  1. Very much appreciate the nominations. Some great stuff going on this month. I have a bunch of active diaries alright, but pretty sure none under that name. Perhaps you meant my CVerse97 one as NGW?

"The Steppe Cowgirl" Anna Twirl, Konrad Mäkinen, Menace and Ripper LeStat will be jumping ship to Tuesdays and Proving Grounds. In exchange, Back to the Future will be getting "Mile High" Adam Matravers, "The Louisiana Pitbull" Robert Howard, "The Bratva Bruiser" Dovydas Vidmar and Jeri "Air" Behr. Despite both shows getting equally good grades and ratings, fans and critics agree that Back to the Future is probably getting the most out of this deal, as both the Czars and the League of Heroes are back together on the same brand, while the highly promosing Jeri "Air" Behr will be amongst the likes of Fusae Etsuko and the NGW Women's champion, Joanne Rodriguez.</em></p>
  3. I aim to please: the women's division became a thing by popular demand, I'm probably bringing in ze Germanz for an short angle with Abominatszschi and I'm pretty sure the weircore world of CTUC can accomodate a guy in a giant fly suit. Maybe put him in a team with EL CHUPACABRA! since the project of him and Vanity flopped. Thing is, I'm trying to keep the roster down to a managable size so that everyone gets enough time to shine (not easy since I brought in the female workers) while also staying alive financially. Playing the game with 2 shows a month to make for the Regional Wars pop losses is not something I'd like to do, same with using the editor to bump up my available funds. Here's a little quiz for you all while you're waiting for the next show: who do you believe is the owner of CTUC and who is my user character? Guess right and you might have the chance to be featured on a future episode of the Calvin & Jerry Podcast!

Afterwards, I adjusted my posture on the chair and picked up my notes.</p><p> </p><p> As good of a broadcast deal I thought I had struck with Mexico Verde, the income just wasn't pouring in fast enough to help me reach uncle 'dido's target number in time. Lucha Final was not just the final show of the 2016, it was also the final EMLL show that aired on that channel before our initial one year deal expired. Once that was over, I decided I'd rather take a chance and invest some more money on our production values in order to reach a new station instead. Canal Tres were willing to negotiate and they gave us a spot early in the evening so we could still reach the younger audience. With EMLL Prueba Tu Fuerza 2017 marking our debut on Canal Tres, I now had the numbers to run a comparison and evaluate whether my gamble had paid off. I mean, nation-wide coverage was an upgrade on its own and the bump from almost 15 to 40 thousand viewers should be expected, but what really mattered for me was the TV Revenue. Seeing it had nearly quadrupled, I knew I'd made the right choice.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="Ae98ZpW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Ae98ZpW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="cJx6orc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cJx6orc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> Senor Montero understood my position and instead of demanding a share of the fresh profits, he actually agreed to take almost a $500 pay cut when he came in to "negotiate" the extension of his contract. It wasn't the same with Death's Head. I mean, he wasn't greedy, but he hadn't exactly done much to justify his continued existence on our roster, let alone a pay raise. Sure, at age 25 he still had time to grow, but there were plenty of youngsters doing better or improving faster than him. I already had an undead character in Guerrero Muerto and as far as being a big bruiser went, he was hard to sell when folks like Mítico and Boriken looked bigger than him.</p><p> </p><p> Thinking about Death's Head made me realize that despite featuring a pretty athletic product, EMLL lacked what you'd actually call a typical "monster heel". El Jeffe Militar had long been on my radar, but I decided to check the market once more in hopes of finding a masked luhador that could fill in that spot. And while I did not find that, I discovered something else that completely blew my mind.Moments later, the deal was struck and I was about to call uncle 'dido to break the news to him, but first I was curious as to when and why exactly SOTBPW were dumb enough to let such a man walk away. Again, I didn't get what I was looking for, but I stumbled upon something way more interesting. But first, some context.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="l2oNyp3.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/l2oNyp3.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="Qzq3r9O.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Qzq3r9O.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="YsFPRIU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YsFPRIU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="3osuvMX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3osuvMX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> Uncle 'dido, or El Bandido as everyone else knew him, made his name in the now-defunct MPWF before he had his golden period, in terms of success, between 1999 and 2005, when he was the SOTBPW champion on four separate occasions, churning out awesome matches on a near-nightly basis. After that he returned to MPWF but in April of 2012, to the surprise of many, as by that time the promotion hadn't been yet hit hard by SOTBPW's meteoric rise, uncle 'dido left his twenty-year home of MPWF in order to set up his own group, EMLL. Clearly, that didn't sit well with "Mr. MPWF" Domino, the man who had risen to be that company's figurehead and subsequent owner, neither did the exodus of most of his main eventers a couple of years later. Following the inevitable bankruptcy of MPWF and his own retirement from the ring, Domino had jumped ship to OLLIE where he worked as a road agent, before making a move after the retirement of previous owner Joaquin Soler. Now at the helm of Mexico's oldest promotion, Domino was out for revenge. Apparently he wasn't fond of our new nation-wide broadcast deal with Canal Tres and he made that sentiment known, with uncle Bandido returning the favour thanks to his own bitter memories of the man before he left MPWF.