ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM LEAGUE HEADQUARTERS

From the Desk of Commissioner Colt Marshall...

As a preview to what the fans can expect in The League's fourth season, a special "Rookie Showcase" will be held prior to the official start of the season, featuring all of Season Four's incoming members.

As of yet, it has not been determined whether this will be a tag team contest, a series of single bouts, or some combination thereof. This will not adversely effect the rookies (read as: treated as an exhibition match), and will serve to give both the veterans and fellow rookies a look at what to expect come July, and the start of The League's fourth season.

More details to follow as they become available....

OFFICIAL GUIDELINE LIST FOR THE LEAGUE

(Revised April 6, 2001)

I. GAME ENGINE

The League is run using the Wrestling Spirit II game, version 1.2, latest patch. The League Director has purchased a fully licensed copy of the game, which allows for exhibition matches to take place (such as League matches). The database used is the default CornellVerse database, modified to include promotions, wrestlers, moves, personalized movesets, and relationships for League members as appropriate.

II. INITIAL CHARACTER CREATION

1) Initial Stats

a) Characters created at start of Season 1: All stats will be set to a value of zero (0). A list of all available stats that can be upgraded—regardless of how useful they will be in the League—is provided with each wrestler's web page (made at time of entry into The League by the director).

b) Characters created after start of Season 1: The player will receive in-game funds equivalent to the average winnings of all players from each previous season. The player can then spend this money as if he/she had acquired them through normal means. This mechanic allows any new entrants to be around the same level stats-wise as the veterans.

2) Initial Moveset

a) Assigning of initial moves: Based on the info presented for the wrestler in question, a default movelist will be made for the character. This list will be determined by the style of wrestler, the size, and whether any specific moves have been requested. Note that some moves require a minimum "stat" to use, and thus may not be available at the start.

b) Assigning of signature/finishing moves: When first entering the League, a character may have one "signature" move (a named move which the character uses to great effect, or as a rare finisher) and one finishing move (also named and which is their primary method for ending a match). These moves will have the requirements set to zero (0) in all categories to ensure that the move is in use, and also be assigned to be a "trademark move" of the wrestler using it (mainly for "flavor" purposes).

3) Restrictions on Moveset

a) Player input: Players may suggest moves to be entered into their character's movesets, keeping in mind that the possible stat requirements may make the move unavailable to begin with. Changes to a moveset (with the exception of purchasing new signatures/finishers) can only be done once per season, and no later than halfway through said season. This restriction is in effect due to the fact that altering a moveset is the most time-consuming portion of the character creation or altering process.

b) Limit on signature and finishing maneuvers: At the most during a character's tenure in the League, they may have a maximum of three (3) finishing moves and ten (10) signature moves at any one time. This is for ease of database maintenance and also to keep the database running smoothly. If a player takes either a fourth finishing move or an eleventh signature move, he or she must choose a move in the same category to discard.

4) In-game avatars

a) Not a necessity: Players are not expected to provide a picture to use for their character. While it would look good and certainly help the Director's sanity, it is not necessary. The Director may ask who the player would like to use for their character, and attempt to make the avatar himself (or seek more experienced help in that department).

b) Size: For those people who wish to submit their own avatars, the size of the picture should be 150 pixels by 150 pixels. Larger pictures can be shrunk to meet the needs and still retain quality, but smaller pictures are not recommended.

Once all of the steps above have been completed (namely, when the League Director has entered everything into the program and has a webpage set up for each player), the character is ready to enter the League and try to become champion!

III. LEAGUE GUIDELINES AND RULES

1) Conferences and Divisions: This will be based on the number of entrants. Past examples: Season 1: 3 divisions of 4. Seasons 2-3: 4 divisions of 4.

2) Tournament Playoff: Based on the number of entrants, the top records in the League will face off in an elimination-style tournament until only one remains, as the League Champion for the Season. Past seasons have had the following ratios: Season 1: 12 players, 4 playoff spots. Seasons 2-3: 16 players, 6 playoff spots.

3) Season Standings: In the event of identical records, the tie will be broken in the following order:

a) Head to Head: If the wrestlers have fought each other, whoever has won the match (or series, if a divisional opponent) will have the advantage. If more than two people are tied, records against all wrestlers tied for that position will be looked at, if available, with the best record winning the tie-breaker. If all wrestlers tied for that spot have not faced every other wrestler tied for that spot at least once in the season, this step is skipped and the second tie-breaker is invoked.

b) Divisional Record: In the event that a) above is unable to break the tie, the next step is to compare divisional records of the tied individuals. Whoever has the better divisional record shall have the advantage.

c) Match Rating: If both a) and b) are unable to break a tie, the next step is to look at the average match rating throughout the season. Whoever has the highest average match rating shall have the advantage.

d) Seasonal Earnings: If a) through c) above fail to break a tie, the final check that shall be made is the amount of money earned by that wrestler in the current season, with the highest earner winning the tiebreaker.

e) Playoff: If methods a) through d) above fail to break the tie, a one-match "playoff" shall be held, with the winner claiming the advantage under the guidelines of section a) above. If more than one person is tied, a round-robin style format will be used to determine who claims the advantage under the same guidelines listed above.

