's version of USPW, I had only won the USPW Television title twice. My last reign ended in August 2011. Other than that, I've been thrown in some throw-away feuds and never treated like Sam told me that I would be. When I signed with him, I was told that I would be an immediate World title contender. What I ended up with is a career full of regrets and horrible matches with Peter Valentine. I don't want any regrets to keep me from doing what I know must be done. What must be done is that I need to move on. I need to take a step backward to take a step forward. The past will now become my future.

My name is 'The Hardcore American' Chris Caulfield...

And this is the story of how Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling became my new home...

PSW ANNOUNCES EXTREME WRESTLING ON THE POP NETWORK!

    http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/PSW_14/PSW.jpg

With the new year coming upon us, many networks are looking into just what television programs they will be bringing forward. The Pop Network! has announced that it will be moving into the professional wrestling business as it is going to air what has been called Extreme Wrestling. Extreme Wrestling is a television show that is being put on by the Tri State promotion Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling. This show will be put on Wednesday nights going right up against USPW's American Wrestling. Two very different styles of television shows.

Pittsburgh Steel Wrestling is a promotion run by owner Mitch Naess. It has been in existence since July 2007. It was created following the closing of cult favorite DAVE. Mitch Naess, the long-time voice of DAVE, created PSW with a simple concept: repeat the formula but don't fall into the traps that DAVE fell into. The question is, will this be any more successful than DAVE was? Or will PSW fall into the problems of lack of money, talent and other issues that plagued DAVE during it's run.

The Pop Network is a small, cult television network that can be seen throughout the USA and Canada.

*Not coming until at least the beginning of the year.

  12. I don't know where else to post this; so, I apologize if this isn't 'the right location for such'. That said, after a lengthy thought process, I've decided that I will no longer pursue LAX Wrestling as a project. I know that I did a lot of work leading up to the point; however, as I continued to flesh out the company, I felt like it would eventually falter (I just had a feeling). I don't want to just start a project in which to have it fail right away as that's something I have, thankfully, grown out of with age (WAR & SWF being too examples of this).

That said, I would like to think that there's a project out there left to do in whatever free time I have available. I know that I will never be able to write the kind of depth that I once did. I also know that I won't be able to update my projects as much I did in the past as well (most likely only getting to it when I really have time; which could be a month in between shows if it had to be that way). I feel, at this point, that readers would still be okay with a project if they knew it was going to be a slow-burner. I know that waiting a month isn't ideal and, in some cases, may cause you to forget what's been happening. I think I could construct a few ways to remedy that (ie: possibly having a 'storyline section' of the dynasty where there's a brief synopsis of what storylines are running at that time).

This is where I'm starting to think aloud...

I've recently contemplated resurrecting Deadly Overloaded Action. I had fun with the product and it posed a great challenge (being #4 in the US being the 'Big Three').

I don't know if it would be under the same manner as before (owned by a TV Network) or if I would take some liberties with the company itself. Part of me wants to just re-boot the entire thing with a new background, new owner, new wrestlers and have it stand on its own. However, there's also part of me that is afraid of the dissonance that would follow with doing such a thing (anyone who read my previous attempts may feel it's weird to see DOA in a different form than they once saw). Then again, time may alleviate the last issue.

If I kept it with Arcadia, I would most likely still re-boot the series. It would start at 'day one'; voiding out the '1st season approach' that we put up before. In the new version, there wouldn't be 'seasons' per se. It would be more about being a wrestling company who just happens to be owned by a TV network (as if TNA was bought out by Spike or something).

With the latter approach, I have even considered going back 'into the well' of sorts and possibly having John Greed or Victor Page as the headbooker. If this were the case, at least with Greed, it would be John Greed as the cornellverse has created up until now (not the injured, drugged out, loser-face). Again, I don't know if this would feel weird to others to see (envisioning DOA, much like it was, but in a different way -- Cornellverse 13 or 14).

I guess, I wanted to let you know that LAX Wrestling isn't going to happen. That said, I also wanted to talk about what others might think about a potential DOA return, possible change of backstory, and/or the whole thing.

