How does it fare in comparison to Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk?

I'm really looking forward to Thor (and the other upcoming super hero movies, for that matter).

Well, I'm shocked to see it getting the positive reviews it has. As someone who was just casually offered the presidency of the SHSU Viking Society (to which I declined, lol), it IS a film I have a bit of interest in...

Buuuuut I'll still probably wait until it comes out on DVD. That said, I've gone from "this is gonna suck, no way am I watching it" to "yeah, guess I'll have to catch it at some point".

I don't know whether you're familiar with the comic book version of Thor or not, but don't expect it to have ANYTHING to do with vikings and Norse mythology except for the names.

I thought Thor was cool. Not a huge fan of him but it was fun to watch and fun to see that my friend enjoyed it, he's a big Thor fan.

My own favoritism towards Hulk makes me like almost any of movies made for him though. It makes me sad most people don't like Hulk (with Eric Bana) or even the new one with Ed Norton. However, I do realize why the first one wasn't that great but the latest one was so much better.

Just don't have him clad in the same thing Marvel does (but I mean.... He has to wear armor from that era, so I mean... It's still going to be something like it). He's always been described to look about the same as well.... I mean, I don't think I've ever heard him described with curly black hair and a beard (although Heracle's would fit that bill).

I loved both Hulk movies, with a slight leaning toward the Eric Bana one due to the comic book esque multi-shots and unique wipes.

Ghost's Review

So I saw Thor last night, and I must say that they did a pretty good job on the movie. I am not saying its something I will watch 5 more times, but they didnt disappoint. But what I am most impressive with the storyline behind "Loki". As if everyone knows, Loki couldnt stand a chance against Thor, especially in Thor's Rage mode. But in the movie they actually made him look like a LEGITIMATE THREAT.

GHOST

p.s. I also saw the preview for Green Lantern and Cap America. They BOTH look BAD @$$! Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds has the dubious honor of playing not one Comic Book Characters but 2. Reynolds as Deadpool and Green Lantern, and Evans as Jonny Blaze/Human Torch and Cap America..

Ok.

oh and PSS. For those who are TRULY Marvel Fans. A certain "Avenger" makes an appearance. And he is only revealed by his "Signature WEAPON"

I am sorry that you guys have been overdosed by geekdom ;)

For setting up the Avenger movie, I thought it was fine. For setting up a Thor movie franchise, I think it fell short. I have higher hopes for Captain America b/c I think his story has more human draws to it (like Iron Man and Spiderman) than Thor.

Sure, it wasn't as good as Iron Man - but few superhero movies are.

I thought Thor was alright. It was pretty funny. Didn't like the romance angle in it at all. Agree with I like how Loki was used in the movie.

The X-Men 1st class movie looks good. That was one of the previews we had. We also had the Captain America preview. For some reason we didn't get the Green Lantern preview though.

Will still watch it... because I'm a comic book geek, but am cautious it won't meet my expectations.

Not quite sure what I feel about this movie. I did finally pick up his Essential Volume 1 on Friday after having intended to since before I knew there would be a movie. But he's not necessarily Anybody to me and the fact that the same folks made the Iron Man movies does little to sway me. Iron Man is a junk character to me. I'm more likely to figure out how to yodel effectively in text than I am to ever use those movies as a frame of reference.

I saw it yesterday and was thought it was pretty great, much better than I had dared hope for. I'd even go as far as saying that it's about right up there next to the first Iron Man, and heaps better than Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk (the latter which I re-watched today, still a decent superhero flick). It will be pretty hard for Captain American to follow this one...
