</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy Barton:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Today’s show is visited by someone who has become something of a QAW fan favorite. She is a former tag team champion with her partner Christy Higgins, forming the formidable tag team, the Bubblegum Brawlers. Welcome, Teresa Perez.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa Perez:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Haha, thank you Billy. It’s my pleasure.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> We initially scheduled this interview for two weeks ago, but due to a scheduling conflict, it’s happening now instead. I can’t help but feel it would have been quite a different interview then.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa: </strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Yeah, thank whatever higher power you believe in for that. I don’t think I would have been very approachable then. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> But I gather things are better these days?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/JDg7ZNg.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Oh yeah. The clouds have dispersed, all sunshine now. It was terrible seeing the crisis Christy was going through and realize I couldn’t get through to her, that I could never sort things out for her. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I would argue that you were there for her. I’m not sure I have many friends who would take a chair to the head for me. I’m sure Phil Vibert wouldn’t.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Hah, well… It’s not like I said “ok, Christy, go ahead, here’s my temple, hit me if it helps you clear your thoughts”. I had my own crisis there in the ring and came to my own conclusions, and Christy came to hers, unfortunately a little later. It hurt like a b….I’ll tell you.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You had no desire to get one back?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Nah, it’s like I told her in the ring. She’s my best friend, and there comes a point where you’re willing to lose an argument rather than lose your friend. I’ve joked that I’ll steal her boyfriend, but honestly, he’s not really my type.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> This is the first I’ve heard of Christy having a boyfriend. I’m sure that’s going to disappoint a lot of our fans.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Oh, you didn’t know? Oh, can I tell who it is? I bet Christy will be mad, but she can take this one.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I think I would have to apply non-conventional interrogation techniques if you didn’t. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/WSqBaZQ.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> She’s dating...wait for it… our announcer, Alfonso Garcia!</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> ...no way. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa: </strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Way.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The world is not fair, but I guess I knew that already. I hope you don’t get in trouble now.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> *laughs* Oh, she’ll be mad, but what’s the worst she could do? </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/2sYuUTT.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/SrJMR1G.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Well, I'd say she could hit you in the head with a chair again, but that does not seem to faze you. Now the Bubblegum Brawlers are back together, and I can tell you, fans are happy about that. You got a golden ticket of sorts from Dharma Gregg, giving you a title shot against Dogs of War, and you were so close to become the new champions. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Alright, let me get up on my soapbox for a bit. When we were champions, we took pride in doing it the right way. I don’t claim to be an angel, at a certain point you will prove if you deserve to be treated with respect or not, but when you carry those belts, you want to show your fans you are worthy of them, right? What’s the point otherwise? As a champion if you have to resort to cheating you are just a fraud, which says a lot about the Dogs of War. No matter how intimidating they are, if you can't keep hold of your titles without cheating, you have no legitimacy. I’m thrilled and a bit surprised we got another shot at Scars and Stripes. With Dharma Gregg we haven’t grown used to fair rulings. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Let’s do some of the form questions. If you think back, what do you think is the best match of your career?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/oz8ZpSz.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/eV5dEGc.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Bubblegum Brawlers against the team of Purple Viper and Melody got to be one of the best matches QAW have seen. I don’t mind bragging about that. It’s a match I’m very proud of.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Even though you lost?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa: </strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">I could point out how they cheated, but that’s not the point. We went all out, we created a match fans of QAW still talk about. As far as I’m concerned, we created a moment of art there in the ring. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> And as a singles competitor? </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/LqQJWHu.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Well, there’s a fourway match that was rated highly but honestly, I think that was more thanks to Paige Croft and Foxxy LaRue than me. Other than that, the match against Talia Quinzel at the Scars and Stripes the day before Contender’s Ball just a month ago was good. Honestly, I think I’m in my best form of my career, so I kind of go into every match with the intent to put on the best match of my career right now.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> What about favorite workers to wrestle against? </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/9pIGoQA.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa: </strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Is it bad if I say Christy? It’s not so fun when she’s angry, but we know each other so well, it usually ends up in good matches. I will also have to mention my Mexican sister Pamela Rojo, and Melody as well, even though she’s not with QAW any longer. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> How about dream matches? </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/xYuulxj.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa: </strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Well, I have wrestled most members of the QAW roster, but I have a list of people I would like to get one back on. Capitano, Talia Quinzel and Paige Croft comes to mind. There are some of my friends it would be fun to wrestle sometime, we rarely get an opportunity to face each other - Higa would be fun to face off against some time. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You and Higa were, or are part of the faction called American Sweethearts, but you seem to have a slightly different idea of what direction the group should go in than the other members. Can you tell us what that’s all about?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> It’s difficult to talk about without being misunderstood, or taken out of context. In short, I think they are failing to see who the enemy is. We can’t just look at Bad Girls Club or Ronin 3 and think that as long as they are contained everything’s dandy. As I see it, the bad guys are all the way up in the QAW board room, and Dharma Gregg is their puppet on a string. But I don’t want to be known for being the one that destroyed American Sweethearts from within. If we disagree on what the club should be about, it might be I’m the odd woman out. They are not the villains, but they might not be the Justice League I was hoping for when I joined.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Batman is in the Justice League. If that analogy does not work for you who are you then?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Maybe I’m more Rorschach, or the Punisher, *laughs*</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Well, that took a turn into nerddom. You’re into superheroes and comics and such then?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Sure, but who isn’t, more or less? And what are wrestlers anyway but playing superheroes and villains? We dress up in colorful outfits and battle the bad guys.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Less collateral damage when you keep it in the ring, so bonus points to wrestling there, I suppose. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Hah, yeah. Though I won’t make any promises. If I get an opportunity for a sweet topé suicida, you can bet your ass I won’t stay in the ring.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I think we can only expect Teresa Perez to do the unexpected. Thank you for taking your time to be on the podcast, it has been great having you.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Teresa: </strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Sure, let’s do it again when I’ve got some gold to brag about. Shout out to all fans out there, your support means the world when I sometimes feel I’m fighting the whole world on my own. You rock!</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<hr size=3; color=:#0020C2></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>OOC: Thanks to DarEatWorld who requested the interview with Teresa Perez as prize for the prediction contest for Army of One week 2 of August. Slowly catching up...</em></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div>

In September, QAW will visit (at least) one region they have never held shows in before. Which? (So far all shows have been in Mid-South, South-East or Mid-West) <strong>Southwest makes sense to me</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Name a wrestler who will make an alignment turn, either face- or heel. <strong>i was going to pick Thea Davis but I think I am going in a totally different direction because Thea isn't on the main card. The simple choice I guess is Roio, but she has been basically a tweeter so that doesn't excite me. I think we will see Theresa Perez go Terry Funk on Higgins after they lose the tag title match. Screaming that she hit her with a chair, do you remember that Christy when you hit me with the chair!</strong>. <strong>So my pick is Theresa Perez to turn heel</strong></p><p> </p><p>

At Scars and Stripes September, a month from now, who will be the contestants for the World Title? <strong>Cherry Bomb and Paige Croft</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<p>I'm thinking when Dharma Gregg starts talking about "opportunities", she tends to mean it like Dario Cueto. As in, somebody gonna get they butt whipped.</p><p> </p><p>

The storytelling is starting to leave behind a strict kayfabe and dabble into magical realism and other genres. I think that's a great direction for QAW, whose product settings - in my opinion - map fairly well to Lucha Underground's.</p><p> </p><p>

Prediction Time!</p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match 1: Ava Anderson vs <strong>Laura Flame</strong> vs Lily Snyder vs Selina Svelte</p><p>

<em>Flame's got some serious performance skills and she's pretty good on pop, so I'm going to her to take the victory.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match 2: <strong>Etsuko Arihyoshi</strong> vs Maria Guest vs Claire Winters vs Joella Parent</p><p>

<em>Joella's eating the pinfall, isn't she? Oh, poor girl. She's a loveable jobber, and hopefully she might have a place as a comedy wrestler, if nothing else.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match 3: Foxxy LaRue, Juana Huracán & Thea Davis vs <strong>Jillian Jarvis, Brooke Tyler & Darkness Cat</strong></p><p>

<em>Basically thinking Brooke Tyler's being built up at the moment, so she gets the win.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Opening Match: Alexis Lee vs <strong>Maribel Mercado</strong></p><p>

<em>Unless Alexis' already sour backstage personality will be inflamed by a loss, of course.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Match 2: <strong>Pamela Rojo</strong> vs Purple Viper © for the Shockwave Title</p><p>

<em>Rojo just seems to have more going on storyline-wise. I think Viper retains by cheating, and we get at least a short program with these two.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Match 3: <strong>Birds of Prey</strong> vs Special Edition</p><p>

<em>You're building them up, and I think this pushes their story forward.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Match 4: <strong>Cherry Bomb</strong> vs Talia Quinzel</p><p>

<em>Cherry is still making her impact felt as a main event player. A good match that sees Bomb win, maybe via DQ if certain parties decide to get involved. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Match 5: Bubblegum Brawlers vs <strong>The Dogs of War</strong> © for the Tag Team Titles</p><p>

<em>Beating them once? Fluke. They don't lose twice in a row...no matter how they have to do it.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Main Event: Chitose Ariwara vs <strong>Paige Croft</strong> © for the World Title</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

- Which is Match of the Night? <strong>Brawlers vs. Dogs ought to be a real good one!</strong></p><p>

- How many title changes happens at Scars and Stripes? <strong>Zero, I think!</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus bonus question:</p><p>

- For a free point, I want some speculation for the next month.</p><p>

•In September, QAW will visit (at least) one region they have never held shows in before. Which? (So far all shows have been in Mid-South, South-East or Mid-West) <em>Well, you could decide to wade into the Southwest market. But if you want the easier time, without any regional battles, the </em><em><strong>Great Lakes</strong></em><em> should have been getting some spillover to prepare your entry into that market.</em></p><p> </p><p>

•Name a wrestler who will make an alignment turn, either face- or heel.</p><p>

<em><strong>Higgins</strong></em><em> has been set up all too well to make a turn in the interview materials. So I'm probably going to get swerved.</em></p><p> </p><p>

•At Scars and Stripes September, a month from now, who will be the contestants for the World Title? <em>I'm thinking it's </em><em><strong>Perez vs. Croft</strong></em><em>, with Croft still champion.</em></p>

<strong>Dark Match 1: Ava Anderson vs Laura Flame vs Lily Snyder vs Selina Svelte</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>In a match that could probably only happen in the pre-show, the all-heel lineup did their best to work the crowd. While Laura Flame was a standout, when it came down to decide the match, the long time tag team of Ava and Lily two-on-oned Laura, giving Lily Snyder the pinfall victory.</p><p>

Lily Snyder wins by pinfall in 12:02</p><p>

<strong>Dark Match 2: Maria Guest vs Claire Winters vs Etsuko Arihyoshi /w Boss Man Brayfield vs Joella Parent</strong></p><p>

Etsuko and her new manager doesn’t seem to be on the same foot here as Etsuko is able to hold off Claire Winters, but she’s upset enough by Boss Man’s attempt to interfere that it takes her out of the moment and fails to react when Maria Guest pins Joella Parent for the win.</p><p>

<strong>Maria Guest wins by pinfall in 12:13</strong></p><p><strong>

<strong>Dark Match 3: Foxxy LaRue, Juana Huracán & Thea Davis vs Jillian Jarvis, Brooke Tyler & Darkness Cat 6-man tag match under lucha rules</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>Juana and Brooke fights on the outside for pretty much the whole match while the other four go back and forth, tagging in and out, creating a free flowing, fun match where Foxxy and Thea eventually get the opportunity to double team Jillian Jarvis, leaving Foxxy alone in the ring with Darkness Cat, who she’s able to take down in short order.</p><p>

<strong>Foxxy LaRue wins by pinfall in 15:06</strong></p><p><strong>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg</span> </p><p>

The main show opens with a video playing on the big screen. It shows Chitose Ariwara at home in Japan. She’s in civilian clothes, and she’s ascending a long set of stairs leading up to a shrine. On top of a stone pillar a small statue of a fox sits, and she pauses by it briefly as if to pay it respect.</p><p> </p><p>

