I was thinking more along the lines of the first 50 seconds (then from 1:38 to 1:48, etc). Basically an instrumental version (and without the solo ¬_¬).

Try Shangren's "Battle of Water and Fire"

 

 

I *think* Shangren is actually from China, but they fit with the theme you said you wanted.

 

Point is it starts out with a traditional Asian style of music (which actually carries through the whole song) and then becomes much heavier. Might be a bit heavy on the vocals since it's technically death metal, but maybe this will work for you.

Other songs that I really want to use, but just don't have the character for:

 

"Waltz Moore" - There is a pretty awesome "emo" Jay Chord render out there, and I've seen a lot of people give him the emo/anti-hero treatment in diaries. Tends to be how I use him...a self-loathing punk whose biggest desire is to destroy either his his father's legacy or his own body, whichever comes first. This song would fit that image.

 

"The Nobodies" - Can't put any faces to the song, but any group of outcasts/rejects. A stable similar to the Flock, made up of mid-card lifers, or indy guys brought into one of the Big Three.

 

"Monochromatic Stains" - Isn't there a guy in Australia called the Void? White face paint, his whole persona some sort of emotionless manipulator/cult leader? Could work for him, I think.

Just sending out a feeler for interest here, but would anyone be interested in having custom themes created? I'm a musician with my own small home studio and I could whip up a few here and there. I'd be using mostly software (Reason, Ableton, Pro Tools, etc.) but I have plenty of guitars, basses, drums and other instruments I can throw in the mix as well. I'm sure a few of you could use them for your dynasties and I could use the practice! Just think of me as the Jim Johnston of your TEW 2013 dynasty. </p><p> </p><p>

I guess just PM me if you are intererested. If I get enough responses I'll let you know what kind of information I'll need. Right off the bat I can say that I'm looking at making themes that are about 1:30 - 2 minutes long. Nothing over-the-top, as I'll be doing these for free in my spare time. I'd like to stick to composing material in 4/4 time. I don't mind some 2/4 or 3/4, but let's not try to get too crazy unless you just want random fart and burp noises or something, which CAN be done very easily in virtually no time at all and with absolutely no attention paid to time signatures, tempo, melody or rhythm. (And that's my idea for Big Smack Scott's theme song!) I can do all sorts of genres. I'm probably best at rock and related genres (metal, punk, etc.) and rap/hip-hop. I've dabbled in a little bit of everything at this point. I'd rather not do country, unless it's old school or tongue-in-cheek humor. Just a preference. I'd also prefer to do instrumentals but if you provide lyrics and I think I can pull them off, we can talk about that. </p><p> </p><p>

For now, just let me know if you're interested. I'm taking a vacation from Aug. 4 - Aug. 11 and will get started after that if the interest is there. If so, I'll crank them out as fast as I can and upload them to a soundcloud site and provide the links.</p>
