QAW: Passing The Torch

Recommended Posts

<p>And Brooke gets a title! Honestly really surprised by that, but I like it.</p><p> </p><p>

Charity was a dark horse in the Battle Royal so I'm glad to see her win. She is one of those 'on the cusp' members of your roster, so I'm interested to see where this goes.</p><p> </p><p>

The main event was great, and I like the interplay you had between Chitose and Purple Viper. I know it was probably unintentional, but did I detect a little bit of Ariwara getting full of herself at the end? <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Opening Match: <strong>Killer Kass </strong>vs Águila Azul Celeste</p><p>

<em>Um...wow. Hopefully Blue Sky Eagle will fly again after this.</em></p><p>

Match 2: <strong>Ronin 3</strong> vs Chitose Ariwara, Etsuko Arihyoshi & Gemmei Oonishi - Shockwave Trios Top Contender match</p><p>

<em>Hmmm. This is interesting. More tension with Ronin 3? Or do you go the heel vs heel route? You haven't shied away from that in the past, so I'll say Ronin wins, but Ariwara stays strong.</em></p><p>

Match 3: Capitano vs <strong>Higa</strong> - Queen of the Ring Qualifier</p><p>

<em>Ah! I can't bet against Higa, and I know Capitano doesn't mind putting people over. </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Match 4: Foxxy LaRue & ??? vs <strong>The Untouchables ©</strong> for the Tag Team titles</p><p>

<em>Really not confident in this pick, but I'll say you're not going to cut the legs out from under Talia after her big win. Because this is in the South East, I'll say Foxxy can absorb the loss easier here than in Texas.</em></p><p>

Main Event: TBA</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p> </p><p>

Which is the match of the night? If the main event is Paige vs Cherry, I say <strong>Main Event</strong>, though tag title match has a chance.</p><p>

Who is the mystery wrestler Foxxy teams up with? I feel like this is hinting at a debuting wrestler. I'm probably missing something obvious, so I'll go <strong>Hellcat Hernandez</strong>.</p><p>

Paige Croft use her wild card to set up a match. Who does she challenge, and what are the stakes? (2 possible points)</p><p>

Has to be <strong>Cherry </strong>right? I feel like it is so obvious that it won't be. With Chitose already wrestling ealier, that takes out my other guess. I'll say Paige looks for revenge against Cherry. She puts her place in the Queen of the Ring tournament up for grabs, but <strong>if Cherry loses, she can't go after any of the remaining spots</strong>. Could it be Dharma too, if you could get her out of in ring retirement?</p><p> </p><p>

And let’s do another survey. Each answer give another bonus point. There are no wrong answers, I just want to hear your thoughts.</p><p> </p><p>

Who is your favorite wrestler or personality in QAW? Why? <em>Ah, so many to choose from! Paige is high on the list for me, as is Chitose, but you know I'm a mark for Teresa Perez. There are a lot of reasons for this, but here are a few: not having booked her before, she was a blank slate for me coming into this diary; she's the first wrestler in this diary I found myself rooting for; she's had a lot of ups and downs that make me invested in what happens to her; she's not overwhelmingly talented so it's a underdog situation when she is going up against so many stars.</em></p><p>

Which is your favorite match from recent events (let's stick to the month of September)? <em>Tough, but I'll say Chitose vs Purple Viper from the last event. I felt this had a lot of moving parts but I like the personality aspects you included. Whatever heel you choose to feud with Chitose long-term should result in fun story.</em></p><p>

Which storyline in recent memory has been more compelling to you? <em>Got to say that I'm enjoying the different clans (both Mexico and Japan) that you have introduced. It's not all connected yet, but I think this is something different on this board and is perfect for the product. I sense that you are having a lot of fun with it too. Capitano being booted out by Kass and Cherry's turn is also up there, but I feel like that is still in the early stages.</em></p><p>

Which non-event post - interview, fact sheet, Wrestling Gazetteer segment etc - have you enjoyed the most? <em>Is it weird that I enjoy the small wrestler profiles a lot? The description of Charity as part Finn Balor finally helped me make the connection to her character as a heel. Outside of that, Jarvis' interview was something interesting and different out of the recent group.</em></p><p>

What's missing, and/or what can I do better? Is there a segment/interlude you particularly wish I would write?</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I'm enjoying each show, but having struggled with wordcount myself, I know that sometimes doing shows this way can be a burden. I think if you are feeling burned out, going to summary shows for the weekly events and the usual length for the PPVs would work. There is only so much you can do to make each match feel different, and when your doing 20+ a month, it's hard to keep that going.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Other than that, I think you always find a good balance between segments and matches, and you've managed to develop a myraid of different wrestlers and their personalities, so no compliants from me. </em><img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

The Best and the Worst

http://i.imgur.com/Qz1443V.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/mJyxOlO.jpg

Billy Barton:
It’s been a while since we sat down and talked about what’s going on in QAW, but even more so, it’s been some time since we looked back on what has passed. It is that time of year after all, we’re approaching Dia De Los Muertes, All Hallows Eve. An appropriate time for reflection?

Phil Vibert:
Nobody has died Billy. We are making lists. It’s not that complicated.

Billy:
Alright, we have a few to go through, so let’s get to it. Where do you want to start?

Phil:
Well, let’s get the negative out of the way. Let’s start with the worst matches of 2018.

Billy:
Man, they’re easy to forget, but there has been some stinkers this year even if I think the quality of matches is only increasing.

Phil:
In face, let’s save some time here. Let’s rattle them off, but I don’t want to talk about each of these stinkers. I have better things to do with my life.

Billy:
Alright. Here we go:

The Worst matches of 2018

  1. Foxxy LaRue wins Battle Royal at Roll the Bones (Match Rating 22)

  2. Talia Quinzel over Alexis Lee at Army of One W2 of August (Match Rating 39)

  3. Etsuko Arihyoshi over Maribel Mercado at Army of One W3 of September (Match Rating 39)

  4. Higa over Charity Sweet at Army of One W1 of June (Match Rating: 41)

  5. Maria Guest over Alexis Lee, Claire Winters & Darkness Cat at Army of One W1 of April (Match Rating 41)

http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg

Phil:
The Roll the Bones Battle Royal in April, won by Foxxy LaRue. What an incredible mess. I don’t think anyone involved did a particularly good job. Booker, road agent, wrestlers… I think they all dropped the ball that night.

Billy:
Meandering, aimless, confusing… “The day wrestling died,” my bench neighbour called it, a little melodramatic perhaps. It sure wasn’t good. Thankfully, that show was main evented by a match that takes place on one of the more positive lists.

Phil:
I hated that match so much. It buried people that needed to shine, and nobody came out looking roses, even Foxxy who won. What does it feel like, to be remembered as winner of the worst match in company history?

Billy:
I’m a staunch advocate for QAW, but I would rather pretend that match never happened.

The Best singles matches of 2018

Phil:
Enough of the stinkers. Let’s do the singles matches now then. The BEST singles matches in 2018. Which as so happens, are also the best singles matches in QAW history. 2018 was the year QAW came into their own and started putting on real quality wrestling.

Billy:
So this gets a bit tricky. We have two matches we agree are the number one and two, but then four matches we can’t agree about. Are they just tied for third then?

Phil:
Unless you are willing to admit you are wrong.

http://i.imgur.com/KMaU7bZ.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/TsoCedO.jpg

Billy:
Alright, alright. They’re all excellent matches. If there were five matches that deserved their "this is awesome" chants, these would be the ones. I’ll start off with one of my favorites, from the first Scars and Stripes of the year, Charity Sweet retaining her Shockworld title against Juana Huracán.
(Match Rating: 82)

Phil:
I know Charity is your favorite ever since that time she sat in your lap, but I will concede they put on a great match. You expect a title match to be good, but this good? I honestly didn’t think they had it in them. Now I know.

Billy:
I wish you wouldn’t joke about that… Charity is a sweet girl with a mob connected boyfriend. I don’t want to be taken blindfolded out into the desert and disposed of just because Vinny Cruz got the wrong idea.

http://i.imgur.com/KMaU7bZ.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg

Phil:
I’m sure Vinny isn’t the jealous type at all. I also have a Charity Sweet match on my list, against the current World champion, Chitose Ariwara at Army of One, week 4 of March. Again, Charity was defending her Shockwave title, and again, she retained.
(Match Rating: 82)

Billy:
Even though she lost, you could say this was Chitose Ariwara’s breakthrough match.

Phil:
It was an eye opener for everyone I think. They were a natural fit, two sides of the same high flying coin. After that match, Chitose went on to claim the Shockwave title, and put on nearly as good matches against Capitano, against Brooke Tyler and Laura Flame, and in each of those cases, the opponent might have had their personal match of the year. At least if we stick to singles matches.

http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg

Billy:
Yeah, we’ll get back to tag matches later. Strong tag team matches has become something of a QAW trademark. My next pick is another of Chitose’s matches. After her Shockwave run she got a shot at the World championship against Paige Croft at Scars and Stripes in June. (Match Rating: 82) Just like her first attempt at the Shockwave title she came up short, and while it was a great match, it felt a little bit like the diminutive Paige Croft was a size too big for Chitose. Figuratively speaking.

http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/oz8ZpSz.jpg

Phil:
I agree and I disagree. Paige Croft was on such a roll that she seemed unbeatable, but Ariwara showed that she could hang with the best. And a month later, the result would be another. The final of these four matches tied for third is a large reason for making this in the first place. It is the most recent World title match where Chitose Ariwara for the first time defended her championship. Her first defense came against Purple Viper at Scars and Stripes September.
(Match Rating:82)

Billy:
A new World champion, I guess everyone wondered what kind of champion she was going to be. I guess the answer is, the kind that put up some of the best matches QAW has ever seen.

Phil:
Give some credit to Purple Viper as well. She makes this match work. Ring generals like her are rare in this business, and she’s better than most of them.

http://i.imgur.com/W9znUzz.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg

Billy:
On to the two matches that float to the top.In second place, for the World title, at the same Roll the Bones as that terrible Battle Royal, Zoe Amiss defeated Paige Croft, by count out. Meaning Paige Croft retained the title.
(Match Rating: 83)

Phil:
That was Paige’s only singles loss between January when she won the title until August when she lost it to Ariwara. The chemistry between the two was just outstanding. Amiss had been feuding the first months of the year with Bad Girls Club - Capitano and Foxxy LaRue, then slipped seemlessly into this program with the new top heel, Paige Croft.

http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/W9znUzz.jpg

Billy:
Paige in the end allowed herself to be counted out in order to hold on to her title. It was a great match, but not as great as the rematch two months later. At a regular Army of One, week 2 of June in what came to become Zoe Amiss last match in QAW, they tore the house down. Amiss put everything out there, but Paige Croft still retained.
(Match Rating: 86)

Phil:
I guess it’s a matter of taste if you like some of the tag team matches better than this, but for my money, this is the best match you have ever seen in a QAW ring. It is one of the great mysteries why Amiss after a phenomenal, career defining match like this went to her employer and handed in her letter of resignation.

Billy:
Since then, it’s as though she has gone into semi-retirement. Ironically, she recently repeated the match against Paige Croft, but this time in AAA for the Femme Fatale title. Once more, Paige retained, after another good match between the two.But that is the only match she has gone since she turned her back on QAW.

Phil:
It’s been suggested the weight of responsibility affected her badly. Being made the figurehead of QAW and perhaps not being completely ready for it might have soured relationships with the company. But I don’t know. Rumours abound.

