The David Mack Chronicles: The CGC Era!

Recommended Posts

Two months down, and my 'grace' period is probably about over. On the positive sides, the ratings have gone up, although only about a tenth of a point, and the quality of the shows has either held steady or slowly improved, which means we aren't backtracking. And the biggest thing of all, especially considering that George DeColt said this was my #1, if you don't get this you are so fired, goal, is that we drew another good month of profit, despite the loss of the advertising revenue. We took a hit of about 60k on that but still cleared almost 200K, putting us at just under a half a million dollars profit for my two months here and well ahead of the average I needed to bring in to hit the 2.5 mil in two years. When I told Stomper what we brought in for the month, he nearly had a heart attack! He said he was lucky to see that much over an entire year, much less one month! I could sympathize, especially after spending a couple of days wrestling with NYCW's budget and Stomper's tightfistedness when it comes to contracts. But Alex was right when he told me that as long as we had a good PPV event each month, money shouldn't be a concern. But it wasn't all good news. Despite NOTBPW allowing their tv deal to lapse, they had significantly increased their lead over us the last month, their PPV's still got 25-30% bigger buyrates, and the buzz surrounding their main events outshine our by a wide margin. Plus, I can't seem to catch a break with half of the matches or feuds I have tried so far as that weird, wacko, making me almost actually believe in some mythical hidden 'destiny' stat, chemistry issues have derailed more than one budding feud. And the crowd only seems to really respond when it is the World Champion or one of the elder DeColts. That's fine for now, but what happens when the crowd finally gets tired of them, and we haven't built anyone up to take those spots. So I see a major goal is to try and get some of the talent in the undercard over some more so I can keep things fresh in the long run. Now, to see what is happening around the rest of the wrestling world that could have an impact on me. Here is the wrestling news for February 2008 News:

SWF's domination of the wrestling world continues as they are officially recognized as wrestlings first, and currently only, Global promotion.
Stephanie Hazel's protege, Amber Allen, a good looking 20 yr old blonde with excellent technical skills, has emerged this month. With NOTBPW's declining emphasis on the women's division, it seems unlikely she can get a position with her mentor, but with AAA still going strong, USPW's new women's division, and a willingness to work in Japan, she still has a chance for a bright future.
Hailed as the second coming in the lucha world, 18 yr old Gino Montero, the youngest son of Mexican legend Luis Montero, makes his debut this month and people are already saying he has the tools and abilities to be a world champion very soon and could surpass his legendary father in greatness.
Hiroshi Morisue who wrestles in the physically demanding WEXXV promotion, has suffered a ruptured spleen during a particularly brutal match, ( as if WEXXV has any other kind) and will be out of action until May.
One half of the UEW tag team champions, Beast Bantom, somehow managed to sit down wrong and broke his tailbone, putting him on the shelf for a month. No word has come down yet on whether he will be forced to vacate the belt.
A trio of notable female wrestlers hung up the boots this month. 39 yr old Nene Ebina, who had talent, but was setback by her working attitude, 37 year old Lioness Musashibo, who was a solid midcarder in Japan for many years, and former 3 time UCR Female Champion Alpha Female, age 37, all have decided to enjoy a post active wrestler role and move on to other interests.
James Justice, aka Liberty, is cementing his place as a popular figure both on air and backstage as he has publicly stated that Jim Force is an inspiration to him.
Citizen X is showing a reversal from his usual anti-social self in MAW, and has buddied up to Rip Chord's protege, Antonio.
Pissing off the wrong guy, Little Bill Lebowski has claimed he has the best submission skills in PSW, which didn't sit well with the Dean of Submissions, JD Morgan. No confirmation yet on whether 'Little' Bill has gained a couple of inches in height after an extended time locked in the Cross Atlantic Stretch.
Lorenzo Blanco is digging a deep hole for himself in OLLIE, as he has taken several verbal jabs at Luis Montero Jr, unfavorably comparing him to his newly debuting brother and legendary father. Since Blanco isn't all that secure in his secondary announce position, this seems a risky move for his career.
SWF moved to secure their Global status as they set up a PPV deal to broadcast their events in Mexico now.
Several new TV shows are making their debut in Mexico and Japan as OLLIE, MPWF, WLW, INSPIRE and 5SSW all have new shows starting this month.
Former SCCW champion Jesse Christian, after an extended hiatus, has returned to wrestling this month and is looking for work with a name American promotion.
Signings and Leavings:

With their recent expansion, SWF fills out their roster some more, bringing up Mario Heroic, who had just recently signed a development deal with RIPW, increase their staff by adding road agent Fabulous Frank from PSW, and referee Jez Macarthur, but their biggest coup is snagging one half of the Machines, and member of the megastable 'The Syndicate' , Brent Hill from their rival TCW. This will be a serious blow to their competition.
RIPW brings in Ash Campbell on a ppa contract.
SOTBPW wastes no time in snatching up Gino Montero and installing him in the upper part of the card. Of less significance, they also add Hijo del Mephisto to the roster while saying goodbye to Mario Heroic.
Toby Juan Kanobi has departed rival EWA to compete with USW.
WEXXV has signed manager 'General' Hayashi to a contract.
Brendan Idol has found a home in CZCW.
Scheming Behemoth finds work in EWA.
BHOTWG announce some additions for their latest tour in Mohammed El Yaaggoudi, Jungle Jack Marlowe, Acid, Rhino Umaga, and our own Shooter Sean Deeley.
PGHW brings in Java, Nathan Coleman and BURNING Exile for their new tour.
Title Changes:

Donnie J claims the vacant CZCW Coastal Zone championship for a second time.
Gonnohyoe Kada defeats Eien Miyamoto for the SAISHO Destiny title.
Warlord Power defeats Nicky Champion to claim the USPW Television title.
Top Ten Promotion Rankings:

1. SWF- Global
2. TCW - National
3. BHOTWG - National
4. PGHW - National
5. INSPIRE - Cult
6. GCG- Cult
7. WLW - Cult
8. USPW - Cult
9. NOTBPW -Cult
10. CGC - Cult
on the bubble SOTBPW -Cult
The big two in America dominate the top spots, with SWF enjoying a sizeable lead as the only Global promotion in the world. The mid ranks are dominated by the Japanese promotions , with BHOTWG holding a slight edge over PGHW. USPW and the top Canadian promotions round out the top ten this month, with the biggest promotion in Mexico, SOTBPW on the outside looking in.

Match Rating D- I learned my lesson from last week and put the Enforcers back in prelim time to continue working out the kinks. It was still a snorer of a match, but at least Jetson is starting to get back in ring shape and his work shows it. Jack & Alex DeColt defeated The Specialists in 7:52 when Alex DeColt defeated Bobby Thomas by pinfall with a DeColt Driver. Match Rating C Bonus match for the live crowd as Jack and Alex go over Elite by defeating the tag champions in a non title match. Not the best the DeColts can do, but then I told them to get the crowd warmed up, not to blow them away before the main show began. Main Show: George DeColt comes down to the ring and says that this is a historic moment in CGC and wrestling history. Tonight the commisioner says he is going to have a championship match, but not for any title in CGC. Tonight, the NYCW Empire Championship will be defended in CGC for the first time ever as NYCW Empire Champion Steve Flash takes on his #1 contender Grandmaster Phunk! Rating D+ Being booker of both NYCW and CGC does have some advantages, such as being able to make wrestling and television history. I bet Alex wouldn't have been able to arrange this. I just wish the fans had shown a better grasp of just how special a moment this is as their reaction was lackluster at best. Steve Flash defeated Grandmaster Phunk in 10:25 by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Steve Flash defends the NYCW Empire Championship Rating D- And just like that history gets flushed down the toilet. I don't know if they were nervous, or just put off by the dead crowd but this was far from what these men are capable of. I guess in coming to CGC, they came under the curse of the gods of wrestling chemistry that have made me their b1tch ever since I came here. I actually thought I could use this as something to give me a step up on Alex in the backstage politics, but now Alex can point out this was a total flop. There is a silver lining in that even though obviously I can't use their feud in NYCW here anymore, I did sign both of them to a contract with CGC, so I can utilize their talents to help me here as Steve has the ring skills to help our roster and Phunk has the mike skills. Plus both add some needed depth to our midcard. We go backstage and the Canadian Champion Trent Shaffer has a microphone saying " The real reason they brought in the geriatric group from the Tri-State is because yours truly told them to stuff it when they asked me to defend this belt tonight against that sad, pathetic clown Whippy! I am the most exciting and charismatic figure in wrestling today! I am the franchise and future of this business. If people want to see me wrestle, they have to pay for the privelege, and you Whippy, you have just begun paying for thinking you are worthy of being in the same ring with me! I am going to beat the paint off your face and send you back to the sideshow where you belong!" Rating C- Another decent promo from Shaffer who is coming along nicely in his ability to generate some heat from the crowds. David Mack comes out and says that even though he has been beaten by Elite twice in the past 3 weeks, he knows that he has what it takes to compete with the best that CGC has to offer, so he asked the commisioner for another shot at Dan DaLay. The commisioner granted his request and Mack says that tonight he will show everyone he can beat the so called 'Elite'. Rating C Well, even if I am not getting big wins, I can at least still work a crowd fairly well as I get a decent pop from the audience. Adrian Garcia , accompanied by Dan DaLay, says that obviously David Mack is clinically insane. Not only did he not learn his lessons from the previous beatings, but he has actually begged for the opportunity to be destroyed by the Elite again. Since the Elite are a merciful group, we will put Mack out of his misery tonight and into a hospital where this mentally ill man can get the help he needs. Rating D+ Even with Adrian's help, DaLay still can't work a crowd very well. Dan DaLay defeated David Mack in 10:03 by pinfall with a DaLay Down. Match Rating C+ Although the result is the same as the PPV, at least this match brings back some much needed quality to tonight as things weren't starting off too well. The CGC World Champion is joined by the grizzled veteran Eric Tyler as they discuss how they have a common goal tonight, to beat the hell out of the DeColts, namely Steve and Ricky. Tyler says he thinks they can do business tonight as he is always up for a fight. They shake hands and come to the ring. Rating B- A good crowd reaction and a nice way to hype two storylines at once. Ricky and Steve DeColt have their own meeting backstage saying this is a perfect opportunity for them both to get back at Eddie Chandler, and taking care of Eric Tyler will just be a happy bonus. Steve tells Ricky to go out there and show Chandler and Tyler why you don't mess with the DeColts! Rating B- Another good pop from the crowd and this should get them fired up for the main event. Eric Tyler and Eddie Chandler defeated Ricky & Steve DeColt in 9:52 when Eddie Chandler defeated Ricky DeColt by submission with a Fabulous Stretch after interference from Ryan Powell. Match Rating B- Very even match, with Steve taking control over both Chandler and Tyler. Unfortunately, things didn't continue positively for the DeColts as after Ricky tagged in, Tyler distracted the referee and Chandler landed a low blow to stifle his momentum. Tyler and Chandler then continued working over Ricky while Steve paced on the outside, desperate to get the tag. After several minutes, Ricky finally broke free and seemed to make the tag, but Chandler and Tyler distracted the referee again, and just as Steve made the tag and was about to enter, Ryan Powell ran out of the back and pulled Steve's legs out from under him, causing him to smash chin first into the ring apron. The referee didn't see this exchange, and Chandler then locked in the Fabulous Stretch while Tyler went outside and continued attacking Steve. After having been mauled for several minutes, Ricky was unable to withstand Chandler's painful hold, and had to tap out. Ricky was inconsistent in the ring tonight, fortunately there was enough talent around him to cover for it and we get a good tv main event while building heat for two different storylines. Overall Show C+ TV Rating 0.52 The main event helps bring up a weak early part of the show, but if the Flash-Phunk match hadn't unexpectedly tanked, we could have done better. Hopefully separately they prove to be more of an asset than their match tonight would indicate. At least the feedback from the fans was still very positive, as they left the arena on a high note. But we have seemed to hit a hopefully temporary plateau in the ratings.