IV. SCHEDULING, REGULAR SEASON

1) Schedules: This will largely be based on the number of entrants. The current plan is for a schedule to consist of no fewer than ten (10) matches per player, in a round-robin style. Every season to date has had fourteen (14) regular season matches, to provide an example.

2) Match Order and Region Schedule: Depending on the number of weeks in a season, the Director will randomly draw a number of regions equal to the number of weeks the season will run. Currently, there are no plans for a region to be used twice in a single season. After an appropriate number of regions have been drawn, the Director will then arrange the order so that it would make sense for a company to travel from one locale to the other in a civilized order. (Thus, no Japan to Europe to Mexico and back to Europe again trips.) Match order is determined by the combined popularity of the wrestlers involved; lowest total is the opening match, highest total is the main event. Ties are broken by difference between the characters' popularities, from most different to least different.

3) Type of match: There are five types of singles match available in this game: normal, two out of three falls, cage, hardcore, and first blood. There is a 5% chance that any given match will have one of the latter three stipulations attached to it; this amount may vary in certain parts of the world. Two out of three falls is reserved solely for the post-season playoffs and any special mid-season tournaments. (See below)

4) Rules of the Match: Each region of the world will have its' own quirks on how a match is played out. This will allow for a slightly different dynamic in each area to add to the sense that each area of the world does things differently. Below are the guidelines for each major area:

a) United States: Will have an American style crowd (which will often try to rally behind the faces or taunt the heels). Referee bumps are allowed. Match will be a "Sports-Entertainment" style in order to pacify the short attention spans of the average American wrestling fan. Chances of a specialty match increase to 10% instead of 5%.

b) Canada: Referee bumps are allowed. The match may be stopped due to excessive blood loss. All matches here will be a "normal" style match that is neither too fast nor too slow, which suits the traditional Canadian wrestling audience just fine.

c) Mexico: Referee bumps are allowed. Moves listed as martinetes (typically piledrivers, brainbusters, and the like) are illegal and will cause an immediate disqualification (unless the ref is knocked out). All matches here will be "spot monkey" type matches, which are the fastest-paced matches available and tend to lead to quick finishes from out of nowhere (a la lucha libre rules).

d) Japan: Rules will be adhered to strictly; the referee will call for the bell if you use too many illegal moves. Referee bumps are allowed. The match style is a Strong style match, which are more drawn out and tend to take longer because of the lengthy wearing-down period, and is most well-known in Japanese puroresu wrestling.

e) United Kingdom: Stoppages for blood loss are enforced. Matches are held in a "normal" style, much like the Canadian style. However, referee bumps are not allowed, due to a union agreement made by the League.

f) Europe: Not only are referee bumps not allowed (for the same reason as listed above), but the rules are also adhered to strictly, so heels may want to watch their step when in one of the three European areas. To counteract this, special-type matches have a 20% chance of occurring on European soil, which eliminates the DQ possibility. Matches held here are in the Old School style of wearing out an opponent so that a finisher will often be enough to win.

5) Changes in popularity: After a match has been concluded, a wrestler's popularity will change depending on the rating of the match, as well as the result. The higher the match rating, the higher the popularity increases, and vice versa. Winning a match will also increase a character's popularity. The length of a match will also have a factor in the change of popularity, as does the amount of offense each participant has. All of these changes will be handled by the League Director "behind the scenes" in between shows. The formula used is one created by the Director and may be disseminated if asked properly (and in fact has been, in the discussion thread).

6) Match Earnings: In order to keep things relatively simple, match earnings will be kept on the low side of the spectrum. Specifically: the purse for any given match will be $600, plus the current popularity of all workers involved. From this total, the winner will earn 75% of the purse, the loser 25%. (As an example: if both wrestlers are at a popularity of 20% in the region, 600 + 20 + 20 = $640. 75% of 640 = $480 to the winner, 25% of 640 = $160 to the loser.)

a) Match of the Night Bonus: The highest-ranking match of each week will receive "Match of the Night" honors. Matches so designated will earn a bonus of 1 to 25% to each wrestler's earnings depending on the rating of the match in question. In the event that more than one match receives the same rating, the Director will take several factors into account before picking one of those matches to earn the MotN award.

b) NOTE: The amounts listed above are effective as of season two. In season one, the base purse was $250 instead of $600.

