Recommended Posts

Very good start. I haven´t read your previous diaries yet but this one got me hooked.

Animal Harker & Elijah Harris vs. Larry Vessey & Lee Wright.

Harker and Harris are likely win this feud in the end but I think that Vessey & Wright take this one

The Ring Generals© vs. Old School Principals for the NYCW Tag Team titles

Ols School got they win last month so now it´s Ring Generals turn.

Sammy the Shark vs. Honest Frank

I haven´t checked them in 2010 but I think that Frank is much more over.

Steve Flash vs. Black Hat Bailey© for the NYCW Empire Championship

I almost always go with the champ rataining and this isn´t any different.

David Mack vs. Ota, Warrior of Darkness in a Submission Match.

Ninja will always win in the end:D

NYCW MARCH INTO MANHATTAN

Held at the Ministry in Queens

Saturday Week 2 March 2010 Att: 714

PRE SHOW

Several of the older and newer stars of NYCW go among the fans to pose for photographs, have a short question and answer session ( where everyone remains in character) and generally thank them for their support of NYCW.

Rating C-

Something new I am trying to help some of those on the roster who aren't strong or comfortable working to the crowd or doing promos. I had some of the guys like me, Whistler and Honest Frank who are strong at those things and had them work with guys like the Ring Generals, Hugh de Aske and Rick Sanders to learn to become more comfortable with the fans and show that they can interact with them, even in character. Jury is still out on whether it will show any benefits long term, but judging by the audience response, the fans liked it.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Whistler won a battle royal in 9:43. The final four competitors also included a mystery man, Larry Vessey and Rick Sanders, with the mystery man being the final elimination.

Match Rating D

Another experiment I am trying. The main problem with only doing one show a month is that there just isn't a lot of opportunity for those lower on the roster to get a lot of time in ring to work on their skills. While one on one matches with veterans do help, that way only one person is getting any benefit at a time. This way, I can get a group of veterans and a group of rookies all together at once and hopefully benefit several people in less time than would be needed for separate matches. Again jury is still out as to long term result, but the early indications were that this was working so far.

MAIN SHOW

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/SammyTheShark_alt.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/HonestFrank-1.jpg

Sammy the Shark vs. Honest Frank

Sammy showed how far he has come as he is able to go blow for blow with the former Empire Champion Honest Frank. However, Frank has been through the East Coast Wars and also battled the best in both PSW and NYCW and that experience edge is enough to give him the advantage finally as he ducks a wild clothesline attempt from Sammy and follows with a kick into Sammy's gut to set up the Frank N Hurter for the pinfall and the victory.

In a bout that had a good crowd and some decent in-ring action, Honest Frank defeated Sammy The Shark in 10:13 by pinfall with a Frank-N-Hurter.

Match Rating E+

Ouch! Realistically it wasn't that bad a match for our size promotion, but these two should really be able to do better. One of the reasons I didn't actively push Frank the last time I was here was his inconsistent performances, and tonight was a clear example. Frank just didn't have his A game tonight, and combined with Sammy still being inconsistent in his performances and what results was a match that killed the crowd when it should have been pumping it up.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/DazzlingDaveDiamond.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/HughdeAske.jpg

Dazzling Dave Diamond VS Hugh De Aske in a strap match.

Triple D is a straight ahead brawler so the match stips would have seemed to be in his favor, but the flamboyant de Aske seemed to be able to adapt to his opponent's style with considerable ease. Action was fast and intense with a lot of high impact moves attempted by both men. Once again experience was key as Triple D was able to bait the rookie into a mistake that allowed Diamond to tie up de Aske with the strap, and then drag him to all four corners to get the win.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Hugh de Aske in 7:39 when Dazzling Dave Diamond was the first to touch all the corners.

