And rather similar to how I would likely use Double E. At least Miz over the past few years, not the "headlining WM' short-term version.

Eisen is a solid in-ring talent, with pretty good popularity. That means he should be able to pull half decent grades. He could get better, but I won't bank on it. That makes him a pretty solid upper mid type. His lineage and gimmick make for a very easy character to book around.

I might be more possible to keep him closer to the very top of the card and around the world title if it wasn't for the negative personality and the creative control. Its a combo that annoys me.

So it would feel like rehashing history. Can't be doing that. Double E will have to content himself with throwaway feuds until he hits time decline.

  4.
Soo... it might be Supreme Time finally.

Been booking WCW in a 2001 WCW Lives mod. The company is a mess so its a slow build toward a new generation of stars. I switched the company from balanced to popularity-based and it reminded me how much I generally enjoy booking SE type products. I'm a few months into the save, but I think I've just booked the company too many times in this mod, because it just feels repetitive, even though I've switched some things up. That got me poking around at other mods.

1997 WWF is fun, of course. I enjoy both PWI and the AWF in the Tverse. I played around in the CornellVerse quite a bit in beta testing but not all that much since. TCW tends to be my go-to in the CV anymore, but the grind of being third and having a performance based product made it a bit meh. USPW doesn't appeal to much.... but the SWF.... I haven't had a really fun SWF save yet on 2016. Quite often, the burden of dealing with the Eric Eisen and some negative personalities (looking squarely at you, JOEY) makes it unappealing sometimes. But then I got reading thru this thread and thinking about some of the positives - building new stars to replacing the aging main eventers, JACK BRUCE and Remo pulling monster grades on a consistent basis, Lobster Warrior as a heel.... think I might need to give the world of Supreme a go soon.

  5. I made him the new leader of the nWo, gave him the belt for 8 months and he ended up 5th most popular and top ten in the power 500.

    PUSH HIM MORE

Lol I don't think I'll be giving him a monster push to the top like that. He might still end up at that level of popularity, though. I am avoiding any stables for now and I generally go with more gradual pushes. Kanyon moved from the starting feud he had with Ernest Miller into a feud with DDP. I'm hoping this solidifies him as a main eventer (he auto-pushes to that but doesn't really have the popularity to carry a show). I've have toyed with the idea of a stable, maybe pairing him up with Kronik, but for the first few months, I just prefer to avoid them. I've been using Kanyon as a slightly unpredictable loner, hints of how I tend to use Raven when I have him. If he hits a solid level of popularity (B range), I would not hesitate to put the belt on him. But being WCW, no world title reign longer than 2 months.

    ...kidding...

    ...maybe....

  6. So in my 2K1 WCW Lives save, I switched the product from Popularity = Performance to Popularity over Performance by upping the Comedy two levels. Already noticed a difference. The shows grade a bit better because the angles grade a bit better, and some of the workers are gaining popularity quicker. That's after two episodes of Nitro after I switched. It will also make it easier to borrow my top prospects from development for the B show, help them gain some popularity, so that both helps them be more ready for the main roster move and helps the child companies with their grades.
  7.

Something you can play around with - using a product in a revamped USPW (rebranded as EVOLVE) where it's either Performance = Popularity or Performance>Popularity and I'm getting better than expected results in the show ratings with the default roster.

I honestly don't mind booking any particular product. And I find performance = popularity pretty straight forward. The reality is that this WCW roster is imperfect for any approach. There are some good workers, but some mediocre ones. And the overall roster popularity is not really ideal for a popularity over performance product. I think I originally set it in the data to be a bit different. Over time, as the young bucks move onto the main roster, the quality of talent will take a jump, but those ones need to advance up the roster before they can really help. Since popularity is faster and easier to build than skill, that's basically why I'm considering the switch.

PUSH KANYON MAN

He’s a money maker

He's good enough in this mod, and his character is fairly fun. So he may never be an absolute top star, but think he's gonna be key guy for awhile. So no worries - its happening. He's moving into another feud with DDP, which should see him gain some popularity so he can be a legit challenger to Booker. Probably doesn't win the belt anytime soon, but at least being able to feud with the top guy is a pretty good spot.

  8.
Only a month into the save, so probably too early to do a "what's going on". But what the heck...

Started a new WCW save in my tweaked version of 2001 WCW Lives. It starts in June 2001 with Mark Cuban as the owner. WCW isn't in great shape and the roster is a mess, as one might expect. Have Booker T, DDP, Dustin Rhodes, Jarrett, Kanyon, Shane Douglas.... that's the top of the card. The key that makes it fun is the potential - have RVD on the roster as well as AJ Styles. And the obvious signings are obvious - CM Punk, Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, etc.