</p><p> </p><p> Things weren't going to get any easier, but then again, our new big signing would be a huge asset in this new battle. Well, at least until SOTBPW bought him back, I suppose.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46314" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:8px;">Extremo Mondo de Lucha Libre presents</span></strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">EMLL Fatalidad 2017</span></strong></p><p><strong> Sat W2 February 17</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Main Event</strong></p><p> La Estrella (0-2) vs Snake King (1-1)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Semi Main Event</strong></p><p><strong> Title match for the Campeónato de Histórico EMLL</strong></p><p> Blue Phantom (1-1) © vs DeCipher (2-0)</p><p> </p><p> Death's Head (1-1) vs Máscara Delfín (0-2)</p><p> </p><p> Delirium (1-1) vs Scorpion (1-1)</p><p> </p><p> Payaso Jr (0-2) vs Soda de la Uva Jr (1-1)</p><p> </p><p> Trickster (1-1) vs Zebra Man (0-2)</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

After two action-packed rounds with Lunatic never really losing control of the match, he topped it off with the Luna-Cycle and squeezed the last bits out of Crazy Miguel's life bar to win the match and remain on the EMLL roster.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Lunatic</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="vxsmsWk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vxsmsWk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7Gm9xOD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7Gm9xOD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Flamenco Fabuloso (1-1) vs Soda de la Uva Jr (0-2)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> If the visual hint of both competitors sporting purple masks wasn't obvious enough, they made a pretty big deal out of it as they spent most of the opening minutes of this match being awkward towards each other. This of course was only the start of what would be a match full of comedy spots, although apparently there was more than just that; the two men seemed to have good chemistry as opponents and Flamenco Fabuloso especially pulled off some actual wrestling moves, though in the end it wasn't enough to save him from his opponent's Grape Press finisher.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Soda de la Uva Jr</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="7nXiDsK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7nXiDsK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="m5c1lfe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/m5c1lfe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="jI4u1Uy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jI4u1Uy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Fray Valiente Jr (0-2) vs Payaso Jr (1-1)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> New Year and not exactly new faces, but plenty of luchadors who haven't been seen for a while returned to action in EMLL's first show of 2017. Apparently all of those men also made a New Year's Resolution to remain with the company too, because Valiente was able to win this match against the evil clown, a rare contest where Payaso Jr did more wrestling than comedy in the ring. Sadly, the magic just wasn't there, the two fighters did not click with each other and the actual match wasn't as good as it probably should have been. Maybe Payaso Jr should just stick to comedy?</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Fray Valiente Jr</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="T9WmXFa.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/T9WmXFa.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XJ4Zi5z.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XJ4Zi5z.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> El Medico (0-2) vs Trickster (1-1)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Given EMLL's gimmick of "lucha meets fighting game mechanics" it should come as no surprise that Medico's latest act is him being able to replenish part of his health bar during the match. This was mainly to get the fans going, as well as a showcase match to exhibit the talents of the younger, less exposed wrestlers. Orson did his usual thing of chaining hits into exciting brawling sequences, whereas Mäkinen, mainly known for his solid mat grappling skills, showed he's not only a competent striker, but a spectacular high flyer as well, a testament to his evolution towards being a much more well rounded worker. On the other hand, Giovanni Bruno seemed to have added some wonderful "this is awkwardly suggestive" technical grappling to complement his sleazy lounge lizard character, while Ricci had every base covered to the point where he might well be regarded as the standard bearer for the next generation of hot rookies coming in. Gandalfini brought the power, taking frequent pauses to flex his physique and with every man having his moment to shine, the match ended with Champagne Lover hitting the Lover Stunner on Harrison for the pin.