I noticed this because one of my diaries that used to be in the off-topic section is gone as well and it is not in my list of created threads. Therefore, I went to look in Rev's created threads (Because he was one of the most prolific creators of games) and none of his created games are there.

It is what it is, they are probably freeing up space for other stuff that actually makes them money. It was just something I noticed.

  2. For a while my main Christmas traditions were...

    1) Watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy

    2) Get REALLY into the Sims for about a week

Not very Christmassy, but they just sorta happened like clockwork. Until family stuff took over.

I get the Sims thing. That is usually around the time that I really get into as well. I tend to play the Sims in cycles and when that cycle starts it is the only game I play for weeks on end.

Oddly enough I mostly like creating characters and that is it. I will play as the created characters for about an hour or so and then I am itching to create an entire new family.

  4. I watched some of NXT from two weeks ago and my goodness I had forgotten how much I hate listening to Mauro. Beth and Nigel are fine (Though Beth's voice can getting annoying when she starts yelling) but Mauro is just terrible. His lame pop culture references just kill it for me and he seems to make them every five seconds.

I remember watching him do commentary for EliteXC and he said, I am paraphrasing here, "As the late great Yankee Clipper Mickey Mantle once said, it ain't over till it's over." Now people who do not follow baseball may not understand why that sentence is eye roll inducing. What he did there was confuse three people in one sentence. The quote came from Yogi Berra, the Yankee Clipper was Joe DiMaggio, and Mickey Mantle was the third person. Now they all played for the same team (the Yankees) but beyond that I am not sure how he could make such a stupid comment.

To most people commentators are just background noise and for the most part I am that way as well. However, when one is so egregiously bad that I notice how bad they are, it takes away from me watching the product. Because all I can think of is, "That was a lame comment, that was not funny."

I know it is a me thing and a lot of people love his play-by-play work, but I just cannot help but think how terrible I find him to be.

  5. I would be opposed to having outside diaries compete on this board's DOTM. Mainly because I has always been an award for this site. Why should people who do not post on here be included?

That being said, I know a couple of people have posted links to their diaries that are on other sites. I would not be opposed to them be in contention because they would qualify as GDS diaries because they post on here (even if it is just links).

  6. I was glad to see the Expos/Nationals finally win a World Series. They were the true definition of comeback kids. Also, how insane was it that the road teams won every single game. It has to suck for the hometown fans that were there because you shell out all that cash only to see your team lose.

It was a great World Series.

This argument would work if every single promotion specific thread on the forum didn't say "Just hire Marat to win the National Battle..." The guy clearly didn't hire him because he had some vision for his game and wanted the challenge of putting a talentless hoss in a workrate company. He hired him because it's common knowledge to hire Marat to win National battles.

He also didn't partner with TCW because he wanted a game where he could book a bunch of dream matches. He did it because he was told to in this thread.

If he would just book his actual vision of the promotion, he would have a lot more fun.

I get what you are saying but these are fictional characters we are dealing with here so none of it represents reality. Even if it did mirror reality, there have been plenty of times when wrestlers have shown up in promotions and they did not fit said promotion's product (Necro Butcher in ROH comes to mind).

Hiring Marat and just using TCW's talent is a super lame move. Marat has no place in the company, and you I know you feel dirty for doing that.

Start the save over and play properly. You're going to lose National Battle. Who cares? You can put on good shows to keep up anyway. The key to playing NOTBPW is booking properly and making new stars. When I was playing the company, like all my stars left the company except for a select few. This will save you money in the long run. And then just by playing the game you'll gain popularity and eventually turn a profit. You have 10 million dollars to start. You're not going to go out of business. Stop hotshotting a bunch of dumb things and play the company how it is meant to be played, an old school traditional workrate company.

But there is no true way to game the system. That is what is fun about the game, the player decides how they want to approach the game. I never get when people act like a purist and say there is only one way to play the game and that is it.

If there was only one way we were meant to play, then Adam would not give us all of these options. I personally play a near sadbox game because I despise a lot of the features. That is the way I enjoy playing.

Am I wrong for playing that way? No.

Do I feel guilt in playing that way? Not a tinge.

As far as NOTBPW is concerned, I am very much like the op. Every time I play as them I lose money hand over fist. In fact anytime I play as any of the bigger companies in the game (TCW, USPW, BHOTWG, CGC) I always lose a ton of money ever month. The only big promotion I ever make a profit on is SWF.