Billy:
So, in summary, the top 5 singles matches so far in QAW:

  1. Paige Croft over Zoe Amiss, at Army of One W2 of June for the World title
    (86)

  2. Zoe Amiss over Paige Croft © by DQ, at Roll the Bones for the World title
    (83)

  3. Chitose Ariwara over Purple Viper at Scars and Stripes September for the World title
    (82)

  4. Paige Croft over Chitose Ariwara at Scars and Stripes June for the World title
    (82)

  5. Charity Sweet over Chitose Ariwara at Army of One W4 of April for the Shockwave title
    (82)

  6. Charity Sweet over Juana Huracán at Scars and Stripes January for the Shockwave title
    (82)

The best tag team matches of 2018

Phil:
Alright, let’s explain why we’re doing tag matches after the best singles matches? Shouldn’t we do the most prestigious category last?

Billy:
Ok, it might be a little backwards, but bear with me. Traditionally, singles competition is seen as the purer form, always a little more prestigious than tag team wrestling. But QAW has over and over showed how good tag team matches *can* be when they’re taken seriously. They have turned the tag team match form into a signature match type. It deserves the recognition.

Phil:
So, before we delve into the list, who are the more prolific tag teams, or wrestlers on this list?

Billy:
With three entries on the list, Foxxy LaRue is the tag team queen. Then there are two teams that appear twice - Bubblegum Brawlers and the defunct Wrecking Crew.

Phil:
Consisting of Zoe Amiss and Alina America. You know what I notice? Not a single Dogs of War appearance. Are they an overrated tag team?

Billy:
I don’t think that’s really fair. During their run as champions, they held a consistent high level, but yeah, I guess there weren’t any five star matches. Plenty of four and a halfs though.

http://i.imgur.com/W9znUzz.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/syXKQSr.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/omWPFiT.jpg

Phil:
Alright, number five on our list, after some discussion, the Wrecking Crew defeated Bad Girls - LaRue and Laura Flame - at Army of One, week 3 of January.
(Match Rating: 83)

Billy:
And this wasn’t even a title match! Heck, it wasn’t really even a top contender match as neither team ended up next in line for a title match.

Phil:
These were two teams that were not satisfied being relegated to number 3 and 4 on the totem pole. And neither of these teams would ever go on to become champions. Crazy.

Billy:
Never say never. At least Laura Flame and Foxxy LaRue are still wrestling in QAW.

Phil:
Your completely unfounded optimism is your absolute worst trait, you know.

Billy:
I just like to think it could still happen one day. Number four on the list is a more recent match. The Bubblegum Brawlers were fighting with the newly formed Princesses of Pain - Paige Croft and Maribel Mercado - to become top contenders to the tag team titles at Army of One, first week in May.
(Match Rating: 83)

Phil:
Bubblegum Brawlers are the prime example of how the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts. Sure, Christy Higgins and Teresa Perez are fine wrestlers, I will take nothing away from them as individual competitors, but as a tag team, they are phenomenal.

Billy:
This was sort of the build up to the build up to the temporary break up of Bubblegum Brawlers. They failed to recapture their titles from the Dogs of War, floundered a bit as other teams wanted to claim their place at the top, and eventually came the breakup.

Phil:
Relationship problems. Just what I want to see more of when I escape home to watch some wrestling. In third place on our list, and now we’re getting to the tough decisions.

Billy:
Basically, three matches, and we can’t decide which is the best.

http://i.imgur.com/eV5dEGc.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/oz8ZpSz.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/JDg7ZNg.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/tjDJHC2.jpg

Phil:
Speak for yourself. I know which one this expert likes best. But now we’re talking about the third on our list. And it’s another non-title match. Is it hard to put on good title matches? That seems strange. Anyway, in this grudge match, Melody and Purple Viper defeated the Bubblegum Brawlers at Scars and Stripes in week 4 of May.
(Match Rating: 86)

Billy:
A feud was going on between Purple Viper and Teresa Perez, and since Teresa had a partner, Purple Viper recruited Melody to her side and laid waste to the Brawlers.

Phil:
It was a glorious match. I like the Bubblegum Brawlers best when they losing, getting beat up.

Billy:
Well, you got your fill in this match. Their never say die attitude completely had the crowd onboard, but it was not to be this night.

Phil:
In truth, this match established them as one of the great tag teams in women’s wrestling. The previous match, you could explain away as a fluke, being carried to a great match by a phenomenal opponent, but this match put them beyond that kind of discussion. Make a fan vote for the best match in QAW history, and this match would get its share of the votes. Not mine, but I won’t make fun of you for being wrong. But on to number two. Here there was some discussion required to come to an agreement.

Billy:
Some strong arming, more like it.

Phil:
When you’re so obviously wrong, I have to speak up or people might think you’re right.

http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/HVIJsmp.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/UQQevgf.jpg

Billy:
… So, in second place: Chitose Ariwara & Foxxy Larue defeat Jillian Jarvis & Brooke Tyler at Army of One, first week of August. Why don’t you like this match, Phil?

Phil:
Are you kidding me? I loved it. Goody-two shoes Ariwara was beaten up with a kendo stick. What’s there not to like? Yeah, the wrestling leading up to the messy finish was great, but it was a DQ finish, and it didn’t really mean much. In contrast, the #1 match felt like it meant everything.

Billy:
Alright, I give you that, but I still saw significance in that match. The old top babyface passing the torch to the new as part of her own road to redemption.

Phil:
Pfah. Did anyone else see that unfold, or was it all in your head?

Billy:
Well… It was not explicit...but it was there if you looked for it.

http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/W9znUzz.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/syXKQSr.jpg

Phil:
You see what you want to see, nothing more. Anyway, in FIRST place: Foxxy LaRue & Capitano vs the Wrecking Crew, Army of One week 4 of January.

Billy:
This was right before the cracks were starting to show in the Bad Girls Club - the first time. Later the same week at Scars and Stripes, Foxxy would lose her World title to Paige Croft, and a few months later, Foxxy was out of the club.

Phil:
As a feud, it really was above titles. Zoe Amiss was the top babyface in the company, and Alina America had long been feuding with Capitano. As you say, it was the last time the Bad Girls Club stood tall with Foxxy in their ranks. The next time the heel stable would hold any title was when Killer Kass filled the empty space left after Foxxy turned face and the Dogs of War claimed the tag team titles.

Billy:
You know what I notice? Not a single one of these five tag team matches were about a title.

  1. Foxxy LaRue & Capitano over the Wrecking Crew (Amiss & America) at Army of One W4 of January
    (86)

  2. Chitose Ariwara & Foxxy LaRue over Jillian Jarvis & Brooke Tyler by DQ at Army of One W1 of August
    (86)

  3. Melody & Purple Viper over Bubblegum Brawlers (Perez & Higgins) at Army of One W2 of May
    (86)

  4. Bubblegum Brawlers over Princesses of Pain (Croft & Mercado) at Army of One W1 of May
    (83)

  5. The Wrecking Crew over Bad Girls (LaRue & Flame) at Army of One W3 of January
    (83)

The most popular wrestlers in QAW

Phil:
Alright, so if we look at the names recurring on those lists, we should be able to figure out who the most popular wrestlers in QAW are, right? Right?

Billy:
Leading question, your honor. No, it’s obviously a lot more that goes into who the fans latch on to and not. Good gimmicks, microphone work, good storylines and any number of intangibles.

http://i.imgur.com/HVIJsmp.jpg

Phil:
Ok, so to start from fifth place and work our way up. The psychopath leader of Ronin 3, four time World champion, clearly proof that “popularity” does not equate to love. Jillian Jarvis receives a lot more fear or hate. Well, I love her. If there is one here who would have done well in DAVE, it’s Jarvis.
(Pop: 74)

Billy:
When new tough guys start taking up space, she’s there to remind them of their place. Jarvis endures.

http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg

Phil:
In fourth place, the other four time World champion, Foxxy LaRue.
(Pop: 75)

Billy:
Since her face turn earlier this year, Foxxy has kind of been biding her time. Supported a lot of other up and coming wrestlers. With quite a few losses in recent times, you could imagine her popularity would have waned, but here she is, top 5 in QAW.

Phil:
I will say this. In a company with wildly international influences, both puro and lucha taking a lot of room, Foxxy LaRue represents a modern, updated wholly American wrestling tradition. It’s no-nonsense and hard hitting but not lumbering and slow. It’s no wonder people like to watch her wrestle. She’s exciting, her gimmick as the defender of QAW is really over, and she’s good on the microphone.

http://i.imgur.com/LqQJWHu.jpg

Billy:
No argument here. Now, in third place. This has been something of a revelation for me. Who knew the rise of the Untouchables, the feud with American Sweethearts and claiming the vacant tag team titles against Birds of Prey would elevate Talia Quinzel to this kind of popularity?
(Pop: 83)

Phil:
Crowds love to hate her, Billy. Forget Jillian Jarvis, forget Killer Kass and Cherry Bomb, in the eyes of the crowd, this is the top heel in QAW.

Billy:
Talia complained that she was being held back in American Sweethearts. Seems like she has proven her point. And she’s good on the microphone. One of the better talkers in the company.

http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg

Phil:
Second place. The Submission Princess, the tiny terminator, the former World champion, Paige Croft.
(Pop: 88)

Billy:
Do you think her popularity has decreased since she lost her title?

Phil:
Not one bit. I think things are a bit in the air, a long time now she has gotten heel heat, but she’s so popular that I think many look forward to being able to cheer her without that feeling that they should be booing.

Billy:
For being someone not entirely comfortable on the microphone, it’s incredible how well she’s been able to get over. The Machine gimmick really works for her.

Phil:
I for one hope they’re just teasing the face turn.

http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg

Billy:
They’re not teasing, she *is* a face! I refuse to think anything else. Anyway, just one name left on our list, and by now, it should be obvious who #1 is. It is the top babyface in the company, the World champion, Chitose Ariwara.
(Pop: 90)

Phil:
That bubbly personality has made the QAW universe fall in love with her. She’s a solid in ring performer, some would argue that maybe she’s not the best in the company but the number of her matches we have listed earlier on this episode should say something - she deliver some of the best performances QAW has ever seen.

Billy:
There are no problems with any of the gimmicks these women use, but Chitose’s portrayal of the bubbly babyface is something we’ll be talking about on the retirement home when we sum up our memories of professional wrestling. It’s that special.

Phil:
I hate to agree with you, but there you go. Any honorable mentions?

http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/JDg7ZNg.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/tjDJHC2.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/EY6rdjY.jpg

Billy:
Sure. After the top three really, it gets quite close. Capitano (73), Christy Higgins (72) and Teresa Perez (72) are right there. And let’s mention the one non-wrestler that is a draw right on her own, Hannah Potter (82).

Top 5 by popularity:

  1. Chitose Ariwara: 90

  2. Paige Croft: 88

  3. Talia Quinzel: 83

  4. Foxxy LaRue: 75

  5. Jillian Jarvis: 74

Billy:
And that's a wrap for this list filled episode. Still working out the schedule for the next few episodes, but among other things we have an interview in the pipeline that should be something to look forward to. Can't reveal too much, but it's an interview I've been waiting for an opportunity to make for a while. Until then, be awesome. Barton out.

