Wow angels win offseason of overhypeness. I hope they can still add pieces because just like the marlins you had weakness in other area's.

This offseason of morons, gm of cards should be looked at and some should say (what were you thinking). A man who has never said or done anything retarded to hurt you, has respected the org to all ends. He was the team leader and a fan favorite and you played with him. So go albert for getting the pay day you deserved. You'll probably destroy the over bloated angels, not because you can't play but beacuse 25 mil to one player is like (wtf). I'm not hating on you and I respect the fact that after 3 mvp, 2 world series rings, 3 world series apperances, and the fact you are going to be able to play in the AL as long as you want with the DH position. You wil destroy every offsive record while you are apart of the.... Angels. I don't think you hurt your cred, I think you showed players we don't have to take this we might not pay you appoarch. Lebron james could have had the franchise, cards were slow poking it.

Now unlike the marlins who probably played the smart route last year by not spending money, were able to go through one last season of development to see what you had. You knew who was a free agent so why spend money on last years some what over bloated class. You decide to go after your weakness with money. Now you were willing to give albert 10 years at over 200, would you finally offer prince a contract. What albert got is going to make prince (just as talented of a hitter) want 200 mill and I truly believe he is worth it over 10 years. You put weight clauses in that thing and you make a damn good lineup for your future.

Cubs... Cubs!!! You need someone. I know you are screwed with money, but you take a hit to get some offense. Now I truly believe prince was the guy you want and you have been talking the whole time, but its now time to get serious.

Also I'm not a fan of any of these teams, I just think the cards were dumb for how they handled this. The colts were never going to let manning leave and he wasn't going to leave. He just wanted a fair deal and knew it would happen. Albert didn't want the franchise, he just wanted a fair deal and you screwed yourselves with the holliday deal. You let one of the greatest living baseball players just walk away from your franchise because you were playing cute. We will now get to see albert break records in a red, yellow, and white colors, only its in cali instead of St. Louis

If you think his contract will "destroy" the Angels, why are you blaming the Cardinals for not matching it?

I don't blame the Cardinals for not meeting that number, nor do I blame them for allowing him to hit the market in the first place. I think Albert and his agent wanted to hit the free agent market and see what he could get, and would not have resigned early unless St. Louis broke the bank. He got what he wanted. Good for him. With that kind of deal at almost 32, he's better off in the AL anyway.

Well I am not sure anybody deserves that kind of contract, especially with unemployment at the levels that it is currently at. I guess in the context of these ridiculous contracts that pro athletes make, he did deserve it.

Also, :D at the Marlins for taking the citizens of Miami-Dade County to the cleaners on that stadium deal. Yeah they are so poor they can't afford to pay for a new stadium, yet they go out and toss their money around like it is nothing. They should probably change their name to the Miami Con-Artists.

I don't know how many times I've had to hear the athlete's get paid too much speech in the last couple of days from people. While I agree that it's not fair that there is such a discrepancy between the pay of people like teachers and police/firemen and athletes, I think my college economics teacher put it best.

Sure I think I should get paid like Albert Pujols, and maybe that day will come when 50,000 people shell out tons of money for 162 days to see me talk about supply and demand. While he's got the whole country hanging on every pitch that he sees, I've got 20 young adults half asleep or playing Tetris on their phones.

That Pujols contract is crazy. $25+ million per year for 10 years to a guy who's going to be 32 in a couple months and who's numbers have already been declining the last two years. There's a serious argument that he's already overpaid at that price all things considered. How long until it's not even an argument anymore? A-Rod was a similar age when he got his recent huge deal but he didn't have any signs of his numbers dropping, and he got all of two good years out of the ten before the Yankees and their fans started going, "Um...this isn't good."

I wonder if this Yu Darvish is the real deal or if he is just going to flame out after a few seasons like the majority of Japanese Pitchers do.

I think he is more of a real deal that Dice K is. He looks more like a traditional pitcher other than the guys who brought funky stuff (Dice K, Nomo, Hasegawa). His stats speak for themselves, and if you've seen footage of him in Japan or in the WBC he looks like the type of pitcher who can do really well in America. I'm pulling for the guy.

I am glad to see Andy Pettitte making a comeback. I wish he would not have retired in the first place because the Yankees could have really used him last year (To be honest I wish he never left to go to Houston in the first place because I think if he would have stayed, they would have beaten the Marlins.). Now I shall admit that I am not expecting much out of him but I hope he is good enough to get about ten or so wins.