Cut to another scene, still looking to be in the temple, but now indoors, where Chitose is dressed by an elderly woman in a traditional a shrine maiden, or miko’s outfit. Long red pleated skirt, a white kimono jacket and a white ribbon holding up her hair in a pony tail. In the next scene, she is performing a purifying ritual in a shrine room with another larger fox statue.</p><p> </p><p>

As the video ends, Chitose Ariwara is in the ring with a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

“Tradition and progression. When we travel, we learn to value them both. And it’s been quite a journey we’ve set out on together, you and I,” she says, speaking to the audience. From the first word, she has them in her palm.</p><p> </p><p>

“They always said, ‘there’s only so far Chitose can go’, but you believed in me, you saw the path was the right one, and the Contender’s Crown was proof of that. There are no limits to our journey. Wouldn’t that be sad? Setting out on a journey of exploration, and finding yourself at the end of the road?”</p><p> </p><p>

“But that’s not where we are. We aren’t wandering aimlessly. We have deliberately climbed the highest mountain toward the greatest prize and we have just one hurdle left. I won’t pretend it will be easy. Paige Croft is probably the most dominant champion QAW has ever seen. It would be pretentious and over confident to say I will definitely beat someone so strong. But Chitose you might say, ‘you beat Paige in the Contender Series’. It is true, and yet it isn’t. Her body failed her after a grueling tournament schedule. I had no part in that. A rested Paige Croft is a fearsome opponent.”</p><p> </p><p>

Murmurs from the crowd as the rather pessimistic message is delivered.</p><p>

“And yet here I am, believing. Why? Because in you, I have the best travel companions. Paige can’t win without breaking my spirit, and with your support, how could I ever give up!? Let’s show Paige what it’s like fighting against the spirit of QAW!”</p><p>

<strong>Match 1: Alexis Lee vs Maribel Mercado under lucha rules </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>It’s debatable how big advantage she has, but Maribel sure acts as though wrestling under lucha rules gives her the home field advantage and she takes the early lead with a sudden rollup and a firm grip on Alexis’ tights. </p><p> </p><p>

Otherwise quite equally matched, the unfair pinfall seem to act as fuel for Alexis, and for the next few minutes, she’s on fire, never allowing Maribel a sniff of the initiative until Alexis ties it up after a running double knee to Maribel in the corner and a quick roll up. For the decider they go back and forth, Alexis preferring to keep the wrestling on the ground, while Maribel is eager to go for the top turnbuckle. At one point, Alexis threatens a super plex but is instead thrown to the mat, leaving her open to Maribel’s High Altitude Leg drop, followed by the pin for the 1-2-3, and Maribel wins two falls to one.</p><p>

<strong>Maribel Mercado wins by 2 falls to 1 in 13:43</strong></p><p><strong>

At the interview station, Farrah Hesketh is standing with Talia Quinzel. Farrah’s about to say something, when Talia rips the microphone out of her hand, turning to face the camera.</p><p> </p><p>

“Cherry Bomb comes here and think she’s all that because she’s won a couple of soft matchups, and now she think she can rack up another one against the Mistress of the Backbreaker? Think again, granny! The new generation is here, and we don’t need you anymore. If you don’t feel it is time to retire yet, I will make you reconsider after tonight.”</p><p>

With that, she shoves the microphone back to Farrah and storms off.</p><p>

In gorilla position, Pamela Rojo is waiting to make her entrance, when Purple Viper comes up from behind.</p><p> </p><p>

“Did you seriously go to the clan leader for a rematch? Is that how you do things, be the snitch, go to mommy and ask her to fix things?” Purple Viper says, condescension in her voice.</p><p> </p><p>

Despite looking offended at the suggestion, Pamela does her best to maintain her composure.</p><p> </p><p>

“You have never shown respect for any warrior’s code. That you of all people would tell me to do things the right way is laughable. You don’t even know what that is.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Pfah. Warriors. There is honor among thieves. Rule one: Don’t be a rat.” Purple Viper spits at Pamela’s feet. When Pamela instinctively looks down, Purple Viper slugs her, and a full brawl breaks out, spilling out onto the ramp. Purple Viper keep beating down on Pamela as they slowly make their way toward the ring. </p><p>

<strong>Match 2: Pamela Rojo vs Purple Viper © for the Shockwave Title, under lucha rules</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>The match starts almost immediately after Purple Viper has pushed Pamela into the ring, and initially it looks as though it’s going to be a short match as Pamela is worn out and Purple Viper is in total control, delivering a series of suplexes and a painful backbreaker that looked like it would be enough to put Rojo away, but she kicks out at the last moment. </p><p> </p><p>

Purple Viper goes for the big move to put Rojo away, but when she goes for the top rope crossbody, Pamela catches her out of the air, adjusts her hold in the air before power bombing Purple Viper into the mat. From here on out, Pamela controls the match, except a brief moment when Purple Viper attacks her with her black asian mist. Blinded, Pamela looks vulnerable, Purple Viper starts wearing her down, but a big spear in the middle of the ring knocks the air out of Viper, and Pamela gets the first fall. </p><p> </p><p>

Restarting the match, Purple Viper is eager to get one back, tries to shift the momentum by taking to the air with flashy maneuvers, including a spectacular springboard hurricanrana straight into the pinfall attempt, but instead of tying it up, when Pamela kicks out she does so straight into a Texas cloverleaf. Purple Viper struggles to get to the ropes, but Pamela is strong and anytime Purple Viper threatens to reach the ropes, Pamela drags her back into the middle of the ring. Purple Viper tries to wriggle her way out of the grip, but every attempt is met by more pressure on her legs, and eventually she has nothing left to do but to give up. Pamela Rojo is the new Shockwave champion. </p><p>

<strong>Match 3: Birds of Prey (Higa & Onishii) vs Special Edition (Young & Sweet)</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>While Onishii and Young by no means embarrass themselves, Higa and Charity Sweet seem determined to make a midcard, no-title match the one everyone remembers as they put on a show to remember full of flashy moves transitioning into each other in innovative unexpected ways. Higa takes the bump of the night when she climbs the top turnbuckle and gives Deborah Young a flying DDT to the outside, sending her crashing into the arena floor. A little later they’re back in the ring, and Birds of Prey delivers their trademark finisher, Death from Above (a running low drop kick to the knee, followed by Onishii’s flying leg drop from the top turnbuckle), and Higa covers Deborah for the pin.</p><p>

<strong>Match 4: Cherry Bomb vs Talia Quinzel /w Claire Winters </strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>Cherry does her best to hide her annoyance at Claire’s presence ring side, but it’s clear she’s bothered, even if it’s beneath her to actually complain. </p><p>

As the match starts out, it’s clear that these two won’t back down for anything. Going toe to toe, they are relentless, releasing a torrent of punches on each other. For a long time, it looks as though they’ll stand there forever, but Cherry’s last punch is dodged, and Talia give her a lariat that slams her to the mat. </p><p> </p><p>

A little later, Talia goes for the top turnbuckle, unusual for her, but with a tougher opponent than she has faced in a while, she might think something out of the ordinary is required. Cherry senses the danger though and climbs after her, and another long exchange of punches and elbows take place there, perched atop the turnbuckle. Here, Talia takes the without doubt most dangerous spot of the match as Cherry with sly experience knocks her off balance, and with the next backhand, Talia tumbles off the turnbuckle, bounces off the ring apron and to the floor below.</p><p> </p><p>

When Cherry climbs down to continue her attack on Talia, Claire notices that Talia has found something under the ring apron and jumps up on the ring apron, providing a distraction. When Cherry puts her hands on Talia, she gets a whack in the side with a kendo stick, and then another for good measure. </p><p> </p><p>

With both competitors now on the ground, the referee starts to count them out. Talia gets to her feet first and deliver a kick to Cherry’s head before rolling into the ring. Cherry struggles to her knees, crawls toward the ring. Claire look eager to stop her somehow but referee Erin Lawrence warn her not to interfere. On nine, Cherry crawls into the ring. </p><p> </p><p>

The sequence that decides the match happens shortly after. The kendo stick has ended up in the ring as Claire tried to provide Talia with a weapon. Talia and Cherry are grappling by the ropes, and seeing that the referee has her attention on the kendo stick, Claire jumps up on the ring apron, charge along the ropes and delivers a big boot - to Talia, as Cherry Bomb slips out of Talia’s grip. Cherry picks up Talia and delivers a patented Cherry Bomb for the 1-2-3.</p><p>

Capitano and Killer Kass come out to their trademark Motörhead soundtrack, giving each other the Bad Girls Club greeting. With no Laura Flame in tow, Killer Kass is carrying the Bad Girls Banner over her shoulder to the ring. On their way to the ring, a lot of fans want the Bad Girls greeting, and Capitano seems to evaluate each and every one if they’re worthy of one or not. Some get one, some get snubbed, after criterias clear only to Capitano.</p><p>

<strong>Match 5: Bubblegum Brawlers (Higgins & Perez) vs The Dogs of War © (Capitano & Kass) for the Tag Team Titles</strong></p><p>

As the match is about to start, Capitano offers her hand to Teresa Perez who is starting in the ring for Bubblegum Brawlers. Clearly of the opinion that Capitano’s offer of a handshake is disingenuous, Teresa just scoffs and slaps Capitano’s hand. The match starts out with a lot of feeling each other out, test of strength, locking up, cheeky pin attempts. While Teresa is just doing what she can to keep momentum on her side, it soon become apparent that Capitano’s plan involves Teresa’s left knee which end up the target of Capitano’s attacks again and again. </p><p> </p><p>

When Capitano tags in Kass, Teresa is hobbling around the ring, and though she knocks Kass down with an enziguiri, it looks as though it hurts herself as much as her opponent. It does give her time to tag in her partner however. Christy does not even bother to get into the ring, instead just climbs her turnbuckle and waits for Kass to get to her feet before delivering a big missile drop kick that gets the crowd going. Christy gets to represent speed and mobility to Kass’ raw power. Lots of irish whips, and alternating hurricanranas and clotheslines. Christy suffers the big hits, but any number of drop kicks and hurricanranas has worn Kass down to the point that when she clotheslines Christy over the ropes, she rather go for the tag than follow Christy outside to continue beating her up.</p><p> </p><p>

Getting into the ring, Capitano can’t resist the big move, calls it out before suicide diving into Christy and the crowd barrier, but clearly taking the brunt of the damage herself. Christy gives her a german suplex for good measure before struggling back into the ring. Referee Erin Lawrence starts counting out Capitano, but she gets up on the ring apron in time, only for Christy to rush her, giving her a stiff kick in the chest, knocking her straight back to the arena floor, and the count start over again, but Christy doesn’t wait for Capitano to get counted out, instead springboarding herself down to slam Capitano to her back once again with a crossbody. This time, Christy pulls Capitano to her feet with a grip on her hair, rolling her back into the ring. Christy goes for the pin, Kass runs in to break it up, Teresa super kicks her dead in her tracks, Capitano kicks out at two and a half. </p><p> </p><p>

With Kass and Teresa returning to their ring corners, Christy continues working on Capitano, boot stomps to the chest, tries a pin again, but Capitano gets a shoulder up. Christy goes top turnbuckle for her Florida Uprising and delivers the top rope flipping leg drop to Capitano, and crawls over for the pin. As Kass runs in to break it up again, Teresa launches herself on her, locking in the Around the World armbar, and while it’s unclear if it would be able to hold Kass down for long, it lasts long enough for the referee to count to three as Capitano fails to get a shoulder up.</p><p>

<strong>Christy Higgins win by pinfall in 20:52</strong></p><p><strong>

Match Rating: B-</strong></p></p><p>

There is a moment of stunned silence before Teresa, Christy and the crowd realize they have won, and then the cheering starts as Christy and Teresa hug and celebrate. Capitano looks half out of it, but Kass is furious, and before they realize the danger, she clothesline the Bubblegum Brawlers from behind, delivers a Kill Switch to Teresa. When she turns around to give one to Christy as well, Christy is already on her feet, tries to spear Kass, but it’s primary result is that she gets stuck in a headlock. Kass slams her fist into Christy’s back a couple of times, before giving her a DDT. With that, she looks at the carnage around her, rolls out of the ring and walks off stage, not waiting for Capitano who eventually makes her way off stage on her own.</p><p> </p><p>

Paige Croft steps out on the top of the ramp, holding the World title high. The reaction to the champion appearing is strong, if a bit split. She has a lot of fans, but the predominant reaction is still a lot of booing. </p><p> </p><p>

