Boo yeah! Pawent wins! :D

Great show again.

Thanks guys, I think you are going to like what I have planned for the next couple of shows. :D

They're only happy about it because they didn't actually have to see Alan Parent wrestle. :p

You can't trust what those Florida Bay fans think, they don't appreciate the art form of Puroresu wrestling. I saw that match and I can reliably inform you that is was a Puroresu masterpiece.... honest! :p

I believe when Awan Pawent purveys it, it is called Puwowesu.

I'm still reading, but I'm finding the real heart of this story in the enjoyably deluded backstage and field report sections.

“The Road Ahead”

I couldn’t help but feel buoyed by the success of ‘Covert Operations’, as we kicked April off with a bang. ‘Covert Operations’ was generally considered to be the second best show we’ve put out, with only ‘Law & Order’ bettering it for content. While Nomad and Cal Sanders couldn’t quite match their efforts at Law & Order, they nonetheless did a great job in the Main Event and now hold the top two spots in the promotions best matches list.

While we couldn’t maintain the bumper crowd that we drew for ‘Mission Impossible’, it looks like we did manage to hold on to a few of the new fans that attended that show. While this does suggest that the bumper crowd of 46 for ‘Mission Impossible’ was a one off, we can take heart that a crowd of 28 is still nearly double what we were drawing less than a month ago.

‘Covert Operations’ also saw the end to the feud between the Paratroopers and Southern Hospitality. The feud began on our very first show, and stretched out over nearly five months. Southern Hospitality got their win; Tex Tagan has his hat back and is now ready to move on o pastures new. Exciting times ahead for him certainly...

"Operation Lullaby"

Case Notes – Entry #13

Filed By: Ted McCulloch

Florida Bay International Pro Wrestling: Espionage

Paradox vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling

[Two men who had contrasting fortunes at ‘Covert Operations’. Paradox found himself on the losing side of a six man tag match alongside his fellow Paratroopers, while Alan Parent picked up the biggest win of his FBI career to date against Skip Beau. Can the ‘Puroresu Star’ continue his momentum, or will Paradox get things back on track?]

Paranoia vs Davie Renleunn

[Davie Renluenn still feels aggrieved by Nomad’s supposed interference in his match with Skip Beau at ‘Mission Impossible’. A win here would surely help Renluenn in his quest for a title shot.]

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/CVFP_WhiteMale_079_zps534f9cb0.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/TexTagan_zps0f7e562b.jpg

Stanley Carpenter vs Tex Tagan

[Tex Tagan remained undefeated in FBI, as he was on the winning team of the big six-man tag team match at ‘Covert Operations’. Tagan, now reunited with his hat, returns to singles action at ‘Espionage’. Can the Texan continue his impressive win streak against youngster Stanley Carpenter?]

Paradigm vs Canadian Crusher

[These two men were on opposite sides of a six-man tag match at ‘Covert Operations’. Candian Crusher was on the winning side on that occasion. Will history repeat itself, or can Paradigm turn the tables to overcome a much larger opponent?]

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/Cverse_Rerender/jtlant/CalSanders_alt1jt.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/Cverse_Rerender/shipshirt/JoffyLaine_alt1.jpg

Cal Sanders vs Joffy Laine

[Cal Sanders was once again cheated out of his chance to become the FBI Heavyweight Champion at ‘Covert Operations’, as Nomad used the ropes for leverage to pick up what many are calling an undeserved victory. Joffy Laine fared better last time out, as he was on the winning side in a six-man tag match against the Paratroopers. Can Sanders get things back on track, or will Joffy Laine continue his recent winning run?]

Skip Beau vs Nomad ©

Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

[skip Beau came up short against Alan Parent last time out, but earned this title shot by defeating Davie Renluenn at ‘Mission Impossible’ one month ago. These two men have faced off twice before, with Nomad cheating on both occasions to retain his title. Has Skip Beau learned from his previous experiences, and does he have a plan to counter the dastardly Nomad?]

Florida Bay International Pro Wrestling: Espionage

Rainbow Bar & Grill, Florida Bay

Saturday W4, May

41 people showed up

Announce Team:

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/Cverse_Rerender/sebsplex/HarveyManners.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/EveRuncord_zpsa1ab512c.jpg

Harvey Manners: “Good Evening Ladies & Gentlemen, and welcome to ‘Espionage’! My name is Harvey Manners, and beside me at the announce desk tonight is the lovely Eve Runcord!”

