I acquired a four-episode DVD from my work (I worked at a movie warehouse at the time) and couldn't get through two episodes in a row. And maybe also because some of my real life friends reflect those sentiments.. in part. But hell, I'd say I myself even have similar opinions to theirs. I'll co-sign a lot of underground artists & I don't like Lil Wayne either but I won't blow a gasket if someone I like gets him on a song, or if he's making business moves like signing.. whoever to his label. There's just being passionate and there's being what I call an Internet drama queen, is all I'm getting to.<p> </p><p> Like I said, it must be a grating factor in lots of subjects in general, probably every music genre has that share of issues since there's always that one crowd that cares too damn much. I don't wanna get too much into it here, but in this case I think the hip-hop world is actually suffering from it. With mixtapes dropping all over the Internet these days, and Twitter being a hell of a factor(and then some...) artists and DJs take some degree of online input into consideration slightly more than the norm, subsequently you got some of them stating how finicky fans are... for some reason that makes me chuckle.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I hear you TPB. I'm so tired of every rapper being called a sell out because they don't cater to every single opinion of what they are supposed to be doing put out there by their "fans." </p><p> </p><p> "Oh NOES! Big Boi did a song with Gucci!!!! What a sellout."</p><p> </p><p> "How dare Kno get mad that the fans are tipping record labels off to the samples he's putting into his free mixtapes! If he really loved hip hop he wouldn't care about getting sued. Sellout!!"</p><p> </p><p> It's pretty ridiculous how much the internet hip hop community bitches about just about everything. The ones that annoy me the most though are the people who only listen to "real hip hop." Which of course means only conscious hip hop and anything from 93 and 94; because of course we don't want the music to progress past what was popular 20 damn years ago now do we. I can't bring myself to discuss Hip Hop much on the internet anymore because of this; beside the dead Hip Hop thread here in the dogpound and the hip hop thread on RYM.</p>

<p><strong>alphadraighon</strong>: I agree with you, it just plain sucks working with the general public. Customers are always trying to get over on you or so it seems. Some will even start a petty argument with you, fully expecting that you will argue with them so that they complain to the manager in the hopes of getting something to free.</p><p> </p><p> What I hate is when you have customers who are complete and utter morons and they call you stupid. There was this one lady that used to come into the Supermarket that I worked in that would routinely call the people that worked there morons. Now this lady was clearly stupid, you could tell by her vocabulary or lack thereof that she herself was an idiot.</p><p> </p><p> It used to burn me up because, while I might not be the smartest person, I did graduate College (I am not able to do anything with my degree but that is a different story.) and so I do have some intelligence. Here you have this welfare queen calling me a moron and this lady is the one who is an idiot. </p><p> </p><p> Anyway, one day she caught me when I was having a bad day. She asked me a question and I was already predisposed to be nasty towards this woman and so I gave her a terse answer. She did not like that so she basically called me an idiot, to which I said (This is a very clean version of what I said so it is not an exact quote…), “Look lady I have a College Education, do not think I am a moron just because I work here. This is just the only job I can seem to find, unlike you who are a welfare queen and a boil on our society.”</p><p> </p><p> Of course she flipped out, told a manager and I was reprimanded, I would have been fired if it was not a union job, and she was giving a gift card. So yeah I hate dealing with the public.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="BurningHamster" data-cite="BurningHamster" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="27610" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>As far as I can tell any job that involves people is going to get on your nerves. Not much you can do about that short of becoming super easy going or killing everyone.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Quoted for the truth, I used to like people for the most part. That was until I started working with the public. At one of my previous jobs I used to get so pissed off just looking at the door. I did not even have to enter the place I was so angry with the potential people that I had to deal with.</p>

but in all fairness its true about the cartoons and toys, todays G.I Joes are nothing compared to when i was a kid, same with the Transformer toys

In fairness with the toys, I got a £50 Optimus Prime a couple of years ago and a £120 Skywarp and they both take a big metal dump over their 80's equivalents :-)

Still hard pressed to find a toy that beats the Ninja Turtle blimp though!

I worked as a tyre salesman and what grinds my gears are when customers just rock up and expect you to drop everything your doing because THEY want something done.

or when someone makes a booking and then rocks up 1 hour early thinking it'll get done earlier

or then they make a booking and rock up 3 hours after they were ment to and expect to jump to the front because they had a booking lol

When a cute woman claims to be a dork or a nerd. That is just never the case. Do you think any of these women have ever thought about who would win in a fight Kirk or Picard?