As she walks down the ramp toward the ring, it’s as if the crowd didn’t exist, her eyes never leaving the challenger. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Alfonso Garcia:</strong> You have to wonder if the loss to Chitose in the Contender Series is weighing on the champion’s mind in a moment like this.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Grace Harper: </strong>Don’t be ridiculous. She suffered a freak injury. It wasn’t a real loss. Paige Croft in peak condition won’t lose to Chitose Ariwara, not in a hundred years.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Farrah Hesketh:</strong> You seem awfully confident Grace, but we’ve seen big names fall to Chitose’s indomitable spirit before.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Grace:</strong> I think you are delusional.</p><p> </p><p>

In the ring, Paige has gotten up in Chitose’s face, taunting her with the title belt, until Chitose’s patience runs out and she violently push Paige away. Amused that she’s getting a rise out of her opponent, Paige comes right back, but this time she’s met with a super kick, dropping her in the middle of the ring to deafening approval from the crowd. </p><p>

<strong>Main Event: Chitose Ariwara vs Paige Croft © for the World Title</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>Neither part is in any mood to conserve their energy, the match starts at furious pace, chaining move after move together without a rest hold for minutes of action. Several times Paige is just about to lock in one of her submission holds, but every time, Chitose manages to slip out. More and more, it becomes apparent that it is Paige that is dictating the tempo, even when Chitose manages to avoid the brunt of the damage.</p><p> </p><p>

As the match goes on, Paige starts achieving the holds Chitose avoided earlier in the match, and for the next phase of the match, it’s a showcase of submission holds, and of Chitose’s refusal to give up, time after time managing to crawl to the ropes, forcing the break. </p><p> </p><p>

Twelve minutes into the match, referee Erin Lawrence takes an incidental bump as Chitose drop kicks Paige into the referee. She’s not knocked out, but clearly disoriented. Seeing this, Paige surveys the situation in the ring, looks back and forth between Chitose and Erin, and having made her decision, she delivers a cutter to the referee, knocking her out cold. </p><p> </p><p>

Chitose looks shocked at the attack on the referee, but she has no time to consider the implications as Paige is over her in no time. Brawling turn into mat wrestling, and soon Paige has Chitose in a painful armbar. Chitose taps, but there is no referee to call the match, and Paige looks like she could do this the whole day, happy to just hurt the challenger. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/MvdHpsB.jpg</span></p><p>

That’s when Cherry Bomb come running down the ramp with a steel chair in hand. Paige doesn’t even notice at first, not understanding what the crowd reaction is about, but when Cherry slides into the ring, she drops the hold on Chitose in alarm, trying to get away from the woman with the steel chair, but she’s not fast enough, and gets hit with the chair once, twice, three times, until she’s out as cold in the ring as the referee next to her. With a final derisive kick to Paige’s head, Cherry snorts, give Chitose a look, then rolls out of the ring and walks off.</p><p> </p><p>

If shock was Chitoses reaction at the attack on the referee, it’s not enough to describe her expression at seeing her enemy served on a platter by Cherry Bomb. As the referee stirs, Chitose crawl over to Paige’s body, pushes her over on her back and covers her for the pin. Erin is very slow to get her bearings, missing what could have been a ten-count, but as she starts counting, 1… 2.... Paige somehow gets a shoulder up, but in the subsequent sequence, she takes a soccer kick to the back, another to the front, and when she gets up again, Chitose rolls her up with her Victory roll, and this time, Paige is too weak to kick out in time. </p><p>

As the bell rings, there’s a blank look on Chitose’s face, as if she doesn’t understand what has just happened. When it dawns on her that she has won, she raises her index finger to the sky, looking like she has a difficult time containing her emotions as the significance of the win slowly comes to her, and the big contagious smile spreads across her face as she’s presented the World title belt, all while Paige looks on from the corner of the ring, shell shocked and devastated.</p><p> </p><p>

Seeing her opponent in that state, Chitose gets something soft over her, and she approaches Paige with an outstretched hand. Paige stares at her for the longest time as if there was some inner dialogue going on we couldn’t hear, but eventually she just mutedly shakes her head, rolls out of the ring and walks away, nursing her head on the way.</p><p>

Alfonso Garcia: Well, what a night! We have a new Shockwave champion, new tag team champions, but most of all, we have a new World champion!</p><p> </p><p>

Grace: Thanks to blatant cheating! It is an absolute outrage allowing a match to be decided in that way!</p><p> </p><p>

Farrah: Hypocrisy aside, Paige made her own bed tonight. If Erin even had realized what had happened, she would have called the match in Chitose's favor.</p><p> </p><p>

Grace: And who would have been champion? That's right, Paige. An awful referee call resulted in an unjust title change. I know I have the fans with me on this! </p><p> </p><p>

I've tried to make them shorter, but I might end up reducing them to just results in the end, but sometimes small things still happen in those matches that are relevant to some wrestler's storyline. That might be true for mid-card matches as well. As long as I get all story points across that I feel I need to make, it's fine that the rest of the match isn't told blow by blow.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As for the Contender's Crown tournament, at the very least the presentation will change next time I run it. So few story points are hit during it, I can probably do more than one event per write-up, and just write out anything that make old and new feuds flair up. I might only make one prediction contest for the entire contest. We'll see. It won't look the same, at least.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div>

<p>Man, great show. I was definitely surprised at all three titles changing hands, but each switch worked within the context of the match and story, so no compliants there. It's also nice to have established that precedent so it's never out of the question.</p><p> </p><p>

Held at War Memorial Auditorium (Mid-West)</p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match: <strong>Cherry Bomb</strong> vs Lily Snyder</p><p>

<em>My confidence in this pick is high. </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Opening Match: Alexis Lee vs <strong>Brooke Tyler</strong></p><p>

<em>I see the push for Brooke heating up.</em></p><p>

Match 2: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Maria Guest vs Laura Flame vs <strong>Maribel Mercado</strong></p><p>

<em>Ah, so maybe Laura, maybe Maria? Sorry to hear Etsuko has bad chemistry with Brayfield, so I'm guessing that kills that storyline. For no other reason than random chance, I'll go with Maribel.</em></p><p>

Match 3: <strong>Birds of Prey</strong> vs Winters & Svelte</p><p>

<em>If Birds of Prey beat Special Edition, they should be this team. </em><img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Match 4: <strong>Bubblegum Brawlers</strong> vs The Dogs of War for the Tag Team titles</p><p>

<em>I'll admit that Perez and Higgins winning the titles made me really happy. That said, it would be kind of twisted to have them drop the titles right away here. </em></p><p>

Main Event: Foxxy LaRue vs <strong>Talia Quinzel</strong> in a Cage match</p><p>

<em>So Foxxy picked up a win at the last event, while Talia lost. That's the deciding factor for me here, besides this being in the Mid-West. Should be a hard hitting affair though.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

- Which is the match of the night? I'll go <strong>main event</strong>. Just seems like a big deal.</p><p>

- Will the tag team titles change hands? Ah, <strong>no</strong>! Please! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Tie breaker: What is the event rating? (Last time in the Mid West, main evented by Cherry Bomb, Killer Kass, Jillian Jarvis and Foxxy LaRue in a 4-way match, we scored a 57). Hot main event = <strong>60</strong></p>

Just to qualify, I'm totally happy with the length of your pre-show segments. It just blows my mind that there could be as many as 8 wrestlers floating around on the pre-show. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I guess that's what happens when you're big enough to need depth for your roster but not big enough to have a development fed! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Predictions!

Dark Match: Cherry Bomb vs Lily Snyder

Continue to build up Cherry's momentum without having her face someone she's neck-deep in a storyline with.

Opening Match: Alexis Lee vs Brooke Tyler

Alexis Lee represents the past of BSC. Brooke Tyler represents the future of QAW.

Match 2: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Maria Guest vs Laura Flame vs Maribel Mercado

Someone needs to step themselves up. With Brayfield in her corner, it might just be Arihyoshi.

Match 3: Birds of Prey vs Winters & Svelte

THEY'RE NINJAS. How could they possibly lose this one? :D

Match 4: Bubblegum Brawlers vs The Dogs of War for the Tag Team titles

I sense potential dissention in the ranks of the Dogs of War. I think it costs them the title, though the Brawlers will get a thorough thrashing before this one's said and done.

Main Event: Foxxy LaRue vs Talia Quinzel in a Cage match

The Mistress of the Backbreaker is poised to make a statement in what I think will be an upset victory over Foxxy. I believe the win won't be clean and Foxxy's going to want a return match, but I think Talia starts making herself a real factor in the main event picture.

Bonus Questions:

- Which is the match of the night?

I think it'll be the tag team title match. Capitano and Kass seem like they have more drawing power than Foxxy or Talia, and the tag experience bonus might come into play.

- Will the tag team titles change hands?

No, I think they remain on the Brawlers for now. Let Kass and Cap be free to pursue different storylines more independent of each other.

Tie breaker: What is the event rating? (Last time in the Mid West, main evented by Cherry Bomb, Killer Kass, Jillian Jarvis and Foxxy LaRue in a 4-way match, we scored a 57). I'm calling for a 58 - I think Foxxy and Talia have stronger drawing power than the average of those four workers, and the tag match should be pretty hot and contribute to a slightly better score.

<strong>Dark Match: Cherry Bomb vs Lily Snyder</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>As much heel as she is, it's Lily Snyder who tries to get the crowd going while Cherry Bomb displays clear impatience at having to wrestle a "meaningless" pre-show match against someone like Snyder, that if it isn't Paige Croft, it doesn't matter. Still, she dispatches of Lily Snyder in a match that despite being relatively one-sided manages to entertain the crowd quite a bit.</p><p>

Teresa and Christy walks out, belts in hands and big smiles, receiving the love from the crowd, taking the time to give high fives, hug young fans before getting in the ring. Teresa is just about to put microphone to mouth when the Dogs of War's music hits, and Capitano and Killer Kass come marching down the ramp. Usually with a flair for the dramatic, Capitano has no time for theatrics as she steps into the ring, Kass following close behind. She grabs a microphone on her way.</p><p> </p><p>

"I bet you feel good about yourself," Capitano says, to nods of agreement from both Christy and Teresa, who even make two thumbs up. </p><p> </p><p>

"That's right, boo them, for what they did. And for what, anyway? To be a footnote in the history books? Because that's what you are. A footnote. A blip on the screen."</p><p> </p><p>

Teresa gives Capitano a piercing look. "What's your point? If you're so great, shouldn’t you have been able to hold on to these," she says, pushing her title belt into Capitano's face. </p><p> </p><p>

"My point," Capitano says but never finishes her sentence as she kicks Teresa in the mid-section, as Kass lariats Christy. Together, they power bomb Teresa into the mat before Capitano grabs the microphone again, leaning over the fallen champions. "My point is, we're taking these belts back tonight. Don't get used to them."</p><p>

</strong>The fourway match quickly become a chaotic affair with competitors trading opponents back and forth. At one point, Maribel Mercado and Maria Guest ends up fighting on the outside, while Laura and Etsuko square off in the ring. Boss Man looks on with interest, not having gotten involved before, but now he finds himself a steel chair. With a steel chair in hand, his way of observing the action looks a lot more predatory. Inevitably, Etsuko notices the chair, stops fighting Laura to question what Boss Man is doing with the chair. He quickly unfolds it and sits down, professing innocence, while in the ring, Laura Flame sneaks up on Etsuko, rolling her up for the pin attempt. Etsuko just barely gets out of it, but as soon as she gets up, she eats a Flame Fire Kick, and this time Laura pins her for the 3-count. </p><p>

For the first time coming out with the World champion title belt around her waist, all smiles, Chitose Ariwara seem like she want to hug every single fan on the way to the ring, but Dharma Gregg who is waiting in ring for her looks sufficiently impatient that Chitose impishly apologizes to fans that she has to hurry up a bit and steps into the ring.</p><p> </p><p>

“Got that out of your system? I never thought I’d say this, but congratulations on the World title. Good of you to defy the odds.” </p><p> </p><p>

There’s no way to miss Dharma’s voice is dripping with sarcasm, but Chitose’s good mood looks impossible to shake as she completely ignore the barbs. </p><p> </p><p>

