Gemmei Oonishi(YL) vs. Kuniko Matsura(YL) vs. Umeko Hotta

I mark so hard for the oldster in a one-last-title-run thing. And I've really come to like Umeko. That and her savy to me is 'unbeatable'. So I'm betting she wins this, but that the other two actually learn something. In fact, with Umeko's personal interest... I could see Umeko becoming a manager of sorts for them, in a real-wrestling sense. In fact, should you start doing angles again, I could see this...

Shiori Jippensha vs. Ultimate Devastator Lemons

Shiori's antics really surprised me. I had no idea she could be a trouble-maker. I learn something new every day.

That said, Shiori is being punished. So I highly doubt she will win. Besides. I like the Lemons. They've grown on me, and I'm disappointed to have seen them loose their title. This may well be the begining of their growth, and eventual return.

Etsuko Arihyoshi(YL) vs. Tomoko Nagatsuka vs. Yuma Maruya

Sorry. I mark for Yuma. Don't know why, I just do.

Ginko Kuroda vs. Principessa vs. Yori Toyoshima

Not time for Principessa yet, I'm thinking. Like Amber, she needs more dues to pay. And I'm not entirely sure Ginko is on the way anywhere but down, despite my liking her 'personally'. So...

Ikuko Temko vs. Kinuye Mushashibo

Temko for the win. Why? Just a feeling...

Daughters of Wirlocity vs. Shojo Beatdown

Shojo is just begining their roll. Would be a shock to see it stopped before even really getting started, but shocking is something that wrestling is all about.

Dragon Assassin vs. Otsune Tsumura

The Dragon may be making minor mistakes, but it's nothing I feel will cost her matches.

Huntress Makiko vs. Kiko Sakakibara

The Huntress is on her way up, and she is on the hunt. And a hunter seldom misses.

Megumi Nakajima/Raku Makuda vs. DEVIL Karube/Saori Nakadan

This is "turning serious". And DEVIL is professional enough to go along with Saori's wanting to straighten the mess out. Working together like that, they can't loose. Then again, I can also see all sorts of shenanigans with this match...

Gemmei Oonishi(YL) vs. Kuniko Matsura(YL) vs. Umeko Hotta

Obv pick is obv.

Shiori Jippensha vs. Ultimate Devastator Lemons

They will always be the tag team champions of my heart.

Etsuko Arihyoshi(YL) vs. Tomoko Nagatsuka vs. Yuma Maruya

Should be a title contender.

Ginko Kuroda vs. Principessa vs. Yori Toyoshima

That's a tough one.

Ikuko Temko vs. Kinuye Mushashibo

Kinuye is good once built up, though.

Daughters of Wirlocity vs. Shojo Beatdown

Gotta push em.

Dragon Assassin vs. Otsune Tsumura

Should be no surprise that the Dragon is the number one prospect in Joshi.

Huntress Makiko vs. Kiko Sakakibara

I'm seeing a potentially good storyline here...

Megumi Nakajima/Raku Makuda vs. DEVIL Karube/Saori Nakadan

Adore the serious writing in this diary. I've been avoiding it because I didn't really like the title for some reason, but I regret it now!

Trying to furiously catch up so I can say something more meaningful. :(

"Firefly"

*They all had their nicknames, earned over time... earned over actions or even appearances. But every nickname had an anchor in the reality of that person. Every nickname had both positive and negative conintations.*

"DEVIL"

*A case in point. She could play any game upon the Joshi Puroresu stage. She was the only liscensed tour guide of all seven levels of hell if pushed. Or she could be the ther side with cleverness, energy and all the daring of the world, the fans adored her that way and probably the other as well.*

"Wildfire, The Butterfly."

*The names would go on and on if allowed, everyone had one if not two. But only one would be called today... only one would be remembered in the second week of September.*

"The Lizard Queen."

*A name that conjured up images that matched Sakurako Kagawa's image. Her weathered skin and cold blue lips mixed with equal fashion and cool glass eyes? She looked like the Lizard Queen walking, maybe that was why the name stuck to her all these years. But that was not the reason she was given that name at all as the doors of the hall flung open.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingChiyeko.jpg

"Good evening, Kagawa-san."