Match Rating D-

This was supposed to be a cooldown match after the opener and it ended up doing better than the preceding match. It might have been even better received if the crowd hadn't lost some of their energy before this. De Aske is a rookie I am predicting good things for, and his ability to work any style helps his showcase the abilities of more limited performers like Triple D, who is pretty much a brawler and that's it. Both men showed the ability to get the crowd into the match and a few months down the road, this could be a good midcard feud.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/LarryVessey.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/LeeWright.jpg

Larry Vessey is backstage, and standing beside him is fellow veteran Lee Wright. Vessey has a mike and says

" You know, people ask me what I have against Animal Harker. After all, he is a decent, polite young man, and all the fans seem to like him. But you see, Harker, just like everyone else here his age, has an attitude of entitlement. They feel that they deserve the spotlight, they deserve the titles and the main event. And that I do have a problem with!

You see this man at my side? He is Lee Wright, and like me, he is someone who rose up the ranks the right way. Like me, he spent most of his years wrestling in Japan, where youngsters in this business know their place. They know they need to build experience, hone their craft, literally spend years proving they have what it takes to succeed. That kind of enviroment breeds champions, it breeds the best because those that can't cut it fall by the wayside. But after Lee and I finally decided to come back to our home country what did we see?"

Vessey turns to Wright who says

" We saw a bunch of young punks who hadn't accomplished anything in this business demanding title shots, main events and to be treated as stars and special talents, all the while disrespecting those of us who have had successful, championship careers!"

Vessey then continues

" People like Animal Harker, a man, who although he may have spirit and toughness, hasn't done anything in this company or this business, yet says to my face that he can beat me up, a man who has more championship belts in his past than Harker has years, a man who has proven over 3 decades that he is one of the toughest men in wrestling. That sheer lack of respect couldn't go unanswered. And as for Elijah Harris. You are someone who has been around a long time. You should know better. But since you decided to defend Harker's disrespect of me, then you too will have to learn the hard way."

Wright then finishes

" If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Harker and Harris tonight we are going to solve the problem the old fashioned way, with our fists!"

Both grizzled veterans then head off to the ring.

Rating D+

Good solid promo to set up the basis of this feud. I am hoping to use this storyline as a basis to build up some other teams to complement my currently slim tag division and Vessey and Wright, with their individual tag team championship experience and similiar background would seem to be a natural pairing.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/AnimalHarker.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/ElijahHarris-1.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/LarryVessey.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/LeeWright.jpg

Animal Harker & Elijah Harris vs. Larry Vessey & Lee Wright.

Harker and Harris try valiantly to stand against the assault of Vessey and Wright, but the menacing veterans show no mercy in relentlessly beating down their opponents. Harris tries to protect his young partner, but is beaten down and tossed out of the ring, leaving the game but inexperienced Harker alone. A Wright Stuff soon follows, driving the youngster to the mat for the pin and the victory for the gaijin veterans.

In an extremely short match, Gaijin Samurai defeated Animal Harker and Elijah Harris in 4:23 when Lee Wright defeated Animal Harker by pinfall with a Wright Stuff.

Match Rating E+

Well, the match had been designed as a squash in order to establish the new pairing of Vessey and Wright. I even had a name all picked out for them, but those plans just went out the window as Vessey and Wright, each one half of two of the most successful tag teams in history, showed absolutely no ability to function together cohesively. Maybe it's because each had only one partner for so long that they just can't work with someone else as well, but as of now, any future for them as a tag team together is dead. Since there are other elements of this storyline to be introduced, maybe I can salvage something from this but I am certainly going to have to change my original plans.

Larry Vessey and Lee Wright aren't done with their opponents after the match is over, as they decide that a further punishing lesson is needed. They toss Elijah Harris back into the ring and are about to work both him and Animal Harker over some more when suddenly, someone runs out of the back with a chair in his hand, slides into the ring and cracks it across the back of Lee Wright! The man then swings it at Vessey, who ducks and quickly bails out of the ring, grabbing his partner Wright and slowly backing up the ramp way, staring in anger and surprise at....

JESSE CHRISTIAN!!! Jesse Christian has come to NYCW!!!

