How Does Everyone Plan Via Spreadsheets?

Everything that I plan is either written down on the notepad or something that comes directly out of my mind as I play. Ever since I started playing the series with TEW 2008 I have done it this way. The only thing I will do is keep a running log of whats going on in my save (currently my SWF save) which gets posted in the whats going on in your game thread but other than that I don't do much planning. Rather I just have a general idea of where I want the company to go in my head.

Indeed. Besides, a lot of the stuff that is written into said Spreadsheets is mostly available in game, via a few clicks.

This is the setup I use.

http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh638/theDevilb0y/spread2_zps9e8e1e57.png

I also have a show planning and form page as well as archived shows so if I ever decide to turn a game into a Dynasty I have the plans available in an easier-to-access way than the game provides.

My biggest problem with it currently is that I'm not very good with excel so there's no way to sort any of the columns or search, which is a bit annoying.

I don't know if that's even possible though.

Push and Disposition are their own columns as are overness and momentum. this way I can sort by push, disposition, overness highest to lowest and momentum highest to lowest. You have to do a custom sort for push so it will sort ME first and Enhancement last but its not that hard.

But momentum and overness are always changing. I'm betting you guys spend more time writing than playing.

With my latest SWF game, one in which I purposely named the save "FUNSWF" because I was just going to roll with things and not chart the roster out and track POP & MOM changes (among other things), I've just charted out the roster and storylines in the beginning of March 2013. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Some great example sheets here, mine are very basic so might have to step things up a bit.

The only exceptions to the PPV rule are when I'm deliberately jobbing people to someone with low overness and need to track that person (e.g. Henry Godwinn is jobbing to Chyna but she will soon be more over than him making it pretty much pointless and so I will need to move onto a more popular jobber) or to track momentum for an owner goal that's nearly finished (e.g. in 20 days Brian Pillman and Mideon must have a minimum momentum attained so I've been tracking them for a month now to ensure I complete it).

It takes me less than 5 minutes to type everything in and do the resort. I do spend a fair amount of time writing things out but because of how far I lay out my shows (3 or 4 months worth of shows one time I laid out from Janaury to Supreme challenge) I can run through shows very quickly i don't even have to guess at what angles I have to put or what matches they are all laid out. And then the quick few minute adjustments to the sheet after every PPV. And to tell the truth planning is totally part of the enjoyment to me. I'm a math guy, a statistician, so its fun for me to track these things.

I find putting it on a spreadsheet fun because it's immediate feedback on what I've done well and what I need to work on. It's far easier to spot the guys who need a bit of help that way too.

I also have a great appreciation for history, statistics and numbers, and such, and my fair share of OCD and i run away from that kind of writing and planning. I'm not knocking you down or anything, (or any other person that plans this way) I really think it's amazing how sometimes we can learn new things with this game. It is very interesting to see how sometimes similar persons take different aproaches to similar paths.

Impressive, loving it.

Would you mind giving a screenshot of the whole thing? Or publish a blank version for us (me <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) to use?

Thanks if this is possible !

Currently I just track Momentum and Popularity.

I have my roster laid out with momentum by week, so I can book matches where one worker can gain momentum over another.

I also track popularity by month because I think it's good to see who's losing or gaining heat without having to go through everyone's profiles.

The Data tab runs everything. On the Tour Builder/Roster tabs, the stuff you want to change would be Name/Stable/Push/Etc. The results will all be pulled automatically from the Data tab. For the Tour Builder tab, you will need to manually change the dates in Row 2, to pull the new information. All of the formatting on the Roster/Tour Builder sheets is automatic. I'm assuming people will have questions. I'll do whatever I can to help. I'd be happy to add more tabs/info for people that want it.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

I believe my time was 32:54. I had a back injury about 2.5 months ago, so I literally had not done any exercise in that entire time. I went in to it completely cold.
