...I can't be the only who's noticed that most of J_Silver's male renders (while still top-notch and high-quality) look very similar in the eye/upper face area...?

 

(much like with Kobe's female renders before he added more variety, and many of VBigB's female renders with that Carmen Kass-like face he uses often)

 

The renders still look incredible, that's not what I'm pointing out--I'm just saying that by now we can easily tell who's rendered what by their facial style, at least for those 3 renderers. Maybe a couple of different eye texture packs? Turn the morphing dials a little bit more/less on occasion?

It's inevitable. DAZ isn't really designed to make hundreds and thousands of snowflake-unique characters. We all have certain things we do that we think looks good. In my own work, I try to be conscious of making things look different, but I'm sure a lot of my characters look similar to others. As for J Silver, I find he tends to rock the cheekbones pretty hard on his blokes.

 

I was working on some other stuff, and failing miserably, so switched to something more my usual cup of tea. This is my attempt at Alicia Strong, but I'm sure there are other possibilities. Maybe it's just the colouring, but it reminds me of my Katherine Goodlooks.

I think she looks like Kelly Kelly, quite honestly.

 

I think her face bears a very slight resemblance to your Aborigine attempt a while back, but otherwise I don't see much "similarity" between her and any given Self-made female render. You, along with JHD and most of JTLant's renders, tend to skew towards more individual-looking faces. Even if it's just a small change in a dial or 2 (a single face preset dialed to 1 can produce wildly different results from that same face preset plus 3 other face presets dialed to .25 each), I notice that you do pay attention to details like that.

 

Me, I made liberal use of the free face morphs I got from ShareCG (my Brian O'Brien and Referee renders come to mind) to give my characters a difference--they all used the same default M4 face texture.

No, I don't think you are. I mean yeah, after a while I look at new renders I've done thinking 'Have I done this look before?'. It's the way it goes tho, everyone has their own style and within that style there are only going to be so many feature changes before you can't help but slightly double up in some places. Like, for your example, there are only so many looks a pretty blonde can have before they look a little samey to the renderer, because you are the one putting them together and know that you used that hair for so-and-so, her eyes are a little too like blah's, etc whereas folks veiwing the renders see that render on its own merits

I really dig the render, Self, but it doesn't quite work for Alicia for me... If I tried to put something on it, it'd be the upper arms not having a good joshi worker's musculature. Any way to thicken that up a bit? (Yes, I'm clueless.)

First of all, that is fantastic and no (or should that be yes!?), I think she looks very unique. My mimicking your 'style' has been mentioned before and part of the reason behind that is that your renders do look so varied. The advice you gave me on this very topic was enormously helpful so I wouldn't worry about it at all!

And the knee brace just gives an idea for a backstory in a storyline she has going, have someone target her knee due to an old injury leading to her using the brace and then the heel complaining that she has an unfair advantage wearing it.

I'm not familiar with Joshi Musculature, so good note. I'll see what I can do down the line.

 

It's not screaming Alicia to me either. That's who I aimed for, but she came out kind innocent looking, I feel. I tried all kinds of facial tweaks, but it was either "aww cute" or ugly monstrosity. I rationalised it with the idea that maybe genetically Alicia isn't the perfect wrestler, and was merely trained for it, so beneath the muscle she has a more vulnerable look, torn between her true desires and her need to make her father proud... but that's another road. I like the render, if people want to use it for anyone in the database, rock on. I'll cut it soon, although it's a PNG, so if anyone's chomping at the bit they can do it themselves.

I can see what you mean about it resembling Katherine; Alicia's original hair is much more of a yellow blonde, plus this render has a more rounded face than the original. I love the body design and I think the knee brace is a nice touch, so don't think that's it's a carbon copy; I see personality in there that is very different from previous female renders you've done.

I think with all renders, they begin to look alike, but be thankful its not the same alt being 3 people in the CVerse. Im surprised the Gilmore/Poison/Wrath are still the originals tbh.

Here's my two cents: from the standpoint of just face structure and appearance I think she definitely LOOKS like Alicia Strong. But her facial expression makes er seem a little introverted' it doesn't scream 'confidence.'

 

And - for me at least - when I think 'Alicia Strong' i think of a star performer who's probably wanted to be a wrestler her whole life and who you could build a women's division around. not ****y or spoiled...just smiling, beaming, old school face confidence.

Self, we definitely see eye to eye. I also imagined Delirante with braces so that re-render works awesome for me. The outfit fits an Ibizan type as well.