CGC Title Bout Wrestling Held at the Varsity Arena Ontario, Canada Sunday Week 2 March 2008 Att: 2000 Broadcast on Maple Leaf Sports Dark Matches: The Canadian Enforcers defeated The Gilbert Brothers in 2:34 when Jon Jetson defeated Jesse Gilbert by pinfall. Match Rating E+ And we say goodbye to half of the Gilbert brothers as Joe is allowed to depart. He wasn't up to the standards Mr. DeColt was looking for in ability to tell a story in the ring, and although I probably could have re-signed him, Joe Gilbert isn't a battleground I want to test the owner's patience on. So, he and his brother get fed to the Canadian Enforcers to give them another easy win. Youth Energy drew with The Soldiers Of Fortune in 7:36 when the referee lost control and stopped the match. Match Rating D Bonus match for the live crowd and an opportunity to give both teams some work as neither figure prominently in any storylines at the moment. Truthfully, neither team has made a strong case for a run at the tag titles, so they get to keep in shape in prelim matches. At least this match was much better than the previous bout. Main Show: I am backstage, joined by my tag partner for the evening, Steve Flash. I say what an honor it is to team up with such an accomplished wrestler and I won't let him down. Flash slaps me on the back and says "Just do your best kid, that's all I ask." Rating C- Steve Flash's only drawback, which is a significant one in our style of promotion, is a total lack of ability to cut a promo or pump up the crowd outside the ring. Since I am blessed with those talents, I help him along here so he doesn't look so awkward. David Mack and Steve Flash defeated Zeus Maxmillion and Philippe LaGrenier in 6:22 when Steve Flash defeated Philippe LaGrenier by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Match Rating D This was a minor disappointment, more in myself than anything to do with the match itself. For some reason, I just wasn't feeling it tonight. Maybe it was jetlag from doing a show in the Tri-State the night before, but this wasn't my best performance. Granted this was more of a training match than anything special, but I was secretly hoping that Flash and I might have the makings of a solid tag team here, as I could use a "good" midlevel face tag team. Adrian Garcia is in the lockeroom with the World Tag Team Champions , The Specialists. He says " Just look at those bums that call themselves tag teams. With trash like that as your competition, there is nothing that can stop you two from keeping those belts for as long as you want. Just remember boys, they are garbage, and you two are Elite!" Rating D+ Giving the tag champs some promo time while providing them a little on air emphasis, both as champions and as members of the Elite. Newcomer Grandmaster Phunk is talking to Jenny Playmate backstage. Phunk tells her she is a fine looking woman and is wasting her time and talents here. He says that if she becomes part of his stable, he can have her making some serious money back in NYC as one of his ho's. Jenny gets ready to slap him, when suddenly a pie smacks into Phunk's face instead. The camera pulls back and shows Whippy the Clown pointing and laughing at the pie faced (literally) Phunk, and Jenny breaks out laughing as well , then walks away. Rating D+ No other reason than to utilize Phunk's and Whippy's acting abilities, and to have one of the zany spots that Whippy is known for. Plus it sets up the next match. Whippy The Clown defeated Grandmaster Phunk in 7:45 by pinfall with a Joke's On You. Match Rating C Phunk tries to get some payback for getting a pie thrown in his face, and bits of icing were still in his goatee. He immediately goes after Whippy and lays in some stiff offense in the early part of the match. Whippy weathers the initial assault and then rallies back. Both men trade momentum for a while, until Phunk goes for a Pimp Drop, only to have Whippy wriggle out and connect with a Joke's on you for the win. Finally, something goes my way as these two actually blended together perfectly in the ring. Whippy gets the win here as he is still the main contender for the Canadian Championship, but with both men able to work the mike and the crowd, and their ability to elevate each other in the ring, this could be the beginning of a solid midcard feud. Whippy jumps up and clowns around after his victory, but the good times come to a quick end as his rival, the Canadian Champion Trent Shaffer, rushes the ring and goes after Whippy. Whippy sees him coming and fights him off, but then turns around and gets blindsided by Grandmaster Phunk. Both Phunk and Shaffer then take turns getting their licks in on Whippy, giving him a good beating until the referees finally break it up. Rating D Continuing the Shaffer- Whippy feud, and in a happy coincidence, sowing some more seeds for a future Phunk-Whippy feud. Adrian Garcia is flanked by Dan DaLay and Ryan Powell and says just like last week, more and more people see eye to eye with the Elite that the DeColts are a cancer in CGC and need to be driven out. Another one of these fine gentleman is Ryan Powell, and he will join the enforcer of the Elite, Dan DaLay, in teaching those rotten bastard DeColts that their days are at an end and CGC belongs to the Elite and their allies. Rating D+ Since DaLay isn't charismatically gifted, and Powell doesn't have the credibility level yet, Adrian gets to serve as mouthpiece again. He gets a decent reaction from the audience, but nothing earthshaking. Jack and Alex DeColt respond back with their own promo saying how they are getting tired of time and time again somebody states they are going to finish off the DeColts, or they are going to take over, etc. And yet everytime, we are the ones left standing at the end, and we are the ones still here, still fighting for the honor of our family and the traditions of this company. They say that Dan DaLay has already felt the wrath of the DeColts before, but that Ryan Powell now gets to learn that you don't mess with the DeColts! Rating B Fortunately, all the DeColt boys are gifted with charisma, and Jack and Alex get the biggest pop of the night, getting the crowd energized before the main event. Jack & Alex DeColt defeated Dan DaLay and Ryan Powell in 12:33 when Alex DeColt defeated Ryan Powell by pinfall with a DeColt Driver. Match Rating C+ DaLay is able to hold his own against the DeColts, and Powell proves to be a tougher opponent than they thought as Alex got complacent early. But the DeColts quickly rally, and isolate Powell away from DaLay, leading to Powell getting laid out with the DeColt Driver and taking the loss for his team. Decent match, although a little below last week's main event. It still continues the DeColt-Elite war and the subplot of the Tyler-Powell alliance against the DeColts. Alex and Jack DeColt get their hands raised in victory, but then are attacked from behind by Eddie Chandler and Eric Tyler. Dan DaLay and Ryan Powell soon join in on the beating and Chandler and DaLay work over Jack while Powell and Tyler doubleteam Alex. Both Jack and Alex are laid out, Jack in the Fabulous Stretch, and Alex in the Tradition Lift. Fortunately, before too much more damage can be done, Steve and Ricky DeColt rush out of the back, steel chairs in hand, and drive the other four men out of the ring. They stand guard over Jack and Alex while the four heels throw taunts and make feints towards the ring. The show ends with all four DeColts in the ring, inviting their foes to step in and settle things. Rating B- Good way to close out the show , with all the paticpants in our major storylines out there and building heat towards our doubleheader PPV at the end of this month and beginning of next. Overall Show C+ Tv Rating 0.52 Another good, solid show, but we still haven't been able to take it to the next step to rival our main competition or the big two in America. Still, you have to lay a solid foundation before you can build anything worthwhile, and the foundation we are laying is looking very good.

