  1. Even though I loved the original, I would like to see this remake and see if I'll still enjoy it. I've heard mixed reviews and the same comment about scenes being taken out. The voice talent for the movie looks amazing on paper and I've been a huge fan of Billy Eichner ever since his days doing Billy on The Street (I recommend anyone who loves pop culture to check that show out!)

Billy on the Street was an excellent show. But now, thanks to you, I have the show's theme song stuck in my head.:D

I am not a fan of them remaking all of the various Disney movies. That being said I have no real connection to the ones that they are or will be remaking. Mainly because the vast majority of them came out when I was older. They are not "my generation's" Disney movies, they are the generation after me.

So movies like Mulan and the Lion King are not really special to me as some of the older Disney movies. To me the whole thing just screams as a cash grab from a company that can no longer come up with original material (But saying this, most of their classic stuff was not original either.).

I would love to see them do a movie with Mickey and company. When was the last one of those to come out? The last Micky related movie that I can think of off the top of my head was Who Framed Roger Rabbit and that was only a cameo.

  2. In the commercial she's not saying she-sheer, she's saying chichier..meaning fancier. Kinda like when people saying chichi meaning fancy. Chichier meaning fancier. It's pronounced she-she-er

Ah that makes perfect sense now. I have heard of the word but it never dawned on me that was what she was saying.:o

  3. What are some commercials you hate?

    A few for me

The She Shed commercial from State Farm

The Snickers commercial with the dumb robber

The Sonic commercials with the two idiots

    Progressive commercials in general

    Limu Emu from Liberty Mutual

    Force Factor ads

I like the Limu Emu & Doug ads.:D

At the end of the She Shed commercial she tells her husband that she will be able to rebuild her she shed. She then says something about a she sheer (I can never make out exactly what she is saying). My question is what the hell does she say at the end of that commercial and if what I heard is right, what is it that she's talking about (Wow that is an over usage of the word she for one paragraph.)?

    As for commercials I hate...

Any that deal with the CBS show Love Island. I cannot stand the guy's voice who does the vo for those commercials.

Those stupid Charmin commercials where the young cartoon Bear sings about his butt being clean. Or the other one where the cartoon Bear family is rubbing toilet paper against them (Geez the people reading this in Europe are probably asking themselves what kind of weird commercials do we have over here.).

I also disliked the Gillette "toxic masculinity" ad from late last year/early this year (I really do not remember when it came out). I hated the message it was trying to promote but I also hated it from a sheer stupidity point of view. You are trying to sell men razors and you think attacking them is the best way to sell razors? What marketing wiz thought that was a good idea?

The vast majority of the commercials that I dislike are local commercials so there is no point bringing them.

  4. I had to rewrite this reply two times because I ended up going on a tirade and talking in circles about SJW, social media, the "us vs them" mentality in the media, etc. I just think the whole SJW bandwagon with the Marvel movies is like a football fan saying to someone "We did it! WE won the Super Bowl!" It's being proud for the sake of being proud and I find it extremely annoying.

Anyways, I still love the Marvel franchise though and I don't see anything wrong with Brie Larson. Did she say some stupid things? Yeah, she did... but she still is a good actress. I don't have anything against her as Captain Marvel and loved the 90s nostalgia in the movie too.

Did Hollywood use their agenda to make Black Panther such a big deal? Yeah, of course they were going to do that. It still doesn't mean it's a bad movie. In fact, I think they put a lot of effort and thought into it especially with moving the Marvel franchise along.

And yeah, the Blade trilogy did happen but then Snipes went to prison for tax dodging lol

It's still a good point though!

I liked Black Panther, I rank it in the upper tier of Marvel movies. I really do not think Hollywood put any kind of agenda in it either. The people on Twitter tried to make it seem more important than it was and people bitching about it not being up for an Oscar made the buzz around it annoying.

Not that I hold the Oscar's in high esteem (or any award show for that matter) but Black Panther was not worthy of a Best Picture Nomination. All you heard about was how it was a miscarriage of justice that it was not nominated.

Brie's acting is debatable. I mean she has absolutely no charisma whatsoever. I think if you were to put Emilia Clarke, someone who has off the charts charisma and charm (Don't believe me? Just check her out in any interview she does. She is very charming.) there may not have been any backlash towards the movie.