Rating D

Granted it isn't as big a name as , say an Acid or someone like that, but Christian had been a headliner a decade ago of SCCW , a promotion around the same size as us, and with a complementary promotional style. He had been out of action for the past 5-6 years, having taken time off following SCCW's demise, but his competitive fires had been re-stoked and he decided to come back to wrestling recently. Having grown up watching SCCW during it's heyday, I could immediately see the benefits of having him here in NYCW and so made an offer, which he accepted. I decided to add him to this storyline due to his natural ties with Harris, and also to ease him back into the business and let him get acclimated back in the ring before any big expectations are put upon him.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/NYCW_Tag.jpg

The Ring Generals vs. Old School Principals for the NYCW Tag Team titles

These teams were fairly evenly matched a month ago, and tonight was no different as both teams were crisp on their tagging and both teams had stretches were they dominated the action. This time the match stayed in the ring and the finish came when Sanders and Waldorf was the legal men. Waldorf was Whipped into the OSP's corner, but was able to fight his way out, elbowing Mauler off the ring apron while doing so. He then tried to clothesline Sanders, but Sanders ducked. What Sanders didn't see however was Waldorf tagging his partner. Sanders tried to counter attack by coming off the ropes, but Waldorf backdropped him right into the waiting arms of his partner Statler, who then planted Sanders with a vicious backbreaker for the pin and the victory as the Ring Generals successfully retain their belts.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, The Ring Generals defeated Old School Principals in 11:38 when Marv Statler defeated Rick Sanders by pinfall with a Backdrop Backbreaker. The Ring Generals make defence number 1 of their NYCW Tag Team titles.

Match Rating D

Even with Masked Mauler not showing his best stuff, this was a very good tag title match that showcased the skills of the Ring Generals as they pull even in wins versus the Old School Principals.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Ekuma.jpghttp://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/LandMass.jpg

The huge, massively muscled man known as 'Ekuma' is backstage being interviewed and is asked why he got involved after the tri-state title match between Sammy the Shark and Land Mass last month. Ekuma replies

" Well brah, it's like this. Back at the end of January I was out on the beach, pumping some iron and building the pecs. As I was cooling off with my favorite energy drink , BST Alpha, I get a call from my old high school buddy Sammy. Now Sammy and I go way back, and he is a good friend, only don't play poker with the guy as he is a real shark with the cards, but anyway, he says that he is having problems with this big round of mound called Land Mass. Now seeing how this Mass guy was like 3 times the size of my boy Sammy, I decided to come out here and even up the scales, so to speak. So, anyway, after my buddy takes care of business, this dude Land Mass decides he wants to go postal afterwards so I went out there to cool the big dude off. And talk about a walking heart attack waiting to happen! Land Mass brah,I got two words for you 'Weight Watchers'! "

Right then the person in question, Land Mass, interjects himself onto the scene. The camera backs up to get both huge men into the frame and Land Mass grabs the mike from the interviewer and says

" Alright you roided up, beach bum, island idiot! You want to get involved in my business? Well why don't you get you and your musclebound ass out into the ring so I can show you who the true big man of NYCW is! You've got a Massive Problem on your hands now, jerkweed!"

Rating D

Ekuma shows a decent ability to work the mike, and Mass, while not great on his own, can hold up his end of the promo by using his usual menacing persona.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Ekuma.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/LandMass.jpg

Ekuma vs Land Mass

The two massive men wasted no time in going after each other. Land Mass still had the size advantage, although not as much as he usually did, but Ekuma quickly showed he was the much stronger of the two as the crowd gasped in amazement after he actually lifted up his 400+ lb opponent over his head and pressed him! After being dropped to the mat following that impressive display of strength, Land Mass rolled out of the ring and decided he had enough of Ekuma for the time being. Ekuma followed him out of the ring, and the two large monsters exchanged blows all the way up the entrance way, while the referee counted both men. The ref reached 10 as the two gigantic wrestlers continued battling outside the ring, and declared the match a draw.

In an extremely short match, Ekuma The Hawaiian Strong Man drew with Land Mass in 4:15 following a double count out.

Match Rating E

Given both mens lack of talent in the ring, I deliberately kept this very short and chaotic. I had no illusions this was going to be anything other than ugly, so I set it up to be a cooldown match before we went into the main matches for the evening. But the confrontation was necessary for storyline purposes and to establish the monsters rivalry with each other.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/NYCW-1.jpg

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/Whistler-1.jpg

Whistler is being interviewed backstage on who he thinks will win the Empire title match tonight and what his future plans in NYCW are. Whistler replies..