That factor is one of the reason I tend to play as smaller companies for this version of the game.

  10. MLW World Heavyweight Title Match - Cage Match

    Jeff Cobb © vs. Low-Ki

MLW World Middleweight Title Match - Triple Threat Rules

MJF © vs. Rich Swann vs. Sammy Guevara

MLW World Tag Team Title Match

    Lucha Bros © vs. OVE

OVE might have the dumbest name I have ever heard of.

    Submission Match

    Matt Riddle vs. Jake Hager

This is a tough one here as I could see it going either way.

    Tag Team Grudge Match

Cade and Yuta vs. The Dirty Blondes

    Tommy Mercer vs. Joey Janela

Not a huge fan of Crimson but Joey Janela sucks even more.

bonus - Who will be named the new MLW Commissioner? (2 points) Oddly enough there were less options for this role than I thought there would be. I am going to go with...DDP

It's an HBO original, but a few years old now and it available streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

If you've never heard of it, It's a classic cop show set in Baltimore. Amazing cast. Idris Elba is so good. Just started Season 3 and was pleasantly surprised to see the guy who plays Littlefinger show up pre-GOT. Vladimir Kozlov showed up as some silent muscle! I think he did the show before he got into pro wrestling.

It is so weird for me to see someone discover the Wire so many years later. I laughed a little at the Littlefinger sentence because when GOT initially came on the air I remember saying, "This show has Tommy Carcetti, the cranky guy from The Station Agent (Peter Dinklage) and Sarah Connor (Lena Headey)." To you he was Littlefinger on The Wire and to me he was Tommy Carcetti on GOT.

When the Wire aired I did not know that Idris Elba was British. I was thrown through a loop when I read that he was British, mainly because his American accent is so spot on. I was so used to British actors doing terrible American accents (Peri from Dr. Who is a very good example of what I am talking about) that I did not think any of them capable of pulling off such a good American accent.

Obviously I am not sure what shows you have watched but if you are into the Wire I have some I would recommend to you. Check out Homicide: Life on the Streets, it aired in the 1990's on NBC and it may come across as a little dated (I have not watched any episodes since they originally aired) but it was a great show and a lot of actors from it show up on The Wire. It was written and produced by David Simon who created the Wire.

Also check out the Corner which was a mini-series that proceeded the Wire on HBO and it was also written by David Simon. This show focuses on drug use and how it impacts family. I am not one to get emotionally attached to characters but this one got me.

Then there is David Simon's current HBO show The Deuce. This deals with some of the same elements that the Wire deals with. I am not sure how much I can talk about this show on here, I do not want to go against the TOS here. This show deals with NYC in the early 1970's up until the mid-1980's. More specifically Times Square back during that time, which was a hellhole back then.

Lastly, I would say check out OZ if you have not already done so. Most people would say The Wire or Sopranos were the best dramas on HBO and it is hard to argue that. To me OZ was always my favorite. When it first came on the air there was nothing like it on television. It was almost a shock to the system. Granted now it will probably come across as dated because we are used to seeing this sort of stuff on television, but it was such a great show.

Also, a lot of actors from OZ showed up on the Wire. Including Seth Gilliam who seems to show up on every television show I have watched in the past twenty years (OZ, Teen Wolf, Walking Dead, The Wire)

Every time I finish a couple I start a few more.

Finished watching Carnival Row, The Act, Trinkets, Good Omens, Counterpart S1, Umbrella Academy, Criminal (UK, Germany, Spain & France), Daredevil S3, Black Lightning S3, 13 Reasons Why S3, Derry Girls S2, Big Mouth S3, Inbetweeners S1-S3.

Currently watching Travelers S2, Sabrina S2, The Good Place, Always Sunny, Mr Robot, Handmaid's Tale S2, The Walking Dead and a bunch of crime documentaries on Netflix.

Probably a few more I've forgotten about.

I dropped Netflix a few days ago. I was not watching it that much and the price increase annoyed me. Therefore, I did not get to finish watching Criminal (UK) but that first episode was fantastic. David Tennant (his episode was the only one I watched) was fantastic as always.

