With the unexpected and pleasant surprise of actually making a profit our first month out, and with the success of our first show, I moved quickly to see if I could make a big splash before our second show to keep our momentum going and keep interest high. My biggest concern was a dropoff after the initial buzz and curiosity the public had about our promotion had been satisfied. Since all the other Mexican promotions had weekly shows, I contacted some of the smaller, more wrestling friendly networks, and also reached out to some names that I had contacted for the initial roster, but whose contract needs seemed too high when I was expecting to be losing money out of the gate.

However, reality soon came crashing back down around me. It didn’t matter that we had a profitable, successful opening, we were still a small , unproven promotion with a radical (for the area) product and I was quickly met with rejections from the network and from some of the names I contacted like Soul Taker and Gino Montero. Even when a bigger name was willing to make a deal, I came across another roadblock, the owner himself. Championa Jr, despite actually making money immediately, still had a very protective attitude of his investment, and like Stomper, quickly clamped a limit on how much I could pay salary wise.

I had actually gotten Magnifico to agree to come work for us, and his name value alone would have been a big boost, along with his wrestling ability, but when it came time to get to the dollars and cents, he wanted a fair market value. Which I had no problem with, but Championa did. The bosses ceiling was below what Magnifico was willing to accept, so no deal, and no new big name for this month. ( I have a sneaking suspicion that Championa didn’t want anyone on the roster who was a bigger star than he was. Even though Slayyer was a current world champion, Championa can claim a more successful singles career so far. I hope I am wrong, but we will see. I already had the ego of an owner sabotage me once, I wasn’t about to go through it again. )

So , with no new tv contract and no new big name stars, I just had to hope that the storyline seeds and initial buzz continued as I set up the booking for our second event MHW Anillo de Sangre ( Ring of Blood). The website and promotional flyers advertised the following matches

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DanielCano.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JavierCano.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ElBestiaPurpura.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ElToroDeOro.jpg

The Shadow Warriors ( Daniel & Javier Cano ) vs. Purple & Gold in a 2 out of 3 falls lucha match. The winner would be the new MHW Tag Team Champions.

Both teams had won the intial tourney round matches in dominant fashion, and now would compete head to head to see who would be the first ever tag champions of MHW.

Slayyer & Hugo Garrido vs. Masked Patriot & Darkness Warrior in a Hardcore Lucha match ( 2 out of 3 falls , no dq or countouts)

After being viciously assaulted during their one on one match by David Mack and his bodyguard the Darkness Warrior, Slayyer and Garrido want revenge. But since Championa already has prior claim on David Mack, they get Mack’s ally Masked Patriot in his place. Can the Mexican duo get payback or will the American team add insult to injury with a win?

Their feud from SOTBPW has spilled over into MHW and Estupendo has requested a rematch to get revenge for his loss last month. And he has demanded that it be inside a cage with no DQ so there will be no doubt who the winner is.

Championa wasn’t satisfied with his DQ victory last month. He wants to defeat David Mack cleanly and decisively. But Mack has stated that Championa has to put his status as the champion on the line. Championa has agreed and also stated that there will be no DQ or countout. The winner will be the first one to pin or make his opponent submit two times.

<em>The ending here was more about star power than storyline. While it might keep the americans strong with a win, the fact is that there is a huge gulf of popularity between these two teams right now and it serves no purpose to have one of our biggest stars in Slayyer lose to a midcarder right now. The American side has other ways to further the storyline and get heat back. Slayyer looked very good during the match, and Masked Patriot made a lot of strides in his development.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Match Rating E</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