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Army of Lovers</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="pyf9Pt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pyf9Pt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="PQHhWV6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PQHhWV6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="LFcPDbz.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/LFcPDbz.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="BJ5XbNO.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BJ5XbNO.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="TgQORsF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TgQORsF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="bGfQcLk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/bGfQcLk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NNIIGh4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NNIIGh4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> The League of Heroes (Captain Hero II, Robert Howard & Adam Matravers) vs The Czars (Marat Khoklov, Dovydas Vidmar & Andryi Boronin</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Boronin was obviously the unknown factor in this match, with the other five competitors having established rivalries as well as characters amongst them. Although the young Ukrainian ex-soldier and amateur grappler did have a brief stint with NGW, he was quickly sent to EWA once it was established in order to hone his chops and this match showed just this improvement within a year. His grapple-heavy offense looked crisp and sharp, a fact he seemed to emphasize over his military background as he methodically attempted to dismantle the opposition. His inexperience however did him in and despite his teammates' best efforts, Boronin was almost cut in half when Howard was able to hit him with a Bull Tackle, subsequently scoring the pin for his team.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: The League of Heroes</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="sma3Die.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sma3Die.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="PQHhWV6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PQHhWV6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="TgQORsF.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TgQORsF.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> As the losing team retreated and the winners recollected themselves, Captain Hero II motioned for a microphone to speak his mind.</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46461" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Hero: <strong>"Marat... Primarily a high flying luchadora, Darkness Cat found out that despite her size and power, Geena has no issue keeping up as she blended brawling and aerial moves into an exciting package. Cat was forced to change her tactics and upped the tempo in an attempt to wear out the veteran, but once again, Geena rose to the occasion and almost had the match won after Cat missed a smooth-looking moonsault. It's a pretty solid match too, with both men showing equal skill on all aspects of wrestling, though Lister seems to opt for a cleaner mix between outright brawling and stiff, precise puroresu-style strikes while Koller is most comfortable when he can sneak in shots using any foreign object he can get away with, such as the ringpost, barricade and even an exposed steel ring after he's removed the protective padding. The contest is pretty even, with momentum swinging back and forth as the two competitors trade controlof the match until Koller's ace up his sleeve, Viper McKenna, plays her part and distracts the ref as Lister hits the Kanobi Kutter. Garry Garret spends way too much time arguing with McKenna and not making the count, so by the time he realizes what's going on and drops down, Koller is able to kick out at two. The match continues and Lister tries to push harder, but another distraction from McKenna allows Koller to hit a low blow, followed by the Hamburg Rock City for the pin and Sebastian Koller's first ever title win since holding the Young Lion title back in mid-2012.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner AND NEW NGW Cruiserweight champion: Sebastian Koller</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="sma3Die.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sma3Die.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Show Rating:</span></strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="sma3Die.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sma3Die.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p>

Koller says he beat Akuma and then Matravers; he's tired of being made to jump through hoops in order to get his shot at the NGW Cruiserweight title. John Silver comes out and says he'll shut Koller's big mouth himself because tonight he has to face yet another former holder of that title... himself! Girl Power vs The Wrecking Krew In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Girl Power defeated The Wrecking Krew in 10:25 when Jeri Behr defeated Viv Jacobs with a surprise roll up while Paula Edwards was distracted by Darkness Cat at ringside. Darkness Cat showed up during the match looking to steal the EWA Female title belt which she held before Edwards defeated her for it, but apparently she wasn't aware that Edwards recently lost it in a match against Thea Davis! Once she realized her prize was nowhere to be found, she made a quick escape to avoid the wrath of Edwards, but her retreat was cut off by none other than Geena the Warrior Princess, who proceeded to attack Darkness Cat before ringside crew stormed the scene to separate them! Double Dutch vs Violent Mood Swings vs Young Guns In a decent match, Young Guns defeated Double Dutch and Adam