*Ignored as if non-existent. Her feet kept an authoritative rhythm as conversations stopped and people shifted out of her steady path. Even with her eyes obscured by shaded lenses, they cut precise looks that recorded and judged without the taint of friendship and years shared. This was the other side of the coin tonight. This was the woman who, at the age of 40, had destroyed JWW along with every other Joshi Puroresu company in the entire nation. Now at 54 years old? She was at the top of her game. A game that required her to be an ice cold witch more times than not. But only like others... she enjoyed it somewhere deep inside. It made her blood move. It kept her young.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWnews/SakurakoKagawa.jpg

"Kit!"

*Kit read the face, and her usual easy going smile slipped from her face as she got to her feet, straight.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingKitHatoyama.jpg

"Boss?"

*The voice held nothing of the emotion inside of her, but that made it all the more cutting as she asked.*

"Where. Is. Yuu?"

*Kit felt a wave of selfish relief at the mention of Yuu's name. She knew the Lizard Queen as well as anyone, and she did not want to be on her mind when it was tuned like this.*

"She's at the door."

*Kit stupidly pointed towards the door, and Kagawa's eyes drilled their million holes until Kit lowered her hand.*

"Kit, I want her in front of me the second this show is done. The. Second."

*The Lizard Queen walked by Kit without a look back. She did not need to look back. She knew everyone was reading her loud and clear tonight. 'The Oracle'? That overly sensitive, brilliant and poetic mess? She was going to get a re-introduction to reality, and The Lizard Queen would be her most capable guide. Yuu's only momentary reprieve were that her precious lines were about to collide.*

A lot of talking and insults from the veteran to her chosen opponents. Her low opinion of them accentuated physically with slaps to the face, pinched cheeks and blatant choke/lectures to the young generation. This would spark and offensive flurry only to be snuffed out by wile. Kuniko put the most hurt on Umeko with a couple of near falls, causing Umeko to bail out of the ring. UDL are in good spirits as they make their way to the ring and as usual the fans catch on their fun spirit as well. Shiori looks extremely unhappy but is obviously calculating some way to turn this punishment to her advantage. She decides keeping the Lemons out of the ring is the best way to go. The crowd really turned on her for her short run trickery, but when the Lemons finally made it into the ring? The momentum snapped brittle. Fujin's Amazing Lemon Press! A good mix of styles in the ring that made for nice match. But Yuma is on a whole different level than her two contenders. Tomoko put up the most fight, and carried a lot of the 'bad girl' offense. In the end it was Etusko who experienced her first Yuma Special up close and personal. Tomoko added a few cheap boot shots to make it clear that she didn't lose, Etsuko did. A match that somebody has to win, and a good chance to push some merchandise as people stretch their legs. The action was fast paced and pushed by the high flying of Yori 'The Firefly' Toyoshima. This match had Championship expectations attached to it as both women are solid veterans looking to break out of tag teams and establish themselves as title contenders. While there was nothing technically wrong with the match, with the 20 minutes they had they could have delivered more. Once again it seems to fall on Huntress' shoulders as she has under delivered more times than not this year.</span></p><p><span style="color:#630192;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#630192;">

Megumi Nakajima/Raku Makuda vs. DEVIL Karube/Saori Nakadan</span></span></span></p><p><span style="color:#630192;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#630192;">

Tonight's Main Event looked awesome on paper with all the drama swirling around the World Title. While the replacement of Shiori was disappointing, I think Raku freshens things up with her dangerous form of violence. The match started hot with DEVIL and Saori clearing the ring as soon as the bell rang. The stood together as Megumi and Raku put their heads together for ideas. The crowd cheered for DEVIL and Saori as they motioned for Megumi and Raku to get back in the ring. The referee finally exerted his control and got everyone where they needed to be.</span></p><p><span style="color:#630192;">