An even battle with both sides getting 1 fall each. Heading into the deciding fall, Daniel had the advantage over Toro de Oro, while the other two men were on the floor outside following a series of planchas. Cano was setting up his finisher when Magdalena jumped on the ring and distracted Cano. This allowed Toro de Oro to deliver his gore finisher and cover the elder Cano brother for the win and the titles.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>While Daniel wasn’t happy with losing , I let him know that there was more mileage out of the gate with them chasing the titles, and that they would have every opportunity for success provided he and his brother continued to perform well. </em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Match Rating D+</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Despite using every dirty trick he knows, Verdugo was just not at the same calibur as Mexican Beast tonight, who delivers a decisive blow in their long feud with a convincing victory. After the match was over, Verdugo Estupendo was obviously extremely frustrated and angry with himself that he wasn’t able to beat his rival.</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Finally, a positive result, as the two big men rescue what had been a mediocre night so far. If the main event can deliver, then we should still have a good show.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">David Mack</span></strong> comes out to the ring, complete with a bottled water and wearing a ring coat with the pattern of an American flag on it. He sneers at the crowd, while taking a drink from the water and says in english <strong><em><span style="color:#8B0000;">“ You have no idea how much it disgusts me just having to come to your dirty, filthy third rate country! They have better Mexican food in North Dakota!! And don’t even get me started about your diseased filled drinking water!! But I came here for one reason. And that reason is the pleasure and satisfaction I will get when I defeat and humiliate your national hero, Championa Jr and take that Global championship he was going to give to himself! It’s just like you people to take the easy way out instead of earning it like the proud American people do. I will show everyone in this god forsaken backwater part of the world that the Americans are better wrestlers, better champions, and more hardcore than any Mexican could ever dream of!!!”</span></em></strong> A loud chorus of boos descends on David Mack during this entire speech as the announcer translates it to Spanish for the audience.</p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Championa Jr </span></strong>then comes out, carrying the MHW Global title he was going to award to himself. He says in Spanish <strong><em><span style="color:#4169E1;">“ David Mack , you were right about one thing. It would have been wrong just to give myself this belt, even though I have been a two time World Champion. So it is my pleasure to demonstrate my right to hold this belt by beating the hell out of you inside that ring and showing you and your arrogant countrymen the heart and pride of a true son of Mexico!! Vive la raza!!! Vive Mexico!! David Mack, you come to our country, to my home and insult my heritage , my people and my nation!!! I will show you no mercy, and I will make you pay for every insult with your own blood!! “</span></em></strong> </p><p>

With that Championa Jr charges into the ring and tackles David Mack as the bell rings to start the match.</p><p>

<em>Another decent response as the crowd cheers the impassioned speech of Championa Jr. The main figures are now established and the sides are drawn.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Championa Jr def David Mack 2 falls to 1 at 23:18 Championa Jr wins the MHW Global Championship.</strong></p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Match Rating C</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Both men tore into each other at the start as each fought for national pride and the championship belt. Mack scored an early fall when he removed the top turnbuckle on one side of the ring and managed to dodge out of the way when Championa Jr charged him and hit his head on the exposed turnbuckle, monetarily dazing himself. The falls were soon evened up as Mack got overconfident and arrogantly started to taunt the audience while delivering punishing moves to his opponent. Mack had picked Championa Jr up for a slam, but stopped to jaw at the fans at ringside. Championa took advantage to rollout of the hold and quickly cradle the surprised David Mack for the pinfall to even the match. Both men became cautious and it was a very tactical match from then on with a lot of counters and reverses as each man tried to create an advantage to get the deciding pin. At around the twenty minute mark, Masked Patriot came to the ringside area. Mack grabbed Championa, and held him at the ring ropes while Patriot climbed on the apron to deliver a hard punch. But Championa slipped the hold and the punch hit David Mack instead!! Championa delivered a dropkick to Patriot to send him crashing to the floor. Championa then turns around, scampers up to the top rope, and comes off with a Flying Cross Body on David Mack who was picking himself up. Championa covers Mack, gets the 3 count and wins the title!</p><p> </p><p>

<em>An excellent main event that should help keep our momentum going, and get the fans excited and cheering as their hero wins. Of course that cheering is short lived as…..</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="color:#0000FF;">Championa Jr</span></strong> proudly holds the belt over his head and celebrates his victory for the Mexican people. But <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;">David Mack</span></strong> recovers and attacks Championa from behind. <strong><span style="color:#FF0000;"> Masked Patriot</span></strong> also comes into the ring and both men proceed to deliver a nasty beat down to the new champion. Mack slams the belt into the head of Championa and busts him open. Championa is saved from futher damage as <strong>Slayyer</strong> and <strong>Hugo Garrido</strong> charge the ring. Mack and Patriot quickly exit, again satisfied they had the last blow. It looks like this war is far from over.</p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Rating E</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The crowd gave a very harsh response as they were not happy at all to see their champion get humiliated and beaten down in his moment of triumph. I suppose I could have left it at Championa’s win, but we needed to get heat back so there was a basis to continue the feud even though he had beaten me twice already.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">OVERALL SHOW D+</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>The last couple of matches really made the show as there were several weak spots elsewhere. Still, given we were still finding our way with our product , our roster and our company, I was more than satisfied with the results. We had gotten champions crowned, set up some feuds, gotten everyone on the roster a chance to work, and we had only lost 15% of the crowd from last month. I expected a drop off as those who were just mildly curious weren’t expected to come back, and it wasn’t nearly as large as I feared. If we could continue to produce solid shows, those fans would come back quickly, followed by others.</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<p>Once again we had managed to be profitable by over $5K despite the drop in attendance. With the confidence that we weren’t in serious danger of losing money, I was determined to be more aggressive in getting some more talent on our roster this month. We could afford the extra wages, and it would help to keep us from running the same matches over and over. Things weren’t completely rosy however as the fact we were still fourth of four promotions was brought home when the regional reports were finalized. Since we didn’t have a tv show, we had no exposure in either the southern or eastern parts of Mexico, which meant that we lost ground in both those markets to OLLIE and MPWF last month, even though our montly event was on par with both of their main shows in February. If we wanted to be more than just the bottom rung in Mexican wrestling, we needed to reach that next level asap so we could try to compete on even terms. But that was something to deal with in the future. While I made a few calls about possible talent acquisitions I browsed through the latest news happenings for the last month, with special emphasis over the doings of both our competitors in Mexico and also what my nemesis Alex DeColt was doing in CGC.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Eye On Mexico</span></strong> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>SOTBPW :</strong> Their major show this month was a smash hit, at the level I used to get in CGC. The main event was Pablo Rodriguez defending his title against young superstar Gino Montero, but the match of the night was Axxis Jr def Pirata Malvado in a show stealing match that had the entire wrestling community talking (SOTBPW Una Noche Salvaje Show rating : B Main Event : B Match of the night: A )</p><p>

