I mean part of me thinks theres no way he becomes a serious champion, but if lets say he KO's Akiyama in the first or second round without a major medical suspension (like his last fight) his hype train might be big enough to fight Vitor in the fall (if Vitor doesnt fight for the title, but with this long of a lay off a warm up fight might be best anyways)

on the other hand, what if Silva wins, and vacates to 205 like one of the possible scenario rumors? Wouldn't Leben have to be one of the two fighters to go after the vacant belt? Who else is there that could get a title fight beginning next year (one fight from now)

- Leben

- Vitor

- Shields (if he chooses to stay at MW, and if this scenario happens it might be best instead of a GSP fight, but w/e its all hypothetical anyways)

- Bisping

- Belcher

I would say Leben def. could be top 2 out of that bunch

  3. I thought the televised fights went down pretty well last night. Little dissapointed in Simpson but I wasn't expecting him to become some phenom like some wrote him out to be anyway, but I cheered for him since with his short hair and goatee he looked like Vitor.

Hammil/Jardine was entertaining, kinda disagree with the finger poke taking away a point though, just because it did damage Jardine loses a point? Of course it did damage, its a thumb in the eye! but yeah, he lost the 2nd and 3rd rounds anyways. interested to see if its his last UFC fight or not since its one the loyalists and puts on good bang bang fights which keeps you your job.

McGee did a good job with the 3ish throws that he did so nice takedowns there. wonder who they will put him up against next. I dont see many of the cast staying with the UFC since in the past 2/3 seasons they have def. gone more the way of entertainers for TV than fighters for the UFC.

Overall it was a good night I thought, Hammil/Jardine and Simpson/Leben would have been solid main card fights on a PPV IMO so I was looking forward to those more than TUF since I only watched the first 3 episodes this year since they pretty much cut out all of their training now and I liked watching to learn before and not watch idiots in a house

  4. This is kind of random but figured someone might have read/saw something, anyone know why GSP wasn't at the UFC Fan Expo? My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Vegas next year to see a fight and as he's her favorite (big surprise) but it would be hard to pull off a trip there to see him fight since well, what if he doesn't have a fight in Vegas! So I threw out what about trying to make the fan expo next year since at least you would get to meet him like you want (we were planning on staying in the hotel the fight is at and going to weigh ins to meet people) so I go online to show her this years expo and autograph sessions and he wasn't there! So that hurt my argument...
  5. Then who do youw ant him to fight? Him fighting Forrest dosn't make as much as you sense as you said, Forrest beat him and is coming off a win. So what does Forrest gain? If he wins people will just say Rampage is going down hill and lost it since he just lost to Rashad after such a long lay off.

They seemed content on pushing Vera (eventhough I agree with you on not liking him) before so there is def. upside. If Vera wins he gets a big name win and gets back on track, if Rampage gets the "easy" win he gets back on track. Most of the top LHW are booked anyway. Besides if Rampage really is retiring after his contract (as he said before but he also said he was done fighting before and not finishign his contract so who knows) then why push him at all? That's why I think a Machida fight makes sense since eventhough they are coming off losses they could headline/co an event and get the PPV buys making the UFC money

Your post also is very contradicting. You start out by saying Vera would be able to hold him up against the fence, implying he could control the fight and win from the clinch. Then at the end you say Vera has no business fighting upper level fighters and not to say Rampage shouuld be fighting C level cans. So which is it? You can't say Vera would control Rampage then call him a C level can and say Rampage shouldn't be fighting him and he's a contender.

  6. I truely thought Evans was knocked out in the 3rd. He wasn't defending himself will Jackson laid in his shots and Dean didn't stop the fight. I have always hated how sometimes refs will let a fight go on, but stop others quick.

Tonight to me didn't prove anything, Evans didn't want to stand up with Jackson. Jackson wasn't as quick as he's been in the past (mainly because of his rust/cut down of weight). I think the rematch (if we get one, which I believe we will) will be much better.

hmm, you might be right. Your post screams "I'm a ****"

    hm, let me guess......

You see Evans as the more dominate of the two fighters because he was quicker, naturalized Rampage against a cage 60% of the fight, and got a nice shot in at the begining. It doesn't matter to you that Evans stalled, he ran away from Rampage, and didn't want him to get any motivation.

