  1. Maybe World of Sport? Johnny Saint-era, I mean. The revival had too much SE in it. That sounds like a bug. An incident like that should've had the hatred relationship put on Phoenix I. As many Mark Carnie incidents as I've seen, it's always him who gets hated for skipping out on payments. Workers of all personality types can hand in their notice (contract permitting) and that's happening a TON, from what I've seen and read (in various dynasties and such).
  2. It was, there's no denying that. In past games, it was the fast track to the upper midcard. Now it's just the fast track to 'well known' if a player knows how to do it. I think the gist of the complaint in this thread is that it's not as easy to do as it once was and that's true. TEW20 slows down many things, whether it's non-wrestler popularity growth or promotion popularity growth as a whole, many things have been tuned down. It seems like the desire to have menace based angles be all success with no real downside isn't accommodated this time. It's still very possible, you'll just have to find something to supplement your normal means of operating. You note that old school USPW and 21CW built their promotions around monsters. Odd, neither of those companies have a monster as their figurehead. Why? Because the times changed and the likes of Peter Valentine and Giant Redwood were no longer in fashion. The companies adapted and now look where they are. It's easier for small companies though since using the preshow to stash those menace based angles allows the 'monster' to build a nest of popularity in the promotion's home region. So when they appear on the main show (held in that home region), especially if the show is televised, it gives them a bit of a leg up so they're not working up from the single digits. If you can get them to 'well known' before their main show debut, that would be ideal. There are almost no guarantees left in TEW now. For example, if you have someone with 100 in all entertainment skills and 100 popularity, if they do a promo by themselves rated on entertainment, what will it rate? 100? Bzzzt, not in TEW20. You can get ratings in the range of 92 to 100, even with announcer experience and road agent bonuses (and 'hot catchphrase' bonus as well). So even if your monster had 100 menace and 100 popularity, you're not likely to always get 100 rated menace angles as in previous games. That seems fair to me since many of the other stats work the same way.

Do you use the "success" option like Bull was using or just booking them in angles, period.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I have a set of angles I've created that do have those storyline adjustments, yes. The low card workers are not always in (main show) storylines but it's nothing to add them to an existing storyline (as support) if they're going to job to someone higher on the card and then remove them after they've served their purpose. For example, adding Maisie and Viper to the midcard tag title storyline and then they beat up the Neptune Twins (one of the contenders for the titles) before getting beaten by them in a match the following week. Yes, the Neptunes will take a 'defeat' when they get beaten up but they get their wind back when they challenge the heels to a match and again from their prematch promo. But even without those storyline success indicators, just being in successful angles ('successful' being rated higher than their current momentum and/or popularity) can help pump up momentum and popularity.</p>

But if he had seen the email where CANN complained about show quality, maybe he could've asked for a later timeslot?</p><p> </p><p> YoungNoble: That's correct. Child companies that you start up via 'Investments' are totally dependent on their parent company for staffing. Developmental companies result from agreements with other companies to accept your developmental workers. They're private entities so they hire their own staffs. Think of the old WWF/OVW arrangement. Danny Davis owned OVW (at the time) and hired his own staff but WWF sent developmental workers to the promotion.</p>
  5. I think you're stuck. Other than creating your own broadcaster, you're just going to have to stick it out until someone will talk to you again. I know this probably isn't helpful but you should really look into setting up your mail settings so things like this don't slip past. Page 6 'Broadcast Slot Expiring' set to 'important' would probably fix the issue going forward.
  6. Yeah, I barely got that one myself. Then again, that might be because I stick to Serie A and LaLiga in FM and avoid England like the plague. Oh and White Dolphin, I would imagine money might be an issue as to why they didn't go to WWA. Corporate owned chain of schools is either going to be crap and expensive or really good and super expensive.
  7. No issues. In fact, I'd prefer it. I've gotten years of use out of your generic belts.
  8. Angles. Lots of angles. Angles were they're in the segment with someone who is stronger (entertainment skills and/or popularity). Doesn't have to be a 'This Is Your Life' type angle either. I have people at the bottom of the card with 'hot' momentum because, in addition to working preshow matches and angles, they occasionally work angles on the main show with people higher up the card. Here (thumbnails, click to enlarge): http://i.imgur.com/v3NnOFQt.jpg http://i.imgur.com/oHV6Rskt.jpg http://i.imgur.com/9HXwCytt.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mqy7Zf9t.jpg Joy & Juliet are a tag team (The Beautiful People) who, in addition to contending for the tertiary (read: preshow) tag titles, also occasionally perform in angles on the main show, rated on sex appeal (for them) where they do the 'mean girls'/"Piggy James" thing on people higher up the card. They've done it to Tex-Mex, they've done it to Modesty Pador, and paired with a good heel color commentator (J.Ro or Grace Harper, for example) and short-term storylines (say, from one monthly event to the next), it can really help push momentum up. Viper & Maisie are a tag team (obv) that also contends for the tertiary tag titles but they just beat people up for seemingly no reason at all. 2-3 mins of beating people up every other show, as well as preshow hype angles and matches, seems to have gotten them pretty hot. Other people are hot because of the stable they're in or who they're otherwise associated with. I should note that I run a 'main event focus' match focus and 'highlights' angle focus, so that frees me up to run "nothing" angles and matches on the main show to get my youngsters trained up. Once I have my three strong angles and main event match, everything else is open.
  9. It's a thumbnail. Click it to see it at full size. Yeah, I'm gonna let CZCW develop her and then "share" her. I want her fundamentals to get to 40+ before I put her on my preshows.
  10. I'm not seeing the crazy numbers of new workers debuting (or maybe I am and I'm just ignoring the ones I have no use for) but the ones who are debuting are often crazy. Like this one: http://i.imgur.com/IwJKCKMm.jpg Lookit them entertainment skills!
  11. Either works. With no downside requirement, it all depends on how (or whether) you plan to use a particular worker.
  12. <p>I think you're misunderstanding flashiness. Your example underlines that. Rock was phenomenally charismatic with off the charts star quality. He wasn't particularly flashy. Heck, some of his moves even looked like crap (Sharpshooter). But because of his charisma and star quality, it didn't really matter.</p><p> </p><p> As I understand it, the reason flashiness is tied to aerial is to separate the 'normal' aerial workers (i.e. Rob Van Dam) from the truly flashy ones (i.e. Ricochet, Will Ospreay, Matt Sydal, Jeff Hardy fifteen years ago, etc). The people who express their aerial skill in flashy ways (630s, 720s, Sky Twister Press, etc.). I agree that it probably could do more but as it stands, it does what it's meant to do.</p><p> </p><p> Flashy brawling? Examples? How exactly do you make punching someone in the wordhole flashy?</p>