<p>Really good review of the top performers and top matches in the company. I guess I really thought Killer Kass would have a bit more pop and I'm shocked that the champ is so over both ing the ring and with the fans. I really didn't realize that she had that much sizzle to her.</p><p> </p><p>

I still think because I am bias towards heels that Paige is your MVP but based on performances and pop maybe it is Chitose.</p><p> </p><p>

Looking forward to the next event</p>

<p>Opening Match: <strong>Killer Kass</strong> vs Águila Azul Celeste</p><p>

<em>Murder-Death-Killing, thy name is Kass.</em></p><p>

Match 2: <strong>Ronin 3</strong> vs Chitose Ariwara, Etsuko Arihyoshi & Gemmei Oonishi - Shockwave Trios Top Contender match</p><p>

<em>How do you pick against the woman who's the top face in QAW? By figuring that one of her teammates takes the loss.</em></p><p>

Match 3: Capitano vs <strong>Higa</strong> - Queen of the Ring Qualifier</p><p>

<em>Cappy is able to take losses without complaint, while Higa...well, isn't. Higa gets her ticket punched here.</em></p><p>

Match 4: Foxxy LaRue & ??? vs <strong>The Untouchables</strong> © for the Tag Team titles</p><p>

<em>Surely it's too soon...isn't it?</em></p><p>

Main Event: TBA</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

Which is the match of the night? <strong>Your mystery main event</strong></p><p>

Who is the mystery wrestler Foxxy teams up with? <strong>Hellcat Hernandez!</strong></p><p>

Paige Croft use her wild card to set up a match. Who does she challenge, and what are the stakes? (2 possible points) <strong>Cherry Bomb, and let's see...a ticket to the Queen of the Ring?</strong></p><p> </p><p>

And let’s do another survey. Each answer give another bonus point. There are no wrong answers, I just want to hear your thoughts.</p><p>

Who is your favorite wrestler or personality in QAW? Why?</p><p>

<em>A single favorite is hard, and it's changed as different storylines have run, but right now I'm really digging Jillian Jarvis. She's reminding me a little of the early heel run Stone Cold, an utter sociopath who revels in violence. She's a wonderful plot mover for QAW.</em></p><p>

Which is your favorite match from recent events (let's stick to the month of September)?</p><p>

<em>I really dug the Cherry Bomb/Paige in a Cage match. The level of brutality in that match was so much higher than QAW's standard product - which is good, because if all of QAW was that violent, then it wouldn't stand out at all.</em></p><p>

Which storyline in recent memory has been more compelling to you?</p><p>

<em>I'm liking the back and forth with Brayfield and Arihyoshi. So many ways that can go, and I'm never sure which way that's going to be.</em></p><p>

Which non-event post - interview, fact sheet, Wrestling Gazetteer segment etc - have you enjoyed the most?</p><p>

<em>I became a Jarvis fan with her interview. What's cooler than cool? Ice cold.</em></p><p>

What's missing, and/or what can I do better? Is there a segment/interlude you particularly wish I would write?</p><p>

<em>I'm never really sure what events are your "special" events - the ones where the stakes are just higher, compared to your "normal" shows. Maybe building up the cachet of a couple of events in your yearly schedule (like WWE's "Big Four") might help get across what the biggest shows of the year are?</em></p>

<p>Card for Army of One Week 1 October 2018</p><p> </p><p>

Held at the Arkansas Collisseum (South East)</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Opening Match: <strong>Killer Kass</strong> vs Águila Azul Celeste</p><p>

<strong>Kass is GONNA K-I-L-L her</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Match 2: <strong>Ronin 3</strong> vs Chitose Ariwara, Etsuko Arihyoshi & Gemmei Oonishi - Shockwave Trios Top Contender match</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hard choice but I'm Rocking with my fav. Stable on this one</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Match 3: Capitano vs Higa - Queen of the Ring Qualifier</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Another hard choice for me but Capitano can eat a loss here and we gotta have Higa in the QOTR tourney. Right?</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Match 4: Foxxy LaRue & ??? vs The Untouchables © for the Tag Team titles</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Foxy and her mystery partner to win the Tag Team Titles</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Main Event: TBA</p><p> </p><p>

Which is the match of the night?</p><p>

<strong>Mystery Main Event</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Red Hot Laura Flame</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong> Cherry Bomb and the stakes are the QOTR tourney spot</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Who is your favorite wrestler or personality in QAW? Why?</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>Jillian Jarvis. I've never really played with QAW and Ive never signed her to the AAA because I was always kinda perplexed on how to book her with characters that I thought was very similar to her. So I loved how you've written her and made her distinct, imo, amongst the other badd asses on the roster.</strong></strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>

Which is your favorite match from recent events (let's stick to the month of September)?</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong><strong><strong>Cherry Bomb and Paige Croft</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

Which non-event post - interview, fact sheet, Wrestling Gazetteer segment etc - have you enjoyed the most?</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

</strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>Def. the last one you just did detaling the best and worst. You should continue to do that quarterly of semi-annually. I loved it and will def. wanna do something akin to that in my own diary. It shows you have a real grasp on this world/diary you are creating</strong></strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

What's missing, and/or what can I do better? Is there a segment/interlude you particularly wish I would write?</strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong> </strong></strong></p><p><strong><strong>

</strong></strong><strong><strong><strong>I can't really say this diary is missing anything or can been done better. I'm really enjoying it. From the characters, to the interludes, to the in depth match write ups. It's really friggin' great man. Keep it up!</strong></strong></strong></p>

The match is a one sided affair, Águila Azul Celeste a likeable babyface who does her best against an overwhelming foe. Hannah Potter ringside does a good job being horrified at the violence her client is being subjected to. The match is short and ends with a violent Kill Switch power bomb.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Killer Kass wins by pinfall in 6:12</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Match Rating: C-</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"></p></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We switch to a filmed segment. We get a first person view filmed in desaturated, nearly black and white colors. The camera focuses on the inside of a frosted glass door. Printed text on the other side of the door reads “Vinny Cruz Sports Agency”. The narrators voice helps add to the noir aesthetics:</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>“Okay, Vinny,”</em></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I said to myself, </div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>“You’re a tough guy. You’ve been sapped, beaten to within an inch of your life. You’ve been shot at, shot up until you were crazy as a couple of waltzing mice. Nothing that compared to what I had gotten myself into when I took on this job. Femme fatales? That does not begin to describe these dangerous dames.”</em></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/HVIJsmp.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/nI873Lc.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The camera slowly zooms out. Next to the door, leaning against the door is Jillian Jarvis. She’s filthier than ever, testy hair, her biker leathers and club vest look like they haven’t been washed since forever. Her arms are patiently crossed over her chest. The camera slowly sweeps around the room, showing the imposing Deborah Young casually studying a photo on the wall, the way you might do when you have run out of things to read in your doctor’s restroom. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/KMaU7bZ.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/C72IwBr.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The camera moves on, turns a bit, revealing a small, dusty office. Behind a messy desk, Charity Sweet is sitting in Vinny Cruz lap, looking smashing in a tight fitting dress showing off a lot of her well shaped legs. Vinny is stoically enduring her attentions, his attention not leaving the most dangerous of the three, Jillian Jarvis.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Sugar muffin,” Charity says with her sweetest voice into Vinny’s ear, while she’s playfully tracing the outline of his face with her finger. “I don’t want to alarm you, but Jillian is a little upset with you.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I believe I have done what I’ve been asked to, but I don’t want my clients to be unhappy. What’s the problem?” He addresses Jillian, but it is Charity, still in his ear that answers.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Jillian thinks that it’s been too long since anyone from Ronin 3 was involved in a title match. As our agent, are you taking enough care of our interests? She also thinks it would be nice if you showed some interest in our matches and actually showed up for them.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Vinny nods, fishes up a cigarette out of a pack with his free hand, then goes for the lighter, only to realize it’s on the far end of his desk, and he’d have to get Charity out of his lap to reach it. With a sigh he puts the cigarette away again.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“It’s good we’re on the same page then, because I have been able to book you in a title match tonight for the Shockwave Trios titles. And of course will I be there to watch you claim the belts.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Charity turns to Jillian with a big smile. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“See? I told you Sugar Muffin wouldn’t let us down,” she coos and gives him a wet kiss. Jillian looks less impressed, studying him through squinting eyes as we fade to black.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 2: Ronin 3 /w Vinny Cruz vs Chitose Ariwara, Gemmei Oonishi & Etsuko Arihyoshi /w Boss Man Brayfield - Shockwave Trios Top Contender match</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Chitose clearly isn’t happy that Etsuko is bringing Boss Man along, Etsuko seems to shrug and apologize, while a wordless Gemmei gives Boss Man the evil eye. In the other ring corner, Vinny Cruz is straightening his tie, offering Charity an encouraging smile. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As the match starts, Ronin 3 show they’ve picked up the finer points of lucha style trios matches and happily take the action to the outside where Jarvis and Young really come into their own. The only thing keeping the match somewhat close is the selfless efforts by Ariwara to keep either Young, Jarvis or sometimes both busy, and Boss Man subtly interfering, which ends when Vinny gets in Boss Man’s face, making quite clear he’s not above beating up an older man. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Chitose doesn’t have time to pay the managers any attention, and Etsuko is too busy staving off Jillian Jarvis, but Gemmei does and responds by diving out of the ring toward the two managers, sending them both to the floor with a beautful cross body. When she gets up she gives both of them the two finger, “I’m watching you” gesture, which unfortunately distracts her from Charity Sweet’s Sugar Smack which sends her hard into the crowd barriers. Charity is quick to drag Gemmei into the ring and covers her for the 1-2-3.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Charity Sweet wins by pinfall in 16:40</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

We already know Charity Sweet is in the tournament and I’m sure others are interested to get involved as well. Now, Hannah Potter and Paige Croft has entered the ring, let’s see what they have to say.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Last week you won the right to book a match against any opponent. I understand you have made up your mind?” Hannah says. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Paige stands perfectly straight, looking Hannah straight at the co-GM with her clear blue eyes. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I have.” She pauses, long enough that Hannah Potter is about to say something, but Paige continues.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I have been called a machine for the way I wrestle. And I think it is fair to say I’ve built a hard shell around me for protection. If I am a winner, what is criticism worth? It bounces off. So was I the wrestler without heart? It hurts to admit, but maybe. Lately, I have been forced to re-examine other aspects of who I am as well. Am I both the tinman and the cowardly lion at once?”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Paige pauses, letting her words breathe. It was a long time since she strung so many words together the last time. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I think I’m setting out on a journey of self-discovery, but I don’t expect a yellow brick road. I don’t know what’s out there in wait for me. All I know is, I have been given a short cut to the Wicked Witch, and this is the first step I need to take. Hannah, I want a match against Cherry Bomb.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hannah raises her eyebrows. “Are you sure? It did not turn out well the last time.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Paige nods. “This is something I need to do. Just do it.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hannah shrugs. “Ok, don’t say I didn’t try to stave this off. Tonight then, the main event will be Paige Croft facing Cherry Bomb. You prize included choosing the stipulation, what do you want? A submissions only match?”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry Bomb walks out on the ramp and stops there, a microphone in hand.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“What do you want?” Paige almost snarls, the most emotive she’s been all evening.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Well well. I was just thinking, it’s not really fair, is it? That you get to challenge me, and choose the match form? In old times, the challenged got the favor to choose weapons. Why don’t you let me select the match form?” Cherry says with a smile, devil’s horns practically growing out her forehead.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Why would I do that? It was my prize to select the match stipulation,” Paige says, shaking her head.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry does not seem surprised at Paige’s reaction, instead produces her golden Queen of the Ring ticket.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“How about I put this on the line? You know I don’t have to - you can choose whatever stipulation you like, but this ticket is mine. But if you let me choose the stipulation, we’ll fight for this ticket. Not only that: I declare here and now, I will not participate in another qualifier for the tournament. If you win, I’m out, you’re in.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Paige looks at her for a long time - you can’t help but get the feeling she knows she’s about to make a decision.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“One condition. No stupid handicap match. I want a fight with you, not you and your posse, whoever you run with now.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry grins. “Scout’s honor.“</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Paige shrugs. “Pick your stipulation.” </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry looks like she’s thinking hard before answering. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I think I want a Last Woman Standing match. No submissions. No disqualifications. No countouts.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry waves her ticket in the air as she turns on her heel and exit stage left, leaving Paige in the ring contemplating what she’s agreed to.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In Dharma Gregg’s office. The door bursts open and Foxxy LaRue storms in. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Dharma!” she exclaims. “What is this tag team you’ve put me in?”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma looks up innocently from filing her nails. “What?”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I don’t work with Laura Flame. I broke with the Bad Girls Club for a reason.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The camera sweeps sharp right, and Laura Flame is right there. “I get it, Fox. I told her it wouldn’t work.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma sits up straight and looks at Foxxy. “Look, I don’t care if you pair up long term or not, but I need a good name on the card opposed to the tag team champions, and reforming the old Bad Girls tag team is money. This is a short term solution. I don’t want to remind you, but you’re under contract, so will you just get on with it?”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Laura’s eyes darken as she turns to Dharma. “Eff you. We’re not your minions to order around as you please.” She turns to Foxxy. “I have nothing left in QAW. If you’re uncomfortable about this, I’ll take the bullet. I’m not going into a tag team match with a partner who don’t have my back. I’ve been there before and I’m done with it.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Foxxy blinks at the sudden outburst from Laura, takes a moment before coming to a decision. “No, it’s alright Laura. For tonight at least, I’ll have your back. Don’t get yourself fired for my sake. Dharma, you have your tag team.” </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