A lot of back and forth action with Megumi carrying her team and looking crisp while doing it. DEVIL and Saori's talent levels are pretty steep, but the youth of the others slowly began to even things out. Swanton on Saori! But DEVIL makes the easy save, and lariats Raku over the top rope. But she manages to tag Megumi on the way out of our lives. Double hip-toss by DEVIL and Saori, as DEVIL begins to direct traffic. They both send Megumi hard into the far turnbuckle. </span><span style="color:#630192;"><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Nakadan Spike to DEVIL! Out of nowhere!</span></strong></span><span style="color:#630192;"> She ate all of it on the blindside and she is down. Raku climbs the top rope from the outside, and the crowd is spicy hot. </span><span style="color:#630192;"><strong>Swanton Bomb on DEVIL!</strong></span><span style="color:#630192;"> The referee is angrier than the crowd as he tried to figure out what is going on. Megumi, the only legal woman left standing, staggers out of the corner and drags up DEVIL by the back of the hair. She hooks the arms behind DEVIL and we all know what's next as Saori is already half way up the ramp and yelling at the crowd all the way home. </span><span style="color:#630192;"><strong>Nakajima Straight Jacket!</strong></span><span style="color:#630192;"> That's all.</span></p><p><span style="color:#630192;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#630192;">

*As the crowd did filter and lights did rise, Yuu made her way to the rented office of the hall. The Lizard Queen sat behind a desk in the only chair available. An old trick but effective as the atmosphere was set that simply.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWnews/SakurakoKagawa.jpg

"The Oracle? That is what my roster is calling you now, Yuu. Is that the way you see yourself? Some mystical tea leaf reader or fortune teller? Is that who I trusted my company to, Yuu? Are you falling into the most obvious trap our profession offers? Are you believing the hype? You can answer any one of these questions at any time."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingYuu.jpg

"It is not of belief, Kagawa-san. It is only a way of looking with the eyes. It is a tool of focus and sight. It helps me to-"

"To see the future filled with your poetic nonsense, Yuu?"

"To... do the job that is mine, Kagawa-san."

"Your job, Yuu? I wonder sometimes if you truly understand what your job is, let alone if you are actually capable of it. How much did tonight's show cost?"

*Yuu blinked only once, and tilted her head slightly as if she did not quite understand.*

"What were the travel expenses then? Do you know that?"

"It is money, no? Your business blood... I do not hide from that sight. We profit, no?"

"Yes, we profit Yuu. Because you are not an idiot. You feed me just enough to turn me away, or so you think. The problem is Yuu, I am bottomless when it comes to profit and I never turn away for long. I know exactly what you are doing. Do you?"

*Yuu did not blink when she should have. The Lizard Queen was a razor tonight and her arsenal too precise. A good hit indeed, but Yuu raised her eyes to meet. The blue lips curled slightly.*

"You want more, Yuu? Don't worry I have it. How about something closer to that personalized heart of yours then, hmm? All these Young Lions littering my roster, when will they start to return on my generous salary investment? Gemmei? Etsuko? Amber? Any one of these sparkly little things would do. A general time frame would suffice."

"Fuyuko has graduated and her future is that of the limitless."

"Fuyuko? You can't stand her and her future is the least stable of all. But I will give her to you. That is one. One young lion ready to work. And two?"

*The lack of emotion, one way or another, was the uncomfortable aspect of this meeting of facts and lines. Yuu saw now spark in the eyes of The Lizard Queen, just flat and endless black. Slowly she leaned down and placed a collection of words, glass and wood upon the desk, centered.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/DOTMAward.jpg

"You see Yuu? This is what has me confused. Why on this Planet Earth would that den of con artists, thieves and pirates you call a Booker's Guild send you this award for your performance? Why, when my 5SSW has dropped in exposure under your watch?!"

*The Lizard Queen tossed a stack of papers with enough numbers to blind most permanently. But they added up to one thing in the very end, 5SSW's exposure had slipped so far that they were now a small company again. Yuu was blindsided like DEVIL had been earlier, the only difference being Yuu had been blindsided by herself. To make matters even worse, as Yuu studied the numbers, they had slipped in their home region. Yuu could not have booked a more perfectly formed disaster. She did not look up.*

"Kinki, our heart of-"

"Enough, Yuu. Your prattle is annoying me today like no other day. Most people would say that this is my fault for leaving you in complete control. That it is my responsibility in the end."

