My main opponents in Regional battles were CZCW (too big to compete with) and IPW. Since there's a story of a GSW-IPW rivalry, I decided simply beating IPW would suffice. I increased production just to be slightly better than them and it worked. After a solid while, I cut production to save money and ended up last in battles despite great shows. Once I switched display from letters to numbers, I realized the penalties from losing regional battles were much greater than the 0,5% popularity gain of a successful show.

My point is, you only need to increase production values to a point where you're as good as your opponents in everything and a step better than one of them at one thing. It's the cheapest way to avoid penalties while giving those penalties to the opposition. You won't win any battles, but you won't get any penalties or spend much either.

I have three fairly simple questions as a complete novice:

1) I'm running Golden Canvas Grappling and my main events are roughly around the 80 mark - when running an observer game, the AI is getting main events 85-90. My main events are usually 30-40 minutes, called in ring, slow build, default match aim. Is there any way to see what notes the AI is using? Using other match aims I usually just tanked my grades a bit but maybe I should've kept trying with epic, spectacle, technical masterpiece, etc.?

e: As an example,

Hiroyasu Gakusha going to a draw with Jimmy Cox scored 91 and Toshiharu Hyobanshu defeating SUKI scored 93 and I've never touched those kind of grades.

e2: I am running basic 'World Title Race', 'Tag Team Title Race' etc. storylines, could that be interfering?

2) Related, when's a good time to use the various match aims?

3) How is title prestige determined? My heavyweight title started at 100 but has been slowly drifting down towards 90, and I'm not sure why that is.

Thanks for the help!

Having that many people in a match (a battle royal or a trios) is going to hurt it a bit, it's harder to tell a coherent story.

I don't think the penalty is big enough to really make much of a difference, just a little bit to simulate to the difficulty in booking those kinds of matches.

What is the difference between a touring contract and a pay per appearance contract? It says in the game that the touring contract is the same except that the deal only lasts unit the next end of tour. I don't understand what that means. If I sign a guy to a touring contract for 8 months, then the contract will last for 8 months and then have to be renewed that is why you sign the contract for a certain amount of time. To me the touring contract and pay per appearance contract are the same, they are both pay per appearance contracts.

Regional Popularity

So I was just wondering what your thoughts are on regional popularity, specifically in real world mods. I've decided to make some tweaks like increasing Natalya's pop in Canada and Naomi's in South East USA for example.

How important do you think this is in TEW (The hometown element)? Does say, Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode having massive pop in Canada considering this is where they are from help to make a more successful match such as that at Takeover: Toronto?

For example, if you have a Chris Benoit sort of guy who can wrestle a broomstick to a C+ match, he would be best suited to getting over in the ring. If you have a big monster who is less experienced in the ring like Braun Strowman during his debut 3 years ago, have him dominate smaller opponents in short matches and stand around looking menacing or beating people up. A charismatic guy like The Miz who's primary talent isn't ring work gets most of his popularity from his mic work, either by feuding with others or just self promotion.

Pivoting to the next topic, feuds (storylines) are the "bread and butter" to getting people over. Chris Benoit can only get so over by wrestling well if he doesn't have a purpose or a tough opponent he is trying to beat, Strowman can only get so over by beating up nobodies that eventually he is going to have to beat up and duke it out with someone who can fight back, and The Miz can only promote himself so much without needing to work with another wrestler like Cena or Dean to give himself that boost up.

Taking advantage of your worker's strengths and putting them in programs that fit them is the best way to get them over. Speaking in-game, you want the highest ratings for their segments for their overness to go up. To get higher ratings, you can either

1) Put them in matches or segments that utilize their best skills

2) Have them beat someone more over than them

3) Increase their momentum (win streaks, storylines do this well)

4) Increase their morale (Good backstage, good momentum, and just praising/positive events do this)

TEW2016 is amazing in that it mirrors real life wrestling at least to some degree to where you can think about it in those terms, and compare what you are doing in a game to, say, what Vince is doing in real life. You can't get Chris Benoit over by giving him a talk show, and you won't get Braun Strowman over by making him wrestle in long, technical submission matches.

I hope this helps!

EDIT: There are definitely some things I am missing but this is kind of just a general outline of improving your worker's popularity, if anyone has anything else I forgot feel free to add it <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I'm almost positive this has been asked before but can't find it.

What is the criteria for taking over ranking from another company?

I (WCW) am ranked #2 and the WWF is ranked #1. We are both the same size (National) and my Prestige is A* and Momentum is A compared to the WWF's B+ and B+.

Additionally, our National popularity is B across the board other than the South East area where I edge them with a B+ compared to their B. In the Importance category, we are almost identical except for their South East Importance is a C+ compared to my B-. We are the same in every other region.

My question is, when do I take over the #1 ranking? From a National standpoint, I'm just past them. Is the ranking based off of Global importance and popularity? It'd make more sense if the rankings were based off of your current size. If two promotions are both ranked National, it wouldn't make any sense for them to be compared on a Global scale.

Sup. I get a little confused about Wrestler Status (Main-Eventer, Mid-carder etc.) in Contracts for the companies (Main editor), when I try to create my own Universe. Am I missing something? Or Do I need to set it somewhere else?

I'm doing a Watcher Game on the WCW Lives mod.

In 2005 WWE gets a "Whistle-blower Scandal" where Randy Orton tattles on everyone for doing drugs or steroids or whatever.

Is this a narrative? I feel like I wanna say it was a new game feature for 2016 but I couldn't find any consequences from it except the entire WWE hating Orton.