They look at each other wordlessly for a long while before they shake hands. There’s some glaring in Dharma’s general direction as they leave.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As they leave, probably out of earshot, Dharma calls out after them “I would have fired you both, you know! Idiots…”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 3: Capitano vs Higa - Queen of the Ring Qualifier</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

There is a staring match preceding the actual match, before Higa offers a handshake, which Capitano cautiously accepts. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match becomes a series of high spots, culminating in a situation where Higa has climbed after Capitano up a turnbuckle, and after some fighting Capitano ends up in a fireman’s carry on Higa’s shoulders. And rather than drop Capitano into the ring, Higa drops her straight on the corner post, followed by Capitano tumbling via ring apron to the ringside floor.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Higa follows Capitano, drags her back into the ring where Capitano somehow manages to mount a comeback, despite one shoulder being basically useless since landing on the floor. Just when the match is in the balance, Killer Kass appear at the top of the ramp, sneers at the booing crowd, and approaches the ring. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/SrJMR1G.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Referee Erin Lawrence tries to keep her out of the ring, but there is no arguing with Killer Kass who pushes the veteran referee to the side and steps into the ring. Capitano is clearly expecting to be attacked, taking a weary defensive stance, when Kass with surprising agility swings around and double chops Higa straight into the ground.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

There’s a moment of stunned silence as people process what just happened, before Erin Lawrence calls for the bell, and Higa is declared winner by disqualification. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Higa wins by DQ in 12:18</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

That’s the signal for Kass, as she returns her attention to Capitano who is prepared this time. There’s a brief moment when it looks like Capitano will be able to fend off Kass, but it’s short lived as the rested Kass is able to use mass and power to destroy Capitano. The beating only ends when Higa slowly recovers and she’s able to provide a distraction long enough for Capitano to roll out of the ring. Higa in turn, when seeing that Capitano is out of Kass’ reach drops a smoke bomb, and when the smoke clears, like a ninja, she too is gone.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match starts slowly, lots of positioning, brief clashes followed by tag ins. Foxxy is in her element, looking like a star often fighting two opponents at once as Talia and Claire exploit the tag rule to stay in the ring together for as long as possible, but Foxxy keeps them occupied.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Leading up to the end of the match, Laura and Talia has ended up in the ring together, and Laura isn’t faring too well. She has suffered an exploder suplex, fought out of the Spinal Trauma but ate a spinebuster instead. Foxxy desperately wants the hot tag, but just as Laura lunges for the tag, Claire sneaks up behind Foxxy and pulls her off the ring apron. This gives Talia time to pull Laura back in for the Spinal Trauma, and this time she connects. Talia pins Laura for the 1-2-3.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Main Event: Paige Croft vs Cherry Bomb in a Last Woman Standing match</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As the bell rings, the two just circle each other for a moment, Paige not wanting to run straight into Cherry’s fists, and Cherry, as confident as she is, still looks concerned about running into any of Paige’s many submission holds. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry is the first one to make a move, lunging for Paige’s neck, but only finding thin air as Paige slips under her arm, locking in a grip around Cherry’s waist, is met by elbows, but Paige seems to know exactly what to expect, dodging every time. It does have the effect that she’s unable to use her grip for anything however, and Cherry uses the ropes to shake off Paige who rolls to her feet.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The next few exchanges become increasingly violent, and that makes the match shift more and more in Cherry Bomb’s favor. There’s a pin attempt, but it would not have done even in a regular match as Paige raise her shoulder at two. The following sequence see Paige counter into an armbar, perfectly locked in, and Cherry reacts in panic, tapping before she realizes there is no such way out, instead finding leverage from the ropes, dragging herself out of the ring until Paige has no choice but to let go. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry makes space to recover, while Paige follows, considers her options then grabs a steel chair. Before she has time to use it however, Cherry kicks the chair into Paige’s face, goes on to slam Paige into the crowd barrier, then into the ring apron before grabbing the weapon Paige dropped. She hits Paige with the chair, over and over before pushing the unresponsive Paige into the ring. The following pin attempt goes 5...6...7… before Paige slowly raises a shoulder. Cherry looks incredulously at the small woman before leaving the ring, starts digging around underneath the ring, then drags out a table, unfolds it and positions it right in front of the announce table, then when she realize that Paige barely has moved, and so decides to pull out a second table which she slides into the ring. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Just as she finishes positioning the second table, Paige is dragging herself to her knees. When Cherry grabs her to drive Paige through the table with a Cherry Bomb, Paige fights back more through instinct than any plan, but it surprises Cherry, and an elbow to the head dazes her. Paige makes the rare decision to go high, climbing up the top turnbuckle, but Cherry recovers sooner than Paige had expected and she climbs after Paige, and they start trading blows, Cherry locks a grip around Paige’s neck for a super plex, but Paige fights her with punches to the side, Cherry slows down, and with a headbutt and a push, Cherry crashes backward into the table below.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Seeing Cherry lying still in the remains of the table, Paige pats her elbow, then throws herself into a flying elbow which lands, but the landing seems to take just about as much out of Paige herself as her target as the two end up still on the mat, breathing heavily. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After what seems like forever, Cherry Bomb is the first one to her feet. Breaking off a leg off the table she just went through, she starts beating down on Paige, raining down blows. First, Paige tries to get to her feet, but soon she collapses again. Cherry picks her up, lifts her on her shoulders, stumbles unsteadily towards the ropes and delivers the Cherry Bomb over the top rope down on the table below where Paige lands with a sickening crunch.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry Bomb drags Paige back into the ring, pins her, and the long count goes all the way to ten without Paige moving.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Cherry Bomb wins by pinfall in 20:58</strong></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

Having had her arm raised in victory, Cherry slides out of the ring, starts rummaging under the ring again, coming out with a leather dog collar at the end of a long chain. Paige is in no condition to offer any resistance, and soon she’s being dragged around the ring, paraded around by Cherry who occasionally tugs hard on the chain pulling Paige toward her, only for Paige to run into Cherry’s fist. As the crowd grow increasingly furious, Cherry starts taunting them, bring Paige to her knees, taunts her. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Bark for me, dog. Bark like the little bitch you are,” she laughs as she kicks Paige in the head. Not hard, just enough to keep Croft off-balance.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

When the World champion’s music hits, everything stops. Cherry drags Paige to her feet, planting a foot on Paige’s head as she’s trying to figure out what’s going on. At the top of the ramp, Chitose Ariwara walks out. There is a staredown between them, Cherry arrogantly baiting her, waving at Chitose to come at her if she dares. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

That’s when Cherry notices what everybody else has seen, how the Birds of Prey like out of nowhere suddenly are perched on the two turnbuckles behind Cherry. The thunderous missile dropkick from Higa sends Cherry tumbling like a ragdoll out of the ring, and she has barely landed on the ring floor when Gemmei swanton bombs her into the ground. Now Chitose runs down to the ring and helps Paige out of the dog collar. She gives Paige a hug, then raise her arm in the air, encouraging the crowd to give her the final applause of the night.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Prediction Contest Results

And Brooke gets a title! Honestly really surprised by that, but I like it.

Charity was a dark horse in the Battle Royal so I'm glad to see her win. She is one of those 'on the cusp' members of your roster, so I'm interested to see where this goes.

The main event was great, and I like the interplay you had between Chitose and Purple Viper. I know it was probably unintentional, but did I detect a little bit of Ariwara getting full of herself at the end?

I would say Ariwara sounding like she’s getting full of herself might have been me being a little tone deaf when I wrote it, but I like the idea that what’s there stands. She’s the most over person in the company, people cheer her name every night. Who wouldn’t start to believe at least a little bit the myth about herself?
:)

Brooke is someone I like and have such high hopes for. This trios team feels legit though, and an excellent way for her to string together some wins.

As you saw in my recent post about the top matches in QAW in 2018, Charity is such a big match player, it’s just a nice name to have in the tournament..

Opening Match: Killer Kass vs Águila Azul Celeste

Um...wow. Hopefully Blue Sky Eagle will fly again after this.

One day…
:D

Kass is GONNA K-I-L-L her

Ayup.
:D

Kass is on too much of a roll but where is it leading her

It will all be revealed in time…
;)

Match 2: Ronin 3 vs Chitose Ariwara, Etsuko Arihyoshi & Gemmei Oonishi - Shockwave Trios Top Contender match

Win for the rightful Trios Champs Ronin 3

Hmmm. This is interesting. More tension with Ronin 3? Or do you go the heel vs heel route? You haven't shied away from that in the past, so I'll say Ronin wins, but Ariwara stays strong.

Yeah, of course it’s much more natural to go heel vs face, but whatever penalties there are for heel vs heel or face vs face does not seem to be very significant. I think I can tell a heel vs heel story without suffering much mechanically for it.

Match 3: Capitano vs Higa - Queen of the Ring Qualifier

Cap can't keep losing forever, it's time to get one back in the Win Column

One day, that will be true.
:D

Another hard choice for me but Capitano can eat a loss here and we gotta have Higa in the QOTR tourney. Right?

It is time to see what she’s made of.
:)

Match 4: Foxxy LaRue & ??? vs The Untouchables © for the Tag Team titles

Bonus Questions:

Which is the match of the night?
Correct answer: The Tag Team title match, and it wasn’t even very close. Nobody got this, but then I don’t think anyone expected Cherry to pick the stipulation for the main event either. I *think* the main event suffered from the match type as it really wasn’t Paige’s bag.

Who is the mystery wrestler Foxxy teams up with?
- Laura Flame, Foxxy’s old tag team partner who in Capitano’s shadow is taking much the same journey.

Paige Croft use her wild card to set up a match. Who does she challenge, and what are the stakes?
(2 possible points) Cherry Bomb being the opponent was very obvious, and some figured out that the Queen of the Ring ticket was the prize.

Has to be Cherry right? I feel like it is so obvious that it won't be. With Chitose already wrestling ealier, that takes out my other guess. I'll say Paige looks for revenge against Cherry. She puts her place in the Queen of the Ring tournament up for grabs, but if Cherry loses, she can't go after any of the remaining spots. Could it be Dharma too, if you could get her out of in ring retirement?

Almost spooky in it’s accuracy. Almost worth more than two points.

Some answers to the survey:

Who is your favorite wrestler or personality in QAW? Why?