How do you feel about 13 Reason Why season three? I watched the first two episodes and dipped out. I found the show to be boring and lacking now that Katherine Langford was no longer on it. To me her character was the driving force of the show and without her the show just lacked something.

I'm of two minds about that. On the one hand it does make the company feel bigger in that more gets covered on TV in the average week now than when it was meant to feel like a mini-card of its own. But on the other hand, it's rare to get a complete match anymore and everything is subtitled with the disclaimer that the full match can be seen on Honor Club. Which is beginning to begin an old pre-Sinclair bugaboo back to me.

It has been awhile since I have watched them, that sucks that they are doing that now. The funny thing is a few years ago I used to ask why they were showing their PPV matches on free TV. I wonder what the incentive was to pay to watch their pay-per-views if you could see the main event and usually some of the high profile lower card matches a couple of weeks later for free.

Now they are going in the extreme opposite direction. Which has me thinking why would I watch their television show when I have to pay to see the results. That make me not want to watch their television.

ROH needs to give the belt to Silas Young

Just give the belt to Beer City Bruiser and call it a day. Everyone knows he is the best on that roster.

Seriously though I really like Silas and I personally would not be angry if he were to win the title. But I really do not see him as a World Champion. But then again ROH have had a ton of questionable World Champions in the past (Xavier, Kyle O'Reilly, and Matt Taven come to mind) so he would not be out of place with the belt.

I've been going back and forth on adding an on-screen authority figure, or just sticking with the common "MLW Management has ordered". Thoughts?

2. Because there are so many members of the roster I'd like to see have success, I'm thinking about adding a handful of jobbers to the roster, just like old Prime Time Wrestling used to be. Thoughts?

3. In addition to the King of the Mountain tournament, I'm also considering a prospects tournament, where I bring in guys that either are under a certain age and/or have certain number of years or less experience, then running a tournament where the winner gets a roster spot. Thoughts on this?

4. At the beginning of every month, I'm considering not only showing the roster again, but also recapping the storylines I'm doing. Showing the storyline and the angles/matches within the storyline. Would anybody be interested in this or should I continue as I have been? Thanks for your input everybody, as I said, shows will be up very soon. At least 1, maybe even 2, today.

1. I used to always struggle with this when I wrote diaries on here. Mainly because the authority figure has been done to death in real life. But it is a good way to move the storylines forward, instead of having a faceless entity enforcing the rules.

Maybe you could take a page out of the old WWF book and have a Jack Tunney like figure who only renders rulings for important events. Like a title being held up or whatnot. For lesser rulings you could have the announcers say that MLW President (insert name here) has issued a ruling on whatever is going on.

That way when the President appears onscreen the readers will know it is a major storyline as the President being onscreen adds some gravitas to the situation.

However, when just the announcers talk about the President's ruling the readers will understand that while the ruling was important enough to talk about, it was not so important that the President had to talk about in onscreen.

2. I am all for jobbers. It makes your stars look good and they can pick up some wins. They do not have to trade wins. The only thing that is iffy is that the match ratings might not be as good with jobbers.

3. I am also for a top prospect tournament. That was one of my favorite things in ROH.

4. The last one should be entirely up to you. I like the idea and think it is a great way to keep up with what is going on if as a read I miss something. But it also gives you extra work. If you do not find it to be burdensome I would say that it would be a welcome addition to the diary.

I have beaten it twice now and I really have no interest in it anymore.

I have yet to beat Fallout 4 (despite having had the game since 2016), so I have been playing that a lot again. I was also thinking about going back to Witcher 3.

I really want another GTA or Elder Scrolls game but who knows when a new GTA will be coming out (GTA Online still makes them a ton of money, so they have no real reason to release a new game). Novelty would be there.

Same here. I think the last WWE game I bought was WWF Smackdown that came out in 2000 for the original PlayStation. After that I just rented them and not very often. I just could never get into their games, I am not sure why that is the case.

I have a question to the people who do buy them. Do they follow the Madden model where they remove features for a few years and then bring them back as "new" features? That used to piss me off when Madden did that. It was the main reason why I stopped buying Madden (well that and the gameplay became dog crap).

With Madden I never got how there were games in the series that came out in the early to mid-2000's that were far better than the games that came out later (Not graphics wise obviously, but gameplay wise.). I always thought that the newer versions should be better than the older versions. Guess not in the world of EA.