CGC Title Bout Wrestling Held at the Quebec City Arena Quebec, Canada Sunday Week 3 March 2008 Att: 2000 Broadcast on Maple Leaf Sports TV Dark Matches: Commisioner George DeColt comes out to the live crowd and holds a contest for the sold out crowd with the winner getting free tickets and a trip for two to Vancouver for both days of the upcoming DeColt Wrestlefestival Doubleheader. Needless to say, this comes over big with the fans, as they enthusiastically cheer for the winner. Rating B- This is a match heavy show this week, so I wanted to get the live crowd pumped up before we began the broadcast, and I figured a free ticket contest to our signature event of the year would do the trick. Mr DeColt approved the giveaway, but said he would be the one doing the contest, probably so he can take the credit. Well, that is why he is a multi-millionaire, and I am still making a name for myself. Trent Shaffer defeated Jon Jetson in 5:48 by pinfall with a Heart Burn. Trent Shaffer makes defence number 4 of his CGC Canadian title. Match Rating D Shaffer gets another quick win to keep his momentum heading into his showdown with Whippy. I was a little ticked when Jetson tried to claim that losing here would damage his tag push. I advised him to be thankful he has a job at all, and if Ed Monton hadn't vouched for him, he would still be working the indy shows. Main Show: Ricky DeColt defeated Grandmaster Phunk in 5:57 by pinfall with a DeColt 45. Match Rating D+ Ricky gives Grandmaster Phunk the official DeColt welcome, i.e having him job for them. An average opening match, but nothing special. Eric Tyler is backstage with Ryan Powell. He tells Powell he wants to see that ruthless, take no prisoners attitude in his match tonight and go out there and kick some ass! Rating C Showing Tyler in his mentor role with Powell. Ryan Powell defeated David Mack in 5:45 by pinfall. Match Rating C- Powell gets the win as I let him control a good portion of the match, but this wasn't his best performance in the ring as he just wasn't 'feeling it' or something. I had set up for the matches to have mostly the upper part of the roster, but I am disappointed by what we have had so far. Eric Tyler is out in the ring and says "There is a man walking around here claiming he is the best that the Tri-State area has to offer. Now, since that happens to be my stomping ground, and I know no mother loving peckerwood I ever faced out there had the stones to claim he was better than me, lets get this self proclaimed 'King of New York' out here so I can show him who the real big man from the Big Apple is!" The curtain parts and out steps Steve Flash, who says that he fears no one in the ring, not even the master of the 'School of Tradition' himself and he gladly accepts Tyler's challenge. Rating D Flash's blandness on the mike offset Tyler's ability to rile a crowd, thus the crowd reaction was rather ho hum. Hopefully they can show in the ring why they are both considered legends in the wrestling business. Eric Tyler defeated Steve Flash in 10:05 by submission with a Tradition lift. Match Rating C This was an old fashioned wrestling clinic for the rest of the roster as the skill level of these two men was such that even a straight forward match like tonight looked crisp and sharp on every move and transition. It would take someone familiar with the nuances to realize that neither man was even giving their best effort or had any special connection other than experience and talent. After numerous holds, counters and reversals, Tyler manages to slip out of a Flash Bang attempt and slip in a low blow while the referee was out of position and then lock in the Tradition lift for the win. This was the best match of the night so far, and probably would have brought the house down if it had been held back in the Tri-State area. But neither man has that same level of fame north of the border. Still this was a good precursor to what these two could deliver if given a proper build. All of the Elite, minus Sean Deeley, are backstage and say that the combined force of the Elite is more than the DeColts and that decrepit Ed Monton can handle tonight as they continue their campaign to drive the DeColts out of CGC. Rating C- Deeley is overseas doing a tour with BHOTWG. I am somewhat concerned as a promotion like that is more suited to his skills than CGC, so he may think about either going over there more often or even taking a contract there, which would be a loss to us. Even if he just tours there regularly, it makes it hard for me to give him a strong push or focus as I can't rely on him to be here, like now. Chandler did all the talking as DaLay and The Specialists come off as mannequins in promos. The three elder DeColt brothers and Ed Monton state that they have joined forces to draw a line against the unchecked ego and intimidation tactics of the Elite. and that they welcome the opportunity to hand the entire Elite team a butt kicking. Rating C+ Monton ended up being a wet blanket on even the DeColt's legendary charisma. This was still the best reaction of the live part of the show, but not as loud as the DeColts are used to hearing. The Elite and The Specialists defeated Jack & Alex DeColt, Steve DeColt and Ed Monton in 9:22 when Eddie Chandler defeated Ed Monton by submission with a Fabulous Stretch. Match Rating C- All of the DeColts were in control when facing the Specialists and about even when taking on Chandler or DaLay, but Ed Monton proved to be the weak link as Chandler and DaLay were able to isolate him. The finish came when Monton was valiantly trying to get the tag and Jack was closest to Monton, but DaLay started stalking Hotstuff Marie. Jack noticed this and went beserk! He jumped off the ring just as Monton was reaching for the tag and went after DaLay with a vengeance, soon the Specialists joined in on the action outside the ring, forcing Steve and Alex to get involved. This left a weakened Monton alone in the ring with the World Champion, who took no time in capitalizing on the opportunity and clamped on the Fabulous Stretch to get the win for his team. Can you say clusterf**k? For a main event match with 4 of our biggest stars, that was a trainwreck. Part of it may have been the DeColts reluctance to lose a match involving several members of the roster lower on the pecking order, but as I have stated time and time again in the booking meetings, if one side never loses, then there is no tension, no mystery, and no real feud, which is what sells the fans interest and the PPV sales. Fortunately, Mr DeColt is still solid in his support of me, so I got my way this time, but more performances like this may erode that support as blood is still thicker than water, even up here in the frozen tundra. Overall Show C TV Rating 0.53 This was our worst effort since I first started, and the feedback from the fans the next day reflected the same opinion that they expect better from us. Our ratings held steady and hopefully the anticipation of the big Doubleheader PPV next week will help keep them that way, even after tonights less than stellar show.

Despite the match not being that great by my standards, there was some positive results out of this as Flash and I had that sixth sense that makes tag teams special, where you and your partner are in sync even without speaking. With the Canadian Enforcers not really impressing me much in their efforts so far, it looks like a tag team of Flash and me can fill the gap of a good mid level face tag team. This was the biggest event of the CGC Calendar year, the 2 day DeColt Wrestlefestival. In my case it was also the biggest amout of work to do in a short period of time as there would be two back to back 3 hr PPV's to try and prepare. Day 1 had to be good enough to stand on it's own, yet create enough drama to make people even more eager to tune in for the second day. I leaned heavily on the booking staff as we outlined the plans for the doubleheader. Day one would be crucial to the success of this event, but we didn't want to blow off all of our storylines at once, so this is the card we determined to run for The DeColt WrestleFestival Day1.... Whippy the Clown vs Nate Johnson Whippy has his sights set on the CGC Canadian Champion Trent Shaffer, and tries to build momentum by taking on another champion, one half of the Specialists, Nate Johnson. But Johnson is an accomplished veteran in his own right, and has really stepped up his intensity and his viciousness since joining the Elite. Can Whippy ride his hot streak through Johnson and to his showdown with Shaffer, or will The Specialist put a damper on the Clown's momentum? David Mack vs Trent Shaffer(c) for the CGC Canadian Championship Fresh off an upset win over the tag team champions earlier in the day, newcomer David Mack looks to make it two for two and this time to come away with a title. Canadian Champion Trent Shaffer, in his usual arrogant style, is already looking ahead to his prophesied humiliation of Whippy the Clown, and barely acknowledges Mack as a threat. Will that overconfidence cost Shaffer the belt? Or will the prima donna Canadian Champion make it with title intact for his meeting with Whippy the Clown? Ricky DeColt vs Ryan Powell What was just a personal grudge between the have's and have not's has escalated with the involvement of Ricky's brother Alex and Powell's new mentor Eric Tyler. Both men want to prove themselves, both to their senior partners, and to their own minds, which one is the best. Can Ricky overcome Powell one more time, or will the motivation of gaining his mentor's approval spur Powell to victory? Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay The DeColt -Elite war continues as Jack and DaLay fight in the secondary, but still important battle for control in CGC. Can jack score a victory for the DeColts? Or will DaLay strengthen the Elites position with a vital win? Alex DeColt vs Eric Tyler Tyler has thrown down the gauntlet , saying he want somebody to provide him with a good fight, and Alex has taken up that gauntlet, both to help his younger brother Ricky, and to show that the DeColts are still the toughest CGC has to offer. Neither man is likely to give an inch in this battle to be the biggest bull in the yard. Will the younger and porbably stronger Alex have the advantage, or can the experience and all around orneriness of Tyler provide him the edge? Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship SInce they were unable to come to a decisive result last time, Steve faces the World Champion one more time, with pride, honor, revenge, and power all at stake as each man tries to possess the symbol of dominance for their faction, the CGC World Championship belt. Can Steve overcome Chandler, take back the belt and defend his family name, or will Chandler once again back up his claim to be the elite among the Elite and CGC and retain his title? Whippy the Clown vs Nate Johnson David Mack vs Trent Shaffer(c) for the CGC Canadian Championship Ricky DeColt vs Ryan Powell Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay Alex DeColt vs Eric Tyler Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship

Whippy the Clown vs Nate Johnson David Mack vs Trent Shaffer(c) for the CGC Canadian Championship -Seems like Johnson and Mack have to lose to move toward the Whippy/Shaffer showdown. Ricky DeColt vs Ryan Powell -Via something to do with Tyler. Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay -To balance things out, since I'm picking against Steve in the main event. Alex DeColt vs Eric Tyler -Tyler can help Powell win, but I don't think that will help him against Alex. Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship -Too early for the DeColt's to get the belt back.