Matravers and Robert Howard in 9:36 when Badass Bantom defeated Adam Matravers by pinfall with a Smoking Guns. Anna Twirl vs Fusae Etsuko vs Melanie Flyman In a decent match, Fusae Etsuko defeated Anna Twirl and Melanie Flyman in 11:16 when Fusae Etsuko defeated Anna Twirl by pinfall with a Darkness Falls. Edward Cornell cuts a promo, saying he's tried everything to get back at Bantom for attacking him at Back to School, but keeps running into roadblocks due to the brand split. John Silver comes out and says a single victory proves nothing, as it may have been just plain luck, so tonight Koller must face another former holder of the NGW Cruiserweight title, "Mile High" Adam Matravers. Jeri "Air" Behr vs Darkness Cat In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Jeri Behr defeated Darkness Cat in 10:25 by pinfall with a Standing Moonsault. During the match we also had Geena The Warrior Princess distract Darkness Cat when she tried to reclaim her stolen amazon necklace, leading to a tug of war between the two. Unable to recover from the fight quick enough for a chase, Geena The Warrior Princess gets on the mic and goes off on a rant about how much she hates Darkness Cat. The Ivanoff Brothers and The Johanssons are backstage; The Ivanoffs say that since the brand split, they're the only team on NGW that could compete for the unified Tag Team titles. Signe Lytjohan tries to make an argument, but the Russian brutes aren't having it and they shove her away to shut her up. Obviously, that doesn't sit well with the Johanssons and all four of them start brawling. A host of road agents and staff have to pull them apart. "The Moscow Mauler" Marat Khoklov vs Ripper LeStat In a decent match, Marat Khoklov defeated Ripper LeStat in 12:21 by pinfall with a Moscow Lariat. 20. Calvin: "Darkness Falls" also happened this Sunday... Jerry: It's that time of the show again, isn't it? Calvin: You bet it is and I'll admit I was pretty curious to see what they'd pull off this time with the move to a new time slot after midnight. I mean, last time they added women's wrestling out of nowhere... Jerry: I think "out of nowhere" describes their booking and presentation in general, but let's not get ahead of ourselves... Calvin: So opening contest, Dr. Funkenstein versus Tyrell Starr in another two star match like the ones CTUC has us used to... nothing special, but fans seemed to be into it and both men were having a lot of fun being silly, so it put some smiles on faces and got things going on the right foot... Jerry: And No one got injured, though quite a few black people were probably offended with all the stereotypes on display... Calvin: It's a lot of tongue in cheek stuff, they're treading a fine line before being outright offensive... Jerry: And Starr got the win... Calvin: Starr got the win, which he needed if he was to salvage any credibility and just to point out what a threat he is after beating a disco dancer... Jerry: Mikey Malice attacked! Calvin: Which actually makes no sense, because Malice beat Starr and it's not like they're scheduled to wrestle again... Jerry: Like I said Calvin, out of nowhere... w Calvin: Once that was over with, we had a six... person tag match between Club Exotico and the males of the I-don't-know-how-many-sins group... Jerry: Another solid two-star bout, as per CTUC's high quality standards... Calvin: Can't say anyone really stood apart here, either as great or terrible... Jerry: Except maybe Tiffany Poe at ringside... Calvin: Speaking of Tiffany, I figured she'd be the target once "Vanity" Ugly Bob showed up in the middle of the match, but apparently he was after Sloth... Jerry: I think they're playing up the after-effects of last month's tag team match, plus if he did anything to Tiffany Poe, that would fire up Wrath and the Sins would lose the match. They were penciled to win, so he went for Sloth to keep the feud going but not cost the Sins the match. Calvin: Well they did pull that angle off, just not as part of the match, because there was a post-match brawl between the Sins and Vanity. Which I loved, by the way, because they all ganged up on Vanity and who showed up to make the save? Jerry: EL CHUPACABRA! Calvin: Which made absolutely no sense at first, but then they did that spot after the brawl where he and Vanity slowly turned around to face each other... Jerry: Like a cat staring into a mirror for the first time... Calvin: That was comedy gold... Easily the best angle on the show to not feature sexualized women... I hope they're going somewhere with that angle, maybe turn them into a tag team or something... Jerry: Well their interaction seemed to get a pretty good reaction from the fans, but they had a post-show dark match from what I heard and it was dreadful... Their timing was all over the place and one of them gave an opponent a minor head injury, so... w Calvin: Well that makes two, because I heard of another injury in the following match, which by the way didn't even make it past the two start threshold, if we're being honest... Jerry: I'd be surprised if it did, if we're talking actual wrestling, Moxley's the only one in that match who can go... maybe Orcus too. Calvin: Let me just say first, the setup was a mess to begin with. Like, how does a casket match work with a tag team? Do you have to trap both members or is it over as soon as one is in the casket? Then you make it a three way, so it's like... elimination rules? What is even going on here? Jerry: That's what I'm wondering throughout the entire show, Calv. Welcome to my headspace. Calvin: I'm guessing they tried to cover up that mess by having all six brawl around the entire venue, which is right up Powerhead's alley... Jerry: I thought that spot where Skullsy grinded his skateboard down