Better get my predictions in............. Grunt vs. Fumihiro Ota Grunt's on his way out (plus the fact that he's also useless), so he's doing the job Giant Redwood vs. Dusty Streets Redwood winning the 3-way at the last pay per view, would have been good as it would have been fun to see him have a date with Kelsey, not that the Romeo date wasn't fun too. There's absolutely no incentive for the over-sized lump winning here, 99 % of the time there's no incentive for Redwood winning a match. Savage Fury vs. Sam Strong and Liberty Mid-card tag team versus two main eventers thrown together. Everyone knows the two main eventers thrown together are winning this one The Demons of Rage vs. Chris Rockwell & Freddie Datsun for the HGC World Tag Team titles You seem to be giving hints that Rockwell & Datsun will get a good push eventually but the Demon's stay on top for now and what exactly have Rockwell & Datsun done to earn a title shot anyway ? Dread vs. ??? Random jobber victim for Dread, would be great if you did this as a proper squash match, like brought in a jobber extraodinaire like Ben Williams and not even give him a proper entrance. Teddy Flame vs. Rip Chord Not a hard one to call, Chord isn't going to job to a tag teamer
HGC Hollyweird TV Tuesday, Week 3, February 1997 Held at the Missouri State Armory in the Mid West Attendance: 5000 (Sold out!)
Match #1: Grunt vs. Fumihiro Ota vs. We start this episode of HGC Hollyweird TV in the ring, where Fumihiro Ota is taking on Grunt. Ota was off of his game, but, strangely, he has great chemistry with Grunt. Unfortunately, the chemistry couldn't make up for Grunt's lack of talent and Ota's lack of overness, and, well, the fact that it was a heel-heel match. Anyhow, Ota used his speed and striking skills to keep Grunt off guard, and picked up the win fairly easily, picking up the pinfall with a Ninja Strike. Fumihiro Ota defeated Grunt in 5:45 by pinfall with a Ninja Strike. Rating: E+
Backstage... Thanks to the camera angle and the darkness in the room, the audience cannot see who their conversation partner. “So, what do you think of our... offer?” Demon Spite asks. “It... is unacceptable.” Demon Spite looks ready to respond, but Anger waves him off. “We'll handle things on our own,” he says. Demon Anger and Demon Spite are seen discussing something with a mysterious person that can't be seen by the camera. Rating: C Elsewhere... J.K. Stallings Jr. is sitting at a desk, looking very official looking. “Ladies and gentlemen, I have a special announcement to make. As many of you know, Rip Chord has been very unsatisfied with my decision to name Liberty as the number contender. And, lately, with his victories and arguments, he has made a strong case to be the number one contender. However, Liberty was promised a title shot and I will not go back on that.” “Next week, however, I will give Rip Chord the chance to get into the main event at the War to Settle the Score. Rip Chord, and a partner of his choice, will take on Liberty and a partner of his choice. If Liberty and his partner win, then the main event at the War to Settle the Score will be Sam Strong vs. Liberty. If Rip Chord and his partner win, then the main event will be Sam Strong vs. Liberty vs. Rip Chord.” J.K. Of course, the match was kept slow, to account for Redwood's lack of athleticism and for the fact that Streets is quite a bit past his prime. Streets seemed to have things under control, when Redwood resorted to a low blow to save himself. The referee saw the attack and disqualified Redwood. Dusty Streets defeated Giant Redwood in 4:57 by disqualification. Rating: D
Following his victory, Dusty Streets grabbed a microphone. Now, three of these scoundrels have been given me a hard time lately. They call themselves the Untouchables. Their ring leader, Bob Oxford, has been sending his goons, Steadyfast and Bryant out to attack me just about every week. Well, now, I'm sick of it. And I want Oxford, and I want him in the ring, next week.” Dusty Streets challenges Robert Oxford. Rating: C Backstage.. Strong places his hand out, and Liberty shakes it. “Hey brother, I heard what Stalling said earlier. Now brother, if you need a tag team partner next week, just let me know. As far as I'm concerned, old Rip has had his chance.” Liberty nods his head. “Thanks Sam, I appreciate it, dude. But this week, man, we've got two big bad Islanders that we have to handle. Now, I've rode a lot of waves, dude, and let me tell you, Islanders are no strangers to waves, man. These dudes are likely to be a handful, man.” Strong places his hand on Liberty's shoulder. “I understand, brother. I think, ya' kind of lost me with the waves analogy. The ring announcer then calls out Liberty, to a large positive response from the crowd. Then, Sam Strong is