The Mod Squad

I appreciate your thoughts mate and as always take them into consideration. Feedback and suggestions for change based on tests are always especially welcomed. We'll have to disagree on a few things like why companies like BATTLARTS died and why NJPW attendance waned but that's ok as long as you provide constructive feedback like you have and follow it up with tests and suggestions for change, if it helps the mod I'll make the edit :)

Actually, while I've got you here Genadi: Which mod would you say has the best British wrestling scene, pre-2010s? I've got a hankering to try something out in 1985 involving both ASWUK and JP that's a bit too long to go into detail here, but I also don't mind trying out some of the later mods in the 1990s or 2000s.

Tsu is the one to ask about the UK scene, he has done most of the work for Europe and UK in all of my mods for TEW and others.

After the way today's gone, I think I'll schedule testing for the weekend. Work's been a nightmare!

85 is a great time for the UK as you have ASW on Screensport, Joint on ITV and even the BWF on S4C with Reslo. Satellite Wrestling was actually sourced out to ASW by a boxing promoter, sadly it didn't last long though did help ASW get a share of the World of Sport slot. If only Joint hadn't rejected SKY around 87, oh you Crabtrees.

Later on, maybe something around 2001 as you had the FWA doing some great stuff and the scene was starting to bubble away again. Wrestlexpress could have destroyed things, but luckily it didn't.

So ASWUK leapt ahead of JP and was the big popular family friendly act, and JP was the old fashioned technical outfit. I didn't know much about BWF so I stuck with it just being the Welsh outfit. There was also some reworked stuff with the weight classes, dropping from 7 to 5.

At the same time, I played around with the television scene to have the WOS programming block get bought in 1984 as the foundation for a new cable sports channel (replacing the Children's Channel), that would bring in both ASWUK and BJP with their own one hour shows. ASWUK would have "All Star Wrestling on World of Sport" and BJP would have "British Wrestling on World of Sport".

My idea was to play either ASWUK or BJP in a battle to the death against the other promotion (and BWF I guess), a real clash of styles with ASWUK being more like the WWF and BJP veering more into NJPW/UWF style stuff. Went back and forth a bit on whether they'd both be minority owned by WOS (to keep them away from any other network like Sky...), but that's still to be debated. Figured I'd play it straight from 1985 to 2001 across multiple mods, porting stuff over as I went. And then I'd introduce new challengers as periods went by, with NWA UK Hammerlock, World Association of Wrestling and then of course Frontier Wrestling Alliance...

Sounds a bit grandiose, I know. I can't see Max etc selling to anyone who'd take control, most they ever did was rebrand as RWS and get lucky with Davey Boy. Dixon also wouldn't work with Big Daddy as he'd lose half his roster and they'd take their belts with them. Most likely in 85 you'd have had Jackie Pallo and his promotion get some backing and then either BBC who'd had a satellite based joint venture fail in May 85 or Channel 4 give them TV time.

Shirley really, genuinely, wouldn't have been anything without being Big Daddy and Dixon would never eeeeeeever have run with it. Being a Crabtree, he was evidently pushed and pushed and...well, you get the idea. It all gets messy if you use 75 as Joint was the controlling body for Dale Martin etc. If someone else other than the Crabtrees had been in control then Dixon may have never gone "national" in 84. 1981 is a good year for a diversion point, that's when Joint renewed the TV deal and Dixon/Pallo missed out.

Favourites...Johnny Saint, The Rockers (though Tommy Lorne died in a car crash), Keith Haward and Alan Kilby. What if the NWA had came to the UK? Where would their tv have been? UK only had 3 channels until 82, plus UK fans had been trained to believe American all in wrestling was inferior. Channel 4 showed NFL from 82 on, so Americana was in the public eye.

Though telling someone in the 1960s that the Crabtree brothers were going to destroy the most powerful monopoly in wrestling would probably surprise them. I think I'll have to stick with it, if only for a lack of recognition for wrestlers who could have filled the family friendly role with ease.

Favourites...Johnny Saint, The Rockers (though Tommy Lorne died in a car crash), Keith Haward and Alan Kilby. He had ties with everyone, so maybe he decides to try getting in there instead of fighting Vince on his own ground?

How's it going?

So i was just wandering how ready the 2011 mod is and what is it still missing?<img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

If they are signed exclusively somewhere else, they can't and the company won't happen. THe same thing can happen with NWA-TNA if Jerry Jarrett is under a Written deal with the WWE or somewhere.

If a Mandatory owner is not available when the promotion is set to open, that promotion will never open. I've suggested that at the start of each month, the game do a quick check to see if that owner is available to open the promotion.

Hey guys, I love the 1987 mod. I was holding off on posting this until I finished getting Wrestlemania up in my diary, but you should know I ran into this:

You guys may want to alter his personality so he agrees to the haircut. I obviously altered it in my game, but I figured I'd give you a heads up.

Hi guys,

Perhaps a silly question, but I've installed all the mods and almost none of the pictures are associating with wrestlers/companies. Is this something I need to manually assign myself?

EDIT: Was indeed a silly question and have found the answer myself, disregard <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