Whippy the Clown vs Nate Johnson Whippy's set for a shot at the Canadian Championship, Johnson doesn't really need to win here as he already co-holds the tag team championship David Mack vs Trent Shaffer(c) for the CGC Canadian Championship You put Shaffer over, as he picks up a little momentum ahead of his showdown with Whippy on Night 2 Ricky DeColt vs Ryan Powell Because you have to keep DeColt's momentum strong, I think he takes the win here. I don't think you'll job Powell clean though, and this will be decided via DQ following interference from Eric Tyler. Powell and Tyler will then get some heat back with a post match beatdown Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay Jack to continue a good night for the DeColts Alex DeColt vs Eric Tyler Ditto with Alex Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship However their good night, comes crashing to a halt when Chandler finds a way to retain the World Title, probably through some method of cheating and/or inteference

Moreover, with both Tyler and Powell losing, it sets the tone for a great comeback in the feud. Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship I already predicted a title contreversy, so I can't go with another one. CGC The DeColt WrestleFestival Day 1 Held at the Kamloops Royal Atletic Park British Columbia Canada Sunday Week 4 March 2008 Att: 15,000 SOLD OUT! Available on Canada -1 PPV Main Show: The PPV opens with Commisioner George DeColt telling Eddie Chandler that if any of the other members of the Elite interfere in the title match tonight, then he will strip Chandler of the World title. Chandler says he doesn't need anyone's help to beat a DeColt. Chandler starts to walk away, but then quickly turns back and levels the commisioner with a cheap shot! As Commisioner DeColt is rolling on the ground in pain, Chandler yells that he is the World Champion and no one tells him what to do! Rating B Huge reaction to start the show as the crowd was already a little pumped up following the end of the live tv show just before. This helps hype the main event and provides Steve DeColt a little extra motivation to try and defeat Chandler. Ed Monton, Jon Jetson and Steve Flash defeated Destiny, Fate and Grandmaster Phunk in 5:48 when Steve Flash defeated Destiny by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Rating C- My goof, and one I am sure I will hear about from Alex next week. So this was a bit of damage control. Whippy The Clown defeated Nate Johnson in 7:43 by pinfall with a Joke's On You. Match Rating C Whippy builds some momentum with a win over one half of the tag champions in a pleasantly surprising good match. David Mack says that tonight will be a banner night for him. He has already defeated one set of championship tonight, and now he has the opportunity to defeat another one and win the CGC Canadian championship. Rating B- Getting a win over the tag champions seems to have won me some fan support as I get a much stronger pop than I expected from the crowd. Trent Shaffer says that he doesn't know who this upstart David Mack thinks he is, but being new to CGC, he is obviously unaware that he is going to face the most charismatic and exciting person ever to grace this promotion, The evolution of revolution himself, Trent Shaffer. Shaffer states that Mack is going to learn the hard way why Shaffer is the Canadian champion and Mack is just another pathetic loser! Rating C- Not one of Shaffer's better promos as he isn't getting the same level of heat from the crowd he was a few weeks ago. Trent Shaffer defeated David Mack in 12:42 by pinfall with a Heart Burn. Trent Shaffer makes defence number 5 of his CGC Canadian title. Match Rating C+ A good back and forth match as momentum swings are plentiful. The ending comes when Mack goes to the top ropes for a Mack Attack, but Shaffer by either luck or design, staggers back into the ring ropes and succeeds in causing Mack to lose his balance. Shaffer quickly capitalizes with a Heart Burn to get the win and defend his title. I was able to get an excellent effort out of Shaffer for this match and it shows the potential he has. Unlike the warmup show, the matches here are showing a better quality. hopefully that trend will continue. Ricky DeColt is backstage and says " Tonight Ryan Powell, I show you and the rest of the world that I earned my place in this company and this business. The name DeColt didn't make my path easier, it made it harder because I have to live up to a higher standard, be that much better than anyone else. I understand your frustrations Ryan. I get how hard you have worked to get where you are in this company. But it is nowhere near as hard as I have. And now you have made it personal, and for that you will pay the price!" Rating C The youngest DeColt gets a decent reaction from the audience. It actually is tougher for him in a lot of ways trying to follow in his elder brothers' footsteps as he is constantly judged by their accomplishments. But if he stays focused and continues to work hard, there is no reason he can't someday carve out his own place. Ryan Powell responds to Ricky DeColt's comments by saying " Work hard, Ricky? Exactly how much effort was it for your daddy to give you a world championship you didn't earn? You are right Ricky, this is personal. It's personal because people like you are what is wrong with wrestling. People like you stand in the way of those of us with real talent and real ability who actually have to work to get ahead and then see some no talent hack get handed opportunities that should have been mine! So I am going to eliminate the problem by eliminating you Ricky!" Rating C- Average reaction for Powell, who still hasn't really elevated himself to the upper echelons yet despite his potential. Ricky DeColt defeated Ryan Powell in 17:51 by pinfall with a DeColt 45. Match Rating C Neither wrestler wastes any time in going after the other as this has become very personal between them both. Ricky and Ryan trade blows and moves back and forth as each is fairly evenly matched. The finish comes when both men are fighting on the top rope as Powell tries to land a Superplex. Ricky manages to slip out of Powell's grasp, knock him off the turnbuckle, and then fly off with the DeColt 45 to get the win. Good match for these two but nothing earth shattering. Ideally I should let Powell get a win here so I can set up a blowoff match, but I need to keep Ricky's momentum up per the bosses orders so Ricky gets the victory. But fortunately there are other ways to build up heat for a re-match. Jack DeColt is up next on promo and states that once again Eddie Chandler has committed the heinous act of putting his hands on their father. But since Steve already gets to take care of Chandler, Jack will settle for the next best thing and beat the living hell out of Chandler' s partner Dan DaLay! Rating B Jack gets the usual loud DeColt cheer as the crowd looks forward eagerly to another battle in the DeColt-Elite war. Dan DaLay defeated Jack DeColt in 17:52 by count out. Match Rating B An excellent match as it usually is between the DeColts and the main Elite members. Jack is all fired up and takes the fight to his opponent while DaLay tried to regain control with high impact shots and slams. Momentum swings back and forth for a while until DaLay gets in a cheap shot and then begins working over Jack with a series of clubbing blows and headlocks. DaLay continues dishing out the punishment and Hotstuff Marie, who has been cheering her man on from the outside, gets more and more frantic as Jack continues taking a beating at the hands of DaLay. Marie jumps on the apron, desperately trying to help Jack rally. It seems to work as Jack gets a second wind and starts to take control of the match. But then disaster strikes as DaLay is attempting an Irish whip on DeColt. Jack reverses it , but inadvertently propels DaLay into Marie, knocking her off the ring apron and into the safety railing. Jack immediately rushes out of the ring and to his fiancee's side. Marie isn't stirring, and Jack cradles her, yelling for somebody to help him. Attendants roll out with a stretcher, and Jack picks Marie up , places her on the stretcher, and goes to the back with her as the attendants wheel the stretcher away. But meanwhile, the match hasn't ended, and the referee begins counting. He reaches 10 and DaLay is declared the winner. Building on the storyline around Jack and Marie, while also continuing the DeColt -Elite story as the Elite get another win, and setting up something for tomorrow's show. All wrapped up in a very entertaining match with an intriguing conclusion. The camera is back in the medical room as the arena physician attends to Marie. Marie is still shaken up, and a distraught Jack is by her side, saying " This is all DaLay's fault! I swear to you Marie that animal will pay for hurting you! I will protect you no matter what!" Rating B- Setting up a match for Day 2 of the Wrestlefestival. Eric Tyler is interviewed backstage and says " Tonight, I finally get to see how tough one of these DeColt boys is one on one. Hopefully Alex can actually give me a fight because I am tired of all these moose humping peckerwoods I have had to face up till now. I get a tougher fight from the waitresses at the bar than I do from these candy ass wimps. Alex, come and show me this supposed legendary DeColt toughness! Come on boy, meet me in the ring and show me what you've got!" Rating C+ Tyler continues to get a good reaction from the crowd as he keeps portraying the 'grizzled tough guy looking for a good fight' to perfection. Alex DeColt responds to Eric Tyler saying " So Tyler, you want to see what I've got?! Well hold on to your depends Gramps, because if it's a fight you want, it's a fight you are going to get! I am going to kick your ass from one side of this arena to the other until you can't take the punishment anymore. Get ready old man, because here I come!" And with that, Alex charges to the ring. Rating A Wow! The DeColts always get a big pop, but the reaction Alex got from the sold out audience was deafaning! Alex DeColt defeated Eric Tyler in 17:56 by pinfall with a DeColt Driver. Match Rating B- A good old fashioned pier six brawl ensued as each man slugged it out toe to toe for almost 15 minutes. Finally, Alex manages to take control and after a series of clotheslines and a slam, then in a surprise move, actually goes up top to deliver a flying elbow on Tyler! Alex finishes the match with the DeColt Driver to get the victory over Tyler. A good match that should provide an excellent lead in to the main event tonight. Eddie Chandler is backstage and arrogantly states " Steve, I am going to do to you the same thing I did to your old man earlier tonight! I am going to knock the taste out of your mouth, beat you into the ground, and show the entire country that the DeColts are washed up, and that I and the Elite are the ones calling the shots around here! This title means I am the best this business has to offer and I will kick the living hell out of anybody who thinks they can take it from me, especially anybody named DeColt!" Rating B The champion gets a strong amount of boos from the sold out crowd as they get pumped up for the finale tonight and the rematch between Steve DeColt and Eddie Chandler. Steve DeColt responds with an impassioned promo of his own saying " Chandler, you have signed your own death warrant tonight. You made the fatal mistake of putting your filthy hands on my father again, and you are going to pay in blood! I am going to tear you limb from limb in that ring. I don't even care about the title just as long as I take you out like the disgusting piece of trash that you are! Vengeance is coming Chandler, and your journey to Hell begins tonight!" Rating B+ Strong reaction from the crowd, almost as loud as Alex got earlier. Hopefully the intensity of the crowd and the aura surrounding this match will offset the communication issues I know these two have in the ring. Eddie Chandler drew with Steve DeColt in 29:34 following a double disqualification. Match Rating B- This could only be described as a war as both men hate each other with a passion and neither man was giving an inch. Blows rained down back and forth as each tore into his opponent with a fury. There was very little in the way of any actual technical wrestling as each man was out to hurt or injure his opponent. The fight drifted in and out of the ring several times as each man looked for a way to cause even more damage to his opponent. Finally, things broke down as both men grabbed a steel chair and simultaneously brained each other with it. The referee completely lost control of the match and called for the bell, dq'ing both men. Chandler keeps the belt, but things are obviously still unsettled. I can only imagine how good this could have been if Steve and Eddie had been able to mesh together instead of having to overcome things to get a good match. Still they did manage to turn in a good main event, even if it wasn't the best match of the night, and set things up for a blowoff match to highlight the second day of the Wrestlefestival. Overall Show B- PPV Buyrate 0.29 A good start to what will hopefully be an even more successful second day. We probably could have done even better if the participants in the main event didn't have ring chemistry issues. Judging by the crowd responses though, some others besides the DeColts are starting to get support from the crowd. Surprisingly , I was one of them, and that actually may allow me to convince Mr DeColt and the rest of the booking team to let me play more of a role in the ring than I originally intended. But overall, the buzz for Day 1 was excellent as everyone felt it was a very entertaining and good show.

