WWF RAW IS WAR, Monday Week 4, December 1997

Announcers: Jim Ross, Jerry “The King” Lawler

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Michaels.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Small/ChynaDX.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/TripleH.jpg

The show starts off as D-Generation X are coming down to the ring with Shawn Michaels and Triple H both dressed as Santa Claus (although Chyna is still dressed as Chyna). As we’re only a few days out from Christmas, DX make a bunch of crude Christmas jokes about “licking candy canes” and “kissing their mistletoe”, even going as far as to put stockings around their junk, while Chyna stands around with her usual bored, menacing-looking stare.

DX then goes on to say to the audience that as this is a time for giving if the ladies show them the “guns” then DX will show off the “bazookas”. Several female audience stand up and flash the camera, much to the delight of Michaels and Helmsley.

(89)

But just as DX get ready for their own "Big Revealing"…

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Owen.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shamrock.jpg

It’s Owen Hart and Ken Shamrock! They come sprinting down to the ring and waste no time attacking the men they will face on Sunday at Armageddon for their respective championships. Chyna comes to the defence of HBK and Triple H, and as chaos erupts in the ring, we are interrupted once again…

(91)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Slaughter.jpg

Commissioner Slaughter comes down the ramp and puts a halt to the fighting by informing everybody that they’ll get their chance to get a piece of each other tonight in an advanced preview of Armageddon when D-Generation X take on Owen Hart and Ken Shamrock in a tag team match.

Owen and Shamrock seem quite happy with this development, however DX looks less than impressed as we head to our first commercial break of the evening.

(73)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/JR.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/King.jpg

We come back from the break as Jim Ross and Jerry “The King” Lawler officially welcome us to our Christmas edition of Raw is War. JR and King discuss at length the situation between the Undertaker and his brother Kane, who will face Jeff Jarrett and Ahmed Johnson respectively at Armageddon in “Title Shot vs. Brotherly Stipulation” matches. Jarrett or Johnson will receive a title shot of their choice if they can win their respective match whereas Undertaker or Kane will get to dictate the future of their brother with a stipulation if they win their match.

JR speculates whether the “Brothers of Destruction” will be able to coexist tonight though, as they will be tagging together for the first time in WWF history to take on their opponents at Armageddon, Jeff Jarrett and Ahmed Johnson.

(59)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/BillyGunn.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Small/Dogg.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/VS.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Hawk.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Small/Animal.jpg

Hawk vs. Billy Gunn

Last week we saw Animal defeat Road Dogg in singles action and this week we see their tag team partners in the WWF Tag Team Championship match at Armageddon go head to head. JR talks about how Animal was too experienced last week to fall for any of the New Age Outlaws’ “cheap tricks”. Tonight proves to be no different, as Hawk eventually puts Billy Gunn away with a Flying Lariat, despite the best efforts of the Road Dogg.

The New Age Outlaws will be facing an uphill battle to retain their Tag Team titles at Armageddon against a fit and firing Legion of Doom!

Winner by pinfall: Hawk

(63)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Austin.jpg

Stone Cold Steve Austin comes out to the ring to a massive cheer from the crowd and says he’s been thinking heavily about his matchup with Mankind at Armageddon and he’s come to his conclusion. He then calls Mick Foley out to the ring…

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Mankind.jpg

Mankind comes down to the ring to a cheer from the crowd not quite as loud as for the Texas Rattlesnake, and asks Austin if he’s made a decision on the match type for their match at Armageddon. Austin replies that he has and he says what better way to provide a slobberknocker for the WWF audience than to go all out and spill each other’s blood!

That’s right; Austin vs. Mankind at Armageddon will be a First Blood match!!

(92)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Vince.jpg

As Austin and Mankind are shaking hands, Vince McMahon comes strutting down to ring, to a completely opposite crowd reaction to what we just witnessed for Stone Cold and Mick Foley. Vince grabs a microphone and wishes both Austin and Mankind Merry Christmas and says he hopes they give it their all at Armageddon. In fact, he goes on to say with a sneer on his face, he hopes they kill each other!!

Austin replies the only way he knows how, by giving Vince a Stone Cold Stunner in the centre of the ring. Mankind then follows up by pulling a dirty old sock out from the front of his pants and shoving it down Vince’s throat!!

Merry Christmas Vince!

(78)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/FaarooqNation.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/TheRock.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Kama.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/DLo.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/VS.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Vader.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Chainz.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Skull.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/8Ball.jpg

The Nation of Domination vs. Vader and the Disciples of Apocalypse

Our second match for the evening shows eight men who have all been tangled up in each other’s business for the past month going head to head in an eight man tag match. The announcers discuss how Vader and The Rock will go at it in six days’ time at Armageddon for the Intercontinental Championship, and while JR says The Rock will have nowhere to hide, King is confident that “Rocky” will prove to be “just too good for the overrated Masta-bator”.

