Sub numbers have bottomed out from what I'm understanding, as there is no new content to be seen anywhere. WWE and AEW, meanwhile, are running fairly normal. I love NJPW and miss watching it, can't stand American product, but now I'm worried we won't have NJPW much longer. I'm not an expert, though.<p> </p><p> Anyone else have something they might know about business or NJPW to add to this? The wrestlers have expressed that it would be shameful if NJPW ran any shows at all during the entirety of the COVID pandemic... which will keep going probably for another 18 months minimum. I really hope they don't go under, but I can't help but feel that they're going so long without running any shows that their momentum is going to be kaput and they won't be able to make the money they need to stay solvent. Are these fears justified, or does NJPW have enough saved to go six months or a year without running a single show?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Your fears are not justified. BushiRoad is very well capitalized. Go look at their numbers (it's a publicly traded company on the NIKKEI) before you panic. Their core businesses are still producing revenue and NJPW (and STARDOM) were never expected to be moneyspinners.</p>

  4. All this would require (seemingly) is adding 'Exclusive Written' to the dropdown choices. Right now, it's just 'Written' (which isn't the same) and 'Handshake'.
  5. Jeez, you hit the jackpot! He may not be your style but his popularity and in-ring skill could elevate your entire roster. That's crazy lucky. P.S. Push Modesty *cough*
  6. Over 42 saves of varying lengths (all C-Verse), I've seen 203 breakups......and two cheating scandals. TWO. So, you know, that means cheating scandals don't happen enough so Adam should change it.
  7. This was weird. I have Sensational Ogiwara working for me (QAW) as a road agent and.....she just moved to the US! That seems odd since she still owns 5SSW in Japan. I would think a company owner would want to remain close to the company they own.
  8. Exceptionalism. I look for workers who are good at something. Doesn't matter what, as long as they're good at it. I can work with anything and everything. I have a psychopath random gen that I signed specifically because she was good to great at hardcore and stamina. Her style doesn't match our product and her performance skills are subpar but she's young and time in the PC will help her come along quickly. The only thing that I see as a dealbreaker is personality. Can't have any sleazy, scumbag, or grifter types in my locker room.
  9. It's not defensive. For the better part of two decades, in the biggest company in the world (which is most people's frame of reference, for a variety of reasons), tag teams have been given short shrift. They've been treated as a sideshow, just slightly above the women (in the past) and the cruiserweights (recent years). With the possible exception of two teams (New Day and Usos), they're rarely if ever featured. There are some of us who like real tag team wrestling. So putting forth an idea of further marginalizing a marginalized group to build a worker when there are other far more effective ways to do it, seems like taking the piss. Also, the thread title poses a question. I answered the question from my point of view. Then later gave reasons for my opinion. How's that make me (or anyone else who dissents) defensive?
  10. I can see where you're getting this. EWA in my game is only progressing due to Karen Bilous, Viper, Maisie, Gypsy Rose, and Thea Davis who are at 'well known' or higher (thanks to me). Karen, Thea, and Viper are more popular than the owner/booker, by quite a large margin. But I do see they're starting to smarten up a little. Karen vs Maisie main evented Berlin Brawl and produced the highest match rating (60) the company has seen since Karen beat Viper in the semi-main of Madness in Munich in February. I'm so used to the AI being box of rocks stupid with regard to booking women's divisions, I didn't even notice the main event thing until I just looked. They would've been royally screwed if I had put my B show on Fridays though (as that's where Karen, Viper, Maisie, Blair, and Cassie hold court as the European Union).
  11. Really? And when in wrestling does that term actually mean anything? Rock-Cena, "Once in a Lifetime"......until the following year when they did it again. Lemme ask you. Could you see Bruiser Brody going over the Road Warriors? Why? Because it doesn't make sense. Precisely! Predetermined sports do.
