I'd like to applaud Ring of Honor for bringing back Matt Sydal. The guy is an incredible talent and should give a whole lot of people really good runs for their money.

However, I must also give them a warning from my inner "mark". This Reborn business? Nut uh. Not gonna fly. It always sounds well and good but then I see that promotional still and it all goes out the window. You could not convince me to buy a can of paint from a man you promote with that photo. Much less an inspirational face wrestling gimmick. That promotional shot makes him look like a smarmy little fraud with a very punchable face. Dude's been back for like 20 minutes and I'm already bracing for him to end up in The House of Truth or The Kingdom. Maybe even go Steve Corino evil and try to form his own concern. Although that might be easier if The Decade didn't exist. Anyway if you want us to root for Sydal, you have to make him look like he can be trusted. Because right now, he doesn't.

And for the first time, I hear what Michael Elgin's critics do with him on the stick. That promo was halting. It was incoherent. For a guy who's been repackaged as a devil may care rebel, Elgin didn't sound the least bit authentic. If anything, he sounded like the corporate puppet he claims he doesn't want to be. He sounded he was going out to talk like a rebel because he'd been ordered to do so. This is not going to be an easy sell job to say the least.

The character seems very true to life if that's indeed what they are going for because Elgin is a real piece of work from what I've heard. I met him at an ROH show in September 2013 and he was sitting at a table and being extremely annoying which turned a lot of people off. Plus his stunt of saying that he wont do podcasts unless he gets paid $25 to promote himself is a dumb move and made me lose a lot of respect for him.

This.

I met him at an Indy show back in February and while most of the wrestlers on the card that were names (Jimmy Jacobs, Tommaso Ciampa, and a few others) interacted with the fans (Most of the wrestlers watched the show in the crowd with the fans) Elgin just sat by himself sulking in the wrestlers only section of the crowd.

Elgin strikes me as someone that had one "good" match and let that go to his head.

I never got why they handed him the title. He is by no means terrible in the ring but he has no personality and he looks like retired baseball player John Kruk. At least he got rid of the Bono mullet.

I thought the fact that he came to the interview with dip in his mouth was an appropriately prick move. But yeah, his delivery itself was bad, not that that's anything new. He's talented in the ring and I usually enjoy his matches, but he's weak in most other areas. Cole made for a better champ, and so does Briscoe.

So it sounds like this show will be the same show that aired this weekend for me. House of Truth going up against the Briscoes. I wonder if the shows booked going forward will have a "bigger" feel to them now that they are in twice as many homes. I would hope they would take time to re introduce the company and characters to the much larger audience going forward.

Forum post from Big Daddy Dave on the Observer board that I found on Twitter.</p><p> </p><p>

And, according to some tweets that are posted off a report I haven't seen yet...</p><p> </p><p>

'ROH's combined viewership on just DA was 273,000 combined. TNA did just under 370k combined.'</p><p> </p><p>

'163,000 for ROH on Destination America. Replay at 11PM did 110,000. TNA's replay did 72,000.'</p><p> </p><p>

So, good for ROH.</p>

Does anyone have a list of all the major ROH events and which are most recommended? I'm only a casual. I watch maybe 4-5 events per year to keep up. The last 2 I watched were Final Battle and War of the Worlds.

the main 4 shows as i remember it were The Anniversary show, Death Before Dishonor, Glory by Honor, and Final Battle. I haven't been able to follow ROH as much in the last few years so I'm not sure if any of these have fallen out in favor of shows like Best in the World, and War of the Worlds but Final Battle was ROH's Wrestlemania equivalent show

Final Battle is still the biggest. The other three don't particularly stand out anymore. Best in the World is probably their second biggest show now, unless you want to take the supershows with New Japan into account.

Caught a few minutes of one of their shows on TV for the first time. Now I completely understand the comments about their camera work. Very far below WWE or TNA in that area, but the in ring action I saw was good.

Yeah they have the habit of shooting directly into the lights which is horrible. Though I have to say they have not done that recently.

Their production all around is pretty horrible. I hate the lighting period. Its so dark it comes across as bush league. The set if you want to call it that is non existent. The company badly needs to invest in its production values if it ever wants to be taken as a serious operation outside of its hardcore fanbase.