I opened up two developmental promotions at the smallest possible size - New York City Wrestling and Full Throttle Wrestling, in NYC and Chicago respectively. Stocked them up with talent. Both are on touring schedules and I've found they tend to grow in size fairly quickly. I've already been using some of the top prospects on a B show so their popularity grows a bit and they can be more valuable to the child promotion. Trying to be patient and give these future stars time to get better before I pull them onto the main roster on a permanent basis.

I'm trying not to revamp the roster TOO quickly. Its tempting, but not really necessary. Growth back to National is going to take some time, regardless of show quality. And getting to National too quickly is just gonna backfire. Have to make do with Booker, DDP, Dustin, Jarrett, and RVD as the headliners until some more become available near the end of 2001 (Flair, Mysterio, HBK, Sting, Goldberg) or a bit later.

Since Booker T starts with the world and North American title, I had him be told he had to give one up. He gives up the NA title, of course, so a tournament is created. That can become an annual event down in subsequent years. Gonna run thru July, with RVD and Lance Storm being the finalists.

I've toyed with different products in previous saves on this data. The current product is Popularity equals Performance, but I'm wondering if I should switch it up to be more Popularity based. The idea was that WCW has changed under its new ownership, but honestly, Popularity based would probably be easier to book, and it can still be different than the chaotic SE they were doing in 2000-2001.

Any ideas?

One of my go-to characterizations is a traditional heavyweight masked wrestler with a patriotic gimmick. There are a series of patriotic masks with different color schemes and both white and black wrestlers. I usually hire Crzy Will and develop him a bit, with the intent he'll becomes a mainstay upper midcard gatekeeper. The intent is always to bring thru youngsters under similar masks, tagging them with him until they turn to feud with him, unmask, or just move off on their own.

The mask doesn't have to be American patriotic to be old school, but there are plenty of mask options in the Tverse. And Will might be too brawl-based for what you are looking for. Someone like Pierre Lejosne has the technical skills and his SQ and overall talent should make him a star in PWI.

Which rather fits with the anti-SE approach of Allman. Gimmick-heavy PPVs are a bit SE in my perview. As for specific matchtypes, could go old school and use 2 out of 3 falls for title matches, or even 60 minute time-limits that sometimes cause a non-finish 60-minute draw.

someone posted a series of PWI PPV logos, including a bunch based of real events for New Japan and ROH. They also had some belt logos for a few tournaments. Like Best of the Best, Grand Tournament, Legends Tournament... I'd probably go with one of those.

But yeah, its Fleisch's. Dug a bit and it got added back in July. And by "wrestling name", I mean ones that deviate from normal names. Those extra names get you names like some of what I posted, and quite a few other very entertaining names that the standard name file alone doesn't. It was included as part of another mod. I wanna say it was part of Fleisch's Real World mod...? It can be imported over. I edited it a bit so that the names aren't quite as frequent, but it creates some really interesting funny combos that feel more "wrestling" than the standard names tend to. I thought Derek had created it but I could be totally wrong.

I'm gradually sending more people down to development to sharpen up. Just slowly picking whom goes down. But honestly, the WWF/E in a lot of time periods had a monstrous roster, and WCW as well through most of its history. So its nothing too abnormal lol

Right now, Hawk is just carrying on with the Hawk'ing. Since the in-game canon doesn't really specify when his affair with Kellie went public, I'm running with the idea that it came to light fairly recently and Hawk has been talking about it in promos. Asking for privacy and the like. I don't want to go too far with the Cena-ism, having a completely split fan-base, the cheer-boo stuff, etc. But with his personal life shenanigans turning some fans against him, and he takes exception to that, it sets the stage for a potential heel turn at some point in the future. Not settled on doing it as he makes a great figurehead and will do so for a long time. But it creates a reason for it happening that can be leveraged at any time.

The monstrous babyface is always a bit lame to me, compared to the monster heel. Especially a monster heel in a mask. My intent is to drag out Core-Cross for a bit, but build it around the idea that Cross has Core's old mask as he uses it an object of power. Not quite to the level of Paul Bearer and the Undertaker's urn. More like the mask allowed Core to unleash his most vile violent urges without restraint. Putting it back on pushes him back to those old ways, so we get one last run of old school Core. More than anything else, it sets up Cross as a manipulative and possibly insane magnificent bastard character. Taking more than a bit from The Joker, he's really just helping bring back the old Core to "unleash some chaos".... and possibly help take out some top babyfaces to help him move closer to the top. Cross is someone I would have so much fun with to write if I ever did an AWF diary project. Shades of Jimmy Havoc too.

  15.

So far my best game also came with AWF, they are just easy to play with and open in reagrds to many directions to take. Screech Wildcat - Fargo Korben is funny.

I quite enjoy the AWF and its possibilities. I also find SE quite straight forward to book. The problem I'm having is the same problem I have in almost any save - roster bloat. I opened up 2 more developmental companies and stocked them up. I will likely up the duration of ShockWave to 2 hours soon. The active wrestlers on the roster right now is pushing 60, but a few of those will be going down to development. I'm trying to give more attention to the Starlets division than I typically do, but I think have to many lady-heels.