With Day 1 down and preparations underway for Day 2, I took a moment to catch up on any important developments elsewhere in the wrestling world. The news for March 2008 was.... News:

21CW were unable to sustain their recent momentum as a promotion and have had to make some drastic business and personnel cuts and now are back to being classified as a Regional promotion. This hasn't yet affected their tv deal, but their prestige has taken a hit.
Young Cole Taylor has made his debut in Australia. Reports indicate that he has the total package potential, although he is still very green.
La Sombra Jr, the grandson of the original luchador of the same name, has entered the wrestling scene looking for work in either Mexico or the US. He has the typical luchador skillset of flash and flying , although he does have charisma and a good grounding in the wrestling basics.
"The Rookie Monster" Primus Allen, all 6'4" 315lbs of rock solid muscle, makes the transition from college football to pro wrestling. Physically he is incredibly gifted for a big man, and has the raw talent and charisma to go far in this business. It's doubtful he will be unemployed for very long.
Injuries play a pivotal role in most wrestlers careers, and this month is no different as some well known names suffer more than scrapes and bruises. Jungle Jack and Shuji Inukai are both out for a month following a broken tail bone and a concussion respectively. Kozue Kawashima gets a more severe injury with a torn rotator cuff, sidelining him for almost three months.
In a really scary moment in Japan, the Awesome Kiyaru had to stretchered away after taking a very nasty fall to the ring floor during a 6 man tag match on the current BHOTWG tour. It was later confirmed that Kirayu suffered a devastating inury when his spinal column was almost severed. He is reported in stable condition, and has some movement in his extremities, but even the most optimistic estimates put him out for at least 14 months at best. All of the wrestling community wishes Kiyaru a complete and speedy recovery.
Two of yesteryears big names retired from the business this month when Jackson Andrews and Crippler Ray Kingman both decided to enjoy a well deserved retirement. Both were multi-time champions in several promotions in the 70's and 80's and both are well deserving members of the Hall of Immortals.
The other half of the legendary Demons of Rage tag team, Demon Anger, 48, chose to join his partner in retirement as he huing up the boots on his active career this month. He has won tag titles in four different promotions, including 4 TCW World tag title reigns. Anger still remains with USPW working behind the scenes.
The Iceman Alex Braun, 46, has retired from active competition to concentrate on his booking duties with PSW. He ends his ring career with two RPW championships, 2 DAVE Brass Knuckle titles, and 3 DAVE tag title reigns with 'Jelly Belly' Bradley.
Veteran luchador Rafael Ruiz, age 40, has decided that it is time to unlace the wrestling boots and go out while he is still healthy enough to enjoy it. Favoring a more technical style than most luchadors, Ruiz was a solid addition to any roster, and held the OLLIE Mexico title twice.
Junko Hayakawa, 43, a former 2 time NOTBPW Women's champion, retires this month, citing a need to concentrate on her personal life.
Referees are making enemies in both CZCW and CGC as Pee-Wee Germaine has managed to alienate Jeremiah Moose, and our own Coach Norman recently came under the verbal barrage of Lee Rivera.
On a more positive note, TCW officials are a tighter group than ever since Joel Bryant enthusiastically supported the work and skill of Kyle Rhodes in a recent interview.
SWF continues their global expansion plans after signing a PPV deal to broadcast their events in Japan.
Making a potentially risky move, several promotions, namely TCW, NOTBPW, GCG and SOTBPW, allow their current TV contracts to expire. Evidently feeling they can make a better deal during the next scheduling season, they sever ties with their current networks.
Signings and Leavings:

In a major surprise, USPW allows Bruce the Giant to leave. Bruce almost singlehandedly put them on the national map when he joined during Sam Strong's takeover, and his star power will be a big void to fill.
SWF completes the acquisition of Brent Hill, marking a major loss for TCW as Hill was part of their main stable.
BHOTWG calls up Heihachiro Sakai.
4C loses longtime veteran 'Phenominal E' Ed Larkins, but sign James 'Mainstream' Hernandez to replace him.
Due to budget cuts, 21CW releases Louie Peyton.
WEXXV also faces some financial issues and trims their roster, saying goodbye to Taheji Konoe, Zeshin Makioka, Kinji Akamatsu and Motoichi Arakida.
In a strange move, American Elemental allows his regular contract to end with WLW, but then signs a touring contract. Evidently he wants to leave himself open for other offers, but doesn't want to sever his ties with WLW. WLW also adds Bulldozer Brandon Smith, Jacob Jett, and Fox Mask to their tour and sign Eagle Kawasawa and Tsuraki Kamachi to the permanent roster.
PGHW calls up developmental talent Torch Nakazawa and Eien Miyamoto.
5SSW brings in Principessa, Amber Allen, and Emma Bitch for a new tour.
GCG sign up Snap Dragon, Merle O Curle, Frankie Perez and Insane Machine for their new tour.
Curt O Malley takes over road agent duties for PSW.
Title Changes:

The odd teaming of Davis Wayne Newton and Hardcore Killah defeat Phenominal Excess to win the 4C Tag Team titles.
The Stone Siblings, Jeremy and Dan Jr, win the Ed Henson Memorial Cup for the third time.
The Punisher makes Tank 'Jelly Belly' Bradley's PSW National title reign a short one as he defeats Bradley for the belt.
Brandon James captures his first SWF gold by dethroning Rich Money for the SWF North American title.
Stephanie Wade defeats Cherry Bomb to capture the USPW Women's Championship.
Saonji Omura defeats Ryu Kajahara to win the WEXXV Warrior's Heart title for the fourth time.
Top Ten Promotion Rankings: 1. SWF- Global 2. TCW - National 3. PGHW - National 4. BHOTWG - National 5. INSPIRE - Cult 6. GCG- Cult 7. WLW - Cult 8. USPW - Cult 9. NOTBPW -Cult 10. CGC - Cult on the bubble SOTBPW -Cult The rankings are mostly the same as last month, although PGHW has overtaken BHOTWG as the top promotion in Japan. SWF still continue to be two levels above anyone else worldwide.

With Day 1 out of the way, now it was time to try and close things out with a bang on day 2. Thus a couple of the feuds have been ramped up with the addition of special matches for both the CGC Canadian and World title matches. Therefore the CGC website advertised the following lineup for the CGC DeColt Wrestlefestival Day 2. Steve Flash & David Mack (Old School Warriors) vs Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson ( The Specialists)[/COLOR] (c) for the CGC World Tag Team Champions Mack & Flash have already beaten the champions once, but the belts are on the line this time. Can the newly christened Old School Warriors beat the Specialists and relieve the Elite of some gold, or will the Specialists continue their nearly year long reign? Whippy the Clown vs Trent Shaffer (c) for the CGC Canadian Championship in a ladder match This bitter and personal rivalry comes to a head as Whippy and Trent Shaffer finally face off again. To prevent Shaffer from taking another walk like last time, the Commisioner has decreed that the match will be a ladder match. The winner will be whichever man can climb the ladder and grab the belt before his opponent. Can Whippy usher in the era of the Clown Champion or will the prima donna Shaffer triumph one more time and keep his title? Alex DeColt vs Ryan Powell Alex defeated Eric Tyler yesterday and today takes on Tyler's protege. Powell came up short against one DeColt, but can really show he is main event material if he can score a win over Alex DeColt. Can Alex do to the student what he did to teacher, or will he suffer from overconfidence and allow Powell to score the biggest win of his career? Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay These two met yesterday, with DaLay getting the win when Jack's fiancee Marie took a bad spill at ringside. Jack blames DaLay for the accident, and is hellbent on getting revenge for himself and his fiancee. Will his rage lead him to victory, or can DaLay turn that anger against Jack and beat him two days in a row? Ricky DeColt vs Eric Tyler Tyler lost to Ricky's brother Alex the day before. He will be looking to make Ricky pay for that defeat. But Ricky is riding a wave of momentum after defeating Tyler's student Ryan Powell, and is now looking for the opportunity to continue that momentum and affirm that he has earned his place through his skills by getting a victory over the accomplished veteran. Can Ricky score a victory over the savvy Tyler, or will Tyler get back at Alex by beating up his younger brother? Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship in a Cage match. After two straight inconclusive matches, this blood feud will be decided in the brutal confines of the steel cage. This means that no one from either faction can interfere as Steve DeColt looks to get revenge for his family and his father and to undermine the power of the Elite by taking back the World Championship, while Chandler wants to maintain his grip on the top position in CGC and further both his and Elite's ambitions of dominance. Which man will prevail in what is sure to be a violent and bloody match? Steve Flash & David Mack (Old School Warriors) vs Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson ( The Specialists) (c) for the CGC World Tag Team Champions Whippy the Clown vs Trent Shaffer (c) for the CGC Canadian Championship in a ladder match Alex DeColt vs Ryan Powell Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay Ricky DeColt vs Eric Tyler Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship in a Cage match

Steve Flash & David Mack (Old School Warriors) vs Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson ( The Specialists) (c) for the CGC World Tag Team Champions The Tag division could do with a real shake up and The Specialists- Youth Energy feud for the titles has probably run it's course. I can See the Old School Warriors picking up the win, but via DQ, therefore the Specialists retain and the feud can continue, as OSW look like legitimate contenders- plus David Mack actually gets some FOCUS in CGC. Whippy the Clown vs Trent Shaffer (c) for the CGC Canadian Championship in a ladder match Outside of Whippy I'm not sure who can step up as a face right now to challenge for the Canadian Title, especially as I think your (Mack) team with Flash looks pretty serious. However I just get the feeling Shaffer will retain. Alex DeColt vs Ryan Powell Powell couldn't be Ricky so he sure as hell wont beat Alex. Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay Dejavu for Jack, as once again DaLay takes advantage of some shenanigans involving Hotstuff Marie Ricky DeColt vs Eric Tyler As much as l would prefer to see Tyler win as I think Ricky has been over-pushed. In my opinion he should still be competing with the likes of Powell and Shaffer for the Canadian Title, but your orders is that his momentum must be kept up, so he takes the win here. Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship in a Cage match It's the one of the biggest shows of the CGC Calendar, so send the fans home happy with one of the DeColts regaining the World Title from the Elite.