"Who do I think will win tonight? Well, Steve Flash is one of the best wrestlers inside the squared circle that has ever graced NYCW and he would make a worthy champion, but I kinda hope Bailey wins, cause I have a personal score to settle with old bowler head. You see , Bailey is the one that took the Empire title from me several months ago, and two months ago he cheated to keep me from getting it back! But Whistler isn't crying over spilt milk, oh no! I am working hard and training harder, getting myself ready to come back stronger than ever! So Flash, Bailey, whoever marches out of Manhattan with the Empire title, just know that the Whistler is coming for ya!"

Rating D+

Knowing that the behemoth battle before this was going to kill the crowd energy, I deliberately had the popular Whistler come out here now to start building them back up, and he does so quite well with an excellent promo.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/NYCW-1.jpg

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/BlackHatBailey.jpg

Empire Champion Black Hat Bailey is warming up backstage when Fern Hathaway comes up to ask him if he is worried about losing his match tonight against his challenger Steve Flash. Bailey grabs the mike and angrily replies...

"Worried?! Why should I be worried?! I am the NYCW Empire Champion! If anyone should be worried its Steve Flash! I'll admit he has some talent in the ring, but I was a headliner in a major promotion! I was a three time SWF North American Champion! I have dominated every promotion I have been in for three decades! Yeah, Flash held this belt before, but he never faced me for it. And I have beaten every other person who has challenged me forthis title ever since I came back here and won it! So , no little girl, I am not worried about Steve Flash beating me. In NYCW the guys in the black hats always win!"

Rating D+

Bailey does his usual professional job of hyping up the Empire title match and further energizes the crowd before the co-main event.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/NYCW_Empire.jpg

Steve Flash vs. Black Hat Bailey for the NYCW Empire Championship

Five decades of combined experience in the ring was on display as Flash and Bailey went through a clinic of mat wrestling as holds and counters were traded back and forth with rapid speed. But, not being able to keep pace with Flash on the ground Bailey soon resorted to cheap tactics to try to gain the upper hand. While he was able to interrupt Flash's momentum with a thumb to the eye or a rake of the back , he was never able to gain a lasting advantage as Flash always rallied back. Finally, a low blow delivered while the referee was distracted seem to have the match in Bailey's favor, and he set Flash up for the Bailey Breaker. But as Bailey went to position his opponent, the resourceful Flash delivered a Flash Bang out of nowhere and dropped the Champion on the mat!! Flash fell over Bailey and the referee counted one... two....three!! Steve Flash has won the NYCW Empire Championship!!

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Steve Flash defeated Black Hat Bailey in 10:01 by pinfall with a Flash Bang. Steve Flash wins the NYCW Empire title.

Match Rating D-

Starts with a bang, ends with a whimper. Now I know why these two hadn't faced each other before as they really just didn't work well together. There wasn't anything technically wrong, just the little communications between wrestlers that add to a match weren't there between those two. Hesitations, delays in counters, reversals looking forced, neither man was on the same page at all. This would have been okay for an opening match, but for a main title match between two of the headliners this was a major disappointment. Obviously a feud between these two isn't something we'd be able to headline our shows with.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/NYCW-1.jpg

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JackAvatar-1.jpg

David Mack is standing in the ring with a microphone and says...

" First off, let me say congratulations to Steve for winning the Empire title. It's good to see someone with honor and integrity holding that belt now. But be warned Steve, friend or no friend, I will be coming for that title as soon as I take care of some unfinished business. And that business is the Warrior of Darkness, Ota. Tonight Ota it will be you and me one on one, and there will be a winner this time. That winner will be me when I submit you right in the middle of this ring! I came back to NYCW because the great fans of the Tri-State area are the best in the country! I will not allow Ota's reign of darkness to come to pass. I will defeat him right here, in this very ring tonight!"

Suddenly the lights go out, the bigscreen lights up in red and black and the lights come back on with ....

