Doug Williams got released :(

While I liked him, it was probably for the better. It is not as if they used him on their main show anyway. I know they were using him as a trainer in Ohio but I think they missed the boat in using him more on television.

Impact was another good show this week, I'm totally psyched for the BFG Series and it should make for some amazing matches over the next few months. This show and the next are setting up the contestants for the series, and it's looking interesting in terms of some of the people who are going to be in there and who isn't.

Sadly I'm ony posting and running, so the only other thing I'll say just now is that the Impact crowd were hot for the show, something that always makes the show seem better. Hopefully the crowd is as hot for next week's Impact too, which will have an Angle-Styles BFG Series qualifier. And with what looks to be the set up for an Angle vs Rampage match at BFG, I think this is going to be Styles getting a huge win going forward. :)

With Sting bringing in a new main event mafia, I was wondering who you guys think he will bring in? I don't think it should be any current TNA wrestlers, mainly because the reason for the return of MEM is the roster not coming to help Sting against Aces and Eights. Which rules out former members, Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe. Booker T and Kevin Nash are in the WWE at the moment, so that is them out. Scott Steiner is out mainly because of what he has said about TNA and Hogan. Jeff Jarrett? Jarrett was approached by MEM if I remember correctly, so he could be involved. Lex Luger? Sting has always had a good relationship with Lex, that is why Lex joined WCW for the first Nitro anyway, but last I heard Lex also works for the WWE, on the wellness policy. I am intrigued at who TNA would have in this new MEM, but can't really see anyone joining that would be logical to the storyline, mainly because it has been portrayed as Sting on his own, to get his own family/mafia. AJ Styles? AJ is doing the tweener role at the moment, where it is AJ on his own, no Angle Alliance, Christian Coalition, Fourtune, Front Line, Sports Entertainment Xtreme, and whatever else he has been a member of. Maybe do something similar to the introduction of Aces and Eights, keep them under Sting-themed masks, and reveal them down the road. What do you guys think?

I don't think TNA really need to look outside of the company for MEM (Lord knows they have enough workers on their roster not to need to), although storyline-wise, I don't know which of the other main players in the A&8s saga would really be a fit... Magnus? Maybe a defection from A&8s? Like you said, former members are mainly ruled out for the reasons mentioned, although Matt Morgan flirted with the MEM for a while, so perhaps he could form part of this new incarnation with Jarrett being another 'borderline member' who might be in the mix.</p><p> </p><p> Part of me hopes for 'Black Snow' to return and duel on the announce table with Tazz. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Could certainly see Doc defecting. Jarrett as a face coming back to reclaim the company he built? Why not? It's been so long since he left the spotlight, most wrestling fans would buy into it. You could have Al Snow join as a rival to D-Lo, although Snow isn't exactly "Main Event". Jeff Hardy would seem like a good choice, and I really wouldn't mind seeing them bring in John Morrison. Just think about what Hardy and Morrison could do in tag matches against As & 8s.</p><p> </p><p>

It's all speculation though, and prob none of that will happen. ^_^</p>

I think Jarrett makes a lot of sense as a choice, and even Morgan. I'd like to see Joe in it just so he's in a week to week storyline for the first time in what seems like years, but if they go back to the all suit gimmick for this It'd seem a little strange to have Joe in there. Maybe this is how RVD returns? Again, I don't really think it fits his character, but is a possibility.

Solid impact, I really like the quality of TNA's matches. Partly because they don't run as many matches as WWE and so they don't need to use fillers. It also helps to have a talented roster. I liked the kick off to the BFG series and absolutely loved the draw between Joe and Styles as I did not want to see any of them lose that match. Plus, I got to see Bully Ray squeal like a little girl when Angle locked the ankle lock. Ah...the good times! :D

AJ has a very Rowdy Roddy Piper feel to him right now, minus the comedy. I hope they take their time exploring where this can go, and I think they will.

Is it a forgone conclusion already that AJ wins the BFG since that's when his 1 year without a title shot thing ends? Maybe he will lose in the finals as a swerve, but I dunno. It seems so obvious that it can't not happen. If that makes sense. :p

It does. I also think he's going to win it. Hope so, but maybe they surprise us. But I wouldn't mind to be not surprised in this matter, if that makes sense. :D

<p>I really hope AJ wins the BFG Series as it feels like it's what his whole past year of booking has led to. I thought he did a great job delivering his promo, I know a lot of people don't think he's great on the stick but I've always thought he's done a good job with what he's given. That being said, I already have my doubts after Slammiversary and then having him draw with Joe, who hasn't been in title contention in what seems like forever.</p><p> </p><p>