They also extended the contracts of El Fuerza, Junior Youth, Lobo Blanco, Jennifer Heat and Magik.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>MPWF: </strong> The main show this month was MPWF Danza Del Guerrero Del Fantasma, main evented by the tag team match of Magnifico & Cique Jr defeating Team Crime (Apprentica Jr & Spanish Superfly ). Match of the night was a traditional lucha 6 man tag where world champion Genio Verde, Huracan Sandoval and Extraordinario Jr def Hezxx, Atlantis Jr and Luchador Original. Over all it looked to be slightly better than our show, but not by much.</p><p>

( Show Rating : C- Main Event : C- Match of the night: C )</p><p>

Contract wise they extended Julio Dominguez, Tigre Salvaje Jr, Apprentica Jr, Sebastian Cabrera, Magnifico and Angel de Mexico.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>OLLIE:</strong> Their major show was OLLIE Los Deuces Son Salvajes. It featured our own Slayyer defending his World title against Phoenix I successfully in what was a very pedestrian match by accounts. The match of the night, and this wasn’t saying much, was the tag team of Swarm1 & III defeating the team of La Generacion Sanguine (Tricolor Jr & Luis Montero Jr ). They only drew 2000 people, well below the other 2 promotions. </p><p>

( Show Rating : D Main Event : D Match of the Night : D+ )</p><p>

They also extended the contract of Asesino De la Espada, Velocidad, Amo del Gato, Arthur Dexter Bradley, Benito Garcia and Dragon Americano.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>CGC Watch:</strong> After seeing the massive changes over the past few months, and the shocking surprise of seeing Jack DeColt leave CGC last month I decided to pay more attention to what Alex was doing with the company I spent 18 months of my life building up.</p><p>

The weekly tv show was still bringing in 5000 people a week as they did tapings across Canada. They were getting ratings between 0.58 and 0.62 , a small drop off from what I had been getting at the end of my tenure, but the american ratings on National Pride TV had jumped quite a bit, probably due to the influx of SWF talent adding people that the american fans knew and drawing interest. They had started around 0.33 and closed out at 0.51, which was a significant increase from 8 months ago. At least in one market, Alex’s changes were showing positve dividends.</p><p>

The PPV for the month was CGC Luck of the Draw , which was held in Missouri, and brought in 5000 people. It was actually quite a good show, although it was anchored by the influx of american talent. The main event was Runaway Train defending his title against my old partner Steve Flash and , as usual with any match Flash is in, was also the match of the night and another Flash classic. Other notable matches were Alex defeating Frederique Antonio Garcia, and the pairing of Remo and recent acquisition Steve Frehley defeating the Ninja Pimps. Both of those matches were also very good. A contact at the network gave me the ppv buy results, and it came in at 0.56 which was on a par with what we were doing during my time there.</p><p>

( Show Rating : B+ Main Event and Match of the night: A Other mentioned matches: B )</p><p> </p><p>

Alex continued his trend towards entertainers over skill as he brings in USPW notable T-Rex and says goodbye to the gifted Shooter Sean Deeley, who obviously seeing his opportunities getting limited, wisely chose to go to Japan.</p><p>

