I agree with JShmoopy, too, about the PPV. I favor the storytelling over the mastery of the game engine by a longshot. You've inspired my first diary, which I am hard at work on. Keep it up, Self.</p>

<p>With DQs hurting more than a regular loss (which is the only reason Shaffer is trailing behind Zeus at the moment), I'm intrigued to see if any of the heels (or even the more cunning faces ) attempt to pull an Eddie Guerrero by tricking the referee into disqualifying their opponents. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>SOOTHSAYER</p><p>

I see the future. By now, so do some of you. Alex and Jack DeColt have</p><p>

felt the wrath of Poison and fled this place... but you know as well as I</p><p>

do that we haven’t seen the last of them. No matter the odds. DeColts </p><p>

It's almost as though Soothsayer knows exactly what Donte's going to do, the way he casually avoids the athletic attacks and strikes out with sharp jabs and stinging kicks. Dropsault! Seated Face Plant! Donte fires back with a few big right hands, and goes for Sunny Daze (Airplane Spin into a Lariat) but Soothsayer ducks the lariat, scores an overhead kick, and hits the Harbinger (Flying Flip Neckbreaker) for the win.</p><p> </p><p>

JENNY PLAYMATE interviews RICKY DECOLT.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>JENNY PLAYMATE</p><p>

They took out Alex. They took out Jack. Ricky DeColt, what are you</p><p>

going to do about Poison and Soothsayer?</p><p> </p><p>

RICKY DECOLT</p><p>

Same thing I’ve been trying to do for the past few weeks; Win the</p><p>

Ultimate Showdown Series. First wish? I get my hands on Soothsayer. </p><p>

Second wish? I get my hands on Poison. </p><p> </p><p>

JENNY PLAYMATE</p><p>

You’re kinda behind on points though. Do you think your lack of </p><p>

submission skills are holding you back?</p><p> </p><p>

RICKY DECOLT</p><p>

Honestly, if you’d asked me that question a few weeks ago, I’d have</p><p>

said No, but the numbers don’t lie. Even if Zeus is out of the picture,</p><p>

guys like Deeley and Shaffer are going to keep getting submission</p><p>

victories. They’ll keep outpacing me. Not to mention Thomas or</p><p>

McClean or Johnson... </p><p> </p><p>

So I’m turning over a new leaf. A new and improved Ricky DeColt.</p><p>

2 Fast 2 Ricky. A Ricky DeColt who doesn’t just knock you out, but</p><p>

taps you out too. I’ve been studying Jack’s old matches all week,</p><p>

and now Nate Johnson’s going to see first hand what I learned.</p><p> </p><p>

Ricky erupts with high-intensity, high-risk offense, including some epic dropkicks. He goes up for the High Fly Elbow, but Johnson grabs his leg. Dragon Screw! Showing off for the cameras and smiling an insincere smile, Nate works over the leg with fancy holds until DeColt battles back with powerful, but limping offense. Running Bulldog! High Fly Elbow! </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><em>“One Minute Remaining”</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Ricky tries to lock in End of Days (Bow & Arrow Dragon Sleeper) but can’t seem to figure out how to apply it, especially given the struggling Johnson’s mat prowess. Time is running out- DeColt 45 (Roll Inverted DDT) A frustrated Ricky DeColt gets the 1... 2... 3!</p><p> </p><p>

The Ultimate Showdown Series is one of the most grueling periods</p><p>

of the CGC calendar. With so many wrestlers competing in so many</p><p>

intense matches, injuries are inevitable. Unfortunately, at last Friday’s</p><p>

‘In The Company Of Legends’ event, Zeus Maxmillion suffered one </p><p>

such injury.</p><p> </p><p>

Tonight, Zeus is scheduled to take on my client, Sean Deeley, but I</p><p>

sincerely hope that match doesn’t take place. I hope Zeus does the</p><p>

right thing for his health, and forfeits the match, and quits the Ultimate</p><p>