  5. <p>There is a guy on the current season of Australian Survivor that looks like the real life version of Kenny Powers (or maybe Joe Dirt). I thought mullets were an American thing...I guess not.</p><p> </p><p>

<em><strong>Edited to say:</strong></em><em> Stupid me, I completely forgot about Bono's mullet. Bad hairstyles are not exclusive to America.</em></p>

  6. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaysin" data-cite="Jaysin" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25823" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I’m stoked for Blade and Shang-Chi.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah Blade looks fantastic and Mahershala Ali is a fantastic actor. I have been a fan of his going back to his time on the 4400. I will admit that it kind of sucks that Wesley is not going to play the part again (He totally could, the dude does not age and he's still jacked the last time I saw a recent picture of him). </p><p> </p><p> But Mahershala is a great choice to replace him so nobody will hear me complain about that topic.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I also think Henry Simmons, who plays Mac in Agents of Shield, would have been a good choice for Blade as well.</p>
  7. <p>I am not sure if either Black Panther or Captain Marvel were SJW movies. I think the SJW's latched onto them and made them seem like SJW movies in order to claim a "win" if they were successful. </p><p> </p><p>

Which is pathetic if you ask me. I mean how does a movie doing well at the box office benefit one's life if they did not help to make said movie (I guess the same could be said about sports as well).</p><p> </p><p>

Now I will say that I did not watch Captain Marvel so I cannot offer any input on the actual movie. I did not like the how they promoted the film and frankly Brie Larson came across as a bit of a jerk (Using my tame language here as only certain members on this board are allowed to swear. While I will get a warning.) in her various press junkets.</p><p> </p><p>

As I have said in the past, I wonder just how well Captain Marvel would have done if it did not come out about a month or so before End Game. I have read that her role was going to be drastically bigger in End Game but the producers were worried about how well she was going to be received.</p><p> </p><p>

In regards to Black Panther, the was a lot of stupid stuff going around about that movie as well. Like people praising it for being the first superhero movie to have a black leading man. Which sorry Wesley Snipes those three Blade movies you starred in are not even real.</p>

