MLT, how could you have anything against the Cubs?

The Yankees I can understand but the Cubs, what could you possibly have against them.

Come ask that question in St. Louis :D Was listening to the radio last year, didn't know the Cubs were coming into town for a series. The DJ cut in with a special report that a horrible smell of raw sewage was coming from downtown and authorities were working hard to figure out what it was. I just stopped dead in my tracks and was like what?!? Then he said it was determined that the Cubs had just arrived in town and they were the cause of the smell. Made me chuckle pretty hard.

But the Cubs-Cards rivalry is pretty friendly most of the time. We have a good time letting them know that Cubs actually stands for Completely Useless By September and I'm sure they have all kinds of jabs for us but it's all in good nature. I love when a Cubs fan brags to me that they beat us in a series, I just remind them that we've won 11 World Championships since the last time they won one.

If you go to Busch or Wrigley for a Cubs-Cards game you will see a mix of the two jerseys, and the fans get along really well, they just like giving each other a hard time.

See I wish the Yankee/Red Sox rivalry was like that. I am a Yankee fan who lives in the heart of Red Sox country and if I wear my Yankee hat anywhere I have to listen to Red Sox fans.

Who goes up to a complete stranger and tells them their team sucks? It is a two way street, Yankees fans are just as bad and I am not saying they are not. It just sucks having to deal with the b.s. just because you like a team.

A couple of years ago I was at a restaurant with friends. I had a Yankees hat on and the waitress made a snide remark about me being a Yankees fan. I heard her say to the hostess, "Why did you seat a Yankees fan in my section?" Now I thought she was just busting my balls, so I did not get annoyed.

Over the course of the meal I quickly realized that she was serious. Her service was terrible to me but she was nice to my friends. My friend and I asked for refills of our sodas at the same time. She brought his but "forgot" mine. Then when she brought mine it was the wrong drink!

She screwed something else up over the food order as well (I cannot remember what it was but I know she messed it up). Now my friend's orders came out all right, mine was the only one that she screwed up. I couldn't believe this crap, so when it came time for the tip I left her a penny. Which was the wrong thing to do because she probably felt she was right in giving me poor service but who cares she sucked.

This is the kind of stupid crap that I have to deal with all of the time. It got even worst after the Red Sox won in 2004. I always say this, I do not hate the Red Sox or the Patriots, I just can't stand their fans.

So I had a pretty cool week of baseball this week. Me and the girlfriend made the trip to Omaha for game 2 of the College World Series which happened to be the game that Arizona won the national championship in. I've been to a ton of MLB games, and none of them came close to the atmosphere that was there Monday night. We were sitting one section down from the South Carolina parents and family so they were pretty rowdy to say the least. Very rarely do I get goosebumps during an MLB game but they were going pretty strong during the CWS game. The whole fan fest before the game and the experience in general is one of the coolest baseball related things I've ever been a part of, I highly recommend it.

Then on the way back to St. Louis we decided to stop by Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City to see the Royals and Rays play. We got there really early so they have this earlybird thing where you get to go right down onto the field to watch batting practice and stuff. It was well worth it because I got to meet James Shields and Jeremy Hellickson and even talk to Hellickson for a little bit. Got to talk about Alex Cobb about him being on my fantasy team and about who I had, pretty cool I must say. Easily the best couple of days of baseball I've ever had as a fan, can't top some of them from when I played, but still amazing.

@SHaynes23: That sounds really cool what they do at Kauffman Stadium. I have heard that there are some of the best steak restaurants around that general area, is it true?

For that reason alone I have always wanted to go to KC and either see a Chiefs or Royals game.

I've heard they have amazing steak restaurants around there, we just stopped by the stadium on the way back to St. Louis though so we just ate dinner at the ballpark and drove straight home after the game was over. I know they have some of the best BBQ I've ever had from the little time I've spent in Kansas City. Watching a game at Kauffman is very cool though, the stadium and scenery is beautiful. With the giant screen and fountains, plus the Hall of Fame out in left field it's a nice backdrop to the game. I'm used to going to games at Busch, and there's not much to look at except the empty lot out behind left field and the skyline, so it was a nice change of pace. Everything just seemed closer and more intimate than it does at a Cardinals game.

I really wish the O's would get rid of Arrieta.....

Yeah, I don't know what happened to him this year. Thought he would build off last year and have a solid one.

On a semi-related note, I was born in the same small town hospital as Jake Arrieta, go figure. :D

I pitty you!...:p

On another MLB related, but not really note. I got to take my niece to her first live O's game Friday night. She's ten and is softball and loves it. She is on her girls softball all-star team as the first basemen(woman) :) She enjoyed it so much she wants to go back again. Her favorite player right now is J J Hardey. I'm trying to talk her into being a Jones fan, but that's not going very well. :D

I've never seen a kid so young really flip out on a pitcher, but she was going off with everything on Arrieta till they took him out.