Steve Flash & David Mack (Old School Warriors) vs Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson ( The Specialists) (c) for the CGC World Tag Team Champions I'm never a fan of wrestling avatars being anything more than a trainer, but Steve Flash trumps that. Whippy the Clown vs Trent Shaffer (c) for the CGC Canadian Championship in a ladder match Might be wishful thinking, but I think Whippy's getting the win here. Alex DeColt vs Ryan Powell Ryan's not going over Alex, not right now anyway. Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay The big man gets the victory, extending their fued. Ricky DeColt vs Eric Tyler As much as I want Tyler to win, I feel that DeColt is going to get the victory to even out the DeColt/Elite win-loss totals. Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship in a Cage match I'm just a total Chandler mark. Sure me.

Steve Flash & David Mack (Old School Warriors) vs Bobby Thomas & Nate Johnson ( The Specialists) (c) for the CGC World Tag Team Champions -They have a name, so they have to win! Whippy the Clown vs Trent Shaffer (c) for the CGC Canadian Championship in a ladder match -I'm not really sure here, could go either way. I don't really like clown, so I'm not sure why I'm picking Whippy. Alex DeColt vs Ryan Powell -First DeColt win of the night. Jack DeColt vs Dan DaLay -First DeColt loss of the night. Ricky DeColt vs Eric Tyler -I'd like to see Tyler win, but there must be balance, and I'm going with Chandler. Steve DeColt vs Eddie Chandler (c) for the CGC World Championship in a Cage match -I like the DeColt's chasing the titles more than having the titles.

He gets the victory here to remind everyone that he is still an Elite member. Commisioner George DeColt is backstage with three of his four sons, Ricky, Alex and Steve. He states Jack refuses to leave Marie's side and she is still a bit shaken up from yesterday. The senior DeColt tells his sons that he is proud of them and knows they will do their best in their individual battles tonight, especially Steve as he takes on that sadistic weasel Eddie Chandler. He tells them no matter what happens tonight, that as long as they stay united as a family, no force can overcome them! Rating B- The boss giving a little pep talk to the family. Rating D+ The champions get about an equal reaction from the fans, only in boos instead of cheers. Old School Warriors defeated The Specialists in 9:55 when Steve Flash defeated Bobby Thomas by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Old School Warriors win the CGC World Tag Team titles. Match Rating C- Mack and Flash started strong, dominating the early action until the Specialists were able to regain control. They then isolate David Mack and work him over. After several minutes, Mack finally makes tag to Flash, who comes in and cleans house. Adrian Garcia tries to interfere, but gets an elbow to the face knocking him to the floor. Mack fights with Johnson on the outside while Flash connects with the Flash Bang. A three count later, and there are new tag team champions. We couldn't go both days without some kind of title change or changes, and the Specialists have been champions for almost a full year. And since Flash and I had a great chemistry going as a tag team, I indulged a little 'booker privilege' and moved the tag titles. Trent Shaffer once again says that he will humiliate, humble and otherwise destroy Whippy the Clown tonight and retain his CGC Canadian Championship when he climbs the ladder and grabs the belt. Rating C Retread of his promo from yesterday's tv broadcast, but since Shaffer scored a solid win yesterday, it gets more of a reaction from the crowd tonight, especially as they are finally getting the long hyped showdown. Whippy the Clown retorts in his interview that all the waiting is over, that tonight clowns everywhere will have their frowns turned upside down, and that he will be standing on top of the ladder, holding the belt as the new CGC Canadian Champion, and laughing down on the defeated Trent Shaffer. Rating C- Not quite as strong a pop as Shaffer got, but the Clown still has his supporters among the fans. Trent Shaffer defeated Whippy The Clown in a 1 vs 1 Ladder match in 12:56 when Trent Shaffer retrieved the item. Trent Shaffer makes defence number 6 of his CGC Canadian title. Match Rating C Lots of back and forth action and several spots with the ladder being used as a battering ram, or one of the wrestlers being pushed off by the other. The finish came as Whippy was going for a Joke's on You, but Shaffer manages to slip out and toss Whippy into the turnbuckles. He then lands the Heart Burn, rolls Whippy out of the ring, and then climbs the ladder and grabs the belt before Whippy can get back into the ring to stop him. Shaffer retains the CGC Championship. The match looked somewhat spotty as it was clear that Chance was out of his element in scripting a ladder match, probably having not ever had experience with that kind of match. The crowd still popped for the action and the big spots, but it lacked the flow of a well constructed ring psychology match. But for a secondary feud blowoff, it was still a decent bout. But it does bring up the need to investigate upgrading the road agent position. Alex DeColt is backstage saying " Ryan Powell, it just isn't your weekend is it? It is a case of 'out of the frying pan, and into the fire' for you as last night, my little brother Ricky got to kick you all over the ring, and tonight it's my turn to beat the hell out of you. Remember this as I am pounding you into the mat punk. Mess with one DeColt and you mess with them all!" Rating B+ Very strong pop for Alex, who seems to be the best of the DeColts at connecting with the crowd, although all of them are skilled at it. Either way, he still gets a big reaction, even though this is a lesser profile match than his showdown with Tyler the night before. Alex DeColt defeated Ryan Powell in 12:34 by pinfall with a DeColt Driver. Match Rating C+ Powell gives a strong effort and shows that he is no pushover as he does get a couple of quick near falls on Alex. But Alex also shows that Powell hasn't quite reached the same level as the former CGC World Champion has as he gains control of the match and then methodically wears down Powell until he is primed and ready to be put away with the DeColt Driver. Good match, but Ryan seemed a tad unmotivated in the match. Nothing major, just not one of his best efforts. Since he was basically out there to showcase Alex, and wasn't allowed to stay even with Ricky, he may have been feeling a less than total enthusiastic response to this weekend. But he is still one of those people who can eventually crack the main event and his time will come. Jack DeColt is backstage with his fiancee and manager Hotstuff Marie. He asks Marie if she is feeling okay and Marie assures him that she is fine. Jack then addresses the camera and says " DaLay, everything that happened to Marie yesterday is all your fault and tonight I am going to make you pay with your blood! For every second of pain you caused my sweet Marie to suffer, I am going to inflict a hundred times the agony on you. You are a rabid animal that needs to be put down! So for my lovely Marie, for myself and my family, I am going to make sure you can never hurt anyone again!" Rating B- Even though it was Jack who whipped DaLay into his fiancee, he has conveniently shifted the blame to his opponent tonight as he continues to sell a serious overprotective attitude towards his fiancee and an aggressive response to any perceived threat or slight to her. The crowd eats it up as they continue to give Jack and Marie the customary strong DeColt pop. Jack DeColt defeated Dan DaLay in 14:39 by submission with an End Of Days. Match Rating B- Right at the start of the match, Jack sent Marie to the back. Marie protested but Jack said it was for her own safety and Marie reluctantly complies. After that the match flows very similiar to their encounter the day before, with Jack going on the early assault, and then when his initial fury has run its course, DaLay then takes control and tries to wear down Jack. Jack eventually rallies, they trade several blows and then Jack reverses a DaLay Down attempt into the End of Days and DaLay is forced to submit. Good match, but not quite at the same level as yesterday's. DeColt gets the win here to keep things fairly even between the two factions, and to salve Jack's pride as he wouldn't be very happy about losing both nights. I am already having to listen to Steve DeColt complain about having to lose occasionally. Ricky DeColt is backstage and says that now he has dealt with the student, it is time to deal with the teacher as he is going to finish what his brother Alex started yesterday and show Eric Tyler that it is a mistake to make the DeColts angry. Rating C Ricky still doesn't get the same level of response that his brothers do, but then he doesn't have the same body of work they do either, despite his recent world title run. Eric Tyler states that he got a good fight out of Alex DeColt and hopes his pipsqueak of a brother can do the same. Then Tyler says that if Ricky can't make it worth his time, then he will just destroy the youngster as a favor to his protege and possibly motivate Alex into another round. Rating C+ Tyler gets his usual amount of heat, and continues to sell his tough guy looking for a good fight persona. Ricky DeColt defeated Eric Tyler in 16:02 by pinfall after using a foreign object. Match Rating C Ricky gets overpowered by Tyler for most of the match, but shows a lot of heart by refusing to stay down and kicks out of several pin attempts. During one of the exchanges the referee gets knocked down and out of the ring. After a couple more assaults, Tyler decides to finish off Ricky with a little help, and pulls a pair of brass knuckles out of his tights and attempts to knock out Ricky. Ricky ducks the wild swing, then kicks Tyler in the gut, causing the brass knuckles to go flying. Both men scramble for the knuckles, Ricky wins the race and nails Tyler with the brass knucks. He tosses them out of the ring, rolls the referee back in and covers Tyler. The still dazed referee makes the count and Ricky gets the win. Another case where things are different for me here than in NYCW. If this match had happened in NYCW, Tyler would have won here to even things out in the storyline and keep the tension going. But since my boss wants Ricky protected, he gets the win here instead of Tyler so I can keep my boss happy and keep my job. Fortunately Tyler is enough of a veteran to understand this and that I will make it up to him. The match itself was okay, but I had them rein it in a little so there was no chance of overshadowing the main event. That already has enough problems. Another video package airs recapping the feud between Eddie Chandler and Steve DeColt and showing clips from their last two encounters. It also hypes up the fact that tonight will be a cage match and their will be a winner. Rating B+ The crowd gets very excited in anticipation of the main event, especially as they know there will be a winner. Eddie Chandler is backstage and says " Tonight I finally remove that thorn in my side, Steve DeColt. Once you are locked in that cage, I will get the pleasure of permanently destroying one of those pathetic DeColts and there is nothing you or that inbred family of yours can do about it. Tonight I will show everyone once and for all that I and the Elite are the power in CGC and that the DeColts are nothing but washed up has beens who have been thrown aside like the trash they are! There is only one truth in CGC, I am the World Champion, and I am Elite!" Rating B Chandler draws some excellent heel heat and pumps up the crowd even more. Steve DeColt responds back and states " There is nowhere for you to run Chandler, nowhere for you to hide, and no one to save you from me tonight. In that cage, I will make you pay in blood for all the vile things you have done in CGC, and I will restore our family honor and the World title back to the DeColt family where it belongs! Enjoy your last few moments with the belt Eddie, because tonight will be the end of your championship reign and the end of the Elite!" Rating B+ Steve gets the loudest pop of the night as the amped up crowd enthusiastically responds to his intense promo. Eddie Chandler defeated Steve DeColt in a 1 vs 1 Cage Modern match in 24:47 when Eddie Chandler escaped the cage. Eddie Chandler makes defence number 4 of his CGC World title. Match Rating C+ A violent, bloody battle with both men using the cage as a weapon and both getting busted open by the end. For over 20 minutes, both men battled with no quarter asked or given. At one point Steve was at the top of the cage with Chandler still on the mat. But DeColt wasn't content with just winning, he wanted payback on Chandler for his family, so he came diving off the cage onto Chandler. But that decision cost him as Chandler was able to avoid the plunging DeColt and Steve crashed hard into the mat. This was all the opportunity Chandler needed as he crawled to the cage door . Steve managed to grab Chandler's legs just before he got out, but Chandler was able to kick his challenger off and scramble out of the cage, still the CGC World Champion! In retrospect, a cage match may not have been the best way to blow off this feud, as neither man specializes in brawling. But I wanted to emphasize that it would be a violent match , while not going to the lengths of some of the more extreme matches, and I wanted the fans to know there would be a winner after the previous two matches ended in a draw. And once again, despite the best efforts of both men involved, their continual lack of chemistry hampers the match and takes it from potentially great to merely very good. Which considering this was one of the signature shows of CGC, isn't really good enough. Having won the match, Eddie Chandler holds up the world championship over his head and mocks the dejected Steve DeColt , who is still standing in the cage, having failed to defeat his hated enemy. The rest of the Elite come out and surround Chandler, who continues to mock DeColt and the crowd as the audience rains down a loud chorus of boos at the most hated man in CGC, the World Champion Eddie Chandler. Rating B+ Chandler once again cements his status as the top heel in the company, and the only man outside of the DeColts so far who can work the crowd into a frenzy. Overall Show B- PPV Buyrate 0.33 Despite the main event not delivering to the level I expected, the overall show was still good. Again, it isn't where I would like it to be, but given the handicaps I had to deal with for the show, it is acceptable. Feedback from the fans show they enjoyed both events, and we did get a 10% increase in PPV buys for the second day, which is encouraging. Depending on how NOTBPW does this month, we may have narrowed the gap on them