Stop claiming to be something you are not!!!!:p

The problem is when a girl IS a dork, you guys treat her like a dork, not like a real girl.

Not true in my experience. I worked at a video games company for three years, and we had some lovely ladies working there who were more geeky than the vast majority of guys. I'm talking dressing up and going to Star Trek conventions geeky. And not in a 'lets dress in slutty Star Trek fancy dress uniforms' kinda way...they would spend weeks painstakingly recreating outfits from the TV show from scratch.

One of them was even a model on that Suicide Girls website.

If you are talking about women who want to be seen as one of the guys. Well then most are viewed as just that one of the guys.

Wait...not all dorky girls want to be one of the guys. I think that may be your priblem...

My problem is I wasted so much time treating girls like equals. They don't like that.

As much as women complain, we actually like to be pampered, coddled, and treated different.

I'm-a call BS on that one right now. My dorky female friends get more male attention than my non-dorky female friends.

That's not always true.

That is not what I am saying though. I was more responding to what you said.

My original post had more to do with good looking women who claim to be nerdy or dorky because they think it is the cool thing to do.

I actually do not know any dorky women, so I cannot treat a dorky woman like one of the guys when I do not know any dorky women.

Oh and I want to say that dorky and nerdy chicks can be attractive, I just wanted to put that out there before someone accuses me of saying they are not.

I once went to a Dark Shadows convention in the mid-1990's and all that were there were middle aged housewives who wanted to meet David Selby. I assume there are better looking dorky chicks at CTCon.:D

But generally those girls don't 'claim' to be a dork or a nerd. They just... are.

The really annoying ones are the ReplyGirls of the world, who couldn't carry a meaningful conversation if it killed them (unfortunately, it doesn't seem to) unless it's about how geeky/nerdy they are.

They usually use the term 'gamer girl' a lot, under the mistaken impression that it makes them seem cooler. Because it's only 2012, mainstream girls aren't allowed to play games yet.

See "real" girls can be geeky/nerdy and not give a shit what people think of them.

Take me for example. I don't consider myself geeky, nerdy, or even a gamer girl. I do play games and I dothink like a dork, and hell I'm a geek at times. I prefer (as do the other girls in my group) not to put a label on what we are. Yes we get together and play normal games the guys do. HEll half of them play WoW and kick the guys butts. It's just something we do for fun, not to attract other guys. I'd honestly prefer (as does my close friend Reeghan) to play these games without the guys around. It's a lot more fun to be with the girls and kicking ass. :p Just sayin...

Okay so I spent last night in Gettysburg PA. I was at a Lurthern Missionary school campus. I know that the ones here in the States will understand what this is.

Last night was an Easter vigil and a baptism for a dear friends little baby.

So there is drama in the group of friends I'm in. Of course this is with every group I suppose. One of the girls has pretty much isolated herself by pushing everyone away. The rest of the group was there and are still pretty close. I am trying to stay friends with the girl. WELL. During this 2 1/2 hour church thing I'm getting texts from my phone. Now I'm suppose to respond while standing, holding a candle, a program, and a song book. How the hell am I suppose to type a text?

So what really pisses me off are these people who think friend means BE THERE FOR ME WHEN I WANT YOU AND NO ONE ELSE BECAUSE I'M SELFISH..

  • 2 weeks later...

What's grinding my gears today is ungrateful employers.

After a year an a half with my employer (during which time increased my day-today hours and number of days worked, as well as took on additional duties) I finally got a raise: $0.50/hr. Considering that it still puts me far under the average rate of pay for the region I work in, I'm a tad bit miffed about it.

I was hired as a floor salesman. I currently handle floor sales, phone and internet sales, all customer service, all advertising and marketing, and even cover in the warehouse when the regular guy leaves early or takes a day off (which is usually once or twice a week.) I've been sick exactly 3 times in 18 months, and have taken a total of less than 10 days off between being sick and my unpaid "vacation". After all this, I told them I needed more money, to reflect the amount of work I do.

My boss tells me that they'll give me the raise, but they want to see more even work out of me, including a short list of things that I already do, but that they don't see because (shock/surprise) I come to work 2 hours earlier than they do, and usually do those things when I get here, rather than wait for them to show up just so they can see me doing it.

That's what grinds my goddamned gears today.

"What grinds my gears" is how long it takes in A&E, they have a 4 hour upper limit for patients being kept in. Yet when my nanna went in it took (and I'm being specific here) exactly 3hrs 59 mins for her to be moved to a ward (took 45 mins to get an IV flushed). Very very grinding of my gears.