“I was never concerned with odds. They are just numbers. All you need to do is compare two quantities. How much heart are you putting into what you do, and is it more than what your opponent is able to muster. But it weighs on me how the match was decided. Paige Croft deserve a rematch,” she says, and for once her words are met by a smattering of booing.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/MvdHpsB.jpg</span></p><p>

“Paige deserve a rematch,” she repeats, “without interference. For that reason, I want to bring out Cherry Bomb. Cherry?” Chitose says, and it’s not long before Cherry Bomb walks down the ramp. Once inside, she takes a slightly stand-offish stance. “What’s on your mind, champ?” Cherry says.</p><p> </p><p>

“I want Paige Croft to get a clean rematch. I want to ask you to put aside your feud next week and promise me to not interfere. I want to be the champion on my own merits,” Chitose says, looking Cherry in the eyes. </p><p> </p><p>

Cherry Bomb is quiet for a moment, considering the request. “Very well, then. I promise.”</p><p> </p><p>

Dharma has been quiet for a while, but now she pipes up. “If you want to fight undisturbed by outside forces, we have the solution. We have dusted off the good old cage for tonight’s event, so how about putting the rematch next week in that same cage. Paige isn’t here tonight to give her views on the matter, but I’m sure she doesn’t object.” Chitose looks a bit surprised, but shrugs and nods.</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t mind. Thank you Cherry for understanding,” Chitose says, shaking Cherry’s hand then waves to the crowd one more time before exiting the stage.</p><p>

<strong>Match 3: Birds of Prey vs Claire Winters & Selina Svelte</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>With no Talia Quinzel in sight, it’s like the only thing keeping Claire and Selina civil to each other is gone. They’re arguing already on their way to the ring, in it they argue about who starts and once the match start they can’t seem to agree when it’s time to tag in and when it’s not. Onishii and Higa aren’t shy to exploit the dissension on the other team and with world class teamwork and Higa showing signs of why she’s called “Miss Perfection”. At the end, Claire is in bad need of a tag, but Selina isn’t particularly interested in helping out her partner, off on the arena floor recovering from her last round in the ring. </p><p>

A display of fast high flying action culminates with the Birds of Prey delivering the Death from Above, and Gemmei Onishii covers Claire for the win.</p><p>

Barely backstage, Claire gives Selina a shove. “What the hell was that about? I’ve had it with your bad attitude!”</p><p> </p><p>

Selina gets in Claire’s face. “My bad attitude? Let me show you bad attitude,” she says, cold cocking Claire with a right hook, not waiting for Claire to collapse before power slamming her into a bunch of crates. Selina stares down at Claire who groggily looks up at her upside down. </p><p> </p><p>

“I’ve had enough of this ridiculous sit-com triangle. QAW is clearly not big enough for us both. Next week, your contract against mine. First one to say ‘I Quit’ leaves this company for good. Deal?” Selina snarls.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Match 4: Bubblegum Brawlers © vs The Dogs of War for the Tag Team titles</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>With Capitano and Christy starting in the ring, the match opens up unusually cautiously for the two competitors, but perhaps it is the significance of the match that plays a part. Lots of grappling, wrestling for position, headlocks are traded for leglocks broken up by pin attempts. Christy shows a greater willingness to go toe to toe with her opponent than she has done before, unleashing a series of elbows taking Capitano by surprise, enough that she takes the first opportunity to tag in Kass. </p><p> </p><p>

Kass dominates the ring, but there is clear frustration at the quickness of her opponents, both Christy and Teresa well familiar with Kass’ big clotheslines, dodging under them with ease. Still, it’s only a matter of time before she gets her hands on an opponent, and for a long part of the match, Kass is throwing Teresa around the ring, until she gets winded and lets Capitano take over. </p><p> </p><p>

Instead of physical dominance, Capitano goes right of the bat for the top turnbuckle, delivering a beautiful shooting star senton, and goes to cover Teresa, but Christy rushes in to break it up, and in the process manages to deliver a good running knee to Capitano. Kass complains about the interference, but that only allows Christy some extra time in the ring, and while Teresa hasn’t had time to recover from the senton a moment ago, she has presence enough to put up a knee, so that when Christy delivers a cutter to Capitano, knee and face meet. Christy leaves the ring and Teresa covers Capitano, the referee counts 1...2… but she kicks out at the very last moment. </p><p> </p><p>

Teresa brings Capitano back to her feet for a suplex, but Capitano manages to create some distance, sends Teresa away with an Irish whip and drop kicks her on the return - that is, if Teresa hadn’t grabbed hold of the ropes. Instead she waits until Capitano is getting up, throw herself into a tornado DDT, spiking Capitano hard, but rather than lie down, she immediately stumbles to her feet, only for Teresa to follow up with a high kick which Capitano somehow catches but is unprepared for Teresa to transition into her Around the World spinning armbar. It’s obvious Capitano isn’t going to last long, Kass lumbers in to break it up, but Christy is alert, stopping Kass with a drop toe-hold. Suddenly, Kass focus is on Christy, who is holding on for dear life, willing to take any amount of punishment as long as Kass isn’t breaking up Teresa’s hold on Capitano’s arm, and with no immediate help coming, Capitano finally taps out. </p><p>

<strong>Teresa Perez wins by submission in 19:40</strong></p><p><strong>

Match Rating: C (62)</strong></p></p><p> </p><p>

Brought to their limits but still champions, Teresa and Christy has to lean on each other as they celebrate their first defense as champions. While Capitano is still out in the ring, Killer Kass steps into the ring looking furious. Unnoticed by the champions, she attacks them from behind, striking them both to the ground. She picks up Teresa Perez, power bombs her into the mat, then lifts her up again, carries her to the edge of the ring and throws her to the outside where Teresa takes a bad fall to the outside where she collapses. Kass then turns to Christy Higgins and start brutally attacking her - power slam, then a spinebuster before delivering the Kill Switch. By now, Christy is like a sack of potatoes in Kass’ hands, but Kass isn’t done. While an exhausted Capitano leans against the ropes, watching on, she lifts up Christy in a fireman’s carry, make an extra show of the move to come, finally drops Christy neck first over her knee, looks down at her victim who’s writhing in agony, crying out in pain. Kass’ nostrils flare with her rage, she lifts Christy again, delivering a second neckbreaker, leaving Christy out cold. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/WSqBaZQ.jpg</span> </p><p>

Kass grabs Christy by the neck, prop her up on the ropes facing the announce table where Christy’s fiancé Alfonso Garcia has stood up, composure fast failing him. Kass stares him in the eyes, challenging him to come save his girlfriend. Understandably hesitant, and not much of a fighter, Alfonso still inches his way toward the ring until he’s standing just below Kass and Christy.</p><p> </p><p>

“Please,” he pleads. “Haven’t you done her enough harm?” </p><p> </p><p>

Kass gives him another long look, scoffs and steps away from Christy. Meanwhile, Capitano has recovered enough that she has sat up, leaning against the bottom ropes, vacantly witnessing Kass’ rampage. Before she rolls out of the ring, Kass give Capitano a look before rolling out of the ring and march up the ramp as Alfonso hurries into the ring to look after Christy. Soon, medical staff joins him in the ring, a neck brace is fitted on Christy before she is loaded on to a stretcher and carried out, joined by Alfonso and Teresa Perez who has recovered enough to leave on her own. </p><p>

<strong>Farrah Hesketh:</strong> I… I don’t know what to say. I hope we can get back to you with news of Christy’s condition, but… I’m sorry, I’m stunned. Normally, Alfonso would announce the main event now, so I guess I will have to do it in his place. As soon as the cage has been erected, it is time for the big match of the night as Foxxy LaRue takes on Talia Quinzel. The match is to be determined by pinfall, submission or escape.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Grace Harper:</strong> You know I think Killer Kass has an attitude this company could do with more of, but even I have to admit, that attack was over the line. </p><p> </p><p>

<p style="border:3px;border-style:solid; border-color:#0020C2; padding: 2em;"> <span>http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg</span>  vs <span>http://i.imgur.com/LqQJWHu.jpg</span> </p><p>

<strong>Main Event: Foxxy LaRue vs Talia Quinzel in a Cage match</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong>As the match starts, Talia throw glances at the door, but measuring up against Foxxy, it’s as if she realizes her physical advantage and let go of any ideas of an escape win. Instead, she’s only too happy to go toe to toe with Foxxy who isn’t one to shy away from a brawl herself. They trade blows, and though Talia seems to have a bit more power behind her punches, there seem to be practically no limit how much Foxxy is capable of taking, and in the end it’s Talia that backs down, having had enough of Foxxy’s stiff kicks and uppercuts. </p><p> </p><p>

Instead, Talia start working Foxxy’s left knee, with the idea to make Foxxy unable to use the Flash Head Kick, and as a tactic, it appears very effective, not only does Foxxy’s kicks fade, the heel hook Talia applies is painful enough that Foxxy for a while look like she’s prepared to tap, but she manage to claw her way to the ropes and break the hold. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/vzm4Q0V.jpg</span> </p><p>

With usual grit and determination, Foxxy works her way back into the match, start using her kicks again while gritting her teeth in pain, when suddenly Claire Winters come running down the ramp. By the door to the cage Dale Kenney is positioned, backup referee and “doorman” in case someone goes for a cage escape. When Claire come running, he stands in the, trying to stop her, but she hits him with a big boot, knocking him out cold. Foxxy sees the danger, and as Claire opens the door to get in, Foxxy spears her right back out, but if she had any thoughts of stepping out herself, Talia is right behind her, grabs the hurt left leg and drags her back into the ring. Foxxy hits her with an enziguiri, giving her just enough time to once more stop Claire right in the door to the cage, this time with a Flash Head Kick, but again Talia is right on her heels, this time grabbing her around the waist, release suplexing her all toward the far end of the ring. </p><p> </p><p>

By now arena staff has rushed in and contained Claire while the action continues in the ring. As Foxxy struggles to her feet, Talia moves into a butterfly hold, but whatever she had planned, Foxxy counters with a new signature move, the MFIC, a spinning kamikaze that drops Talia hard on her head. Rather than covering Talia for the pin, or simply walk out of the cage, Foxxy stands by Talia, catching her breath while Talia slowly gathers her wits, slowly getting to her feet. Only to run into a Flash Head Kick, and this time Foxxy pins her, for the win.</p><p>

Enjoyed the show even without Paige there.</p><p> </p><p>

Looking forward to Winters/Svelte (though I'll be regretting that when Svelte loses).</p><p> </p><p>

I'm enjoying the Arihyoshi/Boss Man build too. That and involving Alfonso were two excellent touches for me that benefit the show because they're adding depth to the supporting cast.</p>

She was clearly the worst performer in this match. Also, wrong time to drop the belts. Now they look like the proper champions. And both Christy and Teresa improved their rumble skills in this match which made me happy to see they're still improving.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Main Event: </div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Foxxy LaRue</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> vs Talia Quinzel</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> If anything, I feel I've mishandled Foxxy's push a bit. <p>Another good entry. I'll admit that Foxxy winning really surprised me. Just when I started to discount her as a focus for QAW, it sounds like she's moving back up the card (not that she really ever left the main event scene <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />).</p><p> </p><p>

Of course me doubting the ability of Perez and Higgins to put on the match of the night cost me the prediction contest. Such is life. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Held at The Ranch of San Antonio (Mid South)</p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match 1: Thea Davis vs <strong>Brooke Tyler</strong></p><p>

<em>Brooke's getting the monster push, while Thea continues to bide her time.</em></p><p>

Dark Match 2: Juana Huracán vs <strong>Maribel Mercado</strong></p><p>

<em>Probably wrong, but I'll say Maribel for the hell of it. </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Opening Match: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs <strong>Laura Flame</strong></p><p>

<em>Ah, good to know Etsuko and Brayfield's lack of chemistry is an act. </em><img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><em> Still, Laura is moving up in the world, while Etsuko's storyline needs a few more losses to fully play out fully it seems.</em></p><p>

Match 2: Águila Azul Celeste vs <strong>Charity Sweet</strong></p><p>

<em>Blue sky eagle! This is the perfect opponent for Águila's debut, but I can't see Charity losing this, even with the spillover popularity gains Águila likely has.</em></p><p>