7) Improving stats: In order to improve their statistics, each wrestler may buy training in a stat at the cost of the winnings they have earned. Increasing from 0% to 1% costs $10, and each point beyond that costs $10 more than the previous point. (Thus, 1% to 2% is $20, 2% to 3% is $30, 3% to 4% is $40. To go from 1% to 4%, you would need a total of $90.) It costs over $50,000 to advance a single stat from 0 to 100, and any seasons after the first would see the base purse prize increase to compensate for the higher costs.

8) Specialty Items: As documented before, all wrestlers will start with one signature move and one finisher that are considered "free" moves. Wrestlers may purchase up to two other finishers and up to nine other signature moves using their winnings, and may also purchase the services of a manager for an entire season. Signature moves cost $400 each, while finishers cost $1,000 each. Managers can also be bought, but at a cost of $3,000. This purchase lasts for two seasons (eff. April 6 '11 --SF). Upon purchase, the handler can tell the Director what the name of the new move is, what sort of move it is, and whether it's just a move they use frequently, a set-up move for a finisher, or if the move could possibly end a match if used. The director will then find a base move in the database, copy said move, and alter the copy to fit the specifications requested. The same general rule applies for finishing moves. Some examples are provided below.

a) Player One spends $400 to create a signature move he calls Immolation. This is a Death Valley Driver that he uses as a set-up move, but has been known to end matches with it.

b) Player Three spends $400 to create a signature move he calls the Sick Kick. This is essentially a higher-speed version of the superkick, and may occasionally force the wrestler to jump to make greater impact. This move cannot end matches, as it is usually the set-up for a submission finisher.

c) Player Two, deciding that his current finisher (a reverse double underhook facebuster) hasn't helped him win matches lately, elects to spend $1,000 on a new finisher. Deciding on a suspended STF (the Muta lock) and calling it the Longest Night, the input for that move is complete.

d) Finally, Player Four is getting tired of losing matches because he cannot seem to get control. After a lot of saving, he's acquired $3,500, and chooses to spend $3,000 on a manager for the following season. He would then PM the Director with a name, pic base (if the handler so chooses) and any other info he wants to be noted during the course of the following season, when the manager will work for him. After the playoffs conclude in said following season, the manager leaves the employ of Player Four, who must spend another $3,000 to re-acquire the manager's services.

9) Turnaround time: The Director of the league (namely, myself) expects to have a week of the league simulated and written up every week, including any behind the scenes work such as popularity changes. This may be altered due to weather, natural disasters, emergency circumstances, job-related incidents (of which the first three examples listed are often related), equipment malfunctions, duties to other projects, and so forth. The League Director will attempt to give due notice prior to any such events, if he is able to. The plan is to have one update per week, with a typical season (regular and post-season combined) lasting no more than four months for a fourteen-match regular season (14 weeks + 1 playoff week + 1 mid-season special tournament + 1-2 week "off-season" for maintenance and editing of the database)

V. SCHEDULING, POST-SEASON/"PLAYOFFS"

1) Match Location: All post-season matches will be held in what is called the "Virtual Arena" in-game. This location takes the highest amount of popularity a character has in the game world and uses that as the baseline for starting energy in their match. This is used in the playoffs to help simulate that when it comes to do or die, the more well-known workers seem to have a better knack for getting the job done.

2) Changes in Popularity: Post-season matches do not count for changes in character popularity in the game world.

3) Match Purses: Post-season matches do not have a monetary purse attached to them.

4) Style of Match: All playoff matches, regardless of the style of tournament used, shall be contested under best two out of three falls rules as a "regular" match, with referee bumps being allowed.

5) Match Order: Match order shall be determined by the League Director, and shall not be random for playoff cards.

6) Turnaround Time: As noted in section IV, part 9), turnaround time will remain at a week per round, unless dictated otherwise on the league recap page. If a time is noted on the league recap page, that time takes precedence over the standard rule.

VI: AUDIENCE/PLAYER PARTICIPATION

1) As someone once quipped, "this is a wrestling-based RPG." While true to a point, no roleplays (or RPs) need to be written for your character. They would have no effect on the game, and so are unnecessary. If you wish to write one for fun, you're welcome to; just be advised that it will not alter the results in any way.