  14. Okay, since I was thinking about this anyway, I'll contribute. Outlaw Mudshow Wrestling (OMW) Outlaw Mudshow Wrestling is a company wholly funded by the Americanized son of a Russian aluminum oligarch. Falling in with a mixed crowd of ex-cons and vapid gold digging women, he decided to combine his love of senseless violence with wrestling that was the antithesis of mainstream. The company's shows are built around gangs settling their differences in the most bloody and insane ways possible. With an abundance of low-rent wannabe musicians milling about, turning the heat up to 11 tends to happen before the preshow ends. Due to the company's product, those who have worked (or survived) more than 3 shows tend to take leadership roles in the chaotic locker room as "OMW OG's". Okay.</p><p> </p><p> And I think Apupunchau is right to an extent. I'm not having any of those problems with C-Verse saves. I'm slow building matches where only ONE worker has high psychology and not getting dinged. Of course, I don't call those in the ring either, I just have the stronger worker lead the weaker one through the match.</p>
  17. Probably. In American football terms, the workers outkicked their coverage. They overachieved relative to their skill level. A good example is Richochet vs Will Ospreay in New Japan in 2017. As great as the match was, there were points where it looked like they were doing stuff just to do it, not to stick to the story being told. However, the in-ring chemistry they had would've more than made up for the ding. That match would've gotten dinged for lack of selling as well as the whole 'the match tended to drift a little' but it wouldn't have mattered because it was still a great match.
  18. Look at the worker's skills. Click on Stamina and look in the window to the right. It tells you what the worker's skill level was from December 2019 to the present day (though if you're years in, it'll probably truncate and show only the previous 12 months). Progression of <skill>
  19. What size is your company? If you're 'Small', you need to move up to Medium. 70 is the maximum popularity a worker can get to while working for a Small company. Doesn't matter how far your broadcasting reaches. You need to be Medium or higher to get workers over 70 popularity.
  20. It's a Pandora's Box situation. It's open now. Anything you do isn't going to fix the underlying issue (that being, there are a lot of awful human beings in the world. Giving them an audience just allows them to emerge from the dark holes they've been living in). I loved Hana. She was the complete package. Kairi and Io going to America (to be grossly misused) really allowed her to spread her wings and show just how bright her future was. There were people who wondered what STARDOM would do after Io left. Turns out, they had an abundance of aces and Hana just stepped into the breech. I can imagine Kyoko is devastated. No parent should ever have to bury a child. But this is just another example of the dark side of fame. People come at you crazy just for a chance to get a response from someone "famous".
  21. Yeah, the way it's written seems like it assumes the player will assume "worker" means "wrestler". I've booked hundreds of segments since release (been playing way more than I'd like to admit) and my road agents and announcers have high momentum because I always run a talk show (ala Talking Smack) either after the main event or in the post-show. It's just a habit I picked up in TEW16. I haven't paid much attention to anyone's momentum (outside of star/major star) since I've been fixated on getting people over (i.e. popularity). Testing to see if my normal method from 13 and 16 still work and if not, what adjustments need to be made. I haven't seen anything to indicate a non-wrestler's momentum is at all useful.
  22. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Blackman" data-cite="Blackman" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="50068" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>But honestly I'd rather have it stay at neutral so it doesn't pollude the contracts screen.<p> </p><p> I do often use my colour commentators in angles in a more active role. Almost all of the angles were successes, yet they've got "chilly" momentum. I do think something's wrong here. Success doesn't bring cold momentum. Not saying it should be "warm". Just not cold.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> This might make for a good suggestion. Have non-wrestlers (i.e. those directly affected by the slowed popularity gain from 1.02) momentum bottom out at Neutral. I'm almost positive it'll just be a visual thing because I'm not seeing any real benefit from my non-wrestlers having higher momentum.</p>
  23. Was that before or after Adam took away their fangs? 1.02, I think it was. The only bidding war I've seen so far has been for Tommy Cornell and 21CW beat USPW and SWF with a bid of $145,310 per month on a 4 year deal with the big goodies (CC and a 45% cut of merch). Well, real bidding war. CWA didn't even TRY to keep Sean McFly when TCW came calling.
  24. This is odd. I sniped Alicia Strong and Raven Nightfall from USPW (and bid up the price and made them overpay for Glorious Gloria - she has creative control in USPW now ) and they haven't even tried to sign anyone to replace them. The talent is out there (heck, Katya would be a great signing) but I have everyone with two X chromosomes on my shortlist and I haven't heard a peep.