  8. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="BlueStar" data-cite="BlueStar" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25823" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Getting a top 20 movie list seems impossible for me....there's a few I keep returning to and that I think are top of the list. One of them is always The Usual Suspects....the cast is just phenomenal and the plot has been copied by a lot of movies. I'm also a fan of some of the early M. Night Shyamalan movies....thought they had more new stuff in them than a given Tarantino-movie. <p> Stone made some top quality movies as well (his Vietnam-trilogy was great, JFK, Nixon, Any Given Sunday....). Add Ridley Scott and James Cameron to that...</p><p> </p><p> Star Wars 1-3 (the second trilogy) all qualify as overrated to me. Gave them one look, and that was it.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I forgot to comment on this prior. After I made my list found myself saying, "I should remove Hysterical (a movie that I am willing to bet very few people on this site ever had a chance to see) for Alien." </p><p> </p><p> Then Blazing Saddles comes to mind and I remember how great that was (The end was a huge letdown but the rest was funny). How about Psycho, North by Northwest, or Rear Window. The list truly does go on and on and it is tough to decide what makes the cut. </p><p> </p><p> Hell what makes the cut one day might not make the cut the next day. </p><p> </p><p> Out of the second trilogy I would say the only one I thought was really good was Revenge of the Sith.</p><p> </p><p> I find M. Night Shyamalan's movies to be hit or miss to me. I think/hope that he has gotten his groove back because the last two movies in the Unbreakable trilogy were fantastic. I think part of his problem is he always has to get that twist in there. Not every movie needs it, but I am of the belief that he thinks it does. </p><p> </p><p> JFK was a fantastic movie. I am not sure how much of it is fiction and how much of it was fact. But it does not really matter because it was highly entertaining. </p><p> </p><p> Born on the Fourth of July was great as well and this is coming from someone who is not a fan of Tom Cruise and tends to stay away from anything he is in.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaysin" data-cite="Jaysin" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25823" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Well we’re getting Lady Thor. I want to say that is not the case.</p><p> </p><p> I loved the first two Terminator movies, I loved all the Alien movies with Sigourney Weaver in them (The other ones...not so much.).</p><p> </p><p> Orphan Black was one of my favorite shows, I watch the 100 every week, one of my favorite shows as a kid was the Golden Girls. I watch Supergirl which is by far one of the most PC shows on television (Yes the show is incredibly terrible and dumb at times but Melissa Benoist is uber-hot and so I force myself to sit through the show).</p><p> </p><p> Honestly I do not even get mad when they do woke casting or gender swap of characters. I role my eyes and think it is dumb but that is it. At the end of the day it does not harm to me.</p><p> </p><p> I will admit that I will post my takes on here sometimes just to get a reaction be it positive or negative. I am honestly not trolling, I truly enjoy reading other people's opinion on stuff and how their opinion might be different than mine.</p><p> </p><p> When it comes to arguing a point, well after a few posts anyone will beat me. Because I often find that arguing on the internet is pointless. </p><p> </p><p> I think the Fifth Doctor Who (Peter Davison) said it best in regards to the casting of Jodie Whittaker in the role. He said that the casting of Jodie meant that young boys would lose a role model and I think to an extent that is true.</p><p> </p><p> Nobody has ever explained to me why there is a need to change already established characters into something else. </p><p> </p><p> What is the point? </p><p> </p><p> Why not make a show that featured a female Time Lord. Why did a character, that has been a male for fifty plus years, need to all of a sudden be played by an actress?</p><p> </p><p> Now with everything I have said above, I will point out that I was very wrong about Katee Sackhoff playing Starbuck on the new BSG. When I first heard the news that Starbuck was going to be played by a woman I had my typical reaction. </p><p> </p><p> Then I watched her and she was just awesome in that role and she quickly became one of my favorite characters on that show. In that instance I was wrong and I will admit it. But nowadays it seems like these sort of casting choices are becoming more and more common and it is painfully clear that there is an agenda being served.</p>
  9. <p>I went to the ROH show tonight in Lowell. It was not terrible but it was not good either.</p><p> </p><p>

Having not watched the product on a regular basis since probably September of last year, there were a few people who I did not know. The roster is really lackluster right now and with AEW, MLW, Japan, and TNA in the mix I am not really sure where they can find the talent to replace what they once had.</p><p> </p><p>

I remember at one time going to an ROH show was special. They would do the Boston area once or twice a year and I would look forward to going (I really liked when they used to do shows in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The area was pretty cool and it was near Plymouth Rock which was always kind of cool to look at for historical purposes.). The show I went to on Sunday was a last minute decision and even then I was not sure I wanted to drive the hour and fifteen minutes to get there.</p>

  10. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jaysin" data-cite="Jaysin" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25823" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Well we’re getting Lady Thor. Thor is the name of a god, it is not a mantel that can passed on by whomever wields the hammer. They could easily create a character who becomes a goddess with a different name and I would be cool and the gang with that. </p><p> </p><p> However, people in entertainment will never do that because the name is what has been built up. Tough one could argue that Natalie Portman is such a star that it does not matter what she is in because people will support her movies no matter what.</p><p> </p><p> The next phase of the MCU seems to be focusing on some of the "SJW" Marvel characters. Now I wonder if people will pay to see these movies because they are Marvel movies or will people not see them because there is a clear agenda that they are pushing. </p><p> </p><p> I know when they moved towards that direction in the comics industry they ultimately failed as most of those books ended up being cancelled due to low sales. I am not sure that will be the when it comes to the movies. We shall see. </p><p> </p><p> As a side note, I find it funny that Natalie Portman complained about the lack of women directors in the industry. Yet Natalie owns a production company that has produced (or has movies in pre-production/production phase) nine movies. Out of those nine movies seven of them were directed by men and the other two were directed by Natalie herself. </p><p> </p><p> If she is so concerned with women as directors, why is she not hiring women to direct? I mean it is her company, one would assume she has say over who gets hired. </p><p> </p><p> That is why I never get why people hold actors and actresses in such high regard. They will preach at you to do one thing, then they do the opposite. Plus having dealt with actors in the past I can tell you first hand a lot of them are just weird people. </p><p> </p><p> They would be one of the last group of people who I would listen to when making any kind of decision.</p>
  11. Weren't those rumors about The Witcher being woke things like Geralt and Ciri getting a race lift? Because if Henry Cavill isn't white then what is he?