(Again, sorry if this isn't where this is supposed to go).

    E-V,

It's been a little while since you posted this but I decided to make a reply, my friend.

You know very well that I would be reading it even if you decided to run the Care Bears Wrestling Federation. You have worked hard and built a following that I think is one of the top ones on this board. I can speak specifically for myself in saying that I believe you are one of the top writers that I have read not just on this board but in general.

As far as a potential DOA return goes, I would definitely be all in when it comes to a DOA return even if it is a reboot. I really enjoyed the DOA promotion while you were running it. Eric Tyler, Acid, Totally Supreme, The Blazing Red Demon Johnny Vicious. Yeah, that is something that I can get behind.

Here at Promotion Wars, we have been able to give breaking news on everything that happens in the world of professional wrestling. We have more breaking news right here today as we have just learned that New York City Wrestling has been sold from the hands of Larry Vessey to a group of New York Investors led by a mysterious figure that has preferred to keep his name anonymous for now.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

NYCW have been a throwback to an older era of professional wrestling. The company was created in 1988 by retired wrestler Derek 'The Stomper' Bradford. The company has made very little changes since their debut in 1988 and their fans would not have things any differently. When The Stomper retired in 2010, he handed the reigns of the promotion over to his hand-picked successor Larry Vessey. Vessey, a former six time TCW World Tag Team Champion, has been in the business for 37 years and travelled the world plying his talents in such promotions as SWF, TCW, PGHW, TWL and CGC all before coming to NYCW in September 2009.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

We have reached out to the now-former NYCW owner for comment and as of this time we have not received a comment from him. We are also reaching out to The Stomper to get his comments on his hand-chosen successor selling the promotion in a little more than three years since he left. But we will keep you up-to-date on the future of NYCW when we receive the information.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

With Christmas Clash in the books several days ago, we have received a shocker here at Promotion Wars. The main event of Christmas Clash featured Jack Bruce defending his SWF World Heavyweight Title against his hated enemy Remo. Remo had not only attacked Jack Bruce in the ring but also on the street while Jack Bruce was walking down a sidewalk. In the match at Christmas Clash, Jack Bruce agreed to put not only his SWF World Heavyweight title on the line but also his SWF career. The match ended when Remo struck Bruce with a third spear and pinned him cleanly in the center of the ring. Jack left that night to a standing ovation from the crowd.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

There were many rumors circulating about this match and what might occur afterward. As we all know, in professional wrestling, a loser leaves the company match rarely means that the loser actually leaves the company. However, we have learned from sources close to Jack Bruce that he met with the SWF's reclusive owner Richard Eisen in the days leading up to Christmas Clash. The results of this meeting were that Jack Bruce leaves SWF following Christmas Clash. He has agreed not to sign with Total Championship Wrestling or United States Pro Wrestling within 90 days of his release. </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> </span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

So the big question remains: what and where is Jack Bruce heading? Another rumor has him either starting a promotion or becoming owner of one that is existing. With the success of wrestlers such as Sam Strong, Rip Chord and Sam Keith as owners, this is definitely not so implausible as it might have sounded ten years ago. Another source says that Jack Bruce has saved his money from his years in SWF. He was signed to one of the biggest contracts in professional wrestling history less than a year ago. Could this have also contributed to his leaving the SWF? We will keep you up-to-date on this situation as more news develops.</span></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-family:Tahoma;">

  15. I'll be looking forward it! :D. I would like to see what happens! Now you got TWO readers.

    Three!

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think we'll be up-and-running soon. We have both booked our first shows so it's really a case of finalising ideas and getting some bits and pieces written up before the diary can begin. It's looking like being a lot of fun based on the first few days of playing! :D

Thanks everyone for the votes of confidence here. We are both having fun with the game and in getting everything ready for the diary. I second the words of my partner, jhd1, in this matter. You can expect some type of prediction contest and, as always in my diaries, the fun fan signs will be making an appearance.