Showdown Series. Sean Deeley does not want to further exacerbate</p><p>

Zeus’s injury... but he will. Stay in the back, Zeus. It’s for your own good. </p><p> </p><p>

Mortals watch in awe as ZEUS MAXMILLION makes his way to the ring, his injured left arm hanging limply at his side. </p><p> </p><p>

Zeus throws strikes, but unable to use his trademark left hand, he’s helpless against Deeley’s takedowns. Zeus steadfastly protects his left arm, so Deeley attacks the knee instead, twisting it at unholy angles. As soon as Zeus puts the slightest bit of focus on defending the knee, Deeley pounces for the arm and gets it, mercilessly attacking every single joint.</p><p> </p><p>

Zeus summons godlike strength to power free and launch Shooter across the ring with hiptosses and right-handed throws. He goes for Thunder Bolt (Sit Out Bomb) but Deeley twists out and pounces! Seated Arm Stretch! Roaring with pain, Zeus struggles towards the ropes, but Deeley constantly shifts his weight to prevent it. Instead, Zeus fights up to a knee and rains down right hands, forcing Deeley to release the hold. Twisting Spinebuster! 1... 2... Kick out! Olympian Clutch (Camel Clutch)!</p><p> </p><p>

<em><strong>Davis Ditterich</strong></em><em> "He's got it locked in! Will Sean Deeley tap?"</em></p><p> </p><p>

Deeley screams in pain, but Zeus' mighty grip wavers thanks to the injured arm. Sensing the weakness, Deeley twists, pops his hips, transitions and gets the Seated Arm Stretch! Zeus fights and fights and... taps! </p><p> </p><p>

Disappointed in the final grade there. Seeing Soothsayer nail that promo and Deeley/Zeus put on a really good main event, I’d hoped for a B. Oh well. The fact I can get cracking grades without Alex & Jack DeColt on the show is... Hmm... Maybe The Future is brighter than it seems.</p><p> </p><p>

Lot of people tripped up on the predictions this week, with upsets aplenty. A lot of faith in Zeus despite going up against a submission expert with a bum elbow, and... okay, I can’t blame anyone for not seeing the Pow Wow & Stevie victories. </p><p> </p><p>

Prediction table will come eventually.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Nice main event. Zeus can really deliver in the main event which is nice. He and Eddie Chandler almost pulled a B+ on Title Bout for me and that was with no chemistry involved. A good alternative to the DeColts in the main event as far as the face side goes.</p><p> </p><p>

<p>Yeah, now that I think about it, I probably shouldn't be rooting for Pow Wow to win the USS. If he wins, he gets to stop being a clown, and I'd stop caring about him......</p><p> </p><p>

Well, then I'll root for him to win 1st runner-up instead! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

And I guess my previous idea of guys using Eddie Guerrero tactics to get DQ wins doesn't make much sense, on second thoughts, since DQ winners don't seem to gain anything themselves. Unless they bear so much of a grudge that they just want to screw the other guy out of a win (maybe a personal rivalry like Johnson/McClean).</p><p> </p><p>

Of course, I guess a more effective tactic would be to run in during the rival's match and slap his opponent to cause the DQ......hey that may even happen to someone like Zeus if whomever that's directly below him in score (in this case Deeley) wants to overtake him!</p><p> </p><p>

Gotta say, I love the way you slip little things into matches and angles to really give everyone their own character. It feels a little above and beyond but it adds so much. Like Stevie Grayson's "ducks, dives, dodges" etc (I can't remember the whole thing) or the little move sequences that appear every time. It's certainly something I'd like to try to emulate when I get back to writing.</p>

Davis Ditterich “Tonight, Sean Deeley takes on Ricky DeColt in the Ultimate Showdown Series, and we have Zeus Maxmillion with us on commentary to discuss it. Zeus, how’s the elbow?”

Zeus Maxmillion “The injury I have suffered at the hands of the puny mortal Deeley will not go unpunished, but The Bronzed God must keep his focus and win enough ‘points’ to complete my labour and gain my wishes.”

Catherine Quine “The other competitors are closing in and nipping at your heels, but can one of them take the lead tonight?”