I have really enjoyed your Paige Croft. She was a great champion and I don't know I just liked her tiny terminator deal and the Kurt Angle "I'm gonna make you tap" mentality. I have also liked your Talia character as well

I think they are fun writing. Paige in particular inspires me, because I see room for character development. Like how HHH wouldn’t have been a very interesting character if he had been the Connecticut Blueblood forever, Paige I think will be a more complete character as she develops into a more complete personality.

A single favorite is hard, and it's changed as different storylines have run, but right now I'm really digging Jillian Jarvis. She's reminding me a little of the early heel run Stone Cold, an utter sociopath who revels in violence. She's a wonderful plot mover for QAW.

Jillian Jarvis. I've never really played with QAW and Ive never signed her to the AAA because I was always kinda perplexed on how to book her with characters that I thought was very similar to her. So I loved how you've written her and made her distinct, imo, amongst the other badd asses on the roster.

I’m glad to hear that. I think I’ve said it before, but I think that characters I like writing turn out interesting to read, and that creates a feedback loop as what was interesting in the last update is more interesting to write more about. Jillian is definitely a character I feel have taken on a life of her own.

Ah, so many to choose from! Paige is high on the list for me, as is Chitose, but you know I'm a mark for Teresa Perez. There are a lot of reasons for this, but here are a few: not having booked her before, she was a blank slate for me coming into this diary; she's the first wrestler in this diary I found myself rooting for; she's had a lot of ups and downs that make me invested in what happens to her; she's not overwhelmingly talented so it's a underdog situation when she is going up against so many stars.

Teresa is great. The curse of the QAW product is that I introduce new cool kernels of stories, but then there isn’t room to pursue all of them so a lot gets hanging. I guess I shouldn’t just blame the product, being scatterbrained and drawn to new shiny things doesn’t help.
:)
Teresa is involved in so many stories though, so she will be back in the spotlight before long.

Which is your favorite match from recent events (let's stick to the month of September)?

I really dug the Cherry Bomb/Paige in a Cage match. The level of brutality in that match was so much higher than QAW's standard product - which is good, because if all of QAW was that violent, then it wouldn't stand out at all.

Cherry Bomb and Paige Croft

In my mind, Cherry has a license to go a little above and beyond the product when it comes to those things. Especially now that she has officially turned heel.

Which storyline in recent memory has been more compelling to you?

I have been intrigued by Capitano's fall from the leader of the Bad Girls Club

Got to say that I'm enjoying the different clans (both Mexico and Japan) that you have introduced. It's not all connected yet, but I think this is something different on this board and is perfect for the product. I sense that you are having a lot of fun with it too. Capitano being booted out by Kass and Cherry's turn is also up there, but I feel like that is still in the early stages.

The clans are so out there, I feel I can take them in any direction. Capitano’s story is sort of the perfect opposite. There might be some twists and turns, but on the surface, it’s the most basic redemption story. I’m afraid I tell it a little too often, so maybe time to subvert it a little? On the other hand, as long as you enjoy it, I feel alright.
:)

I'm liking the back and forth with Brayfield and Arihyoshi. So many ways that can go, and I'm never sure which way that's going to be.

I like it too, unfortunately everybody involved are pretty cold as far as popularity goes, so the angles tanks pretty hard. I will take it to a “logical” conclusion, but it might not end in the fireworks I hoped it would. *I* am too invested in it to drop it.

Which non-event post - interview, fact sheet, Wrestling Gazetteer segment etc - have you enjoyed the most?

Is it weird that I enjoy the small wrestler profiles a lot? The description of Charity as part Finn Balor finally helped me make the connection to her character as a heel. Outside of that, Jarvis' interview was something interesting and different out of the recent group.

I enjoyed putting them together, so I won’t judge you for liking them.
:D
To me it has been a tremendous help when visualizing these wrestlers to blend two real world wrestlers to create a unique style for each of these C-verse characters. I didn’t want to just use one name - I didn’t want Talia to just be a female Bobby Roode. Blend Roode’s style with Okada’s, and you end up with something that is uniquely her. Charity isn’t just Finn Bálor, she’s also Rey Mysterio, etc.

Def. the last one you just did detaling the best and worst. You should continue to do that quarterly of semi-annually. I loved it and will def. wanna do something akin to that in my own diary. It shows you have a real grasp on this world/diary you are creating

I will definitely do something similar. Phil Vibert and Billy Barton will get together to sum up what’s going on in QAW and make some new lists again some time in the future.

What's missing, and/or what can I do better? Is there a segment/interlude you particularly wish I would write?

I'm enjoying each show, but having struggled with wordcount myself, I know that sometimes doing shows this way can be a burden. I think if you are feeling burned out, going to summary shows for the weekly events and the usual length for the PPVs would work. There is only so much you can do to make each match feel different, and when your doing 20+ a month, it's hard to keep that going.

Honestly, I tried this time, I just can’t help myself! I think I will continue to put focus on angles and abbreviate matches more and more, boiling them down to what was significant with that match. Problem is, I frequently get into the idea that I’m performing some kind of illusionism, hiding the “real” story among a pile of distractions. I might have to get rid of that bad habit first.
:)

Not sure I have any solid advice here. Your events and stories have all been good overall. I like the differences in the diaries so I don't really have a ton of suggestions. Maybe some more behind the scenes stuff with a Farrah, Bossman and Sarah regarding how the company is doing. Is Farrah happy with how things are going

I think you will find that in this case your word is my command.
;)

I can't really say this diary is missing anything or can been done better. I'm really enjoying it. From the characters, to the interludes, to the in depth match write ups. It's really friggin' great man. Keep it up!

Thank you.
:)

I'm never really sure what events are your "special" events - the ones where the stakes are just higher, compared to your "normal" shows. Maybe building up the cachet of a couple of events in your yearly schedule (like WWE's "Big Four") might help get across what the biggest shows of the year are?

This is something I struggle with continuously. Army of One are “supposed” to be the house shows, but I have always had it in my mind that I don’t want them to be shows where you know nothing will happen - like belts can change hands on RAW, the same is true for Army of One. Scars and Stripes is the thing I kind of regret with how I have set up QAW. In WWE terms, they are the minor PPVs, except there are twelve of them, and they’re all named the same. I think MrWolf101 suggested renaming them, or giving them undertitles which might be a good idea to make them feel unique. Like WWE, QAW also have four big “PPVs” - New Beginnings (January), Roll the Bones (April), Contenders’ Ball (July) and Queen of the Ring (October).

Prediction Results:

MrWolf101: 4/4 matches, 2 bonus points + 5 survey points = 11 points

Kingjames: 4/4 matches, 2 bonus points + 5 survey points = 11 points

Sincerenoble: 3/4 matches, 3 bonus points + 5 survey points = 11 points

Theheel: 3/4 matches, 2 bonus points + 5 survey points = 10 points

A three-way tie for the win in what was probably one of the easier rounds of predictions lately, at least if you look at the matches. I was kind of surprised that three out of four picked out Higa as winner against Capitano. It’s not every day a midcarder beats a main eventer, but I guess I had been signaling the possibility of an upset here.

Tell you what though. This price, membership on the QAW Hall of Fame committee, I will include Theheel on as well. One, it was close, two, I owe Theheel a prediction award from the month of September, and third, long time readers who keep participating are just the people I want to include on this.

I will send you all some information about what this entails shortly.
:)

The tournament itself stars on Army of One week 3 with the quarter finals. Semi finals take place at Army of One week 4. The tournament take the night off for Scars and Stripes before the tournament final takes place at the Queen of the Ring event itself.

<p>I will take a tie! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Grace Harper, voice of the people. That metal/Christain rock line killed me.</p><p> </p><p>

The promo with Charity and Jillian, classic. I'm guessing that was the movie skit angle? I do love when the real life relationships get brought in to the show.</p><p> </p><p>

Is it weird I'm glad Cherry won clean? It's not that I've stopped rooting for Paige, but as a storyline beat, I like that Paige cost herself a spot in the tournament because of her hate of Cherry (nailed the stipulation, woo-hoo!!! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />).</p><p> </p><p>

I'm thinking that this show represents your new format of reduced word count. If so, I think it works, so hopefully this makes the writing a little more sustainable. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Held at the The Ranch of San Antonio (Mid South)</p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match: Maria Guest vs <strong>Brooke Tyler</strong></p><p>

<em>Curious to see what the match rating for this will be, as I'm thinking it will be high. Honestly, this could be the main event of one of your bigger shows in 3 - 5 years, but Brooke is farther along than Maria at this point.</em></p><p>

Opening Match: <strong>Foxxy LaRue</strong> vs Teresa Perez vs Maribel Mercado vs Purple Viper in a 4-way Ladder Match for a Queen of the Ring ticket</p><p>

<em>So glad to see Teresa is pretty over (honestly, those popularity ratings are really impressive) relative to the rest of the roster, while Foxxy isn't as over as I thought (but I mean, Chitose at 90 without a TV deal? Holy crap!) I could see everyone in this match except Mercado winning, but could you have the tournament without Foxxy?</em></p><p>

Match 2: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Paige Croft vs Claire Winters vs <strong>Talia Quinzel</strong> in a 4-way match for a Queen of the Ring ticket</p><p>

<em>Ah! Very interesting. I feel like this comes down to Talia and Paige, and with Claire in the match, I say that gives Quinzel the advantage. Plus, I like the idea of Paige not being in the tournament after she had her ticket and lost it.</em></p><p>

Match 3: <strong>Capitano</strong> vs Thea Davis for a Queen of the Ring ticket</p><p>

<em>Hehe, why does this feel like a set-up? Could Kass or Cherry cost Cap this match? Sure, but I figure Thea isn't close enough in popularity to make the potential loss by Cap worth it.</em></p><p>

Match 4: Juana Huracán vs <strong>Jillian Jarvis </strong>for a Queen of the Ring ticket</p><p>

<em>A hard hitting affair that will probably hurt just reading it. Jillian's popularity is another one that surprised me as being more than I thought, but it makes sense considering how strong she is booked even when she loses. A tournament with both Charity and Jarvis sets up a nice potential storyline going into their eventual Trios match.</em></p><p>

Main Event: Pamela Rojo © vs <strong>Cherry Bomb</strong> for the Shockwave Title</p><p>

<em>Hmmm, I can't see Cherry winning the belt here (I don't think she needs it. It'd be like AJ Styles winning the Intercontinental title at this point), but I can't see her being willing to take the loss either. I say a DQ finish, with either Capitano or Paige getting involved.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p> </p><p>

Which is the match of the night? <strong>Huracán vs Jarvis</strong>, let's get crazy.</p><p>

Does the Shockwave title change hands? <strong>No</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Tie Breaker: What’s the attendance (last time at the Ranch attendance was 8,358)? Seems like there are some macro headwinds, but I'll say <strong>8,400</strong></p>

