D-Lyrium
Any BB players on the forum? For those not aware: Blood Bowl was a tabletop game set in the Warhammer world, where fantasy races play a violent, deadly sport which is sort of an almagamation of rugby and American Football. As with all Games Workshop games it's dice-based, but also as with all GW games there's a tonne of strategy involved too (it's based around the idea of 'creating your own luck', essentially using strategies which give you the best odds possible for performing a certain action, and putting contingency plans in place for if it goes wrong). It's great fun. Anyway, in 2005(?) Cyanide Studios blatantly ripped it off by creating a PC game called Chaos League, which was fantastic. GW found out, sued them, and as part of the legal agreement Cyanide were obliged to make an actual, licensed Blood Bowl game, which they did. It's been out for a while, and the latest version - Chaos Edition - is fantastic. It's essentially the tabletop version on a PC. As close as possible, anyway. It uses all the tabletop rules (so much so that the "tutorial" quotes from the tabletop manual, excerpts of the backstory in the manual are referenced in the commentary, and the "in-depth" tutorial is an actual .pdf of the tabletop manual!). I might stream it tonight if there are no technical issues. Maybe we could get a GDS Bloodbowl League going. Online multiplayer is pretty awesome, and extensive as far as online leagues go. You can play one-off games, or set up/join public or private leagues with an insane amount of options. And just like the tabletop game, your players 'level up' and gain skills and stuff as you progress. So yeah, anyone playing? Wallbanger
We had an online league going about a year ago - great fun. There was an attempt to revive it a few weeks back (I even upgraded my base license to Chaos Edition) but it never seemed to take off. D, next time we're on IRC together I'll give you my Steam ID and we can have a go with either stock teams around the same TV or created TV1000 teams. EDIT: Here's the original thread -- more like three years ago, not one (!!). http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65559 Will go find the first attempt to revive and add here. EDIT 2: The most recent attempt to revive: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=521920&highlight=Blood+Bowl
Dragonmack
I played it on PSP, was awesome but wanted more races. There's a PC version of the game that has at least 23 races ( made by the same people that did the PSP game, so its basically same game, but with better graphics, interface, etc.) I got the legendary edition which came out a couple years ago but honestly dont play it that much. Too many games and too little time.
infinitywpi
And it's horribly programmed. The developers had no clue how to do a decent UI or networking code, and it almost feels like they left debugging code in because it moves so damn slow, even on single-player... D-Lyrium
I thought it was odd that we 'didn't have a thread' about it yet. I must've missed that one. Ah well. And infinity, what's wrong with the UI exactly? The only bad design choice I can see is having white text on a transparent background in the log. And online the game is only as slow as your opponent. infinitywpi
I'm mainly bitter about them getting me to buy the game full of bugs, only fix about half of them, then have the gall to have me buy the game again thinking they'd fixed things... but a lot of the same bugs were there. Plus, the damn thing should have given me more than 2-3 fps on the hardware it was running on. I think it's a case of "The dev team were good, but hadn't quite gotten to the level of being professional yet." But, hey, if you wanna play Blood Bowl, it's pretty much your best options outside of playing the real thing.

MaxxHexx
I would join the league. I only have Legendary Edition, is that compatable with Chaos Edition? I work most the next 12 hours, but can play while I work. PM me or give me a shout in the TEW IRC chat if you want a game.
infinitywpi
It's been a while, but there were skills that didn't work correctly, rolls that didn't occur when they were supposed to, chat-box issues during games... honestly, I think it's been a year and a half, at least, since I last played. Might give it a try if I get a new laptop soon, maybe it just needed more oomph than an i5 could give it...

D-Lyrium
I figure that if we start a league, we can do it on the 'free' setting, meaning that we can arrange matches whenever we like and aren't forced to play by a certain time. Blackman
Too bad I don't have the game. . Actually looks interesting. Well, it's only 10$ or something, so just buy it? I was thinking on buying the game for a long time, but I just can't stomach the multitude of bugs. I have a long history with the programmers as I played their cycling manager series for about 10 years. As there was no alternative, I had to put up with the crap they released, but damn it. Nowhere have aI ever seen such incompetence when it comes to fixing bugs. It's like they don't even playtest their stuff when it gets released. Even after 8 years, there were still bugs that were left untouched. They just don't seem to care. Blood Bowl is probably great fun if you could look past those bugs, but I for one won't buy unless it's less than 5€. And I believe it was on the latest steam sale, but that was on the legendary. D-Lyrium
Ok, so by my count there are 5 people that would be interested in playing, plus two more that have the game but may not be. With that in mind I've set up a 6-player league (this can be changed). It's called 'The Grey Dog Blood Bowl League', oddly enough, and is set up as a double round-robin single-division championship (meaning one league where we play each other twice), where the top two teams play off for the title. Password is 'tew2013'. It's set up so that you can only join with a new, freshly-created team (well, not necessarily, but the max team value is 1000 so it can't be a team that's advanced a lot). To join, just go into the game, create your team. Because the game automatically registers you in the Auld World league you'll need to go to Leagues, and pick your team from the dropdown at the bottom, hit Quit League (which will pop up next to the dropdown). Then just go to the League Finder, select your team, find The Grey Dog Blood Bowl League, and hit Join. Don't forget to let me know your team and coach names in this thread so I can accept you. It's a Free Scheduling league which means games can be played whenever, they don't have to be done by a certain day or in a certain order (so if, say, me and Wallbanger want to play both of our games back to back because we have a few hours spare, we can, but likewise if, say, maxx can't get on all week, he's not holding anyone else up). My team is Brute Force & Ignorance, a Dwarf team.
bestbitter
Just applied to join, Team name is Moria's Mob and is a Dwarf team too! I can change if you want some different teams in it because I'm equally bad with all teams!

D-Lyrium
Nah, it's cool, we can wait. I think. ¬_¬ I mean, it's not like we can't play BB outside of the league.