2) During the course of the season, a season-long prediction contest shall be run by the League Director, who will also participate in the guise of League fan columnist Tori Montgomery. In a change from the first two seasons, those who pick correctly split the total number of points available for a match, and at the end of the season, the points earned will be added into that player's training cash total as a bonus for habitual participation. In addition, the winner of the prediction contest earns the right to set divisions for the upcoming season.

a) Predictions from all participants (with the exception of the League Director—see below) may be changed up to the time at which the results are posted. Prediction standings shall use the last "official" predictions made by a player to determine points scored for the round.

b) NOTE: The Director will never simulate a week of the League prior to making prediction picks, as to do otherwise would ruin the spirit of the game. The Director will post his predictions on the forums prior to simulating the week's matches, so that his picks are rendered official and can not be changed later to prevent foul play.

3) This is meant as a fun diversion, and so insult wars, flaming, and other negative behaviors will not be tolerated. We are all mature here; there is no need for any sort of negative action to ruin the fun for everyone else. Talking a little smack is acceptable, as long as it doesn't get out of hand and doesn't become personal. After all, this is a wrestling-based game and talking smack has always been part of the business.

4) Handlers are expected to keep abreast of their current earnings and dictate where to distribute winnings/points at least once or twice a season. The more often you check, the more say you'll be able to have on your character's development, as even a few points difference in a stat could be a game-breaker. For that reason, it is highly suggested that all players at least keep tabs on their character's cash balances and plan to distribute points accordingly.

5) Handlers who have been inactive for an entire season will have their character(s) removed from active competition during the following post-season break. Any money that their characters may have acquired will be reduced by half as a further penalty in case they return to the game at a later date. Characters belonging to the League Director are exempt from this requirement, and other exemptions of this nature are solely at the discretion of management.

VII. BETWEEN SEASONS

1) Because little enjoyment can be had during downtime, the Director will attempt to expedite all between-season changes so that the following season of the league may begin in a prompt manner. The projected turnaround time for making post-season changes to abilities, popularity, and any other changes is two weeks, though this may be changed at the whim of the Director. When possible, the Director will attempt to work on some of the off-season changes during the season itself, in order to expedite the process.

2) END OF THE SEASON AWARDS: At the end of the playoffs, various awards will be handed out by the Director. These include:

a) Playoff Wrestler Award: Everyone who made the playoffs will receive $50 to allocate or save as they see fit.

b) Divisional Champions Award: Should the number of participants allow a multi-divisional system, the division champions will earn an additional $50 on top of the "Playoff Wrestler" bonus to allocate or save as they deem fit.

c) Entertainer of the Season Award: The wrestler with the highest average match rating will earn a $50 bonus to allocate or save as they see fit. If more than one wrestler ties for this award, then each shall receive the full bonus.

d) Upset of the Season: This award will be given to the wrestler who starts the match with a lower amount of popularity (and thus energy) than his opponent, and still manages to pull out the win. The greatest difference in popularity at the time of the match will be the main decider of this award; tiebreakers will include match rating, length of match, and offensive rating. The winner of this award will receive $100 to allocate or save as they deem fit.

e) Match of the Season: A match must first qualify as Match of the Night to be eligible for this award. The director will examine all of the yearly MotN winners and choose one to be the Match of the Season. All participants in that match will receive a bonus of $200 to save or allocate as they deem fit.

f) Notes on prize amounts: These may increase in later seasons to better reflect the rising costs of stat increases.

3) After each season, all participants will receive a minimum of ten (10) attribute points to add into their statistics. Handlers may assign these points for free, in any areas of their choosing, with only one restriction: a handler may not put more than five (5) points into any one stat in this manner each post-season. Wrestlers who finish with more losses than wins will receive additional free points to use in the same manner, with the same restrictions.

4) All wrestlers making the playoffs will receive a minimum of one (1) point to be added to their Wrestling Spirit statistic. The further into the playoffs one goes, the more Spirit points they shall receive. The League champion shall always receive ten (10) Spirit points, and the runner-up shall always receive eight (8). The remainder will be determined by format of the tournament, number of entrants, and round in which elimination occurred. This information will be provided at the end of the postseason, and said points will be added during the off-season. Because of the importance of the Wrestling Spirit stat (which is used to aid a wrestler's chances of kicking out of a pin or not succumbing to a submission hold), this is one of only two ways this stat can be improved. In the event of a smaller field of players, these totals may be altered as appropriate to fit the current scenario.

5) When there are more people willing to be in the League than can be reasonably accommodated to stay true to the planned turnaround time (i.e. with over 20 participants), a "replacement" system shall be instituted, in which the wrestlers with the worst records will "sit out" the following season to undergo further training to be ready to return the following season. An equal number of replacements will be brought in from the list of reserves. Should the League ever reach this point, the Director will create the necessary rules to handle this situation.

