  1. Between B_C's new WCW diary and the imminent release of the new game, I was afraid we'd never see another OWC show again. So happy to be proven wrong. Another great show!
  2. It's not hatred, it's bias. And only when their parents were very famous and successful.
  3. No worries, it wasn't showing for me either and I almost double-posted before the forum software warned me about waiting between posts. Well then, Adam's latest announcement regarding cinematic "matches" today was right on time! Just a personal thing, I'm kinda biased against second generation stars and the overall nepotism implied (or involved). Especially when their parents were such major names. And I'll second everyone else, today I was thinking this diary feeds my puro addiction during the NJPW covid lockdown!
  4. <p>Now THAT's how you do an entrance! Referring to the amazing use of Liquird Swords of course, though I did also pop for that A7x tune (not as much for The American Nightmare, though).</p><p> </p><p> Hoshino joining NEO was a big swerve indeed, but even that pales before the formation of Strongest Lion. They're basically a supergroup!</p>

Discovering this forum and the diaries really took the game experience to a whole new level. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees, also a big thank you to Togg for running the DotM and DotY.</p>
  6. Blazing World HW Championship Finals Munemitsu Senmatsu vs Eisaku Hoshino Can't see the WEXXV loyalist being your champion really Blazing National Openweight Championship Gauntlet Match Washi Heat vs Morimasa Kato vs Shiba Mizoguchi vs The Abbott vs Omezo Shikitei vs Torch Nakazawa I'd go for Kato who seems to be popular with players, but here's me hoping neslo24 is a fan of the 36 Chambers stable Blazing Heavyweight Tag Team Championship Elimination Match Black Magic vs Daniels & Gauge vs Kita & Narahashi vs Edison & Svennson Faction Warfare Gold Lion vs Black Lion BCG>GCG. Probably seeing who Strongest Lion is after this is over Blazing World Junior HW Championship Razan Okamoto vs Golden Arms Sugimura vs Tsuneyo Yanagimoto vs Arthur Dexter Bradley Razan is money. And a BCG guy, but not loyal to them. He has my vote Singles Match Stunner Sayuki vs Spyder Yakuta I do believe Yakuta has a c-c-c-cocaiiiine issue, so he's the unsafe bet Tag Team Match The Red Devils vs The Dogs of War Want to go with the Red Devils, but they're probably too new to go over here Blazing Junior HW Tag Team Championship Finals Blue Beetle vs Hanari & Miyamoto Masked juniors!
  7. According to what GDS posted on Facebook, $34.95 will be the price
  8. Loyalty is a double edged sword (see what I did there?). It allows you to run small promotions like BCG and WEXXV without ever having to fear about having some big stars like Funakoshi or Senmatsu stolen away, but when you're the one playing as the big promotion you can never really invest in people loyal to other promotions.
  9. Same here. Given his loyalty to WEXXV, I expected him to make it to the semis, much like BCG loyalist Taku did. Just, please, whoever this American Nightmare is, I hope he doesn't come with a custom portrait that has that godawful neck tattoo slapped on.
  10. Great batches of work Bison, willr0ck and shipshirt! I'm especially excited about this one, Stash is a great character and this is the first portrait that feels good enough to replace his default one. Between this and shipshirt's work, I'm hyped to start a GSW save once TEW2020 drops!
  11. This was so great, I even heard the cheesy English dub in my head during the Abbot's speech.
  12. Heads up, I just ran the next show. Expect it to be posted soon.
  13. Thank you. Most of the credit goes to Historian though, he's been the driving force behing these last couple of shows while life's been keeping me busy elsewhere and I thank him for it. Me too. From their style, I'd guess willr0ck made them.