Zeus Maxmillion “The puny mortal Stevie has struggled without the Bronzed God at his side, but he won a mighty victory last week. He must continue to fight harder, lest he be banished from this place.”

Whippy plays him for a fool with tumbling and simple mime tricks. Stevie dodges, ducks, dips, dives and dodges. Both men go for wacky, high-flying rolls up. Whippy goes for a second-rope HuraClownRana but Stevie holds on and Whippy crashes and burns. Tornado DDT! 1... 2... 3!

Zeus Maxmillion “I am pleased the puny mortal could fight his own battle this time.”

ADRIAN GARCIA

Last week, I begged Zeus Maxmillion to protect his injury and leave

the Ultimate Showdown Series, but sadly he refused. Sean Deeley made

him pay for that refusal. Zeus may still top the leaderboard, but his time

of winning points is done. By the time this series is over, one man will be

at the top, and his name is Sean Deeley. Last week he took out Zeus.

Tonight he does the same to-

RICKY DECOLT

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Ottawa! This is DECOLT COUNTRY!

Sean Deeley, you’re an amazing submission artist. You do things in

that ring that I simply can’t wrap my head around. Which makes it all

the more disappointing that you’re a total jerk and a coward. When I

look in your eyes, all I see is fear. You were afraid of Zeus Maxmillion,

and you’re afraid of me.

SEAN DEELEY

i’m not afraid of you, ricky, because you’re not a threat to me. your

win/loss record is impressive, but i’m destroying you on points. one

simple reason. submissions. i’m a master. you don’t know a monoplata

from a peruvian necktie. you’ll never win the ultimate showdown series

without tapping someone out, ricky, and it’ll be a cold day in hell before

you tap me out.

Jenny Playmate “The Ultimate Showdown Series is heating up. Let’s see what happened at Twin Elm Park yesterday.”

NATE JOHNSON locks on a Half Crab. POW WOW fights and struggles and survives until the time limit expires. (Both men earn 1 point)

ZEUS MAXMILLION tries to apply the Olympian Clutch, but JOHN McCLEAN attacks his injured left arm and locks on a Cross Armbreaker. Zeus roars in pain and taps! (John McClean earns 3 points)

JOHN McCLEAN

What can I say? I saw a weakness and I went for it. Just like every

wrestler worth his salt would have done.

Skip Beau & Shane Nelson

S&S EXPRESS

Davis Ditterich “Soothsayer has shown himself to be quite the formidable fighter in his own right. Who can beat this terrifying duo?”

It's almost as though Soothsayer knows exactly what Nelson's going to do, the way he casually avoids the dropkicks and monkey flips and strikes out with sharp jabs and stinging kicks. Dropsault! Seated Face Plant! Beau rushes in, but nothing seems to work against Poison, who takes him apart with deadly right hands. Poison Mist! Skip is blind! Soothsayer hits the Harbinger (Flying Flip Neckbreaker) for the pin.

YOUR WINNERS... SOOTHSAYER & POISON (6:24)

Following Soothsayer’s command, Poison advances on Shane Nelson in the corner and starts stomping at his unprotected head. Over and over and over and-

THRILL SEEKER sprints down to ringside and flies off the top rope with a huge missile dropkick. Poison is staggered, but doesn’t go down. Thrill Seeker quickly grabs Shane Nelson and flees up the ramp.

Davis Ditterich “It looked like Shane was going to suffer the same fate as Alex DeColt, but his ex-Youth Energy partner has come to the rescue!”

I hate to admit it, but I think Adrian Garcia may be right. I need submission

victories. I can’t win the Ultimate Showdown Series without them. Ideally,

I’d ask Jack for help, but he’s not here. So I guess you’re the next best

thing. Can you help me?

JENNY PLAYMATE glares at TRENT SHAFFER.

TRENT SHAFFER

What? Oh, right. Didn't I slap you once?

JENNY PLAYMATE

Trent Shaffer, you've been a cheating scumbag throughout the Ultimate

Showdown Series. Next week you take on Zeus Maxmillion, and I hope

he kicks your ass.