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/FumihiroOta.jpg

The Warrior of Darkness, Ota, standing in the ring face to face with David Mack! Then a deep eerie disembodied voice speaks and says

" David Mack! You have been a worthy foe, but your opposition to the Warrior of Darkness ends tonight! The Warrior will force you to submit to his will and the last obstacle will be removed! NYCW beware! The Reign of Darkness begins tonight!"

As the voices fades a double chime is heard, like someone hitting a gong.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JackAvatar-1.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/FumihiroOta.jpg

David Mack vs. Ota, Warrior of Darkness in a Submission Match.

With no pinfalls or countouts or disqualifications both men changed up their usual game plan and instead tried to weaken a part of their opponent's body to set up a submission while simultaneously preventing it occuring to themselves. Mack was targeting Ota's neck for his Dragon Sleeper while Ota was focusing on Mack's left leg and knee. The action went back and forth with each man getting worked over by his opponent, but neither one able to hold a submission long enough to get the other to tap. The ending came about twenty minutes into the match when Mack made a miscalculation. Ota had removed a turnbuckle pad earlier in the match. Mack tried to whip Ota into that corner, but the wily ninja caught himself just before hitting the exposed steel. Mack tried to follow up with a high knee lift, but Ota rolled out of the way and Mack instead impacted his leg on the exposed turnbuckle, falling to the mat in obvious pain. Ota wasted no time in dragging Mack to the center of the ring and then locking on a figure four. Mack tried desperately to either reverse it or get to the ropes, but was unable to do either. finally after two minutes in the hold, Mack passed out from the pain. The referee lifted Mack's arm three times, and after it fell the third time, awarded the match to the Warrior of Darkness, Ota.

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Ota, Warrior of Darkness defeated David Mack in 22:40 by submission after blatantly cheating.

Match Rating C

This was a welcome result after the disappointment of the Empire title match as both Ota and I were on our game tonight, and I feel this was probably the best of our trio of matches. With Flash now holding the title, Ota is positioned as a prime challenger and hopefully we can spin a good feud between them.

OVERALL SHOW D+

Ota's and my match rescued what could have been a bad night as Vessey and Wright bombing as a team and Flash and Bailey not working well together really put a crimp in what should have been one of our best shows ever. Fortunately what most people remember is the main event and we delivered the best match of the three to send the fans home happy. We didn't draw as many people as the last couple months but still the feedback afterwards was that this was another awesome show for us and should continue to build our popularity in the region.

11 predictions this time around, and grats to BYU-14, Tigerkinney, BG Buff and Phantom Stranger for getting 5/5, you all win a private wrestling lesson with Stomper himself... for a modest $100 a hour fee. ( Told you he was a miser! :p ) Pretty much everyone called the two tag matches, it was about half and half on the main event and title matches, and a couple of people gave Sammy the Shark a chance.

Props to Oregano Jenson for nailing who the new worker was going to be in Jesse Christian.

Unfiortunately my big planned tag pairing of Vessey and Wright had zero chemistry together. Disappointing as they seemed like such a natural pairing and Bailey having bad chemistry with Flash kind of kills using him in any kind of feud with Flash for the belt. But that is always one of the fun parts of the game, having to constantly change plans on the fly. :)

I did too I thought it was quite interesting. What was the angle you made for it.

I borrowed something that James Casey mentioned in his diary, an 8 person entertainment angle where I rated the top four on entertainment, using the guys with the highest charisma on my roster, and then 4 guys who weren't rated ( I think, am at work and can't check to see if I set them all for entertainment) but were still on screen for the angle. I didn't get any improvement messages, but that was only the first time I had done it, and it did get a good grade. I will do it for a few shows more to see if it does make a difference or to see if I need to adjust something in the angle.

Done something similar in some games. So long as the top names are significantly above the others, you'll see radical improvement in a shortish number of shows.

Monday Afternoon, March 21st 2010 about a week after March into Manhattan.

“ David, can we talk for a minute?”

I was down at the Ministry with the boys getting some work in at the training area we had set up in the back. I turned around and said

“ Sure, what do you need?”

“ Here, take a look at this, it should explain everything.”

He handed me a thick sheet of papers that looked like a contract. A feeling of worry came over me until I looked over the paperwork and saw what it actually said

“ It’s a little early for April Fool’s Steve, but I give you marks on creativity!”