VIII. PUBLIC DISCLOSURE

1) Popularity levels of a character in all regions of the game world will be considered public information, and posted in the match line-up for that specific week and locale. The Director may provide all of this information as a spreadsheet for public viewing, if enough people ask.

2) Also considered public information is a character's win-loss record, typical finishing maneuvers, average match rating, and any League accolades won during his or her career in the League. See the posts above for this information.

3) A character's statistics that define how he/she is in the ring are not considered public records and so will not be openly displayed.

a) Those interested in having the data to run matches similar to the League on their personal computers for fun should contact the League Director privately. Please note that "exhibition" matches, which all League matches are considered in-game, cannot be run on the demo version of Wrestling Spirit II.

b) The current plan is for each handler to have a separate web page which details current information on stats, funds available, etc. Communication on how to improve the character via stat distribution should be handled via the GDS forums' PM feature.

4) Any questions should be directed to the League Director, who will answer them as best as he can. This is best done via private message on the GDS forums.

Season Three, Week One

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

February 20, 2011

Yes, fans, once again it's that time again. Welcome to Season Three of the League! I'm Tori Montgomery, pulling double duty this season as The League's official web columnist and supporting color commentator for every show in the next four months. Only two new faces come in this season, both replacing members unable or unwilling to remain with us. The field remains at sixteen, and for the first time there is a possibility of a repeat champion, as reigning champ Johnny Triumph is among the field looking to climb the mountain once again.

I'm as anxious as anyone to get the season started, so let's take a look at the divisions for the League's third iteration, shall we?

THE DIVISIONS: SEASON THREE

Mr. I effin rule, as a result of his predictions dominance last season, has set up the divisions to his liking for season three, and given how last season ended with three members of one division making the playoffs, I'm not believing that a repeat performance is in the works this season. Now revealed to the public eye, here are the divisions for the upcoming season:

ALPHA DIVISION

Johnny Triumph (9-5 last season, Delta Division Champion, Defending League Champion)

From being one match out of the Season One playoffs to winning it all in Season Two, Triumph has been a front-runner in both seasons he's been a part of. Triumph is a submission specialist, and his Horns of Victory finisher is one of the most feared in The League. Early Vegas odds have him making the playoffs, but we'll find out over the next three months whether he can live up to the expectations placed before him.

Strengths: Unquestionably the best technical wrestler in The League, is not afraid to throw punches when he needs to.

Weaknesses: May have stamina issues; is not known for being very charismatic.

Super Century (4-10 last season, last in Delta Division, 14th overall)

Century did not have too great of a rookie season, with half of his wins coming via divisional matches. Given that half of the division this season are some of the larger competitors in the League, I'm thinking it could be a long season for the eager high-flier. If he breaks .500, I'll be surprised.

Strengths: Decent all-around wrestler, with a slight emphasis on aerial tactics. One of the more resilient members of The League.

Weaknesses: For such a high-flier, he has noted stamina issues and limited athleticism.

Tarik Nolan (10-4 last season, Third in Gamma Division/Wild Card Entrant, 6th place overall)

Last season, Nolan was one of the Gamma Division's "Big Three," going 5-1 in divisional matches but falling one match short in his bid for the division title. This season, grouped with the defending League Champion, Nolan is looking to prove a point and take revenge on Triumph for relegating him to the fifth-place consolation match last season.

Strengths: No one is more powerful or resilient in The League. Surprisingly decent technical ability.

Weaknesses: The big guy is easily winded, and cannot move fast to save his life.

Thor Hammerskald (4-10 last season, Third in Beta Division, 13th place overall

The Norseman returns this season looking to go up from his poor 4-10 showing last season. One of the heavier members of the League, Thor comes in as the biggest man in the revamped Alpha Division, and with a little bit of luck on his side could challenge for a playoff berth this season.

Strengths: The gold standard in The League in a straight fistfight, surprising submission skills

Weaknesses: His technical skills leave a lot to be desired, as does his stamina.

BETA DIVISION

Diamond (w/Jayde) (5-9 last season, Third in Delta Division, 12th overall)

Diamond is one of two League members who will be accompanied by a manager this season. Of the two, she might need the distractions a manager can provide just a bit more, as she's one of the returning veterans who ended last season with a worse record than in season one. No one can doubt that she's a very entertaining wrestler in the ring—she was Season One's Entertainer of the Season, after all—but will the manager give her the push she needs to finally contend for a division title?

