Movie Tycoon 5

Up to you. But if you do a mix you'll want Hollywood folks with really low star ratings to keep the price down. The best advice I can give you is to make your movie based on things that grab you and don't be afraid to follow any source of inspiration. The relationship dynamics in my movie, Half Gainer, were born from things that happened while I was playing Sims 2. The Taste Maker was a serial killer with my general entertainment sensibilities. Just turned up and exaggerated to violent levels. Search For the Sun is based on a Chinese hero myth while Racing Hearts was based on the Greek story of Atalanta because I'm a sucker for mythology. Find what inspires you and make your films from that. Russel just showed us all what happens in this game if you try to make a movie you don't believe in.

I'm very honored to be an example for what not to do in Movie Tycoon.

Update: The Crow: Resurrection is moving along quite smoothly. I've got a basic story down pat and I think it might be end up being a winner. My big goal is that this ends up becoming a blockbuster movie, but anything resembling a profit will be well deserved.

Need to do a couple bits of business with my flick.

First off, I'm getting close to the love scenes in my write-up and I just realized I never told Milo Ventimiglia we'd be wanting full nudity from him.

Also I want to add a minor role. The character of David McMahon, Ed's boss. He'll be in just the one scene chewing Ed out after things appear to go pear-shaped between Ed and Andrea.

For the part of Mr. McMahon, I'd like to talk to Peter Scolari and Matt Ashford.

This. ALL of this. For god's sake, I got the idea for a band called The Karate Kids when "You're the Best Around" came on my iPhone one morning. That served as the genesis for "The Reunion Tour." I WISH I was kidding.

Half Gainer (Studio: Amalgamated Artists)

» (for the role of David McMahon) Peter Scolari asks for $50K. Matt Ashford asks for $50K.

I am surely interested in Fantasy worlds and Superheroes. One of my dream movies in my pipeline is based on "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" but I think I first need to impress the Marvel Studios to get their license.

@Andrew If action is your thing maybe you can go 007 route or build DC a good cinematic universe. You absolutely have the resources to do it. Or a movie on Vince McMahon.

MOVIE DETAILS

Title: Crash and Burn

Genre: Action

Duration: 2 hours 10 minutes

Rating: 15

We begin the movie with James Major (Benedict Cumberbatch) in his car driving with some music playing in the background. We then cut forward to him entering a building with a briefcase in his hands and the music fades as we see him enter a room full of men and women in suits. He gives a five minute speech about his newest invention, his million dollar idea: The Major. He talks about how this device can hack into any computer or any device in the world. He seems to have his audience interested but when he tries to show them how it works nothing happens and as he keeps trying to get it to work he gets more and more frustrated before an old lady stands up and says "James, I think it's time for you to go".

We then see James entering his apartment and slamming the door behind him before sitting on a stool in his tiny kitchen with his head in his hands. However he quickly stands up, launches the stool at the wall and breaking it; we fade into the title and subsequent opening credits.

5 months later

We return and see the door of Major's apartment but we see a younger, Asian man with jet black, combed over hair and dressed in a plain red shirt and jeans approach the door and knock. He waits a while but soon the door is answered by Major but he has much longer, messy hair and his beard is longer and messy as he invites this man into the house. We recognize this as his friend Tyler Jones (Steven Yeun) or TJ as James refers to him as. They walk into the living room where Major tells TJ to sit down on the sofa while he sits down on the stool we saw him break earlier which he has fixed (poorly). The two are making small talk when Major brings up that he has something to show him and that he shouldn't move. Major walks off into another room while TJ sits their but then he looks at the table in front of him and he sees a bunch of letters on the table about late payments for rent as well as a letter about an unpaid parking fine. Most interestingly as he goes through this, he finds an unopened letter at the bottom addressed to James Major from the U.s Government. Before TJ gets a chance to look at this, Major re-enters the room carrying a box and a laptop which he places on the table and on top of all the letters but he fails to notice that TJ slips the unopened letter into his pocket. "TJ, this is the culmination of my life's work and this will mean we never have to work again. I present to you The Major 2.0. This can hack into anything, anywhere, anytime and it can do whatever you want it to do so TJ what do you wanna do?". He smiles at his best friend who looks dumbfounded before saying "You should start by paying off your debts. It's clear you've gone through a lot to make this: You're starved, you look like you've been lost on an island for months and you have more debts than I have fingers so maybe before you go mad with this you should focus on not losing your apartment and not getting arrested. Sound good?". Major just looks at him for a minute before he laughs and nods his head and then he loads up the laptop, removes a small device carefully from the box and plugs it into his computer. Within a few minutes he has everything up ready and he says "I can remove anything from this bank, from 20 dollars to 100 million dollars and they wouldn't know it was me; well for now they wouldn't. Anyway we do this we're criminals whether they know it was us or not so you sure you want to do this?".

"Oh I'm sure as long as you just take enough to pay your debts and a bit to hold you over because I don't know about you but I've got work in 3 hours and I don't want to get arrested before I get paid". We then see Major spend some time on his computer before looking up and saying "It's done," as TJ laughs along with him "I've just took a couple thousand dollars but that it just a small amount of what this can do."

