Unlike the promotion's usual trend of having people cash in their title shots almost immediately after getting them, Collier and the Architect had to wait for several months since they won theirs in June, it was all worth it though in order to fight the fight on the grand stage of Where It All Begins Again. However, that was an I Quit match and as such, had been much of a hardcore brawl; with most of the action now kept in the ring, the two behemoths wrestled a proper wrestling match and one that was far from the slow plodding hoss fight their big frames would suggest. With Jebediah being deceptively agile for a man his size, the match had a pretty good pace and every move had gravitas to it, both narrative and physical as the ring shook. What also shook was the head of referee Alvin Lavin, after Reaper pulled him in the way as a human shield to avoid the full force of a charging avalanche. With the referee down, there was no one to count the pin seconds later when the champion hit the Sundown Splash. That was the story this match built upon, while the execution itself was based on teamwork: the Good Ol' Boys' long experience working together versus the Stars' intuitive understanding of each other in the ring. Vinny Cruz added his personal touch to it all until Tennessee William took him out by smashing his guitar on the sleazy manager's head, the signal that the action was about to pick up. Making full use of the leeway provided by the rules, Winchester got the jump on Patriot and threw him to the outside of the ring for a wild brawl at ringside and even between the front row seats.An exciting contest that picked up the pace of the show, this saw the two men trade blows around the ring and by the time they returned inside it, they'd brought all sorts of foreign objects with them. Buck's plan backfired though and those weapons turned out to be his downfall when he got hit with a Patriot Slam that drove him back first onto a ladder. <p>I would argue that in today's day and age, with the death of kayfabe and the rise of social media, fans know so much about the wrestlers' real lives and struggles, it becomes part of their in-character and storylines. AEW especially does a great job on that and it's evident on how they not only acknowledge but use the struggles of Cody, Moxley and Spears in WWE to do promos and tell a story, how they use Being the Elite to expand on narratives, how they're building on the Runnels' past for Cody vs Dustin, then Rhodes vs Bucks and now Cody vs Spears with Tully Blanchard on his side. NJPW does the same in a different manner: knowing the real life connection between, say, Shibata and Kenta, Naito and Takagi or Ibushi and Omega, adds a whole new dimension of drama and storytelling when you watch a show where that comes up.</p><p> </p><p> This diary and Historian's writing has managed to do the exact same thing, but using TEW and these forums. We already know the workers from their bios, their struggles, their relationships but the narratives manage to build on those, expand them and update them as the game world evolves. After so many narratives about McManus, he <em>really feels</em> like the Cornerstone of CWL, he's not just named that because of his time with the company and his achievements with it. With all the naratives between him and Lisa Bowen, it felt special to read him wrestling Spencer Spade with Lisa on Spade's corner, then we got a post-match narrative that dealt with exactly that. The Devil's Rejects feel like a group because we've had narratives of them chilling together backstage. KC Glenn's flight to Japan and his big return were all the more impactful because of the narratives around his love story with Marjorie Oxford, not just because he's a good worker with solid pop.</p><p> </p><p> I'll admit I'm a sucker for good visual presentation in a diary; it doesn't have to be flashy, but I won't bother if there's not at least portraits of the wrestlers on display. I struggle to stay focused and interested when there's a wall of text involved and I imagine several others do too. Historian has managed to provide great stuff to read and he's been making minor graphics updates on the way too, covering both bases. There's a reason why The Climb has been going on for so long and has been so successful.</p>

I do the same with my workers who are injured but could work through it. It's fun to see Torment, who came in as the third wheel (who couldn't yet wrestle) next to Scythe and Hellion, now lead the group helping build up the Acolyte and Moloch. Vasquez losing kinda makes sense, I guess, as does Flame losing to Strong, even if I'm biased against Alicia. Thought the Cummos could do it, but if Kurt is so behind it might be a bit too soon.

Honestly, I had the whole demon-fire-ash connection in mind and never realized that both this wrestler and the actor of Evil Dead share the same last name! The Demon thing can be spun into a storyline for a potential heel turn too. In my NGW diary of 16 in-game years, I've signed Marihito Masuko and did a story where he (as a babyface) tapped into some dark force to overcome some obstacles; it slowly ate him up from the inside and he struggled to contain it, until he fully turned heel because of it. Not saying you should do the same with Ash, but it's a way to build up a heel turn down the road. Also, come to think of it, Demon Ash Campbell and Leper Messiah are bound to have some very interesting interactions...
