cappyboy
There are some good guys on their roster, admittedly but Delirious seems intent on jobbing them out in favor of Matt Taven of all people. No way I'm paying $32 for a Matt Taven main event. Delirious doesn't have an excuse either as even with the current state of their roster there were still far better choices to hold the title then Taven. And this is where the last four or five years come back to bite them. They've bled main eventers and chased away guys they should have been able to build up to the main event. Less time leo hunting and putting over the New Japan partnership maybe they would have better options right now. But honestly it comes down to one question for me. If not Taven, who? They took it off Lethal because he'd had it for so long and they needed fresh blood. And for better or worse, Taven's got the resume and is as RoH as they come. Neither the characters of Jay Briscoe nor Dalton Castle are in a headspace to be world champ right now. Kenny King would be to me as Matt Taven is to you. Who knows what's up with Scurll? TV still treats Villian Enterprises as an intact thing even though they don't show Marty much. Shane Taylor's not world title ready. TV title sure but he needs building before he could be presented as best in the biz like RoH does with their world champs. Cobb's got the talent but is he personality enough to do the media spots with sponsors or draw folks to personal appearances? You gonna pull Cabana out of the booth and make him champ? I suppose I could see PJ Black with the belt. But he doesn't appear to have full commitment to the company if TV's all you have to go by. When Matt Taven is the most complete package you have to be world champion, something's wrong with your talent pool. I may like the guy myself and may have done so going back to the original feud with Mike Mondo. But when there's so much chatter about whether your champion's even championship material, you have someone working over their pay grade and that's not good. TheGhost
So, someone asked how much I paid for my tickets. Just found my ticket stub and we paid 75 dollars. Now we were 3rd row right below Ian and Colt.

And just to compare, when we went to NXT at the Agora in Cleveland back in 2016, when the product was massively red hot because of Balor, Joe, Asuka, Revival, American Alpha, Vaudvillans. We paid 75 for a floor seat, but that didn't guarantee us a certain seat, it was just a seat in the first 5 rows, so unless you got there and froze your ass off all day you were lucky to get within the first 3 rows. At least with ROH our spots were what we paid for.

And as far as best in the world goes, there was a lot of good, but man was there some questionable booking. Also they need to get the tag titles off of GOD if they are not going to be available for one of their biggest shows of the year, it was crap that the belts weren't on the line or being showcased.

Was not a fan of Taven going over Cobb, Cobb could be a believable silent killer as Champion. Lets just hope they are setting Rush up for a run, personally I would have given the belt to Cobb and let him run with it until Final Battle where he would have met Rush in a Streak vs. Streak/Championship match, wasted opportunity in my book.

Don't get why people were upset with Shane Taylor beating Bandito, Shane has come a long ways from his Dark City Fight Klub days with Cory Chavis, and has improved immensely and has put in the work, and is a great heel to boot. I hope he gets a good run out of this, he is a guy that if he continues to improve and really hones his craft will make an excellent heel world champion in a few years.

And why is Flip in Villain Enterprises? I mean I get the whole he was brushed off by Lifeblood and now wants revenge schtick. But personally Maria Manic would have been a way better choice, and more interesting at that.

But personally Maria Manic would have been a way better choice, and more interesting at that. I'm of two minds about Taven going over Cobb. You want to talk pure in-ring talent I could see presenting Cobb as the better man. But really as a total package as champion, I see Taven as the better choice. If you want the champion doing personal appearances and such, Taven's a lot more likely to draw people there than Cobb is. His strong suit is talking the talk while Cobb's more a speak softly and carry a big stick kind of guy. If I'm looking for a RoH personality as a spokesman I think it's pretty clear which of the two I'd choose. Tend to agree with you on Taylor. The guy can eventually be world champ but I don't see that he's there quite yet. If they tried to present him as the best talent on the roster right now, I'm not sure I could believe that. Dude's really good at being the big powerful mauler. No doubt about that. But the top guy on the RoH roster? That feels a bit of a stretch. A couple years down the road or so? Sure I can see him getting there provided he doesn't suffer an injury or get persuaded to let someone gobble him up like recent project guys have. For now, I'm good with him as TV champion as that builds the resume Taven style. But I have a better question for you on Villian Enterprises. Forget why they added Flip to the group. What really even is Villian Enterprises anyway? Scurll is apparently out of the company as he hasn't been on TV in ages and yet they've been treating the group like an intact thing even though it's namesake is gone. It almost seems like they are trying to do the Kingdom trick over again. Except in The Kingdom's case it's not like the group was directly named after Mike Bennett or Maria Kanellis. So it was easier to transfer leadership over to Taven. Villian Enterprises without their Villian feels like a rudderless ship and one that should be allowed to sink. Maybe let it morph into PCO's Lab or something since the French Canadian has a good following.

TheGhost
I honestly have no idea what the hell is going on with Marty. First it was reported that his contract with ROH was up at the end of April, but here it is July and he is still apart of ROH. I did hear some rumblings that Marty signed some kind of multi-year deal with ROH before his last contract expired, but if that was the case then why is Marty not ROH World Champion? He is by far the most over guy on the roster. And let's be honest here, I would rather not see Marty end up in AEW just yet, between Cody, Kenny, Jericho, The Bucks, Omega, and Hangman he is going to be the low man on the totem pole there and I don't think he will have the spotlight he needs put on him. At least in ROH he is a top guy and is currently involved with the most over group in the entire company.

Not every fan can do Honor Club or buy the PPV's and if Marty's back in the fold there's no point in letting his stable look like a rudderless ship. Marty should be right at the top of the title chase and possibly be the one to dethrone Taven given his popularity. Would make a lot more sense for him to be champ than someone as divisive as Matt Taven.

fullMETAL
Right now, I'm actually legitimately surprised Bandido's still under ROH contract, as I thought another company would've swooped him up to an exclusive by now. As for MLW, I don't think there's any real danger of them poaching from ROH, given that ROH almost instantly grabbed something like 5 guys right out from under them within about 2 months of their MLW debuts (definitely PCO, Brody King, Rush, and I think Dragon Lee; I previously briefly mentioned something before concerning guys like these finishing their contracted dates for MLW before full-timing in ROH). Hell, if Swerve hadn't signed with WWE, ROH probably would've poached him from MLW too after he lost the belt to Low-Ki and we'd be talking about him getting handcuffed too.