Match Rating D+ Establishing our tag team reputation with a solid victory over another well known CGC tag team. It was an okay match, but I really need to find something more for the SOF than just being the midcard gatekeeper. Also, Rogers has to go as their manager because that dynamic just isn't working. As the Old School Warriors celebrate their successful title defense, the Elite's manager Adrian Garcia comes down to the ring and interrupts them. Garcia tells Mack and Flash to enjoy the titles while they can because the Specialists are coming for the belts. Garcia states that the Warriors have just made enemies of the Elite and their future will be short and painful. Mack and Flash tell Garcia to take this message back to the Specialists and the Elite, and then Flash gives Garcia the Flash Bang and Mack follows up with the Mack Attack. Both men then uncerimoniusly dump Garcia out of the ring to the cheers of the crowd. Chandler states that very soon, the Specialists will bring the tag titles back home, and that they can grab the Canadian title anytime they want, but they don't have a beef with Trent Shaffer. However, Chandler states, "We still have unfinished business with the DeColts, as they are still here and still running their mouths. Tonight we are going to teach all the DeColt boys that the Elite are still on top and still in charge, for now and for always!" Rating C- Predictably, the lack of any charisma outside of Chandler dilutes the crowd reaction a little, despite Chandler's best efforts. Still, it begins setting up tonight's main event. All four DeColt siblings are together, and say that they are one force, united in a single goal. To drive out the Elite and remove those who would destroy the good name of the DeColts and CGC, like Trent Shaffer and others like him. They say there is no force more powerful than family and that the DeColts will throw the trash out of CGC. Rating C+ The DeColts get a good pop although all of them together somewhat lessens the intensity of the segment. Jack & Alex DeColt and Ricky & Steve DeColt defeated The Elite and The Specialists in 9:32 when Ricky DeColt defeated Nate Johnson by pinfall with a DeColt 45. Match Rating C+ Decent main event, given the short time and the large number of participants. Predictably, given the bad blood on each side, total chaos erupted rather quickly. In the brawling and confusion, Ricky seizes the opportunity and nails Johnson with the DeColt 45 to get the win for his team. Switching things up a little so I don't have the same matchups all the time. Not as good as I hoped for, but still a solid main event as we begin a new set of storylines and match ups. As the brawling between the Elite and the DeColts continue after the match is over, Alex DeColt and Eddie Chandler square off in the ring and go after each other with a fierce abandon. The show ends with both men still trading hard blows. Rating B Good crowd reaction as I set up the next main feud with Alex as the DeColt standard bearer. Match Rating D All the other major tag teams face off in this 8 man tag match with Eric Tyler dominating the action for his team and leading the heels to the win. This was a good opportunity for all the teams to work on some little things as they all fight it out to climb the tag team ladder. Whippy the Clown is sitting in a nice luxury recliner backstage watching the action on a big screen when Grandmaster Phunk walks up to him and tells Whippy to stand up and get out of the Grandmaster's spot, as the Grandmaster only sits in style. Whippy pops up , brushes off the chair, and then steps aside and graciously ushers Phunk to sit down. Phunk sits down, leans back to recline, and suddenly a rude noise pops out. Phunk looks baffled and embarrassed. He adjusts the chair again, and another rude noise sounding like a gaseous anomaly occurs. Phunk glares at Whippy, who is pulling an innocent act. Phunk once more adjusts the seat, and once more farting noises ensue. Phunk gets up , disgusted and storms off. Whippy watches him leave, then lifts up the seat and pulls out a Whoopie cushion and starts laughing. Rating D+ Another DVD extra as I show Whippy doing some of his usual clown antics, this time at Grandmaster Phunk's expense. Main Show: The main show opens with Steve and Alex DeColt in the ring. They say that they are going to start with the Elite's lackeys The Specialists as they systematically take out the Elite. Rating B As usual, the crowd laps up the DeColts, who are still the most popular stars in the company and get the largest pops. At least it starts the live show with a lot of energy. Steve & Alex DeColt defeated The Specialists in 7:31 when Alex DeColt defeated Nate Johnson by pinfall with a DeColt Driver. Match Rating C A good match with the Specialists getting in some offense so they don't look like total jobbers. Since Alex is the next to challenge the World Champion, he dominates his portions of the match and gets the pinfall. Jack DeColt defeated Trent Shaffer in 8:46 by count out. Match Rating B The Canadian Champion has a tall task tonight as he defends the title against one of the DeColt brothers, Jack. Shaffer tries every dirty trick in the book, but Jack just keeps coming back after Shaffer. Shaffer finally decides discretion is the better part of keeping his belt, and the Canadian champion takes a hike, getting himself counted out. Now that is the kind of potential I was looking for out of Shaffer. Granted Jack carried most of the match, but Shaffer showed a great ability to hold his own against high level competition and deliver a fantastic match. This was better than most of the main events we have had over the last three months. David Mack does an interview backstage saying it is time for some payback against Dan DaLay. Mack states that Elite tried to bully him several times, but he backs down from nobody. It doesn't matter that DaLay has beaten him every time they have faced before as Mack has a never say die attitude and will keep getting back up every time he gets knocked down. Rating C+ I get a pretty good pop from the audience, especially as winning the tag titles is giving me some credibility with the fans. Dan DaLay defeated David Mack in 8:26 by pinfall with a DaLay Down. Match Rating C- Mack fights hard and controls the action early, but the big physical brawler DaLay starts wearing down Mack with high impact offense, culminating in the DaLay Down for the win. This was somewhat disappointing as I know I can do better, and our previous matches were better than this. DaLay continues to have my number in our matches together, but if they are going to underperform like this, there may not be too many more. Just beating David Mack isn't enough for Dan DaLay as he decides to send the young man a message for calling him out and after the match is over, DaLay renews his assault on Mack, delivering several blows and slams and finally another DaLay Down. DaLay leaves Mack laying flat in the ring, barely concious and in obvious pain. Rating C This got more of a response from the crowd than the match did. DaLay shows the usual agressive streak of the Elite. Eddie Chandler is backstage and says it doesn't matter that Steve Flash is one half of the tag champions, and has won belts in numerous federations in the past. Chandler states that the simple fact is Eddie Chandler is the CGC World Champion, and Steve Flash is not, and never will be. Chandler says he knows all about Flash's reputation in the ring, but that reputation means nothing because Flash has never faced Eddie Chandler. Flash may be 'Remarkable' but Chandler is 'Elite' and 'Fabulous'! Rating A After taking down two of the four DeColt boys, Chandler has earned an incredible amount of heat from the audience, and they are extremely vocal in their response to the World Champion. Eddie Chandler defeated Steve Flash in 10:17 by submission with a Fabulous Stretch. Eddie Chandler makes defence number 5 of his CGC World title. Match Rating C+ Steve Flash gives the World Champion a run for his money, but Chandler is at the top of his game and makes it look almost easy as he puts away the talented Flash with his patented and painful submission, the Fabulous Stretch. Decent match, but I was hoping for more along the lines of the earlier DeColt-Shaffer match, especially given that Flash is about five times better in the ring than Shaffer. Still, Flash does his usual good job of making his opponent look like a million bucks as Chandler came off very dominant here. Overall Show B- TV Rating 0.59 Buoyed by a surprisingly good match, and some very strong segments, this came off as an excellent show, and a big improvement of the previous weeks. They still aren't at the level NOTBPW was drawing before they let their show expire, but the gap is narrowing.