Match 3: <strong>Claire Winters</strong> vs Selina Svelte I Quit match</p><p>

<em>Damn, if this really is a loser leaves town situation, it's really hard for me to pick. Money isn't an issue and I don't think either wrestler is a good or bad influence backstage. This is probably my bias for Winters showing, but I feel like she has a better chance at succeeding in QAW's product than Svelte. That said, I could totally see Selina winning, so this is really a toss up.</em></p><p>

Match 4: <strong>Birds of Prey</strong> vs The Dogs of War</p><p>

<em>Wow, what a big win this would be for Birds of Prey. I think there's a possible route for a split of Dogs of War forming (certainly would be an interesting way to keep Capitano and Kass out of the World title picture for a bit) so I'll say this ends in a Rage DQ from Kass.</em></p><p>

Main Event:<strong>Chitose Ariwara</strong> © vs Paige Croft in a Cage, for the World title</p><p>

<em>Wow, how hardcore it would be to have Chitose drop the belt here (it looks like DQ or Countout is out of the question). My guess is that interference will come into play against Paige, and we could be seeing some kind of double switch between Croft and her attacker (I must admit, for all her heel-like behavior, I can't help but root for Paige).</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

- How many titles change hands during the event? <strong>0</strong></p><p>

- A former SWF employee is introduced as part of the on-camera roster. Who? Trying to think which SWF managers I usually see get released around this time. I'll say <strong>Jessie</strong>, though Ana Garcia as the third member of the announce team would be pretty interesting.</p><p> </p><p>

Tie breaker: What is the attendance? (Capacity is 10,000, last time at the Ranch it wa 8,113) Hmmm, I know you said the wrestling industry is in decline in the US, so I'll be conservative and say <strong>8,200</strong></p>

<p>Dark Match 1: Thea Davis vs <strong>Brooke Tyler</strong></p><p>

Gotta keep building Brooke up as the next generation.</p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match 2: <strong>Juana Huracán</strong> vs Maribel Mercado</p><p>

Hmmm! Interesting to see this as a dark match. This one could really go either way, or to a draw. I'm going to go with Juana but Maribel could have this just as easy.</p><p> </p><p>

Opening Match: <strong>Etsuko Arihyoshi</strong> vs Laura Flame</p><p>

Arihyoshi's come close a few times with Brayfield helping her out (even if she doesn't like it). I think this time Brayfield helps her out and Etsuko gets the win. Question is, how will she react?</p><p> </p><p>

Match 2: Águila Azul Celeste vs <strong>Charity Sweet</strong></p><p>

¡Viva OLLIE! A potential upset, if Águila has a bunch of popularity in the Mid-South due to OLLIE. But my guess is that she doesn't, and falls to Charity Sweet.</p><p> </p><p>

Match 3: <strong>Claire Winters</strong> vs Selina Svelte I Quit match</p><p>

Damn, the stakes here couldn't be higher. Winters is capable of great things - DPW has shown that. Svelte's ceiling may be lower. However, Svelte should have ridiculous tag experience with Talia Quinzel, who appears to be getting a push. I'm going with Winters based on pure potential, but Svelte makes sense as a winner, too.</p><p> </p><p>

Match 4: Birds of Prey vs <strong>The Dogs of War</strong></p><p>

There's no way the Dogs can lose three in a row...can they? I think they take this one, but the strain between the Dogs continues to grow. If they don't take this one, I would see a breakup happening much faster.</p><p> </p><p>

Main Event: <strong>Chitose Ariwara ©</strong> vs Paige Croft in a Cage, for the World title</p><p>

I think we legitimize Ariwara here, even further. Croft's got that program with Cherry Bomb that doesn't require the QAW belt to have a reason for them to be fighting. I think we might see Ariwara's next challenger sometime during or after this match.</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

- How many titles change hands during the event?</p><p>

<strong>Zero</strong> this time.</p><p> </p><p>

- A former SWF employee is introduced as part of the on-camera roster. Who?</p><p>

In terms of the people the big companies seem to let go, managers are often the ones who get dropped. I'm going to go with <strong>Jessie</strong> as well - and she'd be a great fit for QAW's product, to boot!</p><p> </p><p>

Tie breaker: What is the attendance? (Capacity is 10,000, last time at the Ranch it was 8,113) </p><p>

You've been running some good shows. Main events can affect your attendances, as can an industry downturn. So, I think there's a slight downturn, but not by much - <strong>8,100</strong> is my guess.</p>

<p>Interlude:</p><p> </p><p>

<p style="border:3px;border-style:solid; border-color:#0020C2; padding: 2em;"><strong>Friday, the week before</strong></p><p><strong>

In Farrah Hesketh’s office</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/Ejm21gp.jpg</span> <span>http://i.imgur.com/FadP8Et.jpg</span> <span>http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg</span> </p><p> </p><p>

Farrah Hesketh, Boss Man Brayfield and Sarah Wilkes had spread out as well as they could in Farrah's small office, Jackson Brayfield in his usual armchair, Farrah at her desk which Sarah tended to claim as her own as Farrah rarely were around in the weeks. Now, she was pacing in the in the small amount of space available to do so. A newly installed white board reveals on one side a relationship map, on the other half the usual chaos of post it notes, still seemingly Sarah's preferred method of laying out her bookings. </p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/8tsKEih.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Sarah hands over a slip of paper to Farrah. “Here’s the card for next week. The first Army of One in September.” Farrah looks through it. “No Joella Parent this week? You’ve been running her through her paces the last few weeks.”</p><p> </p><p>

Sarah cracks her neck uncomfortably. “Yeah… I decided to let her go.”</p><p> </p><p>

Farrah raises an eyebrow. “Really? She seemed to have plenty of talent. What made you do that?”</p><p> </p><p>

It's obviously a difficult topic for Sarah. Booking matches and pushes is one thing, deciding who gets a pay check and who doesn't is something else.</p><p> </p><p>

“She was too high maintenance for someone of her stature. In her position, you don't go around like you own the locker room. 18 years old, in your first year of wrestling, you listen, you do everything in your power to pick up anything from the veterans in the locker room. Joella wouldn't even shake hands with them, much less take their advice. Then she got into a big fight with Maria. That happens, and Maria is argumentative when she’s in a good mood,” Sarah says, about to say another few truths about Maria Guest, but a raised eyebrow from the young prodigy’s mentor makes her pull back. </p><p> </p><p>

“I had not heard any complaints about Maria, is there an issue there?” Farrah asks in a measured voice.</p><p> </p><p>

“No, no, everything’s fine. She has strong convictions, but that’s just a good thing,” Sarah says, having learnt long ago that sorting out Maria Guest’s issues or convincing Farrah that her protege wasn’t a literal saint was much more likely to render herself unemployed than actually fixing anything.</p><p> </p><p>

“Then she showed up to her meeting with Miss Mexico to discuss her next match. TWO. HOURS. LATE.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Oh dear,” Farrah says.</p><p> </p><p>

“Honestly, to rack up that number of incidents in one month… If it had been Fuyuko, we would have had a serious discussion. If Joella had been one of a kind, a unique talent, maybe I would have given her one more chance. I thought she looked promising, but she's been unwilling to learn. I mean, what do you do? I told her I wished her well, but that there wasn't room on the roster for her any longer.” Sarah says almost apologetically.</p><p> </p><p>

“I still think she had potential, but let someone else see if they can coax it out. Too much work,” Boss Man says, looking longingly at the cigar he isn’t allowed to light in Farrah’s office. He continues. "It might not be the only one we need to let go either. We can afford them, but we're wasting a lot of talent that we just don't have time to give the push they deserve." He looks at Sarah. "You might want to think about who you have any plans for. The rest should probably be on the short list to be let go."</p><p> </p><p>

“Ok, ok, anything else?” Farrah asks.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/qz414MX.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

“Yes, I have a question. Are we getting any benefit out of being members of COTT anymore?” Sarah asks.</p><p> </p><p>

“We joined on your suggestion. Are you suggesting we should leave the alliance again? That might make us impopular among its members.” Farrah says.</p><p> </p><p>

Sarah sighs. “I think it might be best. It might have been a mistake to join from the start, but the idea was to protect us from competition in our home region, but now we are bigger than any of our allies by far and we are putting on a show that they frankly can’t compete with. If we want to expand, COTT is standing in our way.” </p><p> </p><p>

“What do you think, Jackson,” Farrah asks.</p><p> </p><p>

“There was a time when we could loan wrestlers from OLLIE and they’d be an asset, but now, we are in a different position. Anyone we bring in, we have to build up and let the fans get to know them. It takes time. Loans don’t make much sense then. I think the analysis is correct. We don’t need COTT.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I’ll make the necessary calls then. Larry Vessey will understand, but I don’t look forward to talking with Cliff Anderson and Domino. To CZCW and OLLIE, this might just look like an act of war,” Farrah says.</p><p> </p><p>

“Is there some other word for it?” Boss Man says. </p></p>

Army of One Week 2 September 2018

The Ranch of San Antonio in front of 8,529 people

Dark Match 1: Thea Davis vs Brooke Tyler

In a well fought pre-show match, Brooke Tyler methodically out-maneuvered Thea Davis, and while Davis fought back well, Tyler put on a convincing performance, and once she had the Brooke Breaker locked in, the result was never in question, and Thea Davis soon after tapped out.

Brooke Tyler wins by submission in 9:13

Dark Match 2: Juana Huracán vs Maribel Mercado

In a match that would have served well on the main show, the two luchadoras fought a hard fought match, pitting Maribel’s high flying, classic lucha style against Juana’s modern MMA style with lots of mat work and always looking to soften up her opponent enough to lock in the Time-Square Lock, and that’s exactly how the match ends after Juana evading Maribel’s Senton bomb, giving her time to lock in her signature submission hold, and another match ends with a submission.

Juana Huracán wins by submission in 10:10

Cut to a filmed segment. Through a dark passage way, a masked luchadora is escorting a guest who looks like a tourist attempting a Lara Croft get up. One can argue it looks a little silly, but the wearer looks so good, it’s easy to look past.

The masked woman speaks in slightly broken English. “Miss Potter, I hope your Mexican stay has been pleasant. The Jaguar Queen appreciates you taking the time to come here.”

“Águila Azul Celeste, was it? I’m surprised your Jaguar Queen knows who I am, not to mention why she would want to meet me.”

“You are a tv star, miss Potter. The Jaguar Queen keeps up with what happens in the world of lucha, even beyond our borders. As for why she wants to see you, I think you need to ask her yourself.”

They step into a lavishly decorated room lit up by hundreds of candles, Aztec art lining the room. The camera sweep passes several masked women, landing on a golden throne, a jaguar skin hanging over its back. On the throne sits a woman in a jaguar patterned mask, elegantly overseeing her court - the Jaguar Queen.

Stepping into the light, it becomes even more clear what a stunning beauty Hannah Potter is as she somewhat nervously approach the throne.

“Hannah Potter,” the queen says addressing her. “Welcome to the home of my clan. Águila Azul Celeste, thank you for bringing our guest here safely.”

Águila Azul gives a curt nod before removing herself from the conversation.

“No offense, your majesty, but I am confused why you have summoned me. I understand you know me from my work in SWF, but I am not employed there anymore. What interest could you have in me?”

“Don’t sell yourself short, Hannah. Valiant wouldn’t have gotten where he got in SWF without a manager like you. My clan is old, Hannah. We have riches beyond what you can imagine, but wealth is just a means toward an end. We owe a substantial share of the wrestling company called QAW. My clan already dominates the Mexican world of lucha libre, but QAW is an international battleground. I want my luchadoras to do well, and I would be a bad queen if I didn’t give them an opportunity to thrive. You have the knowledge of the American wrestling scene to represent the Jaguar clan luchadoras on the board, and the ringside experience to have their backs when they compete. What do you say? I promise, the Jaguar Queen compensate her subjects generously.”

“I’m at your service, my queen. What would you have me do?”

“I think your first task will be to present a gift to the QAW world.”

Opening Match: Etsuko Arihyoshi /w Boss Man Brayfield vs Laura Flame

For a heel, Laura fights relatively straight, her powerful kicks doing it’s job intimidating with their lethality. However, Etsuko is an excellent technical wrestler and anytime they go into clinch, Laura comes out of it a little worse for wear, to the point that she at one point resorts to a rake across the eyes just to create a little distance.

