<p>Still enjoying these. I'm starting to do themes for the TCW roster for a new game and its great to see different suggestions from people. </p><p> </p><p>

Pretty sure that "Eye of the Tiger" for McFly goes back to my SWF diary back on TEW 2008. I ripped off "American Dragon" and gave McFly the "American Tiger" nickname, so it fit with that. Funny how certain things like that basically become canon. Like Monkeypox's "Great White Shark" Eddie Peak. Dig that version of Eye of the Tiger BTW.</p>

<p>So been toying with an idea and didn't know where else to throw it out for people's thoughts... Started a new TCW game and have been putting in the work to flesh out the characters, including trying to come up with themes for the talent. </p><p> </p><p>

So the idea would be to basically assign a given band to a given worker. They would have at least two themes - a primary theme they use regularly and a "special" one for big events. So say Tommy Cornell uses Metallica. "Enter Sandman" might be his regular entrance theme. For big PPVs, he might use "For Whom the Bell Tolls". When tagging with Hawkins, maybe its "Seek & Destroy". If Cornell teams with someone else for some reason - say Rick Law - it would be something else by Metallica. </p><p> </p><p>

There would almost be a narrative within the theme choices and usages. If Law tagged with someone below him, the entrance theme would be something by the same band Law uses (say, Killswitch Engage). Simillarly, Hawkins would have used a Metallica song for a long time and when he switched to something by another band, it symbolized he was moving out from under Cornell's shadow. </p><p> </p><p>

Thoughts?</p>

<p>I like the idea Bigpapa. Reminds me of a similar idea I've toyed with over the years: creating a wrestling "rock opera." (I also crafted a storyline based on a Kind Diamond album once.)</p><p> </p><p>

I think it would add some serious depth to characters. A way of showing that the mood/tone for this match or this story or this event is somehow different than other times. In a way, you already see it in WWE: HHH uses different music for big events such as Wrestlemania. Back when he debuted, Mankind had different pre- and post-match themes.</p><p> </p><p>

You could also play it out with different versions of the same song, as well as different songs by the same artist. For example: in a normal situation, Sean McFly might use (to use the typical example) Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger." But when heel, he might use the Galneryus version that I prefer.</p><p> </p><p>

I've always believed that music is an important part of wrestling's atmosphere. It creates mood and can convey emotion on a more subtle level. If a worker has different themes (or different versions) depending on the situation, it will help shape the narrative and how the crowd reacts to it. That's why I like diaries with music assigned to characters...gives it more depth, makes it feel more real. Hell, that's part of the reason I started this thread, so people could share their ideas for themes, because it's such an essential part of what makes a character who they are.</p><p> </p><p>

I think you really have a good idea going. Will be interesting to see how you develop it, and if it influences your playstyle at all.</p>

I love your example of the different versions, and I think that's a much simpler way of creating a sense of change without it having to be a completely different character.

The original idea is fantastic, my only concern is how many bands have that many strong (content or atmosphere wise) songs that fit wrestling and potentially a character?

Thanks. I love using music with any projects, whether they are diary are not. And this just seemed like another way to tie the music into the narrative a bit deeper.

Do like the using different versions idea, but it might get tough finding enough songs to really too far without having to reach.

I do more or less the same thing, but without the secondary song bit. I like each worker to just have a single theme song because I think it might lessen the impact of that worker's music hitting if everyone had 2 or 3 songs. Having said that, it's an interesting idea.

My motivation is purely that I don't want to have a bunch of wrestlers with music from the same bands. I want my roster to feel like the product of a Creative Department and not just my iTunes library.

The reduced recognition is one factor that I kinda worried about with the idea. But it would really only be the upper 20% of the roster that would have the secondary theme that they use for big matches. Reaching that point is almost a badge of honor in a sense.

The original idea is fantastic, my only concern is how many bands have that many strong (content or atmosphere wise) songs that fit wrestling and potentially a character?

That was one of my first thoughts. But I started taking a look. I keep a spreadsheet list of songs i think would make good entrance themes - some of its music I listen to all the time (mostly hard rock, metal, and classic rock) and some is stuff that is outside of what I listen to. A quick count and there is at least 60 bands on there that would offer a couple of songs that can be used be a worker. Going further out of what I normally listen to would easily expand that. So yeah, I think there is enough. Takes some work to find and some thinking. Threads like this are immensely helpful, I find.

<p>As a longtime rock fan and musician, deciding on worker themes can be both fun and challenging at the same time. Here are some (no, make that a lot) of my suggestions, and since I'm mostly a classic rock/'90s rock/old-school metal guy, a lot of the themes may be a bit dated. You'll find many of these themes on my SWF diary, though this list isn't exclusive to SWF workers.</p><p> </p><p>

Will check this thread too if I'm stuck trying to choose entrance themes! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Angry Gilmore - "Wrath of Sanity" (Earth Crisis)</p><p>

Captain Atomic - "Boom" (P.O.D.)</p><p>

Cherry Bomb - "Cherry Bomb" (Runaways) - her ring name is her finisher is her ring music <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Chris Caulfield - "Like Light to the Flies" (Trivium)</p><p>

Christian Faith - "Epic" (Atreyu, Faith No More original)</p><p>

Danny Fonzarelli - "Candy" (Kids from the Brady Bunch), "Sugar, Sugar" (Archies) or any late '60s, early '70s bubblegum pop</p><p>

Emma Chase - "Bad Reputation" (Joan Jett and the Blackhearts)</p><p>

Ernest Youngman - "20th Century Boy" (Placebo, T-Rex original)</p><p>

Frederique Garcia - "I Feel Love" (Kingston Wall, Donna Summer original)</p><p>

Gino Montero - "Loco" (Coal Chamber)</p><p>

Jack Bruce - "Victim of Changes" (Judas Priest - face music), "Famous" (Puddle of Mudd - heel music)</p><p>