They mess around with this for two more hours but when we come back we see TJ saying goodbye before leaving the house; letter still in his pocket. We cut forward a few more hours once again to where he is working in a restaurant as a waiter but after delivering a meal to a customer, he leans up against a wall and pulls the letter out of his pocket and opens it for the first time. He quietly reads it out loud:

"Dear Mr Major,

We have recently been informed that you have been developing a device which can hack into any device in the world. This is a cease and desist letter to inform you that if you use this device then it will be seen as a weapon that is a danger to the government and if it falls into the wrong hands then it could be fatal and could result in a world war. If you use this device even once then we must take action. This is an official warning Mr major; do not cross the government because you won't win."

TJ quickly stuffs the letter into his pocket before going to a locker, unlocking it and grabbing his phone. He tried calling James but he does not pick up so instead he calls someone else "Hey Alexa it's me TJ. I need you to come and pick me up right now. I know you may be busy but this is urgent, like real urgent. James has got himself in deep s**t and I need to check on him. You'll be 5 minutes? Great I'll see you there."

He quickly changes out of his work uniform and into the same clothes from earlier that day and began to leave the restaurant when he heard someone call him back. "TJ, Where the hell do you think you're going? You're not due to finish for another 5 hours and if you leave now then you won't ever come back through them doors, you hear me kid?"

"Oh I hear you." He goes to leave but the man grabs his arm and tries to pull him back "I didn't want to do this," before spinning around a punching his boss straight in the face, sending him falling back and busting his nose open and as he walked away he muttered "A**hole" before walking out the doors.

He got outside and walked down some steps to where a Red Dodge Dart was parked and he quickly entered. In the drivers seat was a stunning, brown haired women who is revealed to be Alexa Banks (Alexandra Daddario), the girlfriend of TJ and the two kiss as he enters the car but he quickly turns his attention to getting to his friend. They start to drive when Banks says "You know I don't like James, TJ, he's a low life who's always chasing something that he's never going to get and one day he's going to drag you into something that will mess up both your lives. Hell, by the urgency of the call he already has because you're on the literal edge of your seat, you're finger nails are almost gone from you biting them out of nervousness and you haven't said a word in the 5 minutes you've been in the car. So what's he done Tyler? Is he in jail with his addict friend? He lost his apartment because he has no job and no money?..."

"JUST STOP Damnit! You talk about how I haven't spoke in 5 minutes well you haven't given me a damn chance to yet. So you want to know what's going on? James has made a device that can hack into anything in the world and now someone in the government wants him dead because of it and he knows nothing about it so we need to get to his house as soon as possible and warn him. Hell with your constant complaining we may be too late and I may have lost my best friend in the world. So please I'm begging you, just get us their as fast as you can".

We then cut forward to where they're just a few streets away from his apartment complex and in the distance we can see smoke rising from his general direction and a fire truck goes tearing past them and turns onto his street. They try to enter the street but are stopped by police who tell them they can't because there's been a fire but TJ goes under the rope and runs forward. "Holy S**t." He crumples to his knees when he sees that the apartment complex is on fire and more specifically he can see through the window that Major's apartment is on fire and has a smashed window where a Molotov has been thrown through. A police officer approaches him and says "Kid, if your friend or family were in their then they must have gotten out because luckily their have been no casualties. A few people have suffered burns and many are shaken up so if you want to find them then I recommend going to the hospital."

TJ slowly gets to his feet and walks back towards the car where he falls into the arms of Alexa and just holds her. He gets back into the car where Alexa says "So we headin' to the hospital?"

TJ looks up, tears in his eyes but a look of anger upon his face, and says "No I know where we're going" and he says something we can't hear as they begin to drive off once again.

Meanwhile, we see a man with short, black hair and a dirty white top as well as some jeans with holes in them sitting slumped down in an armchair, surrounded by beer cans and bottles and the mess of the many takeaways he'd had over the past weeks. This man is Curt Morgan (Colin Morgan) who is the friend of Major who had received a large inheritance off his parents when they died in a car crash when he was just 19 but due to this experience it led him to drugs, alcohol and a closeted life with very few friends and no job. Here 6 years later he is a mess, his inheritance has run out and still no job means he has only one true friend in James Major. Speaking of which he hears a knock on the door and opens the door to see Major standing at his door and he invites him in. Major quickly moves over to thee window, looks outside and closes the curtains before saying "I need your help…"

Before he can finish there is another knock on the door and before James can stop him, Curt strolls over to the door and opens it and TJ bursts into the room with Alexa trailing behind. Immediately TJ sees Major and grabs him into a hug before letting him go and apologizing for not getting to him quicker. "TJ, dude it's ok. I heard on the news what happened but luckily I'd already left and was on my way here. I must have left just two minutes before it happened."

Curt stopped trying to hide the mess his room was in and said "What's going on James?"

"You know what I told you about, this device that can hack anything? Well it seems someone wants this from me because they just tried to kill me and burn my apartment down"

"It's the government dude. You had a letter on your table back at your house, I took it and the government said that if you ever used it then they would have to take action. So it seems when you said no one could tell it was you, that you must have made a mistake." TJ said while looking at his feet nervously.

Alexa walked up to Major, looked him up and down and slapped him before walking back over to TJ and slapping him as well. "You know what? I've always told James that you're a bad friend and now look what you've done James. You've got yourself into shit with the government and now you've dragged TJ into it and also it seems myself and Curt have been dragged into this mess that you created for your own personal gain"

"Look, I was just going to sell this to some big company once I got bored anyway so you know maybe I did make it for my personal gain but right now we have a bigger problem. We have the government on our backs and I'll need all your help. This guy that I have decided to sell to is a collector and he promises that he doesn't want it for his gain. Look I know it doesn't sound good but I'm going to need all of your help to get this to him. Only problem is it's days away and I need all of your help to get there."

