~ Official Release ~ January 2001 "End of an Era"

Does anybody have the picture data for this? The first post has megaupload and rapidshare, the problem is megaupload is gone and rapidshare has made it very hard to download decent sized files without signing up.

I know there's already the history rewritten version of this where (IIRC) Bischoff's deal goes through but I had a thought for another take on it. I remember hearing Jericho (possibly on the Rise and Fall of WCW DVD) saying that had he known how cheaply McMahon bought WCW, he would have considered putting together a bid. I think a scenario where Jericho and maybe a few other midcarders scrape together the money after Bischoff pulls out because of the lack of TV would be a pretty interesting scenario to play.

Suddenly the under-appreciated, under-utilised guys hold all the power over the guys that have been holding them down. You'd probably have the big name, big ego guys on hiatus/taking a break until their contracts come up and then you can decide whether or not to re-sign them but still burdened by their contracts until then, and obviously you'd take a knock in popularity and prestige by being off TV and the ignomy of almost going out of business. If it started in a month without TV negotiations as well then you have a month to restructure and try to cobble together something (weekly PPVs or something). I don't know, I just think it would be a pretty neat scenario to play out if Genadi (or anyone else) had the time to give it some consideration. If no one else does, and Genadi doesn't mind, I might patch something rough together when my exams are over.

I think you should do something with this idea. Jericho could be owner with Lance Storm as head booker... due to their past as a tag team and known friendship.

What would this mean for Jerichos contract with WWE though? Would be still finish out his contract with them before being solely with his own company?

Many of the big names had contracts directly with Turner and not WCW, and the contracts were absorbed by AOL/Time Warner after the merger...not sure which ones but some or all of the following:

Nash/Hall/Hogan/Flair/Sting/Steiner/Goldberg....a google or wiki search and you could find out for sure

That's why many of these guys didn't show up during the 'Invasion Angle' in WWF... McMahon let AOL pay millions to a bunch of guys to do nothing, many of whom were partially responsible for tanking WCW in the first place.

It's entirely concievable that in a hypothetical scenario where Jericho bought out WCW he could have walked away with a managable payroll, albeit with a roster missing most of the WCW's biggest names.

For what it's worth, I did read an interview with Kevin Sullivan, he claimed Jaime Kellner's lawyer was friends with the McMahon family (Kellner was brought in to run TBS/TNT) and that may have led to the quick 'fire sale' of WCW....realistically, just the video library of WCW (which included Jim Crockett's library and I believe Bill Watts' Mid-south) was worth waaaaay more that $4.2 million.

The guys behind Fusient, Brian Bedol & Stephen Greenburg were big time players (they created what would become ESPN Classic & CBS College Sports Network) and, without the guaranteed TV deal on TBS/TNT, likely figured WCW to be a waste of their time

Interesting ideas, I myself am working on a what if scenario, where WCW never tanked and the Monday Night Wars went on full force with the scenario starting in 2003.

Your idea also seems interesting. I like what if mods.

I to am using this mod, and using the WCW on the what if theory. I came in as owner and skipped the first week of shows (causing damage to the fed i know but it served its purpose in 2 fold. For one it let me sign some major guns, i wanted to try and get as well as trim the fat off the existing roster. (still trying to get some peopel to join the WCW revival some are more then willing some not so much)

Also major props to Genadi as i had all but quit playing TEW, as i could not get into a mod. This one however grabbed my interest and i went from there. And im loving it. So thank you... Huge props for brreathing life into this game again when i had hit a stale spot, and this is coming from someone who loses interest in real world mods very easy

Can someone re-up both of the data as well as their pic packs? Also, huge favor, if anyone had Genadi's 1999 data/pack and 1997 pic pack.