The person I was talking to was one of my best friends in the locker room, Steve Flash. He stated

“ It’s not a joke David, it’s real. Jeremy is going to make a public announcement in a couple days, but I wanted you to hear it from me first.”

“ You mean this is serious?! NOTBPW actually want you to be their head booker?!”

Realizing that this wasn’t an elaborate prank, I recalled that Dan Stone Sr had stepped down a few days ago and turned the company over to his son Jeremy. That was kind of a surprise as most people assumed Victoria would be taking over, but Jeremy is the eldest so it makes sense. But what didn’t make sense was them targeting Steve Flash for their booker!

“ Don’t misunderstand me Steve, I know you would do a hell of a job and stuff, but why would Jeremy Stone be calling you to do the booking for NOTBPW when he has his sister Victoria right there, or even Dan Jr?”

“ You know I used to work up there back in the mid 90’s and Jeremy was my tag partner. We even took the titles once. Anyway, from what he told me, Victoria willingly stepped down even though their father offered her the company first. She said she wanted to spend more time home with her daughter Lucy, now that she is approaching her teen years, and even though she didn’t confirm it, Jeremy thinks she and Sean may have another kid on the way. As for Dan Jr, Jeremy said he’s rather concentrate on wrestling right now, rather than dealing with all the backstage stuff. He knows that I prefer the same kind of wrestling he does, solid technical ring action without all the fluff and showiness of a CGC or SWF.

As for me, you and I both know that I only have a few years at best left in the ring, and I need to think about my future after that point. While it was surprising to me to be offered the spot, I’d be a fool not to take it! Not only would I get to work more than I can here, but I would be getting to work with some of the best in ring wrestlers in this business!”

“ It sounds great as hell, Steve, but I just gave you the Empire title! What about NYCW?”

“ I will still be around. I told Jeremy that I would only take the offer on the condition that I got to finish out my time here, so my deal there is a ppa deal. Besides they aren’t that far away from the Tri-State area, not like when you and I were flying back and forth from CGC shows. You will still see plenty of me here, although not as much as before.”

“ Well, I can’t say this isn’t a shock, but hell yeah! This is a huge opportunity! Of course you have to go for it! Besides, it isn’t like booking Dan Stone vs. Johnny Bloodstone, Jeremy Stone or Sean McFly is all that difficult. That may be the best place for you to hone your skills booking as that roster is very forgiving.

Let me take care of a couple things then we will go out and celebrate Steve Flash being the Head Booker of NOTBPW!!”

“ Thanks David, I am glad to see you are taking it well. And don’t worry, I won’t make you regret giving me the Empire title. See you outside in a few.”

With that Steve headed to the locker room to get changed, while I headed for my small office there to email Stomper and to call the scheduling office for the Ministry. I realized that NOTBPW held all their PPV’s on the exact same day we held our shows, and I was going to have to reschedule the rest of our calendar if I wanted to have my Empire Champion available.

March definitely had several events which are sure to shake the wrestling world as the ripples spread outward from TCW expanding their operations and the reigns of management of NOTBPW transitioning from Dan Stone Sr to his his son Jeremy Stone. I know we have already felt some effects here in NYCW with Flash being the new booker for NOTBPW. Elsewhere in the wrestling world, the news for March 2010 was …..