Eve Runcord: “Thanks Harvey. There were a number of talking points coming out of ‘Covert Operations’ that I’m looking forward to being resolved. Nomad once again managed to underhandedly retain his Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship; will there be any retribution tonight? Will Davie Renluenn get the title shot he’s chasing? And with Tex Tagan and Joffy Laine putting the Paratroopers behind them, what’s next for the two Texans?”

Harvey Manners: “So many questions, but how many answers will we get tonight?”

Eve Runcord: “Well here comes a man who could give us his perspective on what happened in last month’s Main Event. Cal Sanders is on his way to the ring!”

Cal Sanders is indeed walking down to the ring, not rushing as he maintains a sense of calm that is so often missing in this industry. However before Sanders can even make it to the ring, Davie Renluenn has appeared from behind the curtain to, as he has done so many times in the past, interrupt Cal Sanders’ promo time before the Canadian has even had the chance to begin.

Davie Renluenn: “What are you doing out here again Cal? Are you out here to make another excuse as to why you lost against Nomad last month... again.”

The crowd immediately begin to boo this statement, while on commentary Eve Runcord notes that she can’t remember ever hearing Cal Sanders make an excuse for anything. In fact it is often Davie Renluenn who is the one coming up with the excuses...

Davie Renluenn: “I shouldn’t be surprised. I knew you’d lose last month... you’d lost to Nomad on more than one occasion before, and it was inevitable that it would happen again. Now... having seen this last time out, what do the geniuses in charge of booking this company do? They give another man who has come up short against the champion on multiple occasions another title shot, in some misplaced hope things will be different this time? Well it’s not going to happen.”

Renluenn pauses as the crowd reacts to his put down of Skip Beau’s chances in the Main Event. On commentary, Eve Runcord points out that one of Skip Beau’s previous losses to Nomad had been due to Renluenn himself interfering in the match.

Davie Renluenn: “So how about we stop wasting everybody’s time, and give the title shot to someone who actually deserves it? Someone who the champion has slighted in recent weeks? Someone who the champion is scared of? I mean why else would he actively cost me a number one contenders match for a shot at his title? Why don’t we give the title shot to someone like me? From what I’ve seen here at FBI, whenever anyone is cost a match due to interference they immediately get their chance at the interferer the very next show. It happened when I interfered in Skip Beau’s title match, it happened when I interfered in Cal Sanders title match... but when I’m on the receiving end? Suddenly the rule doesn’t apply anymore... where’s the justice? I mean we all know that if Skip Beau had been the one attacked and I had been the one to pick up the pinfall, he would still be the one to get the title shot. I deserve my chance at revenge on Nomad, and I won’t just stand around while the people in charge of this company continue to discriminate against me, as they have done since day one. Mark my words, I will get my title shot... because in the end, I always get what I want.”

With that Renluenn retreats to the back. For a moment, Sanders looks like he might continue to the ring to deliver a promo, but eventually decides better of it and also makes his way to the back.

Rating: E-

Eve Runcord: “The reason Skip Beau is getting his title shot, Mr Renluenn, is because he is the man that Nomad was quite clearly going after. The only reason you took the impact is because it backfired... quite spectacularly I might add.”

Harvey Manners: “I know Nomad was after Skip, you know Nomad was after Skip... but Davie doesn’t seem willing to let this one go any time soon. He seems genuinely pissed that Nomad got involved in the match.”

Eve Runcord: “I don’t think for a second that Davie is bothered by the ethics of a wrestler interfering in a match that they aren’t involved in. He sees this as a chance to force his way into the title picture. Nothing more, nothing less.”

Alan Parent and Kammy Ling are next out from behind the curtain. On commentary, Harvey Manners hypes Alan Parent’s somewhat surprise win over Skip Beau last time out... which saw Nomad get involved in ANOTHER of Skip Beau’s matches.

Kammy Ling: “Last time at ‘Covert Opewations’, Alan Pawent pinned Skip Beau 1,2,3 in the middle of the ring. Yet here at ‘Espionage’ it is Skip Beau who has shot at Flowida Bay Heavyweight Championship... that doesn’t sound wight to me. Why isn’t Alan Pawent having shot at Flowida Bay Heavyweight Championship? He beat Skip Beau, so that should make him the number one contender!”

The Florida Bay crowd to not seen enamoured at all by the idea of Alan Parent being named number one contender for the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship.