Now was this smart, yes. For the first time I saw Evans use a game plan, but to sit here and say Evans is the more dominate fighter when Evans has had 2 fights since Rampages last fight and has trained consistently over the year is retarded to me.

Rampage looked slow, not aggressive like before in this fight with Evans. He had to cut 30-40 something pounds as well for the fight. Rampage rocked him in the 3rd (rewatch the video) he get a couple good licks on Evans with him not defending himself. I have seen plenty of fights like that where the ref would call a fight after the second lick with no defense.

Rampage was slow, rusted, and not completely prepared. When he gets that rematch he will beat Evans, if not I will receded my remark about you and never talk in this thread again, but I doubt he loses.

While the first user to reply might have been harsh your replies def. scream "I;m a Rampage fan Rashad shouldn't win lalalalalal dont wanna hear it"

Rampage landed what 3 punches from standing then the 5 when Rashad was on the ground? I dont think Rampage even threw 20 punches. You talk about Rampage Rocking and how he should have TKO'd him in the third but casually pass over Rashad rocking Rampage in the first.

The whole fight was pretty straight forward. Rashad leaped in and out landing a few punches at a time and took him down a few times after he lured Rampage into an exchange or he pushed him up against the cage. Was he the most active against the cage? Of course not. But you can't say Rashad was stalling, why didn't Rampage just get his a$$ of the cage wall? Exactly. Once again you cannot blame Rashad for "running away" isn't the whole point NOT to get hit? What do you want him to do stand right in front of the one dimensional Rampage and wait to get hit? And what about Rashad GnP in the third? He landed more strikes on the ground than Rampage did when the "fight should have been stopped"

Rampage has been a conservative counter fighter his last few fights and I think he went into this fight thinking Rashad was going to stand and trade with him like Rashad had been doing in fights and Rampage would be able to land stronger punches and win. He looked like crap plain and simple, slow, conservative, didn't want to do much at all, he didn't want to start or engage the stand up and he didn't want to try to take Rashad down either and try his own GnP. To me he looked like the one stalling and like he did not even want to be there. I don't know why he didn't go after Rashad after he put him on the ground, he just stood there afterward, very lousy and half assed. Call it ring rust or any other excuse, Rashad clearly won and for all his training Rampage clearly has to hate himself this morning.

Wasn't the most exciting at all, but if I'm Dana Rampage showed me far from enough to get a rematch. Give him Vera in 3/4 months if Vera's recovered (which i dont think he is) otherwise Machida

  7. didnt want to post this in the same post about Timmy but I am loving Bellator. Getting to see some great young studs and they seem like a down to earth promotion since theyre not all "were gonna take on the UFC and draw big ratings on network tv!", gonna make the drive up to Tampa if they come again next season or w/e they call it.
  8.
Sylvia's big thing is money like you said BH. I'm sure Dana would let him back in the UFC for the standard TUF contract guys (10K base and 10K bonus) but he would want like 100K a fight.

Strikeforce I can see if he gets some solid wins, but who is going to fight that would mean something to get those solid wins? The only fight I could really see him doing is a Barnett one possibly? But if Barnett wins in Australia (that is set right?) we will probably see him go to Strikeforce (if all is clear and well) I guess we could see Timmy vs. Kimbo but once again, who cares?

  9. well if the card wasnt so good i would of paid for kimbo if i had it. actually i thought he could of won if mitrione didnt through any leg kicks and it was a complete stand up, i thought kimbo was stronger untill the day of the fight when someone point out to me how crazy mitrione was. call me crazy but i like kimbo a lot and i thought he looked great the day of the fight, he was probably in the best shape of his life. rogers does have a better record but i still think he's just another stand up fighter but hopefully he rounds his game up more.

There are two major things wrong with that and is why on ESPN's streak for the cash (dont know how many of you do that, but you basically choose between A and B in predictions) 85% of people picked Kimbo, but I chose Mitrione.

As far as best shape of his life, that is far from the truth and works into the second thing that is wrong. Kimbo is old, that is a fact, he's 36. He is not a hot young prospect and no matter how much he has learned or improved he is still a withering athlete. He is also wasn't an athlete getting great medical treatment or anything before, just a street fighter and bodyguard, where even if he were say Liddell or Nog who are old and have problems, they have atleast had good medical treatment the last 5/10 years being on top. We even saw on TUF, Kimbo's knee is about to fall apart, he needed surgery and whatever else the details were.