*The Lizard Queen found her complete focus.*

"Those people are wrong, Yuu. You always focus on the new and the young. Hokkaido drove you to the brink. Kanto filled your head while Kinki slipped away unnoticed. No, this is your fault, and you are going to fix it. You are going to fix all of it by years end. Or I hand 'The Book' to Ogiwara."

*Yuu had a flash of defiance behind her own eyes, she hated being lectured in any manner. She was no longer the young woman of their first run together. But she hated it even more because the Lizard Queen was right, but her vision was clouded thin with the blue ice of her being. Ignoring all that good Yuu had done for their future, traded for the immediate disaster of the now.*

"Get this off of this desk. Then get it and you out of my sight, Yuu. I've had enough today."

*Yuu took her diamond trophy, which felt too heavy and did just as she was told. Her mind now littered with a thousand scattered lines like after a vicious storm. Only one line remained like an illuminated thread. Yuu read it aloud.*

"Not today but one? You will go too far again, it is your very breath of breathing. It is what you exhale, Kagawa-san. You do not grow older... I do."

*The Oracle spoke from far away, turning to leave.*

"You and I will become the very best of the enemies, in times that are winding their ways."

*The Lizard Queen's lips curled tight at the prospect because she knew that was always a danger the longer they worked together. But her lips also laced with anger now for the first time, because Yuu did not know when to shut up and leave. But when she looked up to reply, Yuu was gone. Her footsteps echoed down the hall.*

5 Star Supreme Wrestling have fallen to Small size.

The Honeymoon seems to be officially over for Yuu Onuki and 5SSW with the minor bombshell that 5SSW has lost some of its steam. The report couldn't have come at a worse time for Ms. Onuki. Not only had she been given the keys to the Lizard Queen's castle, but she had also just been presented an award by her peers in the Booker's Guild. While sources inside the rather close knit company are hard to come by, several fans did see the Lizard Queen return just before the start of the last show. " Not happy" was the general consensus of those that saw her briefly.

This has to be about as bad as it could get for Yuu Onuki. It is no secret that 5SSW's main goal this year has been growth and expansion. To start a move in the opposite direction in September? "Not happy"? Yes, because that is just not good. With Yuu's failure to secure a TV or PPV deal of any kind. It will all come down to the expansion tours in Kanto and Hokkaido. If they did the job, 5SSW could conceivably recover before the year's end. If not? 5SSW could be going back where they started as they try to repair the holes in their home territory.

5SSW Dance With Legend Tour Results

Held: Tuesday, Week 2, September 2010

Location: Ibaraki Community Hall (Kanto)

Attendance: 611

Final Rating: C-

The bombshell had not hit until the show was in the books, and it showed in another solid production. The match of the night was definitely the Main Event where Saori Nakadan turned on her tag team partner DEVIL and the fans of 5SSW with a single Nakadan Spike. We can only hope that the business side of things does not break Yuu's booking stream. Because things are interesting as always.

Noodleshop: First it is a thing that is !thank you! for the DOTM in May. As I did say in the collection of words before... I never did expect to win in a million years + 3. Joshi Puro is such a weird and little niche of things, so thank you for the grandest support.

I'm melting. I'm melting! No? Yes? No, it is I shrinking. I was shocked with an open mouth. It is wonderful for the story I think. But I fear for my job security in the most general ways.

A good event is week 2. Nobody saw Saori do her turning upon? I think it was a good surprise with small hints before it... it's like string you follow. Huntress Makiko is testing my eternal adoration... Yay for Yuma. Why can't I help Ginko, she has a coolness nickname! It must be something in her eyes.

Congratulations on your DOTM win! :D May the lines all point to continued joshimpeccability! ;)

Thank you and all for the everything. It is the 5SSW Box Set for you and all, I am thinking.

Adore the serious writing in this diary. I've been avoiding it because I didn't really like the title for some reason, but I regret it now!

Trying to furiously catch up so I can say something more meaningful. :(

Some days I truly do the feeling that the title is the best part. :D Thank you for the compliment of words, it is great meaning. :)

Can't see your data, of course, but I like Hyde's mneumonic and I'll put my own twist on it - Kanto + Kinki = Key to success. Expansion tours are good, but you probably need a little more build in your home regions so that you have the cushion to spend a tour in the far north or south without losing too much ground.