What a night we have for you tonight! The Southern Heavyweight Championship will be on the line in our main event when Jack Griffith puts the title on the line against Findlay O’Farraday in a Tennessee Deathmatch.” Sneer: “Make sure you put the kids to bed before the main event. You do not want them to see this. It will be violent. It will be bloody. It will be vicious. It will be a hallmark match, but consider this your parental advisory warning.” Michaels: “It is a warning we hope you heed. In addition to that, the Southern Tag Team Titles will be on the line tonight as Riley McManus and Regular Joe challenge the Tennessee Outlaws for the belts.” Sneer: “Will the Outlaws continue their reign or will they find themselves dethroned by the upstart duo?” Michaels: “We will find out tonight! Let’s go to the ring for our first match of the evening.” Opening Match Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Seth Whitehead & El Mitico Jr. versus Cobra & Jose Flamenco All four youngsters have been trying to impress and make a name for themselves in SCCW and this match was no different. In the six or so minutes they were given, they wrestled a very technical match, one that might have surprised new viewers who’d expect otherwise given Mitico’s lucha mask, the flamboyant Flamenco or Cobra’s antics with his pet snake at ringside. Some nice back and forth chain wrestling was on display here for the old school SCCW audience and Cobra managed to get the win for his team with a ring shaking DDT on Seth Whitehead. In a poor match, Cobra and Jose Flamenco defeated Seth Whitehead and El Mítico Jr in 5:41 when Cobra defeated Seth Whitehead by pinfall with a DDT. El Mítico Jr carried the match in terms of in-ring performance. Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit "The Hunter" Brady Prince versus "Straight A" Ricky Douglas Brady Prince continued his quest here to establish himself as a legitimate singles competitor after the departure of Buck Graham. However, Ricky Douglas was anything but willing to let him achieve that at his own expense. What followed was an exciting match between two solid competitors, a classic wrestling contest that highlighted their technical prowess as much as their resilience. Hitting bigger and bigger moves as the excitement built up, the ending sequence saw Douglas go for his finisher, only for Prince to reverse it and keep his shoulders on the mat for a three count. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Brady Prince defeated Ricky Douglas in 9:33 by pinfall. Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Justice Jolson versus "Old School" Rick Sanders The third match of the evening pit the veteran Rick Sanders, looking for one last chance at glory, against the up and coming Justice Jolson. Jolson looked like a million bucks physically here and Sanders and Jolson had a solid, but unspectacular old school affair. Sanders knows his limitations and he sticks to what he can do -- wrestle on the ground and throw some hands. Jolson is still learning the ropes and is still green -- but his moves all look good and with his physique, he could be the big star of the SCCW in the same vein as the on-hiatus Jesse Christian. Sanders worked over Jolson for most of the match before Jolson used his power to make the big comeback and hit The Death Penalty, the Running Powerslam that is very effective and got him the win. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Justice Jolson defeated Rick Sanders in 7:48 by pinfall with The Death Penalty. Grudge Match Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit The Silencer versus Sgt. Bubba Lee West A rivalry that began since the first ever episode of Last Rebels with roots in both men’s past, this match really felt deserving of its title as a grudge match. Things were very personal and it showed in the stiffness of West’s moves as well as the intensity of the Silencer’s attacks. Fans were solid in support of the former Army Ranger who was fighting for himself as well as to avenge the injury his partner Desert Storm suffered at the hands of West, a fact the psychotic ex drill sergeant made sure to remind everyone at every turn as he once again seemed to aim for Silencer’s throat, almost in mockery. This focused offense eventually took its toll on the Silencer’s breathing, slowing him down enough for West’s killer instinct to kick in, the subsequent onslaught forcing referee Alvin Lavin to jump in and stop the match in fear for the Silencer’s well being. In a decent match, Sgt. Bubba Lee West defeated The Silencer in 11:48 by stoppage when The Silencer was injured and could not continue. Semi Main Event Tag Team Match Forty-Five Minute Time Limit McManus & Joe versus The Tennessee Outlaws © w/ Ernie Turner The Southern Tag Team Titles were on the line in the semi-final match. The crowd had seen some solid action so far but this was the first of two championship matches. The young upstart team, Joe & McManus came out like a good white meat babyface team with the American Flag and the people firmly behind them against the salty veteran team that’s been dominating the tag division since the relaunch of SCCW. This match definitely took care to not expose Blackjack and keep him looking good in the fans’ eyes while also getting the young team over. Jack did most of the work for his team while Regular Joe took the heat in the classic