Farrah begins to look indignant, but at that moment, Whippy hands Phunk a large balloon animal that looks like a pig. Phunk takes the animal, pulls out his tie clip and goes to puncture the balloon animal. As he pops it, a bunch of white powder goes all over Phunk's face and suit as the balloon was filled with flour. Farrah and Whippy laugh and then walk away. Chandler tells DaLay to send Alex DeColt a message in their match tonight. That the DeColts are finished in CGC and that none of the DeColts aren't equal to any of the Elite, much less the World Champion. DaLay nods and says that he will see that if Alex makes it to Chaos in the Cage, it will be on crutches! Rating B Chandler really helps DaLay here as they get a strong heel reaction from the audience. Alex DeColt does his own promo and states " DaLay, the only message that will be sent tonight is the message that I am going to send to Chandler by beating the living hell out of you! You are going to serve as an example of what I am going to do to Chandler when I finally get my hands on him!" Rating B Equally good positive pop for Alex as the build for his eventual meeting with Chandler is going nicely. Alex DeColt defeated Dan DaLay in 13:14 by pinfall with a DeColt Driver. Match Rating B- Good, old fashioned back and forth brawl as both men eschew the more technical moves and just trade heavy shots and high impact moves back and forth. After over ten minutes of both men pounding the hell out of each other, DaLay whips DeColt into the turnbuckle, then charges in to deliver a spear, but Alex gets out of the way and DaLay rams into the corner post. This gives Alex the opportunity to deliver the DeColt Driver and get the victory. Good main event, which is definitely a step up from the last couple of shows. The crowd showed a lot of enthusiasm during the match. Alex DeColt raises his arms in truimph after defeating Dan DaLay. But the celebration gets cut short when the World Champion Eddie Chandler hits the ring and blindsides Alex with the championship belt. Chandler continues to deliver some more punishment, quickly joined by DaLay. Together they lay a vicious beating on Alex finishing with a DaLay Down and then Chandler locking in the Fabulous Stretch as Alex's face is bloody and contorted in pain. The rest of the DeColts come out finally, but Chandler and DaLay quickly retreat, having already done serious damage to Alex. Rating B+ Cranking up the build a little more on this feud as the crowd was very vocal in their booing during Chandler and DaLay's beating of Alex. Overall Show B- TV Rating 0.54 The main event and the build for the Eddie Chandler-Alex DeColt feud made this the second strong show in a row and hopefully will provide us some momentum over the next month as we set up the next PPV. Both men traded heavy blows, and both men showed a lot of heart and a high pain threshold as neither one would give an inch. This stalemate continued for over ten minutes until Dan DaLay wandered down to ringside, and started stalking Hotstuff Marie. As soon as Jack saw this, he immediately slid out of the ring to get in front of his fiancee to protect her. Then the Specialists came down to ringside and began circling around the other side. Since none of them had entered the ring, or laid a hand on Jack yet, the referee had no choice but to begin counting Jack out while Chandler just sat back and enjoyed Jack's predicament. DaLay was on one side of the outside ring area, and the Specialists were on the other, with Jack in the middle, and Marie huddled behind him. As this standoff continues, the referee's count reached 10, and Chandler won the match via countout. Good main event, but I was disappointed in some things in the match. I allowed our road agent Chance to give Jack and Eddie the option of calling the match themselves, as both are experienced, but both decided to no sell half the match, and both of them let the psychology of the match lapse. Their popularity levels and the general DeColt-Elite feud guaranteed the crowd would be entertained, but the match itself was badly structured and performed. With Elite surrounding him and his fiance Hotstuff Marie, Jack DeColt charges Dan DaLay, knocking him to the ground, and yells at Marie to run to the back. Marie takes off, and Jack throws himself at Eddie Chandler , knocking him into the Specialists to keep them from trying to follow. But now it is a four on one situation, and although Jack fights with the strength of desperation, the odds are too great and he is quickly beaten down. Jack is brutally beaten up and then subjected to each of the Elite's finishing moves, ending with the Fabulous Stretch being cranked in by the World Champion. Finally, the other DeColts come charging out of the back, but by this time Jack has already been seriously hurt and the Elite quickly vacate the ring, once again having inflicted heavy damage on one of the DeColts. Rating B- Adding even more fuel to the fire of the DeColt-Elite war, as if there hadn't been enough already. It also plays into the ongoing Jack-Marie storyline as he sacrifices himself for her once again. Overall Show B- Tv Rating 0.54 The strong main event and final segments cap off another excellent show, although the main event could have been a technically better match than it was. Still, it keeps the heat building on the main storylines and rounds out a series of strong tv shows this month. Unfortuneatly this hasn't translated to the ratings, which still held steady. As we are going into another bargaining session with the network, I was hoping for an increase to improve our position.

April was a decent month overall, as our ratings remained steady and the quality of the shows improved. Now , if we could get that same level of improvement in the monthly PPV's I'd feel more secure in my job. Despite the small gains here and there, we haven't really done anything that Alex couldn't probably have done himself, as I am sure he has pointed out to his father. The DeColt-Elite war is as popular as ever judging by the crowd reaction during the various non wrestling segments, but I haven't found the right in ring combination to really take this storyline over the top. Hopefully this next show will resolve that issue. On a more positive note, we cleared over 200K again, which makes the owner happy and keeps us well ahead of the pace needed to hit the financial target Mr DeColt gave me. As that was most critical to him, that is what is probably giving me some breathing room despite Alex's not so subtle attempts to get his position restored. Despite all the politics on the home front, I still took the time to check out the rest of the wrestling world to see if there were an external events that could either be of benefit or hindrance to me. The wrestling news for April 2008 was... News:

5SSW have continued their period of successful shows and steady growth, and have now been recognized as a Cult- level promotion.
The wrestling world was shocked this month when PGHW Sadaharu Jimbo stepped down from his position and handed over the reigns of the promotion to former top star Eisaku Hoshino. Hoshino's first act as the new owner was to remove his hated rival Nobuatsu Tatsuko as head booker and take over the duties himself as he searches for a person more to his liking. Tatsuko remains with the promotion as an active wrestler as he is still under contract.
One leaves, another one enters as Sadaharu Jimbo retires from wrestling, his nephew Seiji Jimbo enters the professional ranks and takes a spot with Hinote Dojo.
Sporting a flashy wrestling style and loads of charisma, the oddly named California Love Machine makes his debut on the North American wrestling scene.
A protege of our own Farrah Hesketh, Ashley Grover looks to take women's wrestling by storm. Well skilled in the basics, she needs work but has the potential for a successful career.
Bairei Yasujiro landed badly during one of his daredevil moves and ruptured his spleen, putting him out of action for 2 1/2 months.
Henry Bennett has taken some time off to let his back heal up after a grueling set of tours in GCG. It was stated he will be out of action for two months.
Some well known names in wrestling hung up the boots this month as Robert Oxford, Whistler and Danger Kumasaka all retired from active competition this month. Oxford was a well known tag team technician, winning tag titles in four promotions with various partners while Whistler had several title runs in the defunct SCCW and in NYCW. Kumasaka was instrumental in training up PGHW talent and had a couple of midcard title runs in the past.
The Shooter regains the ROF Talisman title from Jonni Lowlife.
Forces of America (Jim Force & Captain USA) capture the USPW World Tag titles for the second time as they defeat the Towers of Power (Mick Muscles & Danny Rushmore).
Hell Monkey defeats Emerald Angel to win the WLW Universal title for the first time.
Top Ten Promotion Rankings: 1. SWF- Global 2. TCW - National 3. PGHW - National 4. BHOTWG - National 5. INSPIRE - Cult 6. WLW- Cult 7. GCG - Cult 8. 5SSW - Cult 9. USPW -Cult 10. NOTBOW - Cult on the bubble CGC -Cult. With 5SSW's rise up the ranks, Japan holds 6 of the top 10 rankings in the world. They bump USPW, NOTBPW and CGC down a notch. WLW and GCG switch places as Hell Monkey is initially a more popular champion than Kuroki. Everything else remains the same at the top.

Punches, forearm shots, slams and clotheslines were traded back and forth as both men proved to be the equal of the other. Both men are fighting on the outside, practically oblivious of everyone else and the referee tries to get the wrestlers back into the ring. Both men just shove the referee away, and he then calls for the bell, dq'ng both men. Having been bitten too often by miscommunication issues derailing my potential feuds, I felt it was better to see these two against each other before a main event PPV to ensure it didn't happen again. As the bout was non-title and the ending was not decisive, it serves to whet the audiences, and hopefully the fans at home to see their next match together at the PPV. Overall Show B TV Rating 0.54 The main event and the promos leading up to it made this show a very strong one,and helped the build towards the PPV in two weeks. Now that I don't have to worry about unexpected chemistry issues ruining the planned main event, I can work to make this a breakthru PPV. The ratings stayed the same, and so did our tv deal, as we didn't have enough leverage to get a better one yet, and now isn't the time to take a gamble to get another one somewhere else. Hopefully the quality of this show will help bump our ratings up next week and beyond.