Kammy Ling: “Skip Beau has had many chances at becoming champion, but he always wastes his title shot. When Alan Pawent gets shot at belt, he won’t waste opportunity. Back in Japan, Alan Pawent won many, many titles. He always take every chance given to him, unlike Skip Beau. So I’m calling on FBI to give Alan Pawent a title shot next show! Give him that title shot, and he will show that Puwowesu rules... and prove to all of you stooped Amewicans just why Alan Pawent is big in Japan!”

Rating: F+

Eve Runcord: “Does Kammy Ling really think that Alan Parent can become Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion?”

Harvey Manners: “I hate to say it, but technically Alan Parent did beat Skip Beau last time out… and he does have a surprisingly good record in FBI wrestling.”

Eve Runcord: “Oh come on Harvey… he only beat Skip Beau because Nomad got involved.”

Harvey Manners: “That may be the case, but you know what they say: A wins a win, and they all count.”

Eve Runcord: “Whoever came up with that saying is an idiot…”

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/Paradox_zps5a90902f.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/AlanParent_zps08669c68.jpgw/http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/KammyLing_zpsd8a4e591.jpg

Paradox vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling

  • The Florida Bay crowd seemingly still hasn’t warmed to the puroresu style, and were particularly vocal throughout this match at their displeasure of having to watch Alan Parent wrestle.
  • However despite the overwhelming hostility, Alan Parent surprised many onlookers by actually being on the front foot for the majority of this match.
  • Paradox was able to raise some offence, but Parent was always able to subdue his opponents’ momentum with a submission hold to kill the pace of the match.
  • When Parent was eventually able to lock in his Parental Lock (Dragon Sleeper), it came as no surprise… and most would agree that Parent actually deserved to win this one!

In an extremely poor match, Alan Parent defeated Paradox in 8:12 by submission with a Parental Lock.

Rating: F+

Harvey Manners: “An impressive performance there from Alan Parent…”

Eve Runcord: “Maybe so, but one good performance does not make you the number one contender…”

Harvey Manners: “Maybe not officially, but I think in Kammy Ling’s mind Alan Parent just took on that title.”

Next up we have Tex Tagan and Joffy Laine making their way down to the ring. The Texans look in a much better mood than in previous weeks, presumably due to their victory in the six-man tag last time out… and of course Tex being reunited with his hat. Manners & Runcord hype the Texans latest victory, and speculate what lies next for the Southern duo. Back in the ring, a jovial Joffy Laine grabs a microphone.

Joffy Laine: “‘Covert Operations’ finally saw Tex and I dispose of those Paratrooper pests once and for all. Now I bet y’all are wonderin’… ‘what’s next for those two fine lookin’ Texan boys’? Well let me tell ya’, there’s only one prize that we got our eyes on here in Florida Bay… and that’s the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship. That belt belongs around one of our waists, and I guaran-damn-tee that it won’t be too long before the belt finds its way home.”

Tex Tagan: “We have proven time and again that us Texas boys are the two most dominant men in this company. Anyone with a pair of eyes attached to their head can see as much. So why neither of us have received a shot at Nomad’s title is beyond my comprehension. Well y’all about to find out something about us Texans. We see somethin’ we want, we don’t ask for it… we take it. Now some of y’all may call that selfish, but we say it’s all part of our famous Southern Hospitality.”

Rating: E

Harvey Manners: “Oh my, it seems everybody in the company is demanding a shot at the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship…”

Eve Runcord: “Nomad’s going to need to grow eyes in the back of his head for the next few months, because people are coming at him from all sides.”

Harvey Manners: “But who’s going to be the first to lay down their marker tonight? Davie Renluenn has his chance now, as he is in singles action…”

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/Paranoia_zps3a6fd833.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/DavieRenluenn_zps911a870f.jpg

Paranoia vs Davie Renluenn

  • Davie Renluenn came into this match with a point to prove. He wanted a shot at the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship, and he knew he needed a win here if that was going to happen any time soon.
  • This seemed to focus Renluenn. There was less posturing to the crowd, less bad mouthing his opponents… he just seemed focused on the job in hand.
  • Paranoia just couldn’t keep up with the newly focused Davie Renluenn, struggling to impose himself in the match.
  • It came as no surprise when Davie Renluenn was able to hit the Forward Russian Legsweep to pick up the victory in quick time.

In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat, Davie Renluenn defeated Paranoia in 6:40 by pinfall with a Forward Russian Legsweep.