called out, to an unbelievable response from the crowd. The match then started, and, as expected, was a short, typical tag team affair. The heels controlled Liberty, cutting off the ring, taking advantage of 5 counts, and using general heel tag tactics. This, eventually, lead to the hot tag which brought Sam Strong into the ring. Strong cleared house, but was eventually double teamed by Java and Tribal Warrior. Liberty recovered and clotheslined Tribal Warrior out of the ring, which freed up Strong to hit the Strong Arm Tactic on Java. Hence, this match. Rockwell and Datsun have a ton of potential, and if we play our cards correctly, will easily match the feats of the Demons of Rage in the future. But, this is the present, and right now, the two rookie workers were simply no match for the crafty veterans. The tag champs dominated this match, using their size and power to tear apart their youthful challengers. After 5 minutes of a trouncing, the Demons picked up the win with the Demon Demon Down. The Demons Of Rage defeated Rockwell & Datsun in 5:31 when Demon Spite defeated Freddie Datsun by pinfall with a Double Demon Down. The reaction to Duane's appearance is solid, despite this not being Canada. Duane maintains an aloof manner, ignoring the fans and literally holding his chin up in the air, as he approaches the ring. “Your cheers are not necessary. I'm not here for your pleasure. I do not need the approval of a bunch of mid-west hicks.” The crowd boos, realizing that Stone is a bad guy. “I'm here for one reason, and one reason only. The pay check. And suddenly, our next match was underway. The match went back and forth, and it was obvious, early on, that Duane and Lucha have pretty good chemistry. Stone wasn't prepared for someone of Lucha's caliber, and spent much of the match on the defensive. He turned things around, when he countered a spinning head scissors attempt a sitdown flapjack-like maneuver. Sensing opportunity, he quickly locked in the Alabaster Agony. Mr. Lucha held out for nearly a minute, before submitting to Duane's signature move. Duane Stone defeated Mr Lucha in 9:49 by submission with an Alabaster Agony. Rating: B-
And next, Rip Chord made his way down the ring for the main event. We weren't really sure what to do for a main event this week, as we're hesitant to give away many of our big matches on free television. The company has to make money and all, ya' know? Anyhow, before the match began, Rip Chord grabbed a microphone. “Now personally, I think it's pile of steaming crap that Liberty is guaranteed to be in the main event at the War to Settle the Score. Surfer-boy hasn't done a thing to deserve the shot against Strong. But it doesn't matter, because I'm going to be there as well. And I will win the HGC World title.” And immediately, Rip is met with the old “Al-Key” chant. “Keep chanting, plebeians. Won't change a thing. Now, I'm going to beat Teddy Flame tonight, and next week, I'll find a partner and beat Liberty.” Thud says the microphone, as it hits the mat. Rip Chord says that he will be in the title match at the War to Settle the Score. Rating: A
Match #7: Rip Chord vs. Teddy Flame vs. Teddy was on fire, probably bolstered by the fact that the Demons of Rage accepted the Blazin' Flames challenge for a title match and really took it to Rip Chord. The pace that Teddy set was breakneck, and, despite Rip's age, it was maintained for the first 10 minutes of the match. Yes, I've said it before, and I'll hopefully say it many more times... Rip is the man. While Teddy looked good, he wasn't quite good enough. And as things progressed, Rip took control of the match. The end came when Teddy tried a flying dropkick, which Rip sidestepped. Rip collapsed on the ropes, selling the damage that he suffered. Teddy struggled to his feet and, upon seeing Rip still a bit weakened, tried to clothesline the veteran. Rip was playing a bit of possum however, and bent Teddy in half with a kick to the midsection. Leaning over, Teddy was in no position to block the Rip Chord DDT. Rip Chord defeated Teddy Flame in 13:35 by pinfall with a Rip Chord DDT. Rating: B
Rip Chord stood in the center of the ring, smiling, as the sweat dripped down his face. As the referee helped Teddy out of the ring, Rip grabbed a microphone. But, before he could start to talk, the crowd again started with the “Al-Key” chant. Rip smirked, basking in his well-earned hatred. Eventually, Rip Chord spoke. “Did that chant stop me from beating Teddy Flame?” The crowd's response: “Al-Key.” “No, it didn't. Do you think it'll stop me from beating Liberty and his partner next week?” The crowd's response: “Al-Key.” “No, it won't. And will it stop me from winning the HGC World title?” The crowd's response: “Al-Key.” And “thud”, the microphone once again said.
