5SSW Uprising Tour (Wednesday)

Wednesday, Week 3, January 2014

Gunma Hall (Kanto)

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/PrefSymbol-Gunma.png

Did you know?

Gunma produces 90% of Japan's konjacs.

* * * * *

*Yuu sat outside the Gunma Hall as the day began to fall and become night. A day that would never happen again, so she wanted to watch it sail away. Every day was like that to her. It was cold enough to see her breath as bits of snow and rain mingled in the lights that laced the building. She closed her eyes and leaned her head against the concrete wall. She was happy, and crossed her arms over her chest. Happy to be home again. Happy to be with 5SSW. Happy that in an hour she would see the faces coming in from the cold, waiting for a story to be told. This was her life. It defined her.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingUmekoHotta.jpg

Umeko Hotta: "Well now, look at Yuu."

*Umeko stood in the doorway, leaning and her arms crossed too. A mirror image, except that she was wearing her reading glasses which accented her rather cat like face. It made her look like a wise lioness. To Yuu that was exactly what she was. She was also her dearest friend. Yuu opened her eyes, but did not look back over her shoulder. After so many years and kilometers, she could picture her exactly in the eyes of her mind.*

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingYuu.jpg

Yuu Onuki: "But do you see?"

*Yuu joked with her usual knots of words. She had kept in touch with Umeko over the last three years. They had met as often as their schedules collided. But between Umeko's physical therapy and Yuu losing herself? The meetings had been few and far between: coffee, a sandwich or a shared train ride.*

Umeko: "We're all very glad you're back Yuu."

Yuu: "We??"

*Yuu smiled, with her back still too Umeko. But Umeko knew she was doing just that.*

Yuu: "I am quite and sure that Fuyuko and Shiori would have a collection of words for you, no? And Saori Nakadan, yes?"

Umeko: "I said 'we' not 'them'."

*Yuu thought about continuing the mock argument, but instead settled back into her self made warmth within.*

Yuu: "I missed it, yes? Isn't it quite and silly? It has taken everything that could have been and will. It throws you out and then to the sides. It does embarass you to the face and red... and we crawl back with hands to be happy again?"

Umeko: "Life is ridiculous."

Yuu: "Life?"

Umeko: "Well, you are ridiculous too."

Yuu: " ... Ahh, now the sense is found."

Umeko: "Fish in water, Yuu. Only fish get it. People don't. See you after the show?"

*Umeko didn't wait for the answer, because she knew it was 'yes' and the door slid closed behind her. Yuu was left with the night again.*

Yuu: "But I am the octopus."

*She made the same octopus noises as before.*

* * * * *

Darkmatch:

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Yu Hashimoto and Romi Yamato defeated Jaguar Endo and Yori Toyoshima in 6:22 when Yu Hashimoto defeated Jaguar Endo by pinfall with The End Game.

  • Romi Yamato seemed off her game tonight.
  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost.
  • Romi Yamato is improving in Performance skills.

Match Grade: D

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/SayuriSakoda.jpg

Sayuri Sakoda:

"Welcome to the 5SSW Uprising Tour, coming to you from the Gunma Hall for a second week in a row."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/ShirosamaEzakiya.jpg

Sirosama Ezakiya:

"And welcome to you, Sayuri. The new lead announcer, and lovely voice of 5SSW."

"Please be kind to me Shirosama and I will do my best."

"Well you couldn't have come at better time as things are about as focused as I can remember."

"It's all about the 5SSW World Championship tonight, as four matches have Championship implications. HEART Saitoh, Megumi Nakajima, Fuyuko Higa, Shiori Jippensha, Yuma Maruya and DEVIL Karube are all fighting for a spot in the Championship match."

"You may not know it yet Sayuri, but those names you just mentioned are some of the best women working in the business today. Tonight is going to be an incredible show. I can't wait."

"You won't have to wait long, Shirosama because Shiori Jippensha's music has started and she is making her way down to the ring."

"She does not look happy, but in all my years I can't remember a time when she did look happy. But make no mistake about it, happiness is irrelevant and she will do anything to be the World Champion for a second time."