Rating: E-

Harvey Manners: “Davie Renluenn puts down a marker. Is it enough to earn him the next shot at Nomad and the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship? I don’t know… but Renluenn looked more focused out there than usual. I think he really wants this…”

Eve Runcord: “Of course he wants the title… the man’s got the biggest ego I’ve ever encountered. I’m constantly amazed that it fits inside this bar. Holding that title would only help him play to that ego even more…”

Harvey Manners: “Maybe so, but he’s not the only man with his eyes on the gold. Tex Tagan also has Nomad in his sights… and the Texan is in action next.”

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/CVFP_WhiteMale_079_zps534f9cb0.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x32/Kidbrit/Puresim/TEW%2013/TexTagan_zps0f7e562b.jpg

Stanley Carpenter vs Tex Tagan

  • Tex Tagan looked to take advantage of his size advantage from the very first bell, looking to bully his younger, and smaller, opponent.
  • However Carpenter stood his ground, using his speed advantage to take the fight to Tagan.
  • While Carpenter did have his moments, much like in previous weeks he would ultimately come up short.
  • As Carpenter looked to jump off the top rope to attack Tagan from the air, he ultimately only ended up leaping into a thunderous Lariat that knocked the youngster clean out.
  • Despite another impressive showing from Carpenter, once again it was his opponent walking away with the victory.

In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat, Tex Tagan defeated Stanley Carpenter in 7:47 by pinfall with a Lariat Clothesline.

Rating: E+

Eve Runcord: “Oh my, what a Lariat! That was lethal!”

Harvey Manners: “That move has done for many wrestlers in the past, and once again the Lariat has earned Tex Tagan victory here tonight. Can it take him all the way to the title?”

Eve Runcord: “On the evidence we’ve seen so far, it would take a brave person to bet against him…”

Harvey Manners: “I can’t say that I disagree with you… but I think we’ve heard enough from guys who think they should be getting a shot at the gold… how about we hear from the man who actually is? The number one contender for the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship is on his way to the ring!”

Skip Beau is indeed on his way down to the ring. On commentary, they play up Nomad’s constant recent interference in Skip Beau’s matches and talk about his chance at a measure of revenge tonight.

Skip Beau: “Nomad’s actions over the last few months have been very telling to me. The man is meant to be the Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion… he is meant to be the standard by which this company is judged, to which the other wrestlers aspire. As such, champions are expected to conduct themselves by certain standards. Now I’m fortunate enough to be able to work for a company up in Canada, where we have a champion we can be proud of. Alex DeColt personifies how a champion should act, and, let me tell you, Nomad isn’t fit to lick his boots. Champions don’t get involved in other peoples fights, champions don’t resort to every underhand tactic in the book and champions don’t disrespect their challengers. Nomad you may hold the Florida Bay Heavyweight Belt, but you are no Champion… and this company, and these people, deserve better than to have you parading around with that belt. They deserve a real champion, a champion they can be proud of. Now that may be me, or it may be one of the other guys in the back… all I know for sure is that it sure as hell isn’t Nomad. So tonight, as number one contender, it is my responsibility to defeat Nomad and give you people a Champion that you can be proud of… and I promise that I will get the job done, because you can always trust your Beau to come through for you.”

Beau gets a slight pop as he finishes his promo, and begins to make his way to the back. He high fives a couple of the more eager fans, and tries to get everybody on side in preparation for the Main Event.

Rating: E+

Eve Runcord: “Skip Beau seems really fired up for this one!”

Harvey Manners: “Nomad has been a thorn in his side for months. Skip’s frustration must have built up with every interference, with every underhand tactic… and tonight he finally gets his chance to get Nomad in that ring and release that frustration.”

Eve Runcord: “Could tonight be the night we see the end of Nomad’s reign as Florida bay Heavyweight Champion? Can Skip Beau become the champion that this company so badly needs?”

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/Paradigm_zps954d67b3.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/CanadianCrusher_zps6d0ecf6f.jpg

Paradigm vs Canadian Crusher

  • Canadian Crusher’s power game gave him the advantage throughout this match, with the much smaller Paradigm struggling to find a way to combat his larger opponent with any regularity.
  • Crusher literally threw the Paratrooper around the ring like a rag doll whenever he was able to get hold of his opponent, with Paradigm’s tactic seemingly being just to keep distance between himself and Crusher.
  • However Paradigm couldn’t keep away from Crusher forever, as the big man was able to send the Paratrooper crashing to the mat with a Big Boot.
  • From here, Crusher immediately hauled Paradigm to his feet, and the smaller man was powerless to stop his opponent deliver a Full Nelson Slam that shook the ring and earned Crusher the win.