Which leads to the second major thing, "If Mitrione didn't throw leg kicks and it was stand up" leg kicks are part of stand up and when you have an awful knee and in a sport where leg kicks are allowed and it only takes a few to get you to barely walk, yeah your chances aren't so good. It was great strategy to attack his bad knee. Saying if Mitrione didn't throw leg kicks Kimbo could have won is like saying if Mitrione just would have stood there and let Kimbo punch him in the face he would have won. Also as BH pointed out, Kimbo isn't a great stand up fighter as everyone likes to point out, where are these brutal KO's? Oh yeah, they're on You Tube.

His fight against Alexander was also a huge tell that Kimbo wasn't going to do that well. People hated on Alexander for not engaging but Kimbo never just walked forward and knocked him out either did he? And for as bad as people said Kimbo did, by the time the Mitrione fight came around everyone was talking about how improved Kimbo looked and what a great ground game he had against Alexander. The fight was a joke just like him.

Mitrione is nothing special but there was so much against Kimbo I really do not see how anyone with knowledge of the sport could pick him to win. You said you thought Kimbo was stronger yet he was undersized giving up 25-30 lbs (i dont remember exactly) and if he was serious should probably have dropped down to 205 but with all his whining about just dropping down to 215 we all knew that wouldn't happen, physically broken down, and didn't have the type of training his opponent did (even though Mitrione didn't finish/execute his subs perfectly lets see Kimbo try it). So as I said, Mitrione may not be a future HW champion there really is no way Kimbo should have been picked in that fight.

  10. The ranking system better have more to it or I am royally dissapointed. To pitch it as ground breaking and never before done I was expecting something at least interesting, and if it all it is is a fan poll...lame.

Biggest thing I loved were the backstage videos. I thought they were awesome and the production values were awesome. They tried it last week with RVD which I thought was a good segment then this week using Abyss, AJ, Neal/3D, and Flair were all awesome. Hell Flairs was his best promo he's done in TNA, it wasn't an old guy spazzing out, it was vintage Flair and I loved those. I also felt it gives them legit production value since their regular produciton values obviously are very cheap and poor.

As far as Morgan, I don't like what they have done with him as he was a top babyface on the verge of ME to now turning him heel but I like his "We/Us" character and how he talks with it, I think he does it well, but he is above Moore and Neal so hopefully Neal doesnt become a long feud.

Show was alright, nothing really sucked bad which is an improvement, I was hoping the HOF thing would be done by now but can't win them all. It seems like Abyss and Wolfe feuding would do more good.

Don't like how they've booked Pope either, he's getting over since I think most of us like him, but Hey I have an idea, lets have him get injured, that hasnt been done yet! Seriously? Since the new Year he gets injured one week, comes back next week with a cast or w/e, then gets injured the next, his medical bills must be through the roof. Please do something different with him besides getting injured, after all, you did have him beat the champion cleanly.

Also hate how they've used Styles since the new year how he went from legit athlete to weasel whiney useless heel overshadowed by Flair, he's lost on Impact cleanly twice then lost to RVD last week clean after RVD already went through a "war" with Hardy, I read Styles was upset about losing the title like he did since like Hyde said the original plan was for Sacrifice but they moved it up since they felt RVD being champ would boost house shows.

Samoa Joe is back, lets see what they do, I think he is best when he plays the no cares beat people up bad ass. Also after Terry has been squashing people he better not lose to OJ or that will be a total waste

  11. Holy crap a clean finish from the Knockouts Division!

I wouldn't exactly call that clean but I get what you're going for. The Knockout title has become pretty meaningless to me with all its changes as of late, but man, Velvet sure looks good.

BTW, what is with Moore being the Prince of Punk and having his Glam Rock catch phrase? Are we supposed to think Glam Rock is cool and not totally 80's and gay?

  12. Dissapointed in that for TUF as these last two seasons have had problems get the fight to work so throwing out the next title fight that far in advance I am skeptic over. However the last few seasons have sucked and this one seems the worst of them all so I may not even watch.
  13. Oh how about Mauro trying to get Shields to stop doing his interview and trying to interrupt Shamrock so he could spout his opinion (which the producers might have been telling him "Make sure you say this") at the end of SF? He just came off as such a Jack A$$ I wanted to punch my TV so that really ground my gears

    - Matt Millen becoming the GM and President of the Lions despite zero front office experience, best internship ever!