Strengths: By far the most charismatic League member, tends to be consistent in matches

Weaknesses: Limited in-ring skills, her main strength (her aerial skills) are suspect at best.

Ezekial "ACE" Kerghan (League Rookie)

One of the two rookies joining the League for season three, Ezekial has been described by former employer The Dog Pound as a bit of a psychopath, specializing in hardcore bouts and taking everything that can be thrown at him. With a noted lack of hardcore matches in The League, though, it will be interesting to see if Kerghan can make the adjustment to a more regular style of match.

Strengths: Hardcore specialist, good resilience to withstand punishment

Weaknesses: Technical skills are basically non-existent, easily winded

"The Scorpion" Scott Stevens (7-7 last season, Second in Delta Division, 8th overall)

A rookie last season, Stevens did respectably well, taking the Delta Division race to the final week of the regular season before falling just short. There is no question that Stevens is one of the most arrogant members of The League, having disrespected a number of people associated with the League (including yours truly). However, he can back up his words in the ring, leaving some to wonder if this is the season he breaks into the limelight.

Strengths: Ability to take a beating and still keep going in the ring.

Weaknesses: Truly a jack of all trades but master of none.

The Phoenix (w/Te'Snilo Bradenbury) (11-3 last season, Gamma Division Champion, 3rd overall)

The turnaround story of the season last time, Phoenix went from a 3-11 debut season to a 7-0 start and coming one match away from competing for the League Championship. Yet another wrestler who uses a submission—in this case, the rarely-seen Stretch Muffler he dubs "Eternal Requiem"—Phoenix has been on both ends of the spectrum on League competition. The question here is how will having his wife accompany him as a manager change his in-ring capability?

Strengths: Outclasses everyone in The League in basic wrestling skills, has recovered from a broken neck to compete over the last two seasons.

Weaknesses: For being a technical wrestler, his skills are on the lower edge of acceptable. His size leads him to be tired very easily.

GAMMA DIVISION

Ian Carlisle (League Rookie)

The second of the two rookies joining The League in its third season, Carlisle reminds me of Scott Stevens in his skill set. In the ring, he doesn't favor one method of attack over another, though his finishing maneuver—a top rope gutbuster—is sure to raise some eyebrows once the season begins.

Strengths: Is one of the few League members comfortable in the air, unknown status may be to his favor

Weaknesses: Like Scott Stevens, a jack of all trades with no specialization; uncertain ability to fend off injury.

Maxx Skabb (8-6 last season, second in Beta Division, 7th overall)

Maxx returns after a big improvement from Season One, coming a match and a tiebreaker away from making the playoffs in his second season. One of the more menacing figures in The League, Maxx vehemently denies any accusations that he has a crush on Diamond, despite the two of them teaming for the mid-season tag tournament last season. I'm not going to doubt that Maxx has a shot at the playoffs this time around.

Strengths: One of the most powerful members of the League, also able to throw punches with the best of them

Weaknesses: Flies like a lead balloon, has the athleticism of a slug.

Robbie Maynard (5-9 last season, last in Alpha Division, 11th overall)

What a difference a season makes. Making the playoffs as the wild card in Season One, Maynard struggled to get anything going last season and finished in the bottom half of the standings. Rumors abound that he's got some new plans for the season, and he will need them with the competition he is facing in this division.

Strengths: Easily the most athletic person on the roster, also in great cardiovascular shape.

Weaknesses: Hit-or-miss basic abilities, can be a bit injury prone.

Sean (11-3 last season, Second in Gamma Division/Wild Card, 2nd overall)

Sean was a tie-breaker away from winning his division last season, and came within a few minutes of walking away with the League Championship last season. The only member of the League to have been in both seasons' playoffs, Sean is the odds-on favorite according to the Vegas bookmakers to win it all this season.

Strengths: One of the better mat wrestlers in The League, can also withstand a lot of in-ring punishment.

Weaknesses: His defense against fliers is suspect at best, also does not get a lot of power behind his attacks.

DELTA DIVISION

El Demonio de Sangre (3-11 last season, last in Gamma Division, 15th overall)

Demonio was one of the bigger disappointments in Season Two, though many think that can be attributed to the Gamma Division's "Big Three" last season. The only Luchadore in The League, Demonio looks to pull a Phoenix and turn his fortunes completely around in his second season with The League.

Strengths: The best pure aerialist in The League, has a surprisingly good mat game as well and is skilled in the basics.

Weaknesses: Cannot keep a frenetic pace for long, will lose a fistfight every time

Nuclear Templeton (9-5 last season, Alpha Division champion, 5th overall)

Nuclear has been one of the front-runners each of the last two seasons, narrowly missing out on winning his division in season one. Last season, he accomplished his objective of making the playoffs, but was bounced quickly. Returning for a third season, Templeton is ready to take that next leap into the elite with a run deep into the playoffs.