In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat, Canadian Crusher defeated Paradigm in 6:40 by pinfall with a Full Nelson Slam.

Rating: E-

Eve Runcord: “A brutal display from Canadian Crusher there…”

Harvey Manners: “Crusher has had huge success in FBI when facing opponents who he towers over, however when you put him against someone nearer his own size he has found it difficult to bully them in the same way.”

Eve Runcord: “That may be true, but how many opponents out there are the size of Canadian Crusher?”

Harvey Manners: “Good point…”

Nomad is out next to some boos from the Florida Bay crowd. This doesn’t seem to affect the champion though, as he continues his beeline to the ring.

Nomad: “So it appears Skip Beau is confused about what makes somebody a ‘Champion’. You see Skip, contrary to what your mommy may have told you when she tucks you in for bed, what makes a ‘Champion’ isn’t what’s found on the inside… it’s what’s found on the outside… more specifically this belt. This is what makes me a champion Skip, the fact that I have this belt on my shoulder and you don’t.”

This get’s the crowd booing, while on commentary Eve Runcord points out that Nomad may have missed the point Skip was making earlier entirely.

Nomad: “And while I’m out here Skip, I may as well clear up another misconception that your mommy probably told you at bed time. She probably told you that the good guy always wins out in the end… and that’s what you think you are, right Skip… the good guy in all of this? You think you’re the Superman to my Lex Luther, the Batman to my Joker, the Captain America to my Red Skull? You’re no hero Skip, in fact, just like all of those heroes I just listed, this ‘good guy’ act is just a fantasy. You’re still young Skip, still naïve, but eventually you’ll see that what I’m saying is the truth… because I’ve wrestled all around North America, in every type of wrestling organization you can imagine, and what I’m about to say holds true in every single one of them. There are no ‘good guys’, and there are no ‘bad guys’. There are just the people who know how to get the job done, and those who don’t…. and right now I’m a guy who knows how to get things done and are willing to do so by any means necessary. I’m a man who knows how to get things done, and that’s why I am the ‘Champion’, and Skip… right now you’re one of guys who doesn’t know how to get it done. And until you dispense of this fantasy of being the ‘good guy’… you never will.”

The crowds booing has increased by this point, a fact that seems to bring a smirk to the face of the Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion as he makes his way to the back.

Rating: F+

Eve Runcord: “I hope Skip tears his head off…”

Harvey Manners: “You and every person in here by the sound of it.”

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/Cverse_Rerender/jtlant/CalSanders_alt1jt.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/Cverse_Rerender/shipshirt/JoffyLaine_alt1.jpg

Cal Sanders vs Joffy Laine

  • Joffy Laine started this match strongly, making good use of physical strikes in his attempt to physically overwhelm his opponent.
  • While this tactic served Laine well initially, Sanders was eventually able to work his way back in to the match as he looked to slow the pace down with his submission holds to subdue his opponent’s assault.
  • The match then essentially followed a pattern of Joffy Laine continually breaking free of a Sanders submission hold and raising a brief flurry of offense, only for the ‘Leaping Lumberjack’ to regain control with a submission hold to quell any built up momentum.
  • Around eight minutes into the match Joffy Lane, presumably realizing his striking tactic wasn’t working too well, looked to hoist Sanders up into a Suplex attempt. However in a rare show of his somewhat surprising agility, Sanders was able to maneuver his body in such a way as to use the momentum of the throw to deliver a swinging, float over DDT to his unsuspecting opponent.
  • With Laine down, Sanders headed to the top rope and delivered the Frog Splash to his downed opponent. Sanders then crawled into the cover to earn the three count and a big win.

In an extremely poor match, Cal Sanders defeated Joffy Laine in 9:15 by pinfall with a Frog Splash.

Rating: D-

Eve Runcord: “What a match! But it’s Cal Sanders who walks away with the win, and that’s got to put him right back in the frame for the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship!”

Harvey Manners: “Absolutely, Sanders can’t be too far away from another shot at the gold… but who will he be chasing, Nomad or Skip Beau? Let’s find out in our Main Event!”

