TEW2020 Discussion Thread

<p>So glossing over all of that... </p><p> </p><p>

I am not sure how the testers get release patches and whether they have the attributes that have been announced thus far. But for those testing the game, how do you feel the narratives are with the flow of the game. Because like with the current game the narratives at times I ignore because well I don't see or notice the effects. Which I think the attributes help deal with, but for the testers has it changed how you treat characters. e.g. Does it change how you perceive the characters?</p>

No you do not not gain 3 overness per TV show. This is empirically incorrect and saying otherwise from a position of “authority” does not make it so.</p><p> </p><p> Yes, very interesting. I do appreciate your on brand support for long time paying customers.</p><p> </p><p> I guess the benefit of being a small independent is you can just censor people when they provide constructive criticism.</p><p> </p><p> Protip: Since you’ve actually PMd me before about the horrible acts of arguing civiliy on an internet forrum(the horror!) have you considered the logical response which is to simply stop insisting you are right and trying to get the last word in, especially when you directly responded to someone who was not attempting to argue with someone, nor provided a sufficient argument in the first place.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> As a note, you’ve also gone into my DMs and told me I was trolling because I disliked the current product and was flamed by a group of people who stooged to the mods about me for the horrible crime of saying that the modern wrestlers are too small and lack promo skills. I know having an opinion that is common among the legion of lapsed fans but is deplorable to the Internet forum goers is again, a horrible, heinous act, but I’m starting to see a pattern here, and it’s not involving me. </p><p> In fairness, I used a swear word in one of the posts which is against the rules, and deserves a warning for that, however I did not appreciate being called a troll for having a non popular opinion.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I treat people respectfully, don’t insult people and yet at multiple times harassed by you in particular because I disagree with people. I simply have no patience for this.</p>

<p>I really wanna avoid keeping this discussion but I simply can't, it took far too long to ban this dude, while at the other hand the mod squad members were banned in less than a week due to a knee jerk reaction.</p><p>

I just wanted to put this out there.</p><p> </p><p>

Regardless, I was wondering if there's any release date for the demo? Maybe I've missed it but whatever.</p>

Correct me if I'm wrong but outside of moving the database to 2020... the game seems pretty much finished? It seems by April 2020 the game will have been complete for a little bit.

I know nothing about the game development and how far it is going along though, so basically read my post as: Why isn't it April 2020 yet?!

Well...

Somewhere Adam mentioned that it takes at least a full month to create a the new CVerse from all of the notes he has. So if he's starting that work now, let's say it takes all of November to write and by December he has the database in a form that his testing team can begin to play with it. I imagine there is a lot of work that comes in to testing the database. Are contract numbers correct? How is the new hiring system working? The new location system. Simple stuff like spelling errors or missing move sets or things that we the player probably don't think of needing to be in there and tested.

You go from there to needing to continue to fine tune all of the features so they work with the new database. Fine tuning the finances so that they work the way they need to work.

Plus, Adam's mentioned in a few developer's journals about university -- so I imagine that also has some impact on the the timeline. Term papers (or whatever end of term stuff is required) etc...

BUT

I don't really know game development timeline other than what I've read in trade magazines and in interviews with other game developers. So I could be way wrong and way off too. I want it to be April 2020 too! The anticipation is great within me.

I've suspected for a while that there will be a demo bout shortly after Christmas....

More out of hope rather than knowledge. I don't even know if previous releases have had demos.

If I recall correctly, each version has had a demo that came out about a month before the commercial release and allowed you to play a month of game time in a save (though you had unlimited saves) and full access to the database editor. It allowed mod-makers to get a jump on getting mods started.

This would be awesome, but I don't expect we will get out hands on even a demo of the game until at least a month before it's release. Waiting for release is tough, because the more information that kept coming out about TEW2020 has pretty much made TEW2016 less and less playable for me. I'd be overjoyed to even just get the editor for 2020 at this point.

<p>It takes a couple of months at least to do the Cornellverse, plus a bunch of testing to make sure all the numbers are working to a good level which is at least another couple of months.</p><p> </p><p>

There is usually a public beta/demo for 1 or 2 weeks before the game's full release so even on the most optimistic of timescales and with a really short testing period that is looking at March for the demo. April remains the most likely time for release in order to make sure the game is shipping in the best possible shape and with a dataset that has been tested (the Cornellverse has many different scenarios to test within it) to make sure everything adds up the way it should, and by a team of testers who are then able to give the community a lot of support when the game releases too. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
