World of Mixed Martial Arts 5 FAQ

Recommended Posts

With WMMA5 coming out soon (you can find the initial WMMA5 announcement here), this initial FAQ is designed to answer some basic questions about the game. We'll be going into far more detail when the popular Developer's Journal starts later in the year. If you have questions or comments in the meantime, please use this thread; a WMMA5 forum will be launched much closer to the actual release.

When is the game coming out?

The trial / public beta will be released on January 22nd. The full retail version will be released the following week on January 30th.

The trial / public beta is there both so that people get to know the product before it goes on sale and so that we can fix any issues that arise before it becomes a retail product.

How much will it cost and where will it be available?

It will be $34.95, the standard price for all our major games. It will be available exclusively via our site using the ELicense system. It will eventually be on Steam, but it is very unlikely that that will happen in 2018.

When will the Developer's Journal starts and what format will it take?

The journal ran from October 23rd to November 24th and can be found here.

Will I be able to continue save games?

No. As usual, save games from previous iterations will not be compatible due to the scale of the changes between games.

What about all the work I've put into making custom databases and pictures?

The game will have a converter that will turn a WMMA4 database into a working WMMA5 database, so any work can be kept. Artwork from previous games can be used in WMMA5 as the dimensions of the pictures will be the same.

Can I still make suggestions?

No, the game is now in final testing.

Will my monitor be able to run it?

As previous discussed elsewhere, TEW2016 was the last of my games to use the old 1024x768 dimensions. WMMA5 uses a resolution of 1366x768 as the extra size will allow me a lot more freedom when designing. Your monitor must be able to handle that size in order to play the game.

Can I be on the testing team?

The game is now in final testing and so no further testers will be added.

<p>Yes!</p><p> </p><p>

I honestly thought Adam was going to wait 'till after E3 and then own the entire show with the mere announcement. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Great news, obsessed with both 3 and 4, so I will anxiously count down the days until this becomes available. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

That's too bad but a suitable monitor shouldnt set you back more than the actual price of the game if tou get in on the secondary market. If you spend a few hours a day on the pc you should have a decent screen at the very least imho.

I agree. Hard to believe some people are still using ancient 4:3 monitors when a decent one is so cheap these days. I applaud Adam for going to the higher res with the new game!

I don't like big monitor. 1280x1024 for me is the best. Everything else higher is so useless for me..

<p>Great surprise signing on and seeing the announcement! Funny as I had started a GAMMA game earlier in the week, looks like it'll be one of my last in that version of WMMA. Any suggestions that come to mind will be posted as usual!</p><p> </p><p>

Cheers for all of the hard work Adam~! <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Wow, I've been waiting with bated breath for this announcement for quite a while. So glad to finally hear it!</p><p> </p><p> And:</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43769" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>WMMA5 uses a resolution of 1366x768 </div></blockquote><p> Hallelujah!! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I'm genuinely sorry for those who don't use this resolution, but surely this is a good enough excuse for you to upgrade. I have a very out-of-date laptop that is still capable of playing it.</p>

Does this announcement increase the chances of WMMA4 making it to steam?

I would assume some would still purchase the game to play for half a year until release, but I think long-term it will be better to release 4 on steam asap for the increased exposure effect. Then again, I'm not an economic-minded guy. :p

Steam take 30% of sales so to lose a 1/3 for very little exposure generated probably isn't worth it at the beginning</p>
