Surprised this hasn't been posted here yet:

Seems they're not down for the count yet. Intriguing (and kickass) promo to say the least, they called out Glenn Beck(who apparently already declined the "invitation"). And they delivered a heck of a "Boom, headshot" to the 4th wall.

As it stands, the angle has been making a bit of airwaves about Zeb Colter's views.

Zeb is exactly what Swagger needs. Swagger can't cut a promo to save his life and Zeb's mic skills are so natural. Just don't let him do any booking :p

*edit*

Just finished that video. Great job by WWE, Swagger, and Zeb. I loved that they broke kayfabe to not only defend the company, but the company's fans as well.

Yeah. I have to admit, that is a great promo. :)

And a good opportunity to break kayface.

Zeb is half of what he needed. The other half was a character/gimmick/anything to make him more interesting than just "Jack Swagger, Bland Interchangeable Heel #248". Clearly, the WWE is at least trying that as well, but it'll be interesting to see if this gimmick catches on and can help Swagger show some sort of personality for a change.

I'll temper my expectations, I've been an ardent "Swagger is booooorrriiiiiing" guy for a long time, and I'd say for good reason. But I'll keep an open mind, and maybe Swagger can do what the Miz did once upon a time and go from one of the guys that makes me turn off the TV to someone I usually enjoy seeing.

Though in all fairness, The Miz is trying to pull a 180 as he's absolutely atrocious as a face. He's a prime example of a guy that in TEW terms can play a heel strong, but struggles to be a face. He needs to go back to being the cocky heel that proclaims he's better than everyone, even though he blatantly cheats at every turn, because that was actually awesome.

I've never been a fan of Swagger, but this story line has sold me on him so far.

Honestly I don't get the Swagger love. The entire storyline is all on Zeb. If it wasn't for Mantell cutting awesome promos it would be worthless. Look at Swagger standing behind Zeb is he even paying attention? Does he even look like he remotely cares in the things Zeb is saying?

As for breaking the fourth wall I'm not a fan of it. I don't want to go to a TV show or movie and right when the story is getting good they say "oh wait you know this is all entertainment and we don't really hate each other".

Would it have been enjoyable for Austin to stop in the middle of a McMahon beat down and say "I don't actually hate Vince we are just two characters portraying a story and we're not encouraging anyone to interact violence on their bosses". No it wouldn't have been.

Anyway I think Zeb could have gotten more accomplished with someone other than Swagger. Bring up a new guy from NXT and give him to Zeb and have this thing slowly build up instead of throwing Swagger who is still just as boring as before into the world title picture.

I also agree that two Wrestlemania's ago I was a huge fan of the Miz and now he's done a 180. They completely cut his legs as a main eventer and have him doing next to nothing important these days. Although he's banging Maryse so I guess he doesn't really care what they have him doing.

The Wrestlemania you are referring to (27) was one of the worst Wrestlemania's of all time In My opinion. Rock completely ruined it by being the host and because of his ego, no match on the show with the exception of HHH vs. Taker got more than 15 minutes.

Also the match between The Miz and John Cena was so mediocre that It felt like a match on RAW and not the main event on the grandest stage of them all. I have never been a huge fan of the miz whether he was a face or a heel I honestly didn't mind his title run but other than that I wouldn't go out of my way to watch a match of his or listen to a promo that have did because he is just awful. Plus his ring name is just horrible but that is my opinion.

Except it wasn't a TV show or movie, it was a youtube video. Which is a large contrast to your example. Another difference being that it seems that was the main point of their promo, unlike Austin doing a crucial action.

I get the sentiment about Swagger, I'm at the point where I neither dislike or like him, just waiting to see where he can go with this angle. I agree Zeb is the main guy behind the whole thing, but that can be more or less the point of managers to begin with, to be a commendable mouthpiece for their client. Yeah pick any other guy from NXT it'll amount to the same thing. Except not as much because Zeb Colter's client would have to work from the ground up and beat some no-names along the way. Making Zeb almost like all the others. Swagger had his run to the top, his immediate push has put both of them on the map, which is win/win. He's likened over the years to the whole all-American spiel, and he's not the best on the mic but he can talk, honestly people like him are among those who need managers the most.

That was actually very good, thanks for the link TBP. Made me proud. Everyone has known wrestlers are actors for years, and I can't think of a better way to answer Glenn Beck. Just step out of character, explain to him as if he were a 5 year old that we are entertainers, no one is trying to actually hurt anyone, then step back into character. "In this story, we are the antagonists ("bad" guys), Alberto is the protagonist ("good" guy)". Awesome stuff.

Jack Swagger ruled in ECW. He was still a rather generic heel, but what he did with it was literally hilarious. Him and Ryder were the two single funniest people on WWE TV tome at that point in time. In fact, I think Swagger was pretty damn good at the main show level until he won that title, then he looked like he was in over his head every time he was on TV.

I guess it was a classic case of giving the guy the belt too soon.

haha! Yes, exactly. When current mainstream wrestling finally gets even slightly edgier(even with Hassan back in the day), these asses like Glenn Beck have to jump in and act like it's real, after decades of being told 'you know wrestling isn't real, it's all fake blah blah!' and always reminding wrestling fans of this to this day. Duh, everyone knows it's all an act by now. It does a reversal against the 'non wrestling people' and makes them feel like the douchetard.

In an interview, Vince was asked about his "Kafabe breaking", and he answered the question similarly. "They know it's entertainment, we know it's entertainment, there is no reason to insult our fans intelligence."

I watched the Glenn Beck thing, his problem seemed to be that they were making a villain out of, what he thought were, their main audience. He basically said that almost all the WWE audience are far-right, Tea Party level Republicans and that WWE were making fun of them because Linda didn't win in either of her campaigns. Then he started ranting about WWE making fun of him and his beliefs, and pointing out the differences between himself and Zeb Coulter... I was just thinking "If there are all these differences and you don't agree with what this CHARACTER says, maybe don't get so butthurt and assume someone is making fun of you?". It just made him sound very insecure and defensive over his beliefs.

First time I'd ever seen/heard him, had only heard of him previously, he's just as much an idiot as I'd heard.

I remember hearing that The Miz suffered a concussion during the match and was loopy all the way till the end. I personally like The Miz and his ring skills have improved a lot. While I don't think he will win the WWE title again he seems to have a lot of upside with his media appearances and his ability to move from midcard to tag teams to fringe main eventer.

However even before that the match wasn't very good. The crowd was absolutely dead and it seemed like the Miz was just going though the motions during the match even before the point where he got a concussion.</p>

He's a solid midcarder who can put on a decent match with most of roster. Having said that, Miz and Cena were a bad pairing for such a high profile match. Cena needs someone more experienced for big matches like Punk to bring out his A game.</p>

<p>Yes. He did suffer a concussion.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, I remember HHH and Taker were fined by the WWE for chair shots to the head. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