    - Dave Dombrowski for trading away Curtis Granderson to the best team in baseball in order to get younger and less expensive then sign an older more expensive player and trading away the top CF prospect two years ago along with trading away 3 of the top pitching prospects over the past 3 years then listing starting pitching as a problem, hmm i wonder why?

    - ESPN writers hating MMA, i just dont get it, Kevin Garnett can straight up elbow someone and some of them defend him "the other guy talked trash before the game" but the SF brawl shows the whole sport is a joke

    - People comparing the Ben Rothlesberger case to Pacman Jones, Rothlesberger wasn't even arrested or criminally charged with anything, Jones had been arrested 12 times...not the same thing people.

    - Ugly Americans for being the best new show on TV and making me addicted

    - Flash Forward because I like but know it will be ruined like Lost

    - Jennifer Anniston for playing the same character in every movie

    - Old people being allowed to drive, my move to Florida not scares me. True story, went to get my Florida license and you have to take a vision test, pretty simple, three rows of four letters you have to read, the old man in front me couldn't read literally 8 times, 8 "Sir there are four more letters" over and over, why are you letting him drive!? Yes, he got his license. Another true story, I was waiting to pull out of a U-turn 3 lanes each way boulevard and this car is taking for ever to pass me so I can pull out behind them, I'm like come on what are you doing? When she finally passes me going 10 miles an hour this old broad is scratching off a lottery ticket as cars zip by her!

    - People asking what kind of dog I have, seriously, its annoying people, not every old person in Petsmart has to know what kind of dog it is, shut it and mind your own business, I dont ask what kind of underwear you have on.

    - TV anchors getting paid lots of money. There are thousands of people that can do what they do and they make millions...WTF?

    - Kesha, or Ketchup or w/e and that Tick Tock song. I watch alot of late night shows/tv and she has 3 of my worst top 10 performances, I was literally laughing my ass off during this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju0m_vR1h4c

seriously WTF!? Think about it, there was a meeting and someone spoke up and said "Hey lets have a performance be moon landing themed"

"what do we do with the back up dancers?"

"We put them in space suits!"

    "Well what about the band?"

"We them them in astronaut outfits too!"

    "Even the drummer?"

"Hell yeah! It will be awesome!"

    And people agreed!

  14. My biggest one as of late with my age group graduating college/job searching is people on my facebook saying "Interview Tomorrow/Got the Job" etc. and then seeing everyone put "Where" a million times, is it that hard to say Interview at X company, or got a job at X company, or is it just that they are so desperate for online attention they love having people as "where" 10 times?
  15. Take this for what you will but for me I take it as clear evidence that SF told Miller to go in the cage. If you watch the video or watched it live,

    http://www.mmaweekly.com/blog/2010/04/post-fight-melee-ensues-at-end-of.asp

Miller is at the far right of the screen already in the cage, and they have the banner right behind Shields, you then see Miller walk behind the banner then pop up next to Shields. of course then things go down the drain. However he was clearly standing there and no one said anything, the Diaz's or Melendez had to clerly notice the dude not wearing their white camp shirts with a red streak in his hair and no one stops him from approaching Jake to say Hey what are you doing. If you watch the video it is Melendez that starts everything by pushing Miller, Shields didn't push him first (although he threw the first punch) So yeah, I think SF 100% told him to go in there, especially b/c the first words out of Coker's mouth were "I can tell you none of my staff told him to go in the cage" hmmm feel a little guilty? What they didnt expect was Miller to shove his face into Shields and have Melendez step in.

I also hate how people (media, fighters, and stupid Sherdog forummers) are asking "Well how did he get in the cage in the first place!?" So assuming SF didn't send him in...Umm idk probably b/c you dont need different credentials just to get in the cage? Why was Melendez there? How did he get in? He wasn't a cornerman during the actual fight. He just walked in since he also trains at Gracie. Everyone just kinda walks in and why would they stop someone who they know is a fighter and could be friends with Shields or Henderson or part of one of the teams (especially considering he used to train at Quest) since there were 50 people in the cage.

As for the fights, I actually enjoyed them more than the masses it seems, they weren't exciting, but I was entetained.