"Hey James, you know I'm in" Said TJ looking up for the first time since entering the room

"This is insane dude. But hell I've got nothing better to do so yeah I'm in" replied Curt.

"You are a mad man. It's no hidden secret that I dislike you but if anything happens to you then it'll kill TJ and although I don't show it sometimes, he is my life. so yeah I'm in"

The next day

We cut to the next day when they're in the car with Alexa driving down the freeway. The three men are in the back talking and making jokes while Alexa just looks annoyed. They keep on driving but as they pull off to get fuel, James realizes that one of their tires is flat and their going to need to change it. TJ volunteers to change it but halfway through doing so another car pulls up next to him and out steps a man with blonde hair wearing a suit and sunglasses. He removes the sunglasses and steps up to TJ and says "Hello there Mr. Jones. My name is Cain (Boyd Holbrook) and I have reason to believe that you are travelling a wanted criminal, does the name James Major mean anything to you?"

"Of course it does, he's my best friend."

"So Mr. Jones, is said best friend travelling with you today?"

"No he's not. It's just me and my girlfriend Alexa today. We're going away for the weekend."

"If it's just you and your girlfriend then why are their four different jackets in the car"

"Well you see…"

He is cut off by James hitting Cain across the back of the head with a fire extinguisher, knocking him out cold. He shouts for Alexa and Curt to come quickly and as soon as TJ has changed the tire they jump in the car and drive away. We see them distantly driving away as we focus on Cain out cold on the concrete with his smashed sunglasses just inches away from his face.

We return to the car where James tells Alexa to pull off at the next turn and they enter a large town and once they've stopped, Major brings them into a car dealership. He says under his breath to TJ "He knows what car you have now. And we're going to need something faster". He approaches the desk where he asks for the fastest car they do and if he is able to get it with no insurance and instantly then he'll pay much extra. The dealer is cautious at first but when hearing about the amount he was willing to pay then he quickly gave them the keys to a Maserati Quattroporte*and with the help of The Major 2.0 he was able to transport a very generous amount of money from the bank to this man and they left just as quickly as they came.

This time with Major driving, they set off down the freeway again. We cut back to the gas station from earlier where Cain is being woken up by and elderly woman who has helped him off the road and onto the path. However as he reaches his feet, he pushes her away and immediately grabs his phone. He says "Hey it's Cain. There's four of them as we suspected: Alexa Banks, Tyler Jones and Curt Morgan are all accomplices of James Major. Yeah I'm going to need your help."

We then cut to a few hours later when we see him talking to someone who we can't say. He says "You know what you have to do. Any chance you get you take them out and we take this thing like we agreed right? As far as they know we're still going to give this to the government so we get this and we're free dude. 50/50 like we agreed. Let's do this"

We return to Major in the car. Alexa says "It's getting late we need to find somewhere to stay. I don't know about you but I'll feel a little safer not in a mainstream hotel so I packed us a tent and according to my GPS their should be a small, secluded campsite near here in the woods."

They pull off into the woods and while Major and Morgan set up the tent, TJ and Alexa go looking for firewood for the campfire. The two look in silence for a while before TJ Says "He's not a bad guy you know?"

"Sorry?"

"James. He didn't want to be in this mess, he just had a million dollar idea and this drove him to do some pretty mad things. This guy had a tough upbringing of poverty and negligence so can you blame him for wanting a better life for him and his friends?" The two sit down with their backs up against a tree .

"James' father was an alcoholic. An unemployed worthless drunk who was an abusive husband and an abusive father. His alcoholism would be his demise however when at the age of 12, James came home to find his father dead on the sofa. The b*****d had got drunk, passed out and choked on his own vomit leaving his mother a widow and James without a father. His mother was a loving woman, one of the nicest I know but she had two jobs with little income and this meant James spent his nights with an empty stomach and his days alone. So he started to look for a way out, whatever way he could to make his life and his mothers life better long-term. However, when James was 15 his mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and had to give up her two jobs because she couldn't cope anymore. James, this kid with unlimited potential, had to drop out of school and get work so he could afford to feed himself and his other all the while trying to keep her well but it just took such a strain on him and their was just two people their for him. Myself and Curt. So every time you complain about Curt being an alcoholic, a drugged-up mess and a waste to be around just remember this guy helped save the life of James and now James wanted to repay that debt by helping turn Curt's life around. Curt lost his parents when he was 18 in a car crash and this turned him to the alcoholism, to the drugs and to the secluded life that he has led since and he refused to even see anyone but James after that. James persisted to visit his friend for years on the best and worst days because he didn't want anyone to suffer what his father went through. He saw James slipping and sliding and ever since he wanted to stop a repeat of his father who died because of his alcoholism so he wants to prevent that for a second time. So you can hate James all you want, you can hate Curt all you want but they need each other and James needs this to turn the life of his best friend around like Curt did with his. Please just try to remember that"

The two finish collecting wood and then head back to the tent where James and Curt are finished setting up the tent and have got the fire going and are cooking some beans for them to eat.