The referee misses what happened, but notices Etsuko’s distress and decides to check up on her, to see that she’s fit to continue. With the attention elsewhere, Boss Man produces a brass knuckle from his pocket, and sneaks up on Laura who’s waiting in her ring corner for the referee to start the match again. Nobody notices him as he punches Laura hard in the neck, then steps down from the ring apron again.

Once the referee has cleared Etsuko, she notices Laura on the mat. Etsuko is clearly suspicious, looks meaningfully at Boss Man who just gestures, professing innocence. Despite her misgivings, Etsuko covers Laura for the pin, but just before three she kicks out. Seeing her opponent is weak, Etsuko puts Laura in the Arihyoshi Lockdown (a modified abdominal stretch). Barely conscious and with nowhere to go, Laura soon taps out.

Dharma Gregg is in the ring, looking like she’s not quite sure why she’s there. To Rihanna’s Diamonds, Hannah Potter with Águila Azul Celeste next to her comes out, three men in livery in tow each carrying a thin attache case in their hands. Dharma looks like she’s got an instant headache.

“Miss Potter… I heard of your appointment from the board. Let me tell you something. I have been here for some time now. Whenever the next hare brained ideas come out of those board room I know what to do to minimize the damage. This is my fiefdom. If you are smart, you stay quiet on the sideline, well out of my way.”

Hannah’s smile is a beam of sunshine. “If I didn’t know better I’d feel the welcome was a bit hostile. Just to show my good intentions, I bring gifts.”

Dharma sounds puzzled. “Gifts?”

“My Mexican employers question if you respect your lucha libre roots the way you should, and would like to remind you who are paying your salary. This time, they decided to use the carrot to encourage improvement. Next time, it will probably be the stick,” Hannah says with a smile and a shrug.

“How...nice,” Dharma tries. “What is this gift then?”

Hannah nods to the three men, who opens the cases with in a synchronized motion, slow and respectful as if handling something truly precious. Inside, they reveal three gem studded belts.

“...Belts?” Dharma ventures.

“Better. Titles. For decades, my employers have been in possession of these 6-person tag titles, but for a long time they have not had a natural place to be contested. They feel this ring is the right place to honor the rich past of these titles.”

“I… have nothing snarky to say. I’m sorry,” Dharma says, gently drawing a finger across one of the belts. Just then, music hits.

Jillian Jarvis, Charity Sweet and Deborah Young saunters into the ring, Jarvis gets a microphone on the way.

“A 6-man tag team title? I hope you realize where those belong,” she says, making the universal gesture around her waist. “You can just hand them over. They are ours,” Jarvis says with her usual growl.

Dharma looks uncomfortably at the three heels making a menacing presence in the ring, and Hannah Potter hides best she can behind Águila Azul Celeste. Finally, it is Hannah that answers.

“It’s great that strong teams such as Ronin 3 desire these belts, but a stipulation of the gift was that a team of Mexican luchadoras representing the tradition the belts came from would be allowed a chance to become the first wearers of these belts in QAW. But I have a suggestion if Dharma is amenable to it. Let Águila Azul Celeste here fight a champion of Ronin 3, like Jillian Jarvis. If Jillian wins, Ronin 3 will meet our team for the 6-person titles next week. Dharma?” Hannah says, putting a hand on Águila Azul’s shoulder.

“I think that’s a fine idea. And let it be known that from now on the titles will be called the Shockwave 6-person Championship, in line with our secondary individual championship.”

Jillian looks at them and scoffs. “Me, fight her? She’s beneath me. Charity can do it.”

Match 2: Águila Azul Celeste /w Hannah Potter vs Charity Sweet

Águila Azul Celeste carries herself with all the dignity of a knight of Lucha itself, not pandering to the crowd, just acknowledging them with a small smile and a curt nod, and in the ring, where she offers Charity Sweet a handshake even though it looks like she has to steel herself not to visibly show her disapproval of Charity’s sleazy appearance. When the Blue Eagle offers her hands, Charity takes that as an invitation and pulls the Mexican luchadora into something akin of a lover’s embrace to Águila Azul’s alarm. She breaks free, but not without looking very flustered from the exchange, while Charity winks suggesting she got to at least try.

In the ring, their styles match up well with lots of flips, lots of wheeling through the ring and plenty of aerial attacks. Águila Azul Celeste tries her best, but has a hard time to enthuse a crowd that knows nothing about her. In contrast, Charity’s large contingent of male fans has an easy time looking past her heelish behaviours, and it is with some cheering from the fans that she delivers the Sugar Smack and pins Águila Azul Celeste for the win.

Dharma Gregg has walked down to the announce table, and holds up two documents.

“These are the contracts of Claire Winters and Selina Svelte. We have agreed to the terms of this match. The loser’s contract is torn, and the wrestler is banished from QAW.”

http://i.imgur.com/2QUyjcm.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vzm4Q0V.jpg

Selina Svelte make her entrance first, walking down the ramp, not noticing when Claire comes running down the ramp after her with a steel chair in hand, delivering a hard blow to Selina’s back, then as she tries to get back up on her feet, Claire hits her another couple of times before she drags Selina into the ring, calling for the referee to start the match.

Match 3: Claire Winters vs Selina Svelte I Quit match

When the match starts, Selina is obviously weakened and is on her heels as Claire tries to finish the match in short order with hard physical brawling, lots of big boots and power slams. Selina does anything she can to slow down the pace of the match with rest holds hoping to recover some of her strength, but Claire is constantly keeping her busy, always working to get out of any hold, wrestling with a sense of urgency, knowing she has to capitalize on her early advantage. Sticking to the plan, she keeps working Selina’s back, while Selina with her far superior mat wrestling does whatever she can to reverse anything Claire tries, which works for a while, but her skill only takes her so far as Claire is able to keep punishing her body not only with submission moves but through repeated power bombs. The match ends with an extended sequence of attempts to lock in different submission holds, momentum shifting back and forth until Claire gets Selina face down. She gives her a stomp to the lower back then sits down and locks in a Camel Clutch, and Selina taps.

Claire Winters win by submission in 16:42

Claire gets up and turns to the announce table.

“Dharma! Time to do your part. You can send that contract through the shredder!”

Dharma stands up, holds Selina’s contract in front of her and slowly tears it in two. “It is done.”

http://i.imgur.com/Ejm21gp.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qyk7nTU.jpg

Farrah: I know the terms of the match were agreed upon beforehand but this makes me so sad. Sure I’ve criticised Selina in the past but this feels so cruel. Can’t we let bygones be bygones? Forgive and forget?

Grace: I’m glad you don’t run this company any more, or we’d all be on street corners begging for our next meal. Sometimes you have to make tough decisions, and sometimes the tough decisions are made for you. Selina is the kind of wrestler I would like to see more of, not less, but the upside is, we will get to see Claire plant those big boots in more deserving faces in the future. Are you sure you’re not going to lace on the wrestling boots again?

We got the power to fight the devil

We got burned bad, we've got the fire

We have learned that we are desire

If we want it and got our heart's set

We gotta give it all we've got or live to regret

We're different, both you and me

The theme music of Bubblegum Brawlers hit, but Teresa Perez comes out alone with the two tag team belts slung over both her shoulders as she somberly walks down the ramp to the ring.

“When Christy and I were fighting each other, we couldn’t imagine we would stand here today as tag team champions again. We caught lightning in a bottle once, but doing it again seemed impossible, but fighting somehow brought us closer, and we did it.”

She pauses to let the cheering from the fans die out. “As you can see, Christy isn’t here. After the cowardly assault after last week’s match she was rushed to the hospital, and she has been hospitalized since then. Early medical reports suggest the spinal trauma she suffered at the hands of Killer Kass will keep her from wrestling for up to a year. A YEAR!” Teresa struggles to keep her emotions in check.

“For that reason, it is with heavy heart that I’m announcing that the Bubblegum Brawlers today vacate the tag team titles we are so proud to have worn, even for this short time.”

http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg http://i.imgur.com/SrJMR1G.jpg

Music hits, and Capitano and Killer Kass come down the ramp, possibly to the loudest booing they’ve ever heard. Kass looks like she don’t care, but Capitano looks a bit shaken at the reaction. Still, she’s the one that gets a microphone as they step into the ring.

“Oh boo hoo. Kass hurt your favorite, and now you’re booing greatness? It is her you should be booing,” Capitano says, pointing at Teresa, who looks fuming, but is restraining herself.

“Here you could have been part of history, and instead you chose to stand in its way. What happened to Christy is what happens to anyone who stands in the way of progress, in the way of Killer Kass, in the way of Bad Girls Club! She. Had. It. Coming. Now, you may as well hand over those titles to the rightful owners.” Capitano holds out her hand, expecting a belt.

Somehow, Teresa manages to restrain herself, even though it’s obvious that she is about to boil over.

“You think your cowardly assault is going to benefit you, taking out an opponent you couldn’t handle in an honest fight? Well, let me tell you where your calculation went wrong. In the past, you were one of any number of opponents, rivals for the titles. Now, I may not be in the running for the tag team title any more without a partner by my side, but you have given me a purpose. Before Christy walks into this ring again, I swear you are going to curse the day you laid hands on her. I will make your lives hell.”

With that, she drops the mic, give Capitano a toe kick, leaning on Capitano she drop kicks Kass before her momentum plants Capitano head first in a tornado-like DDT. Kass is soon on her, knees her then lifts her over her head and gorilla press slams her.

http://i.imgur.com/xYuulxj.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GkDopuh.jpg

As Kass is about to continue the assault, music hits, and the Birds of Prey come running down the ramp. They slide into the ring and start wailing down on Kass. Two on one it’s quite an even affair, Kass not getting much room to fight back, but neither does it seem they are creating a lot of damage. However, she has forgotten all about Teresa Perez who slowly gets up, sees that Capitano is still groggy, sees Kass with her back to her. She takes her time, declaring her intent to the crowd, taking a run up through the entire ring before delivering the drop kick of her life to the back of Kass’ knee, dropping her like a ton of bricks.

http://i.imgur.com/2sYuUTT.jpg

With the two sides glaring at each other from a distance, music hits once more, and Dharma Gregg come out.

“Tsk, tsk. It is good that you can sort out your differences without me having to be involved, but let’s settle the score in the ring, ok?. As far as the titles, I don’t like to keep the titles vacated for too long, but let’s be somewhat thorough here. In two weeks two teams will face each other for the tag team titles. The winner of tonights match between the Dogs of War and the Birds of Prey, and the winner of a match between two teams to be announced next week. Questions? No? Good.” Dharma turns on her heel and leaves the stage.

Farrah: Well, that was a dramatic turn of events. Good to see Kass and Capitano get a little bit of comeuppance after that terrible attack last week. How do you feel, Alfonso?

Alfonso: As you say. It’s been an upsetting time, with Christy’s future in the balance. I mostly want to put it behind me though, if you understand.

Farrah: Completely. I think if you feel a desire for revenge, Teresa Perez will be your dark avenger.

Grace: And what an avenger! I have never been a fan until today. If she can continue to wreck opponents like that, I am a convert.

Match 4: Birds of Prey (Higa & Oonishi) vs The Dogs of War (Capitano & Kass) for a shot at the vacant tag team titles

Throughout the match, Higa and Oonishi display how well oiled their collaboration is, time and again combining to make difficult both for Capitano and Kass. Many of the tactics they apply are common heel tactics - not cheating, but at the same time never letting themselves be distracted by things like sportsmanship. They tag in and out to fight two against one, they use every second at rope breaks to keep doing damage to their opponent. There is a sequence when they manage to drop Kass on her stomach, and for a while they double team her, stomping her back over and over until the referee demands Oonishi to get out of the ring.

As Kass is clearly bothered by the knee Teresa attacked earlier, her fighting spirit is clearly not there. At the same time, Kass is an overwhelming opponent, and their whole match plan is to keep Kass on the ring apron as much as possible. It takes considerable effort, Gemmei gets in the way of some big hits and is wrecked when she tags in Higa, while Kass nurses the worked back and decides she’s had enough. Higa dodges under Capitano’s clothesline and delivers a flying drop kick at Kass who goes flying off the ring apron, colliding badly with the crowd barrier knocking her out cold.