Some talent did get extended as Lee Rivera, Fate, Joey Poison, Farrah Hesketh, Corporal Doom, Madman Boone, and my former workers Steve Flash and Grandmaster Phunk all signed new contracts. Ricky also inked a new contract, becoming the first brother to actually stay with CGC in the past year. Ricky I am not surprised about, he is bright enough to know he is protected there and still needs time to improve. I also don’t have any grudges with Flash and Phunk re-signing as they are professionals with families to feed, and have nothing to do with my issues with Alex. There isn’t any conflict either as both had left NYCW the year before when Stomper wasn’t issuing big contracts anymore.</p><p> </p><p>

I do have to give Alex credit for one thing, he knows how to maintain a promotion, even if he could be setting himself up for a fall by catering to the casual fans with his emphasis on big name American wrestlers recently. It hasn’t come back to bite him yet as he has maintained the companies popularity in Canada, while building a firm popularity base in America. He took the ground I broke there and has made it blossom so far. But he has only to look at SWF’s current situation to see the road that path could lead.</p><p>

But it wasn’t all rosy for Alex last month as there was other news in Canada that rocked the wrestling world.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>News:</strong></p></div><p></p><p>

OOC: I have added a couple new sections to my usual monthly update. One is a more detailed look at the Mexican promotions to help give the readers ( and me) a better idea of who the stars in mexican wrestling are, and the other is a more in depth report on CGC, since my avatar's personal grudge and obsession with Alex Decolt is part of the continuing backstory. I hope everyone enjoys these new additions as I 'evolve' my diary writing. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Hey D-Mack can i ask you a quick question on MHW? See i personally like doing MHW as well but i was wondering for the matches what match type are you using? Have you created Hardcore Lucha matches with a Hardcore style setting or are they normal setting but with weapons and such included? </p><p> </p><p>

Myself I normally (in TEW 07 that is) use Hardcore Lucha which is 2/3 falls with a hardcore setting but that seems to create a low grade as most luchadores don't have the hardcore skills required</p>

What I did was add matches that used the 2 out of 3 falls lucha rules, but removed the disqualification and countout endings. For the cage ones it is still rated on brawling, and for the hardcore one it is rated on hardcore. I picked people with at least D+ hardcore skill for my initial roster, and the people I have used in those matches also have good overness relative to a small promotion, so that is helping me now. I also use the regular lucha matches as not every match will be a hardcore one. I will probably create more specialized hardcore matches like first blood, steel chain, etc, with the 2 out of 3 falls lucha rules as those aren't in the default matches.

maybe it will be a first to make his opponent bleed twice!! Granted that I dont know much about lucha libre apart from the traditions of the mask, the 2 out of 3 falls and the not needing to tag when a partner goes out of the ring. So there may be some creative license as I 'define' exactly what hardcore lucha is. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>With our surprising profitability the first two months, I had begun looking for talent to add to the roster so we could keep things fresh. While I had envisioned adding some well known in ring daredevils, a couple of people I contacted, namely Ultimate Phoenix and Jacob Jett, decided their prospects were better elsewhere. </p><p>

But I was able to add a couple of people with some name value in Mexico and they would be debuting soon.</p><p> </p><p>

Our next event was going to be called <strong>MHW Duro Como Clavos</strong> ( Hard as Nails ) and , while keeping the same storylines going, was going to mix the matchups somewhat so it wasn’t a repeat of the first two weeks.</p><p>

MHW Duro Como Clavos

Wed Week 4 March 2010

Held at the Palacio de Lucha, Ciudad, Mexico Att: 790

Pre Show:

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/SabraMan-1.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/PrimalRage.jpg

Sabra Man Jr def Primal Rage in 2 straight falls in 5:41

Match Rating E

One of the new acquisitions to the roster, Israeli born second generation wrestler Sabra Man Jr. He is still young and untested, but shows a lot of potential. He gets his feet wet in MHW against the rugged veteran Primal Rage. But he must have had some debut jitters because this wasn’t as good as performances I viewed while scouting him.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JesusChavez_alt.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Pyromaniac.jpg

Jesus Chavez def Pyromaniac in 5:48 by two straight falls.

Match Rating E-

Well, not the hottest warmup show ever as this match also fails to impress. Chavez gets the win as I try and see if he can develop into more than just a generic thug type.

Main Show:

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/VerdugoEstupendo_alt.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Nomad_alt1.jpg

Verdugo Estupendo def Nomad in 4:49 by two straight falls.

Match Rating E+

The main show starts off a little better as Nomad does a nice job bumping for Verdugo Estupendo. Estupendo re-establishes himself as a dominating force and gets back some momentum following his recent losses to his rival.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JavierCano.jpg w/ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Carla.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ElBestiaPurpura.jpg w/ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Magdalena.jpg

El Bestia Purpura def Javier Cano in 5:33 by two falls to one.