Alexa looks at TJ before saying "Hey James. I think I've been a bit harsh towards you. Yeah you've made a mistake and it's a hell of a mistake but we mistakes and we all have to deal with the consequences. So here we sit, four of us dealing with the consequences and if that means we get hurt or hell we even die then so be it because you tried to do good and you've had good intentions. I've always thought you were just doing this out of greed and selfishness that you just wanted power and that you were a madman for doing this but after speaking with Tyler I've come to realize that I was mistaken and actually you just want to do this to have a normal life and for your friends to have better lives. So whether you accept my apology or not I just wanted you to know this before we head into whatever we head into tomorrow"

She goes to walk away but before she does James jumps up to his feet and gives her a hug. "Thank you" is all he can say before Curt tells everyone that the food is ready and everyone gets their first thing to eat since being on the run.

A couple of hours later and Alexa and Curt have retired to their respective rooms in the tent while TJ and James are on watch. TJ had gone into his bag and pulled out two beer bottles and the two were relaxing by the fire just talking and drinking. James says "I have so much to thank you for dude. From the age of 12 we've been best friends and you've stuck through with me through all the s**t, including this and you could have easily listened to Alexa and realized I'm not as great as you value me but you didn't, you managed to change her mind completely and it no longer feels like I'm going with someone who hates me, I'm going with someone who I could consider a friend and that's because of you man."

"Dude just don't sweat it ok. I did this because you're my friend just like Curt is and just like Alexa is. We're here for you just like you're here for every single one of us. How are things with Curt?"

"He's better. He hasn't had anything to drink lately and I haven't noticed any weed yet so maybe he's changing without my help"

"He needs you and you need him."

"What do you mean?"

"Come on. I've seen the way you look at him and how he looks at you, you can't keep denying yourself that you do love him."

"Maybe I do TJ but I can't. I've put you all through this pain and if I'm with him or anyone else then I'm just going to cause them pain. I've never had a good example of someone in love and that makes me worry what if I hurt him and he doesn't come back? What if I mess it up TJ? Look at you and Alexa, you're like the perfect couple. You love each other, you can talk to each other and you don't create things which put your life and your friends lives at risk. I can't have what you two have and it's not because I'm gay, it's because I'm dangerous. So yeah I do love him, he's great and he's been there for me all along and I want to be their for him but I know that I can't do that, I'm sorry TJ." He looks at TJ with tears running down his face and he says "We're running low on firewood. I better go get some more…" and he walks off into the woods with a flashlight. Before we cut, we see him walking away but we also see inside the tent where we see that throughout that whole conversation Curt was awake and listening to everything that he said.

Later on that night James had gone to sleep in the tent leaving TJ on lone watch but he had fallen asleep up against the tree. He was woke up with a massive kick to the gut, winding him and leaving him dazed and confused. He looked up with watery eyes and saw a 7 foot tall man (Big Show) towering over his limp body. He then looks around as Cain kneels down in front of him, smiling and says "Hello again friend. It's so great to see you here. It's such a coincidence that we were just passing through and we come across each other again, I must say it's great to see you again," The sarcasm dripped from his mouth as he continued to grin down at TJ "My friend and I are still looking for this friend of yours, you know the one that knocked me out and has created a device which could ultimately cause World War 3 say if it were to fall into the wrong hands of oh I dunno, North Korea? Russia? IS? If one of these were to get a control of this then it could be fatal. So you won't mind if I look through your tent, you know just to make sure you're not harboring any criminals around with you." He walks past TJ and Tyler is stopped from getting up by the giant who towers over him with a sick grin on his face. Cain strides over to the tent full of confidence and throws open the door to the main room. He enters and looks in the first room, which much to his surprise is empty and then he strolls over to the 2nd room which once again is empty bar an empty pack of cigarettes. Now angry and confused he rips open the 3rd room and is met with a loud, feminine scream and he moves out quickly as he is just walked in on Alexa getting changed. He quickly exits the tent and says "Right, I'm sick of your s**t now kid. Where the hell is James Major?"

"Right here!" says a voice to his right and he looks over and Major has a gun to the back of the head of the giant "You move and I'll blow his brains out, right here, right now".

"Kid put the god damn gun down. All we want is the device and you can go free, you give us that you can but if you kill him you'll be wanted forever for murder." This causes Major to hesitate and this slight hesitation allows The Giant to swing his arm around send Major flying back into a nearby tree, knocking him out and breaking a rib.

"Well, that was unnecessary wasn't it. Look at you, you're a mess all three of you. One of you is knocked out, one of you is still on the floor crying and pretty little Alexa is alone inside that tent. Where's Curt then TJ? Is he hiding as well? Is he going to shoot me and you're all going to run off into the rainbows and the sunset, free as whistle? That waste of space is probably off drinking his life away and injecting himself with whatever he can find to hide himself from the S****Y life that he leads and the waste of space people he calls his friends. You know what TJ, I said you can all go free but I was lying. We're going to take this device and use it for our own gain and there is nothing you can do about it. And then Tyler one by one we're going to hang you from that tree except from of course your little Lexi. She's going to come with me and she is going to be mine…"

It looks like TJ was about to jump up to his feet and challenge Cain but he was cut off by The Giant getting hit with a van which sends him flying across the ground. The door opens and standing there is Curt with two M4's he throws one to TJ who catches it and aims it right at Cain but before he can shoot, Alexa smacks Cain across the back of the head with a fire extinguisher for the second time and once again knocks him out. Curt jumps out of the van and runs across to James, scoops him up and his arms and carries him into the van where he lays him on some blankets. They take one last glance at the two men out cold on the floor before driving off.