Sarah Wilkes is leaning back in her couch, staring at the video that has run to its end on her laptop screen for the third time in a row. Through contacts, she's been able to grab a taped copy of the 5SSW Japan Slam show from Osaka off their J-Network tv show. If there was something Sarah was jealous of 5SSW of, it was the tv deal. That, and their ace, Shiori Jippensha.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<div align=center></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/8FTv0pR.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The show itself was largely dedicated to Huntress Makiko as her farewell show, and the honor to tag team with the 20 year veteran had gone to QAW’s own, Etsuko Arihyoshi. Makiko ended her long run with 5SSW getting the pin on her once loyal partner Unstoppable Tai, who had turned on her in the months leading up to this. Storyline kind of took a backseat as the show was more a celebration of a long career than another beat in a story that in comparison to real life seemed petty and small. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<div align=center></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/p0ej7Mj.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It was not Makiko’s match however that Sarah was replaying over and over. It was the main event. Shiori Jippensha defending her 5Star World title against Megumi Nakajima. Even the third time around, she couldn’t help but gasp and cheer as the match went on, momentum flowing back and forth, incredibly stiff, moves used Sarah would have to admit would never fly in QAW. Not today. But the match Shiori just put on was better than anything seen in QAW, and it was not even Shiori’s best match this year. The A* rated match between the same two wrestlers from the J Grand Prix in July would be a contender for match of the year, no matter the gender of the competitors. The best women's match of all time? Possibly.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sarah picks up her phone, swipes a couple of times, then puts it on speaker. After a couple of signals, someone answers on the other side.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Hey, Fuyuko. What’s up? I want to fly an idea past you. If I said I want to reach out to Shiori, see if we can get her to QAW. You know her. What would you say?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<div align=center></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/CR7KmS0.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“It sounds like something my idiot boss would do.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Soooo, bad idea?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Sure. Let’s go with that. Bad.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Convince me she’s not worth it.” Sarah mutes the sound on the video, and moves back to the moment in the match when Megumi leaps from the top turnbuckle into a sunset flip, only to be caught mid air and reversed seamlessly into a perfectly executed piledriver. It was probably the most beautiful thing Sarah had ever seen.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I didn’t say she’s not worth it. But you have no idea what a toxic locker room is like. You are inviting disaster.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Hold on, our locker room can get pretty feisty at times. At least it used to.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“No, idiot boss, listen to me. You don’t know what you talk about. Our locker room is, how to say it, like a church group. It is the most serene locker room I have ever been part of. I am self-aware enough to realize that I don’t always help, but only because I expect more out of people than they are willing to deliver, and among pros, that pisses me off. But this place is like the Garden of Eden compared to the 5SSW locker room where you don’t even bother to hide the knives, because they are always out, and there is always someone willing to stab you in the back, usually encouraged by Shiori.” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Huh.” Watching a unique sequence of chained moves ending with Shiori taking a bump, generously selling the armdrag from Nakajima, Sarah has almost stopped listening to Fuyuko.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“But you do as you like. I don’t like Shiori, but unlike her, I’m a professional. If that’s what you want to do with your company, don’t let me stand in your way. I’ve warned you, I have now done what I feel is my obligation. Now if you don’t mind, we have a show tomorrow. I’d like to get some sleep.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<div align=center>*****</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/CR7KmS0.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/FadP8Et.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The next day, just as the show is about to start, Sarah hears some commotion outside her office. A furious, screaming and yelling Fuyuko Higa is gently being moved away from the public areas of the venue by Boss Man Brayfield. That she’s yelling in Japanese does not hide what kind of words being hurled.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“What’s going on?” Sarah looks confused. Higa’s locker room problems in the past had been more slow burn things, and usually it was other people ending up pissed at her, not the other way around.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Boss Man makes a grimace. “She was approached at the entrance by a fan who wanted a picture taken with his idol. No big deal. You know Fuyuko doesn’t like these fan interactions much, but it is what it is. She agrees to the photo, and he gets...ah, shall we say a little too intimate.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Higa snorts. “He groped me! I asked what the hell he was doing, he tried to shift blame, and I punched him in the face.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Boss Man interjects. “On the plus side, he went down like a sack of potatoes, so confirmed, Fuyuko’s punches are not a work. On the down side, he was there with his whole family, is royally pissed and was proclaiming on his way to his car that if he didn’t sue us, he’d make the whole world know about the unprovoked attack and how terribly QAW had treated him.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Unprovoked my ass,” Higa fumes. “I only regret I didn’t get a good shot at his nuts as well.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Huh,” Sarah says. “On one hand, high five for standing up against the creep. On the other hand, can you please try avoid creating PR disasters for the company? As much as I’d like to, we can’t use violence against the fans.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While Higa mutters, slowly cooling down, Sarah thinks for a bit. “I think I will have to mete out some kind of punishment for this, or it will seem like we don’t take the incident seriously. I will fine you - the standard amount, you know what it is - and the money will be donated to a charity that support survivors of sexual violence. I hope the message will be clear enough.”</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

According to reliable sources, QAW has released nine year veteran Alexis Lee from her contract with the company. Lee was a member of the QAW roster since the start. She’s a two time Shockwave champion. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

According to sources, a lack of storylines and a crowded roster was the reason for the release. Management are scrutinizing the roster for further cuts, but are having trouble dropping the axe. If they are looking at letting contracts run out, Laura Flame, Claire Winters and Deborah Young are next up as their contracts are expiring in a few months from now.</div>

Capitano steps into Dharma Gregg’s office. Besides Dharma, Hannah Potter is there as well.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You wanted to see me about something?” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma points at a chair, offering Capitano a seat. Capitano looks at the chair, but demonstrably remains standing.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Hrm. Well,” Dharma looks a bit unsettled at the blatant disrespect. “It has been drawn to my attention from the board that certain poster names have not qualified for the Queen of the Ring tournament, and they’re asking me questions why.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hannah Potter scoffs. “That’s sugar coating it. They are wondering why you have taken no steps to prevent the tournament qualifiers from being disrupted. If Capitano isn’t in the tournament, your job could be on the line.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I have done nothing wrong! They will see reason, certainly?” Dharma says, almost pleading to Hannah Potter for sympathy.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Capitano folds her arms in front of her. “I’m sorry, but what’s this got to do with me? If you’re done, can I go now?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“No, this has everything to do with you,” Dharma says wearily. “You will get another shot at a tournament ticket tonight, and the board should see I am giving Capitano a more than fair chance to grab a place in the tournament as you will face, oh, who should be a comfortable win for the great Capitano... how about Thea Davis? Yes, that will do fine,” Dharma says, looking pleased with herself.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Capitano rolls her eyes. “All you do is self-serving. I don’t need nor want you to stack the odds in my favor in order to curry favors with the board room. I’d just like a fair match for once without Kass or Cherry Bomb interfering.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I can help with that,” Hannah Potter interjects. “My security detail will follow their every step tonight. They will not be there to interrupt.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Capitano shrugs. “Just let me wrestle, okay? I don’t want anything to do with your board room politics. Kass might be into it, but I’m not.” She turns around about to leave, but stops in the door. “I know you put me up against Thea because you think she’s a soft opponent, but all it tells me is you either don’t watch her wrestle, or don’t understand what you’re seeing.” Having said her piece, she leaves the room and close the door behind her. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma looks at Hannah with a frown. “What am I missing about Thea?” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hannah looks unwilling to admit she does not understand what Capitano is talking about either. “Maybe she should be given a chance against someone closer to her own level sometime rather than being matched up against all the strongest wrestlers on the roster? Of course she won’t shine against Killer Kass, or against Capitano for that matter.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Huh. Well, so what if I have underestimated her somewhat? She’s a jobber, I’m not here to give her chances, she’s here to make my star attractions look great.” Dharma says, looking satisfied that she’s rationalized her behaviour to herself, and to Potter.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In an exciting, action-packed match, Foxxy LaRue takes a violent bump as she’s tossed by Maribel Mercado from the top turnbuckle, bouncing off the top rope, via the ring apron to the floor. She does not get to reap the fruits of her success as Purple Viper leaps up via the middle rope for an enziguiri that knocks Maribel out, only for Purple Viper to open herself up for Teresa Perez DDT. Suddenly the only one standing, Teresa hurries for the ladder, erects it and starts climbing, only for Purple Viper catch up with her, super plexing her off the ladder. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This time, it’s Purple Viper that starts climbing, gets to the top, only to realize the ladder is too off center to reach the golden ticket, she doesn’t want to give up and keep reaching for it, but it’s not even really close, but when Maribel Mercado gets to her feet and see Purple Viper at the top, she starts toppling the ladder. Purple Viper looks distressed, but notices which way the ladder is falling, and at just the right moment as the ladder is about to topple, she leaps from ladder to the ring the ticket is dangling from. Time seems to move in slow motion as she moves through the air, until she grabs the ring with both hands, and as Maribel screams in frustration, she retrieves the ticket. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Claire and Talia works like the well oiled tag team they are, quickly knocking Paige Croft out of the ring, then double teaming Etsuko Arihyoshi, and even though Boss Man Brayfield looks eager to get involved, there is not much he can do as the Untouchables destroy his client. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Their problem occur once that is done. Talia seem to think Claire should lie down for her, but Claire is clearly not willing to do that. She offers her hand to Talia as though a singles match was about to start, only for Talia to kick her in the guts and hoist her up for the Spinal Trauma. As Talia covers Claire for the pin, Paige Croft slides into the ring out of Talia’s field of vision, as Erin Lawrence counts two and is well on her way to three, Paige give Talia a stiff kick in the back and doesn’t wait before she has Quinzel in the Memphis Deathlock, and when Talia tries to grab Claire for support, Paige rolls them both over 180 degrees away from Claire into something resembling a bridged calf slicer, and while she looks to Claire for help, seeing her tag team partner out cold, Talia taps. Paige let’s go and gives Talia a pat on the shoulder as she gets up to have her hand raised by Erin Lawrence.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With her Shockwave title over her shoulder, Pamela Rojo is walking down a corridor backstage. Turning a corner, she bumps into Cherry Bomb. After a moment of confusion, what was a simple mishap turns into a staring match, and camera cuts back and forth between intense glares, never missing to remind how superficially similar the the two tough, bright red haired wrestlers are. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry is the one to open her mouth first. “How does it feel to be a cheap knock off of the original? Do you experience waves now of shame? Embarrasment? I should have sued for trademark infringement, but honestly, I did not know you existed. Not until you started strutting around with THAT,” she says, poking the Shockwave belt.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Disgraceful is what it is. Someone like you don’t deserve to carry that around. It’s beneath me, but if it’s what I have to do to stop this mockery, I have to. If you have any decency in that body of yours, you face me in the ring for that title and we might restore some of its reputation,” Cherry says, and keeps poking the belt on Rojo’s shoulder.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Pamela has listened to Cherry’s tirade with stoic calm, but you can see anger bubbling under the surface, and when Cherry looks like she’s expecting a response, Pamela toe kicks her and throws her over some packing crates. The two start brawling back and forth, and the segment ends as the fight started with Pamela throwing Cherry into a pile of crates. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You think I disrespect this belt? You want a match? Come at me then. I’ll give you a match.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 3: Capitano vs Thea Davis for a Queen of the Ring ticket</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match starts at a high pace with the two chaining move after move together. While Capitano comes out on top, there are murmurs of approval at how well Davis is keeping up the pace of the main event star. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