Match Rating E

First round goes to Purple & Gold after Purpura steals the match, thanks to some help from his manager Magdalena, who distracts Cano, allowing Purpura to roll him up for the deciding fall.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DanielCano.jpg w/ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Carla.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ElToroDeOro.jpg w/ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Magdalena.jpg

Daniel Cano def El Tor De Oro in 6:28 by two straight falls.

Match Rating E

Carla kept Magdalena neutralized this time, and skill won out over brute power as the far more experienced Daniel Cano was able to overcome his younger and stronger foe. The singles matches end up even between the teams, but the rivalry is far from over.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Slayyer.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MaskedPatriot.jpg

Slayyer def Masked Patriot in 10:06 by two straight falls.

Match Rating D-

Despite showing a lot of energy and effort, the Masked Patriot is unable to match up against his Mexican counterpart in skill or experience tonight and Slayyer scores another win over the flag masked American.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JackAvatar.jpg w/ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Buttercup.jpg

David Mack comes down to the ring and glares at Masked Patriot, who hangs his head in shame at losing, Mack yells at Masked Patriot to get to the back and he will deal with him later. Then Mack, accompanied by the beautiful blonde, Buttercup, grabs a microphone as says “ I should have expected that your ‘champion’ would be as big a thief as the rest of you backwater third world rejects! Championa is walking around and defending a belt he knows he doesn’t deserve! He knew he couldn’t defeat a superior American wrestler fairly so he cheated to steal the title that everyone here knows rightfully belongs to me! And since all the officials in this company are paid off by that low life swindler, they won’t grant me the rematch I deserve! So I will destroy each and every Mexican ‘lucha’ wrestler in this company till Championa has no choice but to face me again!!”

Rating E

The crowd is very vocal about wanting to see wrestling, and obviously I am not very popular with the fans. Still I need to have these occasional promos to set up interest in the matches the fans want, especially if we want to separate ourselves from the other promotions in Mexico.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/HugoGarrido.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JackAvatar.jpg

David Mack def Hugo Garrido in 13:04 by two straight falls.

Match Rating C-

David Mack shows a cold , intense demeanor this time, with none of the casual disdain for his opponent that seemed to cost him last month. He takes the fight straight to his opponent Hugo Garrido, who meets Mack with his own fierce intensity and a battle of power begins. Mack seems to lose the strength contest, but, quickly taking advantage of a shortcut and the hardcore rules the match is fought with, drops down and low blows Garrido, leaving him ripe for a quick fall and Mack pulls ahead in the 2 out of 3 falls contest. Garrido tries to even things up as the two men battle each other for the next several minutes. Garrido has Mack in the air and is ready to deliver a devastating slam when…..

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/TheCannonballKid-1.jpg

A man well known to the Mexican audience as the Cannonball Kid, comes running out from the back, reaches into the ring and trips up Garrido! David Mack , sensing his opportunity, quickly slips out of Garrido’s grasp and delivers a jaw shattering Future Shock! Mack covers Garrido for the second and deciding pin, winning the match! The Cannonball Kid then climbs in the ring , and amidst a deafening chorus of boos from the audience , shakes the hand of David Mack!

Here is the second of the two new roster additions, SOTBPW’s The Cannonball Kid, or better known to American audience, Sam Pratt, the Calamari Kid from the former SWF stable, the Underwater Union. He had been working in Mexico ever since his release and had built a decent name for himself in Mexico. Which made him a perfect addition to our company and our main storyline. The match itself was quite good, given that neither one of us had really worked together before live.

OOC: Although this game universe is different than my NYCW one, as this is tew2008 and that was tew2007, and events unfold differently, I still find the occasional opportunity to ‘cross over’ and kind of fill in some loose ends. This entire diary helps give a ‘background justification’ for the luchadors I used during the later years of the NYCW diary, and Sam Pratt was brought in during early 2012 to my NYCW , so this provides another tie in between them. This diary is a direct continuation of the CGC game world though, so all the events going on now link directly back to events in my CGC diary. Hope you enjoyed this brief insight to the writer’s creative process.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MexicanBeast.jpg

Mexican Beast comes out and says that he really doesn’t care about America vs. Mexico or which country is better. He just wants to prove that he is the toughest, meanest, most hardcore wrestler the lucha wrestling world has ever seen and he will get that opportunity tonight when he destroys the current title holder Championa Jr and wins the MHW Global Championship!