"Well tonight that 'anything' is beating Yuma Maruya. A two time World Champion and Female Wrestler of the Year for two years running."

"You have to like Yuma's chances in this whole mess. Not just for her accomplishments, but also because she is wrestling at such a high, high level. She is hitting her prime and it's something to behold."

Shiori Jippensha vs. Yuma Maruya

Shiori and Yuma set the bar high in the opening match with an all out display of ground vs. air. With Yuma landing badly on her left leg, Shiori was relentless with her attack on it. But Yuma countered with a surprising show of power, as she fought out of the Jippensha Leg Lock. Shiori couldn't get it locked back on a second time.

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Yuma Maruya defeated Shiori Jippensha in 18:07 by pinfall with a YUMA Special.

  • Shiori Jippensha was visibly tiring toward the end.
  • Yuma Maruya has now switched to an Old School Face gimmick. It has gotten an initial C+ rating.
  • Yuma Maruya was visibly tiring toward the end.

Match Grade: C-

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingYumaMaruya.jpg

"The YUMA Special? Shiori is as self centered and as egotistical as they come. But she has no quit in her. I knew I was going to have to hit the YUMA Special to move forward. I knew that last week. So I waited, and looked for the opening. That's the same way I've been looking at the World Championship, and I see my opening again."

Eri Sato vs. Otsune Tsumura

60 second barrage by Eri had the Champion cornered and covering up. It was so fast that there was a real chance at the title changing hands. But when Eri sent Otsune to the ropes, that was her last and only mistake. Otsune blasted her with a flying forearm and took over from there.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Otsune Tsumura defeated Eri Sato in 6:21 by pinfall with a Flying Legdrop.

  • Otsune Tsumura makes defence number 19 of her 5 Star All-Asian title.

Match Grade C:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingOtsuneTsumura.jpg

"Wow, she can kick really hard."

*Otsune lifts her shirt and shows an impressively bruised set of ribs. She winces a little as she touches them, before letting her shirt fall back over them.*

"It's okay, I've been kicked a lot lately. But yeah, I knew if I could get her off her feet I would be okay. I used to be the same way. So, it's a good win for me, right?"

All Business vs. Gemmei Oonishi and Chiyeko Kita

A spirited and personal effort by Gemmei and Chiyeko. But the machine that is All Business was just too well oiled and seasoned. Once they successfuly isolated Gemmei, it was only a matter of time.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, All Business defeated Gemmei Oonishi and Chiyeko Kita in 12:28 when Tomoko Nagatsuka defeated Gemmei Oonishi by submission with a Crossface Chickenwing after blatantly cheating.

  • Gemmei Oonishi has a dreadfully stale character, a change is really needed.
  • Tomoko Nagatsuka has now switched to a Grunge Rocker gimmick. It has gotten an initial B- rating.
  • The fans were really turned off by the finish to the match.
  • Chiyeko Kita is improving in Technical skills.
  • Raku Makuda is improving in Rumble skills.

Match Grade: C-

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingTomokoNagatsuka.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingRakuMakuda.jpg

Tomoko: "Why did we put our differences aside? That's easy. Just look at the Tag Team Champions, HEART Saitoh and Yu Hashimoto. Thrown together by management with nothing better to do, and they hold the belts? It's a disgrace and we intend to erase that mistake. We are going to bring tag team wrestling back to 5SSW."

Raku: "We are happy that we have to destroy HEART and Yu on the way. HEART knows what we can do, but Yu? Yu needs a lesson in just how painful reality can be."

Chitose Ariwara vs. Umeko Hotta

Chitose has found her confidence again. It's amazing what a single victory can do. But Umeko knows exactly how meaningless one victory is when you have thousands of matches to your name. Umeko showed enough to remind us of who she was, but couldn't put Chitose away before the wheels started to come off.

In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Chitose Ariwara defeated Umeko Hotta in 12:18 by pinfall with a Victory Roll.

  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost.
  • This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Match Grade D-:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingChitose.jpg

"Happy? You think so? :) I guess so, yeah. I really want to show the fans of 5SSW my best. I think I'm doing that now. So, yeah. I'm happy tonight."

