With work and school kicking my butt I'm not on here near as much as I should. I'm still going to try and review the occasional movie, but I suggest having someone take over the reigns or make it a community thing or something

What’s this? Is someone going for the big budget Superhero film? Lets hope it pays off.

Don’t know whether these effects still apply, but figured I could just post the film and it can be decided when it is reviewed because I am putting this film out now regardless of whether the effects are still valid.

Effects:

-Ascending Numbers Production has now cemented themselves as the number 1 company in the world and as a result they can hire any cast member at half price until they fall from the top position. (I have NOT accounted for this in costs. If it does still apply just say that the money saved is split evenly between Production & Marketing)

-All Movies filmed this week by Ascending Numbers Production will automatically be bumped up 1 production level regardless of how much is actually spend on production.

-Ascending Numbers Production will see an increase in advertisement and less money will go a longer way than before.

Trends: (What I am trying to capitalise on.):

-The film market is ripe for a successful big budget superhero movie. The first 4 star or higher rated superhero movie with a sizable production budget ($15,000,000 or greater) will receive a substantial revenue bonus.

Studio – Ascending Numbers Productions

Pre-Filming Bank Balance - $37’766’500

Title- Code Red

Lead Actor- Ben Affleck (75’000)

Lead Actress- Jennifer Love Hewitt (40’000)

Supporting Actors- Joseph Fiennes (30’000???), Michael Caine (30’000), Denzel Washington (150’000)

Supporting Actress- Kate Beckinsale (60’000???)

Director – Christopher Nolan (250’000)

Genre- Superhero

Plot- Chris Parker (Ben Affleck) is a soldier in the U.S Army, currently fighting in the Middle East. The film opens with Chris, along with other soldiers, in a Jeep, carrying out a routine patrol of a local area. The group share banter, and a mocking mention is given to Chris wanting to be a superhero, and that his dad is building a costume. However things quickly turn for the worse when the Jeep is attacked and damaged and a gunfight ensues. Several of the soldiers are killed in the battle; that leaves only Chris & one other soldier Blake (Ralph Fiennes) alive.

The pair receive orders over the radio to retreat, however Blake proclaims that he is going to stay and fight despite Chris’s urges to follow the command. Chris eventually retreats (on foot, since the vehicle is damaged), leaving behind Blake, who is screaming that Chris is a coward as he runs away.

Chris finds himself lost in a vast desert area, having lost communication with the base. After days of walking, and verging on dehydration, Chris sees a small cave in the distance, and runs to explore it. Once inside he explores, but finds nothing, as he is about to leave he falls through the sand, and into a large cavern.

Inside the cavern is many large statues of Greek gods, and an old book on an alter. Once he has recovered from the fall he admires the large statues, before noticing the book. He reads the contents out loud, the general message is “Whoever finds this book has been selected by the gods above, and will be granted the powers to become the hero the world needs.” As soon as he has finished reading a bright flash of light appears, and an earthquake begins that brings down the entire cavern, seemingly crushing Chris.

The next scene opens with bright light above, and things coming back into focus (meant to portray Chris’s eyes opening). It is revealed that Chris is in hospital. Upon noticing that he is now awake Chris’s girlfriend Zoey (Jennifer Love Hewitt) rushes over to hug him, and reveals that Chris was at the centre of an earthquake, which nearly killed him, but luckily allowed him to be found by Seismologists. Chris reveals what happened before the earthquake, but doctors say that it is probably a hallucination that occurred while he was unconscious. The doctors also reveal that it will require lots of physical therapy before Chris can expect to live a normal life again.

However, in the first session of therapy Chris quickly displays he still has the ability to function normally, shocking the doctors. He then undergoes a series of physical tests, which reveal that he is able to run faster, and lift more weight then any human could. This stuns doctors, but Chris is able to discharge himself before Doctors can run more tests. He travels home with Zoey, who now believes Chris about the events in the cave.

Chris returns home to find several letters from the Army, informing him that due to recent events he has been discharged. The letters also reveal that Blake was discharged for ignoring orders. Chris then goes to his (adoptive) father’s house. It is there that it is revealed that Chris was adopted, after his parents died. Chris’s dad, Michael (Michael Caine), is revealed to be a scientist/inventor, and reveals he has something to show Chris. It is a full armour bodysuit (think & black coloured Iron-Man suit), that is apparently a design Chris made when he was a kid, dreaming of being a superhero. But the suit is not safe for use as it uses harmful chemicals, something Michael is trying to find an alternative for. After talking about Chris’s experiences at war, Michael reveals that Blake has called several times while he was unconscious, asking for Chris to visit him at the local prison.

While visiting Blake the pair get into a heated argument, with Blake accusing Chris of leaving him to die, and that while Chris got a honourable discharge that entitles him to free medical care and a good pay-off, he had to resort to petty crimes which landed him in prison, all because he fought for his country.