So you're gonna rename Clement & Sebastian to Marcellin when you sign them too right <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Sadly, Jon, not all brothers are created equal.

I typically do sign both brothers. But I was trying not too crazy with signings in this save, even if they were going into development. And since Pierre doesn't need development, I figured he would already be moving up the roster by the time that Clem and Seb were ready, so a the typical Lejosne / Marcellin family wouldn't work ideally anyway.

  16.
So I'm a few shows into a new AWF save. The absolute best part so far... renaming some of the indy talent I've signed. I typically add talent and let them keep their indy names. But the AWF seems to be moving away from that a bit (based on all the renamed talent in FAW) and its a way to switch things up. I have an edited version of the name mod that Derek B (I think it was him) did awhile back, so its helped create some great name suggestions so far....

    I have:

Lawrence Wrecker - manager The Deer-Stalker

    Pressure Reeves - Scott Seal

Rare the Undying - Fergus Storm

    Vidal Marcellin - Pierre Lejosne

    Screech Wildcat - Fargo Korben

I watch a fair bit of Progress and yeah its an adult product but i don't wanna have it so there are weapons used in each match.

Real world products in TEW are always going to be a bit subjective. But that's not really the direction I would be going with the product for Progress. Look at the in-game definitions for Cult, Modern, and Realism. Does the description of Realism sound like something Progress features heavily? The Progress fans are pretty much the definition of a Cult audience. Adjusting the product might not be the direction you want to go but it might solve the problem. Just be careful doing it in-game rather than thru the In-Game Editor - it can affect your popularity if you alter things too heavily.

Probably a bit better SQ than WALTER, but like you say, bit less I the technical department. Honestly, I prefer when TVerse (or Cverse) workers don't match up perfectly with real world workers. I like them to have differences, which allows me to use them differently, simply inspired by the real world comparison rather than purely as them.

  20.
I usually have a lot of fun booking Eli in any PWI save. He's a favorite. I don't book him purely as Brock Lesnar, more like a slightly less ripped but more "hard-hitting" version of young Lesnar. Not the post-MMA version except in terms of the aura.

Great thing about Eli is he always seem to improve. In a few saves, I've given him regularly promo time and he's improved rapidly on the mic. His Psychology often hits A as well.

  21.

There's absolutely no reason for me to think this but I always just pictured Eli Morton as Brock Lesnar. But he's a Light Heavyweight so it doesn't really work out. Another option is australian Lawrence Hughes who is an MMA convert, supremely charismatic, menacing and has the SQ with a very good base to start.

If you're willing to put in the work I think 31 year old 100 SQ/100 menace Giant Kodoma could become that Strowman character you wanted but he has a bad history and I imagine he's not real easy to deal with. Hollywood Giant would probably be the better Strowman sub-in even if he feels more like Big Show than anything. Only 29, got that SQ/Menace combo and can wrestle decent. Leviathan is probably the youngest fitting option at 23 years old.

You aren't the only one, Jon. And looking at the weight classes in TEW, Brock Lesnar would actually fit in as a light heavyweight. Or very close to it.

If memory serves, John Cena is a middleweight, Bautista on the edge between LHW and HW, and The Undertaker jus barely a HW. Some mods go away from the exact definitions and look at the workers build, etc.

  22. <snip>

I’ll give another update when I hit January 2017!

    Nice save with CGC.

Always been one of my favorite promotions in the Cverse. First promotion I connected with, way back on TEW 2007. They reminded me so much of Stampede Wrestling, which was my "local" promotion as a kid.

CCG hasn't aged well. They feel similar to TCW in that regard. They need a talent influx and the AI isn't great with that, but its a fun challenge for the user. The Cverse provides plenty of young options to sign and build up.

  23.

Characterization. He just seems so out of place (to me) in HCG.

I think it really depends on how you perceive the actual product of HGC. The in-game description is family-friendly and the product levels don't really limit you entirely. So it could be family friendly in that its straight forward modern wrestling without a lot of risqué stuff, or it could be campy, whether 80s old school style or Hollywood style campy. My personal take is that the characters have never made me feel like its super-camp and a pure takeoff of 80s WWF type wrestling. More of a modern PG product with a bit of goofiness and comedy, but not heavy. But the Hollywood connection always made me think there should be an extra dose of drama in the storytelling.

So for me, how you present Prophesy connects quite heavily to how you book the company. Having him do eerie, creepy promos doesn't have to be campy - look at a lot of The Undertaker's stuff in the WWE in the past decade. You could even have him mostly off-screen, mostly just " a voice of authority". You could even play him straight - just a standard authority figure (think Regal in NXT) but he just happens to wear creepy facepaint....