Kiko Sakakibara vs. Hana Ajibana vs. Huntress Makiko

This was nothing more than an 8 minute mugging as Huntress and Hana worked in concert to completely destroy Kiko. Both women hit their finishers before dragging Kiko into the center of the ring, where Huntress locked in the Clutch while Hana clapped along to the angry crowd.

In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Huntress Makiko defeated Hana Ajibana and Kiko Sakakibara in 8:56 when Huntress Makiko defeated Kiko Sakakibara by submission with a Makiko Clutch.

  • Huntress Makiko has a dreadfully stale character, a change is really needed.

Match Grade C-:

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingHuntressMakiko.jpg

"What was what about? I don't have to explain myself to you or anyone else. We did what had to be done. That's all you need to know."

* * * * *

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingEtsukoArihyoshi.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/versus.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingSaori.jpg

Etsuko Arihyoshi vs. Saori Nakadan

Etsuko gave as good as she got, and seemed only seconds away from a Championship win when she countered the Nakadan Spike with the Arihyoshi Lockdown. But Saori was close enough to the ropes to make the break. With everything breaking down after that, the match spilled outside, allowing Fuyuko Higa to add to the assault. The numbers game was too much.

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Saori Nakadan defeated Etsuko Arihyoshi in 13:30 by pinfall with a Nakadan Spike.

  • During the match we also had Fuyuko Higa run in and attack Arihyoshi.
  • Saori Nakadan makes defence number 7 of her 5 Star World title.
  • The announcing quality wasn't up to the same standard as the match.

Match Grade: C

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingSaori.jpg

"What kind of question is that? I'm the World Champion, and I will do anything to keep this title. That's the difference between me and everyone else in this company. That's why I will stay the Champion."

* * * * *

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingDevil-1.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/versus.jpghttp://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingHEART.jpg

DEVIL Karube vs, HEART Saitoh

You know HEART Saitoh carried a lot of pressure into this match as she represented her mentor, Sensational Ogiwara. She threw her entire arsenal at DEVIL and it was an impressive barrage of offense and speed. But DEVIL proved just how deep her bag of tricks is as she weathered the storm until she saw that HEART was running out of strength. DEVIL picked her apart in the closing minutes and even pure desperation and passion couldn't turn it around. In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, DEVIL Karube defeated HEART Saitoh in 16:21 by pinfall with a DEVIL Drop.

  • The announcing quality wasn't up to the same standard as the match.
  • DEVIL Karube is improving in Technical skills.
  • HEART Saitoh is improving in Rumble skills.

Match Grade: C-

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingDevil-1.jpg

"That's the thing about change. You really can't control it once it starts. And once you can't control it? That's when I come in and take it back. You see, I gave 5SSW a chance without me. For two years I sat back and let the future take over. The only problem is, the future is broken. The future isn't fit to take over. This is bigger than the World Championship. This is about Joshi Puroresu."

*DEVIL looks steadily into the camera, her voice low and controlled.*

"I've decided we are going to skip this new generation and hold out for the next. Maybe they will have the ability to carry on."

*DEVIL paused to find her word.*

"But make no mistake about it. I'd rather have this entire Joshi Civilization disappear from the face of Japan than have it continue as a shell."

*DEVIL looked up from the camera, at the person operating it. Listening to a question...*

"Who am I to say that? I'm the DEVIL, and I only talk when it's already happened. It won't take you long to find it."

Fuyuko Higa vs. Megumi Nakajima

Tonight's show has been incredible and exhausting, but the small crowd rallies behind Megumi in the Main Event. She hits an incredible top rope variation of the Nakajima Straight Jacket but she doesn't have the strength to hold the bridge. Groggy, to her feet she screams at the air before signaling for the finish. Saori sprints out and hops on the apron only to meet the forearm of Megumi. But she's distracted, spent and turns into the Higa Driver. Both legs hooked. The end.

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Fuyuko Higa defeated Megumi Nakajima in 17:47 by pinfall with a Higa Green Driver.

  • During the match we also had Saori Nakadan run in and attack Nakajima.
  • Megumi Nakajima was visibly tiring toward the end.