a stairway railing to attack Orcus was creative... but clearly Skullsy botched it because Orcus caught him at an odd angle and I think he hurt himself during the landing... Calvin: Yeah so explain me this... Powerhead ends up picking up Killboy and throwing him onto some opponent's general direction, but he lands straight through a casket... so technically he was in the casket but he wasn't trapped in the casket... because, well, after that there was no casket... Jerry: I was confused by the finish too, but apparently so was Powerhead by whatever explanation the masked lucha referee provided him off the mic... Calvin: Think that was an accident so they had to improvise? Jerry: Perhaps we'll never know, thing is Powerhead goes even madder, he hits the ref and then he smashes all the remaining caskets, so now there's no way for the match to finish... Calvin: And this is where it gets even weirder... Jerry: Yes! Because the ref disqualifies Killboy Powerhead... Calvin: A DQ... in a casket match! Jerry: Which is worse than a DQ in say, a Hell in a Cell match, because in that case you know one man lost and the other man won... now Killboy Powerhead get disqualified, so who the hell won? Calvin: They did announce that the Bonechillers had won, but I don't know on what grounds... presumably because Orcus was injured and couldn't continue? Jerry: I didn't see him struggle though... whatever he had sustained, he was still able to wrestle and it didn't seem to hold down his performance! Calvin: Aaaaaaaand if you think that was odd and made no sense... Jerry: Holy crap, that main event... where to begin? Calvin: So we've established what the deal with Lust is... They call this is a "Strip the Flesh" match which sounds pretty gory, but turns out it's actually a bra and panties match... involving a transsexual person that probably no one wants to see in their underwear... Jerry: Well, that no one will publically admit it, at least... Calvin: And then there's her opponent... who comes out in a f***king gimp suit... doing the f***king duck walk as she marches to the ring... Jerry: That was... geez, that took offensive to a whole new level... Calvin: So her outfit is styled after an SS uniform but without the insignia... her music theme is grandiose and militaristic... she does the march but not the salute... It's like, we all know what this is supposed to be, but there's no outright connection... Jerry: It's like they're trying to dance around a copyright infringement lawsuit... filed by Hitler Calvin: Damn... I mean, Abominatrix was already hands down one of the most offensive gimmicks and characters, but her CTUC version... Jerry: Calvin? Calvin, you just mentioned her CTUC version and it dawned on me... Calvin: What, Jerry? Jerry: If Abominatrix is this kind of character and the promotion is supposed to be based in Chicago... does that make her...? Calvin: I don't know, Jerry... by this point? I wouldn't be surprised if Ugly Bob and his masked monster friend were supposed to come in dressed as the Blues Brothers and feud with her... Jerry: Whoever's booking this company is clearly on drugs. Or mentally ill. Or both. Calvin: Anyhow, back to the match that no one wanted to see: a transsexual and... that thing, in a bra and panties match... Jerry: Which still got the best reaction out of all that show's matches... should tell you a thing or two about the kind of people who are into CTUC... Calvin: This was the oddest mix of hardcore wrestling and eye candy stuff they could possibly come up with and it clearly overstayed its welcome... way over ten minutes, it was like what, twelve? Fourteen? Jerry: It was... way longer than it should have been. Assuming this match should have been in the first place... Calvin: Including the long-overdue finish, because of course we did end up seeing Lust in his/her/their lingerie after all... Jerry: But that didn't stop Abominatrix, who apparently took the subtitle of the match a bit too literally and grabbed her knife to literally "strip the flesh" off from Lust... Calvin: Speaking of which, that's an actual, working knife and not a prop... Jerry: Which is the cue for a new character to show up, Annabelle The Canni-belle... Calvin: Presumably drawn by the scent of flesh and blood, because cannibal... then she has the fight with Abominatrix over who's gonna eat Lust alive or something... Jerry: Then the rest of the Sins' females arrive in the form of Pride and Envy to save Lust and chase away the other two and the show fades to black... Calvin: And we're both staring at the screen like 'what the hell did we just watch'? Jerry: That was you, Calvin. I was like that way before the show went off the air. Calvin: I'm amazed this promotion still exists... I'm amazed any network let them pull off stuff like that... I'm amazed wrestlers agreed to do any of this... I'm amazed people watched that show, some of them even paid to see it live... Jerry: I'm amazed we're still covering their shows... Calvin: I mean... has no one taken action against this kind of stuff? Is this the wrestling we want? Jerry: So far, it's just been some hostile announcement from Lone Star in Texas and Left Coast UV... which is worse, because it means Chi-Town Urban Combat is actually making waves... if they're not threatened by it, it does at least register as a blip on their radar... Calvin: I don't know... it's been quite some time since I felt uncomfortable watching a wrestling show. I know they've announced CTUC Bad Obsession for next month, but if that's the kind of stuff they're producing, I'm not looking forward to it. Jerry: It's kind of a Bad Obsession though, like a train wreck you can't take your eyes away from. Calvin: It's just bad taste, Jerry. Some lines you just don't cross.