In the van, Alexa drove while TJ rode 'shotgun' and in the back Curt was checking on James. After a few minutes of driving, Major regained consciousness but could barely move because of his ringing head and his broken ribs.

"We need to get you to a hospital" Said Curt

"No, we need to keep going" croaked Major in response "I can survive".

"Right well let's see if I can find something in this van that can at least help". He begins to look around the back of the van

"Where did you get the van anyway?" Asked Alexa

"The two idiots may have been smart enough to find us but not smart enough to remove the keys from their van so I saw an opportunity to steal it. So me and James escaped through the back entrance and he caused a distraction while I found a way to get us out of here just as you saw it didn't go quite as we hoped. The guns are theirs as well so I recommend we keep these for now because they're going to try and shot us, we need something to fight back with. Ah, here I found some bandages, these may help" Curt then proceeded to wrap the bandages around the ribcage of Major and helped him sit up"

We come back much later to find that everyone but TJ is asleep as he drives them in the night. Alexa and Curt were asleep in the back of the van while Major had been awake in the front seat but tiredness had drawn him in and he was out as well. However he soon wakes up and notices that once again everyone else is asleep leaving him and TJ the last two awake. "We should make it there by tomorrow and then we sell this, buy our freedom and get these assholes off our backs forever. I know I sound like a broken record James but I saw you with Curt today and you two are perfect for each other. That guy risked his life to save you and proved that he will do anything to keep you alive. He likes you and you like him so I'm not going to pressurize you into it and following this I won't speak of it anymore but you should give it a try"

"I'll at least give it a try but I know it will go wrong. Anyway shouldn't you be focusing on you and Alexa"

"We're fine man, what are you talking about"

"Tomorrow is your 4 year anniversary and you're going to spend it on the run from two men who seem to be pretending to be government officials who want to kill us because of me. Does that not concern you?"

"Not really. We're spending the day together aren't we and it doesn't matter whether we are on the run on or sitting in a boring restaurant eating boring food and making boring small talk, we're still together. I don't deserve her though, she's stunning and amazing and I'm just me. You think she'll be mad when I tell her I lost my job, hit my boss and ran out halfway through my shift for you?"

"She won't be mad at you. How could she be mad at you? She is stunning but honestly you are the nicest and most caring guy that I've ever met. Anyone could have turned me away at the age of 16 when I turned up on your doorstep after my mother passed but you took me in and ever since you've looked to take care of me like a brother and Alexa loves you just as much as you love her so don't be so hard on yourself."

"Speaking of the anniversary, go into my coat pocket there's something I want you to see" James picks the coat up of the floor and pulls outa small box which he opens and sees that it's a wedding ring. "I figured that if we make it out of this tomorrow then I love her so much that I want to spend the rest of my life with her. So tomorrow we drop this off and we get the hell out of here, I propose and you try it with Curt. Sounds too perfect"

"Sure does, go for it. Anyway we've got a long road ahead, I'm going to get some more rest. Just wake up Alexa if you need someone to drive, I swear you haven't slept since we left home"

After James has closed his eyes, TJ whispers underneath his breath "I haven't". We once again then look into the back of the van where we see that once again Curt is awake and has been listening to the whole conversation. He smiles to himself before closing his eyes and going to sleep.

We come back next with TJ saying "Guys, you should get up now. We're almost there." They all wake up and start to prepare for whatever is to come. Curt grabs two pistols and hands them to Alexa and James whiel he gave an M4 to TJ. He says "I know you guys probably don't know how to shoot but this is just in case and if it's needed then just do what I'll show you now" He proceeds to show Alexa and James the basics of shooting without of course pulling the trigger. "We're here" Calls TJ over the back as they park up in an empty car park a lighthouse on the edge of a cliff. Below is a 100ft drop and the waves furiously smack the cliff. They park up the car but as they prepare to get out they are suddenly sent flying when an armored truck smacks into the side of their van sending it rolling across the car park. Luckily no one inside is majorly injured but it meant that Cain and The Giant had an immediate advantage as they bear down on the toppled car. Alexa, TJ and James crawl their way out of their car but immediately have to take cover behind the car as bullets rain down upon them. Alexa and Major try to fire back but it was to no avail as their inexperience with a gun showed. However when TJ tried he showed real skill and precision and was able to hit the right leg of The Giant who collapsed to the floor under the pain and this distracted Cain long enough for Curt to roll out of the back of the van and unleash shots upon Cain sending him retreating back behind their own vehicle. They were now at a stalemate with all of them behind their cars and Cain shouted "Time is money and it seems that you're out of both"

"Really because it seems like we outnumber you. There's 4 of us to 2 of you and your big guy is hurt so you should just give up already. Walk away while we let you" Replied Major which was met with laughs from both The Giant and Cain who just stood up a started firing at the car. They continue to fire but The Giant runs out of ammo, glances at Cain and starts to run out from cover and towards the upturned car but after he got halfway he was met with a precise shot to the head from Curt. He looks at Major before saying "Let's finish this like they started it" and he throws a molotov right to where Cain was hiding and the air was filled with the horrible sounds of him screaming as he burns alive and soon the air was filled with dead silence.

"Dude What the F**k was that? You didn't have to kill them let alone burn one of them alive."