Rating E

As usual, the crowd shows its displeasure at any break in the in ring action. Mexican Beast is a popular wrestler, but the fans want to see him wrestle and not talk.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Championa-1.jpg w/ http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MercedesGimenez.jpg

Championa Jr responds by saying “ Mexican Beast, you are undoubtedly a tough son of a gun. There is no doubting your power or your desire to win! But my desire is as strong as yours, if not stronger! Despite the lies of that arrogant American David Mack, I have earned this global title and wear it proudly! I will continue to wear it and defend it with honor and dignity for my people, my nation and myself ! Vive la Raza!! Vive Mexico!! Mexican Beast, you may be hardcore, but I am and will remain , the champion!”

Rating D+

Championa Jr at least gets the respect of the crowd when he speaks as they refrained from their usual calls for action during his promo.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Championa-1.jpg vs http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/MexicanBeast.jpg

Championa Jr def Mexican Beast in 18:18 by two straight falls after interference from David Mack. Championa defends his MHW Global Championship.

Match Rating D

Mexican Beast throws the champion around early, as he has the clear power advantage. But Championa weathers the storm and eventually the bigger man runs out of steam and makes a miscalculation by trying to spear Championa in the ring corner and missing. Championa slips the move, and uses the opportunity to roll up Mexican Beast for the first fall. After the 30 sec rest period, both men settle down into a more tactical battle of positioning as each tries to build a lastng advantage to take the next fall. Mexican Beast slowly takes the lead in this contest as his greater power and strength begins to wear down the champion. Repeated high impact moves and blows rain down on Championa , who vainly tries to rally back, but is unable to get more than a momentary respite from the onslaught of Mexican Beast. Finally Mexican Beast delivers a devastating power bomb, planting Championa Jr on the mat. Beast is about to go for the pinfall to even things up when the Masked Patriot comes down to the ring. Mexican Beast goes over and delivers a big boot to knock the interloper to the mat, but he doesn’t see, David Mack slip in the other side with a steel chair! Mexican Beast turns around, and Mack swings the chair , crashing it over the top of Beast’s head and dropping him like a stone!! He then drags Championa Jr over to cover the out cold Mexican Beast and tells the referee to count the fall. The referee has no choice but to count as it is a no DQ lucha hardcore match, and 3 seconds later, the groggy Championa gets his hand raised in victory. The referee goes to grab the championship belt to give to the winner, but David Mack grabs it and shoves the referee out of the ring. Championa recovers his wits enough to see that his enemy has given him the victory, but as he turns to face his rival, David Mack blasts Championa with his own title belt, dropping him to the mat!! David Mack then stands over the fallen champion, holding the belt as the fans rain loud boos on him. He then contemptuously tosses it on Championa’s body and leaves the ring.

Not as good as the main event for the last two months, although it was a decent match. Still , it served it’s purpose of giving the fans something different for the main event, but still furthering the main storyline.

Overall Show D-

A drop off from the first two shows in terms of quality, although attendance held steady from the previous month. We didn’t gain any ground on the other promotions with this show, but we did get a couple new wrestlers introduced and some storyline advances. I just need to chalk this one up as a learning experience and try to do better with the next show.

The good news was that our attendance had actually risen a little, and we had continued to make close to a $5K profit for the month, despite the new roster additions. The bad news was that the show came off as strictly average and that we didn’t really improve our position in the area or against the other Mexican promotions, who once again solidified their hold on the areas outside our current Northern area. But the basic fact was we weren’t able to compete with them outside this area yet as it wasn’t worth the losses to do a monthly show out there and we weren’t quite large enough to get a tv deal to increase our exposure. So we needed to concentrate on our home area till we could make the move to a more regional approach..

Once again, as I always do after a monthly review, I turned my attention to major happenings elsewhere, first in my current area, and then in my old stomping grounds.

Eye on Mexico

SOTBPW: SOTBPW held their major show this month in the SW region of the USA in order to expand their market and tap the potential revenue stream of the large Mexican population in that area. They did fairly well, drawing 5000 people to an above average show, although it would have probably played better here. The main event and the match of the night was Blood Raven defeating Pablo Rodrigues to win the SOTBPW Campeon de Mundo title.

( Show Rating : C+ Main Event and MOTN rating : B- )

Roster wise, no major moves although they did extend the contracts of Cannonball Kid, Lucia, Mexican Beast, Tijuana Vampire and Fast Navarro. Their weekly show SOTBPW Lucha Libre was drawing solid ratings in the 0.65- 0.72 range.

MPWF: Their big show this month, MPWF Explosion Grande , was held in Northern Mexico and drew a crowd of 5000. While not on the same level as the SOTBPW show, it was better than some of their recent offerings and much better than us this month. The two title matches held top billing and delivered the best as Angel de Mexico beat Huracan Sandoval Jr to retain his Campeon de Lucha belt and Genio Verde defended his world title successfully against the dangerous Magnifico.