TRENT SHAFFER

There's... there's not even a question, is there?

Jenny Playmate just walks away.

TRENT SHAFFER

Zeus Maxmillion may have looked like a God at the start of this series,

but he’s looking plenty mortal now. He’s hurt. I smell the blood in the

water, and I'm drawn to it with a furious hunger. I’m the world’s most

dangerous predator, and next week The Bronzed God is my prey.

Weighing in at 240lbs. From DeColt Country, Vancouver, British

Columbia. Currently on 7pts. ‘The Man Without Fear’

RICKY DECOLT

Zeus Maxmillion “House Elite and House DeColt have been at war for many moons. Will Deeley’s knowledge of what mortals call ‘submissions’ be the key?”

Ricky avoids takedowns and strikes out with leg-kicks. Deeley gets frustrated, careless, allowing Ricky to unleash high-risk high-intensity offense. Epic Dropkick. He tries to apply End Of Days (Bow & Arrow Dragon Sleeper) but can't understand Marie’s ringside instructions. Deeley pops his hips and launches him with a vicious suplex. Deeley stalks his prey, pouncing repeatedly for the left arm and twisting it at unholy angles. Ricky fights free and goes for a Figure Four Leglock, but again gets confused. Deeley takes back control, mercilessly attacking every single joint of the arm. A throat thrust gives Ricky some space, he takes a risk with a dropkick in the corner... It pays off! Running Bulldog.

“One Minute Remaining”

High Fly Elbow. 1... 2... DeColt gives up the pin and goes for the End of Days again. He just can't figure it out. He tries a cross armbreaker instead, but lacks the expertise to apply it on a struggling Deeley. Sudden German Suplex! 1... Kick out! Deeley holds on for a second German Suplex! 1... 2... Kick out! Deeley goes for a third, but Ricky counters into into a wheelbarrow roll-up! 1... 2... 3!

EARNING 2 POINTS VIA PINFALL

RICKY DECOLT (9:51)

Davis Ditterich “Ricky pulls out a win with seconds to go, but an extra submission point would have tied him to the leaders. Zeus still tops the table, but he isn't alone any more. Trent Shaffer is right there with him.”

I can’t tell if it’s ironic or apt in Ricky DeColt ‘improved technical skills’ in a match where he couldn’t figure out how to apply a cross armbreaker. A decent enough show, but apparently we lost popularity, so it must have been a low B-. Could Ricky be a worse headliner than Zeus?

So ends June, the first 6 months of booking, and the first 30 shows. CGC haven’t been the most profitable company, losing money most months, although June’s $5,000 profit could be a good sign for the future. We’re doing better than other companies. One American promotion lost $100,000 this month. That’s what you get for hiring a bloated roster of all those young future stars.

Skills are advancing as well as you’d expect for the first 6 months of a game. Lots of top row F’s becoming E’s. Big improvements in my midcard entertainment skills. In private games I usually let the DeColts do the talking, and apparently the previous regime did the same because several midcarders are flourishing by just getting the stick once in a while. Ultimate Showdown Series participants in particular (Jenny Playmate is more than just a pretty face) One upper midcarder is rocketing up in psychology too. He’ll be even more useful than he already is if this continues. It’s just a shame I’ve got Fog of War on. Can’t see how some of the younger projects are doing.

@Rayalek I look at Stevie's dodge line, or Alex's pinpoint counterpunches, or Christian Price's europeans and akin to John Cena's "5-moves-of-doom". People use the term as an insult, but it's one of those things that makes him a wonderful performer. I figure CGC is a company that follows that philosophy. Everyone is a 5-moves-of-doom guy. Safe. Effective. Familiar. It makes it easier to write matches too. Almost drag & drop at times.

I have found a few people that can be better options than Ricky to be honest. Then again in the case of my CGC game he has had the horrible luck of negative chem popping up all over the place. That is one thing I love about the pre show. I am starting to find out more and more what can work and who might earn a push in the future or not.