"No I did. They've hunted us across the country and they weren't ever going to stop until they killed every single one of us. Yes burning him alive was too far, I can admit that, but now we find this 'Collector' and move on from this complete mess without being hunted down for the rest of our lives"

A few hours later

We come back and the fire has died down and all four are sitting on the grass; Alexa with TJ and James with Curt.

"Where's this collector then James?" Asked Curt

"I don't know. He said he would meet us here but he isn't here."

"Hopefully he's here soon then"

James gets to his feet and extends his hand to help Curt up. He glances at TJ who nods and then says "Look Curt there's something I want to tell…" He is cut off by Curt kissing him on the lips and quickly moves away but after realizing what happened kissed him back. He says "I love you"

"Well that's just a shame" Replied Curt who with his right hand grabs the pistol he was holding and shoots Alexa in the chest. Both TJ and Major look in shock after what just happened and TJ screams NO as Curt sinks a knife into the torso of James, reaches into his pocket and pulls out the small device. TJ grabs onto Alexa and tries to stop the bleeding but to no avail and Curt takes one last look at James before laughing and saying "I am the Collector" and he walks off with the device in hand leaving TJ holding a lifeless Alexa and James who blacks out from the pain and blood loss behind.

Our final scene shows a funeral and focuses on the coffin in the ground while the vicar talks about the amazing life this person had. We slowly pan up from the coffin to where we see TJ with tears in his eyes but someone grabs his hand and we pan up to see that it is Major. The Vicar continues to talk about the life of Alexa Banks and after it is finished our final visual is TJ moving the wedding ring around his hands with a look of revenge in his eyes.

Good job with your movie Kieran, it really sounds like a movie I could watch.

My only little critique is that you could probably work more with description rather than relying solely dialogue to move your scenes along. The style of your dialogue kind of give me the vibe of a wrestling promo, which while it works for this sort of movie may not work for other movies.

That being said, try to also find a happy balance between dialogue and description like what I have been doing for my movies here. For example, if a certain line is crucial to the plot, one of the character's funniest lines or simply to showcase the character's personality; you could use dialogue to your advantage.

Clearly, you have a grasp of plot and character. All that's left to work on is description and after that, I think you might have a solid future in this business. (There is the concern with the lack of production and marketing, but as shown with Trifecta and to a lesser extent Greenwater Amusements; this is not an absolute killer. You'll just have to hope that the magical dice goes easy on you.)

Hawkpro Inc. is a brand new studio looking to storm the front with their action filled Crash And Burn, a story about James Major (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), the inventor of a highly proprietary technological device that allows non-traceable monetary transfers to be made without any sort of authorization. Needless to say, interest in his brand new product is through the roof, so much so that he finds himself targeted by a couple of low-lifes who are looking to gain possession of the revolutionary device. The plot itself is extremely linear, absolutely the right way to proceed with an action flick. Not much time or space is left for 'non-sense', the scenes without combat are mostly filled with dramatic relationship stuff that add to the creeping urgency of the protagonists being hunted.

Since the beginning of time, the action genre has heavily depended on it's lead actor and this time is no different. Sadly, Benedict Cumberbatch underperforms in the complex role in a big way. Kenneth Branagh as the director seemed to harness that same energy as he did not put forth the sort of finesse one could usually expect from him. The real tragedy is Colin Morgan, who is atrocious as the protagonist turned antagonist. His scenes were cringe-worthy, the dramatic (twist) ending was practically ruined by his lack of delivery. Some of the slack is picked up by Steven Yeun, who clearly does well in the action genre as a whole.

The production budget to Crash And Burn was laughable, the overall feeling was that everything looked cheap from the costumes to the props to the sets, but most importantly the action scenes were ridiculous. Perhaps the studio should have went for a smaller name in a lead role in favor of spreading the budget more evenly. Nevertheless, Crash And Burn is good and the potential was there to be really great.
I'm feeling pretty confident about The Crow: Resurrected, I've put together a solid story with some really good characters here and I feel like i'm giving it my all here.

It's different writing for a franchise than making your own movie, with original movies; you're free to make it about whatever it is you want, no questions asked. With franchises however, you're given a list of guidelines you have to accomplish to ensure the film's success.

That being said, you are also helping to either continue a franchise or introduce a concept someone made to the movie going public, I think that's one of the reasons why I loved working on Big Nate: The Movie and Madeline's Great Adventure so much. I had a plan for the thing in question and I stuck with it.

With this one, i'm taking extra good care with. If anything goes wrong, it could be a disaster for our studio. I'm hopeful that you should be seeing something within the next week, but if not; well, at least you know why.

Lynch Him (Studio: Hot Freezy Studio)

» (for the role of Rajbir Singh) Vicky Kaushal asks for $670K. Sanjay Mishra asks for $650K.

» (for the role of Anthony Davis) Sharad Kelkar asks for $650K. John Abraham asks for $570K.

» (for the role of Nayeem Sethi) Saqib Saleem asks for $550K. Ayushman Khuranna asks for $800K.

[OOC: jack ryder, I recommend you start haggling :p Offering guaranteed future roles (lead or major) is the best way to drop the ask. You can also just low-ball them with an offer or ask them to take a cut of their wage after the release of your movie (these are less successful approaches though).]

First I want to offer them all 300k.

If they reject the 300k offer, second offer.

Sanjay Mishra - 300k + Supporting role is two upcoming movies.

Vicky Kaushal - 250k + Lead role in one future film.

Abraham - 300k + One supporting role.

Saqib Saleem - 300k + two supporting roles or one lead role.