Is Crash having some schizophrenia problems and thinking he is the luchador Electrico?:p
This is the problem with my note taking system... and the problem with jobbing poor Eléctrico so much. Someone had earlier mentioned using Crash and Troy and I was giving this a test run, so wrote my preliminary notes and results to reflect this. Then, when I booking the card, I saw Crash's stats and decided to use Eléctrico :o
Romeo, Oh Romeo Another show, another incident. This time, a failed steroid test. The culprit: Romeo Heartthrob. Now, Romeo is a big star for us. His matches are solid, his gimmick is loved (well, hated...), his angles are fantastic, and he's currently the holder of the HGC International Title. Naturally, I was disappointed when Stallings told me that Romeo failed a random drug test. Disappointed, but not surprised. This was not exactly top secret information. I called Romeo the day after the show. “Hello”, he said. “Hey Romeo, it's Kelsey.” “Oh. Hey Kelsey.” An awkward pause. “Do you know what I'm calling about?” “Yeah.” Another awkward pause. “So, what are we going to do about this?” “I'm not sure. I'll do my best, but it's tough. I'm not young, anymore. It's not easy for me to keep the chiseled, sexy look, you know?” “Romeo, you and I both know that that excuse doesn't really hold any water. Be honest with me, how long have you been steroids?” “A while. Most of my career.” This was tough. It might be have been easier if I had him come into the office, but it didn't seem reasonable to fly him out to chew him out. “Listen, I really need you to try to clean up. We've been doing a lot of work together and, really, I think working with you has been pretty great.” “Thanks.” “But if this were to leak to the press, it wouldn't just make you look bad. It'd make the HGC look bad and, well, it'd make me look bad. And really, I don't want to look bad. You understand?” “Yeah, I'll do my best to clean up. I won't B.S you though, it'll be hard. But I'll do what I can.” “Thanks Romeo. I appreciate it.” And, for some reason, I believe him. Regardless, if he turns up another dirty UA, I think he will have to be fined and/or suspended.
Predictions and comments always welcome. By the way... I've simmed through the end of this month (a bit ago, actually). And all I have to say is... blah! Not about the cards, but about an error that occured.

This is actually a hard card. I won't be surprised if I get few right. Robert Oxford vs. Dusty Streets Dusty made the challenge. Plus, I dig the Streets kids, even if I'm more a Sid man. The Demons of Rage & Fumihiro Ota vs. The Blazin' Flames & Dark EAGLE I like the Flames better. Ota will take the pin. Romeo Hearthrob vs. Cowboy Ricky Dale for the HGC International Title He may be in the doghouse over Roids, but he's your champion. Dread and Duane Stone vs. The Vessey Brothers Dread man. Dread. Rip Chord & ??? vs. Liberty & ??? I rarely if ever will bet against Alchy. But the ??? aspect is what puts me over the top.

Robert Oxford vs. Dusty Streets Streets made the challenge, but Oxford will win via some form of cheating. The Demons of Rage & Fumihiro Ota vs. The Blazin' Flames & Dark EAGLE Flames & Eagle to win, as it will help give the Flames some momentum going into their tag title re-match Romeo Hearthrob vs. Cowboy Ricky Dale for the HGC International Title Despite testing positive for the Roids, I see Romeo keeping hold of the title, as this feud has more legs if the face is chasing the heel Dread and Duane Stone vs. The Vessey Brothers Sorry Vessey Brothers you're a good team, but Dread & Duane Stone > Vessey Brothers. Rip Chord & ??? vs. Liberty & ??? I really don't want to back against Rip Chord, but I see Liberty's partner being Sam Strong and I'm really not sure who would team up with Chord. Giant Redwood doesn't seem to be doing anything.