  12. Should, yes. Otherwise, I have no idea how the Dublin Gals got to Very Warm on my roster since they've never appeared on a main show card. That seems like a MAJOR loophole. But it also gives tremendous additional value to workers like Ben Williams, Bob Casey, and Air Attack Weasel who you could ostensibly use ONLY in angles, being beaten up. Heck, now that I'm looking at it, Australia has a ton of workers with god-tier selling (Vortex has 100!!!). Look in the editor. Does it say you have 0 in all the other areas? Or is it something like a decimal? Your PPV provider isn't large enough to produce the kind of popularity gains you seem to be looking for. TEW20 slowed things down quite a bit. You're not likely to get 5% per quarter running monthly shows, unless those shows are crazy highly rated. You're going to make glacial gains but they'll still be gains.
  13. So much this. I don't think there is ever a good reason for it. If your tag division is just a bunch of singles wrestlers paired up for something to do, you don't have a tag division.
  14. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="The Nickman" data-cite="The Nickman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47811" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>"Winning an angle" is when someone is booked on Success, whereas losing would be getting booked on Defeat, such as a beat-down.<p> </p><p> These should have a much higher impact on Momentum than segment rating should IMO.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Uh, if the worker in question is not in a storyline (with the person/people s/he is interacting with), that entire field is meaningless. The handbook says that field 'primarily affects storylines' so I guess there's room left for it to affect other things.</p>
  15. Yeah, for the most part, popularity is everything. If a worker is 'big in Japan', it doesn't mean much unless the match is being held in Japan. So that worker doing a show in the US (where they ostensibly have little popularity) could not go over someone who is 'big in America' without the loser taking a BIG hit to their popularity and momentum. That is, unless the worker offered to put over that locally unpopular worker. I don't know what you mean by winning an angle. If the angle rates higher than their local popularity, the worker will gain popularity and momentum. It won't be nearly as fast as in previous editions but it'll happen. Even if the angles get dinged for 'terrible without a script to follow' or 'did not come out of this looking good', what matters is the rating.

That's almost never a good idea (exception: if the star in question is leaving the company).</p><p> </p><p> If you're referring to your home region, use your preshow. Debut them on the main show (authority figure reveals new signing) then have them in angles and matches in your preshow (on shows held in your home region) until they get to recognizable. Then have them win a match on the main show against an 'unimportant' or lower 'recognizable'. That should work to get them into your regular rotation.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Ruthian23" data-cite="Ruthian23" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47811" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Quick question: When a worker comes to you and volunteers to put someone over and it says "The offer is good for three matches and will last for two months," what is the three matches referring to? That they are willing to lose up to three matches to them without complaining, or that it has to happen within their next three matches?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Means he's willing to lose to said worker three times.</p>
  17. That looks like the basis of a Maury episode. (Not Jerry Springer since the three people involved can speak English intelligibly.)
  18. I'm thinking the momentum gain may be greater on a segment-to-segment basis but not the popularity gain. Sorry I was unclear and too focused on pop. It may be a case of at the beginning of the monster's push, building momentum (using 'domination') may be preferred since it plays a role in popularity gain. So once the momentum is high enough (very warm or hot), open matches with decisive wins will work better to gain popularity.
  19. I buy two (or more) keys because I can't be arsed to deactivate license then reactivate license on multiple computers.
  20. First off, I don't think it's a binary proposition. When you look at other things in TEW20 (and previous TEWs, with regard to balance), you can often see a 'either/or, whichever is better'. In other words, I think a higher rated match will typically be better than a lower rated match chasing what may very well be a very minor bonus. I don't think Adam Ryland is going to incentivize tanking a segment to get a bonus that accomplishes more than the better match would. You have to think, given the fact that popularity is the most important thing in the vast majority of products, being able to gain more popularity from lesser match results, would be borderline exploit, no?
  21. I wish Vinny would do that. I want to fire him for Jillian's desertion (cuz I'm a vindictive SOB) but don't think it would be fair (yes yes I know, Lady MacBeth). But he just won't bugger off.
  22. Anyone happen to have an Ana Garcia? Looking on the MEGA and not seeing anything.
