TEW2020 Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

New features are announced in the journal only; to recap, I don't answer "is this in?" questions individually as it would soon make the journal redundant.

You can however assume that anything that has been posted in the Suggestions forum either is, or was, under consideration unless I've specifically replied to a thread to say that it isn't.

Shoot I know better. I got overzealous my fault! Sorry adam.

Firstly it would depend on when you're playing. If you're in the pre-Internet age then you're going to have minimal, if any, reduction.

Secondly, no, you shouldn't assume that week 4's show would automatically get lower than week 1. "Adam says that the further from the taping the lower the rating" is incorrect. What the journal entry says is "the further ahead a show is taped, the more its ratings are going to get reduced". An increasing penalty does not automatically mean that later weeks will do worse than earlier ones.

To give an exaggerated example, if you do a horrible show in week 1 that only draws 100,000 viewers, and pull out all the stops so that week 4's would otherwise have drawn 2,000,000, then even if there's a 10% drop for each week of taped content then you're still going to be getting a much higher rating for week 4's show.

Ah, fantastic. I wasn't thinking you had segmented the game into pre and post internet, which is fantastic! I am now remembering you alluding to this in the journal.

<p>I was futzing around with Carlzilla's "Random Wrestler Generator" mod for Fire Pro World last night, and it got me thinking about that one Watcher game mod (some quick checking...ah yes, the Organic Effverse mod!) where it starts at like the dawn of wrestling, and other than the bare minimum necessary amount of workers made to properly start the game, the <em>entire</em> universe of that mod consists of Randomly Generated Workers.</p><p> </p><p>

And it got me to thinking: WHAT IF, for TEW 2020, you could set the YEAR (or even specific MONTH of a given year) that a given region starts randomly generating wrestlers? And even being able to micro-manage THAT, by setting what amount of wrestlers get generated that year, but then change the amount that gets generated on a later year, etc, to kind of match the "trends" of wrestler generation in the world for that mod?</p><p> </p><p>

Like, take the real world for example: pro wrestlers were mainly generated by the United States, and mainly starting at roughly the 1890's/1900's; then wrestlers started getting generated in Mexico sometime in the 1920's/1930's; British wrestlers started getting generated in, what, the 40's or 50's or something; Japanese wrestlers started getting generated in the 50's/60's; and so on, and so forth.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>So, what if in TEW2020, you could set a Random Wrestler Generation "Start Date" (and "Starting Amount") </strong><strong><em>per region</em></strong><strong>?</strong></p><p><strong>

And also be able to set a </strong><strong><em>different</em></strong><strong> amount of generation at a later date (via adding a few extra rows in the window where you do it)?</strong></p><p> </p><p>

I recall in 2013/2016 being able to set the start date for random generation, but only as an all-around whole-world thing, rather than being able to set starting date per region.</p>

Also brand focus (women’s brand, juniors/young lions brand, senior brand etc.) Doesn’t have to be unlimited I realize that could be taxing, and I realize realism may make this seem silly, but I play a very large world and would love the addition of more brand options as it would help divide my roster better and divisions don’t seem to do much.</p><p> </p><p> Thanks! Very excited for the new game.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Conversely, I'd really like to see some way to give Divisions some actual juice, like giving us the option to name/create our own divisions, making certain titles exclusive to one particular division, heck maybe even allow matches to be associated with a specific division on pre-booking.</p>

Stables sound like a massive upgrade. Again another improvement which sound like it has had much thought. Also it sounds like it improves the AIs booking.

I do hope there would be some way of using stables in angles and just selecting the stable, rather than each worker individually.

