Any fast booking tips?

Recommended Posts

I've been playing the game on and off since release and I always seem to get a couple of years into a save then stop for a while. I keep getting drawn back but the same thing happens all over again. The grind of the booking gets to me after a while. I'd love to play a save of ten or more years, but it just takes too much time.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to speed up the booking, especially booking angles. It would be nice if angle booking was more like match booking where I could filter by push and alignment (maybe that's something for the suggestions forum?) rather than have the whole roster on drop-down. The freestyle angle option is ok, but with everyone default rated on nothing, it's still a case of selecting from a drop-down, plus it's only recorded as "angle involving x, y and z" with no indication of what actually happened.

It takes me three or four hours to book a month of wrestling, with one weekly 2-hour TV show and a PPV. I manage to get through about a year in-game every 4-6 weeks and that's just too slow. I'm not new to the game either, I've been playing 2013 and 2016 for several years and have clocked dozens of hours, so it's not just a beginner thing. I'd love and appreciate some tips on how to book faster.

<p>A few little things that can save little bits of time....</p><p> </p><p>

-setting your default angles to only be a handful of angles you use most regularly. Saves having to scroll through a long list every time to find the right one. </p><p> </p><p>

-find angles that work well and focus on those. Nothing wrong with using a different angle for every different segment, but its generally not necessary. For example, I create standard "interview" angles rated on Entertainment, with a couple variations (solo, with interview, with manager, and the same set for tag teams) that can work for either interview set or in-ring interviews. I don't need 15 or 20 different interview / promo angles - those ones suffice most of the time. </p><p> </p><p>

-renaming workers. I often emulate the ThunderVerse and put "Ref' in front of every referee, which groups them and makes them less likely to be picked accidentally - so many of us have picked John Cone instead of John Cena at some point. You can also rename workers to include a nickname in quotations - "Stone Cold" Steve Austin would be at the top, while Steve Austin would be buried in the list.</p>

Something that's helped me is to have a set format for my weekly TV shows. For me, it's 6 matches- Opening multi-man undercard match(6/8 man tag, sometimes a 3-or-4-or-5 way), 1 women's match, and usually a tag main event. Then, like others said, use default angles to quickly pick simple angles to fill most of the time.

The freestyle angles definitely help the booking become faster, it's just a matter of you having enough practice of how to use them. It saves a lot of time from having to pre write or select angles and they are fast to create. The fact that they don't have text doesn't bother me at all, after all, it's a game of imagination and I simply summarize the angle on its title and so I can keep track of what has happened in my shows. That is another way of speeding up things.

I've always done that as well...

If I have a 2 hour show, it always looks like this:

Angle (12 min)

Match (10 min)

Angle (8 min)

Angle (8 min)

Match (8 min)

Match (8 min)

Angle (8 min)

Match (8 min)

Match (10 min)

Angle (8 min)

Angle (8 min)

Match (14 min)

Interesting set up. Mine is usually.

Angle (6 min)

Match (15 min) (usually my second/third best match)

Angle (6 min)

Match (10 min)

Angle (6 min)

Eye Candy Match (10 min)

Angle (6 min)

Match (10 min)

Angle (6 min)

Match (15 min) (usually my second/third best match)

Angle (6 min)

Main Event Match (15 min) (best match)

I may sub a match for a nice show ending angle sometimes.

It's also how long I think it takes and the OP is just overthinking it and making a big deal of nothing. 4 to 6 weeks for a year seems a little long though, but he never explained anything so no one knows if he plays like an hour a day or nerds out and marathons it.</p><p> </p><p> It takes me 20 or 30 minutes to book a TV show, let's say 20 minutes for a PPV, and 5 minutes for a B show. 30 x 4 is two hours, then 20 minutes, then another 20 minutes. Then there's simming from show to show which, depending on the mod either takes a little while each day or forever each day. </p><p> </p><p> I also really don't get his main complaint. Like, you think it takes a long time because of angles? What is so time consuming about booking angles?!</p>

<p>I'm with Broken... It takes me around 15-20 minutes to book a 2-hour TV show, mainly cause I book my TV-shows on the fly. A PPV takes around 10 minutes, cause it's pre-booked, and 1-hour B-show takes around 5 minutes. </p><p> </p><p>

Atm., I'm playing as Impact Wrestling in the April 2017 DB, which means I have 1 A-show and 1 B-show a week, and 1 3-hour PPV a month. It doesn't take that long to play through a month of game time.</p>

I have to check I've got most of my main eventers on the show, I have to make sure I've advanced most of the storylines. See who's up and who's done within a storyline. </p><p> </p><p> Don't know if you ever played Football Manager but they introduced a "classic" mode with less detail to try and temp people back who had been put off by it taking hours and hours to get through a season. That's sort of what I'm after. I want to get through a month a day ideally. And I've got 2 kids, a full time job. I'm not at Uni anymore making special trips to the campus computer lab to play EWR (good times.)</p>

Thanks everyone for the tips. It's been helpful and I can't believe I never noticed the angle filter before. This will definitely speed up the booking a bit, but I also realise that this game just takes time to play and that's fine.

What's the issue? You never even explained why you think it takes you so long to book a show.

This isn't really a productive answer. The issue is that booking and planning takes a long time and I was just asking for some advice for doing it quicker. I find having to pull workers from a drop-down and having to rate them all on something, then add effects and name the angle, etc takes quite a while. It wasn't a complaint about the game and it makes no difference if I play a little or a lot. Why even bother commenting if you have nothing positive to contribute?
