The New Xbox 360's

So after my 3 year old xbox woke up with the RROD on me one morning, ive decided I'm going to invest in one of the new 360s. For anyone unsure, I'm talking about the one that has wifi build into them.

Heres the actual question,

If anyone on the forums owns one of the newer ones, how happy are they with them. Have they had any problems with it? Its probably to soon to tell considering the old models took about a year to burn up.

Any feedback would be awesome.

Bought one about two months ago. My original 360 was bought back in 06, so it had a good run but it was dying. The new has been problem-free so far. Its much quieter, which is nice. The mess of issues I was having with the old one are all gone, which is even nicer.

My brother just recently got a job with Xbox as a customer support agent through Alpine access. He said that all you guys had to do it call the customer support and just say three red rings or red ring of death and they will ship you a new label and fix the box for free.

I'm on my third one, and replacement by Microsoft might be worth looking into as gator says super.

The warranty is now three years for a RROD, so you might still be in it.

Mine got back to me in about 2 weeks. i didn't even have them send me the label, you can print one out at the customer support website and mail it in now.

I was having inconsistent video issues with my old one. Basically the video card was slowly going. I talked to Microsoft. They were in no hurry to fix it for me - tried that approach, trust me.

hm, that's cool. I believe I was talking to supershot so he could save some money. He said RROD, not his video card as well.

Second, I have now had about 5 different xbox's because of the RROD and only on this last one did I have to pay anything....... $15.00. It doesn't work for all people and sure it could take 5 weeks to get the system back, but 5 weeks is better than paying 200 dollars for a new console.

I have three 360s in the house - two 20GB Pros and the new 250GB Slim. The new one is an absolute dream. USB ports everywhere! Shame it can't take the regular memory cards (as you might imagine, I have need to move profiles/saves around a lot!), but it's a fantastic, responsive, quiet system. Highly recommended!

Mine made a weird vibrating noise when spinning discs, but once I installed games, it ran really quiet. The touch eject button messes me with sometimes; I'll try to put a disc in and barely touch and it will shut on me.

I'm not really complaining, just some little things I've noticed with mine.

I thought you said you had it for 3 years?

They extended the warrenty for the RROD to 3 years instead of 1.

It can't use the old Hard Drives or the old Memory Cards (the white things that go in the front...)

You can do one of two things to transfer data though:

1. Use USB Drive(s)

2. Buy a Transfer Cable (very cheap)

The only reason I'd buy a new 360 is because of how silent they are compared to the old ones. The refurbished one I just bought a few weeks ago works perfect and it isn't banned from XBOX LIVE (which is nice). I have a linksys wireless adapter for my 360 and have a nice wired LAN setup at my house, so I don't need the internal WiFi. No cash these days = new XBOX can suck it. :p

Even if there was I used the towel trick to get a few more weeks out of it and from what I heard, that voids your warranty.

Appreciate the help but I think I'm out of luck. Thanks for the tip on the hard drive situation Moe.