  21. Proving Ground, Wednesday Week 1 of October 2013 NGW Proving Ground (Weekly TV show) Held on Wednesday, Week 1 of October 2013 Venue: Berlin Metropolarena, Germany, Europe Attendance: 4.630, Ratings: 0.72 (540.400 viewers), Shown on Continental Sports X1 "The Rock and Roller" Sebastian Koller and Viper McKenna come out and criticize John Silver for his picks in the draft, saying that all the title holders ended up with NGW and people in this show have nothing to fight for. Koller says he intends to rectify this by losing whatever little fat is left on his frame so he can compete and take the NGW Cruiserweight title from Christopher Lister. John Silver comes out and says that's not so simple, but for starters he can show what he can do in tonight's main event against a former holder of that title, Shiro Akuma. The competitors for the opening match make their respective entrances, Roy Edison and Beast Bantom, who is now announced as Badass Bantom. The two men share an intense pre-match staredown with neither backing down while the announcers recap Bantom's attack on Cornell at Back to School and Edison's allegiance to the NGW Heavyweight champion. Roy Edison vs Badass Bantom In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Badass Bantom defeated Roy Edison in 8:03 by pinfall with a Savage Pounce. Geena the Warrior Princess vs Viper McKenna In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Geena The Warrior Princess defeated Viper McKenna in 8:15 by pinfall with an Amazon Plunge. During the match we also had Darkness Cat distract Geena when she stole the necklace that she had placed around one ringpost. After the match is over, Geena The Warrior Princess gets on the mic and goes off on an angry rant about Darkness Cat and the necklace she stole. Adam Matravers & Robert Howard vs Double Dutch In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Adam Matravers and Robert Howard defeated Double Dutch in 10:09 when Adam Matravers defeated Henrick van Bon by pinfall with a Highs and Lows. After the match is over, Matravers and Howard offer a handshake to their opponents in recognition of their skill and effort. Double Dutch hesitate for a second, but shake their opponents' hands and the four men celebrate as fans cheer them on. w Shiro Akuma vs "The Rock and Roller" Sebastian Koller (with Viper McKenna) In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Sebastian Koller defeated Shiro Akuma in 10:45 by pinfall with a Hamburg Rock City. Instead, Petter Eriksson comes out and tells him that he will be his opponent for tonight's main event match. A video package airs next, recapping how Marat Khoklov won the King of the Ring Starmageddon match for the right to face the champion in the main event of End of the World, how Edward Cornell won that title since and both men's matches at Back to School. The montage ends with a graphic announcing that its Edward Cornell versus Marat Khoklov for the NGW Heavyweight title at End of the World in December. "The Steppe Cowgirl" Anna Twirl vs Melanie Flyman In a decent match, Melanie Flyman defeated Anna Twirl in 10:13 by pinfall with a fast roll up. Joanne Rodriguez comes out carrying the NGW Women's title to a loud reaction. She cuts a promo on her victory, putting over Etsuko as a tough opponent and the title as a symbol of what women like Etsuko have done to elevate women's wrestling. 23. War for Territory #38 War for Territory #38 Saturday, Week 2 February, 2021 Live from the Centerpiece Bridge, SC Xavi Ferrera kicked off the show with a promo demaning a title match against Masked Patriot, since he was the only man on the Piledriver roster to make it past the first stage of last month's Rip Chord Invitational. He was cut off by Cali Slick, who laid his own claim to the title after he was stripped of it at Night of the Champions in December. The solution was provided by Piledriver Wrestling's authority figure in Gorgon, who set up two big matches for the night: Ferrera would be given his title opportunity tonight, while Slick would be facing the other two Inivtational participants, Ernest Youngman and Robbie Wright, in a triple threat match to determine the new #1 Contender. w Lora Washington, Laura Flame & Claire Winters vs Sawyer Sports Services (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer) Sawyer's group attacked Washington, Flame and Winters after their triple threat title match at Night of the Champions in December, which led to them requesting a 4 vs 4 match at War for Territory #37. As the broadcast duo filled viewers in, Melanie Trigg left that match with serious neck damage that would sideline her for quite some time, leading to Sawyer's group requesting a rematch this time. Fans were pretty into this match despite its overplayed setup in all sorts of variations and Winters scored an impressive win for her team after taking out Daniels with a Flying Knee Strike. Winners: Lora Washington, Laura Flame & Claire Winters, by pinfall Despite earlier announcements and in clear defiance of her doctors' recommendations, Melanie Trigg made an appearance wearing a neck brace collar to attack the winning team, only for it to backfire when Miss Atlantic Wrestling joined the babyface team to send Sawyer's group into a cowardly retreat. Logan Diaz & Nate DeMarcus vs James Diaz & Charger Siaki Before their scheduled singles clash, the Diaz cousins found themselves in this tag match, one that really upped the intensity just moments after the opening bell. Despite his flabby frame, Siaki proved tough and strong