Sharad Kelkar - 300k + two supporting roles.

Saulnier and Raghavan - 300k + One more film down the road.

Is dice involved in negotiation?

I don't wanna sound rude but as my home industry is Bollywood some things I wanted to say about some of the actors prices. Just wanted to tell you their position here nothing else.

Sanjay Mishra is a good actor but he is very cheap in the bollywood.

Sharad Kelkar is a TV actor who has done supporting roles in films for some years but I believe him to be half the price of Abraham. Last year only they both acted in a film called "Rocky Handome" in which John Abraham was the lead and Kelkar was a supporting role.

I love Madhavan. He is in the industry for years but he is no way a draw as Ranveer Singh. Ranveer Singh is poised as next superstar.

Prabhas is a mystery though. He is a star in two of of many regional industries( Tamil and Telugu) but he is riding on the success of Bahubali( India's Highest earner) so maybe he can demand that price.

Sorry, just trying to give you an idea about Bollywood.

[OOC: There is indeed a dice involvement in the negotiations. Without going too much into the (very simple) specifics, the bigger the Ability & role, the bigger the chance of a low or high dice. I don't mind your concerns at all. I've built this version of Movie Tycoon without any involvement from say, previous runners like Ayden. My goal was to build as much as possible on "mechanics", so that most of the stuff is actually calculated using a base value (such as asking prices being based on Ability). Then assign some kind of randomness to whatever the mechanic in question to make it harder to predict, more surprising and more fun. This obviously means there is a huge amount of manual calculating to every decision/mechanic. So when you guys post five requests for one single role, yes I do actually calculate everything individually and manually! Pretty much all the talent is overpriced and there are many reasons for this.

First of all, in some of the previous versions the talent was underpriced to a ridiculous degree: you could basically hire any star straight from the beginning. I thought it would be more fun to build up to actually getting a chance to use a mega star or risking using your starting budget on one big star and use the rest on small talent. Secondly, I don't think it's much fun to spend a huge chunk of the budget on something you get no (or smallish) visible returns from, such as production. In reality production & marketing eat much more than in the game. Third, this version allows for bigger disparity between talent wages. Yes, someone like Leonardo DiCaprio will ask for straight stupid amount of money. But indeed the man will have a great effect on both the Critical Rating and Box Office Revenue. Thus due to the disparity, it's more expensive to get an actually 'talented' actor/actress/director, but they will also have a huge effect when they do take part. Fourth, it would be nearly impossible to get reliable factual information about someone's wage and if it is available, it rarely has any kind of relevance to the next wage the person gets from a movie. Fifth, this price mechanic allows for an universal approach for the game. I don't have to adjust everything to fit a national industry. Also, there's no way to actually calculate what country likes what movie in real life, let alone in a game like this. Some American movies bomb in the US box office, but make millions in an European country, like France or Germany. The work rate in general in Bollywood is crazy, it produces the most movies in the World.

I doubt any one of you would know this, but Finland used to produce a ton of cheap movies back in the 1940s, 1950s and to an extent, the 1960s. Due to oversaturation, these movies rarely made much money at all. Some were simply discarded for being too bad to air, even by Finnish standards. The sheer amount of produced movies and low profit potential meant that the movies had to be produced with the lowest possible budget as fast as possible, so that the production companies and talent could move on to the next venture. But at that time it was a good strategy, a lot of money was made on the national market. There were no foreign films. Nowadays Finland doesn't produce many movies at all, there's still a market for them, but foreign films have taken a strong grip and the modern viewer would never sit through a cheap quality movie like they used to 'back in the day'. The reason I brought this thing up, is that I think the Finnish market then and the Bollywood market even now share(d) that harsh work rate, but there is no way to replicate this in game! This game doesn't use time or dates. Talent can work as many movies as you can throw them in. Audiences are basically limitless. So if the Indian talent had realistic wage demands (which again, not even American or English talent have), you would be in a huge advantage since you could sign them extremely cheap and make a disproportionate amount of profit due to that.

The basic Ability values (that are assigned when someone is added to the database) are rough calculations that are based on how much money the talent draws when in a significant role, their leading potential and to a very small degree, how much experience/respect they have. There's no way to know how much a young talent will make in the future, that isn't factored in at all. This of course means that older talent aren't discriminated on either. Also, a movie like 3 Idiots, for example, made around $6.5M in Indian box office but around $63M internationally. Someone involved in such a project would have a higher Ability than say a reliable Indian lead who would draw decent every movie, but never great. This is because there's no way to know how much a talent is of (realistic) value to the production! With all this being said, entering people to the database is something there is no mechanic for, it's based on my judgement and in many cases is hard to decide. Additionally, the database is originally based on those Movie Tycoon databases created before me, so huge shout outs go to Goliath, mad & Ayden for getting the database started in the first place!]

Alright, I'm finally around to hammer this out (went to a Billy Joel concert last-minute last night, and he was awesome). Here's the latest offering from Tompkins Square Studios!

CASTING & PRE-PRODUCTION FORM

MOVIE DETAILS

Title: The Mercenaries

Genre: Action, with a bit of comedy thrown in

Brief Summary Of The Plot: When a rogue bunch of bounty hunters goes after one of the most fearsome drug lords in the world, they see it as a chance at a life-changing score. However, when he escapes after being captured (leaving one man dead and the head of the bounty-hunting operation missing), it sends the remaining hired guns around the world on a mission filled with twists and turns. Will they catch the fearsome Horacio Rodriguez and rescue their leader? Will a hostile government get there first? Or has Rodriguez already slipped into the shadows?

