I think Punk/Taker would be great and dramatic because Punk could draw on the one thing he has over Taker that just about nobody else (well, nobody currently active, at least) does: he made Undertaker tap out. And in a title match, no less.

Just incorporate that little golden nugget into one of his promos and he'll instantly be able to make people think "Well, would Undertaker be able to return the favor when it counts? Or is an angry pipebombing Punk just too much for him again?"

I happen to think that the Punk/Undertaker match at WM will probably turn out to be LEAGUES better than it really deserves to be considering the shape Taker's in at this point. I predict lots of near-falls and at least 2 or 3 dramatic rope-breaks of each of their submissions.

So Heyman said, after ruining the delight of seeing NAO back on TV for a brief moment, that they've now destroyed the "last vestiges of DX".

And I found out, after joking about him, that Sean Waltman signed a Legends contract four days ago. Curious if they'll make any use of him, or if it's just a merchandise deal (even though he was already in the last video game...).

In other news: push Justin Gabriel. Please?

I'm kinda torn on Raw.

On the one hand, I think the whole punk insulting taker and kane's memorial service for Bearer led to great heat and kicked the storyline reasons for taker wanting a piece of punk from "meh" to this should be good.

On the other hand, It always makes me uncomfortable, even when the families say it's ok, when WWE can't even wait for the body to be cold before they flip a death for heat.

I felt the same way about Orton going after Eddie, even with Vicki signing off on it.

But there's no denying that storyline has far more behind it now going into mania.

I'd bet there's going to be at least one full DX reunion before 'Mania. Kinda hoping it's at the philly show on MArch 25 :-) Because I'm going. In the VIP box.

I remember the Orton one being a lot worse than this (I think). I get what you mean but I think they were careful to not overstep any mark. I think they hyped it up a lot but IIRC what he actually said there wasn't anything that disrespectful other than interrupting it, but the fact they'd giving such a good tribute at the start and throughout the show sort of negated that. I don't think any disrespect was shown to Bearer - fair enough if you disagree but I think it was presented in a way that it really wasn't as bad as :)

Edit: I also completely get the "feeling uncomfortable", it was a bit like "what's he going to say next?" but as far as I'm concerned it wasn't too bad.

Honestly I don't even think you can compare the two. Punk never directly said anything derogatory about his death. Interrupting Undertaker and doing the whole urn thing was bad kind of but I don't think it should even be in the same sentence as saying Eddie Guerrero was in hell.

I also wonder what would have happened had he not died. It just seemed like a natural storyline evolution and Punk is the first heel UT is facing in a long time (WM24) so the feud needed to be more than respect/streak/etc and despite the obvious coincidence, Bearer's death really made the story better than I thought it could have been. Overall I think WWE needs way more heels who are actual bad guys and not just the people that we don't like because the good guys fight them. Heels should be the ones you WANT to see get their ass kicked because they are doing bad things and in general making life hell for the babyface and then they eventually get their just due at the PPV.

<p>My two cents about last monday's RAW:</p><p> </p><p>

So...i assume Vince McMahon was meeting his creative teem to discusse ideas for wrestlemania and he said:</p><p> </p><p>

- "Who should we put against The Undertaker at this year's Mania??</p><p> </p><p>

Creative team in silence...Vince Continues:</p><p> </p><p>

- CM Punk, that looks good. And how should we build up that feud?</p><p> </p><p>

More silence from the rest of the staff...Vince goes on:</p><p> </p><p>

- By making him lose to Kane, just a few weeks before his match with Taker. That will make everyone believe that he will certainly win The Undertaker. I'm glad we all agree!"</p><p> </p><p>

Yeah...that's about it.</p>

I event thought they could have done a better tribute to Bearer then they did. Putting guys like Ziggler and Kofi and Miz talking about it is fine, as they were probably fans at the time, but they could have collected statements from older guys that worked with him. Other than that, i liked the video tributes.</p><p> </p><p> Edit: He lost when Taker appeared in the ramp distracting him. Still, it's no way to build Punk up to potentially end a streak. The fans have to believe he will win, even if Punk loses, as he probably will.</p>

<p>I don't dislike what happened?</p><p> </p><p>

I mean, it's classic Taker. I don't think Punk is hurt by falling victim to Taker mindgames and he immediately got any heat he lost straight back by beating Kane up and then chickening out of fighting Taker, and then mocking his pose and all. *Shrugs*</p>

<p>Smackdown was on top form this week. A few good matches, plenty of Shield action, progression of the Ryback/Henry feud, funny Ricardo/ADR skit.</p><p> </p><p>

As for the Paul Bearer stuff: I was happy with the tribute and don't mind his use in the feud. Kane beating Punk was a nice nod of respect to Bearer (Punk probably would have won otherwise). Marks were given something to cheer and Punk still got heat when he stole the urn, beat-down Kane with it and mocked Taker.</p>

It was a good match, which punk dominated for the most part, and he lost because of taker.</p><p> </p><p> It's not like Kane came out and whooped him, Punk was in control the whole match until Taker distracted him and kane took advantage, and he beat the stuffing out of kane with the Urn right afterwards and mocked taker to keep his heat.</p><p> </p><p> I mean, they were in a tough spot there. You weren't going to have kane lose when the whole show was built around him trying to avenge his father's memory for a feel good moment.</p>

<p>I still don't know why some people are still so fixated on wins and losses. I just watched the match and it wasn't even a clean victory for Kane, Punk was distracted. And Kane had fuel going into the match. People actin' like he lost to Zack Ryder.</p><p> </p><p>

Is there anything hyped for tonight's Raw, I heard something about the HHH/Brock stip, baffled that they haven't announced that yet but hey. (haven't watched since before EC)</p>

<p>Punk losing was a one-night payoff thing. He interrupted the tribute to Paul Bearer ( I LOLed) and as a fitting send off to a television character, they had the Taker/Kane side look good for one night. And like previously stated, it was not exactly a clean one it was a distraction.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, Punk DID bring the fight to Kane and looked pretty good if you watched the entire match, and didn't just judge it by the last 10 seconds.</p><p> </p><p>

In the lead up to mania for the next coupe of weeks, Punk will probably look quite strong. But he's honestly been winning those big PPV matches by the skin of his teeth more than putting on dominating performances. So it's not like Punk cant lose a little bit here and there and still be a credible threat. But seriously, does anyone really think Punk wins at WM? Come on now. Be serious. He doesn't have to look particularly strong. He simply has to draw enough heat to make the fans want to see Taker pin him. Classic wrestling logic 101 here, folks.</p>

In previous years we've know the majority weeks and weeks in advance (or even a full year with Cena/Rock) and it can descend into filler. This year they're giving good content (at least so far) right until the PPV which gives it a bigger feel IMO.</p>