enough to team with the ripped James Diaz, while the athleticism of DeMarcus complimented the amateur wrestling background of Logan in beautiful fashion. There was certainly no love lost between the Diaz cousins and the ending of the match saw them brawling at ringside, while Siaki barely avoided a Snap Tackle to respond with his Crash Test finisher and score the pin. Winners: James Diaz & Charger Siaki, by pinfall Of course, the ending of the match meant little to Logan and James Diaz, who continued their ringside brawl in a preview of what fans can expect, before security struggled to pull them apart and send them backstage. COTT Tag Team titles match w Going Coastal vs The Good Ol' Boys © (with Vinny Cruz) Former title holders Going Coastal returned for another shot at the COTT Tag Team titles, with California Love Machine also carrying a niggling neck injury. No strangers to each other, the two teams put on another solid performance, with Langton and Fitzpaine trying to isolate CLM and work on his damaged neck. Fans were hot for the tag and Frankie-Boy Fernandes finally got it to hit the ring like a house on fire, knocking Wooton Fitzpaine onto Vinny Cruz who was on the apron, only to bounce back, duck under Langton's clothesline and catch him on the rebound in a rolling schoolboy pin. Winners AND NEW COTT World Tag Team champions: Going Coastal, by pinfall with a quick roll up Going Coastal win the COTT World Tag Team titles COTT Junior Heavyweight title match "Super Ninja" Fumihiro Ota © vs Riley McManus A match set up during the recent Rip Chord Invitational, McManus showed up to wrestle Ota for the COTT Junior Heavyweight title match and the two competitors told a compelling story in the ring between Ota's ninja tricks and McManus' grit. Once again, Ota's age showed inside the ropes and ten minutes were far too much for him to wrestle up to his usual standards, leading to a desperation move in order to retain his title when he put his feet on the ropes to keep the challenger down for the count. Winner: Fumihiro Ota by pinfall, illegally using the ropes for leverage Fumihiro Ota makes defence number 7 of his COTT Junior Heavyweight title Cali Slick vs Ernest Youngman vs Robbie Wright Up next was the semi main event established during the opening segment, a triple threat match for the right to challenge the Piledriver champion. Slick, Youngman and Wright all participated in this year's Rip Chord Invitational only to be eliminated during the quarterfinals, but that doesn't mean they're not great wrestlers, which is exactly what they proved in this match. Between Slick's hard hitting strikes, Youngman's slick suplexes and Wright's high flying, this match had something for everyone and really took the show to the next level, with Slick eventually getting the win after chokeslamming Wright onto Youngman with a Slick-Back. Winner: Cali Slick, by pinfall Piledriver Championship title match Masked Patriot © vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera This isn't the first time Patriot and Ferrera met and their familiarity showed, not just in their dodging and reversals but also in the way they methodically approached this match. Now also a two-time Piledriver champion, Patriot pushed Ferrera and fans were treated to a dramatic contest with some excellent in-ring action. Once again though, Ferrera went high risk with the High Impact Frog Splash and came up empty, allowing Patriot to hit the Patriot Slam and score the pin. Winner: Masked Patriot, by pinfall Masked Patriot makes defence number 1 of his Piledriver Championship title Show Rating:
  24. The Rip Chord Invitational XVI The Rip Chord Invitational XVI Saturday, Week 4 January, 2021 Live from the Sweat Box, GA Rip Chord Invitational XV Quarterfinals match "The Barbadian Barbarian" Donte Dunn (4C) vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera Though many Piledriver Wrestling fans may not be that familiar with the Barbadian Barbarian, the big brawler's natural charisma and athleticism quickly won them over. On top of that, he and Ferrera seemed to bring out the best in each other as they pushed to ever greater spots and as a result, fans were quick to come alive for this contest, an exciting opener that saw Ferrera come out victorious after he threw Dunn head first onto an exposed turnbuckle with a Ferrerarana for the pin. Winner: "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera, by pinfall Rip Chord Invitational XV Quarterfinals match "Super Ninja" Fumihiro Ota (CZCW) vs Robbie Wright One of the pioneers that popularized the high flying wrestling style in America, Ota was no stranger to the audience and they cheered for him, despite his character technically being a sneaky heel. This was exactly the story this match was focused on getting across, with Ota's trickery throwing Wright off his game for a quick win in just under six minutes after the COTT Junior Heavyweight champion blinded Wright with an unknown substance while referee Alvin Lavin was busy removing a shuriken from the ring. Winner: "Super Ninja" Fumihiro Ota, by pinfall after blatantly cheating Rip Chord Invitational XV Quarterfinals match Héroe (OLLIE) vs "The Assassin of the Squared Circle" Ernst Youngman Despite being a masked luchador, Héroe did very little high flying in this match. Instead, he stuck to his guns and his rock solid technical skills to put on a clinic alongside "The Assassin of the Squared Circle" that wouldn't be out of place in Youngman's former home of NYCW. A very open, back and forth match, this