Speed on her side, Capitano is about to deliver a running knee to Higa as she gets back up, but a warning shout in japanese from Gemmei allows Higa to slide to the side as Capitano hits empty air. Higa and Capitano ends up fighting back and forth. On her own, Higa can just barely keep up with Capitano, bug Gemmei is recovering on the side, and soon they’ve set up a two on one, quickly turning the odds against Capitano. As they deliver their combo finisher the Death from Above, Kass is getting to her feet on the floor, noticing that Capitano is in trouble. Equally, Higa has seen Kass, and while Gemmei covers Capitano, Higa suicide dives head first into Kass, taking her out of the equation long enough for the three-count.

Alfonso: After that satisfying ending, if I may take the liberty to insert some personal feelings in this, it is time for our main event, Chitose Ariwara defending her title in the rematch against the previous champion, Paige Croft.

Grace: Time to record the shortest title reign in QAW history. There is no doubt in my mind that Paige Croft will take her title back. It is in the bag, or in this case, the cage.

http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg

Paige Croft is first into the cage, giving the door a cursory look as she steps in. It would be an exhaggeration to say she shows arrogant bravado, but the idea of being locked in a cage with Chitose Ariwara is clearly not having her shaking in her boots either.

Music hits, and the upbeat pop theme of the World champion hits.

Paying my dues to the dirt

I’ve been waiting to smile, ‘ay

Been holding it in for a while, ‘ay

Paige does not even give the ramp a glance as Chitose steps out on the ramp in a new white opera cloak, hood pulled up covering her face. Suddenly lights in the arena flicker, a record scratch interrupts the music, and another tune blares out as the shape at the top of the ramp starts sprinting down toward the cage:

'Cause I have done it before and I can do it some more

I got my eye on the score

I'm gonna cut to the core

It's too late it's too soon or is it?

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, boom

And we see as the hood falls back during the sprint that it is Cherry Bomb on her way down to the cage.

http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/3tsRqZb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/MvdHpsB.jpg

For the broadcast audience we cut to a backstage segment. Chitose is in her locker room, taking her time to get prepared for the rematch. Cherry Bomb steps into the locker room. At first, she doesn’t say anything, watching the familiar ritual.

“Nervous?” she eventually asks.

Chitose smiles. “Always. But it’s a good feeling. I can’t wait.”

Cherry Bomb nods, casually looking around the room. “Good, good. That’s exactly the state of mind you need to be in. Well, I won’t take up any more of your time. I just wanted to wish you good luck.”

“Thank you. Hey, have you seen my new outfit? I love the cloak for the ring entrance.” Chitose says, pointing to the white opera cloak with hanging next to the locker room door.

“Yeah, it looks...nice,” Cherry nods, and from her facial expression, you can see the wheels start turning in her head. Seeing that Chitose has turned her attention to her mirror image, she quietly picks the cloak off the hanger, steps out of the locker room, and as she pushes a door stop under the locker room door, she whispers a “I’m sorry, Chitose” to herself.

As we cut back to the ring, Paige has now noticed with horror who is stepping into the cage, gestures to someone, anyone to get Cherry - or Paige - out of there. Cherry, who has pushed away the ineffective Dale Kenney whose job it was to guard the cage door, now produces a padlock and locks the cage door from the inside.

Turning to Paige, she makes a sadistic grin. “Sorry Paige. No title on the line today. Only your health. Referee, start the match! Ring the bell!”

Main Event: Cherry Bomb vs Paige Croft Cage match

For some reason, nobody questions that Cherry Bomb can decide that a match is happening, so the bell rings. Paige’s first reaction is one of terror - in futile fashion she tries to find a way away from Cherry Bomb, but obviously there is none, and her attempts at escape means ceding the initiative entirely to Cherry Bomb who double chops her hard in the back.

Cherry’s motivations colors the way she wrestles. She beats down on Paige with righteous fury while the former World champion just raise her arms in front of her face to defend herself, not even attempting a counter attack until a winded Cherry tires of punching the curled up ball on the mat at her feet. Only then does Paige make her first move of the match, trying to trip Cherry to get her involved in a mat wrestling match. It nearly works, but Cherry bounce out of the way, and Paige swivel up to a knee, facing her opponent, shaken but looking like the bombardment of fists hasn’t connected too bad.

Having resigned herself to the idea that there is no way out of this fight, Paige start taking the stance that has won her so many matches in the past, waiting for the opponent to commit, exposing any limb for her to twist, joints to extend. Cherry isn’t the fastest opponent she has faced, and so it is only a matter of time before Paige has Cherry in an armbar, holding on for dear life. Cherry is in agony, and for a moment it looks like the match is going to get a quick ending, until Cherry gets up on her feet and lifts Paige into the air, still holding on to Cherry’s arm. Cherry slams Paige into the mat, and when Paige still refuse to let go, Cherry starts beating her in the face with her free hand until Paige’s grip on Cherry’s arm slowly start to slip along with her consciousness.

Looking down at her opponent, Cherry looks almost disappointed that it didn’t take more to take out her nemesis. She goes to deliver the signature Cherry Bomb, but her arm fails her, and when she tries a second time Paige goes for her legs, desperately flipping her opponent over into a reverse cloverleaf.

She’s beaten and bruised, but for the first time, Paige’s face betrays a belief in victory. Cherry tries to turn around to face Paige, but the Submission Princess has gotten her nickname for a reason and is well prepared, not allowing any such attempts.

“The key! Give me the key!” Paige screams at Cherry, who just shakes her head, as much in agony as in refusal.

While she’s wary of any tricks, there is little Paige can do about the relative strength and mass between the two, as Cherry start clawing her way toward the ropes. After she gets there, she uses the rope for leverage, tossing Paige aside.

On unsteady legs, Cherry’s plan is monomaniacal, closing the gap between her and Paige the only thing that seems to be on her mind. Paige is now on the same page as she throws herself into a satellite octopus hold, but doesn’t have the strength to fully hold down Cherry who step by step take them toward the turnbuckle where she first tries to scratch Paige off her back, but when Paige refuses to let go, Cherry gingerly climbs the turnbuckle with Paige still stuck around her neck, now looking more and more concerned as they get higher up, until Cherry gets to the second turnbuckle. She pauses, as if she wants to give Paige a final chance to let go, but when she doesn’t, Cherry throws herself backwards out into the air, with Paige taking the brunt of the impact when they land. Stumbling to her feet, she brings Paige up one more time, shakes some life in her hurt arm before going for the Cherry Bomb one more time, and this time she overcomes the pain, bringing Paige down hard, before pinning her for the 1-2-3. After the match is over, she raises her fist as if to continue the beating, but something causes her to hold her punch. Something wistful passes over her as she looks at the face of her defeated foe. A moment later, she fishes out the key to the padlock and leaves the cage with no gesture of celebration.

Prediction Contest Results

</center>

Dark Match 1: Thea Davis vs
Brooke Tyler

Brooke put up exactly the kind of performance I hoped. Slow but steady, she’s getting to the point where I can put her in a real storyline. Sky's the limit, but it's a slowly rising balloon.

Dark Match 2:
Juana Huracán
vs Maribel Mercado -

Juana deserve some kind of professional worker of the year award for her performance in this match. Her in ring performance - in this pre-show match - was better than both Cherry Bomb and Killer Kass, just to name a couple of main eventers she outperformed.

Opening match:
Etsuko Arihyoshi
vs Laura Flame

Etsuko gets the win, but with means she’d probably not be happy about if she had seen what was going on. Laura Flame really put in a good effort in this match. I don’t know if something about the road agent notes or working as a face with a heel manager was the problem, but Etsuko was not as good in this match as I would have hoped. Maybe just an off night.

Match 2: Águila Azul Celeste /w Hannah Potter vs
Charity Sweet

Águila is a good enough worker, but completely unknown in the mid South. It will take some time to build her popularity. For now, she looks like little more than enhancement talent. Charity was good, and Hannah Potter looks like an instant asset.

Match 3:
Claire Winters
vs Selina Svelte

Neither is super over, which was large reason why the match felt a little underwhelming. Selina put in a really poor performance while Claire was fine, so in that sense it felt the right wrestler won.

Match 4:
Birds of Prey
vs The Dogs of War

Kass was a big disappointment in this match, while Higa is starting to look like the genius wrestler we know she can be. Oonishi isn’t quite there yet in popularity, but she’s still putting in good performances - nearly up at Kass’ level in this match, which she just shouldn’t be. Otherwise Birds of Prey is a team with a push but no real storyline, while the Dogs of War are the opposite. There’s a storyline, but it is one of losing.

Main Event: <s>Chitose Ariwara</s>
Cherry Bomb
vs Paige Croft

Ah, I admit. I really enjoyed pulling this switcharoo. It had story purpose, but it also had booking purpose. It just so happens that before Contender Series when this diary started, Chitose and Paige went a match for the world title (where Paige retained). Then they met in the group stage of Contender Series, and at Scars and Stripes August. This fourth match in a relatively short period of time triggered the warning about repetitive booking, so this became the solution. Paige is *almost* always my best performer every night, so it will be hard to keep her down for long, but it’s a creative challenge I look forward to.

Bonus questions:

How many titles change hands: Here I wish I had consulted a lawyer before I posted this question. If a title is vacated, has it changed hands? I can see an argument both ways. Fortunately, everybody guessed the same, so it doesn’t matter if I say the correct answer is zero or one. Let’s say it’s zero, everybody wins.
:)

A former SWF is introduced, who? Nobody guessed Hannah Potter. With 82 pop all over North America and excellent entertainment skills, she should be an excellent addition to the roster.

Tie breaker:
The attendance was 8,529

The score:

Theheel: 6/8 (tie breaker 8,237)

kingjames: 6/8 (tie breaker 8,100)

DarEatWorld: 5/8

MrWolf101: 5/8

Theheel wins on the tie breaker, congratulations! I was surprised by the attendance, but our popularity is steadily growing, which I guess still is more important than the falling economy and wrestling industry. The prize is to select a highlight interview. You already have one outstanding, but I’ll add your choice this week to the back of the queue. Your previous choice should be going up this week unless work gets in the way. It’s next among serious interludes, at least.

This puts Theheel and kingjames at one win each in the September contest. A significant decision regarding the upcoming Queen of the Ring tournament is the reward for the end of month reward.

Held at Palacio de Lucha (Northern Mexico)

Dark Match:
Gemmei Oonishi and The New Wave vs Brooke Tyler, Anderson & Snyder

Opening Match:
Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Maribel Mercado

Match 2:
Higa vs Queen Amazon vs Paige Croft vs Killer Kass, 4-way Elimination Match Queen of the Ring Qualifier

Match 3:
Chitose Ariwara & Foxxy LaRue vs The Untouchables for a shot at the vacant tag team titles

Match 4:
Águila Azul Celeste, Juana Huracán & Teresa Perez vs Ronin 3 for the Shockwave Tag Team Titles under Lucha rules.

Match 5:
Pamela Rojo vs Capitano for the Shockwave Title

Main Event:
Cherry Bomb vs Purple Viper Queen of the Ring Qualifier

Bonus Questions:

- Which is the match of the night?

- One match ends in a DQ finish. Which, and why (1 point for correct match, 1 point for an approximately correct reason)

Tie breaker:
What is the event rating? (First time in Northern Mexico).

The line of highlight interviews is growing, so I’ll hold off on that as a prize this week. Instead, I’ll let the winner choose the next challenger (and possibly champion) for the Shockwave Title, although about a month into the future.

</blockquote></div>

Thea Davis vs Brooke Tyler

Brooke's getting the monster push, while Thea continues to bide her time.

Yeah, you’re not far off. Thea is doing nothing wrong, but someone has to be the jobber, too. Until something changes, her wins are going to be few and far between, I’m afraid.

Juana Huracán vs Maribel Mercado

Hmmm! Interesting to see this as a dark match. This one could really go either way, or to a draw. I'm going to go with Juana but Maribel could have this just as easy.

Good catch. It really was a too good match to have on the pre-show, with two wrestlers that by all accounts are ‘ready’. I know Maribel is fairly popular, but Juana is a borderline main eventer without a storyline who can carry anyone to a good match.

Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Laura Flame

Arihyoshi's come close a few times with Brayfield helping her out (even if she doesn't like it). I think this time Brayfield helps her out and Etsuko gets the win. Question is, how will she react?

