Also I've become one of the "we should do something Day 1" crowd but I know here it would take a lot to make happen. Still seems silly to give mafia a free night to me.

In my experience (all of which is real life, more signals to pick up on), it's worth it on day 1 if there's a hunch that's valid. But my forum experience (which is just watching the previous game) says you can run out of town way too fast. So hard to say at this point what to do, if anything.

Anyone voting for non-silly "stereotypical day 1" reasons?

Certainly not a bad sentiment as such. But the larger the game, the harder it is to figure out what that should be and get enough people on the same page.

Playing werewolf in person, I started really going for day 1 lynches. It was easier to make people break and frantically defend themselves in person. Not so much on forums.

It was also easier to achieve day 1 lynches and pressure in person.

I'm all for day 1 motions, but I remember it not going so well on here.

Eww. Maturity. Get out of here with that mess.

LOL, half of the participants followed the birth of my children (I hope Han is still a favorite - born a bit after Star Wars Maffia and he's turning 11 in a few months).

Ugh that happened to me once. My Mason became a vampire. That sucked.

Simpson Maffia - Treehouse gang. Cult invaded it...can't remember who....old age (40+ by now)

See my previous post: either we push someone for information with the threat of lynching (risk / reward) or we do nothing. I'm in favour of option 1 ... whoever we push will claim town anyway.

Have had the same theory on Day One from the start. It's not a worthwhile gamble to hunt mafia on day one. We could luck out and find someone who's scum, but we have nothing to really question them with unless they make some misstep.

This isn't real life, we can take our time and formulate our thoughts on how we want to sway the town away. Like you said, signals. The odds of finding a BAD scum player who can't lie aren't as high as finding a town power role and drawing attention to them. Even if they don't outright claim, the scum learn something to aid them N1.

I'd rather they be as blind as possible.

Considering the last remark, I'm skimming and this is -at this stage- difficult because I'm in the European Time Zone (and yes, my day job allows limited access usually). Who to push? WC (I think) has made one post and then went away, haven't seen too many posts from Jaded (but I always think Jaded is scum, don't know why) or just my bad midlife crisis saying "let's push one of the youngsters"...

I've been on these forums for more than 13 years now.

Are you lying about the fact that you will be lying? Not sure what to believe already. Especially after you called me scum just before I died last game. :p

Crazy thing about that. I wanted to investigate him and was working to figure out if a case could be built against him when the Eayragt mess happened. And then he goes and gets night killed himself. When he came up town, that was the beginning of the game going pear shaped for me.

At exactly what day and year did you become so careful? :D

I've played about as careless as I usually do. Can't change up the gameplay, people might actually read something into that.

Never been a fan of Day One stuff unless there's something to be gained. If you toss on a Kingmaker gimmick, I believe there should be a person or two that knows it's their responsibility to put the target on their back and figure it out and politic for it using whatever info they feel like sharing.

If anything, Derek's gone backwards. You should see his new haircut.

Mohawks are cool! :p T2 is getting tall in his old age, seems to be growing right through his hair. :p

I've got no problem pushing for things on Day 1, I'd certainly do it in a face to face game. There are always risks and rewards in mafia games, with information being the key to building up plans no matter who you are. I don't expect others to follow suit but the poster boy for that strategy does already have at least one vote on him so.......

VOTE: machinesxe

Either it goes somewhere with other people liking the plan... or it doesn't. Either way, we learn something. :)

machinesxe-3(Astil, Destiny, Derek B)

Crychon-2(eayragt, Arrows)

It is now DAY PHASE. With 26 players remaining, it's 14 to lynch.

You have until 6:00PM EST (11:00PM GMT) on Friday, November 16th to reach a majority vote. If no vote has been reached at that time, a No Lynch will be declared.

As always, if you see a mistake point it out.

That being said ... if we pressure someone, I could have an idea...when I played this the first time, I remember looking up roles....Googled it again and I came on this site.

https://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Category:Roles_Main_Page

A question could be about the "very common roles" ... and it's a LAL afterwards. Just an idea. Should get some grey matter going...

Probably won't be doing much...should mach feel pressured, a simple "yes or no" if you're on the very common roles would suffice.

1) by all means, feel free to pressure mach

2) "Blue: you're pushing for info, you're scum"... while scum needs info, town needs info as well.

That's ... a very short list of dangerous roles to have someone admit to having one of them.

Was thinking the same thing. I'd be happier seeing where things go and if machinesxe wants to volunteer information. Blue is basically asking "Are you a power role?"

I'd be a lot more open to it if the list was adjusted to what we deem common, and stuff like watcher, tracker, double vote, miller, and whatnot were added. Right now, that's a shortlist of the most important roles and one we rarely see in bigger games, really.

Overall it was kind of a pointless exercise. One could argue that a watcher or tracker are investigative roles and thus fit that description. Or the fact that I'm town aligned fits as a "townie" role. Regardless of possible other abilities.

Lol, I read Blues proposal and thought from a certain point of vote he was kind of doing what Machine was. Posting something ultimately pointless in the guise of contributing to the town discussion.