Match Grade: C-

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingDevil.jpg

*With a cunning smile on her face, Saori Nakadan raises Fuyuko's hand in victory. The crowd boo and jeer at the self pleased smiles on their faces. It is only when they are backstage that things begin again.*

Saori Nakadan: "I told you last week. Fuyuko is smart. She joined me when I won this World Championship because she knew. She knew, some day, I would repay her loyalty with a title shot of her own."

*Fuyuko was dripping sweat at the side of Saori, she only nodded her head. It was obvous she was ready to take her chance at 5SSW Japan's Warfare. Saori looked at Fuyuko.*

Saori: "You are 'The Future' Fuyuko and everyone knows it! If they don't? They will find out at Japan's Warfare when we make sure I remain the World Champion."

*Fuyuko stops looking so determined as Saori's words sink in. Confusion takes its place gradually. But Saori is oblivious, wrapped up in the greatness that is herself... alone?*

sooo close to joshimpeccability!! Good show, you seem to finally be gettting the lines connecting.

Thank you Dragonmack. :) It is still a work in progress as it does always seem and being. But there is a direction if I do not get lost in all the little things. It is fun and strange to step in to the middle of a tour that is not your own, yes?

d(-_^)good!! :

How great was the All-Asian title match? I don't think any of us really thought Eri would win the Championship in her debut. This is Joshi after all. But she had me believing in the opening minutes. Her kicks were stinging and you could tell Otsune was caught off guard. I guess that's what happens when you defend a title 19 times.

DEVIL, Yuma, Saori, Shiori, Etsuko Arihyoshi, Megumi... Etsuko Arihyoshi? Another surprisingly close match was the World Championship match. Etsuko completely out wrestled Saori on almost every level, if not for the interference of Fuyuko... who knows what could have been. If Etsuko keeps her head up, mark my words then I could see her as World Champion sometime this year.

The card. This was a great card, and I think if they had been playing in their home region it would have been a home run. While the match order was a little questionable (I would never open a show with Yuma), it definitely set the tone for the night and had people watching,

(>_<) :

Enough with the Lion System Japan. Your future is bleak if you keep burying your future under some outdated "respect" tradition. Hana and Eri have a good amount of buzz around them right now so let them go and their thing. I think Yuu gets it. Putting Eri in the All-Asian match and letting Hana shine along side the freaking Huntress were good indications. But how long until they reeled back in by the hook?

(x_x) :

While I'm glad to see Chitose turning things around. Her match against Umeko Hotta was hard to watch. Usually that kind of stuff falls on the younger woman, but tonight it was Umeko who just didn't have it in her. Was it horrible? No. But on last night's card? It was pretty bad.

End of Line:

A new announcer. Fresh characters. Opening new regions. A resurgent tag team division and a clearly defined Main Event all show that this is not last year's 5SSW. While some of the gleam may have dulled from The Oracle's shine, she is still one of the most interesting bookers working in Joshi Puroresu today. That is why The Lizard Queen took her back in, and any fan of women's wrestling in Japan has to be at least a little optimistic about the future. Count me in on that.

Very good guesses this week. I am happy that the mind of Yuu is not too confusing and yet not quite or clear. The show was very good for me from a story and line. The Main Event is strongest, but my hands still grasp for a tag team division and teams. Format is closer, I am scavenging from GAIA a few things that I liked and had forgotten. Umeko! I missed her and Yuu... I am not sure why. Small changes are coming, since Eri was hired you know someone has to be leaving soon. I am not happy about it, but the Lizard Queen writes the rules and I? I am not she. Her eyes are upon me.

*Back to back to back and again? Her predecessor had been a mad man it did seem. But it could not be changed until the off-season. Then she would have her names. Then she would see the future more and clearly. The thoughts of Yuu were singular if not concise. The Main Event had come into focus, and rumbles in the Tag Team division... it was well. The All-Asian title was in good hands, but its picture was muddy and distant.*

Yuu Onuki: "Next time..."

*Even the octopus had its limits it did seem. She spoke to herself softly as The Lizard Queen held the floor.*

Sakurako Kagawa: "Not good enough child."