Southern tag team style. Jack and Robbins and Turner on the outside are a good act, but it is clear that Blackjack’s body is long since past its sell-by date and that was all the more clear that during Riley’s hot tag, he didn’t actually take a bump for Riley, he just kind of fell through the ropes while Jack took the bumps for the comeback -- but the fans were loving it none-the-less. Jack took a great bump off an over-the-top-rope toss out while Blackjack, the legal man, rolled into the ring. Jack tried to blindside Riley, but Riley ducked and Blackjack took the only bump he took all match -- the Slingshot Suplex, and we have new Southern Tag Team Champions! In a decent match, Joe & McManus defeated The Tennessee Outlaws in 9:02 when Riley McManus defeated Blackjack Robbins by pinfall with a Slingshot Suplex. Joe & McManus win the SCCW Tag Team Championship titles. Main Event Singles Match No Time Limit Tennessee Deathmatch "Hacksaw" Findlay O'Farraday versus "Southern Justice" Jack Griffith © The main event. The match that almost a thousand people filled the Sweat Box to see. A Tennessee Deathmatch. The rules are simple. No disqualification. No count outs. Falls count anywhere. No time limit. The match doesn’t end until one person has been pinned and then cannot answer the ten count of senior SCCW official Alvin Lavin. Findlay O’Farraday and Jack Griffith looked like they were ready for war. The look in their eyes told the story and the bell rang and neither man immediately moved. They had all night, after all. The initial lockup was intense with Findlay overwhelming Griffith and pushing him back into the ropes. The early part of the match was that story -- Findlay’s power keeping Griffith from getting started, but Griffith dialed back the hands of time to 2002 when he was the Jack Griffith that had the whole South on fire. He let out some speed and got the crowd behind him with some wild offense early. Multiple big punches that got Findlay stumbling around the ring. Jack hit a big drop kick that sent the big man stumbling through the ropes but not off of his feet. Jack couldn’t knock him down. He grabbed the top tope and used it to slingshot himself from the ring to the outside where Findlay turned around. Jack was looking for a crossbody of some sort and the almost a thousand people in the building were on their feet -- but they saw Jack get caught by the bruiser from Cobb County, who slammed him into the unpadded floor of the Sweat Box. From here, Findlay was in control and the match got intense and wild. It was a genuine Southern brawl, not to be confused with a hardcore match from the North East or California. Findlay didn’t empty out the ring for weapons. He pounded on Jack Griffith. Suplexes onto the floor. Irish whips into the guard rail. A straight punch to the face. He even sent Jack headfirst into the ring post and that got the blood to flow and man did the blood flow. Within seconds it was running down Jack’s face and the crowd was hot. This was the South. Men are supposed to bleed in main events and they forgot that they were watching a faux-competition. This was Findlay O’Farraday beating their hero. This was the monster on the attack. And attack he did. Viciously. He bit at the wound on the face. He dug his elbow into it. Findlay hit Griffith with a Back Body Drop onto the apron of the ring and a bloody Jack rolled off the apron onto the floor where Findlay pinned him. He got the three count but by six Jack was standing back up and the people were cheering him on -- only to see Findlay’s size fifteen boot slam into Jack’s face. He pinned Jack again but again Jack was up by six. The crowd was really behind Southern Justice who began to fight back. Big punches that sent Findlay back into the ring trying to get away -- but Griffith was still on the attack. Griffith came running at Findlay, but the big man ducked under the attempted clothesline and hit him with a massive Atomic Spinebuster that got him another three count. There was silence in the crowd as Alvin Lavin counted one...he counted two and three and four and five… The crowd started to pound their feet, trying to will a bloody, battered Jack Griffith to his feet as Lavin passed six and seven and hit eight. Griffith started to stir at nine and just before Lavin hit ten, Griffith pushed himself to his feet just to beat the count and Findlay’s eyes went wide. He couldn’t believe Griffith was still standing. Findlay started to come at Jack who dug deep into his reserves and leapt for a dropkick that hit flush. Findlay stumbled -- but still did not drop. The big man had yet to drop. A second dropkick and Findlay stumbled again. A third dropkick and Findlay O’Farraday finally left his feet and hit the mat. Griffith roared and ran a hand over his bloodied face. He stared at his blood and it was suddenly as if Jack Griffith was gone and he was just Southern Justice, he was just a man possessed with keeping his championship. His punches found the mark each time. Findlay’s eye split wide open and blood began to flow. Both men were bloodied now. The crowd was on fire as Jack hit Findlay with the Jack in the Box, his own version of the Spinebuster that he immediately took into the pin. Lavin got to two before the big man kicked out and Griffith immediately lifted him and hit him with a second Jack in the Box, but again just a two count. Griffith hit