Other than that, the matches were really good as usual for the most part, everything seemed to progress nicely this week. I guess Angle will be chasing the Championship for now? For some reason I have a sneaking suspicion it'll end up being Angle with the gold come BFG, where he'll lose to AJ. That really sucks for Bully Ray and I kind of hope I'm wrong, but at the end of the day his match with Hogan will probably mean more to casual fans and still probably be last on the card.</p>

<p>From what I have read it seems that Jeff Jarrett is persona non grata in TNA. Now that I have said that watch him show up as a member of the MEM.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> What I find funny about the whole rebirth angle of the MEM is why it is starting up again. Sting said he is starting it up again because nobody in the locker room was there to watch his back during his match with Bully. Which okay that is a decent enough reason or it would be if he did not recruit Kurt Angle and <span style="color:#FFFFFF;">Samoa Joe</span> to join the MEM. </p><p> </p><p> Were they not both at that PPV? Neither one of them were there to watch Sting's back then.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Rone Rivendale" data-cite="Rone Rivendale" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25170" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I was just replying to you saying maybe that's how RVD comes back to TNA, as a member of the Main Event Mafia. Obv, that won't be happening. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Did you look at the date of the post or were you just looking to "educate" another poster?</p>

<p>pwinider "reporting" that <span style="color:#FFFFFF;">Taz</span> may be leaving TNA. </p><p> </p><p>

Major spoilers in white below: </p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#FFFFFF;">Former ECW World champion and TNA announcer Taz issued a pretty interesting comment on Twitter this evening:</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Couple of big wrestling shows in my "hometown" of Brooklyn! #RedHookNearBarclay</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

— TAZ (@OfficialTAZ) June 26, 2013</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

The mention of Barclay is obviously a reference to the Barclays Center, which will host WWE Raw for the first time on 7/15.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

What is interesting about that comment is that in asking around to TNA sources this evening, we confirmed that Taz's current deal with the company is set to expire in just a few weeks.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

TNA is running Brooklyn on 7/5, but Taz did not specifically reference that date or venue, MCU Field, at all - instead cryptically making a reference to the Monday Night Raw taping.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

So, could Taz could be teasing that he's about to follow Rob Van Dam and head back to WWE? Stay tuned.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

update from Mike Johnson</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Several readers sent word that Taz has removed his Twitter comment making a cryptic reference to next month's WWE Raw taping in Brooklyn, NY.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#FFFFFF;">

Also, in my earlier story, I wrote that TNA sources noted that Taz's current deal with the company was set to expire in several weeks. That may have been incorrect. One source contacted PWInsider.com stating that Taz's final contracted appearance for the promotion could be as soon as this Saturday's TNA Impact Wrestling taping in Las Vegas, which will tape episodes airing on 7/4 and 7/11. </span></p>

The Gut Check match on the last Impact made me angry. Zack Ryder's friend seemed to be going out of his way to make the other guy look bad. No selling. Bumping terribly. Taking as much of the match as he could. Awful. Admittedly, it's what you'd expect when you have two guys working a match while essentially competing with each other for a contract.

On the happier side, I enjoyed Impact again. I love the BFG series. Roode/Magnus was fun. Love Bully Ray. Love Mickie James. Totally didn't see the ending coming. The early Suicide reveal was a little weird, but I'm a massive fan of the guy, so I can dig it to a certain extent.

I like Big O and all and want him to get a shot, but you are right he didn't work the match as well as Ryan Howe (who actually impressed me a bit). I would think no-selling and those kinds of blatantly obvious things have to be a mark against him if you're competing for a contract.</p><p> </p><p> It'll be interesting to see how it goes (I don't read spoilers so I don't know what happens till Thursday) but I wouldn't be shocked if they take Howe over Big O. Howe looked more fluid and more versatile. I could see Howe producing more quality matches against more varied opponents than I do Big O. Obviously the character needs a bit of work.</p><p> </p><p> That said Big O should be working more prominently somewhere. He's got a great look and he's fairly athletic for such a big dude. Plus he has great name value for someone at his level he could get some good momentum going pretty quick. I mean the dude is 27 he's got plenty of time to learn to get better. I would think he was the frontrunner going into the TNA Gutcheck match. Taz was kinda putting him over a bit so I guess he's the favorite. I'm just saying if you look objectively I think Howe was the overall better worker based on that one single match we saw.</p>

<p>I say it is hard for someone as Big O to find a perfect point between no-selling and overselling. He's a really big dude and if he sells too much it just looks to unrealistic much like Cena getting put to the ground from a couple of punches from The Miz.</p><p> </p><p>

But yeah I like Big O and hopefully he gains more experience in the indies in some of the more entertainment oriented promotions. He's not going to work PWG or ROH but maybe Wrestling is Fun or Family Wrestling Entertainment could use him. Even Chikara can always use a hammy athletic big man like him.</p>