*The Lizard Queen had their new announcer in her sights. Yuu knew it was only a matter of time, and the Queen's watch was notoriously fast and fickle. Sakurako had worked at the broadcast table herself, she had little time for amateur hours.*

Sakurako Kagawa: "You know the moves. But you do not know the history. You do not have the depth. This is 5SSW. We are the last, best Joshi organization on the Planet Earth. You must capture that when you speak."

Sayuri Sakoda: "Yes, Kagawa~san."

Sakurako Kagawa: "Any one can say 'suplex' when they see one. I want the history of the two women on display. We do not fly by night and forget in the morning."

Sayuri Sakoda: "Yes, Kagawa~san."

Sakurako Kagawa: "Do better. You have 90 days."

*No one was surprised, except for Sayuri Sakoda. It took her a moment to nod her understanding of the situation.*

Sakurako Kagawa: "Good, now my dear, little 'Oracle' what do you have in store for me tonight?"

Disc 2:

The feud between Megumi Nakajima and Shiori Jippensha has spanned most of their respective years in the business. It seems they are simply fated to collide, and the costs keep getting higher. Their inability to co-exist has cost them both a shot at the World Championship. So there is nothing left for them to do but try to destroy each other.

Huntress Makiko and Hana Ajibana joined forces last week and dissected Kiko Sakakibara in what was so supposed to be a three way match. This week there will be no games as they face the Tag Team Champions in a non-title bout. But Yu Hashimoto and HEART Saitoh are no Ultimate Devastator Lemons as they continue to barely co-exist long enough to get the job done.

No one on the roster has used the recent wind of change more than 'The Butterfly' Chitose Ariwara. Putting her slump behind her, she has been piling up the wins. But tonight she face 'The Firefly' Yori Toyoshima. A high flying veteran who can still go at full power. Can Chitose continue her winning ways, or has the wind finally blown itself out?

All Business have reunited in hopes of claiming the Tag Team Championships. But first they have to deal with Chiyeko Kita and Gemmei Oonishi, who look to settle an increasingly personal score. Can Chiyeko and Gemmei even things out in singles competition, or are All Business simply too much Business for the young duo to handle?

Etsuko Arihyoshi came very close to being the new 5SSW World Champion last week. Many believe without Fuyuko's interference we would have had a new champion going into 5SSW Japan's Warfare. But tonight she gets a taste of the future in Romi Yamato. A win tonight is crucial for Etsuko to keep whatever momentum she has and to keep her close to the Main Event scene. While Romi may very well be fighting for her livelihood as her contract is set to expire. Which is more important? We will see.

Last weeks show was incredible, and the same could be said for tonight's Main Event. DEVIL Karube, 'The Future' Fuyuko Higa and Yuma Maruya meet in a three way match the night before they fight Saori Nakadan for the 5SSW World Championship. Each one of these women would love nothing more than to inflict as much damage as possible tonight. Each of these women want nothing more than to be the new, 5SSW World Champion.

5SSW Uprising Tour (Thursday)

Thursday, Week 3, January 2014

Gunma Hall (Kanto)

"Did you know that?

Gunma is home to one of Japan's three

?"

* * * * *

*Yuu Onuki had been a reluctant, Internet darling. It had never been her intention to be famous. It had never been her goal to be one of the masks of Joshi Puroresu. Indeed she would be the first to admit and say that it was Sakurako Kagawa, the owner, that did make Yuu Onuki who she was today, tomorrow and the next. The Lizard Queen set the rules by which they all did their violent dance. Yuu's strong point was that she explored the space she was given with an open eye and vigorous breath. She loved to discover the lines in the air they all did share.*

*But even the more casual fan could see that Yuu had changed her ways and means. She was more patient, and subtle than before. She did not hire 5 people and fire the line-less faces. She now watched contracts expire, and then acted from there and then. She did not gut the tour they were now when finishing. A tour she had not been involved with in planning. She simply dug deep for the present and buried lines. She dug deep and then counted the days when she could shape. Yes, she was more patient. But no, she was not dead of creative passion.*