<p>So my father told me that Wade Boggs made it into the International League Hall of Fame. I never even knew there was a minor league Hall of Fame. It is really an honor to get in there?</p><p> </p><p>

I mean, in order to get in there you would have to be in AAA for some time. It is like winning the NIT, you might have beaten all of those teams to win. However, there are still sixty-eight teams that were better than you.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

So Melky Cabrera got suspended for 50 games, which is the rest of the regular season for testing positive for testosterone. Brings up what could be a touchy subject for baseball fans, in all likelyhood he'll still qualify for the batting title and has a very good chance of winning it if McCutchen falls off at the end of the year a little bit. That would go over like a fart in church if the batting champion was the man who admitted that he was using an illegal substance during the season.

On a side note, Melky was on my fantasy team so I appreciate him juicing up and already nearly clinching my team a division title and a nice little payday for it :D

I love the whole drama that is surrounding the Red Sox and Bobby V., this whole thing warms the cockles of my heart. The Red Sox front office should just scrap that team. Since the chicken stuff last year, it is clear that they are a very undisciplined clubhouse and I think any manager would probably have had a tough time dealing with that team.

I am no Red Sox fan but good for them in cutting out the cancer in their locker room. Also, I was happy to see Josh Beckett lose yesterday. To me he is the very definition of a Scumbag player. I hope he does terrible for the Dodgers.

I kinda knew that would happen doesn't deserve that 30$ Million and They need to just fire Bobby Valentine, he is ruining the locker room.

Just start over

On a other note-Cubbie Prospects are playing very well, may only have 40 wins but I'm looking at the future cause I trust Theo to build this team and get the right players to win that World Series

Yes I agree they should just start over it and Bobby V. is no saint but I do think the reason why they are playing so bad is mainly due to the players and not because of who the manager is. The Red Sox had the talent before they fell apart and I understand that part of the reason was due to injuries but that was a toxic clubhouse before Bobby V. even got there.

I am not sold on Theo being this boy genius because the Red Sox two World Series wins were built off Dan Duquette's work. Theo just polished it off and got the credit. It is a very similar to what happened with the Yankees dynasty of the 1990's. Gene Michael built that team, he was the guy who brought in the key talent that would lead them to those World Series victories. Yet Bob Waston and Brian Cashman get all of the credit for those World Series.

Bobby V was never the right choice and it all started with the Reported Meeting players had with the Oweners with many players saying they didn't like or didn't want to play for him. Don't know exactly what was said but still this is a horrible season for Red Sox Nation

With the Cubs doing nothing since that 03 Incident they overpayed Soriona but Lee and Ramariez played well but never played well in the playoffs

So I will agree with anything GM does to try to help the Cubs out

The funny thing is that most people can only name 2 people on that roster. Soriano and Castro( Can't never remember his first name)

I think with Bobby V it was more that his reputation preceded him. There has to be a reason why someone with such a good baseball mind never seems to stick around anywhere. I wonder if it was a case where the Red Sox players had heard horror stories about him and so they sort of shut him out before he even had a chance to manage them. I guess the fault lies on the players and Bobby and it would not shock me if he was one and done as their manager.

That being said from what I have read that clubhouse was not the most disciplined clubhouse even under Tito so it could be a case of a rotten clubhouse getting a new manager that they did not respect.

Don't get me wrong I think any time the Cubs are good it is good for baseball. So I would love to see them do good and if Theo is the one to bring them to the promise land, well more power to him.

I am not sure if I brought this up in here already but Jeff Kent is going to be on the upcoming season of Survivor. I wonder how well he is going to do, because I know he is known for his not so sunny disposition.

Dude would win a lot of who's more rugged contests :p

I don't see him lasting super long on there though, he'll be the guy who tells the young kids what to do, they'll get mad at him and say he doesn't need more money and after he builds their whole camp by himself in a fit of rage they'll thank him by voting him off.

You are probably right, when Jimmy Johnson was on there he did not last that long. Some lesser known former NFL players have done well on the show so who knows. I just do not think Jeff will probably end up being a prick and he will go quickly.

Hahaha. Suck it batch! :p

You were saying...

NY Yankees 3, Baltimore 1

Hey I got the ALCS right. I had the Yankees vs. Tigers and there they are. Granted I was wrong about pretty much every other thing I said but I was at least right about that.

Also, the Cardinals must have witchcraft on their side. The last I saw they were losing 6-3, then they come back to win it. Why do I have a feeling that they are the team of destiny once again.