Also, am I the only one getting a Daario Naharis before he was recast vibe from Cavill as Geralt?

Ciri yes. I think most of the flak about Henry Cavill playing Geralt has to do with fans not like the way he looks as Geralt. Also, there are a lot of people who do not like Henry because they do not like how he plays Superman (I am not in this camp. Really the only one of the JLA that I do not like is the guy who plays Flash. The rest were fine with me, hell I might be the only one who did not mind Affleck as Batman).

My thing is the show is going to be PG13, I personally think it is going to be hard to make a Witcher series that is not rated R. Now I understand an R rating might curtail some folks from watching it.

With how Netflix is, I am just worried that they are going to sanitize (By shoehorning far-left political talking points into the show. I myself am a moderate and I hate to see either extreme sides of the political coin forcing their agendas into entertainment.) this show and not make it what it can be. Maybe I am wrong and I hope I am, but I have a feeling I am not.

To willingly lose members of your audience just because you have an agenda to push is foolish. </p><p> </p><p> I do not want to have to sit through woke nonsense like that and I am afraid they will somehow inject that sort of crap into the Witcher.</p>

  16. I only really liked Sami in Lucha Underground but Tessa is arguably their biggest star (or should be).

I just hate intergender matches. Therefore, it does not matter if the match is good or not I just find the concept stupid.

I would have no problem with Tessa headlining against another woman. Though their Women's Division is looking pretty bad these days.

  17. Citizen Kane was technically so far ahead of it's time that it's influences are still found in cinema today. In fact you list Godfather I and II, as well as Raiders of the Last Ark in your top 20. I can pinpoint exact influences and references to Kane in just those 3 movies.

But to each their own if you didn't dig the actual narrative, I guess.

I'll leave you alone on Empire lol

I mean I think it is safe to say that everyone knows that Orson Welles most important/influential movie was Transformers the Movie...

  18. Out of curiosity, I was wondering if people would like to share their all-time favorite movies. I did a list of my all-time favorite sitcoms in the TV thread and I thought it would be interesting to see what people put down for their favorite movies.

Here is my list (not in order, I went with twenty)...

    1. Godfather I

    2. Godfather II

    3. Return of the Jedi (No word of a lie I think I saw this twenty times in the movie theater alone back when I was a kid)

    4. It's A Wonderful Life

    5. Being There

    6. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

    7. Sunset Boulevard

    8. The Others

    9. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

    10. Raiders of the Lost Ark (I will always remember that guy's face melting)

    11. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

    12. The Original Star Wars

    13. L.A. Confidential

    14. Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (yes the first one was great as well but I just really like part three)

    15. Hysterical

    16. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

    17. Saving Private Ryan

    18. The Bridge on the River Kwai

    19. Hellraiser (I actually love horror even if this list does not reflect that)

    20. Chinatown

Unpopular opinion, here are five popular movies that I feel are over hyped...

    1. Citizen Kane

    2. Empire Strikes Back (I actually like this movie a lot but I think it is the weakest of the original trilogy. Waiting for the insults to be hurled my way.:D)

    3. The Graduate

    4. Avatar

    5. Avengers End Game

  19. In my humble opinion, All In The family is a strong candidate for the prestigious Best Sitcom Ever! award. That show was just amazing, in so many ways, and will always be an all time favorite for me as well. I always loved The Jeffersons, and Sanford & Son also. Car 54 too. I'd add The Munsters, The Dick Van Dyke Show, I Love Lucy and more than a few others to that list.

The Munsters and The Dick Van Dyke Show were very close to being on my list as well. The Dick Van Dyke show might have the best theme song for a television show. If not the best then it is right up there.

On my list of all time favorite sitcoms, you'd also find shows like Home Improvement, Boy Meets World, Roseanne, Coach, Grace Under Fire, and a whole lot of shows from the 90s, as well as shows like ALF, Diff'rent Strokes, and more than a few from the 80s.