( Show Rating : C Main Event : C+ )

In roster news, Extraordinaro Jr took a written deal overseas with WLW and left the promotion, but they scored a big coup in bringing in the massively talented El Leon, who has already held their rival OLLIE’s world title twice and is just 27. He could be the impetus they need to surge ahead and catch up to the dominant SOTBPW promotion. They also extended the contracts of El Sucio and La Criatura De La Navidad.

MPWF’s tv show was drawing steady at 0.06 on Los Deportes Hoy.

OLLIE: OLLIE’s main show Dia De Todo el Guerrero was held in SW Mexico and sold out a 2000 seat auditorium. It wasn’t one of their better efforts as it was probably slightly below our offering this month. The main event and Match of the night was Dos Phoenix triumphing over the team of Swarm I and Swarm III but our top matches were a lot better imo.

( Show rating : D- Main Event : D- )

Contractwise, no new additions and they extended Slayyer, Laberinto Jr, El Hijo del Zonk, Tricolor Jr , El Estrella and Secreto.

Their weekly show , OLLIE Relampago, was a distant third as they were only drawing 0.01-0.03 on Los Deportes Hoy, and had been at the bottom end of that range in March.

The CGC Watch :

It was time once again for the crown jewel of the Decolt wrestling calendar, the two day DeColt Wrestlefestival. Day 1 was held in the Prairies region before a sold out 5000 seat arena and featured the main event of Steve Frehley, Ryan Powell and Nate Johnson def Joey Poison, Destiny and Shane Nelson. An odd choice as the preceding match would have been much better showcased in the main event and took match of the night honors as Runaway Train once again defeated Steve Flash to retain the CGC World title.

The event did draw a strong 0.73 buyrate on PPV, which is higher than in my tenure. But all in all, it did nothing to close the widening gap between them and NOTBPW.

(Show Rating C+ , Main Event C+ World title Match B+ )

Alex Decolt makes another move to become the SWF of Canada as my last gimmick, Death Monkey, aka Hell Monkey, is allowed to leave while the more ‘entertainment friendly’ Robbie Retro is assigned to take his place. He does extend the contracts of Primus Allen, Bobby Thomas, Phillipe LaGrenier, Frederique Antonio Garcia, Jerome Turner and current World Champion Runaway Train.

CGC’s Title Bout Wrestling shows take a slight dip in Canada , where they run in the 0.55-0.58 range, down from the 0.62 of the previous month.. American ratings hold steady at 0.52 for the first three weeks and dip to a 0.47 as the last week’s show was a weak offering before the PPV.

Around the rest of the wrestling world the news for March 2010 was…..

News:

  • 20 yr old Englishman Dwayne Dark, one of the first graduates of the new National School of Wrestling in England, makes his debut. A tough man with a legitimate boxing background and a solid schooling in basics, but lacking charisma or the finer points of ring psychology.
  • Australian Jim Force clone Nighthawk makes his debut. It seems the Forcechlorians have made their way down under as the face painted, permed hair youngster shows a lot of flash and charisma, but a lack of actual ring skills. Still that never held back the original, and only the lack of a competitive wrestling scene in Australia may hold back his young padawan wanna be.
  • Mexican born, Israeli heritaged second gen lucha Sabra Man Jr enters the wrestling world. He possesses his father’s toughness and some decent mat skills, and has potential if he can polish his in ring storytelling and develop some charisma.
  • Jared ‘Double J’ Johnson, a protégé of former dominant NOTBPW champion Johnny Bloodstone, enters the professional ranks. Has excellent mat skills, a solid fundamental base and decent charisma. Has the potential to be a big star given development and the proper situation.
  • Accomplished Super Junior wrestler Super Joshuya suffered a devastating injury that has put his ability to walk in jeopardy, much less his career. He suffered a semi severed spinal column and even the best case scenario would put him on the shelf for at least 15 months. Given the fact that Joshuya is already 41, it seems likely that his career is all but over in the ring. We pray for his recovery to full health regardless of whether he wrestles again or not.
  • Peter Valentine, aka the man who rode Sam Strong’s coattails, has retired at the age of 47. While having a fairly successful career, with 3 TCW International, 1 TCW Tag team and 1 USPW World title run, one wonders how much of that success was the result of being the legendary Sam Strong’s best friend.
  • Huge 460lb Mammoth, a midcard ‘monster heel’ for both CGC and NOTBPW for most of his career, called it quits at age 47. He did have one tag title run in CGC with the equally large and equally talent less Land Mass.