Jay Chord - "I Got It All" (Beautiful Creatures)</p><p>

Joe Sexy - "Sexual Healing" (Soul Asylum, Marvin Gaye original)</p><p>

Jack Giedroyc/Wrath of God/Rogue - "After Forever" (Black Sabbath - face music as Giedroyc/WoG), "Don't Give a F---" (Suicidal Tendencies - heel music as Rogue)</p><p>

Jungle Lord - "Tarzan Boy" (Baltimora) - all credit goes to flaviooooo for suggesting this entrance theme! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Mainstream Hernandez, Nelson Callum or anyone else suited for a heel boy band gimmick - "Larger than Life" (Backstreet Boys)</p><p>

Rich Money - "It's All About the Benjamins" (Puff Daddy)</p><p>

Rick Law - "Hard Times" (Greenhornes)</p><p>

Rip Chord - "Ramblin', Gamblin' Man" (Bob Seger System)</p><p>

Robbie Retro - "Machine Gun" (Commodores)</p><p>

Runaway Train/Barry Bowen - "The Locomotion" (Grand Funk Railroad) - considering he's a heel who insists he's a babyface as my diary's SWF commish</p><p>

Sammy Bach - "Slave to the Grind" (Skid Row)</p><p>

Sgt. Bubba Lee West - "Rumors of War" (High on Fire)</p><p>

Steve Frehley - "Will They Die 4 U" (Mase, Puffy, Li'l Kim and System of a Down)</p><p>

The Blazing Flames - "Burn" (Deep Purple)</p><p>

The Darkness Warriors - "Black Mass" (Jason Crest) - totally obscure late '60s psychedelia, but really spooky shit...</p><p>

The Fly Boys - "Surfin' Bird" (Queers, Trashmen original)</p><p>

The New Wave - "Wave of Mutilation" (Pixies), or, to match their gimmick, "Paint it Black" (Earth Crisis, Rolling Stones original)</p><p>

The Pain Alliance - "Shamrocks and Shenanigans" (House of Pain)</p><p>

Tyson Baine - "Raining Blood" (Slayer)</p><p>

Vengeance - "Vengeance is Mine" (Arch Enemy)</p><p>

WrestleBot 9000 - "2000 Man" (KISS, Rolling Stones original)</p><p>

Zimmy Bumfhole - "A.D.I.D.A.S." (Korn) - as a sex-addicted heel managed by Emma Chase</p>

Does anyone have any suggestions for this guys? I'm running L-Ring from Hawaii.

Clark Alexander - His nickname is Hawaiian Thunder so I'm trying to find any rock songs with a hawaiian or island theme. Even a rock cover of a tradition hawaiian song.

High Flying Hawaiian - Maybe some pop song? Dude is small and energetic. He's obviously a face in his home region so something that isn't too easy to hate.

El Mitico Jr. - Goodest good guy who has ever done good. I'll probably give him a mystic theme song like Mistico's (Sin Cara) original but nay suggestion are appreciated.

Amy Galaxy - space jobber

Ava Anderson - Straight A Jobber

Eve Runcord - Jobber who makes suspicious phone calls backstage. I'm thinking of giving her a FBI/police theme song. Imagine if she is waiting gorilla position when suddenly a song announcing she's FBI/IRS? starts playing?

Ginko Kuroda - She using the mask render so some cool smooth J pop or rock?

Tag Teams

Sunny Island Heroes - Alexander and High Flying Hawaiian. I'll use Alexander's theme since he is the older and more etablished wrestler.

The Keith Brothers - Matthew use

and Greg is using Head Bust by Shark City Click. Both of them are equals in the team even if Matthew gets more time to shine so I dont want to use one of their individuals themes. I want to use some hip hop for them. Arrogant cocky but with the feeling that they can actually back it up.

For Amy Galaxy, I'd suggest the
.

If you ever push her, though, you should use

instead.

The cantina Band works. Goofy enough for a jobber.

I probably won't push her at all. She's very weird overall. Her Basics are 57, her psychology is 52, her consistency is 69, her selling is 58 and her safety is 53. All of this points to her having good perfomance skills apart from psychology which is understandable considering she's a former stripper wrestler. Her actual in-ring skills however sucks. Considering she's 35 and most likely she'll remain a jobber for a few more years.

<p>Didn't Adam canonically give Tommy Cornell a theme song? I can never remember what it is. Something by Judas Priest, maybe?</p><p> </p><p>

Anyway, I use this for Brandon James (though it could also work for Eric Eisen):

And this for Valiant, especially once he reaches the main event:

  • 2 months later...

<p>I've been getting my girlfriend into this game lately. She's taken to it quite well actually.</p><p> </p><p>

At the moment, her favorite worker is Mario Heroic, which in her first game she's managed to turn into an SWF champion. (Wow, right?) She had turned him into this amazing gothic cult leader, with Travis Century as a manager, Raven Nightfall as a love interest, Tyson Baine as a bodyguard, and Jay Chord as a tag team partner/disciple.</p><p> </p><p>

She asked me what would be a good theme song for him. After some discussion, we came up with Ghost's version of the Depeche Mode classic "Waiting for the Night."</p><p> </p><p>

The logic was not only that it fit with her version of the character, but also the fact that (according to his bio) Mario tends to have very long entrances. I figure that the song would start at the beginning, but that Mario wouldn't actually begin his entrance until the 1:28 mark of the song.</p><p> </p><p>

Ghost - "Waiting for the Night."</p><p>