I was not a fan of Home Improvement, not sure why but I just never took to it. Same goes for Roseanne.

But I loved Coach, Jerry Van Dyke was hilarious on there. Grace Under Fire was good as well, I actually marked out when Brett Butler popped up on The Walking Dead. Seriously the moment she was on the screen I was grinning ear to ear.

Boy Meets World was strange for me because I was just a little too old to watch it when it came on (despite the cast just being mostly just one to three years younger than me). But I would catch it now and again mainly because I thought and still think Danielle Fishel is hot. Hell I used to watch her on some trash show on E!, just because I she's hot.

Alf and Different Strokes were great as well.

In the news though, I watched all 8 episodes of Stranger Things in one day, pausing only between episodes to go pee. Loved every minute of it, and thought the whole season was just incredibly amazing. No spoilers, but during a certain.... musical rendition... very near the end, I was very much into it, and was... dare I say... dancing a little.

    T'was fun times.

    :)

Stranger Things was fantastic and worth the wait. With all of the Marvel stuff off Netfilx and Stranger Things airing, I will probably get rid of Netfilx now.

Man watching that show made me very nostalgic. Remembering when the mall was the center of the universe. The old stye movie theater (Obviously not the real old style movie theaters, I mean I am old but I was not around when they played an organ in a movie...no wait that is a lie. I once saw a silent movie in an old movie palace and there was an organ player) with the trailer telling you to throw away your trash.

Spoiler for dvdWarrior or anyone who wants to answer: Did you think Dustin's girlfriend was real? I was on the fence, part of me thought she was but part of me thought she was not. That was cool when they sang the NeverEnding Story theme song.

  21. I think you may have read the entry wrong on that part... it'll be more aggressive, not lax.

"The AI predator hiring, which is the code that allows bigger companies to go after major names, has been changed to make the AI far more aggressive. This will make the game more competitive."

In the words of the late Ed McMahon, "You are correct sir!" I swear my reading comprehension skills suck sometimes (Especially when I read stuff late a night).:o

Okay well then I am all in favor of a more aggressive AI when it comes to signing people.

  22. Seinfeld is officially thirty years old now (the show not the comedian). That seems so strange to me.

The other day I was thinking about how I have almost completely stopped watching sitcoms. I am not sure why but it is the case. In fact, off the top of my head I have never watched a full episode of Modern Family, Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, or The Office. That is odd I have not watched any of the big sitcoms of the past fifteen years or so.

The only ones I watch now are the Goldbergs, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Superstore, Speechless (sucks that was cancelled, it was such a great show) Silicon Valley, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. That list is a lot longer than I thought it would be. However, for someone who grew up watching pretty much nothing but sitcoms, it is strange.

I guess to me a lot of the shows I watched when I was younger were just better. I mean my all-time favorite television show was All In The Family (No I was not alive for most of the first run of the show, I watched it in reruns). That show was fantastic, with how ultra-PC our culture has become there is noway that show could be made today. The thing is it was making fun of bigotry but I really do not think a modern day audience could understand that, or if they did they would not care and they would still go after the show.

Okay rant over. Here is my all-time favorite sitcoms (not that anyone cares or should care)...

    1. All In The Family

    2. Seinfeld

    3. Sanford and Son

    4. The Jeffersons

    5. Night Court

    6. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (the last season was crap though)

    7. Curb Your Enthusiasm

    8. Cheers

    9. Car 54 Where Are You?

    10. Mr. Bean

  23. I really like that the AI will now go out of its way to sign know duos. That always kind of irked me more so than it probably should have.

I also like knowing when contracts expire. When I play as the SWF, I often miss it when workers from other companies contracts come up. Then I notice that they signed and I get annoyed that I missed my chance. That is why I tend to not play with the auto save on, I just go back and make a bid.

I actually am not a fan of the AI predator hiring being more lax. As someone who more often than not plays as smaller companies, you would think that I would like it. That is not the case, the reason why is when the AI starts signing my worker it forces me to find new talent and it helps freshen up the roster.

I tend to never fire anyone and even at the small level my companies end up with roster bloat. Well that is if I am turning a profit, if I am not turning a profit then I have no problems firing people left and right.