NEWS

  • TCW have continued their chase of their rivals SWF, and answered SWF’s expansion with one of their own as they are now classified as an International promotion.
  • Deep Impact Wrestling in Australia has risen from a local promotion to one now classified as Small.
  • Jeremy Stone has taken over ownership from his father, Dan Stone Sr, who has retired from the business, and his first act as new owner is to tap NYCW’s Steve Flash as his new head booker, instead of his sister Victoria.
  • UK’s National School of Wrestling had its first graduation class and it consisted of all arounder Leigh Burton, small cruiserweight Joe Simpson, the enormous 465lb super heavyweight War Machine, cruiserweight Ricky Storm and Middleweight Brawler Dwayne Dark. All but Dark were quickly offered contracts by 21CW.
  • Mighty Mo is the latest graduate of the TCW School of Pro Wrestling. Possessed of good charisma, fantastic athleticism and a great muscular look, TCW quickly signed him to the main roster.
  • Nighthawk, an Australian version of Jim Force, enters the pro ranks in his country. Like his inspiration, he is a charismatic brawler, and not much else. Still, that was enough for Force to have a big career, and it may be enough for Nighthawk as well.
  • 2nd gen Luchador, Sabra Man Jr, son of the original Israeli import Sabra Man, has entered the lucha world in Mexico. He is different from the usual luchador in that he has solid mat skills but lacks the usual high flying skillset. He also lacks charisma but does have solid fundamentals, and with a lot of work could carve out a solid career.
  • Young North Carolinian Jared Johnson, a 19 yr old possessed of good charisma and ring skills and far better than normal mat skills for someone his age. While Stomper wants no more additions to the roster for now, if he isn’t snapped up by someone else in the future, he is definitely on our radar.
  • ACPW’s Mario da Silva landed badly during a move in one of his matches, and the doctors have diagnosed a misaligned spinal column, sidelining the youngster for 3 months.
  • ROF’s Johnny Highspot and announcer Justin Blackham have formed a friendship after Highspot put over Blackham’s announcing skills on a local radio show.
  • SWF continue their expansion as they have inked a PPV deal with PPV Japan to air their events overseas.

Champagne Lover, Pablo Rodriguez and Ultimate Phoenix win the SOTBPW Trios title from Los Sickness and Verdugo Estupendo.

That might be the best looking Trios team I've seen thrown together by the computer. Planning around Flash will be cool...'08 he seemed to be a guy to go wherever you told him to go. Now he has booking talent, won't go to SWF because of the risque...he's got the personality I almost always envisioned of him. Can't wait for the next event.

Wednesday April 3rd 2010 Stomper’s Office

With Stomper doing SWF shows as a road agent now, our usual monthly review meeting was a few days late. As usual he didn’t bother to read the word doc files I emailed him after figuring the financial and wanted to hear about money in person. He stated…

“ So how did we do last month kid? It looked like you had everyone working out there on the last show.”

I replied …

“ Only way they are going to get better is to get out there and work. Besides, it keeps the people happy and it helps to avoid problems in the locker room. But don’t worry, even using everyone and having a smaller audience than the month before, we still cleared over $1200 profit.”

“ Good, as long as you are keeping us in the black. Speaking of which, I got a call from PSW yesterday. They want me to do some road agenting for them as well.”

“ PSW!? You won’t even let me do a working agreement with them to trade some talent, yet you are going to road agent their shows? Do you plan to actually work at NYCW anymore?”

“ Watch your mouth kid! This is still my company! I am not abandoning NYCW. Fact is that PSW hold their shows here every month as well, so I don’t even have to travel to work for them. Also, I need to think about my golden years. We aren’t exactly pulling in millions of dollars here kid, and I need to get as much money together as I can to ease my retirement. This is a lousy economy you know. “

“ All right Stomper, calm down. I guess it is just hitting me a little hard what with you gone most of the time to SWF and now Steve up in Canada most of the week for NOTBPW. It just feels like I am kind of getting abandoned here. I came back to be with the people I consider family, but now you guys are off doing other stuff.”

“ Get over it kid! This isn’t the Waltons, this is professional wrestling! Change and being in different promotions is part of the business. If you are standing still in this industry then you are falling behind.

I trust you to hold things down here. You don’t need me looking over your shoulder every minute. Just do your best to make our shows the best you can and it will all work out. Speaking of which, have you got Spring Showdown figured out yet? “

“ For the most part. I did have to move the show back a day so that Flash could be here, but the Ministry didn’t have any problems with me changing dates. I just have to check a couple travel arrangements and then I will have the final card to you by the end of the day.”

“ Ok kid, get to it. See you later.”

From the NYCW Website….