Strengths: Can end a match in multiple ways, has superior power and stamina compared to most of the rest of the League.

Weaknesses: Despite power, is not good at fisticuffs, has a weak technical game.

Sebastian Moore (10-4 last season, Beta Division champion, 4th overall)

Despite finishing last season as the #2 seed, Moore was unable to advance in the playoffs and had to settle for a fourth-place finish. The only rookie to make the playoffs last season, many consider Moore to be the pick of the litter for the Season Two class; a second playoff run would only solidify that claim.

Strengths: One of the few people in The League with mixed martial arts knowledge, as well as in-ring psychology

Weaknesses: Has no specific area of expertise, aerial defense is practically nil.

SGRaaize (7-7 last season, Second in Alpha Division, 9th overall)

With a slight improvement in record from Season One, Raaize comes into Season Three looking to force his way into the playoff picture. Being in the same division with two of last season's divisional champions does not help his odds out at all, though. It could be a long season for the Portuguese native.

Strengths: Has a firm grasp on his technical wresting ability, is surprisingly powerful for his size.

Weaknesses: Not very charismatic, is very awkward when defending or attacking through the air.

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (Mexico—West Central)

(Martinetes are illegal, ref bumps allowed, Spot Monkey style match)

As you can see, after ending season two in beautiful Rio de Janeiro, we're staying "South of the border" as we visit the beaches of Puerto Vallarta to kick off Season Three. As the city doesn't have an arena big enough to host the League, the show will be held on one of the local beaches, so expect a different look for The League this week! That said, it's high time I entered my first picks of the season.

Johnny Triumph (0-0, 6%) vs. SGRaaize (0-0, 9%)

(Career Series: Tied 1-1)

The defending League Champion comes in at a disadvantage in this match, and with the Spot Monkey rules that slight difference could be all it takes. However, he's not the champ for nothing, and I think Triumph will kick off his championship defense with a victory.

Tori's Pick: Johnny Triumph, 7:20, F

CAGE MATCH: Thor Hammerskald (0-0, 16%) vs. Robbie Maynard (0-0, 9%)

(Career Series: Maynard, 1-0.

Career in Cage Matches: Maynard 0-1, Thor 1-1)

This could be a surprisingly good match, all things considered. Maynard had Thor's number the last time these two faced off—coincidentally, in the main event of Season Two's opening week—and I'd be a fool to think that a cage will be any different. Maynard in an early contender for Match of the Night.

Tori's Pick: Robbie Maynard, 16:10, B+

Sebastian Moore (0-0, 15%) vs. The Phoenix (0-0, 15%)

(Career Series: First Regular Season Meeting)

As playoff matches do not figure into the regular season stats, it's not being shown above. However, this IS a rematch from the third-place consolation last post-season, which Phoenix won. With so little time in between that match and this one, I do not see any changes to the result happening. Te'Snilo Bradenbury will also help tilt the match in Phoenix's favor, as well (in my opinion).

Tori's Pick: The Phoenix, 9:10, C

Super Century (0-0, 15%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (0-0, 15%)

(Career Series: Templeton, 1-0)

Last season, it only took Templeton nine and a half minutes to take out Super Century. With the new moves in his arsenal and the confidence that comes from his divisional title last season, the question becomes: is he TOO confident in his ability? Everyone seems to be writing Century off, but I'm going to pick a surprise opening week upset here.

Tori's Pick: Super Century, 12:20, C+

Diamond (0-0, 15%) vs. Maxx Skabb (0-0, 15%)

(Career Series: Diamond, 1-0)

It was season one, week ten when Diamond pulled off a win in eight and a half minutes, in the northern part of the UK. Here, this is an area much more suited to Diamond's ability, plus Maxx's primary finisher is banned. I'm surprised that so many people are picking Maxx; I'm going to have to go against them on this one. Diamond goes to 2-0 against Skabb with a closely-fought win and help from her new manager, Jayde.

Tori's Pick: Diamond, 14:20, B

Tarik Nolan (0-0, 15%) vs. Sean (0-0, 15%)

(Career Series: Sean, 2-1)

These two were divisional rivals last season, splitting the season series. Sean also holds a season one victory over Nolan, but after the performances last season I see Nolan evening up this series.

Tori's Pick: Tarik Nolan, 10:40, C-

Scott Stevens (0-0, 14%) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (0-0, 18%)

(Career Series: Stevens, 1-0)

The bandwagon seems to be out in force, with a lot of people getting behind Demonio in what is essentially his home region. However, people are neglecting the fact that Demonio lost to Stevens in the season opener last season; history once more repeats this season.