Reason why: The Phillies have the better pitching but I think the staff of the Yankees has a chance. I think the Yankees have the better offense out of the two of them. While good pitching beats good offense I still think the Phillies just do not have enough on offense to win.

So this is not me picking the Yankees because they are my favorite team, I just really do think at this point on paper they have the best team. Now that is on paper and as we all know the season is not played on paper so watch me be painfully wrong.

I am not even going to guess on the awards and I would not be shocked if both the Red Sox and Rays get the two Wild Cards.

I guess someone should put a filter on Ozzie Guillen, I mean to make pro-Castro remarks in Miami of all places is just stupid. That being said I do think he is a victim of overly sensitive people who want the world to be PC. In my opinion his comments in no way merit a five game suspension.

I just think our society as a whole is way too politically correct.

Yup. Especially now when they're at the cusp of reclaiming the country (Raul is far more moderate than Fidel and wants to see MONEY come into Cuba. Only one way for that to happen...). If Raul switched Cuba to even a similarity of a democracy ("President for Life"), he'd be a billionaire within a week (and not just on paper). He knows that.

Marlins knew what they were getting when they hired Ozzie. He's great for keeping a mediocre, drab, under the radar team in the public eye. In short, Ozzie is the only manager in MLB who sells tickets and moves units (page views, newspapers, ratings, etc). He'll bring far more value than his contract costs.

Definitely agree with you about Ozzie being there for reasons that far outweigh his impact he'll have on the team between the lines. Miami is doing a total retool in every way to try to get the city behind them, and they knew that having Ozzie in the dugout would draw much more interest than if Jack McKeon or some other generic coach would. They knew along with the exciting young players they have in that lineup coupled along with Ozzie would make for if nothing else an exciting year.

I was listening to Dan LeBatard and he was talking about how this is the equivalent of someone making a homophobic or racist remark in another city, that's how it made all the Cubans in Florida feel. I know Ozzie likes to spout off, but I thought he was smart enough not to throw all the people that follow the team and had their lives impacted by Castro in some way under the bus. While I don't think he should have been suspended for what probably was just a brain fart, he needs to stick to talking about baseball from now on. On the other side the Marlins need to realize that they brought in a lightning rod and if they suspend him for every questionable thing he says through the year he will miss a whole lot of games. They knew what they were signing up for when they went out and got him.

There is the problem you thought... Ozzie has proven he doesn't think before he speaks usually. Any normal person in his shoes would know not to talk about Castro there.

I can't believe Verlander fell apart in the top of the 9th today. He had it in the bag too.

When I saw that Michael Pineda is going to be out for the year, it made me feeling like quoting Dr. Smith from Lost in Space, "Oh the pain! The pain of it all." Granted this does not mean it is lights out for the Yankees but it still sucks.

Yeah, that's a big hit. I'd say the Cubs and Astros would be more than happy to listen to offers for Dempster, Garza or Wandy Rodriguez if the Yankees came calling though.

Mariano Rivera apparently tore his ACL in a freak accident while shagging fly balls during BP. His season is likely over, and maybe his career too. I've spent years rooting against the Yankees (and Rivera, by extension), but this sucks. I've always respected him, and I really hope this isn't the way he goes out.

Yeah I just saw this and was going to come in here and post it, you scooped me!:D

This sucks, I would hate to see him have to retire under circumstances such as these. Just another injury in a long line of injuries that make me think the Yankees will not be doing anything of note this year.

You know this injury sounds a lot like the one that Mickey Mantle had when he tripped over the drainage cover. Just an odd freak accident.

Well from what has happened thus far in the season, it looks like I am wrong on pretty much every thing I put above.:o There is a ton of baseball left but I have a feeling I was dead wrong about the Yankees and the Red Sox.

I think the Red Sox clubhouse is so full of poison that I am not sure if they will be able to get their collective acts together to do any damage in the AL East.

The Yankees are the walking wounded and they have no starting pitching.

Hahaha. Suck it batch! :p

I am not sure if I should be insulted by you calling me a batch...

You do understand that what happens in April/May is not that huge of a deal. The Orioles are not that good of a team, they are playing better than they should. Don't worry though they will come back to reality soon enough.