How are you doing in regional battles? That may be part of the attrition you're experiencing too.

Maybe I'm 'out there' but I thought the Hokkaido sojourn was good. It was different. It was well outside the proverbial box. Was it done for too long a stretch? Apparently. But I'd never fault someone for trying something new. Personally, I would've done a more traditional tour moving into the 'dead' areas (read: all areas other than Kanto and Kinki) in alternating fashion or perhaps Kinki as a base with Hokkaido as the alternating site and 'big' shows in Kanto. Bottom line is, in Japan, you need strong popularity in two areas to get a TV deal. Whether it's Kinki & Hokkaido or Kinki & Kanto doesn't matter too much.

Let the Lizard Queen fume. Nothing worth having comes easy and rising from the ashes means somebody's going to get singed on occasion. Yuu didn't base the entire promotion's fortunes around three workers, largely to the exclusion of everyone else. Maybe if the Lizard Queen had exercised a bit more foresight, 5 Star would be more akin to Google than Enron.

/nod. It's one of those areas where the game function deviates from the real world for playability purposes, but from a narrative standpoint it made a lot of sense. Didn't mean anything as a knock, I just want to see Yuu keep her job! :) I don't think she's in any immediate danger if she can shore up her home base, though.

If there's a need to build up those folks in need of a pop boost to help them break out, perhaps bring in Suzue Katayama for a tour - she's got solid pop and decent skills with which to put over folks.

*Yuu was under much pressure of kind that was different. Her motivation was final, simple and clear. The eyes of the Lizard Queen upon her. Her voice still echo of the raking just nights before. She would never forget the combination. Her prophecy would come true, some day as she had said.*

"Everyone has a future, yes?"

*For the now, the lines branched into two large rivers cutting the path of 5SSW. She could return to Kinki and repair with the immediate. She could end the tour there. It was the most simple solution. It was the clearest of lines to where they all should be. But it was the eyes of the Lizard Queen again... it was admitting Yuu had done wrong. Yuu was not ready to admit that. Her lines stretched long into time.*

"I will show your eyes, Lizard Queen."

*Yuu picked up the phone and made the final confirmation their show in Kanto. This line was narrow and dangerous to take. But she would gamble on herself and the history... she would play against the short sight. The final poster draft spread across the table like a game board. The move was made and done.*

Ikuko Temko vs. Principessa

Not a good tour for Principessa as the Destroyer takes care of business.

Gemmei Oonishi(YL) vs. Kuniko Matsura(YL) vs. Umeko Hotta

Umeko continues to teach the younger generation the lessons of true pain

Dragon Assassin/Saori Nakadan vs. Ultimate Devastator Lemons

Dragon and Saori are too focused on themselves to overcome a true team

Otsune Tsumura vs. Shiori Jippensa

With the message received, a slightly more humble Shiori begins to climb back into prominence for the next tour

Amber Allen(YL) vs. Tomoko Nagatsuka

Allen may become a fixture for the future, but for now she is putting in the time.

Dragonmack's Fan Choice:

Chitose Ariwara vs. Fuyuko Higa

Chitose flutters on the wings of the butterfly, but Higa delights in pulling the wings off.

Huntress Makiko vs. Yuma Maruya

Yuma is marking time till she inevitably gets back in the title hunt

Kiko Sakakibara vs. Megumi Nakajima

Megumi is not one to be distracted by flashy colors.

DEVIL Karube vs. Raku Makuda

With no worry of another partner betrayal, DEVIL can get back to doing what she does best regardless of whether the fans cheer or not, destroying her opponents

To be honest, I'm shocked Temko hasn't been released yet. I can't believe her contract will be renewed.

And Remi, add me to the Meg fan club. Had a match with her using the BCG women's division, putting her over Dragon Assassin and Gorgon which rated in the low 50's. Her pop jumped TEN POINTS.

I'm afraid to put her on TV right now because she'd leave her (intended) tag team partner way (WAY) behind. She is scary good and eventually, she'll be QAW World champion. :)