Although Vader dominates for the majority of this matchup, the Nation of Domination’s teamwork proves to be greater than that of their opponents. With The Rock refusing to tag in for the majority of the match, Faarooq is squaring off against Chainz as D’Lo and Kama manage to take out Vader on the outside of the ring. Faarooq then hits Chainz with a Dominator, leading to The Rock tagging himself in for the first time in the match to pick up the pinfall. Faarooq looks on with a bemused look on his face while JR comments how The Rock won’t have the Nation to do his dirty work in the Intercontinental title match at Armageddon.

Winner by pinfall: The Nation of Domination

(59)

After the match Faarooq grabs a microphone and addresses the Disciples of Apocalypse who are heading back up the ramp. He says that the WWF isn’t big enough for the Nation and D.O.A to coexist so he’s challenging them to a Loser Leaves Town six-man elimination tag match at Armageddon.

Chainz is shown to be clearly nodding his head in agreement, and we have our final match for Armageddon!

(74)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Taker.jpg

As we come back from the commercial break the Undertaker is coming out to ringside for his tag team match partnering his brother Kane against their respective opponents at Armageddon, Jeff Jarrett and Ahmed Johnson.

But Kane never appears, so it looks like the Undertaker will be facing these two in a handicap match!

(87)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Taker.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/VS.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Jarrett.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Johnson.jpg

The Undertaker vs. Jeff Jarrett and Ahmed Johnson

With his brother Kane never making an appearance, the Undertaker has to take on both his opponent for Armageddon Jeff Jarrett AND Kane’s opponent Ahmed Johnson in a handicap match. Both Jarrett and Johnson seem eager to impress, and JR talks up the opportunity for both these up and coming superstars at Armageddon, as if either of them win they will get a title shot for the championship of their choice. This means that at the Royal Rumble we could very well see Ahmed Johnson challenging for the WWF Championship!

But as fired up as his opponents are the Undertaker maintains a focus that JR states that he has never seen before from “The Phenom”, clinically taking both Jarrett and Johnson apart. In the end he hits Ahmed Johnson with a Tombstone Piledriver, and when Jeff Jarrett comes to his partner’s defence he puts him away with a Chokeslam. The Deadman then pins Johnson to pick up the victory against the odds.

Winner by pinfall: The Undertaker

(71)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/KaneOld.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Small/Bearer.jpg

No sooner has the bell rung then Kane comes charging down to the ring under the direction of his mentor Paul Bearer. He hits the Undertaker unawares before putting him away with a Tombstone Piledriver of his own. He then stands over the fallen body of his older brother and brings down his arms, calling up his trademark flames from the four ringposts.

(89)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Michaels.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/TripleH.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Small/ChynaDX.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/VS.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Shamrock.jpghttp://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Owen.jpg

D-Generation X vs. Ken Shamrock and Owen Hart

We come back from our final commercial break for our Main Event of the evening, as the WWF Champion Shawn Michaels and European Champion Triple H take on their respective opponents at Armageddon, Owen Hart and Ken Shamrock.

Despite being the underdogs in this match, Shamrock and Owen display a natural cohesion as a tag team, working together much better than Triple H and HBK, who surprisingly show absolutely zero chemistry as tag partners. Chyna however, manages to keep the odds back in DX’s favour by providing distractions whenever Shamrock or Hart begin to get the upper hand.

The match comes to its conclusion when opponents from the last two weeks Owen Hart and Triple H again square off in the ring. Once again Owen proves to be the better of the fancied Helmsley, locking him in the Hart family’s trademark Sharpshooter. Ken Shamrock rushes the ring expecting Michaels to come in to his partner’s defence, however the Heartbreak Kid seemingly wants nothing to do with the “World’s Most Dangerous Man”, resulting in Triple H eventually having to tap out.

Winner by submission: Ken Shamrock and Owen Hart

(75)

Ken Shamrock and Owen Hart don’t get a second to celebrate however, as Shawn Michaels and Chyna hit the ring both brandishing steel chairs and proceed in taking out DX’s opponents for Armageddon. A recovered Triple H joins in and continues the 3-on-2 assault in the centre of the ring.

D-Generation X taunts their opponents as we see Owen Hart unconscious in one corner of the ring and Ken Shamrock lying prone in the opposite corner. That’s when…

(83)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Austin.jpg

It’s Stone Cold Steve Austin!! Austin runs out to the ring and hits Triple H with a Stunner before the rest of DX even knows what’s happening. He then follows up with a Stunner on Chyna, ducks a Superkick from Michaels, gives him the bird and then hits the WWF Champion with a Stunner of his own!

Austin then calls for the beers and gives the crowd a Christmas salute. He then revives Owen Hart and Ken Shamrock, before handing them both Stunners as well!!

(87)

http://i375.photobucket.com/albums/oo198/nick288/Mankind.jpg

As Austin drinks another beer, his opponent for Armageddon Mankind comes down to the ring as well. Austin sizes him up, calls for another beer and hands it to Mick Foley. They cheers each other and both take a swig out of their beer before Austin hits Foley with a Stunner as well!

It’s a very Merry Christmas for the WWF audience as we go off the air with Stone Cold Steve Austin drinking another beer on the turnbuckle, surrounded by unconscious superstars and with the crowd in raptures!

We’ll see you all at Armageddon in six nights’ time!!

(95)

Final Show Rating: 86