NYCW MARCH INTO MANHATTAN saw the crowning of a new NYCW Empire Champion, Steve Flash! But that wasn’t the only thing to happen that night as former SCCW Champion Jesse Christian made his return to wrestling after saving former SCCW ‘er Elijah Harris from a brutal attack by Larry Vessey and Lee Wright. And in our main event, the Warrior of Darkness, Ota, took advantage of opportunity to beat David Mack, who passed out from pain in a figure four after he refused to tap out. Also the tag team champions got a win over rivals Old School Principals, evening them up at one win apiece, and Honest Frank defeated Tri-State Champion Sammy the Shark in a non title match.

All of this sets the stage for NYCW SPRING SHOWDOWN where the new Empire Champion will make his first title defense and others will compete to advance their challenges for both the Empire and Tri-State titles. The lineup for NYCW SPRING SHOWDOWN includes…..

Jesse Christian VS Lee Wright

Jesse Christian made a surprising return after a 5 year absence, and immediately made an impact by coming to the rescue of his former fellow SCCW’er Elijah Harris as he was being assaulted by Lee Wright and his tag partner Larry Vessey. Now Wright has challenged Christian one on one to teach the newest addition to the NYCW roster not to interfere in his business. Christian was a champion and dominant wrestler in SCCW, but will a 5 year layoff be too much to overcome when faced with the always dangerous Lee Wright?

Dazzling Dave Diamond VS Rick Sanders

Former Champions face off to determine who makes the next challenge to current champion Sammy the Shark for the Tri-State title. Sanders has the edge in experience, but Triple D is motivated to regain the title he lost to Sammy 6 months ago. Who will emerge victorious to become the #1 contender?

Whistler VS Honest Frank

Both men are multiple time former Empire Champions and two of the biggest names in NYCW over the past 5 years. Each is looking to put together a string of victories to get back into the title picture, and a high profile victory here would be enough to put the winner’s name near the top of the list for a title shot.

http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/JackAvatar-1.jpg VS http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n329/Dragonmack/BlackHatBailey.jpg

David Mack VS Black Hat Bailey

Both men are coming off a devastating loss at March into Manhattan and both men are looking to rebound with a big win to get into the Empire title hunt. Plus these two have history going back three years. Black Hat Bailey was the first person David Mack ever wrestled in NYCW, but circumstances prevented them from determining conclusively who was the better man. Now they look to answer that question as they face off again for the first time in three years.

Steve Flash © VS Ota, The Warrior of Darkness for the NYCW Empire Championship.

Steve Flash regained the NYCW Empire Championship in a hard fought battle, but he gets no time to rest on his laurels as he has to defend his newly won title against the devious and dastardly warrior of darkness, Ota. Ota catapulted himself to #1 contender by forcing his long time rival David Mack to pass out in a vicious submission lock and seeks to ride that momentum to an Empire title victory and his own Reign of Darkness.

Jesse Christian VS Lee Wright

New guy picks up the win even though I don't like it. I've seen C and C+ matches out of Lee against Flash at this point in my NYCW games and for a promotion like NYCW that's a gold mine.

Dazzling Dave Diamond VS Rick Sanders

Again i dislike sanders but his heel team is really the only team to be able to go against The Ring Generals.

Whistler VS Honest Frank

Whistler will retire soon and as much as I hate Honest Frank that makes him the youngster winner of this match up.

David Mack VS Black Hat Bailey

Bailey will be the next to go up against Flash.

Steve Flash © VS Ota, The Warrior of Darkness for the NYCW Empire Championship.

Steve Flash for a 1 year+ reign as champ. (Have we discussed how much I love flash yet)

Jesse Christian VS Lee Wright

The ex SCCW man gets the win on his debut, Wright really IS at that age where he should be putting others over.

Dazzling Dave Diamond VS Rick Sanders

I'll go against the grain here and say that Sanders picks up the win here, his tag feud (alongside Masked Mauler) with the Ring Generals can go on the backburner for a little bit.

Whistler VS Honest Frank

Frank by nefarious means (I'm thinking Brass Knuckles), I can see this leading to a progam between the two, that will keep then occupied for a few months.

David Mack VS Black Hat Bailey

The phasing out of old man Bailey from the main event scene continues

Steve Flash © VS Ota, The Warrior of Darkness for the NYCW Empire Championship.

Flash may have other commitments now but I can't see you hot-shotting the belt over to Ota in Flash's first defence.