a third and this time he got the three count and Lavin started the ten count. The crowd was once again silent as the numbers rolled by and when Alvin Lavin hit ten they exploded with cheers. Their hero had done it. He had won. He had vanquished his foe in a blood bath. He was still champion. In a decent match, Jack Griffith defeated Findlay O'Farraday in a Texas Death match in 23:01 when Findlay O'Farraday was pinned and could not beat a ten count. Jack Griffith makes defence number 2 of his SCCW Championship title. Michaels: “What a night of professional wrestling action we had tonight. We have new Southern Tag Team Champions and somehow, someway, Jack Griffith was able to retain the Southern Heavyweight Championship against Findlay O’Farraday. We appreciate every one of you who purchased this DVD or was here live. For Shane Sneer and everyone here at SCCW, I’m Peter Michaels saying good night.” Overall Show Rating </div>

Yuko Okui: It's all about singles action tonight and judging by what we saw at the Tag Team Summit two nights ago, we're in for an exciting tournament! Hiranuma Makoto: We regret to inform you that sadly, Joanne Rodriguez was unable to fly to Japan in time, so she will not be participating in the tournament as announced. In her place, Rei Chikanatsu will be looking to make this rare opportunity count! Yuko Okui: I'm excited to see how this all plays out! Quarterfinal round match Estrella Blanca vs Yu Hashimoto The opening contest featured none other than the reigning WINNOW Grand Champion facing off against GDR star Estrella Blanca, who has wrestled for WINNOW in the past and was thus well received by the audience. Hashimoto attempted to get a quick pin by overwhelming her opponent with a flurry of strikes, but the elusive Blanca made good use of her speed to create the necessary distance and pull off her arsenal of high flying moves. All it took was an ill-timed springboard cutter though and Hashimoto hit the End Game to connect with her opponent’s jaw mid-flight in an impressive finish to the opening match. Winner: Yu Hashimoto Finish: The End Game [spinning Back Fist] Quarterfinal round match Rei Chikanatsu vs Thea Davis Chikanatsu filled in for Joanne Rodriguez here as the WWA World champion had been facing some issues with her visa and work permit in Japan, neither of which were issued in time for her to compete in this year’s Joshi Royalty Summit. The initial surprise and curiosity soon turned into excitement, as Chikanatsu told the story of trying to hit the Blue Crab Surprise on her long legged opponent, the two women displaying that intangible magic that can turn a match from really good to great. Davis also put her natural athleticism to good use for some impressive spots, always pausing to pose and generate heat from the crowd in between, a tactic that came to a boil in the finish as the leader of the Syndicate pulled a pin off her hair to stab Chikanatsu in the eye while the referee was busy re-applying the padding on a corner she had intentionally exposed earlier to create the distraction. Winner: Thea Davis Finish: Pinfall after using a foreign object Quarterfinal round match Chitose Ariwara vs Romi Yamato Never before in WINNOW’s near two year existence have Ariwara and Yamato faced each other one on one, a fact the announcing team made sure to hype up during this match, a clash between the former WINNOW Grand Champion and the current, upcoming WINNOW Rising Champion. Both women certainly understood the significance and showcased the ego, drive and skill appropriate to the situation as they pulled out all the stops to have the most spectacular match possible. This, in many ways, mirrored the opening contest, although Yamato had some solid technical skills on top of her striking game while Ariwara certainly is more over with the WINNOW crowd than Estrella Blanca. In the end though, Yamato’s finishing maneuver proved to be just too much and WINNOW’s former #1 lady found herself staring at the lights for the three count, out of the tournament and further down on a losing spiral. Winner: Romi Yamato Finish: Yamatotal [Cross-Arm German Suplex with a Bridge] Quarterfinal round match Eri Sato vs Megumi Nakajima With J-Ro absent and Estrella Blanca eliminated earlier, it was down to Nakajima to make sure the rest of the tournament would feature more than just WINNOW’s usual cast of characters. The 5SSW mainstay brought her usual style of graceful violence, mixing smooth high flying with elegant slams and suplexes in a beautiful dance of death. Sato did her best and although she held her ground against the veteran, she couldn’t block or escape the dreaded straightjacket. Still, both women were applauded for their performance and the competitors shook hands after the match in a show of mutual respect. Winner: Megumi Nakajima Finish: Nakajima Straight Jacket [Tiger Suplex] Semifinal round match Thea Davis vs Yu Hashimoto Since the Syndicate’s formation, Davis and her girls have targeted Hashimoto in dreams of knocking her off the top of the mountain, so having the two women face off here was a very intense and personal matchup indeed. The existing drama led to a pretty intense confrontation before the opening bell even, as Hashimoto assaulted her opponent before introductions were over, much to the delight of the fans. Davis had her share of surprises too though and the Syndicate made its