At one point, somewhat against the flow of the match, Thea manages to interrupt Capitano’s as she’s charging up for a springboard attack, spearing her off the ring apron and down to the floor. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/JOLH0gD.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Suddenly, everyone’s attention is drawn to a figure jumping the crowd barriers - masked, in bright dreadlocks and an outfit that would look right at home at Burning Man or Mad Max for that matter. The figure, which looks female, grabs a chair on her way and slides into the ring. Thea Davis seems completely unaware of what’s going on, she’s 100 per cent focused on Capitano. Not until the danger is right next to her does she look the way of the mystery assailant, only to get the chair right in the face. As Erin Lawrence has to call the match, the mystery figure overlooks the scene, fixates on Lawrence, and while Alfonso Garcia calls out the DQ verdict, the chair hits Lawrence next, removing any hesitation from the crowd that this is a villain to boo. Having done her deed she rolls out of the ring, jumps over the barrier and disappear through the crowd.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</p></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Capitano has made her way back into the ring, Thea has with great effort gotten back to her feet while Erin is still leaning against the ropes nursing her head. There is a tense feeling in the ring, Capitano looks like she can’t believe she has been robbed yet again, while Thea looks apprehensive, having had her unfortunate encounters with the then Bad Girls Club leader in the past, which usually ended up with Davis beaten up.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Capitano looks to the audience, seemingly looking to take the temperature of the crowd. Finally she steps up to Davis and holds out her hand. Thea looks at it with some suspicion. She too looks to the crowd to guide her action. There is a loud group of Thea fans who are not ready to bury the hatchet, but in the end the most vocal seem to be chanting YES, and Thea follows their advice and accepts the handshake. Capitano give Thea a pat on the shoulder and say something that can’t be heard, and Thea nods with a smile. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In a brutal match the two hard hitting, long time members of the QAW roster went all out to just plain murder each other. Juana did well, keeping pace with Jarvis for most of the match, but toward the end of the match Jarvis sadistic streak shone through as she would interrupt her own pin attempt just so she could deliver another straight jacket electric chair suplex, putting the nail in the coffin with the signature Tornado Elbow Smash. Afterwards, Huracán stays flat in the middle of the ring so long it might as well have been a ten count and she would still have struggled to beat it.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Once again, the record shows that it pays to suck up to management. If you refuse to toe the line you end up on the outside, like me and Claire. Oh, we got a chance to enter the Queen of the Ring tournament, but how? By pitching us against each other? When someone like Capitano gets *three* shots at a ticket to the tournament? Well, if the goal was to keep us out of the tournament, congratulations, you succeeded, again. ‘Best keep Talia out of the Contender’s Cup, best keep her out of the Queen of the Ring tournament. Can’t have filth touch the silverware.’ Well, news for you, QAW brass. We are the tag team champions whether you like it or not. You can’t ignore us any more.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Music hits, and Chitose Ariwara steps out on the ramp. She’s raises a microphone to her mouth, then thinks better of it and walks down the ramp and steps into the ring.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You feel disrespected Talia? Not seen? Feel you’re not getting a fair shot?” Chitose pauses. “I want to change that, if only to stop the whining. You’re champions, and you still feel you’re not getting opportunities? Let me give you one then. Kitsune Warriors want a shot at your tag team titles. Put your belts on the line at Scars and Stripes in two weeks, and I will put my World title on the line in return at Queen of the Ring. A title shot for a title shot. The biggest stage two times over for Talia Quinzel. What do you say?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Talia and Claire give each other a look, then rushes Chitose who seems prepared as she dodges between them, run the ropes, dodges Claire’s big boot on the return but runs straight into Talia’s low drop kick taking out her knee. As Chitose writhes around in pain, Talia picks up a dropped microphone.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Main Event: Pamela Rojo © vs Cherry Bomb for the Shockwave Title</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry looks prepared to feel it out in the beginning, not necessarily rush into anything, but Pamela Rojo quite literally sees red and is all over her opponent as soon as the bell rings. It’s a style where her overwhelming strength gives her an advantage, but Cherry is wily and knows when to block a punch and where to hit to knock the wind out of the sails of her opponent. After the first rope break, Rojo looks just as roughed up as Cherry. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry starts working Pamela’s right arm, and in response Pamela starts doing the same to Cherry, but that does not prevent the one-handed electric chair driver that slams Rojo into the mat. Cherry has to contend with both a larger and stronger opponent, but being tough as nails helps when Pamela overcomes her damaged arm and executes her running powerbomb, the Alerta Roja, but maybe it is a fraction less powerful than it usually is, and Cherry kicks out of the following pin attempt at two.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Soon after, there’s a messy situation by the ropes where referee Dale Kenney takes a slight bump, not knocking him out but enough to make him focus less on the contestants and more on how hurt he is. Cherry takes the opportunity to deal Pamela a stiff low blow, leaving her open to a double underhook piledriver - arguably illegal, certainly against company policy. Cherry does not bother with the pin attempt, going straight for the Cherry Bomb, and then counts along as Dale Kenney counts out Pamela Rojo.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Afterwards, Cherry Bomb is handed the Shockwave title. She gives it a look before turning toward Pamela Rojo who is slowly getting up. “Did I take something valuable from widdle Pam? Wrong! I took something that was a joke. In my hands, it will be a diamond in QAW’s crown. The fact that *I* am holding this and not you makes it worth something. So do us one final service and get the hell out of my ring!” With that she starts stomping Rojo into the mat until Pamela rolls out of the ring.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry climbs up on the bottom rope, holding the Shockwave title over her head. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Take one final look at it, because this is the closest you’ll get to it!” Cherry crows after Pamela who is backing up the ramp, nursing her neck.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After a short break, the eight qualified contestants step out on stage, some putting a safe distance between each other, like Paige Croft and Cherry Bomb - who has just had time to put on a Bad Girls Inc branded tracksuit jacket over her ring gear after her match. Others, like Charity Sweet and Jillian Jarvis seem to be having a casual conversation on their way out on stage. The eight line up at the top of the ramp, from left to right - Paige Croft, Thea Davis, Higa, Charity Sweet, Jillian Jarvis, Purple Viper, Killer Kass and Cherry Bomb. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Along with them comes both Dharma Gregg and Hannah Potter. Dharma gets a microphone.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I’m supposed to say something about how everyone who has qualified for the Queen of the Ring tournament all have an equal chance and yadda yadda, you all know some are better qualified than others. Hannah did not want to seed anyone, but I insisted, and so we agreed on a compromise. Right, Hannah?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“We agreed to each seed one wrestler, two stars that can not meet until the final if they keep advancing. All others are drawn at random,” Hannah nods.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma ”Hannah dear, why don’t you declare your choice?” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hannah shrugs. “Ok, if you like. My choice for top seed is Paige Croft.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Paige’s name light up as one part of match number 4 - the presumed first round main event.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma nods. “Solid choice, certainly a contender. Nothing like my choice however. I pick...wait for it... Thea Davis.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hannah stares at Dharma. “What? Thea Davis? You can’t be ser...I mean, that’s a curious choice I would have to say.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma looks innocently back. “What? Don’t you remember Capitano’s words? Thea obviously have qualities you haven’t seen. Now that I have studied her, I think she is well deserving of being the other top seed in this tournament. It’s too bad Paige and Thea won’t face each other until the final. We can only hope they both go that far so we get to see that anticipated matchup. ”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hannah rolls her eyes. “I stand corrected. Great choice, oh wise GM. No less than one could expect from you.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cherry Bomb has been listening, but can’t hold it in any longer. She steps out of the lineup and up to Dharma Gregg.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Hold on. Are you serious? Is that dweeb for serious going to be seeded in this tournament and I’m not? Paige Croft is seeded, and I’m not? I don’t care for your tactical shenanigans, you are seriously pissing me off right now, and you better have a good reason.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma pales visibly. “Cherry, I promise.. “ She puts down her microphone and leads Cherry off to the side. There is some whispering back and forth, Cherry’s expression goes from fury to restrained distrust. There is more than one long look toward Dharma who emotes “trust me” with her whole body. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Thea’s name light up as one part of match number one.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Alfonso Garcia gets up on stage with a large glass bowl with six balls. “Each ball contain the name of one of the six remaining contestants. Killer Kass high fives Cherry Bomb. Thea looks less happy.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Alfonso goes on. “Next, the second match in that half of the bracket. First…JILLIAN JARVIS!” He grabs a second ball and opens it: “Jillian Jarvis will face… CHARITY SWEET!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Next we move to the other half of the bracket. In match 3….” Alfonso draws a ball and opens it. “HIGA will face…” he rolls the two remaining balls around before selecting one. “PURPLE VIPER.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p>Well, not much of a prediction competition this week as MrWolf101 was the only one posting any predictions. 4 points out of 8 is not bad, considering there were a few real curve balls. Good job picking out Huracán vs Jarvis as match of the night, that was not an obvious pick.</p><p> </p><p> Dark Match: Maria Guest vs <strong>Brooke Tyler</strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="MrWolf101" data-cite="MrWolf101" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42699" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Curious to see what the match rating for this will be, as I'm thinking it will be high. Honestly, this could be the main event of one of your bigger shows in 3 - 5 years, but Brooke is farther along than Maria at this point.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah, Brooke is really getting there, slower than I had expected, but still. Her style is a little old school for QAW, but I figure that is fine for a heel. I’ll try. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Yeah, my top names are pretty over. I imagine YES chants or whatever is appropriate whenever Chitose is on screen. Foxxy has taken a series of pretty unselfish losses in recent weeks, and her popularity has dropped as a result. Really shocked that Cherry won the Shockwave title, but in a good way. It definitely makes the title more prominent overnight, plus it lets you keep her away from Chitose if you want.

I do like that you keep the number of the people in the tournament limited as I feel it helps make just being in the tournament feel like a big deal.

That mystery wrestler render is great, but I honestly have no idea who it could be. I would think all the European wrestlers won't work in the US, and the list of possible US workers is just so long.

I'm happy to see Thea getting a push. She is definitely talented, and is more than capable of working a quicker pace and stealing the show.

I'll have to plead complete brain meltdown on Paige having a spot in the tournament before. I'm guessing I got the 4-way match that Kass won and the won that Paige won for the 'any match you want' stipulation mixed up in my mind.

Dark Match: Capitano vs Laura Flame vs Claire Winters vs Deborah Young

I feel like Capitano needs a win badly as her momentum has to have taken a serious hit too over the past couple of shows.

Opening Match: Etsuko Arihyoshi & Maria Guest vs Anderson & Snyder

Now this is interesting. Anderson & Snyder or the new tag team. Hard, but I'll say the push for Maria has started.

Match 2: Thea Davis vs Killer Kass Queen of the Ring Quarter Final 1

Ah, I mean, really? Poor Thea. :) I'm thinking maybe a rage DQ for Kass, but other than that, I can't see her losing this.

Match 3: Charity Sweet vs Jillian Jarvis QotR Quarter Final 2

Jillian is on a roll, but I like the upset potential here. Still, this would line up Jarvis vs Paige or Cherry, which would be awesome.

Match 4: Higa vs Purple Viper QotR Quarter Final 3

Hmm, could really go either way, but out of the four matches, this is the one I'm least interested in, though I can't really put my finger on why as I enjoy both characters. Higa vs Kass feels like something Semi-Final worthy, though I'm probably selling Viper short.

Main Event: Paige Croft vs Cherry Bomb QotR Quarter Final 4

Ah, this is great. Your version of Paige is so great, I just can't root against her here. Probably going with my heart, but I like the idea of Paige going to the final to face Kass.

Bonus Questions:

Which is Match of the Night? Got to be Paige vs Cherry, right?

An impromptu “street fight” breaks out. Between who? I do like Foxxy as a brawler, but trying to think who she would be paired up with in that case. I'll just go for an advance of the storyline with Chitose vs Talia.

EXTRA: Who wins the Queen of the Ring tournament? (2 bonus points scored with the conclusion of Queen of the Ring) Ah, I feel like a Kass vs Chitose program would do big business, so I'll say Killer Kass

EXTRA 2: Who is the mystery attacker who disrupted Capitano and Thea Davis' match? (It won't be revealed next week, I'll add 2 points to the score the week the attacker is demasked, whenever that happens)

Absolutely no idea, but I'll go Karen Bilious, having been out of work so long that she added the US to her work area.

Tie Breaker: What’s the attendance? (Hint: It’s a new record - the old one was 8,585) Ah, let's say just barely a record, 8,625.

