This article is painful to read. Lots of respect for Gall. He honestly looked like some punk kid to me, but it seems he's a lot more mature than Punk is. It shows that you can train hard for 2 years and still don't know the first thing about the sport until you've been up there, no matter how many times you can watch movies of guys making the same mistakes.

Last I checked its about putting people in seats. Punk put people in seats not Gall.

I don't believe that.

I think the MMA fans and the WWE fans are a bit different.

I watched the show, and the fact the crowd was SO outspoken against most of the matches tells me that they were MMA fans, not just there to see Punk.

I don't think he put asses in the seats, I do think he got them PPV money they normally wouldn't have gotten...but it was embarrassing

Punk's purse is $500k. Gall gets $30k. Well, I bet that money sure helped his "courage". I kid, a little, but seriously, Punk isn't a hero.

At the end of the day, Punk was put in the position he was in on the UFC card and advertised heavily because he brings a fan base that brings in a large crowd. Because of that crowd and the chance at making a bunch of money UFC took the chance. If he went to say idk take up table tennis and compete he would still be billed heavily because he has built a name for himself. You can't discredit him for building his brand.

But it's a brand that certainly didn't carry over. Who knows, maybe he would be more than a "special attraction" playing table tennis.

**what I mean by "didn't carry over" - Of course, he has name value. No one is disputing that. But his name value won't get him past this first fight. With that performance, he should be done. But then again, with the loser's mentality of "just stepping in the cage is a win"...so wait, you're 1-1 now? He had a 'dream' of fighting and he completed it. Good for him. I have respect for him getting in there. But what now? With that performance, he's not going to add much to the ratings going forward. He's an old, skinny dude who has minimal training in this. Any fight in the UFC he takes next will likely be the same result, or worse.

No doubt but we're talking strictly on the payday aspect here. His brand won't carry over any more now than it could have but there's no point getting gripe about his paycheck considering the obvious reason why he was paid this much.

His name carried him enough to have a UFC PPV debut, which is that much already. Many people are disputing he probably shouldn't even have made it there for his first contest, and though I'm a fan of Punk I wouldn't dispute that notion

Thought Bisping fought a very intelligent fight, lost the first round and probably just lost the second but won rounds 3,4 and 5. More active and considering he was knocked down twice he showed great heart to keep going. Must admit I was on the edge of my seat most of the fight thinking one more good hit from Hendo and that's it. On the whole Bisping deserved it.

So, Alexa grasso won. Congratulations to Jo Clark for not throwing the towel at the end of the first round because of her vision.

Alexa was very impressive, but she was more fighting not to lose, but hey, it's her first fight in the UFC, big pressure on her, so it's OK.

Ferguson was impressive. That Salsa..

It was a nice event. Has me contemplating to take up UFC Fight Pass but there's just too many hurdles. The US time zone keeping me from watching it live and getting spoiled (it's not easy not to unless I completely shield me from social media), and already having the WWE membership and other hobbies. Are there Europeans out here that shell out the €'s for UFC PPV's (and PPV's in general)? In my region there's practically no culture for PPV's so I doubt anybody at all does it. I did buy a lot of WWE DVD's back in the day but there's a big difference given the replayability. WWE is smart to lure us in with the Network, but UFC's not quite there yet (for obvious reasons).

The Lamas fight was nice to watch but I'll articulate the same concern that the commentators had: did the loser really try that hard to lose the weight? He seemed fine given the altitude. As for altitude: I was thinking of suggesting it for the next WMMA game but it will probably be way too complex to implement succesfully, or Adam would almost have to overhaul a big part of the game.

Too bad Dos Anjos was hit with that eye poke. One can only wonder what the impact was on his fight. Dos Anjos didn't want to make any excuses because he knows the backlash they get on social media, but it could've been a big factor. Props to Ferguson for having the balls to hit him with the exact same combination after being taunted after Dos Anjos stopped the first. But the diversity of offense... wow.

Sanchez showed incredible tenacity with that cage escape in r2. Shows what he hero he is (a word which, ironically, is called "held" in my language <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />).

Loved to see Grasso too but was surprised to see it was placed on the main card. If I was a betting man I'd probably have bet a lot on her taking the decision victory as it was almost written in the stars. I know she has a lot of quick stoppages but she doesn't seem to have loads of power in her limbs. I did bet wrong on almost all other fights though so I'm thankfully not a betting man. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> (though Lamas almost lost and I at least got Diego right). I know some people here speak highly of Clark for whatever reason, but she was set up to win, though Alexa looked somewhat impressive with her win.

I'm in the middle... Was that 205 presser more entertaining than RAW? Probably.

Also confused how much of a work it is. Did they instruct McGregor to do what he did? It's very much a possibility, but who cares really?

edit: Hilarious...