Skip Beau vs Nomad ©

Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

  • Skip Beau came into this match fully fired up, and unloads on Nomad from the very first bell with a series of heavy rights and lefts.
  • The champion is eventually able to escape this barrage by rolling out of the ring in an attempt to catch his breath. Skip motions for Nomad to get back in the ring, but the champion uses almost his full ten count before tentatively returning to the action.
  • After Nomad has cagily avoided Skip by circling the ring a few times, the two finally engage in a carbon elbow tie up in the middle of the ring. Skip Beau predictably wins the resulting test of strength, before delivering a knee to the chest of Nomad. With the champion in trouble, Beau delivers a Belly to Belly Suplex to take control of the match.
  • Beau retains control of the match with a series of power moves, before whipping Nomad to the corner. Beau immediately looks to charge the champion, but Nomad is able to roll away causing Beau to run straight into the turnbuckle. Beau staggers backwards from the impact… straight into a Nomad German Suplex that swings the momentum into the champions favour.
  • Nomad immediately goes to work on the back of his challenger, with a series of knee strikes to his kneeling opponent followed by a second German Suplex.
  • Nomad then looks to whip Beau off the ropes, but the big man is able to avoid the attempted Clothesline from Nomad and explode back off the ropes with a thunderous Clothesline of his own… much to the delight of the crowd.
  • Sensing his chance, Beau lifts the pace of the match as he takes a rising Nomad back off his feet with a Big Boot, before hauling Nomad into a Belly to Belly Suplex that shook the ring.
  • Skip Beau took a moment to play to the crowd, and signaled for the Flow Down. He hauled Nomad back to his feet looking to have the match and the championship won, but Nomad sprung into action and nailed Beau with a punch to the side of the head.
  • Beau immediately went limp, and collapsed to the mat. Nomad collapsed into the cover and, incredibly, was able to get the three count.

In an extremely poor match, Nomad defeated Skip Beau in 9:09 by pinfall after using a foreign object. Nomad makes defence number 4 of his Florida Bay Heavyweight title.

Eve Runcord: “What the hell happened? Skip Beau had that match won! I’m calling shenanigans!”

Sure enough as Nomad backed away to the curtain, title draped loosely over his shoulder, he help up a pair of brass knuckles to the crowd. The obvious implication that they had been the reason for his sudden, and shocking, pinfall. As he backs away, Nomad mouths the words “By any means necessary.”

Eve Runcord: “Brass Knuckles! That’s how he did it! Disqualify him ref!”

Harvey Manners: “I don’t think Charles Hapstander saw them! His view was obstructed during the match, and Nomad knew damn well that the referee’s focus was on an unconscious Skip Beau when he was flaunting them after the match...”

Eve Runcord: “This is getting ridiculous. He can’t be allowed to get away with this...”

Harvey Manners: “Nomad’s got away with a lot since he become Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion, but I agree that this time he’s gone too far. Will there be any repercussions from tonight’s events? Be sure to join us for Enhanced Interrogation in two weeks time to find out!”

“Back On Track”

Coming off the back of ‘Espionage’, I couldn’t help but have mixed feelings. While in theory the show had been a great success, with an increased attendance and no visual drop off in quality, it could have been so much better... and I have to take the blame for the fact it wasn’t. Putting Cal Sanders and Joffy Laine on as the Semi-Main was a mistake. The guys blew the roof off the place, putting on the best match in FBI history, but in doing so completely overshadowed the Main Event. I trusted Nomad and Skip Beau to put on a great match, but they just couldn’t live up to the standards of the Sanders/Laine match, and the show suffered for it.

However on a more positive note, we managed to turn a profit for the month for the first time since we began running two shows a month. We only made $24 for the month, but it definitely gave us something to build on, and represented a $650 swing from April. This was no doubt helped by the bumper attendance we drew for ‘Espionage’, now we just had to work on retaining those fans...

Espionage also saw us introduce a number of potential new contenders for the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship. Nomad has run through our top faces over the last few months, and continually matching the same three or four guys against each other can get stale very quickly. Introducing new challengers to the division gives the crowd something new to think about, and will hopefully create some good matches going forward.

Just a note on the prediction contest. I have decided this ‘round’ will run through until I hit ‘Small’ size in game. As I don’t know exactly when this will happen, I won’t be announcing the end of the prediction contest in advance. A new prediction contest will follow on from the show after the rise in size. If I had to estimate I would saw I am somewhere between 2-4 shows from small (I would be more accurate, but RTG rules dictate I can only play with letter grades which are pretty vague). The prize I’m thinking of currently are the top two predictors can recommend a few guys they would like to see in FBI, and I’ll look at adding at least one (maybe more) of them to the roster. Any thoughts on this as a prize?