one got a great response unlike what one might have expected from an actual wrestling clinic and a Superkick from Héroe sealed the deal to send him to the next stage of the Invitational. Winner: Héroe, by pinfall Rip Chord Invitational XV Quarterfinals match Ross "The Boss" Henry (NYCW) vs Cali Slick Last of the quarterfinal matchups, this one featured two men with lots of similarities as well as many differences. Slick wasn't shy about going there either, insulting the fallen Henry as "fake" and "a show off" between outbursts of his own offense. Arguably the most intense and hard-hitting bout of the first round, this brawl saw both men bring their A game but it was Henry who got away with the win after powering out of a Slick-Back chokeslam attempt to respond with his own Earthquake Powerslam finisher. Winner: Ross "The Boss" Henry, by pinfall During a brief intermission, Claire Winters took to the ring and addressed her former tag team partner's recent announcement on social media, the fact that Eri Sato had just given birth to a baby boy. Winters gave the audience something to cheer about and wished Sato all the best for her and her newborn, saying she's itching to see her back in action and reform the Kick City Connection! Rip Chord Invitational XV Semifinals match Ross "The Boss" Henry (NYCW) vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera Both men went through the first round over opponents that shared a lot of similarities with themselves and this second stage saw them facing another legitimate athlete in the race for the finals. They also wrestled pretty physical matches in the quarterfinals and the toll that took was evident in this one, but Henry had the smarts to play possum and avoid a High Impact Frog Splash to hit his own Earthquake Powerslam next and win it. Winner: Ross "The Boss" Henry, by pinfall Rip Chord Invitational XV Semifinals match Héroe (OLLIE) vs "Super Ninja" Fumihiro Ota (CZCW) Speaking of exhaustion, how about the toll that years of high flying and aerial spots have taken on the 46 year old Ota... While he may have gotten away with a quick and dirty victory in the opening round of the Invitational, wrestling a second match on the same night clearly exposed his waning stamina and Héroe had no problem in grounding him and hitting another Superkick for the pin by the seventh minute of their match. Winner: Héroe, by pinfall Riley McManus came out next and Georgia fans gave the hometown hero a roaring welcome. McManus cut a textbook babyface promo to praise Fumihiro Ota for his contributions to wrestling, but quoting his own career and what MAW, COTT and Piledriver mean to him, he added he can't bear to watch a man so much past his prime represent the Junior Heavyweights of COTT. Though no small man himself, McManus said he'll drop to just below the weight class limit in order to get a match against the Super Ninja and hopefully bring that COTT title around the waist of a man who can properly represent the alliance. Piledriver United States title match Reaper © vs Julius Moor Providing fans and wrestlers alike with a little break between the semifinals and the Invitational's big final match, Reaper hit the ring to defend his US title against the big man who has set to destroy all big men, Julius Moor. The match began as a wild brawl all over the place, but the two big men soon paced themselves to avoid getting exhausted too early and after the exciting start, the match switched to a showcase of stiff shots back and forth, given how the two men were unable to use most of their power-based slams against each other. This did however make the finish all the more special, as Reaper finally managed to put both hands on Moor's throat and lift him up for the Death Bomb, a somewhat shocking outcome for some but absolutely expected after TCW announced, just days before the Invitational, that they had signed Moor to an exclusive contract. Winner: Reaper, by pinfall Reaper makes defence number 2 of his Piledriver United States title A pre-recorded message from James Diaz aired next, in which the young wrestler cut a quick, basic promo to answer his cousin's challenge and accept. Rip Chord Invitational XV Final match Héroe (OLLIE) vs Ross "The Boss" Henry (NYCW) Probably the first Rip Chord Invitational finals ever, or at least in a very long time, to not feature a representative of the hosting promotion, this match was still very well received by the live audience thanks to the skill and popularity of the two finalists. Henry came out carrying the NYCW Empire title belt in a show of strength and confidence, but that didn't seem to scare Héroe who has also won championship gold in OLLIE, albeit no singles titles yet. The match was grounded from bell to bell, with no high flying on display but some great wrestling still, especially every time Héroe managed to lift up Henry for a suplex. Both men rose to the occasion, performing above and beyond exhaustion in a fierce display of fighting spirit despite this being their third match of the night and after going to the well one too many times, Héroe saw one of his suplexes reversed with a standing switched into the Earthquake Powerslam that secured the pinfall. Winner: Ross "The Boss" Henry, by pinfall Ross Henry wins the Rip Chord Invitational Challenge title Piledriver Wrestling's champion Masked Patriot came to award the Rip Chord Invitational to Henry and the winner cut a victory promo to celebrate his win, putting over Patriot, Héroe, the invitational itself and all of this year's competitors.