Rating: PG-13 (violence, suspense, language)

Production Cost: TBD

Marketing Cost: TBD

TALENT CASTING

Director: We're courting Sylvester Stallone, Oliver Stone, and Kathryn Bigelow. Note that Stallone is also in consideration for a lead role; we'd like to know what his rate would be for directing and the lead role separately, as well as the rate he'd give us to do both simultaneously.

Lead Role: Craig Miles

Craig is the general of the group, and for good reason. He served several tours of duty in the U.S. Army, seeing action in Iraq twice (once in the Gulf War, once during Operation Iraqi Freedom). He grew disillusioned with the US government in the second operation, and took the first chance he got to retire and live a civilian life following that mission. He was hired by Mrs. Jones to join her firm, Sierra Securities, and he's turned into her most reliable lieutenant.

We're in talks with Stallone, Vin Diesel, Russell Crowe, Nicolas Cage, Jason Statham, and Hugh Jackman.

Lead Role: Leanne Martinez

At first glance, you may think Leanne Martinez exists solely as the group's eye candy. You'd be wrong, and for your sake, I hope you didn't assume as much out loud. She's been trained in every form of hand-to-hand combat imaginable, and happens to be excellent with a gun, too. Word is she could've been a professional MMA fighter in her physical prime, but she passed, thinking the money and thrills from bounty hunting were superior to the ones experienced inside a cage. Not much is known initially about Martinez's personal life, but Craig Miles is very protective of her (many times to the hot-tempered Leanne's outrage).

For this role, we're considering Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Michelle Rodriguez, and Zoe Saldana. Despite the eye-candy appeal of the character, there is no nudity involved, although expect at least one scene with a skin-tight catsuit.

Major Role: Mrs. Jones

Mrs. Jones is a woman of extraordinary business intellect. She was a silent investor in many companies over the years, making her a substantial fortune and, quietly, one of the richest women in the world. In earning that fortune, she began interacting with many heads of state and learning more about espionage and politics. Convinced that the business could be privatized, she started Sierra Securities as a personal protection service, which is, of course, a cover for their real business, bounty-hunting. She usually does not put herself at risk, which is why it's especially alarming that she's the one who's gone missing following Horacio Rodriguez's capture early in the film.

We need an older female with some acting chops for this one, so we're talking with the two obvious candidates, Helen Mirren and Judi Dench, as well as "New Vegas" actress Marisa Tomei, Uma Thurman, and Sharon Stone.

Major Role: Billy Sanders

Sanders and Craig Miles go way back. They served in the same battalion during the Gulf War, but Sanders stopped after one tour, instead going into private security work and bouncing in nightclubs. While Miles is smarter than Sanders, Sanders is never afraid to mix it up, which sometimes works to his detriment. However, Miles refused to join Sierra unless Mrs. Jones hired him as well, which speaks volumes about Craig's trust in his friend. Billy also serves as the group's designated getaway driver.

Sanders is the male muscle of the group, and is involved in most of the key fight scenes. We're chatting with Jamie Foxx, Steve Austin, Terry Crews, Wesley Snipes, and Idris Elba.

Minor Role: Horacio Rodriguez

Horacio Rodriguez is the latest major drug lord to take control of the underworld. If there's a drug deal going on anywhere in the world, no matter how minute, chances are he's played some role in making it happen. His job does not carry with it a long life expectancy, but Rodriguez has made a habit of slipping out of tight situations unscathed by greasing the right palms...and in some cases, firing the right guns.

We're approaching "The Reunion Tour" alum Danny Trejo, as well as Benjamin Bratt and Andy Garcia.

Minor Role: Benji Frankson

Every team of experts has a nerd, and in this case, it's Benji. He was born with asthma and still frequently uses an inhaler, but his computer skills and ability to analyze situations quickly makes him an extremely valuable part of the team. He's socially awkward, has probably never been in a serious relationship or a fist fight, and he's not the most engrossing conversation partner in the world, but you want him in your ear when you're in an operation wearing an earpiece, because he's rarely wrong. He has a MAJOR crush on Leanne Martinez, which is a source for laughs in some parts of the movie.

We're in conversations with Michael Cera, Jay Baruchel, and Andrew Garfield.

Minor Role: Gary Macklin

Gary Macklin is an FBI agent and longtime friend of Mrs. Jones. He comes in about halfway through the film, upon hearing about Mrs. Jones's kidnapping. He is frequently at odds with the Sierra group about how to proceed, given the sensitive nature of the people involved, and his hardened presence serves as another potential obstruction for Miles's team to work around as they search for their boss and their bounty.

Bryan Cranston knocked us on our rear ends during "The Reunion Tour," so we've been in touch with him. We're also talking with Kevin Bacon, Harvey Keitel, and Ray Liotta.

Minor Role: James Bradley

James Bradley is a retired CIA agent with decades of experience centering around finding fugitives and bringing them to some form of justice. His body count is high, but he doesn't do much work anymore, instead choosing to live out his days as a proud grandfather in rural Kansas. However, Miles reels him in for the Rodriguez job, promising a chance at one last huge payday. Needless to say, things don't exactly work out well for this guy.

We're chatting with Kiefer Sutherland, Robert Redford, and Martin Sheen.