While Chris is at home, with Zoey, coming to grips with his new life, he is visited several times by eager reporter Georgina Spector (Kate Beckinsale), looking for an interview with the real-life Superhuman, but Chris keeps turning her away. This makes Chris realise that he could live his dream as a super-hero, and begins designing a costume (a red body suit, with a Greek symbol on the front). He gives himself the name “Code Red”

He quickly gains fame for catching small criminals, but does not reveal to anyone that he is taking advantage of his powers (which appear to be increased Speed, Strength & Durability). But things turn sour when a TV special comes on (produced by Georgina Spector), revealing that Chris is in fact “Code Red”. Zoey walks out on Chris, because he lied to her and because now he is living such a dangerous life: that endangers both Chris & the people around him.

The next day Chris is visited by the police chief (Denzel Washington) who informs Chris that there was recently a break-out at the prison, lead by Blake. Chris is being informed because the break-out happened shortly after the TV report aired, and it is believed they could be coming after Chris.

Chris instantly rushes to check on Zoey, but finds she is gone, and there are signs of a struggle. The phone rings, and it is revealed that Blake is responsible for the kidnapping, and that unless Chris is willing to use his powers “for the good of the few, not for the good of everyone” he will regret it, and the trials begin now. The only instruction, “Don’t stop it!”

Chris goes outside, and sees a bus go past at high speed, the driver apparently having lost control. Despite the warning not to stop the bus, Chris chases after the bus, and eventually manages to stop it, using all his strength (pushing the opposite direction to the bus’s direction), just before a pier, allowing the civilians to evacuate the bus, before letting it go into the sea. Chris then receives a phone call from Blake, who reveals that since Chris disobeyed him Zoey will be getting a ‘dishonourable discharge’ (a reference to Blake’s past), but Blake say’s he will be fair, and gives Chris 10 minutes to save who he loves & reveals where he is keeping Zoey.

Chris rushes to the location, and after a fight with many criminals that Blake enlisted for help, finds his way to Zoey and fights off the guards that were with her, but cannot find Blake, even after unmasking the guards (Much action here, just hard to type up a fight scene <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />. During the fight with the guards Chris is injured for the first time after being shot but it does not do as much damage as it would to a normal human, and soon heals (after some suspense whether he would be ok)).

However after he saves Zoey and the pair embrace, she reveals that Blake is with Michael. We cut to Michaels house, where we see Michael on the floor injured, before hearing (but not seeing) Blake proclaim that Chris obviously doesn’t love him enough to save. The camera pans away from Michael to the case where the armoured costume was being held, which is now empty, before hearing a single gun shot.

I might be able to take the reigns. Just need to sit down and honestly evaluate how much time I have. Will post again soon.

Any update? I am off for the night now, but thought I should ask so we hopefully have an idea of what's happening soon.

Ok, seems like I am the man in control.

Don't expect huge shake-ups or rule changes, I think we have a good rule set/schedule, so will be looking to keep them.

Right now I am getting myself organised, checking what movies need reviewing, catching up on actor requests, etc. And will hopefully get some reviews done later. :)

Any chance of some prices for Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless, the Hoff, Brent Spiner, Gary Busey and Jenna Jameson?

Can we use unknown directors? Steve Miner the director of Lake placid?

Spiner, Busey & Jameson were added earlier. The Hoff is also there. I will get Campbell & Lawless up later. You can always feel free to estimate in your movie post and it can be corrected if it is needed to be.

For some reason the document always messes up, so if you need to find someone go to "Edit">"Find & Replace" and just search for the persons name. I am considering a move away from Google docs, its really frustrating.

Avid user of Google docs here and have never had issues with it. What exactly keeps getting messed up?

Also, did some quick sorting, and cleaned up the random out of order actors and directors.

Fight Queen is the latest film released by Burning Pegasus Productions. While the film had the ability to be a cult classic, it was let down by some questionable casting and it's character development, or more accurately the lack of it. The lead character is Hope Alice (Allison Mack), an unsuccessful MMA fighter who manages to have a change in fortune under the guidance of an MMA legend (Wade Williams). While Williams played a passable ex-MMA star, Mack is unconvincing in the role of a fighter. Not for the lack of acting ability or heart, but for her look, which does not fit in an MMA environment.

There was also a slight lack of character development, with no reason to feel attached to Hope, other than the fact she is an underdog. We also have no real reason to dislike Hope's main opponent Angelica Valdez.

The casting of several WWE divas allowed the film to gain a bit of extra publicity. However there were several questions from the MMA community over Kharma's casting, as in no way would a fight between Kharma & Michelle Rodriguez be a fair fight in terms of weight classes.

Due to clever marketing the film managed to turn a small profit, but could have achieved a lot more, both critically and at the box-office.

I sorted out the order many times, saved it, closed it, went back to it 10 mins later and everythings out of place again (but this time in a different wrong place). It seems fine at the minute after your edits, so hopefully it stays that way. Thanks for your help. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