<p>The news on Stables is pretty good, makes it easier to book New Japan, lol. I honestly don't really know what else Adam can add to this game that wouldn't already complete it for me. The few main things I was hoping for(broadcasting and worker contract overhauls, ticketing, merchandise) are already in.</p><p> </p><p>

Do you think the developer's journal would work on social media as a way of garnering more attention for the game or is too much of a niche of a niche?</p>

<p>I’m curious how well the AI will use stables - presumably well! - but whether the game will know that Giant/high Menace workers might be best served as Muscle, say.</p><p> </p><p>

I’m a big fan of stables, so any enhancement to them gets a thumbs up from me. Playing with the different stable types - Cult, and so on - is definitely something I’m looking forward to.</p>

<p>The post today mentions stable rating once or twice and I’m very curious what this is going to look like. Is it going to be an experience rating like tags? Is it going to be like the old faction momentum rating?</p><p> </p><p>

I’m very excited for the stable update. As someone who uses stables a lot, I’m very excited to see roles and the ability to see stables formed by the AI.</p><p> </p><p>

Also curious if this will lead to the freebird rule being an option for tag team titles. </p><p> </p><p>

Will this also automatically name tag teams the stable name so you don’t have to create a bunch of tag teams (excluding an already existing tag team name). For instance, in my diary, I have a stable 'Bowen Services'. If I team up two members that aren't already an existing tag team, will it default name than Bowen Services? I know it mentioned doing this in six man (and presumably eight man, etc.) but I want to check if it does this for standard tags and if it would override the existing team name (if the Ring Generals are in a faction and in a tag match, will they get called The Ring Generals or by the faction name).</p><p> </p><p>

Thank you! This is a great update.</p>

I have to admit that stables were not very high on my wish list. I dont follow competitor feds all that closely unless its to steal talent and i cant see myself bringing in a whole stable as is. I'm curious as to how stable ratings will drive business though which could be interesting...

<p>I'm thrilled by this expansion of stables, first and foremost because they'll bring added fun and realism to the game. AI stables actually functioning like stables will make match results so much more believable. It's very cool.</p><p> </p><p>

Even better, unless I'm mistaken, this change to AI stables opens the way for potential additional features that I'm excited to see.</p><p> </p><p>

For example, angles where some or all stablemates cut a promo or get into a brawl with a common enemy/rival stable. With a max of 18 in a stable, this suggests to me that the AI is likely to have the ability to feature a greater number of wrestlers in angles than TEW 2016, which should put the AI on more equal footing with how most players book their shows. </p><p> </p><p>

I have questions about the "fine tuning" of how this will work:</p><p> </p><p>

- When an AI stable kicks a wrestler out, can the AI turn that wrestler to the opposite disposition and have him feud with his former stablemates? </p><p> </p><p>

- When an AI stable recruits a new member, can the AI do so dramatically as part of a show? For example, having a face betray his tag team partner during a match to join a heel stable? (Taking off his shirt to reveal an nWo T-shirt underneath...)</p><p> </p><p>

- Can the AI stable recruit tag teams or just individual wrestlers?</p><p> </p><p>

- Will an AI stable have stablemates interfere in each others' matches and will we be able to see this interference/distraction in the match reports?</p><p> </p><p>

- Etc.</p><p> </p><p>

Very encouraged by where TEW 2020 is going!</p>

<p>All of today's update sounds good, but the thing I'm most interested in for TEW2020 is the ai changes, so the ones I have heard today are very positive. The fact stable members won't be feuding or facing each other is great, that was always frustrating.</p><p> </p><p>

I noticed the update mentions stable members banding together in tournaments, what does these mean? Does that mean teaming together in tag tournaments? I don't believe the AI books interferences or anything so that's the only thing I can think it means, or maybe I'm being stupid?</p>

The new stable options sound absolutely wonderful. I, too, am curious about the different types of stables. Actually, <em>everything</em> thus far sounds pretty great. I can't wait, I'm pretty much fiending for this game at this point. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>So I just got back from deployment and so I am catching up with the developer thread. One question I have so far is about tickets. Is the ticket pricing for the whole event, or can you mix and match. </p><p> </p><p>

For example, using a real world mod, if I was booking Wrestlmania, I could have premium seating (for the front rows) mixed with normal for the seats in the back. I think this would be a more realistic approach then having the entire arena as premium, cheap etc.</p><p> </p><p>

Other than that I am super excited for TEW 2020. I've been a fan for years now and I always look forward to the next iteration of the franchise and this looks to be the biggest change yet.</p>