Signings and Leavings:

  • NOTBPW has brought in the world famous Bruce the Giant to their roster. A surprise move for the promotion and probably an attempt to further their appeal outside the North American market.
  • 4C brings in Danny Fonzarelli and says goodbye to Snow Fox.
  • Apparently you can go home again, and again, and again, as Jim ‘Buy my Merchandise!’ Force has once again returned to USPW. Apparently not seeing a call up to SWF anytime soon, Force goes back to the scene of his greatest successes while he rides out the rest of his RIPW contract.
  • Perhaps regretting his move to SWF awhile ago, given their recent struggles, Brent Hill takes bookings in Japan with INSPIRE, alongside his current SWF bookings.
  • Bradford Peverall departs FCW.
  • Louis Figo Manico apparently can play favorites as , right after signing with EWA, he departs UEW, the other child promotion of his former UCR.

Title Changes:

  • Louis Figo Manico wastes no time as he defeats Byron to become the new EWA Universal Champion days after debuting for the company.
  • The Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team cup is won by the former Elite pairing of Dan DaLay and Eddie Chandler, who renew their partnership in NOTBPW.
  • Shuji Inukai claims his third PGHW Elite Series tournament win.
  • Blood Raven captures his first world title in dethroning Pablo Rodriguez for the SOTBPW Campeon de Mundo belt.

Even though I am in the opposite end of North America and about as far removed from CGC as its possible to get in the same hemisphere, Alex DeColt apparently has the need to prove he can still mess with me. Nomad came to me last week and said that CGC had contacted him for a ppa contract. Obviously he was going to accept and I couldn’t blame him. He’d get more work and far more exposure there than I could give him here and he was a good worker who could go far if given the right break. If I was in his shoes, I’d jump at the chance. Hell, I did when George DeColt made me a similar offer. But as much as Nomad deserves this, I have to wonder whether Alex would have even noticed him if he hadn’t come work for me down here. After all, he’d been available for Alex at anytime in the last 9 months. Nomad said he’d work out the rest of his contract, but I had doubts about his availability. It wasn’t a big loss as Nomad was more of a filler guy who had potential than an important part of the roster, but it still irritates me that Alex felt the desire to screw with me some more. One day his arrogance would probably cost him bigtime, and I hoped I was there to see it.

But enough about Alex and me, I still had to try and get ourselves back on track after last month’s less than stellar show. I had made my usual round of upper level talent in Mexico, given that we were still operating at a surplus, but met with my usual string of rejections, including Larry Wood, who basically said he can make far more money in Japan. I did get Manuel Prieto, one of the biggest names in Lucha history, and now working as a road agent, to agree to meet with me, but Championa Jr nixed his contract demands from the get go. ( I still think he doesn’t want anyone more famous than him here, and he is using the money as an excuse.) But the month wasn’t totally worthless as I did manage to secure a couple of decently known names in mexico that would fit into our main storyline nicely. Now onto the card for April, named MHW Por Orgullo y Pais ( For Pride and Country ). The website and flyers advertised the following matches

Hugo Garrido vs. Jesus Chavez , with the winner getting an entry into next month’s hardcore battle royal to determine the MHW National Champion.

Chavez scored a win last month, while Garrido suffered defeat at the hands of the American’s leader David Mack. With an opportunity to compete in the National title battle royal next month, which man will come out on top?

Shadow Warriors vs. Purple & Gold vs. Sabra Man Jr & Pyromaniac for the MHW Tag Championships in a three way tag team Lucha Match.

With the feud between the Shadow Warriors and Purple & Gold heating up, the addition of a wildcard team could seriously change the complexion of things. Will this new element cost the champs the titles or can they defend against not only their rivals, but an unknown element as well?

Slayyer & Championa Jr vs. The Cannonball Kid & Masked Patriot in a Lucha hardcore tag team match

The war between America and Mexico heated up with the newest addition to the American side, Sam Pratt aka The Cannonball Kid. Will the Americans back up their claims of superiority by beating not one, but two Mexican World Champions? Or can the native sons of Mexico defend their national pride and honor against the ‘Rudos Americanos’?

Mexican Beast vs. David Mack in a lucha steel cage match.

After David Mack cost him the MHW Global title, Mexican Beast has demanded that he get David Mack in a steel cage where he can deal with the upstart American one on one with no outside interference. Mexican Beast is one of the most powerful and physically dominant luchas in Mexico, but will the crafty David Mack have a plan to neutralize Mexican Beast? Or will his crusade to prove American superiority suffer a violent and painful setback?