presence felt, using gang tactics to harass the WINNOW Grand Champion as all three non-competing members got involved in various stages of the match. Hashimoto withstood the onslaught somehow though and just as Davis was (over)confidently closing in for the kill, she exploded into her finisher for the pin, literally punching her ticket to the finals of the Joshi Royalty Summit. Winner: Yu Hashimoto Finish: The End Game [spinning Back Fist] Semifinal round match Megumi Nakajima vs Romi Yamato For all the drama and shenanigans in the previous match, this was the polar opposite, a clean, competitive contest that gave fans the quality, sports like joshi wrestling they enjoy. It helped that the two women seemed to click really well in the ring and after having taken out one champion before, Nakajima hit her finisher on the WINNOW Rising Champion as well to win the match, setting herself up for the big finale against the WINNOW Grand Champion. Winner: Megumi Nakajima Finish: Nakajima Straight Jacket [Tiger Suplex] Final round match Megumi Nakajima vs Yu Hashimoto It all came down to this. Would the WINNOW Grand Champion make it to the finish line and fend off the outsider, or would Nakajima go all the way to win the tournament with three wins over WINNOW’s three singles title holders? With all this buildup, on top of their familiarity with each other thanks to their time in 5SSW, the two women took the time to pace themselves and put together a classic “King’s Road” style of a match, with Hashimoto really selling the lingering effects of the Syndicate’s attacks earlier. This uphill struggle setup really established her as a fan favourite and the more Nakajima went on without being able to get a pin or submission, the more frustrated she became, meaning her offense became more vicious, thus enhancing the story of Hashimoto’s fighting spirit. It took twenty one minutes and a few seconds, but after a series of big moves, counters and false finishes, Hashimoto broke out of the Nakajima Straight Jacket and spun around to crush her opponent with her back fist for the 1-2-3. Winner: Yu Hashimoto Finish: The End Game [spinning Back Fist] Much like the end of the Joshi Royalty Tag Team Summit two days prior, Crusher Ichihara presented the trophy to her protege in a pretty emotional moment. Alas, the high wasn’t meant to last, because instead of Lioness Mushashibo joining them in the ring The Syndicate came out to crash the party, attacking not just an exhausted Hashimoto but also Ichihara herself, a blatant move of disrespect that really seemed to strike a nerve with the live crowd. The save was made by BATTLE BEASTS, who've also had issues with the Syndicate in the past (also, many hail BEAST Kaori as the monster joshi heel successor to Ichihara's mantle), leading to a hasty retreat by the gaijin. The show ended with a promo from Hashimoto, announcing the formation of a new group that would finally put an end to the Syndicate's antics and pointing to everyone in the ring with her, she revealed they shall be known as the Kinki Krush Krew, or Kinki 3K! With no time limit or any following matches to worry about, the competitors took their time to pace themselves and approach this match with a strategic gameplan. A classic slow burner of a match, this one built up the tension and drama masterfully, with several spots harkening back to the teams’ history and their long standing feud in 5SSW, where they’ve got a total of five title reigns between them. 19. Won't lie, Silas Odswald was a major inspiration for this Kajahara. I'm also loving how this was my first save ever with a dirty doctor backstage (mentioned at times in the narrative as "Dr. Beefcake") and no one ever gets bigger in size but everyone's going wild with the drinks, drugs and pills. Really adds that "sleazy shady hardcore indy" vibe but I also had to think about Kajahara allowing and encouraging said doctor. Can't be that hard and dismissive on your workers when you're employing a dealer in the locker room

Once again, I was caught between a rock and a hard place. I liked Nagahama, he was skilled and over, but still needed him with Morioka. Ogiwara... well, he was Ogiwara; he gassed out and predictably enough, I overbooked the hell out of this match to hide their shortcomings. Somehow though, fans did not give him any flak this time and damn was I amazed! Anyway, I went for the middle ground, trying to give every man a takeaway from this match: Ogiwara ended up in the Nagahama Guillotine but refused to tap out, forcing a stoppage finish. As for Lee... yeah, I unleashed a torrent of profanity on him, but no one seemed to question my decision. Man had managed to turn the entire locker room against him and crap on my patience for not firing him already. He'd said he'd change, but didn't. I felt like I had a new Lamprecht in my hands. He knew he'd f**ked up and didn't say a word back, but as soon as I told him he'd also be getting half of his pay for the night, that finally seemed to get under his skin and into his chemically numbed brain.</p></div></blockquote>
  21. Nope, I just have a self-imposed limitation that PPA deals will only be offered to Japanese workers, while gaijin will be brought in for tours. Given the limited availability of hardcore workers in Japan at this point, I'm running a pretty limited roster, at least until some young lions outgrow that status.