I wonder if Etsuko watch replays of her own matches? Even if not, she got to have strong suspicions of what’s happening when she’s not watching.

Águila Azul Celeste vs Charity Sweet

Blue sky eagle! This is the perfect opponent for Águila's debut, but I can't see Charity losing this, even with the spillover popularity gains Águila likely has.

Completely right. Águila Azul Celeste has a tiny amount of popularity in the mid South, but she’s still so far behind that she will have to work her way up the card bit by bit before she can make some real impact.

Claire Winters vs Selena Svelte

Damn, if this really is a loser leaves town situation, it's really hard for me to pick. Money isn't an issue and I don't think either wrestler is a good or bad influence backstage. This is probably my bias for Winters showing, but I feel like she has a better chance at succeeding in QAW's product than Svelte. That said, I could totally see Selina winning, so this is really a toss up.

Selina has simply not worked out with the QAW product. She had the worst performance on the entire card this week, in a submission based match. Since my roster is already way too big and I want to have room to bring in the occasional new name, I found her expendable.

Damn, the stakes here couldn't be higher. Winters is capable of great things - DPW has shown that. Svelte's ceiling may be lower. However, Svelte should have ridiculous tag experience with Talia Quinzel, who appears to be getting a push. I'm going with Winters based on pure potential, but Svelte makes sense as a winner, too.

I think everybody agreed who would win this, but I’m glad it wasn’t completely obvious. It’s true that the Uprising is a tag team with more experience, but Talia and Claire has great chemistry together, so I think that weighs up the lack of experience. And since the Untouchables is my own creation, I guess I have more affinity for them?

Birds of Prey vs the Dogs of War

There's no way the Dogs can lose three in a row...can they? I think they take this one, but the strain between the Dogs continues to grow. If they don't take this one, I would see a breakup happening much faster.

Mhm.
:D

<s>Chitose Ariwara</s> Cherry Bomb vs Paige Croft

Wow, how hardcore it would be to have Chitose drop the belt here (it looks like DQ or Countout is out of the question). My guess is that interference will come into play against Paige, and we could be seeing some kind of double switch between Croft and her attacker (I must admit, for all her heel-like behavior, I can't help but root for Paige).

There are always some shenanigans with cage matches right?
:D

You know, if all my predictions come to pass, it will be a sad day for DarEatWorld the QAW fan. Selina gone and Paige and Maribel both losing...

I’m so sorry. After rain comes sunshine?
:o

<p>Ah, I hope Christy's injury is just kayfabe! But I'm guessing you wouldn't put her out for a year unless it was for real or she was being released. Perez is starting to get that snake-bit vibe that makes me want to root for her even more (funny thing is in a different playthrough I got the 'Future Star' message for her, so hopefully that's her destiny roll in your universe).</p><p> </p><p>

The twist in the Cage match was definitely surprising, but I'll admit I was rooting for Paige to win against Cherry. I do love the way you are presenting Cherry as a bad ass veteran, but it will be interesting to see how Chitose reacts to being denied her spot in the main event.</p><p> </p><p>

Hannah Potter is a surprise (SWF has so many female managers it's honestly hard to keep track) but I like the story she's been given (adventurer gimmick?) and that popularity level is crazy.</p><p> </p><p>

Also surprised at Kass' poor performances, but maybe she just doesn't give her all when she's booked to lose? I know the game can't simulate that, but it'd be an interesting thing to give her backstage persona. Could it be a loss of momentum?</p><p> </p><p>

Sad to see Selina go, but QAW is too stacked to keep around any weak links.</p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match: Gemmei Oonishi and The New Wave vs <strong>Brooke Tyler, Anderson & Snyder</strong></p><p>

<em>I went back and forth on this one, but Gemmei can lose without being hurt too much since this is in Mexico, and I think Brooke's push needs this more.</em></p><p>

Opening Match: <strong>Etsuko Arihyoshi</strong> vs Maribel Mercado</p><p>

<em>Weellll, Maribel should be much more over here, but Etsuko got a big win (depsite the circumstances) last time. Picking Maribel's matches appears to be my new Achilles heel, so I'll go against my instincts on this one.</em></p><p>

Match 2: <strong>Higa</strong> vs Queen Amazon vs Paige Croft vs Killer Kass, 4-way Elimination Match Queen of the Ring Qualifier</p><p>

<em>Wow! Only won I'm pretty sure won't win is Queen Amazon (though she should be super over here and I think would be a really good fit for QAW). How many can Paige lose in a row? Does it matter in Mexico? Kass is on a losing streak too, but I'll go with Higa, as I feel like the tournament could do more for her than Kass or Paige.</em></p><p>

Match 3: Chitose Ariwara & Foxxy LaRue vs <strong>The Untouchables</strong> for a shot at the vacant tag team titles</p><p>

<em>Hard to pick against Chitose and Foxxy here, but at the same time, it feels like the Untouchables are a better fit for the tag titles. I'll go with the team with the name, and maybe some friction between Ariwara and LaRue.</em></p><p>

Match 4: <strong>Águila Azul Celeste, Juana Huracán & Teresa Perez</strong> vs Ronin 3 for the Shockwave Tag Team Titles under Lucha rules.</p><p>

<em>I changed my pick here three times. Being in Mexico, Ronin 3 can absorb the loss more than if this was in the US, and well, I can't help but root for Perez. Couldn't hurt to give Huracán a nice win after her good performances either. </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Match 5: <strong>Pamela Rojo</strong> vs Capitano for the Shockwave Title</p><p>

<em>As I say below, I think this might be by DQ. Maybe Kass gets so mad by her loss in the four-way match that she takes it out on Rojo, just when Capitano had a shot at winning.</em></p><p>

Main Event:<strong>Cherry Bomb</strong> vs Purple Viper Queen of the Ring Qualifier</p><p>

<em>Being in Mexico means a loss wouldn't hurt Cherry too much, but I can't see the tournament happening without her in it. That said, maybe Paige costs her this match, but I'll go with the straight ahead booking and keep my fingers crossed.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

- Which is the match of the night? I'll go out on a limb and say <strong>Higa vs Queen Amazon vs Paige Croft vs Killer Kass</strong> (I really should pick a tag match but oh well)</p><p>

- One match ends in a DQ finish. Which, and why (1 point for correct match, 1 point for an approximately correct reason): Main Event is a tempting choice, but I'll say <strong>Rojo vs Capitano</strong> when <strong>Kass destroys Rojo</strong>, leading to more tension among the Dogs of War</p><p> </p><p>

Tie breaker: What is the event rating? (First time in Northern Mexico). Shot in the dark, let's go <strong>60</strong> (advantage of perf = pop product <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />).</p>

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy Barton:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> ...and with those shoutouts to our sponsors, it’s time to dive into our superstar highlight interview. This week, we welcome the one that walked away from American Sweethearts and into the main event scene. Graduate of the Cat’s Lair and multiple title holder in AAA. She is the leader of the the Untouchables, Talia Quinzel.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia Quinzel: </strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">You’re trying to ingratiate yourself to me. It’s not winning you any plus points. Just so you know.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Unintentional, I swear. I want our listeners to know of your accomplishments, that is all.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Well, I don’t care what they think of my accomplishments. They think they are “smart” fans, but they are all just buying into the media narrative. The same narrative that the corporation is selling you. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Is that why you left American Sweethearts?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Not exactly, but it certainly played into it. It’s a hypocritical organization furthering the narrative of said corporate masters. At the time, I was willing to buy into it to further my career. Not honorable, but the ends justify the means. When I realized it was an old girls club with a bunch of talentless veterans holding each other around the back all the while holding the young and hungry down, it was time to get out.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Do you hold a grudge against their members still?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I wouldn’t lie to you and say I like them. My “grudge” is with the club itself. The day nobody wears their merchandize anymore out of shame to be associated with them is the day I have won.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/vzm4Q0V.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You and Claire Winters certainly have made a name of yourselves since then, calling yourselves the Untouchables. What do you put into that name? </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I think it’s obvious. We don’t play by their rules, won’t align ourselves with the established factions. We don’t recognize hierarchies, only strength and talent. That doesn’t make us popular, but again, we don’t care. We are paria, and in a way, we are proud of that. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/2QUyjcm.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div></div><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Just this week, two of your allies, Claire Winters and Selina Svelte - whom you have won championships with in AAA - went a grueling Loser Leave Town match, with Selina drawing the short straw. You didn’t get involved. Couldn’t you have averted that?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Maybe, but why? Again, we are NOT going to become a stable wrestlers aspire to join to further their careers. The moment infighting start, it’s down to them to decide if they can co-exist or not. Claire and Selina are adults. Nothing would become better from me meddling. The stronger is with me, the weaker is gone. I have nothing against Selina, but I rather tell people to piss off than lead them on the way American Sweethearts did with me and Claire.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Well, I’m not going to argue how you do things. If we look forward instead, what is in your sights?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I don’t like limit myself by setting low goals, but very short term, I think it’s reasonable to think we could challenge for the tag team titles, and after being snubbed for the Contender Series, there is no way I’m missing out on the Queen of the Ring tournament as well. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Let’s go through some of the form questions we ask everyone in these interviews. What’s the best match you’ve been in, to date? </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/koWhAJc.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/W9znUzz.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/SrJMR1G.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Are you doing this to piss me off? The most recognized matches I’ve been in are two tag team matches, both which I lost. I paired with Zoe Amiss against the Princesses of Pain and had to tap out. Then with Claire we challenged the Dogs of War for the tag team titles, and lost. Individually though, I rate my win over Foxxy LaRue highly. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Who do you like to wrestle? Favorite opponents.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I don’t have favorite opponents. Who has that? I like winning, but there is no particular satisfaction in beating easy opponents. I have a favorite partner in Claire. That is it.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Ok… Does that mean you don’t have any dream matches, opponents on the bucket list you would like to face?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/xYuulxj.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> That’s different. That’s ambition. Of course I have them. I’d like to face Capitano some time. I have unresolved issues with Higa. I have respect for Paige Croft as a wrestler even if she chose to sit in the lap of QAW’s corporate overlords. And of course, the World champion Chitose Ariwara has something I want, and incidentally, we have never met one on one.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Just one more thing that occurred to me. Your finisher, the Spinal Trauma. It might be the scariest move in wrestling today. As far as I can tell, QAW has banned all spinal impact moves, and yet here you are, using that move. How do you get away with that?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Well, I guess I’m just that special, ain’t I? Really, it’s not that strange, is it? It’s a backbreaker, not a piledriver. These are the rules of QAW. You can break someone’s back, but you’re not allowed to compress their spinal column. I didn’t make the rules, I just follow them. Well, when the referee is watching at least.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> That leads me to wonder, do you think that your willingness to cheat take away from your accomplishments?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> You know, I don’t like the tone of that question. The fact that you are asking the question suggest you’re judging the way I wrestle. Let me ask you this. Why are there ropes around a wrestling ring?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Er...I mean, there just are. They delineate the edge of the area you’re supposed to wrestle in.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> But you can be outside them. What else are they?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I don’t know...I guess they are a tool and an obstacle to use to your benefit.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> And some, “high flyers”, are better to use them than others?</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Sure. But I’m not sure what you’re getting at.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The referee is the same thing! She is an obstacle and a tool that you with skill and intelligence can use to your advantage to defeat your opponent. And someone who doesn’t use the tool is limiting herself the same way someone would if they decided that bouncing off the ropes would be against the spirit of wrestling. I don’t judge people who play by their own rules, but plenty of people want to judge me for playing the game it is set up. If they didn’t like how I wrestled they should introduce video reviews.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I am *sure* there is a flaw in that argument somewhere, but I’m feeling a headache coming on. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I’m practically obligated to say something snide now about not straining a muscle you rarely use, but instead, I’m sure you’ll see the truth of what I’m saying if you take your time and think about it a bit. </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Billy:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Right… I thank you for that, and I think this is a good place to end the interview.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Talia:</strong></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Well, I hope you got what you wanted. I’m sure countless people will take my words the wrong way, as usual.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<hr></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Thanks to Theheel who chose Talia Quinzel for the highlight interview. As usual, it’s an exercise I find I get a lot out of. Even if Talia has been the main actor in a big storyline, really dissecting her motivations, her way of thinking is really helpful when trying to understand where they should be going next. </em></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div>