*Tension. There would always be tension between the Queen and her Oracle for one very simple reason. The owner of 5SSW loved the history and tradition on which her Queendom was built. The head booker loved the endless possibility of the future. It was her fuel for the driving forward. It made Yuu's mind sing a song. The only place they could meet was now, and now was where they met again, and again. The Lizard Queen protected her borders fiercely. The Oracle lived to only expand.*

Sakurako Kagawa:

"No, we did away with the Young Lion system last time you were here and the time before that. What did it get me? A roster full of young talent that couldn't carry the title, the fans or the merchandise. Let them earn their place the old fashioned way. You pass out torches on the basis of talent and potential, Yuu. You never look at character closely enough. Paying your dues to the past is not the same thing as holding back talent. It's not a spiteful thing."

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj188/Ippotamus/TEWTalkingHeads/TalkingYuu.jpg

Yuu Onuki:

"We do not get younger, no? We do know the names and the years that are passing now and tomorrow again. Do you know the electrical shocking that I did feel when I saw Hotta~san still in and of ring? We are on the time most borrowed, Kagawa~san. I know you and your mind once made and locked. But visit my words tomorrow, or the weeks again. The 'Young Lion' system will not help us soon, it will be a mirror of the opposite."

Dark Match:

Official Result: In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Umeko Hotta defeated Jaguar Endo in 9:06 by pinfall with a Flying Knee Strike.

  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost. This match brought the crowd's mood down.

Megumi Nakajima vs. Shiori Jippensha

A very personal and gritty match from two very talented workers. But that talent was traded in for an extra handful of hair and another trip to the outside. Shiori caught a break when Megumi's leg met the steel steps. She capitalized by wrapping that same leg repeatedly around one of the steel posts. Megumi did manage to fight back back inside the ring but her leg finally buckled during a Nakajima Straightjacket attempt. Shiori pounced a final time.

Official Result: In a match that had some good action and average heat, Shiori Jippensha defeated Megumi Nakajima in 16:12 by submission with a Jippensha Leglock.

  • Megumi Nakajima was really off her game tonight.
  • Megumi Nakajima was visibly tiring toward the end.
  • Shiori Jippensha was visibly tiring toward the end.

Post Match:

Shiori Jippensha:

"Is Nakajima not walking? Is she not in this company anymore?? Then it's not over! It will never be over until both of those things happen. I will never get my due as long as that woman is here. I am going to fix this once and for all. Every day I don't have the World Championship is another day I am going to make her pay. Every match. Every night. Every town. No more Nakajima. No more!"

Eri Sato vs. Kiko Sakakibara

Eri continues to start hot, but is unable to put together a finishing sequence. Kiko taught the young rookie a lesson about one dimensional attacks when she caught a round kick and floored Eri with a Dragon Leg Whip. Eri never recovered as Kiko kept her grounded and out of strike position for the remainder of the short match.

Official Result: In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Kiko Sakakibara defeated Eri Sato in 6:03 by pinfall with a Kingdom Quake.

Rating: D

Post Match:

Kiko Sakakibara:

"Otsune was right, those kicks are something else. But it's going to take more than that to break through around here. I think she's figuring that out. Huntress and Hana are going to figure a few things out tonight too. I guarantee it."

Yu Hashimoto & HEART Saitoh vs. Huntress Makiko and Hana Ajibana

Huntress and Hana came out to a strong reaction after their dual assault on Kiko Sakakibara the week before. It seems an alliance has been made. The Tag Team Champions came out separately, ignoring each other for the most part. Huntress and Hana made a great team, and seemed to have everything in control until the past came back to haunt them. Kiko's tag team partner, and All-Asian Champion, Otsune Tsumura delivered a match changing Lariat to Hana. Huntress was unable to make a crucial tag because of it, and soon found herself facing a fresh HEART Saitoh.

Official Result: In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Hashimoto & Saitoh defeated Huntress Makiko and Hana Ajibana in 8:33 when HEART Saitoh defeated Huntress Makiko by pinfall with a Flying Tiger Knee. During the match we also had Otsune Tsumura run in and attack Ajibana.