Tori's Pick: Scott Stevens, 9:40, D

Ezekial Kerghan (0-0, 19%) vs. Ian Carlisle (0-0, 15%)

(Career Series: First Meeting)

And in a bit of irony, both League Rookies this season meet up in the main event of the opening week. How's that for showcasing new talent? In any event, as not much is known about either man, I'm going to go against the prevailing tide on this one.

Tori's Pick: Ian Carlisle, 11:10, C

And with that, folks, the wait is almost over. Here's to another four months of League action. Until Saturday night, this is Tori Montgomery...so long from ringside!

Johnny Triumph (0-0, 6%) vs. SGRaaize (0-0, 9%)

CAGE MATCH: Thor Hammerskald (0-0, 16%) vs. Robbie Maynard (0-0, 9%)

Sebastian Moore (0-0, 15%) vs. The Phoenix (0-0, 15%)

Super Century (0-0, 15%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (0-0, 15%)

Diamond (0-0, 15%) vs. Maxx Skabb (0-0, 15%)

Tarik Nolan (0-0, 15%) vs. Sean (0-0, 15%)

Scott Stevens (0-0, 14%) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (0-0, 18%)

Also, as a quick note to the summary above, Thor's got two MOTN awards under his belt rather than one. I'm quite happy to be in a cage in Mexico, as well, because I'm fairly certain my second finisher is a martinete...

Edit: Ace! Buddy! How's the Colonel doing? ;)

Nuclear's warpath begins again... this time, it's impersonal. :p

ShadowedFlames, noticed a minor error with the money values next to Nuclear's chain wrestling skill, seems to be showing up 1 level below what it should be. Not at all important, I just want everyone to know that I'm paying super attention to this in preparation for Nuclear obliterating Super Century... and then his old frenemy SG Raaize. :)

Weaknesses: Flies like a lead balloon, has the athleticism of a slug. This may be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about Skabb, and got to keep their spleen. Aww! lol

Johnny Triumph (0-0, 6%) vs. SGRaaize (0-0, 9%)

My technical abilities will be tested on the first show, and I don't they'l pass the test, history of this matchup comes at 1-1, I think I will win based on my strength and popularity alone

CAGE MATCH: Thor Hammerskald (0-0, 16%) vs. Robbie Maynard (0-0, 9%)

The History of this match up comes with Robbie Maynard winning 1-0, Thor has had a record of one win and one loss in this Stipulation, but Thor's popularity makes me think he'l win here.

Sebastian Moore (0-0, 15%) vs. The Phoenix (0-0, 15%)

They never faced before, they have equal popularity, their styles don't outclass each other, both lost to Johnny Triumph on the Playoffs, overall, this is the most interesting matchup of the show. I'l bet on Sebastian Moore purely because I like him more than The Phoenix

Super Century (0-0, 15%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (0-0, 15%)

They never faced before, but Nuclear Templeton's strength outmatch Super Century's weaknesses and Super Century's strengths can't touch Nuclear Templeton's weaknesses, in short... LARIAAAAAAAATO~~~~~~

Diamond (0-0, 15%) vs. Maxx Skabb (0-0, 15%)

Last time these fighters faced, over at Season 1, Diamond won against Maxx Stabb, although Skabb has weak resillence according to OP, I can't help but think he'l win against Diamond anyways, MOTN, probably

Tarik Nolan (0-0, 15%) vs. Sean (0-0, 15%)

Sean defeated Tarik Nolan twice, he'l do the same here

Scott Stevens (0-0, 14%) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (0-0, 18%)

El Demonio de Sangre has the reputation advantage, but Scott Stevens is the best fighter, and according to the OP, can take a beating, I am 80% sure Stevens will win

Ezekial Kerghan (0-0, 19%) vs. Ian Carlisle (0-0, 15%)

Two rookies which we know nothing about, I predict Ian purely on the fact I like Jack of All Trades more than Psychos

By the way, I liked how you added these tidbits about the characters, ShadowedFlames, I think it adds to their personality more than promos, and makes me more interested in the show overall.

Edit: Looking at the schedule, I just noticed my match in Europe is gonna be against Nuclear Templeton, **** no!!!

Week 12: Paris, France... Lariat vs Lariat... in front of a bunch of people near your home country... it's so on!

Week 3: Ezekial Kerghan... hardcore rules... it's gonna get violent! :D

Week 8: In Canada... in a cage... Sean... will get beaten so bad he might remember he has a last name. ;)