I hope to see you all back next show :)

"Operation Lullaby"

Case Note – Entry #14

Filed By: Ted McCulloch

May proved to be a rather disastrous month for the SWF, as their recent strategy of using PPV’s to, almost exclusively, further TV storylines finally caught up with the company. ‘Master Of Puppets’ drew what was comfortably the lowest buy rate the SWF has pulled in 2013, the 2.49 being 0.34 lower than they had managed for ‘Awesome Impact’ in March. In fact, the 2.49 buy rate for ‘Master Of Puppets’ was the lowest buy rating the company had pulled in over a decade. Surely this will see some alarm bells ringing in Supreme HQ, and we’ll see a change of strategy in the coming months. If we don’t, then there is definitely something strange going on... no company should be able to survive with its primary revenue stream cut.

Ironically, May was a hugely successful month for the SWF in terms of show quality. The final episode of Supreme TV for May is being hailed as ‘show of the year’ so far, with the Main Event of Remo/Angry Gilmore being touted as a potential MOTY candidate... and this may be part of the problem. Why would fans buy the PPV’s when the free TV is much more engaging, and of better quality that the paid content? It also doesn’t help that the company is using their Pay Per Views to build storylines for use on Supreme TV.

A prime example of this strategy was the feud between Jack Bruce and Christian Faith, which continued from April. May kicked off with Christian Faith defeating Bruce in a gimmicked ‘Pick Your Partner’ tag team number one contenders match, as Faith/Vengeance defeated Bruce/Eisen earning Faith a shot at Frehley at ‘Master Of Puppets’. However the PPV title match was merely used as a prop to further the feud, as Jack Bruce interfered to cost Faith the title and further the feud. Then, worst of all, the very next night on Supreme TV saw Jack Bruce and Christian faith go one on one in the Main Event... on free TV. A match between the two biggest stars in the company, having been built for the past month, went to a clean finish on FREE TV... no wonder nobody’s buying the Pay Per Views. Worst of all, this match was contested in front of less than 5,000 fans in The Maritimes... I bet they couldn’t believe their luck. Maybe this small time setting hurt the match, as it is widely considered a disappointment and a surprisingly poor match. The SWF rounded out the month by teasing a possible introduction of Remo into the feud, as he was involved in angles with both Jack Bruce and Christian Faith in the final Supreme TV of the month. Remo’s feud with Christian Faith from a couple of months ago was of course never properly resolved.

Stanley Carpenter vs Canadian Crusher

[Despite putting in some impressive performances in recent weeks, Stanley Carpenter is still yet to record his first win in FBIPW. Things don’t look to get any easier for the youngster this show, as he faces the physically imposing Canadian Crusher. Can David really slay Goliath?]

Paradox vs Davie Renluenn

[Davie Renluenn will not be in a good mood, having been overlooked for the title match once again, which may spell bad news for his opponent. Can Renluenn continue his winning streak to try and force his way into a title shot, or will Paradox be able to pull out the upset.

The Paratroopers (Paradigm & Paranoia) vs Southern Hospitality (Joffy Laine & Tex Tagan)

[Paradigm & Paranoia must have hoped they’d seen the last of these two angry Texans. Only a month after being beaten in a big six-man tag match, they must once again try to defeat Joffy Laine & Tex Tagan. Can the duo pull off the upset, or will the Texans continue their dominance over the stable?]

Cal Sanders vs Skip Beau vs Nomad © vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling

Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

[After Nomad’s heinous actions at the conclusion of ‘Espionage’, those in charge of booking FBIPW decided it was time for a shake up. This month’s Main Event sees the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship defended in a four way match for the first time. Cal Sanders & Skip Beau both receive rematches after Nomad screwed both men over the past two shows. ‘Puroresu Master’ Alan Parent also gets his shot at the gold, after some impressive performances in recent weeks. Will the numbers game prove too much for Nomad to overcome? Will Cal Sanders or Skip Beau be able to gain revenge and finally get hold of the gold? Or will ‘Puwowesu’ take over FBI, as Alan Parent translates his success in the Far East to American soil? Be sure to join us for ‘Enhanced Interrogation’ to find out!]