Huntress Makiko has now switched to a Gypsy gimmick. It has gotten an initial C+ rating.

  • HEART Saitoh is improving in Rumble skills.

Rating: C

Post Match:

Yu:

"No, I gave us an unfair advantage and I'll do it again just to shut you up HEART."

HEART:

"What did you say?"

Yu:

"You heard me. Huntress and Hana can't beat me for the Tag Team Titles. They just can't do it. You're lucky to have me as a partner or you'd have nothing."

Chitose Ariwara vs. Yori Toyoshima

While Chitose remains technically a heel, it doesn't stop the crowd from remembering her Butterfly Days. Yori offers a hand shake, which Chitose... accepts. The two stayed even through out the match, and each hit a couple of moves off the top which kept the fans in it. But it was Chitose's ever surprising Victory Roll that stole the match away.

Official Result: In a match that had an average crowd reaction and some decent in-ring action, Chitose Ariwara defeated Yori Toyoshima in 12:26 by pinfall with a Victory Roll.

  • The colour commentary gave the match a boost.

Chiyeko Kita vs. Tomoko Nagatsuka

It's obvious from the ring language that Tomoko doesn't take Chiyeko very seriously as an opponent. She turns her back on Chiyeko several times, a definite insult. Chiyeko had her fighting spirit in the on position, and put together a good offensive stretch. But Tomoko found an answer and soon had Chiyeko's arm and shoulder isolated. But when the two tumbled outside, it was a surprising Leg Lariat from Gemmei Oonishi on the outside that turned everything, including Tomoko, around.

Official Result: In a match that had some good action and average heat, Chiyeko Kita defeated Tomoko Nagatsuka in 12:25 by pinfall with a Strong Head Kick. During the match we also had Gemmei Oonishi run in and attack Nagatsuka.

Gemmei Oonishi vs. Raku Makuda

Tomoko and Chiyeko don't bother to leave the arena, which only turns up the heat more in this second match. It's Gemmei who strikes first and fast, taking a page out of Raku's book. Lariat to the outside and that was the last bit of order the match would see, as Chiyeko and Tomoko joined in. The referee called for the bell, but that didn't stop the brawl outside for another 10 minutes. The youngsters gave as good as they got to the surprise of many.

Official Result: In a match that had some good action and average heat, Raku Makuda drew with Gemmei Oonishi in 11:43 following a double disqualification. During the match we also had Tomoko Nagatsuka run in and attack Oonishi.

Gemmei Oonishi has now switched to a Tomboy gimmick. It has gotten an initial C+ rating.

Etsuko Arihyoshi vs. Romi Yamato

Etsuko got a nice reaction from the crowd. Her recent title shot has done wonders for her as people are starting to accept her as a possible line into the future. Romi was all offense, and came up with a couple of close two counts. But she couldn't find the three and soon couldn't find the fuel to keep up the pace. Etsuko had no problem picking up the pieces after a devastating Shoulder Breaker.

Official Result: In a bout that had solid in-ring action and average heat, Etsuko Arihyoshi defeated Romi Yamato in 16:06 by submission with an Arihyoshi Lockdown.

  • The match was too long given who was involved.

Rating: D+

Post Match:

DEVIL Karube vs. Fuyuko Higa vs. Yuma Maruya

Pop of the night goes to Yuma, and she obviously loves the crowd in return. Yuma has really come into her own as the #1 face of the company, title or not. But the legacy of DEVIL Karube is still strong. This is what 5SSW is all about. Great, non-stop action with no alliances and no holding back. Everything looked to be going Yuma's way as she headed up top for the finish only to the 5SSW World Champion, Saori Nakadan, to jump on the apron and push her off to the floor. DEVIL is turned around by the appearance of Saori, while Fuyuko keeps her focus in the end. She takes the opening without hesitation.

Official Result: In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Fuyuko Higa defeated DEVIL Karube and Yuma Maruya in 20:34 when Fuyuko Higa defeated DEVIL Karube by pinfall with a Higa Green Driver. During the match we also had Saori Nakadan run in and attack Maruya.