Mo vs. Mu- man talk about awful gameplanning, why didn't they switch up Gegard's strategy mid way through the fight? Hmmm I haven't KO'd him from my back yet, lets keep trying! Submission? Nah I'll only for a few in 5 rounds, sweeps? Pfft who needs that. Awful awful coaching and execution. Good job for Mo, his takedowns were good and I hate to see when guys go a whole fight without stopping takedowns against someone they know loves takedowns, what have you been training!? Where I was most impressed with Mo is his conditioning, he was gassed and had a swollen eye after two rounds but he kept the pressure so good job.

Aoki vs. Melendez- Thought Melendez would win just like Florian since very few Japanese fighters make the transition for numerous reasons. Once again, awful game planning and execution and once again he/they did the same thing for 5 whole rounds. Hmm I haven't caught him with a sub through 4 rounds, meh I'll just lay on my back some more maybe this purple belt (Melendez is only a purple right?) will finally let me catch him. Switch it up seriously people, in round 5 go for something stupid like a flying armbar, it may only be a 2% chance of winning but laying on your back getting pummeled isn't doing it, at least Leites tried stuff like that against Silva. Aoki didnt even go for any takedowns to be on top (that I can recall) awful awful job but Melendez looked good, good sub defence, picked him apart on the feet through the first two rounds, good job on the ground positioning, dont know who is going to fight next if he doesnt fight Aoki in Japan after Aoki's title defence.

Shields/Hendo- I wasn't sure on this one, I probably leaned more towards Hendo by KO but his age kept popping up at me, I wasn't a Shields fan before this fight as his last few SF/Elite XC fights weren't impressive but I'm with Shamrock and became a fan. I thought he was very impressive basically man handling Hendo after he escaped round 1. Little dissapointed he didn't finish the fight from numerous mounts so that takes away from the performance, Dan Henderson or not you should be able to finish from mount when your there 5 times

It seems he will be heading to the UFC but you never know so I won't say where I think he will go until it happens. If he stays in SF I dont want to see him against Miller as he would just take him down again and again like the first fight, Cung Lee would be a waste since I have said before I dont like Cung, maybe Scott Smith would be a good fight since Smith has some power, fighting Frank would be a waste as well since Frank stinks now, so yeah IDK, in the UFC I dont have a preference for 170 or 185, both GSP and Silva need opponents, I dont think a GSP fight would be as boring as everyone thinks, I think GSP would stand against him as why would he want to be on the ground with a wrestling black belt? As for Anderson, I think it would be boring if Anderson chooses it to be boring as Jake isn't real aggressive so I can't see him constantly shooting in like he would need to, so yeah, no real preference and Shields wouldn't really sell either one of those fights anyway since he isn't really known and has no charisma

  16. The owners simply decide to pocket the money instead of invest it into the team, there is little to no backlash/investigating from the league as to what teams due with money. Yes the Yankees get big tv deals but they have to split that money, yes the Pujols jerseys sell alot, but that is split up between teams (same with all major sports) bottom line is everyone can spend the money, they just choose not to. then to justify it for their fans they say its b/c they are in a small market.

An NFL example just b/c I know this and don't know MLB's stats, the TV deal revenue they share 100% cover all of the salaries for all teams, but teams (like my Lions) are still WAAAAY under the cap, why? b/c the owners like having a bigger profit because they get that big check and do w/e they want with it, when other owners like the Steinbrenners (back to baseball :p ) would rather have a lower profit margin (although of course they make money) and have a chance every year at the World Series

  17. Do you guys really watch wreslting shows for that stuff? You know no one is going to get naked or show their boobs and the majority of people watching TNA are probably 18 so can either A) go to a strib club, B) Look up porn C) Have a gf/date/part etc. so I think its a pretty stupid argument. The only people that really like that stuff are teenagers, I remember back watching the 'E and thinking it was all riskay and all that (oh my god a bra!) then you find the internet... why would someone tune in to see any of those divas "strip" when you can easily google lingerie/bikini pictures of them?
  18. Yup you, who called that!? take that people saying I was wrong in saying 8-10 was an experiment due to low ratings and the NCAA game was just a reason to do it, who's right now! Will be interesting to see what happens when they go up against RAW at 9 for the second hour instead of NCAA,

    1st hour= .91

    2nd hour= .79

    (i think if i remember)

so lets see if they reatain more viewres on the 12th