Wow I just didn't lose an hour last weekend I lost a whole week it looks like. I really feel asleep at the switch. I will have to do a quick catch-up tonight. Spending too much time at work it looks like

Edit - ok I too am shocked that Cherry won the Shockwave title and Cap took another loss. Glad Thea is getting some push but will be interested in that match with Kass. Love the tourney brackets, your not fooling around and getting into serious business in the 1st round

<p>Just a quick note, and this might come a bit sudden, but the diary will be taking a hiatus. It could turn out to be longer, but to begin with, I need three-four weeks to get some personal stuff in order. </p><p> </p><p>

In the meantime I'm going to think about where the diary fits into my life, and if I'm getting as much out of it as I'm putting into it. Or if there is some way I can change things so I do. At times it is really fun and rewarding, but a lot of time it just takes a lot of time to churn out words. I'm a slow writer, and trying to find just the right words to make you understand what I want to convey, all in my second language makes it take twice as long. </p><p> </p><p>

The primary reason I had for starting the diary was to make my game more coherent - explaining in words what the angles and matches meant helps make the game itself feel more meaningful. </p><p> </p><p>

I'm thinking that what I should do for my own sake might be to boil down the reports to short factual reports of what each match and angle <em>meant</em> rather than try to do play by plays. I don't know. I would be understanding if that killed some interest to read the diary, but then again, I could be wrong.</p>

I can empathise with every word you've written. Not so long ago I told you that I was in a similar position with my own diary (and am still considering a hiatus after my next show). It can be extremely difficult sometimes to keep motivated. A dynasty, particularly one as detailed and intricate as yours, is a labour of love. Sometimes love is the key word and sometimes labour is. If you need to recharge your batteries then that is absolutely the best thing you can do! Either way, good luck with everything my friend!

<p>Hey you have my support as I understand the undertaking it is to do a diary and keep it fresh and current. It is one of the reasons at present I have posted one. I have completed enjoyed your work and hope that you return at some but only if it works for you. I will keep the diary tagged in my list with hopes that some format down the road it returns</p><p> </p><p>

Good luck</p>

Writing something like this is a big time commitment, but real life comes first. The effort to entertain is always appreciated, and know that we'll be here eagerly anticipating the next chapter of QAW whatever form it takes and whenever it arrives. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>CornellVerse doesn't get the love it deserves in Dynasties and QAW is one of my favorite companies, so much as I liked reading this, I'm sad to read about the hiatus. Take all the breaks you need, real life comes first.</p><p> </p><p> I've only written one proper Dynasty I can sympathize with your words. It does make the game more meaningful, but it can be tough (I had extra problems with using photobucket and the forum code to post images). For whatever its worth, I'm keeping a short log of my Road to Glory game elsewhere, writing short narratives from the booker's perspective. Here's a little something to give you an idea while you consider "shorter reports"</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42699" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><em>After a run as the heroic Warrior Princess, Geena cut a fiery D- (40/100) promo in which she reverted to her old heelish ways, only this time she'd be a vicious extremist, putting her body on the line with no regard for her well being if that meant she'd get the victory. It really freshened up her character by adding a nice beserker edge to it. To top it all, she wrestled Wael Hossam in a great D+ (53/100) match that was made even better by the chemistry these two apparently have inside the ring. Geena sold Wael's holds with frenzied screams and he returned the favor by catching her when she tried a few new high risk moves.</em></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> So in a single paragraph, it includes an angle where a wrestler turned heel and switched to a new gimmick, the concept of their promo, the match, discovering chemistry, the result and grades. Hope it makes your life easier as you think of new ways to keep this going without it being so taxing for you.</p>

It’s barely even a story, just the arc of someone setting out to prove that she’s been held back by the rigid enforcement of seniority. We’ll see if it ever comes to a resolution, but somehow people are hanging on to every word Talia says, wondering where her story will go.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Farrah looks at him. “....and?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> He cocks his head. “And what? The point being, different stories appeal to different fans. We can’t always predict what’s going to become popular. A shotgun approach is not a bad idea. Try stuff. See what sticks. It’s no big deal if you don’t know where a story is going right away. That’s the beauty of wrestling. Sometimes we’ll just have to see where the fan reaction takes us.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Farrah goes over to her computer, clicks through a couple of folders and opens a spreadsheet.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “I’ll give you the best kind of feedback. <b>Opening Match: Etsuko Arihyoshi & Maria Guest /w Boss Man Brayfield vs Anderson & Snyder</b></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The match ebbs and flows, both sides seeing big shifts of momentum. It’s during one of Etsuko and Maria’s strong segments that Maria has a full nelson applied to Ava Anderson. Maria’s Dragon suplex is feared, and Ava is on the ropes. If Maria can execute the suplex, Ava might be done for. Desperately, Ava has grabbed the ropes with both hands, holding on for her life. Just as referee Erin Lawrence is momentarily distracted by a rules argument with Etsuko, Boss Man cracks his cane over Ava’s knuckles. With a scream of pain Ava lets go of the rope, Maria executes a picture perfect suplex into a bridging pin for the 1-2-3. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<b>Match 2: Thea Davis vs Killer Kass Queen of the Ring Quarter Final 1</b></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The fans are split between the “Kass is gonna kill you” chant and more supportive shouts of encouragement. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In a relatively short match, Thea puts on a better performance than many would have expected, keeping Kass off balance for two three minutes with high speed offense, but it comes to a sudden halt as Kass choke slams her into the ground, then spends the remainder of the match throwing Thea around until Kass grows bored and pins the British babyface.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Match is over, Kass stands over Thea with a look of disgust on her face. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You don’t belong here,” she snarls as she starts beating up Thea to loud booing from the crowd.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

She slams Thea into the mat with a Kill Switch and is about to hit her with another when music hits and Capitano comes sprinting down toward the ring. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<img src="</div><a href="http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg" rel="external nofollow"></a><div style="margin-left:25px;"><a href="http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg" rel="external nofollow">http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg"</a></div><a href="http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg" rel="external nofollow"></a><div style="margin-left:25px;"> alt="Capitano" /> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As she slides into the ring, Kass turn her attention to Capitano, allowing Thea to painstakingly roll out of the ring. The two former team mates go straight at it, going toe to toe, with Capitano keeping up surprisingly well against the much larger opponent, even keeping Kass on the back heel. With focus on Kass, she does not notice what others see - a familiar shape appearing out of the crowds behind Capitano’s back. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

She slides silently into the ring, sneaks up behind Capitano, and in one smooth motion applies a sleeper hold. As Capitano fades, Kass starts using her as a punching bag. After a final Kill Switch, Capitano is left laid out in the ring.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<b>Match 3: Charity Sweet vs Jillian Jarvis QotR Quarter Final 2</b></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After a lot of showmanship and teasing of a fall match, Charity practically apologizes to her leader, but she’s going to go all out. With familiarity of each other’s wrestling style the two put on the match of the night, Charity’s high flying met by Jillian’s gnarly hard hitting. After numerous two-counts, the match comes to its climax just like that - Jarvis dodging Charity’s top rope attack, Charity elegantly rolling over her shoulder to standing, but when she turns around for a super kick she steps right into Jarvis devastating Tornado Elbow Smash and it is over. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After the match the two spends some time just looking at each other, tension high, Jarvis glaring intensely, Charity looking back defiantly, until Jarvis gives up a laugh, helps Charity to her feet and holds her understudy’s hand up high in respect. They proceed to celebrate together, and even though they’re two heels get the appreciation from the crowd the match deserved.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After an early ref bump, almost the entire match is fought outside the ring. Backstage, we see Chitose Ariwara and Etsuko Arihyoshi chatting, mentioning that their tag team title match has been scheduled already for Army of One next week, then saying their goodbyes as Etsuko is on her way somewhere. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Suddenly Chitose is all alone and the camera pulls back and we see Talia Quinzel who undetected has been watching. She shrug her shoulders, seemingly coming to a sudden decision, then jumps Chitose from behind, throwing her into a pile of chairs, then doesn’t wait for Chitose to recover as she grabs her by her hair and slams her into a big packing crate.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As she slowly gets up, Chitose looks back at her attacker. “Is this how you plan to secure your victory next week? What’s the honor in putting an opponent out of commission before the match has even started?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Talia responds by kicking Chitose in the gut, then power bombs her through a table.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

She answers while never pausing the beatdown. “Honor? Pfah. This is the difference between you and me. You have never had to fight for the food on your table. You come from a world of privilege where you can afford to waste your time thinking about things like face, honor and image. I live in the real world. Where you are stupid if you give your enemy an advantage that you could have had.” She emphasize her words by holding Chitose’s arm against the edge of the broken table and knee drops it, to a scream of agony from Chitose.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As she moves on to continue the beating, Chitose manage to get an elbow in, create some space and the beatdown start turning into a two sided brawl. They fight their way up a stairway to the upper deck of the arena, Talia throws Chitose through a pair of double doors, and suddenly spotlights in the arena lock on them as the fight has spilled out onto a closed of section of the balconies above ringside. At more than one point the fighting gets dangerously close to the railing, Talia has at one point Chitose in a fireman’s carry and seems to consider if she should throw her over the edge the twenty feet or so down to the crowd, but Chitose slips out of the hold and they keep brawling until the arena security detail shows up, and with great difficulty separates the two.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<b>Main Event: Paige Croft vs Cherry Bomb QotR Quarter Final 4</b></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It’s a quarter final, but the buzz in the arena speaks of a BIG match. There is something different about Paige Croft’s demeanor as the two steps into the ring. If she in their past matches was rattled to show fear of her intimidating nemesis, there is a calm now over the former champion as she lock eyes with Cherry Bomb.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As the match progress, Cherry Bomb take the simple approach that worked so well in their past matches - beat her opponent to a pulp until they won’t even defend themselves when she hits the big finisher. Paige on her part trusts her methodical style, specifically going for her opponent’s ability to hit the Cherry Bomb. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As the match flows back and forth, Paige looks more and more battered, but Cherry looks more and more frustrated as she start sensing that she’s been tricked a match scenario that her opponent intended all along. In a last ditch effort she goes for the big Cherry Bomb, but her back that Paige had been working all the time gives out and she drops her opponent and momentarily collapses to her knees, all Paige needed to lock in the Memphis Deathlock. When Cherry tries to go for the ropes, Paige finds an improvised, enhanced bridged transition of the submission hold, putting as much pressure on Cherry’s back as on her legs, and in desperation she taps out.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Match Rating: B (79)</b></p></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As Paige celebrates, Cherry looks more and more furious. As soon as Paige has had her hand raised by the referee, Cherry drop kicks her knee, which buckle under her. As Paige writhes in pain, Cherry looms over her with a smirk.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Good luck in the semi final,” she snarls, stomping down on the same knee one more time for emphasis. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p>You know, just yesterday, I thought to myself that I should get some predictions in for this show. Looks like you beat me to it! Serves me right for putting off for tomorrow what I could do today.</p><p> </p><p>

That brawl between Chitose and Talia was apparently some serious hot fire, because you hit the vaunted 100 grade on that segment! Nicely done. It got me thinking about some of the Attitude Era brawls, particularly the ones with Stone Cold, where the workers went all over the place for ten, fifteen minutes. People were super hot for those, even though in some ways, they were super terrible from an in-person visual perspective. Particularly for those who couldn't see the 'Tron, it could mean you couldn't see a dang thing. Oh, the excesses of the Attitude Era...</p><p> </p><p>

Is the teaming of Arihyoshi and Guest new? Or did I miss something while I was away? That's a pairing that I'm interested in seeing where they go.</p><p> </p><p>

Kass is picking up that Samoa Joe vibe. That's a good thing, because Kass is most certainly the Destroyer.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm intrigued to know the identity of the "Spectre". Whoever she is, she looks like a visual mash-up of Becky Lynch and Finn Balor. Though she's <em>probably</em> not Irish. I don't know if there are any female Irish wrestlers. I know SNP has an Irish valet, but that's as far as I know at this point. Anyway, it'll be good to learn more about what her motives are, exactly.</p>