  • The match dragged at the end, as it was too long for the workers to really keep an 'all out' pace going.
  • DEVIL Karube is improving in Technical skills.

Rating: C-

Post Match:

*The 5SSW World Champion, Saori Nakadan, joins 'The Future' Fuyuko Higa in the ring, rasises her hand and nods her full approval. This was the woman that was going to secure her 5SSW Championship. But Fuyuko takes her arm back, and points at the center plate of the Championship belt. Kick to the gut by Fuyuko! Higa Green Driver! The Champion is down and Fuyuko picks up the belt and holds it over her head in easy to read symbolism before dropping back down on the downed Saori Nakadan.*

d(-_^)good!! :

The tag team of Hana and Huntress looked really good and the match they had against the current champions was easily the match of the night. Not only for the in-ring work, but for the continuity displayed as well. It made sense for Otsune to interefere after what they did to her long time, tag partner. Just don't call Huntress and Hana, Seek and Destroy 2016. I couldn't handle that.

The card had a nice flow to it. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Yuu Onuki always had a subtle hand when it came to card building. Starting the night with the insanely personal Megumi vs. Shiori really sucked people in. Ending with a #1 contender-triple threat made sure everyone would stay and buy the DVD later.

(>_<) :

I'm not really catching the Chitose buzz. I mean four years ago she was good as parts of the Daughters of Whirlocity. But in singles action? I'm just not a big fan of her ring work. She always reminds me of watered down Yuma without any of the Special.

(x_x) :

Nothing! Nothing really made me want to die tonight or even fast forward.

End of Line:

Continuity is today's secret word, and 5SSW has found theirs. Five out of the eight matches have on going stories attached to them. From the uneasy partnership of Yu & HEART to the reformation of All Business. From the new team of Hana and Huntress all the way up the World Title hunt. 5SSW is going into their big show, Japan's Warfare, with a very strong push.

Nobody finds her way into the mind of Yuu today. Which is just as well, she's cleaning and it's a mess. But special yay to Dragonmack who called the Main Event perfectly.

It was a good show, I agree with I. Fudd and his reviewings. Bleh on the color scheme: purple, blue(face) and red(heel)? It is not working for me. Back to purples I am thinking the thoughts of colors. Hmm, on the predictions. I feel bad for them tonight and feel the frustration. I really, really wanted Eri to win, but as a young lion? It could not be today. I hate that system, but the Lizard Queen has spoken.

This third Dynasty has a putting it together as we are going feeling. It is like building with blocks this time. At first you have three blocks, but soon you have a house and a block dog named Block... and then? Your eyes do see Block City and the eyes have fun again.

*Yuu watched the spheres collide and send their energy through invisible lines that the eyes could not see. A birthday present from Umeko the year before the last one, it helped her relax. It took her to other places without moving. That was what made it the perfect gift, because Yuu was present quite too often. Today had been such a day.*

Yuu Onuki:

“Today and today and today makes three.”

*Indeed it was Friday, three shows in a row. Three shows for which there was no space between. Everyone was exhausted. Everyone was sleeping in. Everyone did try to escape again. Yuu used the Newton’s Cradle to blur the minutes. Three doors down the World Champion, Saori Nakadan fell asleep in a hot bath laced with Codeine. Next door, DEVIL Karube blocked out everything with an I-pod filled with the collected works of Blankey Jet City as she wrote a letter home to her family. The younger girls flocked together in their rooms, watching TV and eating copious amounts of food. It was like limbo, between the now and the show. Not enough time to leave and too much time to kill. They were all of the suspended animation and basic senses until the curtain went up.*

Yuu:

“Up and away.”

*She let the ball swing again, her thoughts moved at their pace. But they did move none the less. One single line of thought branching out into many. What did she want to do this time? What did she want to achieve? Even she did know the basic fact, that this was the final of the trilogy. There was only one thing left that she had not done, and she had not done it because it could not be.*

Yuu:

“My dream is a National Treasure…”

*The final challenge for her was to make 5SSW a National Success once again, like the Golden Era now buried and almost forgotten. She knew it would take her years, but 5SSW was going to take those years no matter what she did or not. Between the lines, she weaved her dreams inside.*
